>>2895124my issue is how libvorbis increases the file size and i can't find a way to decrease the quality of the audio in order to keep the file size low. I do appreciate every other tip in this thread as well as the links to other sites.
>>2895070this is really nice
>>2897850>and i can't find a way to decrease the quality of the audio in order to keep the file size low-b:v = video bitrate-b:a =audio bitrateHead over here to see some examples:https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg.html
>>2897897Or more specifically its the number you enter after those two terms which which become the approx bitrate.
>>2897894Glad you enjoyed it friendhttps://youtu.be/vla89zLN86M
>>2897897>>2897899i tried that and file size didn't change, i'll try again since i probably entered it incorrectly. is this split between the video bit rate or should i just do one or the other? I really appreciate your help and i'm certain i've seen that link before but something new i just saw it that ffmpeg can transcode a VOB file. I'll keep playing around.
>>2899142Protip: don't waste unnecessary bytes on video if it's only a static thumbnail. Here's what I do:- Encode thumbnail as one frame video (using the -frames:v 1 option) (don't add sound just yet) (you can specify a video bitrate here to whatever, I usually do -b:v 1M because it only takes as much as neccessary for one frame)- Encode sound to using libvorbis alone (no video involved in this step)- Combine both files produced in two previous steps into one webm by without re-encoding (-c copy option)- Optionally hex edit the duration if it's longer than 5 minutesI find this method works pretty well, and the video portion of webm takes usually somewhere between 30 to 200kB, leaving almost whole 4 megabytes to audio (which usually amount to around 72kbps for an ~8 minute recording in my case)
>>2899171i like your approach. I'm actually attempting the opposite-bare min audio with semi decent video but long video. Again, thanks to all who replied and OP for starting this thread. Last time i'll spam the thread. take care all.
>>2899185>semi decent video but long videoIts pretty much one or the other. Video requires far more info than audio to achieve a decent result. Trade offs can be made with frame rate, resolution and bit rate.
>>2859141Mark Schulz - DaydreamThere are to many but it was the first to come to mind.
>>2859141>A&B - Can't Sleepgood taste, anon. I keep coming back to that one.My pick, I can't into long webm yet.
>>2908582here you go anon
I was walking with my family yesterday, and when we passed in front of the local gym, this song was playing:https://youtu.be/IEixeSxl_ho
Wanted: Simple ffmpeg example to insert thumbnail first frame on the likes of this.I tried the webm academy example but I must be doing it wrong.
>>2911450great songand as for ffmpeg (assuming video and thumbnail have the same size)ffmpeg -i source_video -i source_thumbnail -filter_complex '[0:v][1:v]overlay=enable=eq\(n\,0\)[vout]' -map '[vout]' -b:v libvpx -b:v video_bitrate -c:a libvorbis -b:a audio_bitrate -f webm output.webm(beware it'll essentialy re-encode whole video, so better not leave it as last thing to add)If video and thumbnail are of different sizes, just scale it like so (in this example thumbnail is rescaled)-filter_complex '[1:v]scale=w=<width>:h=-1[thumb];[0:v][thumb]overlay=enable=eq\(n\,0\)[vout]'(-1 in height means scale preserving aspect ratio)if you ever want to find out about options to some filter just doffmpeg -help filter=<filter_name>
>>2911477forgot to add you have to map audio to output as well -map '0:a' (in above command)To make up for it, here's an example. >>2832402>>2832523Huh, I'm the original author of WebM Academy. I'm floored anyone even remembers that thread - it's been 4 years! Do you need anything in specific? I still have the text file and the webms, though I haven't updated anything since 2015.Looking through it - there was a lot I got right (people laughed because I uneccessarily specified c:v and c:a - then the defaults changed to VP9 and Opus), but also some thing I got horribly wrong. I absolutely botched the 2pass section. You need to remove all quality control parameters (-crf, -qmax) then it works perfectly. These days I 2pass virtually every webm I encode. For a 4MB clip there's also no need for voiding the output on pass 1, which makes things way less convoluted.A new version would probably also include metadata (bake your goddamn source into the file so it sticks to it!), a lot more filtergraphing, crop filter, overlay offsets and enable conditions, denoising filters (better quality for monochrome backgrounds), multi-part files by inserting keyframes and splitting (so you only encode the whole thing once and viewers can stitch the file back together locally), scale filter should use lanczos algorithm, in-line arithmetic (-b:v 4095*8/[seconds]), -g (fewer keyframes = smaller size), etc.>>2848445Does it not work anymore? I haven't used that in a while admittedly. They do change things around every once in a while or introduce new stuff. For instance, I haven't even looked into the cropdetect filter, which supposedly gets rid of black bars on its own.
>>2956605>Does it not work anymore?I can't be sure. The fact I'm attempting to copy it from a graphical image rather than Ctrl C V its hard to know if it has changed of if I'm "typoing" it somehow. Also navigating a text file is so much easier when it comes to Ctrl f.>I still have the text fileIf you would be willing to dump that somewhere that would help determine what the answer to the above is.I got a helpful answer here which I need to fully investigate sometime (and thanks to that anon) >>2911534>one day I hope I'm not so tired>I'm floored anyone even remembers that thread - it's been 4 years! There is clearly more than one of us does and more than one of us who has been looking for it who has participated in this thread series.
