Post your vector requests and recently done vectors here.Previous Thread http://boards.4channel.org/w/thread/2116352#topREAD THE OP BEFORE POSTING!>Before requesting, here are some tips:– Request an image ONCE per thread. Do not bump or second - once is enough.– Check the lists below to see if your request has already been previously fulfilled.– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:– The poorer the quality of an image (in resolution and drawing ability), the less likely it will be picked up. The more detail seen and higher the resolution, the better.– Full-body images preferred. Images cut off on 3 or more sides are very unlikely to be picked up due to their limited usage; keep this in mind when finding an image to request. (Hair or skirt edges that are barely cut off don't usually count)– Requests for removing the background from an image (called a RENDER) and resizing requests should go to the IMT threads.– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.– Note: Overly complicated images are unlikely to be picked up due to their nature. IF your request is taken, please have patience.>Check these places before requesting:http://double-you-vectors.deviantart.com/https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B_VmbVyD4eT3N1VUbGN4Wjd5OVEhttp://iqdb.org/http://yande.re/post/index?tags=vector_tracehttp://konachan.com/post/index?tags=vectorhttp://danbooru.donmai.us/post?tags=vector_tracehttp://gelbooru.com/index.php?page=post&s=list&tags=vector*http://browse.minitokyo.net/gallery?tid=9&index=2http://browse.deviantart.com/manga/digital/vector/?order=5>Anime vectoring tutorials:—online viewable guide (Inkscape): http://sites.google.com/site/jjaaba/main—downloadable guide (Inkscape): http://www.mediafire.com/?xhj5d254zhui0tr—Illustrator video tutorials: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g0cRvqYRVE [Open]>Thread archivehttps://pastebin.com/sCZVSJYQ
Have not posted in a while, thought I would give an update. I moved in with my girlfriend, got a new job, work about 60 hours a week at it, Got engaged. Looking to get some spare cash for the wedding/bills so if anyone is looking for a certain image done I'm up for commission. Can pay with PayPal. Also will try posting here more often as I have missed hanging out and streaming. If you have any questions you can post in the thread DM me in the Discord Channel or Get me on steam.
What post production modification do you guys do on your vectors? I find most finished products... bland.
>>2126736Sometimes color correction in the case of the source image not being good.Often times I'll add lost limbs, hair and other things. I've recently begun to experiment with replacing badly drawn things with nicer ones from other images, but its like 3x the work.I think the biggest improvement for me was getting my line thicknesses down and also using colored linework in every instance I can. Those 2 things really seem to make my stuff look a lot better.
anyone know if theres a transparent vector of https://files.yande.re/sample/39d6bf4261cecf5d6ec3e444f762adbf/yande.re%20177109%20sample%20panty%20panty_%26_stocking_with_garterbelt%20stocking%20topless%20vector_trace.jpg lying around somewhere i checked the DA and some of the google drive and found nothing
>>2126736I don't understand your question. If you mean raster effects after I'm done tracing in vectorial, than none for sure. That would defeat the whole purpose of what I'm doing. If there's anything I want to change, I'll modify that in illustrator, like adding more interesting gradient work, shading or even redrawing parts. I do use them sometimes to turn into wallpapers, if that's what you mean. I'll add different raster effects then, if I have to or just modify the color tints and lighting effects. I don't see the point of adding any of those effects on something like a vector with a transparent background. They've been taken out of their context and turned into a prop to be featured in another setting.I don't really get your question but if what I made looks bland to me then I'd consider expending anything like the gradients, shading or certain particular details I can think of.
>>2126746I have to correct my post>I find most of my finished products... bland.Well apparent you and this guy >>2126742 particularly answered it.I see my work bland but when I look at others it looks so crisp.
>>2126747Kinda sounds like a lack of depth to the coloring and shading, from what you are saying. Aside from what has already been mentioned in those 2 posts you referenced, I'd recommend trying to pick a source image that you find more complex or with more interesting details. For example, if all of what you're worked on is Screenshots taken from anime, then you should probably aim for some of the nice looking official art for anime that is featured in magazines and posters. Those I feel are much closer to the artist's real drawing talent and so will have a lot more personality and detail. I feel like a lot of this charm is lost for the benefit of having it being animated for a weekly 20 minutes episode. Good fan art can also be a good idea. It might be time to try your hand at a higher echelon.
Anchor post.Weapons on display are:Aoi (on the left) - Howa Type 89, but without integral bipodIbara (middle) - M249 SAW ParaTaeko (right) - SVD Dragunov, original design, but with black polymer instead of wooden furniture
Re-requesting Maria Grace Fleed, the girl in the middle of the pic.
>>2126747I would recommend taking more difficult requests. The image you linked is really bland. It features simple one color shading that works well for a frame in an anime but not as a display piece. Honestly though a lot of it has to do with the source image. I'm terrible at finding cute things I like, that I'd also be able to vector. Usually people post some pretty good requests in these threads, and they in exchange get their waifu vectored. I feel like its a fair trade and its a good way to up your abilities in what you can actually vector.Try a vector where you have use gradients on it.

>>2127289If you're gonna use stroke to object you might as well just use strokes honestly, and stroke vectors are frowned upon around here due to how flat they end up.
How do you deal with thin lines? Do you just zoom in do the tracing method on the youtube tutorial?
>>2127376What kind of thin? Like the source image isn't high res enough?
>>2127376Seeing that I made the YouTube tutorial yes.
Not really anime but I didn't know where else to ask so here goes nothing! I can't find a higher resolution of this picture and I was wondering if anyone could vectorize it. Thanks in advance! >>2127724Even still you got some residual crud floating around, if you want to render something learn in the IMT Thread. https://files.catbox.moe/vr50c3.pngWhen rendering I recommend using the Pen Tool, Magic wand and Quick selection are not your friend.>>2127024
I'm really surprised there hasn't been many requests in this thread. I guess vectors just aren't as popular as of late. It seems like not a lot of people are doing them right now.
>>2127819The vector thread has been on /w/ for almost ten years and it has pretty much always been extremely slow with very few artists actually taking up requests. That's just the nature of the format, what with it taking tens of hours per image.
>>212782310 years? Wow I've only been here for maybe 3 at the most. But I've only been able to do 20 requests over that long time. Usually there are a huge flood of requests every time new thread opens up.
Since people are complaining, requesting my wife traced pretty please.I'd rather have her vectored but if no one picks it up I have no choice but to get it rendered instead.
Pretty simple request: I'd like it detexted and colorized.
>>2127961If all you want is text remove and colors added you want the IMT. This thread is for full retracing of images in vector format.
>>2127980I know. I'd like it vectored in color and text removed.
Do you guys blur the white of the eyes? Also am I doing great so far with the lines?
>>2127990I like to add just a bit of blur on the white accents of eyes, I think it looks better and less flat. Your lines are iffy, lots of inconsistencies throughout. The hair seems to be the main thing that needs work, along with what looks like bows(?) at the bottom of the hair on both sides. Can you post the source image your working with? If the lines on the source are that varying and your going for a 1:1 than it might be ok but right now it looks really inconsistent.
>>2127990I always try to keep the features vectorial as much as I can in my traces. Not that I don't use blurs but I make a conscious effort not to overdo them, if I can help it. For the eyes, as long as the white spots are mostly round, I prefer using a radial gradient that goes from what to transparent on the exteriors. It creates a fairly similar smooth/glowing effect around the edges if positioned right. As for lines, seems like you got the amounts of nodes used down, mostly. The curves look pretty smooth in general. Some of the weights on them are a bit off though, from what I can tell. The line for her nose is way too bold, same with her mouth. Also her hair on the left is much thicker than on the right, I find it a bit jarring. You might also want to be careful of overlapping objects when you use the pathfinder functions. You have a prime example of what happens when 2 items line up perfectly on top of each other at the edges. It creates that awful looking super thin and over aliased white line all along where they overlap. it's present on both eyes but super easy to notice on the one to the left. It can be a pain to fix in certain situations but the idea is to make sure the shape on the lower layer goes further past under the one over.I'd also keep her eyebrows hollow and not full like this, give them an outline like the rest. You can use the Minus Front pathfinder mode.Lastly, another small thing I'd change would be the color of her eyes, mainly that her pupils aren't dark enough. Hope this helps in some ways.

>>2128799forgot the pic
>>21288001 Node right before the curve and 1 right after the curve.
>>2127114>>2128134>I'm not deadNeither am I, as it turns out. Thank you for accepting all my suggestions from last thread! The progress looks neat, but I will admit that Taeko's nose looks really off to me. Well, ultimately things like these are bound to happen because of the shit resolution of the base image, but I'll try to point out how it could be made look better with some redlines (or green, in this case) and additional references. I think one important thing that makes the nose look so weird is that it isn't supposed to be so "rounded," and also, the lines on the left are supposed to represent the nostrils unconnected to the nose proper. All the Coppelion girls have cutesy anime noses, basically. But at the moment Taeko's looks too much like some deformed hook nose. Compared to the previous point, this a minor complaint, but I think the mouth shouldn't be curved quite so wildly. And finally, one more thing to note about Taeko's head: She is wearing a (short) ponytail which is tied from the rest of her hair. I see that this part looks especially murky on the base image, so it's easy to overlook if one isn't familiar with the character.I hope this helps.I can imagine the weapons being a drag. If you want to/have use for it, I could dig for more reference images for the weapons in question.
could anyone do this?
Requesting, if the line art is not to shitty/hard to work with.I'm pretty sure this is the original pic, but it looks a bit low-res to me.
>>2128830Only because you mentioned it, that is in fact not the original; the original can be found here https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=49843407 and is slightly smaller at 900x1150px instead of 1002x1280. That slight resize did alter the quality a bit, but even the original is a bit 'fuzzy' due to the brush the artist drew it with.
I'm going to ask here after reviewing the DA group & most of the drive: has anyone done a vector of Death of the Endless?

>>2127421Another update. Lineart is almost done. All that's left is the tip of the flagpole, then i can move on to coloring. If you look close, you can see all the areas I've improved upon the original (ie the arm holding the flagpole and some of the hair). Anatomically speaking, there is something about the hand that's pointing out that simply feels wrong... I tried to fix it up a bit, but I'm not 100% satisfied with that hand....
>>2129275The thumb is what's throwing the hand off to me. I think it's too narrow at the base, and the whole thing from the base joint feels like it needs to come "out" a bit more towards the top of the hand. The index finger is also a bit cartoon-noodly, but I could be happy writing that off as stylistic choice.I've attached a quick and dirty hand-drawn sketch of how I'd change the thumb to look better, if you want it.
>>2129337>– Refrain from using renders for requests. Try to find the original non-rendered image; it is easier for vectorists to work with.

hello!started learning vectors. any critique/tips?
>>2129713>any critique/tips?Line consistency would probably be my first recommendation since your linework is all over the place. Typically Hair is the thinnest while skin is thicker and clothes even thicker. Also the rounded tips on the mouth and eyebrows make your vector look derpy. You could probably change that, but the line consistency is going to take awhile to learn.I'm glad your using fills instead of strokes though, keep up the good work anon! Post it when your finished and we'll give you more detailed insight in to what you might want to change.
>>2129772I am done coloring it, the original image is dark so i used other images to color her + some adjustmentsthanks anon, i will practice on my lineart
>>2129849Looks great - just a quick comment about the eye on the right - I'd try getting a consistent curve. Looks a little strange, like the flesh is molding over her eyelid. That'd probably be true with a real figure but I don't think it fits the style of anime/manga. Just my two cents
What Happend to the number of the thread
>>2126992First a disclaimer.. i started this with vector magic as a quick-strarting platform, then went on to hand vectoring. it works for me, bitch about it if you want. one problem with that is that the WIP looks more done than it is. TL;DR: WIP looks more done than it is
>>2129849I marked a few areas that you should change>red circlesThese should come out to pointed tips not rounded ones. Rounded tips almost never look good.>green circlesThe lines on the hair bands should be thicker than the actual hair or at least similar to it. The wayward hair piece just looks out of place, I'd probably just cut that off myself but that's just my preference.>other thingsYou should make the blush as simple as possible. Just use one oval shape as a blurred object to draw it. Overall this is pretty decent for a beginner. Try to focus on getting the curves down better like the eye. It should be smooth curve all the way around.
>>2129888if you care or if it makes more sense, here is the difference between the vector and source (pseudo-progress-meter)

>>2129896With her sword as well, sorry
>>2128823Vector is fit mostly for flat colors and simple gradients. If you'd want something like this in infinite resolution you may as well just sculpt it.
>>2129135Damn! this is really good
>>2129872I don't remember this thread ever keeping track of numbers.
>>2129910>flat colors and simple gradientsNot sure if that's the intention but you make it sound like it's way more limited than it is. The linked image has a lot of details and complex shading but I don't see how it couldn't be done in vectorial. The resolution is pretty low but most details can be discerned well enough. Example attached.
>>2129896This one looks nice. I might do this one once I finish my current vector. >>2129898Slight nitpicking here, but that looks like a spear or some kind of staff to me.
>>2126990I don't have much experience but I have some time and will give this a try :D
>>2129978Good luck :3, i wanted to do if i could, never got the time 3:
>>2129915your'e right my wording does sound a lot worse than it should be.My intention wasn't to say that it's impossible nor that vector is super limited. That being said, that thing in specific would be an absolute nightmare to do as is, that means without trying to simplify it.There's a lot of semi hard edges that change from soft to hard constantly, there's a gradient on everything and a lot of visible strokes that gradate very lightly and into one another. Not only it will be a pain because of how much masking you will have to do, the super soft gradients will start showing banding.

>>2130479No fap until done
>>2130479Not sure how good of an advice this is for other people but what helps me usually is either finding some nice new music to distract me while I trace or be on voice chat with a friend and simply discuss for a while. Having a conversation is what usually works the best for me but I could see how it might end up being tough for someone who wouldn't have a lot of experience that doesn't just pretty much vector out of habit to be able to focus on both. Out of curiosity, how hard would it be to vector a photo of a figure? I ordered one that I really like and I happen to be nearing completion of the vector I'm currently working on.
>>2131266Since it does not have the linework and photos of the figure would be muddy when zoomed in. Honestly it is insanely difficult since IRL does not translate to 2D in general. It wouldn't be surprising if the proportions of the body are different from the art it was modeled after because 2D does not translate to 3D. Head to body ratio being the biggest one.

>>2133009I like it
>>2133009While the vector came out well enough, I have just a few suggestions:Judging by the ends of your lines, it seems you used stroke to fill or something of the sort for all or most of the vector. Which is fine, but it looks like you used the same line weight for everything (if it's not, it's a barely noticeable difference to me). Using strokes makes it way easier to consistently create line variances between different fabrics/materials. At the very least, hair, skin, and clothing should be different weights. I know a lot of people here prefer hair to be thinnest. Also, finishing the sleeves would make the vector much more useful, without constricting it to a mobile wallpaper.Otherwise, it came out pretty well. Maybe some colored lines could be a nice alternate version.
>>2133009That's one of the finest vector work I've ever seensasuga
>>2133020>>2133028>>2133042Thank you ^^>>2133040You're correct. The only lines with different weights are the lighter yellow lines on the obi (I think that's what it is, the sash around her waist). Just a personal taste. As for finishing the sleeves, that's a bit beyond my skills at the moment. I can do small things, like finishing the left-hand horn, but I'm lost on big stuff. Partly why I provided the svg so anyone could finish it if they wanted. Line thickness was 0.5, to match what I did.
Tell me, would it be possible to work on this size? I'd like a vector of just her and the pillow. A couple other versions of the image: https://catbox.moe/c/0taie1waifu2x: https://files.catbox.moe/ew0t55.jpgI can provide other images to show how the eyes are done, if it's hard to make out the details in this.
Would anyone happen to have the vector for this lovely?>>2130599
