Dude! How'd you make the Dunst notification transparent without including the text, images and borders? When I set it in the Dunst config, it makes the entire window transparent. I'm using compton.
>>
>>2110121
he didn't, it's probably just not that noticeable.
>>
>>2110121
Most applications with good graphical support let you specify an 8 character length hex color where the first two characters are the alpha value. Compton handles these values automatically--he probably just changed the background color to something like #7f000000.

> Open your Firefox.exe with Resource Hacker and go to 24 - 1 - 1033

> Scroll down and find the four lines saying supportedOS Id=

> Delete the topmost of the four lines so only three supportedOS Id lines remain between application and /application

> Hit Compile Script

> Save the .exe file somewhere under a new name

> Open the .exe you saved with Notepad++ (yes really)

> Save the .exe file with Notepad++ without editing anything as firefox.exe

> Now put the .exe in your Firefox folder

> Your window buttons will now look great

The last steps with Notepad++ are necessary because otherwise Windows doesn't notice the script inside the .exe was updated for some reason.

All this does is make the Firefox window UI forget what Windows 10 is and thus doesn't draw the hideous buttons in the titlebar.

I've been lurking for a long time, and I've riced my pc in the past, but I had to take it off to install updates (win 10 is pretty shit). For everyone running linux, are you posting your daily driver? Or is it a laptop/secondary?
>>
>>2114157
I have two main computers at the moment. The one I use the most is my laptop, running arch & i3. If we're talking about purely productive application, I use it for correspondence, research, and some light programming mostly.
My desktop is running debian. It's mostly used for more heavy lifting involving 3D simulation and rendering. Both have a smaller windows partition that I boot to when I have to use a program that doesn't play nice with WINE.
90% of the time I'm using linux. If I had the choice, I would exclusively use linux.

Has anyone tried creating a oneechan theme with pywal?
I don't know any CSS at all, so im a bit puzzled as to how to do it.

From the pywal docs, i gather that i need to import a file like so;
@import url('file:///home/username/.cache/wal/colors.css');
But i'm not sure where to place this. Putting it on top of the OneeChan config file makes it not work anymore.
I already have a custom thing working, so i just need to access the pywal variables.

NNN is generally faster then ranger, especially when browsing big dirs like my void-packages repo. I do tend to switch between the two tho, but if im just quickly looking for something i will use nnn

Really like this. Keep it up. Maybe try showing less info on ncmpcpp to get more minimal (like header_visibility = no, statusbar_visibility = no, titles_visibility = no)

Maybe try ricing elementaryOS? Never seen one of those in these threads, so dunno how good it is for customization.

did I do gud?
Also why does neofetch show a different font than is in my .Xresources?
>>
>>2116793
idk if installing polybar would classify as ricing tbqhwufampai. the font shown in the fetch is probably for the gtk theme.
>>
>>2116793
Is that Luke's build of st? If so, get rid of it.
>>
>>2116809
You're not wrong but adding user-created modules was hard at first. Plus I've changed its size, shape, and since made it transparent.
>>2116835
Nah it's this:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xst-git/
Except I didn't even have to build it since void's repos have a lot of shit from the aur. Unless you're talking about the colors. Those are mine.
Any tips on getting colors to work in the terminal for progress bars and other stuff? Should I just build vanilla st from source since you can change the config that way?
>>
>>2116836
I'd definitely go with st over xst because if you're using the latter, it completely defeats the suckless philosophy. Build st from the ground-up, so you can learn it, and don't install with the Xresources patch as it'll essentially become xst again. If you don't care about this shit -- which you shouldn't -- use urxvtd and completely free your mind of headaches with its proper implementation of Xresources (it also has a faster startup time than st).
>>
>>2116838
I may take your recommendation. One thing though
>urxvt
>proper implementation of .Xresources
What the fuck? I can never get it (or any terminal emulator but xst for that matter) to properly use Xresources. Lemme guess, "works on my machine?"
>>
>>2116848
>Lemme guess, "works on my machine?"
Well... yes? You're the first case of someone having trouble with urxvt and Xresources I've seen. Worked for me on the countless installs of Arch and Void.
I'm sure you already know this but just in case:
- Xresources is located in ~/.Xresources
- once you've saved it, you'll have to run "xrdb ~/.Xresources" for it to be actually read
>>
>>2116850
Yep. But for whatever reason it's never been so simple, even literally copying themed Xresources from git-hub.
I've learned a few things in a short while of tooling around with dotfiles and poorly documented programs and such though... so I'd be down for another learning experience building st.
>>
>>2116848
You have to load it in your .xinitrc and maybe source it in your .Xdefaults too
>>
>>2116859
>You have to load it in your .xinitrc
Or simply any startup script.
>source it in your .Xdefaults too
Xdefaults is deprecated.
>>
>>2116895
>>2116859
I know this. How do you think I got it to work work xst?
Btw using .Xdefaults instead was one of the first things I tried.
I don't know if I have bad luck, but like half of the things that are supposed to just werk don't. Another example was pulseaudio just werking on my arch build, but when I distro-hopped it didn't. Not only that, but the master control in alsa is separate from the other controls, so in my i3 config I have my volume buttons set to change master, headphones, and speakers.

Your workspace icons needs realignment, and use a flat icon theme.
