How many of you knew you could do this?
>>5561212>>5561217Looks like it's TIME TO GET MOVIN'
This is one of the few good arcade-style shmups for the C64. Not many people played it, as it was published by a German mail order company towards the end of the system's life.
>>5562228Underrated game. One of the best for its system without a doubt.
>>5561971>mail orderLiterally no retail release?
>>5561971Just a bit Gradius inspired
>>5561539You know when someone starts the weekly thread asking about retro "hidden gems" nobody ever brings up Hyper Zone. Fun, simple shooter with impressive graphics at the time.
This one is debatedly retro, as it came out in 2001. Depends on whether you lump the C64 in with PCs/Macs or with consoles.>>5562353Sort of? I had mixed the company up with 64'er. CP Verlag (the publisher) was not a mail order publisher. Technically they didn't even sell games, but they did sell digital magazines on disk, which included 3-4 cover games that they paid to publish, for a price of DM 7.90 (Game On Magazine) or DM 19.70 (Golden Disk Magazine). You could get these at shops or game stores, where they came on a black label and a 1-page cover. They were basically a poor man's Thalamus, as most of their games looked beautiful but had average to poor gameplay, playing like interactive demoscene productions (probably because they were the only C64 devs left in the mid 90s). LotU was one exception because Thalamus had planned to publish it before they went under.
>>5561230¿Name of the game?
>>5562759It's in the filename.
>>5561547It's real, good luck entering that on your SNES though.
>>5562726MK8D 200cc > SMK > MKSC > the rest
>>5563496That's the exact same engine as the PS1 Road Rash, it's even using the same animations for the bike/kick.
>>5561547newfag it's real
>>5563060>MKSCThe GBA game?
>>5562561>>5562650Always interesting to see stuff like this. Games for old hardware.
>>5564750This looks like a cereal commercial.
best game or bestest game
>>5564458Pretty sure that's Genesis or SNES. Unless someone used a filter or whatever.
>>5562501and now i hear spoony in my head
>>5565273This is wild.
>>5565273What the fuck is this?!
>>5565871Is this game relatively new? I'm guessing it's a 2d version of the other portal games
>>5565838Neat. I have a thing for games where the playable character is a real animal. Is the C64 version better than the NES one?
>>5560898That's Red, not Ash.
>>5561203>>5561208FRICK YOU I HAD TO LOOK UP VIDEO OF A FINISHED BURGER I DON'T EVEN LIKE BURGERS >:(
>>5561547Arbitrary code execution exploits are real. I watched SethBling do it manually with a multitap and tape. He injected a hex editor, Super Scope driver, and Flappy Bird. TasBot has injected a version of Super Mario Bros, made of World's assets. It fits in SNES's RAM.
>>5561231>>5561236imagine the smell
Do you guys know how to view webms on your iphone?
>>5564816>>5564819I need to play this
>>5566125Yes, it was released about a half a year ago. It's Portal on the Commodore 64.>>5566137I'd go with the NES version mainly because of the convenience of having a dedicated jump button, instead of pressing up.
>>5564990Huh. Never knew there was a Paradroid: Isometric Edition.
>>5566381On my Android phone, I tap them and they play :-)
>>5566627Still the best BMX game ever
>>5566598This is a weird way to play DX
>>5565262Vector games are so pretty. I wish the arcade bar here would get Asteroids. I've only been able to play the real thing at a temporary museum exhibit.
I should probably give up on making Spectrum webms work.
>>5566476This looks cool.
>>5566480What the fuck is even going on here? Is this even a game?
>>5565871nigga are you fucking kidding me lol
>>5560898That looks like Super Mario Deluxe for the Gameboy Color. I wish I wasn't autistic.
>>5568141This looks awesome.
ANYONE KNOW WHAT GAME THIS IS FROM?
>>5568342Paragon Sexa Doll (パラゴンセクサドール Doll), a Japanese "visual novel" developed by Heart Soft and released in the early 80s on the NEC PC-8801, a primitive PC that was pretty big in Japan.
>>5568197You move the dot out of the path of the approaching walls. It gets faster and more frequent while rotating to disorient you.
>>5568357It's the trippiest thing I've ever fucking seen.
>>5568351Thanks for the info. I'm slightly stunned that you know this lol.
>>5561184Fuck I love that game. Makes me miss playing Tremulus and Natural Selection 2.
>>5561608I remember being blown away that they changed the style to grayscale and changed the music and even had the voice boxes for this set of levels. Plok is a god damned masterpiece.
>>5564814That attack is so lewd.
>>5565992Funny its called Soulless, because the cutscenes have so much soul.
>>5568503I wish they'd make a new tenchu sequel. Something a bit slower paced and less full combat focused than sekiro
>>5568197It looks like a remake of the PC game Super Hexagon.
>>5564990I played the sequel Magnetron on my C64 quite a lot. But I'm not a huge fan of isometric controls.Too bad there isn't any decent C64 gameplay footage around that I can make a WebM from onlyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2AnkANTTxEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAJi9CEJ3D4But I don't think that I can handle the game via an emulator anymore to make my own footage.
>>5568964So the proper choice is to waste granny? Great.
>>5569173This game is underrated as FUCK!
>>5569375why does literally every 2.5D fps before the build engine look so tedious and unfun? doom is the only one that got gunplay right.
>>5569508Shut up silly Zoomer, your opinion is shit
>>5570971That is impressive as fuck. Is that the ZX Spectrum?
>>5571090Interesting. Thanks for posting.
>>5571150It is, but the performance varies depending on the section of the game.I'm sure most people at the time didn't care, though. Just being able to move aroudn and interact with 3D objects in "realtime" was enough of a novelty, judging from how magazines at the time talked about 3D vidya.
>>5571294Cool. Thanks for the reply.
>>5561230>>5561231>>5561236>>5561241such a fun and shit game.. love that you can end up nude in the jp version and almost nude in the us if you let everyone die but the mc. was always fun staring at her pixel buttcheeks while running from things
>>5571348>you can end up nude in the jp versionWhere can I find video of this?
>>5565273damn pirate raiding and blowing shits up after boarding.... pretty sweet looking space combat... colorful visuals that pop out. damn this game looks great. what is it?
>>5571387not the best quality but herehttp://d.hatena.ne.jp/video/niconico/sm7889155 (japan)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUCl3IGfxNQ (us)
>>5571412>>5571396https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_HavocThat webm has pretty much everything there is to see in it
>>5561203Not waiting at the last step for an enemy to be standing on the top bun before dropping it
>>5561212>>5561217This game is so under appreciated. Some of the most fun i've ever had.
>>5561218what the fuck?
>>5564842>>5564845>>5564849>>5564854>>5564863I have so many questions
>>5571497>Capn Crunch's Crunchling Adventure>this exists
>>5572782"What's the commotion?"
>>5572860Underrated game. Capcom was so great in the 90s that even their low tier arcade games were still pretty solid.
>>5573012What console/computer/whatever is this for?
>>5573062That's pretty fucking fascinating!
>>5569280Nah I remember you were supposed to mirror the side and radio it in. Can't remember correctly but believe there were scenarios where you had to waste her though
>>5572782One of the most underrated FPSes ever.
>>5566418It's a fucking great game. Legit one of the best beat 'em ups ever made.
>>5566143It's Ash if you choose to call him Ash.
>>5574045that's supposed to be like that, right?
>>5574054>that endingHow in the FUCK is he even doing that?!
>>5573297What's going on here?
>>5566584>>5566587what are all these pinball games played on
>>5577103No idea, as I didn't make those webms. I'd GUESS either Pinball Arcade or Visual PinMAME, but that's purely a guess.
>>5574028>>5574030It's a shame that there were never more 3D beat 'em ups. The genre never really had time to have its masterpieces like the 2D era did.
>>5579276Not retro, but Godhand, my dude. You can't get any better than that.
>>5579305That's 1 fucking game and it BARELY even resembles a beat 'em up. I'm not sure it even really counts as being in the genre. It's (relatively) more like Devil May Cry: Fists Edition than it is like, say, Final Fight.
>>5565273God I adore Major Havoc and all those Atari Vector graphic games. They're simple and sometimes clunky, but in the best ways. Top tier arcades imo, Major Havoc and Red Baron being my top two favorites.
>>5580492>Red BaronThanks for the heads up on this. I'll have to look into this.
>>5580553If you want more, check out classics like Battle Zone and Black Widow, which if I'm not mistaken is the first twin stick shooter? Anyways, those are fun too. Then you got the Vectrex library but I'm not rich enough to own and collect for one of those despite how cool they are.
>>5573320It's a shame that the gameplay of Rule of Rose is so shitty. The framework is pretty damn creepy and amazing
>>5581849>Battle Zone and Black WidowPlayed both already, but thanks again anyway.
>>5581914Survival horror games are garbage gameplay-wise.
>>5582360Yeah, but Rule of Rose is bad even by survival horror standards.
>>5563496I loved that game as a kid
>>5583862Looks like a Road Rash rip-off. But it's actually worth playing though?
>>5574061What does /vr/ think about Pro Pinball?
>>5574054How is this even possible? Is it even real?
>>5561283not me. that looks like it hurts.
>>5565592How does this port stack up to other versions?
>>5565653This looks interesting.
>>5565689Did the C64 actually get an exclusive Aliens game?
>>5565986What is the point of this game?
>>5588775It's not out yet. The original game was never released on the C64 back in the day because the coder's wife broke the WIP discs in an argument.>>5588779There were 4 games based on the movies released on the C64. Conversions were also made for the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC.
>>5588847>There were 4 games based on the movies released on the C64.Huh. All originals (meaning not the same games that consoles got)?
>>5566603No matter what Kojima thinks, the NES Metal Gear games will always be the best games in the series.
>>5589776I think the first 3 are original, while the one based on Alien 3 is a console port.https://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=https%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D81https://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=https%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D87https://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=https%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D88https://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=https%3A//www.lemon64.com/games/details.php%3FID%3D83
>>5561176If only enemy AI was this realistic today
>>5589846Interesting stuff. Thanks.
