I just spent like 60 dollars to get a retro receiver, a snes to GameCube adapter and this controller. This is the best way to play Gameboy and Gameboy Advance games. No lag that I can notice. I can do the rhythm parts of Mother 3 with no issue. Fuck that 200 dollar Hori GameCube controller.

Dude, no. Check out this baby:
>>
>>5439660
It looks like a playstation controller and an n64 controller were left out in the sun all day and they melted together, yuk.
>>
>>5439676
lol

I never understood the hate for the GC controller, except that the C-stick is not a proper substitute for the C-buttons when playing native N64 games like OoT. And I love PlayStation 1 controllers, so your joke sounds rather pleasant.

>going through an adapter as well

It's a really good controller though. I'd prefer it over any wireless controller just for the reduced lag. Its dpad is also godly
>>
>>5439684
I just hate the tiny d-pad. It's the same size as the GBA. No need for all that.
>>5439689
No noticable lag. for a casual like me anyway. :)
>>
>>5439695
well enjoy it then :)
>>
>>5439701
not op but very wholesome.

>snes to GameCube adapter
I didn't realize such a thing existed. I might actually pick up a Game Boy Player. Can it also play GB/C games?
>>
>>5439760
I got the Raphnet one. Dude makes great stuff.

Also it totally does. I use the Gameboy Interface software loading off an SD. Put a Xeno chip in my GameCube.
>>

>analogue stick
>small, oddly placed gba-style dpad
>analogue triggers
nah
The people aren't ready for the final redpill... but holding the outside prongs of the n64 like pic related is the most comfy retro controller ever.
>>
>>5439771
I always did that as a kid. My thumb could easily reach the analogue stick.
>>
>>5439771
Never could hold it any other way. Always felt right even as a kid.
>>
>>5439779
>>5439780
What no that's fuckin weird. I meant left thumb on the dpad, not the stick. are you nba players wtf
>>
>>5439779
> hold the left side in a looser grip and use analog from there, with index fingers resting on L+R, and middle finger of the right hand for Z
The only way that makes sense. How would you hit L holding the middle prong? Just seems awkward and if you don't have tiny hands that would feel pretty crowded
>>
>>5439785
6'4" now, yes. So at age 8 or so maybe a slightly smaller than average height fully grown male
>>
>>5439785
Just 180cm. >>5439790 got it right.

There is not a single N64 game that places unique, necessary functions on L, Z, and R all at once, so you would never need to access all three at the same time. Sometimes there's a game like Smash that puts an unnecessary function like taunts on L, or a game like Sin and Punishment where L and R are duplicated so you can hold the controller 2 different ways, but every game is designed to be played by holding only 2 prongs on the controller.
>>
>>5439871
Sounds about right. I was a young kid when it launched and had really only experienced consoles like the NES, SNES, Genesis, and PSX so when this came out it seemed natural to me to hold the outer two prongs and I learned from the ground up that way, so it's as natural to me as holding the middle prong would be for most other people (which I can probably never get used to at this point). Having the freakish hands helped I guess.

I played Mother 3 on my modded Wii close to a decade ago and had no problem with the battle system. Used both classic controller and GCN.
>>
>>5439646
You're not missing out on the Hori GC pad. The D-button has almost no give compared to the one on the conventional GC pad.
>>
Why not play it on a 3DS XL?
>>
>>5439646
>i hurred and durred
I keked. I'm glad your hipster chinkshit isn;t so laggy you can't play an RPG with it.

never owned an n64 eh?
>>

Well no, the best way would be with to use a gameboy advance as a controller with the gba player on the gamecube

How's the dpad on this? Was sorta interested in the GB style like yours but heard there are some input issues similar to the Switch pro controller.
>>
>>5441374
what controller, though, because the gamecube d pad is awful?

>i can't readingcomprehension

It's almost identical to the SNES controller but more prone to accidental diagonals (but you can fix this yourself with the tape mod)
I hear the M30 is better about this

I wish we had an N64 controller variant where the middle prong has literally nothing on it and is totally vestigial
