Games with Infinite Replay Value.
>pic related

Why do people whine about new releases, modern gaming and sequels when there are retro games that never age, will always be fun and take years to master and do challenges in?
>>
Replaying games is for autists, didn't you know? God forbid the average zoomer does the same thing twice his brain will disintegrate without that constant drip feed of shallow engagement and novelty.

Wipeout is great too, still run the N64 version from time to time.

Infinite replay is among the reasons why fighters are the best genre.

90's had some great arcade racers. I prefer XL and 3 to 64 but that one's good too, especially on the actual hardware since you need the n64 stick's precision.

Lol. I started noticing this too.
>>
>>5436274
How is that different from arcade games?
>>
>>5436265
>>5436274
It's the same with Mario Kart 64 threads being flooded with Crash Team Racing and Diddy Kong Racing anons.
>>
>>5435606
There should be a distinction between single player and multiplayer. There are droves of games from many genres with infinite replay value in multiplayer, the players are the ones that make it interesting/good. It's vastly more difficult to come up with a single player game with infinite replay.

They hop from game to game never getting deep into any. and when they do they barely manage to finish on default-normal settings, while using dozens of continues and savestates.
They'll gush about some character or how much they LOVEEEEEEEEEE some series, but ask them a basic question about level mechanics or boss strats and they go blank.

Lel, fuck right off. Every time F-Zero is posted some guy comes out of the woodwork to post about Wipeout and how it's better even if the thread had nothing to do about the quality of the game. We had a thread about the our favorite F-Zero character recently and he came screaming into that thread too.
>>
>>5438353
Okay but >>5435586 didn't do that? Worry about that shit when it actually happens you schizo.

I am familar with F Zero but never played Wipeout. Whats the definitive order of the series?

He didn't do it here, but i've seen it in literally every thread thats been more directly related to F-zero. This thread only used it for the OP image while discussing a different topic and the first reply had a wipeout pic, so I just put two and two together.

>>
>>5438369
I have legitimately never posted about Wipeout on /vr/, >>5435586 isn't even my post.
>>
>>5438360
There's no such thing besides maybe the chronological order, otherwise the games are very different. Wipeout 64 might be a good starting point since you like F-Zero because it has very responsive handling without the inertia that the other games have. Otherwise you have distinct styles, 1/XL/3 have similar kind of gameplay mechanics but 1 has been surpassed by its 2 sequels and there's no point playing it first. Then you have Fusion which is its own thing unlike any Wipeout before or after. Then you have the new series starting with Wipeout Pure the mechanics of which were used for every other Wipeout game since, albeit heavily tweaked so you're still getting a different experience if you play Pulse and Omega.

There are very few retro games that haven't aged in some way.
>>
>>5437604
don't worry, the games they play changed so that strategies and thinking are optional.
>>
>>5438364
Great, go be overly sensitive about F-Zero in a thread where it's actually the relevant topic instead of sperging out when someone mentions a similar game in a way totally unrelated to your sensitivities.

Now then, I find one game that really lasts is Zelda 1. You can enjoy that game a lot, though admittedly after doing both quests and going for swordless, I'm not sure what else to do beyond replays with progressively less equipment. The randomizer helps here I suppose.

Sega made GX.
>>
Great score attack games. So, most of the arcade shit from the early '80's.
>>
>>5437254
I'd say score attack focused games are the closest you'll get to that. Something like Sonic Adventure 2 or Battle Garegga are the things that immediately come to my mind.

>>
>>5437845
What is Drahon Crystal? Sounds like I should look into it.
>>
The most replayable games for me are usually standard linear games that I enjoy a lot. Stuff like Rayman 1, Tomb Raider 1, as well as a ton of flexible PC RPGs. I've lost track of how many times I've played BG and FFT. The quality of the game is usually all that matters for longevity IMO.
>>
>>5435586
There are stacks of great retro vidya you don't need to replay to enjoy.
>>
>>5445286
no
>>
>>5445286
>need
SHALL NOT
>>
>>5444984
Wow I usually can't stand replaying a linear game after I've beat it.
>>
>>5440689
>doesnt know sega made GX

you need to get cunted
>>
>>5435606
but theyre boring
>>
>>5445989
The core gameplay is really fun, I'm just not into multiplayer anymore personally.
>>
>>5445989
nah.
>>
>>5445989
You probably think they're boring because you only fight the computer due to not being able to handle multiplayer.
>>
>>5435575
>>5435601
If you count mods/usermaps, then Doom, Quake and to a lesser extent Duke3d.
If you don't - then Diablo 1/2
played them for 20+ years straight, still play them
Not many games come close to this amount of replay value

>>5435606
Once you master every aspect of every character they become boring because at that point CPU on highest difficulty offers no challenge at all, and all the human playerbase you can play it with has already migrated onto the next big thing.
>>
>>5449959
Yeah playing against the CPU is only good for practice and it's not even great for that. Like chess it's a multiplayer genre that only shines with real competition.
>>
>>5438360
Don't listen to this pleb>>5438756, the non-retro Wipeout games except Fusion and Pure are mindblowingly good. Wipeout 2097/XL, Wip3out:SE, Pulse, HD and Omega are among the best products of pop culture in general, let alone video games. So just pick any one of these and you're good to go.
>>
>>5450632
>Pure
What? Fuck off fag Pure is good especially now that you can apply the 60 FPS hack on PPSSPP for some sweet time trials.
>>
>>5450637
it's alright but pulse blows it away in every regard
>>
>>5450983
Pulse physics too grippy and not as fun
>>
>>5449959
Street Fighter 2 is still one of the most popular and frequently played fighting games ever.
>>
I replay my games all the time but I still want new releases and sequels. But mostly in franchises that I already have an attachment to.
Maybe that's why I don't feel like i'm missing out by ignoring indies and like 95% of all triple A releases.
>>
>>5451097
You sound genuinely autistic.
