The annoying mid-bosses hindering the pacing of the levels and certain gimmick stages put it behind Rondo, Dracula X and IV for me, but still great soundtrack.
X68000 > Super IV > Bloodlines > SNES X > CD Engine X
>>5286543Rondo of Blood is a masterpiece.
>>5286682>X6800Is this the new contrarian choice because Rondo’s gotten too popular?
>>5286543I like that John Morris is related to the Morris from the Novel Dracula. A lot of bosses though
>>5286748Yes unironically.X68K is shit.
1 > 3 > Bloodlines > X68K > 2Haven't played the rest
Bloodlines is good, but I wish it focused more on level design and less on bosses. My personal favorite classicvania is still 3.
Dracula X is good
X68K >>> Rondo > SCIV > Bloodlines >>> XX
>>5286590>still great soundtrack.Best overall ost of the classicvanias IMO>>5286543It's really gud but the best Castlevania will always come down to personal preference since almost all the games are fantastic.
>>5286962>It's really gud but the best Castlevania will always come down to personal preference since almost all the games are fantastic.This.
>>5286748No, rather it's the closest to the NES games therefore it's the best.
>>5287406>has an item that's literally an HP refill herb that you can use anytime>closest to the NES games
>>5287412Yeah, compared to IV which has loose air control and the 8-way whip and crouch-walking, or Rondo's/XX's/Bloodlines' item crash move, the healing herb isn't such a big deal.
>>5287430Dude, being able to heal anytime you want is a big deal though.X68000 also has diagonal-down whippan. But yeah no other CV is really like the original. CV III only if you play Trevor-only.
>>5287438You are triggered way too much by the herb. It's not optimal since it eats like 15 hearts, offensive subweapons are better to bring along instead, like the cross.>X68000 also has diagonal-down whippan.Only when you're mid-air. Rondo and XX were the only one to get whip mechanics right, but then they add stupid stuff like the backflip, jumping onto stairs, item crash, etc.>But yeah no other CV is really like the original. CV III only if you play Trevor-only.Yep. The director of the NES games quit working on them for some reason, which explains why all the 16-bit entries deviated from his wonderful formula.
>>5286543That would be 3 Dracula's Curse
>>52865431 > 3 > Rondo > Bloodlines = SCV4
>>5287524>playing the version with shittier soundpleb
>>5287876More like>playing the version with jacked-up difficulty for no good reason
>>5287935Because that's the American way, pussy
>>5287939Getting jewed by companies because they don't want you to pay less for their videogames (renting) does sound like the American way.
>>5286748yesx68k has the best soundtrack in the series. my issue with it is that it could've had a couple extra levels. why didn't they just bring over the rest of the original castlevania 1 levels?
>>5286706I love Rondo of Blood outside of the anime cutscenes and agree. Bloodlines, IV, and III are also masterpieces.
Vampire Killer, Rondo and SotN are my top 3. You could say I'm more of a tansaku kinda guy.
>>5286543X68k > RoB > NES > Bloodlines > X > 4 > SotN > some non /vr/ titles > actual shit > any 3D title > 2
>>5286962>still great soundtrack.>Best overall ost of the classicvanias IMOit's a good contender for sure, and it has my personal favorite of all CV tunes in it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ncu6d24xM_Y
>>5286543It's certainly a lot better than that so-easy-it's-boring CV4.
>>5289338Stage 8 onwards on IV is harder than anything Bloodlines tries to do.Then again, 16-bitvanias are overall pretty easy when compared to 1 or 3 (Trevor-only)
>>5286543Everyone who disagrees with OP is a faggot
>>5289902OP is a faggot.
>>5289338I love bloodlines (there are only 2 CV games that I outright do not like at all--and you can find them on a Game Boy or Arcade near you), but it is in no way harder than IV. Bloodlines doesn't even get mean until the 5th stage, and at that point, you're almost done with the game.
>>5289904When is OP not a faggot?
>>5289680IV should've started at the point where you reach the castle
>>5290541No way. Then the game would have been too short and you would miss the kino moment of arriving at Dracula's gates. Not to mention the "shit just got real" boss theme that plays for the last part of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZiXPnc0das
>>5290541I enjoy the first couple levels, especially the submerged city part.
>>5288864>personal favorite of all CV tunes in it.Good tune. My favorite from Bloodlines is easily "Calling from Heaven" but they are all fantastic m.youtube.com/watch?v=cENqIz_x5jU
3s my favorite, it has the most atmosphere despite being a NES game. Bloodlines feels the most like the NES games besides X6800. I like Dracula X/Rondo the best of the 16 bit games for how fun the gameplay additions feel when you get good. You feel like more of a force than you do in the other CVs.
>>52909983 has some sick graphics. The swamps are the most aesthetic stage in the series. My favorites are 3 > Bloodlines > Dracula X.
>>5291008The swamps are great. The music and frogs add a lot to their atmosphere also. The most atmospheric stage to me is the abandoned mine though. Something about its placement in the game, music, difficulty, and look make you feel so isolated.
>>5290998>Bloodlines feels the most like the NES gamesAlways thought this myself. The fact it came out a couple years after IV probably felt like a step down to most normies.
>>5292316>>5290998It feels rather different than the NES games>can turn facing position in mid-air>no numeral ranks for subweapons>can jump while on stairs>no cross>"item crash" orb>up diagonal whipIt's like a mix of IV and Rondo, more like Rondo.
>>5292320No need for the harsh words fren. My point is that a casual gamer that played IV in '91 and then later played Bloodlines in '94 probably thought it was a step down for the series instead of just different. It's no secret that Bloodlines has been underrated for years and only recently(last couple of years) started getting the love it deserves.>>5292323Obviously it evolved the formula a bit. It just "felt" closer to the nes orginals compared to the other 4th gen entries.
>>5292363>It's no secret that Bloodlines has been underrated for years and only recently(last couple of years) started getting the love it deserves. You sound like a zoomer who just got into retro thanks to e-celebs in recent years. Also Bloodlines is very easy.
>>5292363>It's no secret that Bloodlines has been underrated for years and only recently(last couple of years) started getting the love it deserves. It's no secret that you are new to Castlevania discussions and don't realize we've been talking about this game and praising it for literal decades.
>>5292382Boomer and I still have my original copy of Bloodlines from back in the day.
>>5292363>normieposter is a frogposterWhat a surprise.
What are the official power level rankings for Classicvania difficulties (first loop only, use highest difficulty setting where available)
>>5294576This and the other Castlevania soundtracks had so many Chinese counterfeits sold online, it's hard to tell what's original.
>>5287430What the fuck are you on about, X68K has the exact same air control retard.
