CES SEGA NOMAD - BOOMSHAKALAKA

Is this another AtGames disaster?
>>
>>5286261
Shoo, child. Adults are having a conversation
>>
>>5286261
no, this was yet another disaster project sega decided to vomit up during the mid 90s for US market and discontinued it after less than four years because it sold so poorly.
>>

This particular one is Retro-Bit's newest showing from CES.
I guess OP was too much of a fag to actually share that useful information.
I'm wondering what hardware it will use and screen quality.
>>
I want to gut one and put a pi 3 inside

oh, very nice. that would have useful to know. my eyes are shit so it kinda looked like the original to me.
i found a video, the guy describing it claims it's only a prototype so far. however, it has my interest.

My god, the information he gave was good, but it's so awkward to see an old man talking like that.

yeah, I agree. i guess he was VERY excited. :)

WHAT IS IT WITH YOU PEOPLE AND YOUR DESIRE TO PUT A PI IN FUCKING EVERYTHING!?
>>
>>5286367
They're cheap, small and versatile, cockface. That's why they're so ubiquitous in low cost projects, like arduino boards.
>>
>>5286367
>put a pie inside

It's an extension of their diet.
>>
>>5286302
Anyone know yet if those N64 pads have rumble pak support or built in rumble?
>>
I like that it has a Reset button. FUCK YOU, X-MEN 2.

The question is, will it be any better than this thing?
>>
>>5288241
Wasn't that X-Men 1 not 2 that required resetting at a point in the game?
>>
>>5286535
>cheap
wew
>>
>>5289468
Honestly, you can probably do better than that. This is just lazy.
>>
Why do machines like this always use ARM CPUs and emulate? The actual hardware has to be cheaper than a modern processor
>>
>>5290832
Actually (lol) you get low-end ARM much cheaper now if you buy in high quantities.
>>
>>5286367
you can put your pi in there
>>
>>5290832
This is using a FPGA chip by the way, updates through the USB port.
>>5286261
No RetroBit distributed product, this is also a prototype as final will be more robust.
>>5288965
Yes, much.
>>
>>5290832
While it's generally true that electronics get cheaper and cheaper, it's often that new technology is capable of accomplishing the same task as the expensive and specialized hardware needed in the past. There are examples in fields like auto technology or industry where the old, expensive way was completely supplanted by new technology rather than undergoing incremental improvements but I can't think of any right now
>>
>third party handheld system on a chip
Why is anyone excited for this? It's literally a SupaBoy in a Sega flavour.
>>
>>5291079
Oh gee, I sure am glad you're not part of the marketing team.

They were until your piped up
>>

>This is using a FPGA chip by the way, updates through the USB port.
Doubtful.
>>
>>5291409
No, this is a licence Sega system, this is nothing like the AtGames fuck ups.
>>
>>5292546
I don't see what that has to do with anything. They absolutely will not be using an FPGA, especially if the $80 price point is accurate. It'll either be a generic GOAC or an emulator running on an ARM SOC.
>>
>>5291409
Considering you don't understand that atgames makes licensed shit and that "licensed" isn't a magic word that makes things good I'd say your opinion is pic related
