What is life like in the timeline where this game got finished and became the second generaion of Pocket Monsters?
>>38312764Pokemon died before getting to gen 3
>>38312815And that's a good thing
>>38312764Instead of Gen 2 killing the fad prematurely now it kills the entire series. On the bright side we get a Gen 3 that's even better than it is already but after that failed resurgence the series doesn't come back.
>>38312764In that world, people would be bummed about Pokémon 2 being barely larger than Pokémon RG, ad Hoenn and Sinnoh would never happen. Finally, the anime would have to explain how Ash spent 80 episodes traveling around that small Kanto map, but would be expected to travel the rest of the map (i.e., the rest of Japan) in about the same amount of time to close out the show, as Pokémon 2 would close out the games.
>>38312764>What is life like in the timeline where this game got finished and became the second generaion of Pocket Monsters?not so great considering that WWIII kicked off in 1998 between the Warsaw Pact and NATO in Western Europe, killing tens of millions and leaving most places east of Paris a charred wasteland under control of the Soviet Union. In terms of how things are for Pokémon. Gen II is a massive success.
>>38312764Ash wins the National Pokémon League (replacing Johto and all non-Indigo regional leagues) and the show ends. Also, President Dole presides over the Dot Com boom and beats Al Gore in 2000 to be re-elected and the Communist Party of Russia defeats Yeltsin in 1996, re-sparking the Cold War.
>>38312900Is this some kind of weird bait?
>>38312764Hoenn and Sinnoh no longer exist and gen 3 is the first non-Japan based region. Also Tajiri directs gen 3, which is a late game boy color game now.
>>38312900>>38313029It has to be, since the Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991. No Pokechev.
>>38314742Soviet Union dissolving caused Pokemon Gold & SilverSoviet Union existing is a precondition for Pokemon Spaceworld to be released
>>38312764A lot of weird shit happened after Spaceworld 1997. Reminder that>December 1997 was when the Porygon episode aired and anime went on a 4-month hiatus>The last major TCG expansion was November 1997's Team Rocket, the next one, Leader Stadium, being released in October of next year>The Pokemon Company founded in April 1998>Pokemon 2 are scrapped and started from the beginning, thus setting the stage for Pokemon Gold and Silver as we know itThe plan circa the end of 1997 was to have Pokemon 2 released in October/November 1998, the same time the anime was supposed to end its first series. The marketing campaign for the second set of Pokemon would start then, with TCG, a new anime series, manga. Ever noticed how Mew flies away towards Mt. Silver at the end of the first movie? Yeah, that was a teaser.Pokemon Shock controversy pretty much put an end to these plans. With media pressure on all things Pokemon, the games development became much more stressed which probably caused Satoshi Tajiri to step down around this time and let Masuda take reins as the new director. This also marked the change in attitude, and the new games were no longer supposed to end the series, thus they set up TPC to better manage the new long-lasting IP.
>>38312764The concept of a Generation(tm) is a Masudaism
>>38315620at least game freak could release finished game since it leaked... I don't get why they can't now, they have more memory and they can have complete kanto in it, it won't be much different from gen 2 but I want see finished product and buy it
