I want to get less shit at pokemon style and design by drawing a pokemon family daily. If you want to be less shit too then please join me! I would love to see your takes on them in whatever style and aptitude level. Together we can can eventually suck less. Gonna go start bulbasaur now. Anyone up for it?
>>37358722I'm always up for some good drawfaggin. Really trying to create a style for myself, so I'll hop on board.
>>37358859Ayy looking forward to it! What sort of style are you ging for?I'm planning to go through them in order, to force me to do ones that aren't usually my favourites and develop a bit more design flexibility. I'm also going for the early style where everything was a bit less rounded and more muscular.1 down
>>37358859>2019>”Faggin”Do me and every other artist on the planet a favor and don’t waste your time trying to learn how to draw. Chances are you’ll drop it in a month or two anyway, so save yourself the time/effort and just go back to jerking it to children or dogs or whatever
>>37358874Aight mate, relax. I've been doing it for much longer than that, I just want to be better at it.
>>37358722Sure, I drew a Bulbasaur.
>>37358889Ha! That's rad. Cute style, you have really nice line work.
>>37358874>getting this triggered over a wordI've been drawing for the past five years or so with varying levels of quantity and I barely feel above beginner level because of it. Just want to improve, that's all, mate.
>>37358874Fuck off autismo
>>37358925>2019>”Triggered”You continue to prove my point. The art community wants nothing to do with this babbybrain 12-year-old bullshit. Maybe you’d have better luck in animation. There’s nobody not repugnant doing animation outside of a few animation houses and like, Steven Universe staff with any semblance of morals or sense of consequences for the goofy shit they let fly out their mouth anymore. Good luck kiddo
>>373588702 down. I'm using some of the oldest art for reference, didn't notice before the subtle changes these gys have had, neither of them have back toe nails, ivysaur only has two leaves.
>>37358938I hope you're trolling, this is some of the most batshit pretentious bollocks I've ever heard
Not any sort of drawfag but ill contribute a bulbasaur just to make that autist seethe that someone who can't already draw drew something in current year
I'm at work so have a shitty web app thing. This seems fun though, will keep an eye on it.>>37358943>>37358889Noice
Done with my last one for the day >>37359291>>37359338Ayy cheers, those are actually pretty sweet
>>37358722K, drew this
>>37359361Dude, so much talent! Those are insane!
You're all really good! Keep up the good work! And maybe do some magnemite and its evos.
>>37358870>>37358943>>37359361Those are awesome!
>>37359517Adorable! >>37359594This is gorgeous!>>37359529>>37359609Cheers dudes, they're probably the least shitty pokemon I've ever drawn, decent start aside from forgetting to shade the flower crown, whoops>>37359548I'lol each them properly after about a month but sure, I'll sneak a magnemite before charmander tomorrow
>>37359615This is fantastic, I love your style, super cute and full of personality
>>37359632Not mine i just found them on twitter. Guys doing one a day i think
>>37359594That is just adorable, thank you.
>>37359594I may be drunk, but this makes me very happy
This is exactly what I need to get me back into drawing.I just got a cheap $80 tablet recently but I've got no clue on what drawing program to use. Any suggestions.>>37359361Also that Venusaur is amazing.
>>37359361Do you have an art account like deviantart?
>>37358874Fucking kill yourself. You bring absolutely nothing to anyone in your life and are nothing but a leech
>>37359815No idea dude, I draw on a shitty app right now. What sort of stuff do yo draw? I've found photoshop elements good enough for everything more complicated I wanted to draw. And thank you!>>37359819This is really sweet and a great drawing, thank you for taking part!>>37360314I've got a twitter but it's mostly for non pokemon stuff, paintings and monsters and stuff>>37360373Ha, haven't seen any if these in a while. Magnemite could pass for something official honestly
I know im bad but please rate
>>37360319Whatever you say big guy. Just stick to your little video game community and mind your business.
This is my Ivysaur done on phone
>>37362486Cute! It's pretty amateur but your lines are actually nice and steady, not all sketchy. Next thing to work on would be your base shapes.>>37362611Woah that's really nice! I like the high angle pose, and the leaves look great too
>>37362970Thanks, i actually spent a lot of time on it, do you know any good programs to use? I feel like mine looks too "computer"-ish while a lot of the others look sort of hand-drawnI'm >>37362486 btw
>>37363069I'm using an app called sketch, it's pretty simple but I don't think a tonne of fancy tools are necessary for practice or more basic draws like this. If youre on a computer than paint.net is decent too. You might find it looks less computery if you use solid shadows and lights, and it will also help you get familiar with confidently defining shapes using shadows
>>37362486Come the fuck on.
>>37358722Not a drawfag by any means but I thought I'd contribute to the thread, OP
>>37364550Oh nice! I love your more geometric shading, and painty colour choices. Cute pose too.
>>37364562Thanks man. It's kinda sketchy and I didn't refine most of it, but I just wanted to contribute.
>>37364550>>37359819I would play through a game where all the art was like these.
I've only been drawing a few days, so this is a bit outside my skill level. I tried to make him laying down.
>>37364687Good start! Pushing outside your comfort zone is a great idea too, keep it up!>>37364803Lovely! The really bold outline looks cool. You guys are really good at the leaves, I really struggled with doing any of them from odder angles like that front one.I'm moving on to the next line now, looking forward to seeing all yours! Thanks for all the bulbasaurs!
>>37364908Wtf I'm trying to make my bulbasaur.
>>37364938More bulbs always welcome,
>>37364908Those leaves took like twenty minutes just to figure out the lines for.I'll have to stick to one 'mon a day, but keep it up with your drawings, anon!
>>37362486Some people aren’t meant to be artists anon
Magnezone wasn't coming out the way I wanted it to so it's just Venusaur>>37364908I really like this one, if Charmander looked more like this ingame I would pick them
>>37363108>>37364300>>37365442I got photoshop and redid bulbasaur, quite proud of this one unlike my last >>37362486
All your works are amazing guys.OP is best though. We had daily draw a pokemon threads but they died...
Decided to contribute again. This is pretty fun.>>37364908Good shit, OP. Really digging your style.>>37365485Love this style too. Do you do animation? Your art reminds me of an animator's sketches.
>>37358874>le current yearFuck off back to >>/reddit/
They look great dude! Yeah I might only manage one on some days too. Not a chore though, do whatever is fun!>>37365485These are really beautiful, your poses are very dynamic, fo you have art up anywhere online? >>37365982Same question to you, your drawings have so much depth, would love to follow you both>>37366298Oh! That's a big improvement already, good job dude!>>37365951<3 cheers mate, these are the best pokemon I've ever draw for sure. Let's see how long we can keep it alive for! I'll keep making threads as long as people keep posting theirs.
>>37365485>fren is dedVery cool venusaur, I love your style.
>>37360373Beautiful and eerie
>>37365982For a newbie you're doing great. I recommend you think more about shape and anatomy (imagine the bone structure, maybe like you're rigging a 3d model or puppet) and you'll get much better dynamic poses. You're ambitious and that's good, and your capture of lighting with geometry is a great start. I'll be real though this is obviously a beginner's piece. Keep going!
>>37366797that's really cool
>>37367793Oh wow I wasn't even anticipating constructive feedback. Thanks man! I'll give the structured pose a shot and practice some more with those. Dunno shit about drawing animal body types so I'll probably do some gestures of dogs and horses and stuff in general.
>this thread>tfw I love the Bulbasaur line
nice idea op, have a charmander is not great but i tried
>>37366797This is beautiful! I love your soft colours. The junction between the ar on our left and the top of the head looks a little odd but this is just lovely.>>37367596This is cute too, looks like a plushie.>>37367793Please hit me up with some crit too if you would sempai>>37367897Yo there's a site you might like, it's called line of action. It's really fantastic for practicing animals, and people too. Would recommend lesson mode, which gives you a buzz ch of 30 second ones to get you used to capturing the feel of a body shape and motion quickly, then increasingly ones a few minutes to an hour long for practice at more detailed anatomy and stuff. Totally free, I've found it super useful. Anyone lurking on drawing in this thread should go check it out if they want to improve their anatomy.>>37367984Patrician taste friend >>37368153Ayy the next wave begins! That's really cool, nice to see some physical media! Cute pose. Would keep an eye on how body shapes join together, the tail and underside of the belly should join together pretty much as one continuous line.
>>37368272*bunch, *ear, whatever other typos
>>37368272>the tail and underside of the belly should join together pretty much as one continuous line you're totally right, i'll work on that, thanks anon
>>37368983Looking forward to your next one! I'm working on my charmeleon now
>>37362486It’s shit but it has heart
>>37359361Great colors and I dig the expressions. The feet aren't grounded and it looks like you added the grass after the fact instead of considering where they'd be placed. The eyes further away on Bulbasaur and Ivysaur both seem too small as well. These are just nickpicks though. These obviously have a lot skill behind them and your Venusaur def one of my favorite renditions.
Gave Magnezone another shot, happy with how this one turned out>>37366797>>37367596These are really cute!
>>37369293Thanks man, I honestly appreciate the nitpicking! Hahaha you really nailed it with the grass. I did the shadow on bulbasaur then thought to add the grass at the last second. I like it though as a little framing, and will work to better thoughtfully integrate it. Yeah I definitely need to work on connecting the feet to the ground better. Feet are a bit of a sticking point, you definitely pinpointed another big weakness. I paint fantasy stuff and have been doing a bunch of claw studies lately to try and bring them in line with everything else, after spending so many years just doing monster headshots. And yeah I see what you mean with the eyes! I'll keep an eye on that going forward. Cheers mate, I really appreciate the advice. And thank you! That's high praise! I'd love it if you would pick apart the char line too when they're all done.>>37369519Another beautiful piece! I love the simplified but very natural feeling shapes you draw them with. I would love to see more of your art.
>>37363108By app do you mean that you're drawing on a tablet, like an iPad or something?Do you use a stylus or just your finger?
>>37370734Yeah, with the little stylus. No tilt and kind of basic pen pressure but it's alright, can draw decent stuff after getting used to it, can't complain even if a proper drawing tablet would be much more user friendly. On desktop I use photoshop elements for actual complicated art. Would use paint tool sai but my computer can't handle it.
I regret nothing
>>37358943If you're still here I wanna use the old style for a personal project of mine. What programs and brushes are you using?
>says he wants to do daily threadsquits after the first onelol
Tied to move a little faster with this one today so I can do charizard too>>37371319Nice one! I think you need to add a bulge along the outline where our left eye produces from the head a bit, and move our front right leg down slightly. Your shading looks really good, and the inside of the mouth. Great job!>>3737134010/10 made the thread worthwhile >>37371345I'm here, I'm using a free app called sketch, and just using the basic brush at full opacity. There isn't really anything in this app that can replicate the old watercolour style, but it's surprisingly fun trying to get that feel using solid colours.>>37373393Keep up dear this is day three
>>37373879I'm not too happy with this one but eh, I'll take the ones that don't turn out great with the ones that do and maybe go back and redraw them after 100 or so pokemon and a but of practice. Not keen on how the tail ended up shaped pretty much the same as charmander too.
first post in over 5 years lurking.
>genwunner artmeh this is babby tier stuff
>>37374180I love it! That venusaur is fantastic
>>37373879I really like the way you draw your scenery. Mind if I steal that for future use?
Wasn't sure what to do for this one so it came out kinda boring>>37374180Pretty good, I like how they're interacting with eachother, makes the picture feel more lively.
Mm actually I think I'll redo charmeleon now>>37375601Yeah man go ahead, do better than I did with it! That's cool, nice to see some more stylised stuff
>>37375680That's rad though, it's got a lot of attitude
>>37373879Amazing. I love how simple but stylistic your surroundings are.
>>37374211Well, i made this in a old thread
Just gonna pop a fat Bulbasaur>>37375753Damn dude I love your poses for them!
Here's my Ivysaur. One of my favorite Pokemon designs and I'm trying to practice more dynamic poses from scratch so any feedback is appreciated!
And now Venusaur, I think this is the worst out of the three I did today but oh well. I tried doing an interesting pose for this one.
>>37378030I actually really like this! The extremely dynamic pose and the style of the returns reminds me a lot of old japanese art. The flow of the plants looks really good.>>37377533This one has a few proportion issues with the eye and ear sizes, and could do with more care in the back toes, but again is very nice! >>37376946Chunky toad bulbasaur is best bulbasaur! Toes again here but this is great! Really nice stab at the old art style. Thanks for posting them!
could this be the revival of msp threads
>>37374180guy who did this.Didnt have enough time to finish the next 3 before work, so i thought i'd just post this for now and then finish it in a couple hours
>>37368153here's charmeleon, i use a lot of references on this one
>>37378129If I pulled that flower off would he die?
Amazing thread. Here is my charmander.
Good morning anons>>37378129Msp welcome, nice dandelion toad>>37378792Looking good so far! Your style looks very friendly. >>37379230Nice! The body flows much better this time! The expression looks good too! I think your next thing to work on would be limbs, they look a little stiffly posed. I'd suggest taking a look at pokemon in dynamic poses, or better yet real life animals (because studying how real limbs and structures work will give a better understanding than studying something that is already a caricature). Looking forward to your next one! >>37379376If you pulled on the trunk and all the roots digging through its body then probably >>37379515I'm glad people are having fun with it! It's nice waking up and seeing a bunch more drawings. Nice one mate! Cute pose!
This thread is so comfy, I wish I had pencils/pens around here to draw in my own style or a drawpad, I guess I can try to draw my favorite starter first evolution from memory.
>>37378792>>373741805million hours in microsoft photoshop later. Also has anyone else noticed that Charmander has 4 fingers, but when it evolves it loses one?
just found the thread. I like the premise. Starting from the beginning, I'll try and catch up, tho.I almost never draw pokemon on model or accurate to the original style, so I'm gonna use this thread to push the proportion and shape of them. Also to force me to actually draw mon since I only ever draw humans in the drawthread.
>>37381203So yeah, I got super into trying to draw the face with a mouth and then my high kicked in about 3 min into it, and then I just stopped caring and just rolled with it, looks terrible, is off-colored, and overall shitty. Love this line.
>>37381234>that facewhat kinda of art do you usually draw anon?
>>37381274Kek>>37381226Lovely! I'm really enjoying your family portraits. They're charming and full of character, I really like your style. The biggest thing I'd say would improve them would be keeping an eye on consistent limb sizes (like charmeleon limbs on our left are noticeably thicker than the ones on our right). Your expressions are fantastic! Huh, I never noticed hat about their fingers. >>37381203Glad you're enjoying it anon <3 I do love when a thread like this takes off and people get enthusiastic about taking part. >>37381242Ayy you did one! Slightly shitty is welcome too mate. The face is cute. Enjoy your weeds.>>37381234That's a pretty lewd bulbasaur anon haha. Really nice shading on the bulb, looks super silky.
>>37381342thanks, yeah that's something i know i need to improve on.Im trained as an animator, but im lazy as hell when it comes to construction, gotta improve though, 2019 is gonna be my year.(yeah seriously, i don't know how i didn't notice that all my life)
>>37381433Oh really, that's awesome, I've got some professional animator friends and mad respect for that line of work, it seems absurdly hard to draw so much consistently and quickly and with such flexible understanding of pose and action. I'm a painter, but yeah, got a lot I want to improve on too! This is the year mate. You got your animation up anywhere? Would love to look anywhere it.
>>37381274I know what you're thinking, and no, lol.pic is some of the stuff i've done for the drawthread, basically just human + female>>37381342maybe no more blushes on my drawings then.also thanks! trying to get better with values and form since I've almost exclusively cel-shaded since I started digital art. still not great tho
Here's Charmander. Does anyone know any good techniques for coming up with some more original/dynamic poses?
>>37381529How about you don’t give charmander neck cancer first. Technique with coming up with original dynamic pose? Really just look at other artists, study emotion and body language, go from there. The coloring is spot on though.
>>37381529Ayy original spikey charmander! Your linework and overall proportions are good but yeah you could do with brushing up anatomy and oses. Would suggest a site called line of action for that, free practice tool for anatomy and dynamic poses. Would recommend lesson mode, you can just set it for however long you want to practice for. I've found it so useful for getting a better grip on anatomy and poses.
Actually just gonna go full shill, here's a link https://line-of-action.comWould recommend to anyone in this thread who wants to practice anatomy and poses
>>37381465oh yeah totally, that's why i verge more on the storyboarding/production side of things.though i only graduated last summer, so i've not really had the chance to work in the industry yet (shit's competitive)uhh, well i guess it's ok if i've been asked to shill.so I have my animations on my site here:https://kassian17.wixsite.com/cyanimationbut i post my artwork on instagram most of the time.https://www.instagram.com/cyan_imation/hope you like it.
>>37381529Pick a move the pokemon can do. Draw it doing that move
Just finished my Charmeleon and this is the one I'm most happy with so far. I did some posing practice on line of action so I think I got the proportions a bit better this time round.
>>37381667Oh, nice stuff dude! Made an account to follow you. Youll have no problem getting work, never been a better time for young webgen animators. Some of the professional ones I follow are absurdly young. Where do you want to end up with your work?>>37382205Oh hell yeah man, that's tonnes better! Body feels nice and heavy and weighty. I'm well chuffed at the difference between some first and second draws in this thread, great work. I think next you should do some shading studies, take a close look at the light in the old sugimori art, it's very loose but used very purposefully. At the mo some of your lighting seems a little random, like the bit along the bottom of the jaws and neck. Your overall effect is good so you obviously have an idea of light direction and stuff, but could do with studying how the lighting wraps around objects to create the impression of solid shape and depth. Really great work though, this is a huge step up from the charmander and is really well drawn!
>>37381502Haha I'm ging the opposite way, trying to learn to effectively cel shade after dping realistic work exclusively. That stuff is all yours? Really nice work man, it looks like you're super flexible with drawing style, that last one is fab, could be official
>>37382205There's something about this that's really compelling. Love how the tail lays. Great job, anon.
Bam Charizard. I'm pretty happy with this but I liked my Charmeleon more.
always been partial to bipedal ivysaur
>>37383070Oh nice! Yeah I think your charmeleon is your best so far but that's not bad. Again you've got the flow of the body down nice. I think you have an issue with the wings and tail and how they intersect, the way they are now the tail is going straight back and should be behind the wings, or else should be curving forward at the base if you want it in front of them. Making solid anatomy progress, keep it up!(Working on my squirtle now)
Mm tried something a bit different with this one but not sure about how it came outOh dang more draws>>37383291Haha it's still pretty sexy faced even without the blushing. The flower looks lovely, I love the sharp contrasted shading and that little splash of pink on the shine. I'm not sure about the placement of the feet, I feel like our right foot /leg is too extended for the angle of the body, if that makes sense, like it should be more hidden by the tummy at this angle? Or bent with the knee raised rather than extended straight maybe. Those are some pretty intense eyes!>>37383316Hell yeah man scenes take dedication! It's actually not bad, and will look proper decent if you work on having smooth distinct outlines. Lol at the little sexy pose dude. Please do more!
>>37371319Don't mind me, just a 2 am charmander poster
>>37382385i'd just love to have a job doing something creative. im not money driven, it's just about finding something i enjoy.that said I do want to go into producing shows, even being a showrunner. (then 4chan will have another Our boi, untill they inevitably start hating me)>>37381226 (You)>>37374180anyway, another rough pre-work design. gonna finish this after work.
