wtf is this game, like what's the point?
never played a single one but what's so fun about this game? it plays and looks like autistic garbage with mishmash of random characters

Ive been playing Smash since the N64 and this is the most unbalanced and unplayable version yet.

It's true though. Everytime I go online it's nothing but K. Rools spamming projectiles and I can't get near them. Fuck this game
>>
>>446431459
You've been playing since the 64 and you can't deal with projectiles? Imaging playing a game series for so long and not getting good.

It's a fun party game and that's it. The fact this shit shows up along real fighting games is the true crime.

Mid tier at best

it's a casual party game that's fun to play with friends. that's really all there is to it. /v/ puts way more importance on it than it really deserves, though.

I've been playing this game for a few days now and I can't figure where the depth comes from. It seems like it's just up+special down+special etc and no real moves at all? Like, I don't get it. Are there any combos at all? In other fighting games you have to learn at least a few moves but that doesn't seem to be the case in this game.
This is a serious post.
>>
>>446436086
It's different from other fighting games in that you don't have to do retarded button combos that aren't intuitive in order to do one move. Instead it's just A to attack, B to do a special attack, and the control stick to modify the direction/type of special. It's much more intuitive, and there absolutely are combos - they're just much harder to pull off since the knockback can change based on how much % your opponent is at.
>>
>>446436086
>>446436086
There are plenty of moves. Neutral special, side special, down special, up special - thats 4 right there. Then there are grabs, and your typical A attacks (jabs, kicks, etc) - and tilt / Smash attacks. Not to mention air attacks. Lots of moves in total.
As far as combos go, good. I dislike, no, i HATE games that require players to read a manual before playing.
Sorry buddy. I just dont have time for that shit. If I wanted to read a game I’d play D&D. The “fun” had from Combos and special moves in typical fighting games simply elude me.
>>
>>446436063
>Never seen a button check in his entire life
>>
>>446436373
This anon probably explained better than I did, but glad someone else understand that combos that require memorizing a manual are well, just shitty as fuck gameplay.
>>
>>446436086
Define a "real move" to you. Any number of attacks are actual attacks that will deal damage and help you get closer to victory. What about the attacks in the game make them "fake moves"?
>>
>>446436373
The first few matches I played I had no idea what was going on, how I won or lost, or why nobody had a health bar. It was kinda fun to learn all this as I went but I kept feeling like if I played with my 6 year old cousin he might actually beat me through sheer force of button mashing.
>>
>>446430645
>>446430856
Barneyfag is going to show up
>>
>>446436850
How is that any different than a typical fighting game? Except for the fact that your 6 year old probably isn’t bothering staring at a fucking manual for hours on end? Oh wait neither am I.
>>
>>446436842
A real move would be something that has input of more than just holding a direction and pushing one button. Or chaining button combinations together

>button mashing
I don't understand how you think this can happen in a game over half focused on spacing and environmental awareness. If you button mash like some do in traditional fighting games, aren't you just going to kill yourself?
>>
I got this game the other day, haven't played a Smash since Melee.

I don't if it's because I only have joycons at the moment or just inexperience, but the controls are hard to grasp for me. The game is so floaty and fast, I find myself dashing all over the place or finding it hard to even follow an opponent.
>>
>>446437203
So it's more than holding a direction and pushing a button, but also more than a combination of button inputs?
Do any fighting games have real moves, according to you?
>>
>>446437203
And why is this the definition of a real move? Cuz u played SF2 growing up? This is arbitrary.
>>
>>446436816
Soul Calibur has intuitive combos that don't require you to "read a manual". And how hard is it to memorize a few move sets for the characters you like?
>>
>>446437203
There are Ryu and Ken if that's your thing. They even reward you for doing the traditional commands by making their specials come out faster and stronger.
>>
>>446430494
Its a kiddies game on a kiddies console for man-children that still want to breastfeed from their moms tits.
>>
>>446437363
Sorry I meant to say that a real move would be chaining button combinations.
>>
>>446437203
>unless its a fireball motion its not a real move according to me
>>
>>446437610
>still want to breastfeed from their moms tits
who doesn't want this?
>>
>>446437642
Thats a combo or a string not a single move you retard.
>>
>>446437642
Half the fun in Smash Bros is learning what moves combo into each other and how to space yourself to ensure they all hit. Which becomes a chain of button inputs.
>>
>>446437697
Damn, that shit really got under your skin didn't it? I'm not saying the game isn't fun, just that it doesn't seem to have much depth to it. I can't figure out why it has such a huge following or why people think it takes as much skill as a real fighting game.
>>
>>446437917
>says something retarded and gets it pointed out
>lol u mad bro
>definently not just trying to obviously bait
>>
>>446437917
That's because you have autism
>>
>>446437229
I'm not really sure how you button mash in smash. The stages and movement are too open and the inputs themselves are so simple that you're almost guaranteed to up special and kill yourself.
>>
>>446430494
If you never played smash bros before, stop using your phone during class, you little faggot.
>>
thrilled that 90% of the people who buy this game are too cheap to spring for a 20 dollar lan adapter so I get to play smash bros the powerpoint presentation with them

>>
>>446437917

>why people think it takes as much skill as a real fighting game.
>fighting games
>skill

Fighting games never had any real skill. People just learned to do footsies and counter the opposite way. Or if you're playing an anime fighting game, you're just chaining zoning moves.
>>
>>446438604
Ya really got em that time.
>>
>>446437917
Easy to learn difficult to master
Which contrasts tekken which is difficult to learn difficult to master. The bar for emtry is much lower in smash than in more traditional fightans

These posts actually made me consider committing sudoku. Fucking smashtards talking about combos in fighting games.
>>
>fightbros have been calling Smash a party game because they're too braindead to understand how it works
It all makes sense now holy shit
>>
>>446437424
I like playing as many characters as possible, fighting games where I need to use Memory Skills limit me to just a couple of characters.
I'm not going to store like 1000 combos in my head, I'd rather read a book at that point or go see a movie.
>>
>>446436063
This was literally a button check.
>>
>>446430494
nice troll there, bud
>>
>Man terrified that the game is so simple he will be defeated by people worse than him
>Has shown he has absolutely zero understanding of the mechanics of the game because despite all evidence to the contrary and having played it apparently he keeps expecting it to be exactly like Street Fighter

Literally every argument you've made is "this plays differently from other fighting games". And you're afraid people worse than you will win? How about you actually learn how the game is played before you start complaining people are worse than you. I know this is a bad word around /v/ but you are an entitled idiot. You think you're better than people and on the first second of picking up the game, you should be better than people. The game ows it to you to be the best at it without doing any work or practice.
>>
>>446439184
Its not even fighting game players most of thentime though. Its easiest to understand smash as a fighting game if youve actually got a few fighters under your belt.

people are being aggressive and unhelpful but you also played a game for a day then waltzed in talking about how your powerful mind has analyzed the game and can't possibly see how theres any depth to it, which is just you being retarded. Just go on twitter and search #ssbu_(any characters name) to see combos and tech for them

https://twitter.com/chPseudo/status/1077788856076906496

https://twitter.com/ExaltsEye/status/1079812866075578368

just a couple from characters I play. Can't find a video for it but a thing I do with ridley all the time is down throw near the ledge then just jump fair chain them to the blast zone. Every character has combos.

>>
>>446440017
Yes, having to memorize button combinations takes memory skills, especially when every character has completely different button combinations that do completely different things.
>>
>>446430905
It's widely considered to be the most balanced, actually.

I still don't understand that move. In the original trilogy, sucking cannonballs back into his gun and making him eat backdraft was the way to beat him. Why is it one of his best and most annoying attacks all of a sudden?

lol i appreciate your reply but it is indeed memory based skills, how is it not please? :3.
