Where do we go from here? Is it even possible to save it?
>>
>>111441616
>Is it even possible to save it?
No. Rain Johnson deliberately wrote the series into a corner. Star Wars is dead. I don't even care to see the next movie.
>>
>>111441616
No. Just move on and watch the originals.
>>
>>111441616
It had a good run.
Disney owns Star Wars
EA owns the video game rights
It's literally over. It's all over.
>>
The Last Jedi killed the whole trilogy and retroactively made The Force Awakens bad.
>>
>>111441616
Retcon TLJ, all of it. There is no saving it.

TFA is salvageable with a good sequel. I remember enjoying TFA, but its enjoyment is entirely dependent on the sequel. I can't stand TFA now because I know how things end up - disappointing.

So yeah, retcon at least TLJ. If you're feeling spicy, do over the entire sequel saga.
>>
>>111441616
It's over, its trashed.

I suppose it's POSSIBLE (although highly unlikely) that a standalone Star Wars movie could be good on its own merits. However, Rogue One and Solo were far -- FAR -- from that. So I'm not getting my hopes up at all.

It's probably just fucked in the ass forever, let's be real.
>>
You could if you just had TLJ be Luke's force-induced fever dream. Then he wakes up and meets Rey to get his lightsaber for real. TFA is less bad in that case.
>>
they can save the plot line, it will need to have some kind of retarded twist like time traveling to "undo" retarded decisions done by Rian.

For example they already killed the bad guy, Kylo ren was obviously supposed to be an antagonist that would go "grey" alongside rey or at least redeem himself, now they will make him the bad guy out of a sudden, just to keep first order going.

>>111441616
If I were Disney and I wanted to save Star Wars I would literally stop production and make a public announcement that the prequels and the sequels should no longer be considered canon. I would then re-release the OT in its original form but just cleaned up of dust and scratches and put that out in the theaters. I would apologize for all of the bad Star Wars the public has had to endure since the mid-90s to this point in time. Then I would announce a new series of films set in the star wars universe revolving around the force but taking place here in our galaxy and far into the future. It would have to derive a lot of inspiration from other sci-fi series not just incestuously leeching off the OT, like no more death stars, not more salt/ice planets. It would have to get inspiration from things like SAO, Cowboy Bebop, even the Marvel films. If it sucks at least it doesn't really have any effect on the originals. If it's amazing then build a cinematic universe based on that.
>>
>>111441893
I have rewatched it. Definitely not a strong movie, but it had potential to set up a good trilogy.

It’s the same shitty movie, the only difference is the hype as the first new Star Wars movie and abrams at least didn’t put any pants on head retarded scenes in.
And don’t even mention mystery boxes. It’s not a mystery, it’s literally just a screenshot. The knights of ren, cool yeah, but it’s a screenshot. Snoke. Luke. The list goes on. The only two interesting characters were phasma, because she was this bobafett type character that performed so terribly she made getting eaten by a sarlacc look competent. I feel bad for the actress.
The other character is, traitor. Which is an out of place walking meme, but at least it stimulated some interest. Why the fuck is he yelling traitor, what the fuck is that weapon, so on.
>>
>>111441616

For starters they need to fire Kathleen and Rian. Then an apology followed by distancing themselves far away from the sequel trilogy and then retconning it in a decade or so. I doubt any of this will happen though unless IX bombs.
>>
>>111443024

We definitely had the teaser and the title by now for TLJ, right? And even earlier for TFA. I guess they're waiting for Celebration.
>>
>>111443128
It's bad PR to not have a title for your movie in the year it's coming out no matter how they end up spinning it.
>>
>>111443128
No. We had the title this time around but they saved the trailer for Celebration for TLJ.
>>
>>111443039

I think people were just excited and so full of anticipation that they didn't notice all of the garbage. Same thing with TPM. But at least TPM and AotC can be fixed if you were to tweak the script and reshoot parts of them. Nothing can really fix TFA or TLJ because they're bad at the script level.

This is the most retarded hedging of bets and I’m tired of seeing it.
Everything has potential.
>let’s have some guys sit around a table and say dindu nuffin
>12 angry men
>what if a killer robot came from the future
>terminator
You can do this with everything. Storytelling is execution. What you can execute depends on your premise, but that doesn’t change how well the story is told. 1984 is an awful, depressing novel, but it is skillfully written, and that is what matters. Look at Mel Brooks. Young Frankenstein is just a lame retelling of Frankenstein, but it’s brilliant.
So fuck off with this potential. Every time you jerk off you’re potentially stopping the inventor of up the unlimited energy machine but you still won’t turn off the gay sex with hats on.
>>
>>111442401

Other way around for me. TFA was a fat wet fart of a start that wasted a whole third of the trilogy by retreading old ground. TLJ and Ep 9 being great might have retroactively improved its image, but now the trilogy as a whole is fucked.
>>
>>111446138
TFA is undoubtedly bad, but it could have been salvaged if TLJ was good and Episode 9 was good. It'd be a reverse OT even.
But TLJ somehow managed to be worse than TFA and 2/3 of the PT movies

The funny thing is, everything outside the Luke-Rey-Kylo-Snoke plot comes off a whole lot better as a satire.

Rose is your stereotypical bleeding heart liberal who gang-presses/guilts a black guy into joining her cause, belittles him for not living up to her expectations, throws around wild accusations of war profiteering, delights in freeing a bunch of animals while ignoring the whole child slavery thing, then sexually assaults the black guy while imparting her moral wisdom.

Meanwhile, Holdo is a walking argument for why you shouldn't automatically trust someone just because they have a vagina.

Wait how was this shit written? Is it like a story where each director just gets to take turns writing the next section of the story? I mean that was fun as a kid to make the story go in weird wacky ways but makes zero sense ifyou're actually trying to develop a narrative and well thought out characters
>>
>>111447583

That's basically how it went.
>>
>>111447583
They tried to recapture lightning in a bottle. Remember that the OT was directed in turn by Lucas, not Lucas, and then indirectly by Lucas. That turned out pretty okay. Meanwhile the Prequels were all directed solely by George and had numerous issues. Hence their decision to let a new Star Wars epic crystallize naturally.

Only it didn't, because the OT got lucky. The reality is the best Star Wars entries were collaborative efforts where one man's dictatorial retardation wasn't allowed to run rampant.
>>
>>111447821

They forgot that the older Star Wars movies also had an extra year for development between releases. It also allowed for the hype to die down and then start back up naturally, instead of being 'always on'.
>>
>>111447944
I don't think that's a huge issue, mostly because of Marve's release schedule. The real problem was TFA wasn't creative, had bland characters, and didn't make a lot of sense. Rogue One was really great in the aesthetics department but suffered from poor characterization. TLJ ran on retard logic, screeched like a schizophrenic street preacher, and split the fandom. Solo had a questionable lead and wasn't asked for to begin with.

>>
>>111448346
Most people don't care about either of those things. The movies are where it's at, and there just isn't anything approaching the kind of quality control Marvel employs. KK's methods are silly. She tries to be very hands-off and let the directors get creative, but if the directors don't report to the storygroup of their own initiative, the woman gets spooked and replaces them to keep things more traditionally Star Wars-y. That's the only pattern I see.

The reason why the OT worked so well is because they followed Lucas's dream of making a pastiche of western, ww2 and samurai films in a idealistic scifi setting. If you look at all the most appreciated characters and world building of star wars, all of them are adaptations of stuff from other genres of film.
In ANH you've got a black hat cowboy and his native sidekick, a wide eyed farmboy running from the destruction of his village, an old samurai Ronin, a princess, an evil shogun etc. and it all works because the setting is developed in a way where all the elements are recognizable for what they are, but also feel like they belong in the world.

When you look at the mainline Nu-wars, is there ANYTHING - themes, characters, settings that borrows from those classic genres? The closest thing to a character archetype is Poe the hotshot pilot and even he is a poor imitation that would be considered boring and 1 dimensional in a flyboy movie. Likewise, the closest action scene you get in the mainline films is the bombing run from TLJ, which was completely shit because Johnson can't direct action and clearly didn't take any pointers from the ww2 bomber films he was hoping to invoke.
Meanwhile, look at Rogue 1 - it's action in particular is a mix of Vietnam movies, ww2 and modern military thrillers and while the characters are mostly disliked for being flat and boring, the action is considered the best since Disney took over.

This is the reason why the nu-wars films don't feel like star wars.
>>
>>111442812
This is where, imho, Disney really screwed the pooch. The "real" money to be made by a Disney movie is NEVER ticket sales or DVD sales, it's the generations of merchandise that can be farmed from a successful property.

What good did Rian bring to Disney's merchandising? Fancy no names and casino scene attire? Red salt line figures? Cryptkeeper looking Snokes? He added nothing original that was good, and any good he used wasn't original. Who's lining up for Diversity Wars toys? Nobody. Rian missed the mark. He was so desperate to be (((subversive))) he forgot that the financial might behind SW is TOYS.

This doesn't get brought up enough. My uncle Scott spent a fortune over the decades amassing every you from every run from 77 to mid 90's. Hundreds of vintage toys, original packaging. It's the only thing he spent money on since he was cutting grass as a kid. Rian comes along and he's responsible for down syndrome penguins? Give me a break.
>>
>>111449464
I don't disagree with this. In fact it's kind of baffling. You'd think Lucasfilm of all groups would recognize George's creative process and push their directors to account for it. But instead the closest we get is recycled concept art.
>>
>>111449462
I love how long his videos are. I wish more content creators made three hour videos. I have bad insomnia, and they help me fall asleep. On a side note, I find them oddly soothing (maybe because all of his opinions are rooted in logic?) when I'm way too high. They keep me thinking about logic and reasoning, and I guess that keeps me from having a panic attack?
>>
>>111448477
>>111448945
The issue here is that there were some good stories in the EU and the only people they've got to develop the video game side of things is fucking EA, who are never going to write anything interesting. I haven't read any nu-eu stuff, but I'd put money on most of it being shallow SJW puffery.
>>
>>111443235
Want to fix TPM real fast? Make Jar Jar the *ACTUAL* "phantom" "menace". Everyone just sees this doofy simpleton, but what if it were all an act? George Lucas was headed in that direction, and enough details were left in the prequel trilogy for you to see it, we just never got the reveal of a Gungan Sith Lord.
>>
>>111449579
Wendig kicked off the post-Endor EU with some legit SJW bullshit that put woke-ifying the Star Wars universe far ahead of plot. Outside of that, it's just been just plain shallow. Needless elaboration on the OT Era and boring lead ups to TFA.
>>
>>111448202
>I don't think that's a huge issue, mostly because of Marve's release schedule.

Marvel films vary in quality but don't really match some things that the OT and the Prequels do.
>>
>>111449842
Marvel films are largely similar in structure. The OT and Prequel films were each largely their own beasts, as were the spin-off films. The issue really just comes down to quality control. I find it very hard to believe people would get sick of well-told stories set in the Star Wars universe, especially with only one coming out each year.

I don't care about the Star Wars movies anymore, but I need more Star Wars content in my life. I'm fascinated by the old Expanded Universe, and I want to get into them. I'm really only interested in the books from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, before The Phantom Menace came out. Where should I begin? I'm currently looking into the Thrawn trilogy, Shadows Of The Empire, Splinter Of The Mind's Eye, and those weird first draft comics that Darkhorse published a few years back. Bonus points if the book takes place around or between the first three movies.

What's wrong with SAO? It was a very popular anime sci-fi adventure series. I see no problems drawing inspiration from a variety of sources. SAO is a very long series with lots of characters and all kinds of interesting plots. For example, one plot revolves around a character that has a terminal illness. That alone would shake up the whole redundant character thing. Imagine if Rose had been based on Yuuki. Imagine if she was force sensitive and could use a lightsaber, imagine if she was sassy and sweet character but was dying of some cancer or something and by the end of the trilogy died in Finns arms. It would make audiences give a shit about her character.

There is no where you can go. Luke and Han are dead (and both died as failures). Leia is a corpse propped up to puppeteer. Rey has already beat Kylo twice and is the most powerful Jedi/Force-user ever. Rey’s parents are nobody’s. Snoke is dead and was never explained. The Knights of Ren haven’t shown up and probably won’t show up in Ep 9 if rumors are true. Kylo is probably going to die since it’s the “end of the Skywalker Saga” and “the end of the bloodline” and he’s the only character left with Skywalker blood (and you can’t have a Skywalker exist because Kathleen Kennedy and her cronies hate them). Hux is a pathetic moronic bitch that is non-threatening. Phasma has already been defeated twice.

There is nothing to get hyped about.

It would have been a marvelous and spectacular trainwreck. This is the same person who decided to make half his movie about a boring chase scene and a casino plot.

Could you imagine what he would have done in ep 9? He would have Poe and the Resistance begging Ewoks for help while Finn and Rose go to a Space McDonalds to steal food for the Resistance while stopping Space Ronald from killing the poor Space Cows.

This is the GoT generation in action.
>Mary, an old widow who spent her days tending her flower garden and watching tv, was shot to death in her home this morning. She was only 47. Her neighbors remembered her for her extravagant holiday decorations every year.
I could keep going but you get the point. While taking a shit, I’ve written a more interesting death than Snoke. I cheated a bit, but the point stands. Not that you should give much of a shit about Mary either, but you should give even less about Snoke.
I’m certainly not saying you have to be autistic. I recently rewatch Big Fish, and the ending moved me to tears, but fictional is fictional, there are no penalties or limits. You don’t innately care. “With a stroke of his pen, anon killed 6 million Jews.” That only happens in one overrated anime.

Saw a good fan theory about how 7 and 8 were actually inside Lukes head; some form of test from the force. Something like that.
Anyway, all of the new characters in the movie were aspects of his personality (Rey is his power, Poe is his confidence, Finn is his scepticism etc) and that the movies were a visualisation of said test; the result of which would be the full power of the force unlocking in Luke to answer some kind of thread. Episode 9 would see the test completed and reveal that it's actually taking place a short time after 6.
I really butchered the description here, but it was quite good at the time. Sorry you weren't there to read it with me.
The franchise is saveable, but there is no willingness to do so from the peoplke involved.

Splinter wasn't really canon as far as the old EU was concerned, and by EU I mean that which had been formulated up to just before Ep1.
You can read it, but it's never referenced nor has any bearing on any of the other stories. It was pretty much a given that Luke's first real meeting with Vader was in ESB, and not Splinter and thus it was not regarded as canon back in the day.

Truce at Bakura is set the day after the celebration on Endor.
Meh. It's not some 3 part epic like the thrawn trilogy, but it is supposed to be continuing the story right where ROTJ left off.

Shadows is decent enough.
The odd thing about SOTE is that it was construed as a Lucasfilm/arts "media project", so basically everything except a theatrical film. We got a novel, comics, video games and even fucking toys of all sorts, and a soundtrack as if it were the "official motion picture soundtrack". Everything but a film, which of course would've been impossible since it's set between ESB and ROTJ.

I've always been annoyed that such a relatively important set of events, that go on to affect the development of some characters and the plot of all subsequent EU stories to some degree, was made into a comic series and not via a novel like everything else considered "proper canon" during the day. But whatever: Dark Empire 1 & 2 and Empire's End.
They are highly stylized compared to virtually all other contemporary EU comics like the Tales series.

A better Solo origin story lies in Crispin's Solo trilogy. There are older Solo adventure novels (and Lando novels) but they were written during the same sort of period as Splinter so the galaxy wasn't as established as it later became. Crispin's trilogy takes this into context however so there are some chapters where he basically goes: "and then all this shit happened that I won't be covering her but they are in those novels from 20+ years before - so go read that if you want the details"

You've missed the window for the Young (and Junior) Jedi Knights series as they are for small children.
I enjoyed them as a kid, but I don't think I could bear to read them today. Just fond memories of a SW universe unsullied by suckage and cuckage.

The Jedi Academy trilogy is an odd one;
there's basically two schools of EU author:
Force maximalists, and force minimalists.

The latter have the force and its practitioners being very constrained, not being capable of much at all really beyond some mild precognition and psychokinesis and force persuasion etc. The former have Jedi and Sith being capable to destroying entire star systems with just the force and other OP'd shenanigans.

Jedi Search and the rest were written by Force Maximalist proponent alpha, Kevin J. Anderson.
Thrawn trilogy's written by a minimalist called Timothy Zahn.

The latter's a better writer than the former. Though, as silly as the former got at times, his shit was still fun to read as a kid and i'll remember it fondly compared to this disney era crap.

final cont'd
The x-wing series, and comics, is fun.
Doesn't involve the main characters so much and follows a bunch of other new republic fighter pilots and better illustrates how struggle with the imperial remnant after the destruction of Death Star 2, eg. the final capture of Coruscant and how the empire didn't just spontaneously stop existing after palpatine died and how true victory by the fledgling new republic was a very hard won thing.

This series skyrockets Wedge Antilles to side character in the films to a character that SW fags actually cared about.

They've killed legends development.
They're content to let what was already created stay, and reap the money that comes from it, but they don't want alternative stories being made now that challenge the shitty story they've fashioned.
I'm afraid it's cuck wendig tier writing all the way.
More unnecessary homosexuality that adds nothing to the story, soon trans shit injected in too and just all round shitty writing.
I, Jedi isn't the finest work of literature out there, and it's not even considered the best old EU book, but despite that it's still better than the new canon disney has cobbled together seemingly at the last fucking minute that shall only be used to push each respective author's identity politics and fad of the week.

I want you to put yourself in the position of a Disney executive that has full hiring/firing authority over the Star Wars department. How do you fix Star Wars?

Your goals are to
1. Ensure profits for the shareholders and meet the growth quota for revenue for the brand
2. Protect and uphold Disney’s reputation in the business and entertainment industry (i.e. no admitting fault or mistake, no articles saying TLJ or anything made by Disney isn’t canon)
3. Ideally bring renewed interest and excitement to the brand.
4. You can not appoint yourself into any creative position within the department, and anyone you suggest to replace existing positions must be a realistic choice.

The one movie I'd be interested in seeing would've been Rey joining Kylo.

>Kylo kills Snok
>guards rush to attack
>Kylo force throws Rey to the back of the room
>laying down in pain she looks up and sees Kylo single handedly destroying all the guards, using both the saber and force powers
>holy shit this motherfucker became op
>after he's done he talks to Rey
>didn't want her to fight and risk her life because she's important to him
>"your parents left you," etc. "join me and we can end this whole thing".
>Rey accepts and takes his hand

Now there's two ways it can play out. 1 is Rey turning to the dark side which is unlikely. But 2, she agrees to join him out of fear, and maybe hoping he can either turn him eventualy or find a way to destroy the order from inside. But meanwhile the resistance is despaired, as it's now basically Poe, Finn and the few others against the two most powerful people in the galaxy. Their only hope is finding Luke Skywalker and get him on their side.

As you say, you're between a rock and a hard place. You cannot say anything against Disney. Period. But you cannot continue the status quo of lowering interest and terrible merchandise sales.
Basically, you need to delete everything without anyone thinking you did it. Time travel is one way, but I don't know if it exists in Star Wars, and it's obvious to most people that it's merely a way of turning back the clock. If you can't go backwards, then you must go forwards.
What do I mean by this? Well, play 9 straight. I visualize a good way would be to have Hux assume command, kick Kylo out. Kylo leads a faction with Rey to reassume control. Have a subplot with other characters, who gives a fuck. They kill Hux, protected by the knights of ren, or whatever you want. And then Rey betrays Kylo, assumes control, cut to montage of atrocities. Fade to black. This is about 2/3rd through the movie. Cut to Luke. He seems disturbed, but nothing beyond that. Few scenes of his life, living in some city. Slowly make it apparent that there is no war on. Pull out young Han and Leia, with toddler Kylo. Luke goes to Jakku, finds Rey's parents, who are ordinary scavengers with a young girl. Add some shots of discontent of workmen, pilots, so on. Film ends with Luke meditating again, saying "I've had some troubling visions," to Obi or Vader's force ghost. Really rough draft, but hopefully that conveys what I'm driving at.
Make no hint of any of this during promotional materials. Everyone will praise the brilliant twist that the few people that notice will be drowned out. Suddenly Star Wars is hip again, and you have some easy sequels with Luke Skywalker travelling the galaxy, taking on apprentices (kylo and rey, really).
Two issues that come to mind: hyperspace ramming and Luke's age. Hyperspace ramming could be explained away an aspect of the prophetic nightmare, and helps with the characticization of Luke. He knows how things happen... or does he? 4 age, overload by force

>>111460883
Also I'm retarded, I didn't even read the post I was replying to. Assuming you have zero creative control, the only logical thing is to slowly squeeze out the entirety of the current writing team. I haven't read any of the Star Wars books, but just pick some fan favorites, offer the author some cash, there you go. Get Lucas, and a few other important people in the original trilogy. Ask for their creative input. Not everyone will respond, but keep it respectful and you'll get something, and then that gives it an additional stamp of authority. Just a massive backtracking, but subtly.
>>
>>111450665
I think the movie was actually 3 different movies abruptly cut and nailed together in a bad way and that's why the themes contradict each other. This master plan shit is just coping.

Still to this day no one pointed out the biggest red pill about star wars fans. Star Wars had a spiritual message of love and peace and evil destroying itself through it's own incompetence and own machinations, but the fans are 200% dark side fans who masturbate to Darth Vader and wished Luke destroyed the army in the end with her awesome anime powers that they sperged up in the EU "novels".

They don't deserve Mark Hamil, who is right about her character being derailed but from a completely different angle. The final confrontation between Luke and Kylo was the most Light Side shit ever. He literally tricked him using his obsession over the confrontation and the personal feud to simply just win time for the good guys. Luke tangled Kylo up in his own "stupid evil". Obi-Wan would've been proud.

>rian is actually a genius on a meta level, as he actually managed to
No he isn't. Jesus fuck some of the stupidity that shows up on this site.

First of all, it's painfully obvious from watching interviews, behind-the-scenes, and such that Rian actually thought he was making a movie that was going to blow people's minds in a good way. He thought he was making Empire Strikes Back 2.0, a timeless film that people with sophisticated taste would appreciate and that would make some alt-right assholes mad. He took plebs for granted, figuring that they'd be impressed by half-assed shit like the Throne Room lightsaber fight and Crait. What actually happened is that only Kathleen Kennedy, Disney bootlickers, and barely half of the most redditarded plebs actually liked it. Even feminists didn't like it.

If he had done this on purpose, which he didn't, it still wouldn't have been genius. It would have been ballsy, that's for sure. But it doesn't take talent to take a piss on someone else's hard work and ruin it.

>wished Luke destroyed the army in the end
>implying

The fact Luke tricked Kylo by using his giant hate boner and little man syndrome against him is great. The fact he didn't even need to duel him to accomplish that is also neat.

That all would have been super interesting if Luke had been depicted as a wise, powerful Jedi who had those army obliterating powers but chose not to because of the many lessons he learned during his original journey.

The problem is what happens before and after the scene: Luke is a failure according to Rian - he let fear overwhelm him and created Kylo. He gave up on the galaxy like a kid who shat the bed. Yoda has to come from the afterlife to teach him some retarded shit a Master Jedi equivalent should know.

If that character assassination wasn't enough, what was supposed to be a clever little trick turns out to be some life-ending bullshit.

only for a director with no intelligence or creativity like yourself.

unironically this, Kylo incel needs to have sex scenes with Rei. Preferably BDSM light like in Fifty Shades of Gray.
Fan girls will love it and they will flock to watch it in droves.
The movie will still suck but it will be a commercial success.
>>
What a basic bitch board lmao
Seriously zero fucking actual cinematic objectivity

The film was great
>>
>>111463073
the movie was visually stunning, everything else was garbage.
>>
>>111463153
>everything else was garbage
If you have no taste and keep repeating a shitty meme like "only the visuals were good"
>>
>>111463181
what was so great about it?

This unironically, incels have the worst pleb art taste possible

Everything besides Holdo
>>
>>111441616
No. It could have been the most well-written SW film of all time, and the Holdo Maneuver would still destroy the entire franchise, both post-actively and pro-actively.

In one fell swoop, Rian Johnson managed to highhandedly dismantle the very fabric of in-universe logic, making it logistically impossible to ever have a "star war" again. I genuinely cannot conceive of a single more destructive piece of writing in this franchise.

>It was shit

You're right, it was. But TLJ made it worse.
>>
Only a kino Old Republic movie will save this franchise

Imagine Kreia or Revan in live action that would be good

no

You get my boy Plo Koon to come back and BTFO the entire first order
>>

Sometimes I wonder if people who suggest stuff are impaired. Listen closely. You've seen how badly they've shit the bed with the OT content. You've seen how they're incapable of effectively telling even the most basic Star Wars story. You've seen how they openly dislike their fanbase and you've heard them express total apathy for the EU, viewing it only as an idea vault to draw from when needed.

With that in mind, do you REALLY want to see them make an Old Republic movie?

Use your brain
>>
>>111464138
A Knights of the Old Republic series based around the comic series would probably be an easier adaptation. You would have a core trio of Zayne Carrick, Gryph and Jarael, and then against the backdrop of Zayne's own personal dilemna (hunted for murders he did not commit), the development of the Mandalorian Wars.

No one is saying he did it all on purpose. His genius was unintentional.

Bro With The Old Republic you can ignore everything about the Skywalkers forget that disaster and just focus on new stories
>>
>>111464834
>didnt have the balls to actually kill off star wars with his own sequel trilogy
>sold the series to disney because he was so butthurt and thin skinned of people not liking the prequels
Rian Johnson is better

then it's not genius

So what the fuck are they gonna do with Leia?

Are they gonna write around her death? Does that mean the script got re-written midway into production? Or is she just going to magically disappear from the story once they run out of scenes they recorded with her?

You might actually have reading comprehension problems so let me spell this out for you in the most direct way possible:

Disney ≠ Good Star Wars
ergo
Disney ≠ Good Old Republic

But wait anon, cause this blade cuts both ways!

Disney = Terrible Star Wars
Ergo
Disney = Terrible Old Republic
>>
>>111465626
Made me kek, thanks anon
>>
>>111464411
It could as easy as chips and disney would still fuck that shit right up.
SW is dead.
>>
>>111466278
Yeah I agree with you there, they'd fuck up the casting or dialogue.

Is there any chance the extended SW universe becomes cannon again bros? After episode 9 flops?
>>

They'll just make everything before episode VII non-canon so they can rewrite the past

This is the only way I'd watch 9.
>>
>>111442258
Yeah but now that I think about it, I have to wonder if Rian might have done a better job had he something other than a lazy rehash of ANH to work off of. His obsession with "subverting expectations" at every possible opportunity could be him overcompensating for just how stale and soulless the previous movie was. He probably wanted to say "don't worry fans, I'll make sure this isn't just a rehash of Empire", then went way too far in the opposite direction by creating something completely unrecognizable as Star Wars or even as a coherent story.
>>
>>111441731
TFA was always bad, people just didn't want to accept it and had hoped VIII would improve things.
>>
>>111441616
Why is he such a jobber? The big bad of this trilogy is a joke of a threat, how could they fuck it that badly? Who thought it was a good idea to have your main villain lose his first fight with the hero?

aren't they still making more anthology films

I thought rogue one was ok; but the first half should of been about mc girl's life in streets in some alien and bounty hunter infested ghetto.

Sad we'll no longer be getting star wars media with all those interesting little bits of lore but whatever it had a nice run.

Still haven't got around to that solo movie.

>Time travel is one way, but I don't know if it exists in Star Wars
They introduced it a couple of months after the release of The Last Jedi.
