Currently in Kraków. Half of the old town is occupied with construction works, which expand with each passing day. Sights like this all over the city. Sort of a vent post, but probably best to give Kraków a miss this year if you were planning on going there.

Wawel Castle, one of the main tourist hotspots (though one I found completely disappointing for that reason), is also currently undergoing renovation. The same was found in two separate churches in the old town, which completely disrupted the spiritual experience.

This morning I woke up and walked out the front door of the hotel I'm staying at and this was literally right out the front door. I'm even staying on the south side of the river and the works keep expanding further and further with each passing day.

I live in kraków and it is absolutely normal here at that part of year to have some construction works. Major constructions in bronowice are supposed to end in october so i am in positive mind. And as you said construction works are scaring tourists from visiting this shithole so i am fine with that
>>
>>1652548
Why is it a shithole when most people consider it the best town in Poland?
>>
>>1652548
>it's normal for half the city to look like shit for the main tourist city.
Holy shit, I've been all across Poland this summer and Kraków has honestly so far been a fucking embarrassment. Between this and the sheer quantity of tourist traps and tickets for everything, Kraków might just be on par with Warsaw for the worst city in the country. At least the people here are nicer, I guess.
>>
>>1652530
well that sucks. I love Krakow.

The whole city doesn't exist solely for your amusement, fuckhead. They're running a few infrastructure projects, have you spoken to anyone about it? Ooo, dlaczego, nie znasz język polski?

Ahh, Kraków...

Update: the works outside the hotel I'm staying at hit mentioned previously a water main and now there's no water. Glad this is my last night here.
>>
I live in this shitty city. there is actually nothing to do or see here, I don't know why people come here.

Go to warszawa or wroclaw

krakow jest chujowe.

Wow sorry to hear about the construction in Krakow. I was there a year ago and had a wonderful time. Just got back from Sicily and the construction was a hot mess.

I've never understood this

You're right, anon. Wrocław is much, much nicer. Thanks for the advice.
Warszawa is disgusting, though.

Pole here
Krakow is only for tourists too stupid to actually go to nice places so they choose the most popular ones, literally the London of Poland
>>
What do I think of Gdansk? That is the only polish place i have visited yet

Hey can't be as bad as London... imagine being a tourist wanting to see Big Ben all your life and it looks like this hahaha

Imagine being a tourist in London and wanting to see Big Ben but on your way there you get stolen from and then stabbed, also if you miraculously get there in the end, it looks like that

That fucking shit got me last year. Still pissed. Hope they work around the clock to get it done.

lmao was in London last week and was quite disappointed by that. but otherwise it was nice.

This is too much.

You really think that big infra work is quick enough to be completed outside of tourist season in countries like Poland? That shit is time consuming.
>>
When I was a kid, I heard a lot of negative things about Poland, so I never had a strong desire to visit. I know I'm probably very wrong, but it's hard to undo decades of conditioning.
>>
>>1654847
Find a Polish pussy. That'll motivate you to visit it.
It's actually a great country. Been to Torun and Gdansk / Tri-city. Will go to Poznan in September. Warsaw is shit though.
>>
>>1652530
Well fuck, too late now. Gonna be there in three weeks anyway.

Krakow is becoming a big European hotspot. I backpaked there in 2005 and it was a kind of exotic place to go - I haven't been in salt mine for reasons I don't know until today. Nowadays it's even being included in main European tours.

I banged a woman this year who made an European tour with her son in those places: London, Paris, Rome, Venice, Berlin and Krakow.

Shoutout to Starka restaurant in Krakow. One of the best feeds I've ever had. Vodka platter for starters and Duck for mains. Sensational.
>>
>>1657142
It was not expensive at all. I think it worked out as €25 per person for starter and main course including drinks. Maybe a little expensive for Krakow prices but incredibly good value compared to here (Ireland)
>>

Lel 8€ is max for me

Was to krakow earlier this year when the Vistula flooded. Nice city over all and very accessible to tourists. The locals doesn't speak English usually but they're quite keen on using tech like translation apps to overcome the communication gap.

I visited all those places you've mentioned, and Auschwitz Birkenau and the Wieliczka salt mine. Auschwitz was sort of a disappointment as the enormous tourist pressure makes the tour feel like historical exploitation that doesn't respect the gravity of the locations historical meaning. The salt mine was amazing thou, and anyone visiting Krakow should definitely check it out.

Welcome to Europe in summer. Most places will do construction in summer because it interrupts daily life the least.
