From UK in Aus on a WHV

Been in Aus like 3 month doing stuff up the east coast. Does anyone else think this country’s shite? Some Aussies are alright but most of the youths are jumped up poofters. I live in Brisbane with 2x Colombians and 2x Brazilians and I’m much more interested in their culture than Aus culture, in-fact I’ve only really been interested to socialise with south americans since I moved in with them. Only been here 3 months out of the 12 and I’m ready to go home and do stuff in Europe or South America. I came here on my own so maybe would’ve lasted longer with a mate from home.

Anyone else feel the same way?
Am I doing something wrong?
Is this country shit?
>>
If you're in the city and not in nature you're doing it wrong cunt
>>
>>1631510
I’m not a fan of Australians in general but the people I hate more than Australians without a doubt are Brazilians. Especially living with them. So it might just be your taste.
>>
>>1631510
>queensland
Found your problem. Try Melbourne.
>>
>"jumped up poofters"
What a piss poor attempt at australian lingo you useless cunt. Anyway, you should have asked before, we would have told you its shit. What were you expecting and what let you down (serious question)

Aus is a great place to make (and if you're not disciplined spend) money. On the other hand the worst thing about the country is the people, and Sydneysiders and Queenlanders are the worst of the bunch.

tl;dr move to another city that isn't Sydney
>>
>>1631633
Why would I want to use aus lingo u spaz.

I didn’t have much of an expectation, I didn’t do much planning either, just showed up with 6ish grand australian. Maybe lack of planning is what let me down. I feel like backpackers are stigmatised in the way that as soon as a local knows you’re on a whv they turn their noses up at you. The drinking culture is shit, majority of locals are condescending boring mongs, the first kangaroo i saw was dead on the side of the road. Maybe i haven’t been here long enough to properly analyize the gaff but these are my first impressions.
>>
>>1631633
>What a piss poor attempt at australian lingo you useless cunt
"Poofter" is British slang too you monger.
>>
Brisbane is, Adelaide maybe excepted, clearly the most boring, plastic city in all of Australia.
If you want to fuck around for a couple of months more and see some countryside, get your RSA and find a job in a pub in some bogan town with an aboriginal name.
>>
>>1631656
Maybe you should just stop giving a fug what's going through your mind about people stereotyping you on whv and just chill out, don't try so hard to make friends.

As a Brit I'm not sure what you expect from aus, it's more or less British culturally. So will be "shit" in a lot of similar ways

Me personally I might visit some day to see some aussie mates but I'm not sure a roadtrip is in my budget, let us know how you got on by the time you leave OP
>>
>>1631646
We get it, you’re completely fine with having hairy cocks shoved up your hairy date. Well done congratulations. Now please wipe your chair off before you leave.
>>
>whinging pom is whinging
absolutely shocking, who could’ve seen this coming
>>
>>1631656
Look mate no one gives a fuck if you're on a WHV theres plenty of you here. As an Australian, I would say its hard to break into a group of Australian friends and actually become friends (going out on the weekends and such) but most of you cunts on WHV don't make any effort and just hang around each other. Brits hang out with other brits. Germans do the same, so do South American Spanish Speakers and Brazilians. Theres a reason why half the British 18y/o come to Australia and not the other way around. If you don't like it then fuck off
>>
>>1631700
>Theres a reason why half the British 18y/o come to Australia and not the other way around
mate half the young white people in London are Australian.
>>
>>1631654
Australia is good for making money if you're not from a country that's richer than Australia. For a lot of people from western and northern europe they would make at least the same working in their home country
>>
>>1631575
>If you're in the city and not in nature you're doing it wrong cunt.

This. Why go to the other side of the world just to enmesh yourself in some big fuckin city? They're all the same the entire world over. Get out to the bush. Fuck off to the west coast of Tassie and find yourself some kind of farm job. You'll meet a lot of good bastards that way.
>>
>>1631510
as an australian, this country can only get worse, but at least it's better than the USA

It's also a shame you chose the worst city.
>>
>>1631633
Fucksake dosscunt, you realise a lot of "your" slang was our slang first right, mate?

Was in West Australia a while back. Freo and Perth are actually not as bad (personally compared to American cities). Definitely try to do some shit in the wilderness though. Also for fucks sake do not go to Rottnest at this time of year, it's fucking miserable, rains a lot, and way too windy to use a bike.
>>
>>1631926
No they don't. If you don't go for a 1-bedroom flat in a CBD and don't buy everything in fucken vegan stores or whatever, you can save up lots in Australia.

I hired a prostitute in Australia.
She was a fat Chinese woman with bad English.
>I go into a room with some toys.
>in she walks
>she had good tits while dressed but when she took her bra off it was like two Hindenburg’s go down. I didn’t care she was my hot tea rady.
>I start to take my clothes off, all sexy like, so she can see my abs, biceps and hard toned thighs.
>with her nipples pointing to her toes, she blurts out, hurry up you no much time. I knew she was impatient to feel my cock.
>naked I go to huge and kiss her, she had dumpling breath, so exotic. She puts her hand up to block my face before I could give her a deep wet French kiss.
>you go shower. Wash hairy cock good. Make clean.
>yes sir I said, and have my cock such I good scrubbing I accidentally came in the shower.
>I got out and she said, you just cum already?
>yes I replied.
> I suck your dick she said,
>hot tea lady slurped away on my soft flaccid cock for 5 minutes and said, I’m tired you want handjob?
>yes I said
>she starts tugging at my cock.
>not like that I said, I go to my bag and pull out a strapon
>she looks at my strangely almost coyly but not quite, by that I mean not at all.
>what this for? Hot tea lady asked.
>I said I bend over and you fuck my in bottom with this and pull my cock
>that sounds expensive, hot tea lady replied.
>I offer her $20 extra and bend over she jams the dildo deep into my hungry butt.
>I moan in ecstatic pain.
>I don’t think this is very healthy for you, hot tea lady kept saying as if I didn’t hear her as she fucked my butt.
>I couldn’t hold it in anymore I blast hot ropey cum all over hot tea lady’s fingers.
>you cum a lot she said
>I go to kiss her
>no you finished, yo shower, you go.
>with that hot tea lady left the room taking my heart, and the virginity of my bottom with her.
It was last year I fucked hot tea lady, she’d have to be about 50 now. I often think of her, and wonder what she’s doing with her life, maybe running a restaurant?

Why do people make the mistake of staying in Brisbane? I've seen a fair amount of complaints on this board from Americans and poms complaining about Australia and it's usually because they've spent most of their time in Brisbane? I don't know how they make that mistake. It's not like it's well known...

Is it because they associate it with the Gold Coast and therefore beaches? Honestly, if I were coming from overseas I'd probably have a better time in Townsville or Byron Bay than Brisbane. They're feral, but there's no pretence of culture and at least they're fun.
>>
Byron bay is an overpriced shit hole full of assholes

Honestly, as a half Australian that's spent a lot of my childhood there on holiday and then lived there more recently; fuck Australia, I'm getting the fuck out.

It's a paradise if you look at really superficial metrics, but look a little deeper and the populace is basically entirely retarded, culture is next to non-existent and society is insanely wasteful.
The best thing that could happen to the place is for a brutal recession to happen to force those mouthbreathers out of their stupor.

Doing it wrong imo.

Australia has a pretty crappy nightlife / club scene and the cities aren’t that interesting.

The natural beauty and regional areas are what’s unique in Australia.

Go diving in the Great Barrier Reef, walk through tropical rain forests in north qld, go surfing on the sunny coast / goldie / west coast, etc, check out Kakadu.

Check out all the waterfalls in North Queensland.

And if you want to meet interesting people go to some music festivals.
>>
>>1632275
Sounds like a very ableist culture.
>>
It's fucking awful, anyone that says otherwise doesn't live here

Where? Growing on your bfs cock?
>>
Yeah I live here in Melbourne, just returned from 2 years in Japan it's shit, there's no one over 30 who is worth dating...it's so isolated...big fucking whoop I can go to Tasmania in 50 minutes and sniff some ice and people are money and consumer obsessed.

My roommate has a car on finance and is now buying a $5000 computer with a bunch of stuff he doesn't need to play a game...like so pointless.

I work a shitty job at a supermarket that drip feeds work. I have a truck license and there is a shortage of trucks but nobody will train anyone.

This is Australia full stop, no one does anything for anyone, there is no common culture, the country is completely divided compared to Japan, everyone's better than everyone else. The whites are better than the indians, the rich are better than the poor etc etc. There is a veneer of politeness covering these facts though.

I am only surviving because I realised I work 3 days and the rest of the time spend my time wasting away masturbating but still earn more than a full time English teacher in Japan.

Oh and I haven't made a new friend here in 14 years, well one or two. I had better friends in two years in Japan than my life in Melbourne.

tl dr: boring, no culture. I am a fat roastie who should be dating chad, everyone is left wing.
>>
>>1632156
>Why do people make the mistake of staying in Brisbane?
I honestly think it's because tickets might be cheaper than to Sydney/Melbourne. And then it's just lazy idiots not doing any research and deciding all of Australia is like being scammed by an old Greek dude in the fucken Fortitude Valley.
Fuck Brisbane, and fuck everyone who tries to say they're enjoying their life in that city. They're all on either ice or coke.

Europe, UK in particular.

Absolute shithole and leaving it was the best decision of my life.
>>
>>1631510
Whinging poms earn their name. They live in their depressing little shithole and romanticise Australia beyond belief, then get disappointed when its just another more-or-less normal place but with better weather. HINT: Home and Away lied to you.

>>1633309
Very true about Melbourne.
The best time I had in Melbourne was a few weeks surfing on the Mornington peninsula.
When I asked why there weren’t more surfers around (I’m used to California) I was told there used to be but all the surfers can’t afford to live there anymore because rich jerks who don’t even go to the beaches just look at them from their lonugerooms own all the homes and it’s the same with the great ocean road.
Depressing.
Melbourne city is vile. It reminds me of Seoul on a rainy day
>>
>>1634567
Brits only complain when they get to Australia, because it’s a shithole m8
>>
>>1632806
Getting carjacked by niggers isn’t culture
>>
Do you go to the UK for the weather and food?

America for the history?

We do two things well: wide open spaces and small population. And our natural wonders are fairly bland compared to other places, geologically the continent lacks whatever conditions to create spectacular attractions.

Australian cities are boring, pozzed garbage.
>>
>>1635246
They’re shutting down access to Australia’s most well known (and only?) natural landmark, Ayers Rock.

Most of the outback looks boring as shit unless you’re a redneck or a serial killer.
>>
>>1634805
That's absolutely not true, it's just that there's far better and more accessible surf in other parts of the state, Sydney, Perth and gold coast
Melbourne might not be the prettiest city but it's objectively one of the nicest places to live on earth in terms of living standards, and miles ahead of literally any other Aussie city.
You can afford to rent a fairly nice apartment close to the city on a full time job with minimum wage, and there's a good variety of things to do and actually decent public transport
>>
>>1635343
Not him but you really sucked down the kool aid.

>Melbourne might not be the prettiest city but it's objectively one of the nicest places to live on earth in terms of living standards, and miles ahead of literally any other Aussie city.

This has got to be the worst bait on this entire site and I post on /adv/ and /tv/. You honestly believe this?
The traffic is some of the world’s worst granted Melbourne excels there.
The train system is virtually antique I can’t believe you think it’s decent.
Having an apartment close to the city is nothing to brag about and is hardly affordable.
The people are in a whole rude and behave much the same as any large American city.
Everything is overpriced.
I could go on but won’t, there’s a thread full of valid points about why Melbourne is awful.
Melbourne peaked from the late 90’s-mid 2000’s. It was quite happening then, and quite a creative city. Now it’s a boomer property investors playground and literally nothing else.
People travel for INTERESTING THINGS not to experience a city that sums up everything wrong with modern living.
>>
Melbourne culture is hipster cafes, hot pot and bubble tea. Kind of hilarious how they all have taken over
>>
>>1635343
Mate, leave your melbidishu bubble sometime because you’re literally sprouting left wing propaganda. Melbourne fucking sucks, entire towns and cities are sustained by people leaving Melbourne and Sydney for good.
>>
>>1634805
>surfing on the Morningnton
You must be retarded then
>>1635343
Those best city guides are written for wealthy expats. If you're not, I think you'll find Melbourne (and Australia's) car-dependence and ludicrous prices quite a big barrier.

No they aren't. You can no longer climb the thing because the local Aboriginals don't like it, and I bet there's some erosion concerns as well. it's not as good as european style metros, but people live in big houses here, it works for a city that isn't as dense as madrid. but it's miles better than Sydney, or literally any american city outside new york
>everything is overpriced
no it's not, everything is cheap considering the wages here, especially compared to sydney where wages are the same yet prices are bay-area tier
>apartment close to the city is nothing to brag about
why not? where do you live?
>boomer property investors playground and literally nothing else.
there's still shit going on here, admittedly gotten worse
out of curiosity, what do you consider a great city?

agreed, and melbourne doesn't necessarily offer that, its a good city to have a look at for a few days and spend some money that's less tacky/artificial/shite as sydney
>>

This poster is the quintessential Melbourne fuckwit. The arrogance and knowallism just from his mouth like an overflowing toilet.
Long ass posts about how good his hometown is, which in the end say nothing and are so defensive and insecure they’d make an American blush.
This is a prime example of why to avoid this city, multiply this guy by several million all talking at once about how great their public transport is at you while admitting it’s not as good as Europe’s, or Asia’s, or that there’s not even a train to the airport, while in the next breath they shit all over country towns and their people like how NYC shits all over the Midwest or Londoner’s shit all over the North without any selfawareness what so ever. Melbourne is just another dump full of bellends aggressively trying to prove that they’re better than people from some places you’ve never ever heard of.

Now ask yourself Lurkers, is this how you would like to spend your vacation after a 12 hour + flight?

I've lived in Australia for nearly 18yrs now and Melbourne is awesome. Don't listen to these bitter poltards. Great place to eat, party and fuck cute hipster chicks. You're really close to fantastic beaches on the Great Ocean Road, the beautiful Dandenong Ranges and the Alpine country. There's still decent work opportunities here too despite the economy of Australia as a whole heading towards the shitter. Never once seen or been a victim of a violent crime here either. Nobody I know has either. Not sure why the media hype up violent crime so much in Melbourne when it's objectively worse in most other parts of the country.

The big drawback to Melbourne is the cost of living. Have fun spending most of your income on renting, and unless you're a big dicker with heaps of money, you're not buying a property.
>>
>>1636459
I think you're quite basic and missing the subtle stuff about Melbourne and Australia as a whole that disappoints so many.
There's such a wasteful mentality here, everyone acts like entitled children - envirohipsters to suburban wasteland staceys alike
>>
>>1636473
>everyone acts like entitled children - envirohipsters to suburban wasteland staceys alike

What do people mean by this? I don't dispute it, but having grown up here I don't fully understand what people mean I guess because I'm immersed in it. Like, does this attitude come across in conversations at the pub? At work? Or is something communicated through the media?

I struggle to understand how foreigners are able to diagnose a certain "mentality". Again, I'm not disputing it (my parents say the same thing, they say Australians whinge way more than when they immigrated here in the 80s) I guess I just don't know anything else.
>>
>tfw in Perth/Freemantle for about a month

>>1636491
It's difficult to give concrete examples, it's more how people act and react to things.
I'll try to give some flavours for it though
>tradies on $80 an hour fucking up Bali/Thailand/Fiji etc
>Going 'camping' in a fuck off 4x4 with dirtbikes etc and destroying the local environment
>The super weird thing where everything has to be 'world-class' like the whole country has collective insecurity
>Go skiing in Thredbo and see all the Eastern Suburbs people swanning around like they're in St.Moritz even though they're getting rained on outside of a weatherboard shack
>Super materialistic in general, everyone's always buying new shit and just throwing everything away
>Going too hard at festivals and leaving nangs absolutely everywhere; 'have a go' mentality meaning people would rather OD than not be one of the boys
>>
>>1636459
Because it has worse traffic, worse weather, more shitskins, is more expensive.

Dandenong ranges are your average hinterland area. Great ocean road is nice but isn’t Melbourne. Alpine country is one of the least impressive snowfields in the world. Tassie and blue mountains do it better anyway.

You’re living in a country famous for its wide open spaces, beaches, friendly white people, cleanliness and for being laid back.

So you live in a dirty, crowded, stuck up city full or shitskins with shit beaches.
>>
>>1636509
Can't say I'd disagree with any of these observations. I wonder where the binge culture comes from (I certainly participate). It's not like other countries don't drink a lot or take drugs, but Australians (and the Brits from which we descend) seem to be some of the worst abusers.
>>
>>1636514

Australian here
Australia is an absolute shithole. None of our cities are worth a damn if you like cities, and our nature is only good if you want to die of skin cancer.
The only good shit to happen in Australia is when the Bolshoi comes to perform or the like. Meanwhile you have to spend a fuckload on housing for the 'privilege' of living in one of these shitholes.

>>1631765
This anon is wrong. Big cities aren't the same the entire world over. Frankfurt is different to Paris which is different to Tokyo and so on. However, Australia's 'cities', the god awful hellscapes of urban sprawl they are, make me want to off myself.

99% of people aren’t interested in Japan’s toxic work culture.
>>
>>1636624
Just get an english teaching job then? The majority of them work well under 40 hours/week, and if you survive for 3 years you can move to a university and earn the same money for 12 teaching hours + about 5-6 office hours a week.
Shit isn't hard.
>>
>>1636625
The entire country of Australia can’t move to japan and teach english.
>>
>>1636626
True but there's still a shortage here. Tbh I'd basically live anywhere outside the Anglosphere. I enjoyed my year in Chengdu more than Australia.
Australia used to be a great place to settle to raise kids, but given how you have to pay out the arse for a decent K-12 education now it's better to just save that money and send your kids to a decent university after raising them elsewhere.
The culture sucks, the high arts basically don't exist and the lower end of society is physically revolting. The K-12 education sucks unless you pay out the arse, and the uni fees are just delayed. The public healthcare doesn't cover some essential shit like cataracts, the only good part about it is you can save money hard there if you give a shit about money, but the housing market is ruining even that since 'hurr durr negative gearing!!!!'
The culture is becoming more and more americanised and neoliberal every day. It was bad enough when the main culture was bong, but now it's even worse.

Yes, it's a technical term. Reactions like that are one of the more minor but still annoying parts of Australia
>Lol you want to do anything other than sculling goon? Fucking wanker
>Huh you're going to uni? What kind of job will that get you? What money will you be making?
The obsession with money, everything only being a path to making more money like it's all that matters in life, the derogatory attitude towards any culture that isn't anglo, the disparaging of using any kind of technical language to be specific about what you're conveying, they're all parts of why Australians make me want to blow my fucking brains out. Let's not forget the rampant alcoholism and pretending it's fine.
>>
>>1636636
It just seems incredulous that you’d leave a country because there isn’t enough ballet and art exhibitions.
>>
>>1636638
The general attitude of the people you meet, the general culture, how loud it is, lack of nightlife, urban sprawl and a bunch of other reasons weighed into it as well.

Yeah urban sprawl is awful thank goodness you moved to japan.

yeh Australian here. i believe Australia really does have a great marketing team or something, it seems to have such a good image overseas but in reality, the people, culture and country are complete garbage.

can't wait to leave this used up barren wasteland in a month. I made the mistake of coming back once already, and hopefully, i don't do it again anytime soon. people are really just a special type of cooked here

Our isolation and wealth have bred a whole generation of entitled man-children who think they live in the best country in the world, while at the same time being force-fed meme guilt trips from the media that people simply don't even know how to human anymore.

The government is also so obsessed with the growth that the main cities are becoming unlivable due to all the subdivisions and the increasingly horrid traffic.

I bet you aswell in 10 years uber eats will have drone delivery and we will all have the pleasure of listening to drones buzzing around till 11pm.

fuck this shit hole, u

Try fuckin Darwin for the true Aussie experience
>>
>>1636057
Very Based, I am from the western suburbs of Victoria and I can tell ya that Melbourne fuckin sucks, Darwin and NT is probably one of the best places you can go to in Australia, although in general all Australian cities suck ass

Anyone in fucking Sydney wanna meet up?
>>
>>1637358
Darwin's just where all the fucked cookers who couldn't hack it anywhere else congregate
>>
>>1632806
Don't fucking lie mate, you know nature in Melbourne involves paddocks of dead grass, an overabundance of foxes (introduced) & sneaks and some shitty petrol station charging you $15 for a coke and a sandwich, the only palette option.

>>1635302
I am an Aussie and I am so disappointed about this one of the few things you could do as a tourist, one of the few things that makes money and we're closing it down because we are a fucking police state obsessed with panning to genetically doomed aboriginals who sit at about 1% of the population.

>>1635343
Na mate, you need a car in Melbourne for a start, Minimum wage is like $620, minimum rent for an apartment like $300 and you'll never eat out or do anything again as your paying $80 for internet, gas and electricity because of all the immigrants maxing out the fucking grid.

THERE IS NOTHING to do but eat over expensive food & attend sport. Sport being the only thing I like about this shitty miserable city.

You'll never own a home in the city you live in.>>1635362
I've lived here my whole life and watched it turn to shit. Around about 2000 we use to joke that there weren't any Aussies left in the city, now we just accept the city is full of immigrants, bringing dodgy money from wherever.

As an Aussie I am hoping Brexit brings freedom of movement as I want to get out of this hellhole. I am a refugee in my own country.

>>1635378
Overpriced, also there is huge amounts of Asians here so what do you expect.
>>
>>1636030
Where do you live now? Did a stint in Japan, and desperate to get out of Melbourne again.
>>
>>1637986
>Na mate, you need a car in Melbourne for a start
Only if you live right on the edge of the city, transport isn't as good as London but it'snot that bad

>minimum rent for an apartment like $300
For a shared house it's usually less than $200 a week unless you live in an expensive suburb?
>>
>>1637986
>minimum rent for an apartment like $300
Fucking what? In big US cities even parking spaces go for $200-250 per month and rent is $1500 minimum for your own shitty studio. Melbourne sounds cheap as fuck
>>
>>1637647
Where are you from? I'm a local but im always keen to meet new people (as long as they're not weird)
>>
>>1638020
In Australia people always quote rent price per week, not per month like in other countries.
>>
>>1636667
Where you moving to mate, what you doing? Just come back to Australia from Japan and hating it. Melbourne is scum, full of fat people, entitled people and chinks everywhere.

There is 0 culture, traffic is hell, public transport largely unusable with it taking 90 minutes to travel 30km it just fucking sucks and you know neither Labor or Liberal is going fix it, LAB could of at least fucked with negative gearing.

I am no labor voting but they're essentially the same. LIBS import as many or more third worlders then they torture those coming by boats to make it seem like their tough. Labor are just a rabble.

I'm 33, I've got to get out again though, so miserable here in Melbourne with my shitty casual work. I got a pizza tonight and a coke and some potato salad. This cost $40.

My wage hasn't gone up in 10 years but...electricity has probably tripled, as has gas.

Most Japanese I know that come here are disappointed, so many Chinese they whisper to me!

What's the best way out? I was hoping Brexit would give us some kind of free movement or something, but it's a long way off and I'd be closer to 40 by then. FUCK AUSTRALIA, FUCK AUSTRALIAN WOMEN, FUCK THE MISERABLE CUNTS OF PEOPLE, FUCK THE GOVERNMENT & FUCK IMMIGRATION.
>>
>>1638017
I LIVE in a sharehouse. With an alcoholic couple, a negro who was accepted as a refugee is 35 and steals everyone's food who were trying to kick out, a young I am so hot and to good to talk to anyone prime Australian slut and another loner dude who is ok.

I live in a first class city in Japan in a nice apartment for $600 5 minute bike ride from the heat of the action.

Now I need to wait for 40 minutes of train delays to go anywhere.
>>
My South African friends in Japan hated Australia too, even had a Spanish guy who lived in Melbourne 15 years ago as a professional women who hated and my main Irish friend just said he simply was never interested in the place.

Why would anyone ever come to this shithole when perhaps our only attraction is beaches which Europe has plenty of. Multiculturalism has definitely destroyed what little inklings of culture we once had and we don't have the movies or music to self suffice.

All our original films go something like this: Honestly there’s something wrong, the diversity of Australian movies is on par with China’s movies in the middle of the cultural revolution.

Every Australian film of the last 30 years can be summarized in these two sentences.

1. White man raped me

2. I’m a aboriginal in hard times and it’s everyone who has white skins fault.
“"A coming of age story set against the backdrop of *Insert War* between *teenage stereotype* and *character with indigenous/minority background* in the Australian outback"
>>
>>1637359
Oh boy, how's the smell of sweaty Africans when you get on the delayed train in the morning to work for your 49k which you'll spend entirely on food and bills? Unless you're secluded in Williamstown or Yarraville the West blows, had any of the sudos knock you out for $10 yet?

How about some food from Footscray market which clearly violated occupational healthy and safety?

Christ, calm down you neurotic /pol/ack
Melbourne's a dump but implying white Australia had culture outside of bullshit country values and getting drunk and watching sport is pretty disingenuous. Europe is far better if you want those white values (and no, immigration hasn't fucked that up, contrary to what you want to believe).
I lived in Japan too, it's okay but it has its own problems. Many of the Japanese like it here because they've run away from the rigid society and bullshit in their home country.
Also I live in a sharehouse 10 mins from the city for 160 a week with lovely people. I'm sure you couldn't find anywhere decent because you came across like a screaming maniac in house interviews.

Nonetheless I'm fucking off out of Australia because it's full of idiots like you.

My point is that your ability to see and criticise how different Japan is from Australia proves we have a culture.
>>
I left Melbourne for Sydney 7 years ago. After moving, I realised very quickly how much friendlier and better Melbourne was. It truly was, although obviously an international backwater, a great city. After 7 years I moved back to find that most of the art galleries had closed, the traffic was as bad as Sydney and people were no longer very friendly. Really sucks, but that's the way it goes. Just have to move out and on.

There is no objective measure of the worth of culture. You have an opinion, stop trying to present it as fact.
