Sup /trv/,

this summer I went on a pilgrimage to real traveller Mecca, a small village in northern Kosovo called Çabër. I don't think this place needs any introduction. It's a much celebrated destination on this board and if you haven't heard about it you need to lurk more. Any self-proclaimed traveller should give this place a visit. I'll post some pictures, also feel free to ask me anything.

Here's Çabër from afar. The whole village was flattened and all inhabitants were expelled by accordion-playing Serbs during the Kosovo War, but as you can see it has been rebuilt. Now about a thousand Albanians live here once again.

In 2004 three Albanian kids drowned in this river called Ibar. The Serbs were accused of causing their deaths and later the whole country chimped out against the Serbs, although the really dindu nuffin.
>>
>need to lurk more
maybe so desu, but this place looks perfectly uninteresting. any muslim village in the balkans will probably look like this. Is there anything interesting to do there?

There's Serbian flags everywhere on the road from Çabër to Zubin Potok.

kek. This will be the /trv/ equivalent of this in a few years time.

Well done OP. I thought the Ethiopia trip report was something special, but this report is infinitely superior. 1 RealTravel™ token, which is legal tender in every nation on Earth, will be deposited into your account.

As you can see littering is a common issue in Kosovo, unfortunately.

Thank you very much guys for the positive comments, I really appreciate it! I've heard about Çabër for the first time on /trv/ and I thought that I should return the favor with a short trip report.

The only locals I've encountered in Çabër were two boys who worked in the village store. They gave me some Fanta and asked me about who I am, what I was doing there and stuff like that. It was an interesting conversation.
>>
Absolutely based OP. I was in Kosovo over the Summer but didn't make it to Çabër because I had to leave on short notice, but I've a few weeks off in April which I plan to use for a Çabër trip.

Anyone going to Prishtina should take the free walking tour there, it was great.

Hope the Serbs raze it again and finish em off

Delete this immediately OP. I want Çabër to stay a hidden gem. It'll be the new Venice in a few years from now if people keep spreading awareness.

It's 50/50. 50% memeing and Real Traveler™ shitposting and the other 50% is it's very relevant in terms of local recent history as well as the special status and census.

And this is one of the houses in Çabër, it's right across the street from the mosque. What a beauty!

So I don't have anymore pictures of this hidden gem, but I can post more pictures of Albania and Kosovo. I've cycled all over those countries and seen many places there. Tell me what region you're interested in and I'll post more.

This might also interest you, this is a village called Velika Hoča. It's a Serbian enclave in southern Kosovo, the situation is similar to Çabër but it's the other way around. Unfortunately I didn't have the time to stay longer nor do I speak Serbian, so I didn't take many pictures.

I went there with my bicycle. This is more or less the route I took this summer.

How did you find cycling there? Anything you had to deal with or worry about? Did you stay overnight in any towns/villages? Pretty neat desu
