Europe fucking sucks to live in unless you're really loaded. That's why you're unhappy. The new world is objectively superior in basically every way for day to day living. Australia, NZ, Canada, USA. That's how it is meant to be done.I'm not even trying to trash Europe. Its an awesome continent and there's just so much to see and do, especially underrated for its natural beauty and outdoors opportunities, but to live and work? Just no. The taxes people pay and the rigidity of their class structure is ridiculous. There is simply no opportunity for normal people. Yea I know the government will make sure you're fed and have a roof over your head and that's all well and good, but there's a real cost to that security and it comes in the form of basically having zero social mobility.
>>1537380>2.200Is that like a lot of money for you guys? I made that much in highschool.
>>1538155That's the most retarded thing I have ever read. There is a lot more social mobility in Europe than the US. In the US if you are born into a poor family it's much more difficult to become wealthy. In Europe you have a much better chance because the education systems and opportunities are more equal.
>>1538155What are you talking about? Europe is the best place in the world to be poor or middle class.
>>1538167Salaries in Europe are really low compared to the US. Here in Germany your average college educated person makes as much after 20 years what someone in the US makes in an entry level position right after college. Paying taxes is horrible and since there were 80 years of no war a good chunk of the population has inheritance like houses for example. For someone with a salary of 40.000€ it is not possible to buy a house or raise a family here and not even possible to make much more money because German salaries generally cap out at 60.000€ if you are not a highly specialized engineer.
>>1538167There are literally millions of talentless slobs in America, Australia and Canada who are taking home upper-middle class livings while paying an almost insignificant amount in taxes. These kinds of broad statistics dont really work, especially when comparing with the 80's. The fall of the USSR, German reunification and installation of a common market and currency led to an economic boom in Europe for the middle class. It doesn't mean people are more upwardly mobile in Europe. Anyone who has lived in the new and old world sees it plain as day. Europeans are still of this ludicrous mind that they have somehow perfected human society when really what they are doing is reinforcing an immensely immobile class system that serves to just keep the elites in the same positions of powerA few unreplicable circumstances over a twenty year span plus the fact that Europe literally just looted the whole planet for the better part of three centuries, doesn't mean democratic socialism works. Especially when the whole continent continues to kick the austerity can down the road.

Again, saying quality of life in Europe has improved with the end of the Warsaw Pact and a reunified Germany plus the establishment of a common market isn't really controversial. You are associating the success of the last thirty years with something that frankly had nothing to do with it.

Pretty hilarious thread. The US has the worst social mobility of all OECD nations and modern economies(behind the UK). One can't possible buy into the rags-to-riches bullshit. The American Dream is fucking dead. If you are poor or lower middle class in Europe you never have to worry about losing your health care. You never have to worry about becoming homeless and you never have to worry about student loan debts for you and your children. You start out as a poor student and join the workforce as a high income earner without the support of your parents. While in the US you lose your job, then your health care and then your house. Don't get me even started on shit like legacy admissions.

Euros are talking about social mobility within institutions.Freed education -> Qualification -> Professional, government, or corporate jobBut high taxes mean it is difficult for people who don't go through this decades-long education and career path, or who stumble once, or who were never encouraged to study by their working class family and friends, to be start a business. Free market enterprise is the only non-specialist way to become rich. The irony is that free education requires parents with an educated background to take full advantage of it, and the rigid credentialist class system in Europe is straight out of the 19th century, 100% compatible with the aristocratic systems that came before, because it forces the poor to exhaust themselves with isolated individual initiative in grammar schools while the rich are just as distinguihsed by their privately funded educations, which spoonfed them every step of the way. >>1540104>you need profits to grow your business>so growth is stifled by high taxes. It's like you were born yesterday. Virtually all of Europe have lower corporate tax than the US>OOPSoops indeed. Just another thing you got wrong.>inb4 hurr durr reasons why I am still right despite getting shit wrong
>>1540168If you are a small business owner (under $2 million in revenue) you won't have a C Corporation that pays corporate taxes, you'll have an S Corp that pays pass-through tax at the same rate normal people pay, which is lower than Europe. You seem like a very angry person, are you OK? Do you not have better things to do?
>>1540199>normal people pay less than 8.5 - 20% in USistanNow that is not true. And I've caught you in another cock and bull theory.>c-corp vs s-corp. 2 million in revenueHey genius. We get to choose corporate structures too. But we do not need to wait until 2 million in revenue to reach corporate tax rate. That is an argument FOR the European system and AGAINST the ease of the US one.>angry.. are you ok?I am having a whale of a time. Cornering people in a fact-based argument, have them squirm, make them jump from fallacy to fallacy, clutch their straws, drive them before me, and hear the lamentations of their women (lel, as if) is my favourite pastime.
this raging autist has totally ignored Australia and Canada because those two countries rape his argument and leave it on the ground. The initial point of contention was New World vs Old World, this sperg successfully moved the goalposts to just America.Canada and Australia are infinitely better places to live than Europe and there are absolutely no facts or statistics that indicate otherwise.
>>1538288>the whole continent continues to kick the austerity can down the road.
>>1540213Are you saying individual tax rates in Europe are 8.5 to 20%? What? If you make $55k in Germany you're in the 42% tax bracket. In the US it's 22%. Then you've got your like 21% VAT compared to our 0 to 7% sales tax. Ergo, taxes in the US are lower. I don't even know what points you're trying to make and you think you're winning some argument.
>>1540142>everybody is as poor as meno wonder you're so angry
>>1540222>now let's talk about individual tax rates and not corporate kay guysWe are talking about the relevance of ease of doing business and lower corporate tax rate when it comes to Europe being more socially mobile than Fattistan. Which was a response to your(?) original statement that>you need profits to grow your business, so growth is stifled by high taxes>>1540104TL;DR growth is stifled by high corporate taxes in the US, which helps social mobility rankings to be higher in Europe. The overall tax intake is also a great help when it comes to educating the populace for free, which is something you lack (your populace, and you personally, specifically)
>>1540225Stop larping you pathetic fuck. And go change your stinking diaper. Otherwise Bezos will make you clean the toilets again.
My daddy told me all there is to know about economics. Was going to invest in a new manure shoveling shovel, but the gubmint took my monies away. Now how am I supposed to afford the monthly payments on this f-350 gloried commuter car with all the bling?I called Trump to complain about those libshits at the IRS, but they told me the God Emperor was plastering the wall to keep them wetbacks in Maxico.
>>1540227>now let's talk about individual tax rates and not corporate kay guysS Corp taxes are at the same rate as individual taxes, I already made that point.
>>1540231>F350It says a lot about a nation when half of them do not believe in evolution, and the best selling vehicle ( as well as the flag) looks like it it was drawn by an immature 5-year old. The holocaust had the wrong focus, I tell ya.
>>1540233>at the same rate as individual taxesAnd those are already higher than the corporate taxes that Europeans get. Which boils it down to: Taxes stifle US social mobility more than it stifles European social mobility. End of. Killed by your own claim.
>>1540235Lol, but I'm German. My daddies granddaddy's granddaddy was from Kurhessen. My granddaddy even refused to fight in WWII. Not right that the white folk should fight each other.
>>1540237Representin' German Heritage.Kurhessen Fuer Den Sieg.Don't you call me no mutt. I can trace my lineage, the guy I call dad says I can.
>>1540236I don't really see it, how do higher C Corp taxes stifle the social mobility of the average person when the only C corps are big businesses and none of them pay that tax anyway? I don't know how corporate taxes work in Europe. If you opened a restaurant or bar or dentist's offfice in Germany for example what kind of tax would you pay on business profits if you were structured as a cirporation? Do you get a special low tax rate for being a business that would save you a lot versus being a wage owner? Because otherwise I don't see how Europe has a lower tax rate in a way that could benefit the average person.
>>1540243>what kind of tax would you pay on business profits if you were structured as a cirporation?>Do you get a special low tax rate for being a businessAfter reading the thread and participating in the argument, what do you think? Could it be that you have been running around half-cocked, fly open, and little droplets of pee spraying everywhere? Are you this guy? >>1540104In that case you have shot down your case. Growth and social mobility is stifled for federalcucks because of high corporate taxes. Because as this guy states >>1540072>Free market enterprise is the only non-specialist way to become rich.
>>1540243Lel, more cock and bull from the stupid pole. You have no argument but what your rich daddy tells you about towelheads.
>>1537380I'm not trying to be an asshole but I make that right now without a degree in the netherlands. I make 16 euro an hour working in the kitchen of a restaurant as extra hands. Had no experience before applying and got hired.I am still studying but I live on my own so I need to work 40 hours a week which makes me about ~2500 euro a month. I absolutely hate this country though it's bland and depresing. "post-modern shithole" is correct. Only in the summer is it actually a fun place to be.
>>1537380Holy shit this makes me realize just how poor Portugal actually is compared to Western Europe. The fact that you actually pointed that out as if it was impressive makes me kinda sad for Portuguese.
>>1540469Saudade is alright bro. At least you can make some money abroad and buy a rural palace for the same amount of money you get elsewhere. And the local Portuguese food is excellent. And few things beat drinking wine made from your own grapes all year.
This makes me wonder if it might be worth it to make a lot less money in Portugal simply to always have beautiful sun and good atmosphere.Honestly it might be worth it on health issues over time alone. So what if you make 50% less in Portugal if you enjoy your life 2x as much due to the sun, friendly people and good atmosphere.
>>1540488Yeah well, you need some kind of foreign online income. Otherwise, if you are in a rural village, the only job you might get is some kind of factory stuff, for 500 euro a month.Mind you, EU really works here. I saw some old man tending 5 sheep. I bet he got money from Brussels for that.
