WHAT YEAR IS IT
>>
>>7753953
the year where MP toys are worse than retail toys
>>
I don't collect Transformers and don't plan on starting but I do want a nice Optimus. Which one to get?
>>
>>7753957
Correct, Hybrid Style Convoy was released in 2006, the same year as that awful MP02 Starscream (MP05 Megatron would be released the following year).
>>
>>7753939
I don't own Hybrid Style Convoy and never will, but I do like the idea of swappable hands. I understand why they don't do it, but I'd like to see that return.
>>
>>7753964
Hybrid style is what I would like to see return. Detailed mini figures loaded with accessories. Though I guess that's more 3p like iron factory anymore.

Is Masterpiece Sunstreaker the "hoes mad" of Transformers? Two years later and guys like this are still rectum ravaged over him.
>>
>>7753969
I think that would be a nice direction for a higher end line to go in. But all things considered recent MPs still seem to sell fairly well despite the negative reception by some. Or, at least, they've been selling well enough that Takara don't seem interested in changing course. I'm not sure another high-end line has room to exist.

I'd rather have good mainline stuff than good Masterpiece or other high-end stuff though, myself. Masterpiece figures have always struggled to justify their prices in my opinion. I don't see that changing.

I knew some guys like this growing up. That white knighting shit creep girls out. One of the worse was when one ask "can we not invite him to things?" when he literally passed on a winning move because it would effect one of the girls in our group saying he wouldn't treat a girl like that.

What do you guys do with IDW dead-corpse Ultra Magnus now that the Siege version replaces it?
>>
>>7753958
Depends on what you want.

If we're talking CHUG scale and affordable, Siege is a great option. Articulated well, nice robot mode, good vehicle mode and a good size. There is the Classics mold which is old as hell now but is still decent.

If you want something different, try tracking down the Deluxe Armada "Bendy" Prime. He should be relatively affordable and he's very nicely poseable. Also he looks pretty nice (if you like the design) and he comes with a Targetmaster Minicon.

If you want to go MP then either track down MP-10 (he's dated but still nice) or if you don't mind 3P stuff then Magic Square Light of Freedom (he's not as detailed as MP-10 but he still looks good and his engineering is superior).

What could possibly be the next trilogy after WFC except Beast Wars? They can't avoid it forever, right?

>>
>>7754618
>They can't avoid it forever, right?
They easily can if you look at how much of the same territory they tend to cover over and over again. We're in the middle of a War for Cybertron less than ten years after the last War for Cybertron that tackled much of the same concept. Playability variety alone keeps reiterations flexible.

I'd rather see a more properly developed G2 or even a G3 with new background material and characters than Beast Wars, myself. I don't think the Beast Wars idea ever lended itself that well to transforming toys even if there are characters I like.
>>
>>7754635
I say we can have both. At least they should finish the main cast in the same T30 standard of Rattrap, Rhinox and Waspinator.

>At least they should finish the main cast in the same T30 standard
They kinda complete the maximal side, theres the primal and megatron cybertron repaints, universe chetor and dinobot, lg blackarachnia and potp Primal/Optimal.

The big 3 missing pieces are scorponok, tarantulas and Terrorsaur.

Earliest I could remember that I only recently found out the name? The guys from Landcross. I had a ton of KOs of them when I was around 3-4 around 1992~93, then I got KOs of the Dinoforce from Victory as well because I could vividly remember owning dinosaur pretender shells. Granted I didn't know who they were till I got into the Japanese G1 stuff years ago. Then more G1 stuff like KOs of Optimus and such. Growing up in Asia and my grandmother buying me a ton of toys got me into the fandom early. Me growing up with KO is also what made me actively dislike KOs and learned how to be careful of my toys since KOs tend to break a lot fairly easily.

Meh, I own it twice so I feel entitled to my overall mixed to negative opinions

good
>Transformation is actually pretty nice. It's basically Wheeljack's but with a messy backpack
>Well articulated and his legs are overall designed pretty nicely
>Sunstreaker's tiny gun stores in a pretty fun way
>Clearances for transformation and articulation are pretty tight but overall there really isn't a risk of paint chipping. The only thing you need to be careful of is flipping the chest plate around since it can rub against the fenders if you fold those into the torso first

bad
>too expensive
>Cheap feeling paint
>Sunstreaker's face sculpts are factory defect tier
>Cordon has no storage for his gun in robot or vehicle mode and can't transform with it in his hand.
>Chestplate is ugly as fuck because of the outward facing hinges and it doesn't look better in person unless you've let the sunk cost take hold of you. The figure could have very easily just used the actual vehicle's roof without flipping it, using only a fake windshield perhaps, but that would have made the chest very slightly inaccurate (gasp)
>They tried to make a gimmick out of the figure triple changing between a modded and unmodded lambo (likely because Lamborghini is really finicky about how their cars are represented for licensing) at the expense of the clusterfuck that is the backpack and its transformation. They should have absolutely and 100% just made the modded engine a removable piece, it would have just been better.

Maybe if I have nothing to buy around january but I'd probably rather save my money)

I might have skipped Sunstreaker if I knew I Cordon was gonna get made, but I like the old countach and kind of have a collection of countach transformers now.

>>7755029
That's a big issue I take with the new sunbow MPs. I don't even have much of a preference either way between the blue or smokey colours, but when it comes to animation accuracy the blue they use just isn't right, it's a really saturated blue when in the cartoon windows were all more of a faded pastel blue.

where the hell can I buy fall of cybertron for ps4
and are there any die cast figures that transform?
>>
>>
>>7755442
1. Have you tried Ebay or your local Flea Market?

2. What kind of die cast? What era? What line? If you want current one, usually only Masterpieces have diecast and even then only Fanstoys, MMC, and DX9 which are 3rd party companies makes them consistently with diecast. For general mainline stuff, they have cut the production for everything since 2012 so for the past 4 year we had very lightweight and hollow figures.
>>
>>7755461
Woops should have said 5 years because since 2018 with the start of siege and studio series, they're upping the quality of the releases a bit while reducing their sizes. So yeah in general we got better stuff but smaller toys.

Man it really would be so nice if people just stopped buying things anyway. So many markets and fandoms would improve if average people just had breaking points.

>I still haven't decided whether Ironhide/Ratchet is worth the price.
I don't know if any of the reissues hiked up the price or not, but when it came out at like 80$ or so it was basically the best value MP out there. The mold really solid overall and bigger than average carbots, and it comes with a SHITTON of accesories. And not "recreate that 5 second scene from the cartoon" accessories you get from MPs now, but like shittons of guns and weapons that are all different and attach in different ways and all at once. It's fun. You can get Ironhide looking like a fucking commando.

Only issues I have with the Vanette MP mold is that Ratchet's unfortunately one of the first MPs to switch to the shitty flakey paint. You have to be careful of his thighs while transforming him, but there isn't much you can do against the edges of the vehicle panels chipping though. Ironhide thankfully uses the old good paint that's durable as all hell. I also consider the shadow fisher upgrades to be pretty much mandatory because getting rid of the hip skirts just makes the figure so much nicer looking. No clue how expensive those are now though.

Nice, my Walmarts sold it for way more, so the cheapest I can get it is 60, since he was sold for 92 here.

About to get g2 Sideswipe and Slamdance. I've heard some reports about foot breakages, how fucked am I?
>>
>>7755700
Just take an exacto knife and cut the excess plastic on slam feet before trying to transformi it.
>>
>>7755700
Very, most copies have that problem. Go read up on some of the other sites on what they did to fix the left leg so it wouldn't break, some of the guides recommended shaving or cutting a few bits to prevent the breakage.
>>
>>7755703
>>7755702
Damn. thanks anons, looking into it, seems pretty dire, but not unfixable. At least Sideswipe is the one I'm more interested in, but it still sucks that we have to fix Hasbro's shitty QC.
>>
>>7755705
No, the annoying part is that unlike a few other places, they won't send replacement parts, or give a partial refund. If it breaks, though shit, send it back and hope the next one doesn't have the problem or you know how to fix it.

>And not "recreate that 5 second scene from the cartoon" accessories you get from MPs now, but like shittons of guns and weapons that are all different and attach in different ways and all at once. It's fun. You can get Ironhide looking like a fucking commando.
Finally, someone who actually likes toys and understands. AND you recognize Ironhide's paint durability. We need more in the fandom like you, it would be a better place.

>likely because Lamborghini is really finicky about how their cars are represented for licensing
This keeps getting parroted, but there is zero proof to suggest that they are any more or less finicky than any of the other automobile companies that have their licenses in the MP line. People just pulled this tidbit out of their ass to try and explain why the MP Sideswipe mold didn't have some kind of collapsing chest to be more cartoon accurate, when in reality the explanation behind that is just that Hasui didn't fucking care and wasn't going to add unnecessary steps to a transformation just to appease autists who were going to compare the toy to a half-assed sketch from 30 years ago.

The only real things we knew about MP alt mode licensors was that VW was reluctant to have their vehicles licensed to "war toys" (which clearly was either exaggerated, or fixed with money), and Mistubishi didn't care about real world accuracy beyond the cab of the truck, although given that the Fuso was a commercial chassis theydesigned for multiple purposes, everything else beyond the cab was usually built by some other company and wouldn't really concern them anyway.

I wish we'd get a Char B1 Transformer. French tanks were aesthetic as fuck.

how much longer must i wait for my BBTS Refraktor 3 pack to ship?
>>
>>7755747
The way the toylines are going now, we're not getting any Transformer concepts that didn't already exist 30 years ago. Check the 3P thread, though, some company recently made a really neat, early 20th century tankformer that is somewhat similar.

Regular Refraktor is still on fucking preorder.

I-I might have to buy that, for um, reasons.

>And not "recreate that 5 second scene from the cartoon" accessories you get from MPs now, but like shittons of guns and weapons that are all different
...which are all to recreate that 5 second scene from the cartoon where he used them.

>He comes with a bunch of accessories referencing many of the gadgets he used in the Generation 1 cartoon. Ironhide's character model did not include any weapons or other extra tools or devices, meaning there was little to no consistency in the depiction of his armament in the series; as such, the toy picks and chooses from the many weapons and accoutrements he was seen using. He includes a pair of generic Autobot laser pistols of the same design as the gun that came with Masterpiece Bumblebee (which Ironhide began using in "Megatron's Master Plan, Part 1") which can be stored on the underside of his vehicle mode, a larger gun based on his original toy's Static Laser Gun (similar weapons having been seen in "City of Steel" and "A Prime Problem"), a set of alternate hands representing his ability to spray liquids through his fingertips (done in multiple episodes), a set of nozzles that can be exchanged for his hands based on those seen in "Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 1", a second set of nozzles based not on anything from the cartoon, but on the connector peg for his Static Laser Gun from his original toy, the back-mounded missile launcher from "More than Meets the Eye, Part 3" based on his original toy's launcher, his wrist-mounted sonodar sensor dish from "S.O.S. Dinobots", complimented by a readout image of dinosaur bones that can be slipped behind his windshield, and the jetpack seen in "The Immobilizer", complete with jet-flare effects.

Sunstreaker owners: does your copy still have good hip ratchets? I've owned my copy for less than twelve hours and his his hips are already ruined. All the gear teeth just wore down within minutes. Gross problem on an otherwise amazing figure

RID Side Burn. Working on restoring his chrome and getting him looking good again, his joints are all good even if his paint has seen better days.

What's odd is that while Jetfire is expensive, he's not overpriced. Wal Mart's Soundwave is what's over priced, but that's still $50. Full disclosure:i paid full price for Hot Rod and Screamer, but I waited till OP was $25.

I bought some of wal marts G1 Bumblebees on clearance and plan to repaint them to resemble Red Bumblebee, Microchange's blue Beetle, and maybe some of the other intl. Bees. Has anyone here done this before and if so how did you take out the windshield part? I guessing very slow work with a rotary tool.
