Alright you guys with all this new merch hitting shelves, let's talk about some figures that don't get snatched up right away. For every Retro Storm or Worthy Cap there's a Misty Knight, MCU Wasp, or Gwenpool.

Personally, my area seems to be overwhelmed by Talos, Grey Gargoyle and the many Carol variants.

Discuss!

Best Venom ML?
>>
>>7701058
Mafex
>>
>>7701060
Ah yes, the Mafex Marvel Legends Venom.
>>
>>7701062
You wanted the best Venom. But either ML is fine. The most recent one with the Heddie Brock head should still be somewhat easy to aqcuire.

But for real, just get the Mafex.
>>
>>7701058
Absorbing Man wave Venom
>McFarlane style head
>Tongue-out head with green slime
>Fists
>Claw hands

Venom wave Venom
>Open mouth head
>Eddie Brock head
>fists only
>symbiote goo neck effect piece

The latter was more likely to have spottier paint, from what I've seen
>>
>>7701047
Pretty much every Walmart and Target in my area has Wasp figures. One Walmart had 7 Wasps, a Malekith and a Nighthawk. That was it.
>>
>>7701060
Revo
>>
>>7701140
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
>>
>>7701168
What about the Marvel Select Venom? I think it's pretty cool
>>
>>7701168
Revo is great if you want a monster style Venom. I personally prefer the McFarlane style. But that's just personal preference.

>>
>>7701181
>>7701177
>>7701140
I’m starting to realize that small states like North Carolina, South, Virginia and others don’t really care for action figures sales. This also happens in small towns where not a lot of collectors are present.
>>
>>7701185
They should have slapped some LGBTQ rainbow stickers on the pegs during pride-month, maybe afew lefties would have bought some to support trans-rights.
>>
>>7701140
>>7701177
The worst part of this is that Wasp and to a lesser extent Malekith and Ant-man were already warming the pegs, and then for some idiotic reason Walmart ordered a shitload more of that wave to promote Endgame rather than order the actual Endgame tie-in wave. It's bonkers.
>>
>>7701251
It wasn't just Walmart. It was also places like Target, Walgreens, Best Buy and even JC Penney. I remember that wave being annoyingly difficult to find for me when it originally came out. Then bam it's everywhere a year later. I even bought a second Thor to use for custom fodder.
>>
>>7701060
What the fuck is up with these Japs constantly delaying their shit
I want venom already
>>
>>7701273
Oh yeah wasn't he supposed to come out like in June? What's the deal?
>>
>>7701140
Are you in Northern CA? Cuz my Walmart has EXACTLY 7 wasps, 1 malakith, 1 nighthawk.
>>
>>7701047
The Black Panther wave pegwarmed HARD in my area, especially this shitty character.

For the longest time, there were 3 pegs full of this shit tier nobody. Eventually, they were put in the discount section before disappearing.
>>
>>7701290
That's not Nakia though.
One a side note
>Black Bolt is still on some pegs in my area even after multiple clearances
Some figures are just doomed from the start.
>>
>>7701294

I always assumed that shit was a meme
>>
>>7701192
I'm in Virginia but I don't think that's what's going on. Actually the poorer Walmarts have a better stock of action figures which makes sense because families can't afford video games. It looks like there's some kind of reset going on because I've seen a few that got the 90's X-Men wave and the puma spider man wave as well. In my area target is easily the worst for stock. It's either captain marvel or wasp. Nothing else

Picked up Silver Samuel at my local comic place. They mark up MLs by five bucks but in this case I didn't mind, because he's great.
>>
has anyone tried the pick up at store option for stuff like the 80th iron man at walmart? tried it and it was meant to be ready "today" but Isn't
>>
>>7701357
I picked up Cap last week that way. I ordered him later in the afternoon and he wasn't ready until the next day at noon. Just be patient. It sounds like they load the big tower thing to be ready at noon.

>>
>>7701360
hmm, my thing says after 12 (like you said, noon) but then its like 1:32 and hasn't moved past the preparation stage
>>
>>7701374
I got my email that it was ready literally at 12:06pm. If it's passed the order received stage you should be fine.
>>
>>7701290
>>7701305
In my area, Nakia sold out at a reasonable pace.
It was all the non Black Panther movie figs of that wave that peg warmed.

The 2nd BP wave was scarce in my area, since the stores overloaded on Captain Marvel waves.

I got that Dora Milaje on sale at one of my Walgreens, Killmonger for $14 online from walmart, and Klaue for $16 at a game stop out of town.

>>
>>7701047
every store seems to have a 5-10 carols, a few furys and yon rogg. i've been seeing more wasps in the way back too.

i don't understand why they don't put better sales on the shelf warmers. shit like this should be dropped to $10 and then they'd probably clear them out.
>>
>>7701383
It took my local Walmarts 3 years to put the 80% shelf-warmer Dormammu wave on sale.
>>
>>7701360
>tower thing
I've seen those things go up and I don't even know what the fuck this meme machine is.
>>
>>7701382
So?
>>
>>7701389
Instead of going to pick up your order from the customer service desk it now waits for you in this giant tower. When the order is ready you get an email with a barcode. The tower has a scanner and you just scan the barcode on your phone and the tower poops out your order. It's nifty.
>>
>>7701382
#1 was alright if you didn't buy it you fucked up
>>
>>7701392
The paint on them isn't great.
>>
>>7701392
So you finally changed the script? "It's not a standard problem" to "so what?" good man, God bless.
>>
>>7701383
Typically it boils down to
>store being a more rural store and is given less clearance money
>store manager denying the toy department any clearance money to make things down themselves
Some things are automatically clearanced company wide but particular things in a wave or series that refuses to sell wont.
>>
>>7701394
The other head was bad too, but I only took photos of the extra ones since that's the one I'm more interested in using
>>
>>7701409
It's not a standard problem though. It really isn't.
>>
>>7701494
You're aware we're discussing Marvel Legends, correct? There's always been figures that are shipped with shitty faces 100% of the time, without any variance.
>>
>>7701500
This is a troll post, right? God I hope so, because you're laying down a lot of bullshit there bucko.
>>
>>7701494

Boggle eyed Cap is a pretty standard problem though. I see way more fucked ones than not.

It's a problem they have in general, outside of the figures that get face-printing.
>>
>>7701502
It's nowhere near as bad as you're trying to make it out to be.
>>
>>7701501

Why have they never done a perfect comic Cap? They've put out 6/10s or worse and meanwhile they get obscure niggas like Silver Samurai perfect on the first try.
It's especially glaring in the same wave as a perfect Thor and the 15th flawless Iron Man they've done.

It was, though technically it was a Red Skull BAF based on a recent storyline where he takes part of Xavier's brain and basically turns into Onslaught. The Juggernaut wave came a few months later (I think, pretty sure they were at least in the same year) and that Onslaught head was packed in so anyone who already had the Red Skull BAF could use it to have a traditional Onslaught.

I like the look of Grey Gargoyle (that semi-translucent plastic with the black bits to emulate stone is awesome!), I just don't know anything about him and don't really feel like paying full price for him. I'll for sure snap him up if I ever see him at a discount though.
>>
While the upcoming 3-pack Cyclops is looking cool as hell, is anyone else disappointed we didn't get retooled versions of the "smoking" visor and optic blast heads from the Retro wave Cyke? I love those heads, I just don't really have any place in my collection for an X-Factor Cyclops.

Nah. As of last year, there are reportedly still 360 KMarts open across the US. In fact, there's one real close to me. It's still open but I try not to go there, it's very depressing. Dim lights, super outdated stock, it feels like it's dying. Which it is.

I found 1st movie Iron Man toys there a few years ago. Their toy section is like a time machine, but a bad one--it never has any cool old stuff, just bad old stuff that nobody wants.

That's the thing: I don't actually want to spend a lot of money on Cyclops because I sort of hate Cyclops. He's a righteous stick-up-his-ass little shit. But I want to complete my team, and as long as I am buying him, I want the best possible version of him $20 will buy. To me, that would have included an optic blast effect. But oh well.

I really do love Select Venom but I'm thinking of buying another figure just to swap his ankles for ones with ankle pivot. He's good as he is but I think a few key articulation changes could make him great. Improved ab crunch, head articulation, and ankle pivot being chief among them. Maybe double jointed knees too if I could find something that could easily work for him.

big shoutout to walmart for scamming me out of an iron man, did the in store pickup thing and my store sold out of their stock of him and i guess didn't reserve one for me. was meant to be ready two days ago and now it's fucked. guess i should try to get my money back. anyone else had an experience like this?
>>

Nothing /toy/-related, but I bought one of those $800 gaming laptops just to test it out, online, and when I went to go pick it up at the store they said I hadda' wait like 2-3 weeks for them to get my "specific" order. You should be able to get a refund if you got a email receipt/code.
>>
>>7704168
just got a refund within seconds, they know what went down. might go pick up thor as a consolation prize, but i'm very disappointed by this. went around town looking for iron man and just about everywhere had him but he wasn't on the floor yet.
>>
>>7704033
are they all like that? also wouldn't this be a simple fix considering you could pop the biceps off at the joint and swap the hands?
>>
Why are you buying all the latest characters just for the sake of collecting them even if you don't give a shit and/or already have them?
For instance Yon-Rogg or Ant-Man : who the fuck needs them for?
Nick Fury? You have dozens of those and he's not even a superhero he's a sack of shit.
Classic armor Iron-Man, why? You already have hundred billions of them.

Think about your secret grail that you wish they make but never released it.
This is exactly why. Because you buy all the trendy garbage, they can't make infinite waves so they select the most popular and safe crap because you buy them even more than the children from the general audience and skyrocket their metrics.
>>
>>7704289
Well I got the recent Scorpion because I always wanted a classic-ish figure with smaller proportions. Even skimped on all the Mac Gargan Venoms and the old Toybiz Scorpion, so I'm glad the long wait paid off.
>>
>>7704289
They'll make Stilt-man and Mister Fear eventually. I'm fairly confident in that.
The only time I've had the problem you describe is with the recent Kingpin wave, where I care about the BAF more than any of the individual figures, and he's popular enough for the buying his individual pieces to be less cost effective than buying those figures I don't care about with the pieces.

Other than that I've always been able to pick and choose, including buying loose figures from exclusive box sets and shit like that.

The 'trendy garbage' is the shit that allows them to make as many waves as they do though. If people didn't buy every spider-man and iron man they make they'd just release less waves, not focus more on c-listers.
>>
>>7704289
>This is exactly why.
Huh?
>>
>>7704185
All of them are like that because they labeled them wrong on the sculpt itself. The biceps should be swapped and from the elbow down, swapping them out will line up the sculpt correctly. With the way Hasbro does the arm pegs, now, it makes things much easier to do as long as you hear everything up.

It would be pretty simple. Just bring a smaller item with you, like another figure, scan it, then place it back in the “to be scanned” side. Take your figures across the scanner at the same time as the other item, and put them in the bag. Tell the machine you’re not bagging it to throw off the weight sensor. Provided an employee isn’t watching you like a hawk, you’re off scott free.

Would I ever try this? Hell no. It’d be really stupid to get detained by security over $60. But it is theoretically possible if you play it safe.
>>
>>7701349
Is there a reason they didn't put Silver Samurai out in the X-Force wave and Mr Sinister in the Classic wave? Would have made more sense as Mr Sinister was a well loved 4 inch figure while the old 4 inch Silver Samurai was a huge shelf warmer ala Bonebreaker, Grizzly, and Kane.
>>
>>7706166
Hasbro's been sitting on that Silver Samurai mold for over a decade. Also, Sinister's been in demand for ages so it makes sense to put it in a BAF wave to better sell it.

i passed up one at Target 2 weeks ago, someone bought it while i was looking at other Legends stuff and Transformers. The little bitty Wal Mart in my home town was the last place I thought i'd find with it, but that's what happened. I swapped the busted one for the new one and all joints function correctly out of the box. Nice! Also, has anyone tried removing Marko's face from the helmet? >>7706623
Trade figures on facebook group. A lot of people buying garbage on impulses, a lot of people looking for customs fodder and selling for cheap.

The problem though is that you're exposing yourself to some manchildren, and some of them are pretty needy/entitled when you dont ship your stuff right away. Also using facebook is lame. I just stopped doing that and eat some 3-5 bucks markup buying off ebay. Get some sniping app, so you always bid at the last second and have no chance to overbid from impulse

Anyone?
>>
>>7705689
Nah that cape looks like a headache and I'd unironically take Gorilla Magneto over the revo
>>
>>7705679
You mean the standard retail price of $19.99? Because that's what each figure costs in that 3 pack.
>>
>>7706721
nah, I mean aftermarket price for the single figure. The retail price is perfectly fine but I don't really care about the other figures in that 3 pack. I guess I could sell those but even then it seems like too much trouble for yet another Magneto that really doesn't look great. He's better than the alternatives, but eh, not hyped on any of the Magneto figures we have so $10 for a subpar one is fine with me.

Wait so she's now showing up everywhere? I was on the fence if I wanted to keep mine but if that's the case then I'll sell it off before the drop.

>>7706767
Just get the three pack. It's easily Hasbro's best Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch they'll ever do or release in.
>>
>>7706784
Definitely the best Scarlet Witch. Quicksilver not so much. His body is basic reuse and they couldn't even be bothered to give him his pointy hair. I already have the Revo Mags so I'm planning on skipping the set but if Quicksilver was better I'd be tempted. I may buy Wanda loose off of eBay though. I've seen listings for her for retail price + shipping.
>>
>>7706767
You can easily sell the Scarlet witch for 30 bucks and Quicsilver for 20-25 bucks.
>>
>>7706359
It doesn't help that her movie didn't exactly have the same staying power as Black Panther or Wonder Woman. You could blame that on Endgame, but people didn't really seem to care about Captain Marvel despite all the grandstanding. Just another Ant-man.
>>
Binary Captain Marvel has struck my local Wal-Mart.
>>
>>7707181
Diamond in the ruff for some people.
>>
>>7707185
>ruff
I keep seeing Bill, Loki, and Malekith everywhere. And whenever there's an 80th figure around, it's always Thor. I keep having to avoid the temptation of starting a Thor shelf.
>>
>>7707191
Ruff, rough, you know what I meant.
>>
I am gonna pick up one of those Walmart exclusive Capt Marvel. I just need Target to pull their head outta their ass and put their exclusive green costume on clearance. Every store has 10 of them and it won't move for months. It's reaching Gwenpeg levels.
>>
>>7706096
I really prefer the BAF but good luck
>>
>>7706412
No, because your order will get auto-cancelled in September when it’s still not in stock.

Burger education at work, ladies and gentlemen. You morons don't even know basic shit about your own damn country.

The Walgreens near me has a couple of the Infamous Doctor Doom figures. I already have the Iron Man figure it's based on and there's a real Doom on the way. Is it worth picking one of them for the unmasked head?
>>
>>7708204
No I really wouldn't bother.
>>
>>7705793
Absolutely based
>>
>>7708204
Buy one. Take the head out. Return it. Really embrace the "piece of shit" m.o. that comes with collecting these things
>>
>>7707610
My Target refuses to clearance their exclusive toys. They'll rather pull them off shelves to salvage or keep them forever.

>>7708039
How does it feel to be so obsessed with burgers but never being able to it a real one you shit hole third worlder

Fuck off Reddit
>>
Does anyone else have that problem where you try to limit your shit to a per-character basis like "Only Spider-man people" or "Only X-men" but then the jewish muscle in your brain starts saying "but wouldn't it be cool if you collected all the Illuminati members?"
>>
>>7708389
I don't even know how to use reddit.
>>
>>7708396
I tried keeping it cleanly to X-men and Spider-men, but how can you not collect these definitive versions of classic costume avengers?
>>
Anyone got the Onslaught Wave Sharon Cartor and the Smart Hulk Rescue? I’m wondering how the Sharon head would look on the Rescue body.
>>
>>7708396
I've been pretty good about only collecting characters I really like. No specific theme though I do have mostly X-men.
>>
>>7708396
I find myself only getting characters I want which has ended with me only really getting spider-man and fantastic four stuff
>>
>>7708396
Yeah, it’s started with wanting the Wendigo BAF, then liking the Guardian figure which led to me wanting the 80th Cap if I found it at my local Walmart, which I did.
>>
>>7708632
I don't think I've complete a single BAF
>>
>>7708717
Apocalypse and Wendigo are the only BAFs that I purchased the entire wave to make. Man-thing and Caliban, I bought by themselves.
>>
>>7708632
I'm still seething that we lost the metallic red paint in the prototype to be replaced with plastic red paint with fuzzy linework
>>
>>7708767
I wonder if that was even metallic paint. Could have been that new metallic plastic Hasbro is using lately, which looks surprisingly legit.
>>
>>7708724
Second this. Try to buy them by themselves.

I’ve assembled Lizard, Kingpin, Sandman, Monster Venom, SP//DR, Apocalypse, Caliban, Sauron, and Juggernaut.

I straight up bought Rhino, Hobgoblin, Onslaught, MCU Vulture, and Abomination. Would highly recommend that, takes way less time and the complete figure is almost always cheaper than assembling because there’s always one part that’s super duper rare.
>>
>>7708946
Isn't it usually a better idea to just buy a case if you're interested in even say, half the figures? That way you technically get the BAF for a mere $20, and there's a decent chance you can make back some of your money selling off some of the figures you don't want.
>>
>>7708954
Only case I’ve ever bought was Space Venom. Dunno why, it was just the only wave I’ve ever wanted every figure. Turned out to be a brilliant idea, since that wave was impossible to find anywhere for retail.

I have found that selling figures you don’t want (that are unpopular characters) is difficult, when you paid $20 per. But selling a BAF piece is easy no matter what. So, if I don’t want all the figures in a case, I’ll never buy a case. I’d rather buy the BAF completed or get the parts I’m missing. I just hate haggling over $8 parts, it takes forever. My Caliban sat unassembled for like a month, and I just wasn’t motivated to hustle to get his legs for cheap.

So you already have Vintage Storm preordered. You walk past a wild Storm on Walmart. What do you do /toy/?
A. Buy it and scalp it on ebay for 10 bucks profit
B. Buy it but too lazy to scalp it, so it just sits on your collection in box.
C. Buy it and sell/give it to a person you know/friend
D. Leave it on the pegs because you don't need it
>>
>>7709289
C.
me and a friend always hunt for toys and he doesn't preorder it so i'll sell it to him
>>
>>7709289
D. I've basically already got it. I can wait.
>>
>>7709289
E. Buy it now, return the preordered one when I inevitably go back to Walmart at some point in the future
>>
>>7709355
Or just cancel the preorder if it hasn’t shipped.
>>
>>7709289
This happened to me. My Storm had shipped and I couldn't cancel the pre order. I decided to be a good boy and leave her for the next collector. Mine was delivered a week ago so I did the right thing.

Z. Buy it, replace it with a Female Ghostbuster figure, and then return it for my money back.
>>
>>7708632
The Day of the Rake? War Plan Red?
>>
>>7709289
D. The closest walmart to me had more 80th stuff than i thought they would, but no Vintage and EE sent my shipping notice already. I did cancel my ee preorder for Iceman when i found him in Target first. Miracles of modern tech, i canceled the order from my cel phone while in the same target.
>>
>>7709355
>>7709358
>>7709376
Why would you bother to cancel preorder and get her off the pegs? The internet stock is way higher than your local stock. You're just as much of a problem
>>
>>7709602
Because I'm impatient as fuck. I do that with literally all my domestic toy purchases. I'll pre order them somewhere to ensure I get them in case I don't find them out in the wild. Then if I do find them before they ship I cancel them. Doesn't everyone do this?
>>
>>7708396
I haven't had a specific need to keep things to a specific property or to specifically finish a team I start, so basically I've just been going in on characters I really wanted. The Thing and Doom are my only FF figures, Beta Ray Bill is my only Thor character, etc.

Secret option D: Buy it, wait for my preorder to arrive, check the paint apps and sell/return the worst one.

Did that with Jubilee. The one I preordered had shit eyes on the alt head and the one I bought in store had shit eyes on the regular head. Switched the heads and sold the spare, so someone got a Jubilee with two shit heads.
