Did you know...?

The top part of Scar Pheyden and Skeleden's heads can be removed, but only Skeleden's has a Glyos peg. Scar Pheyden's head is non-standard.

All Glyos parts have a "sweet spot" that they want to be oriented into. For example, you can test this by slowly twisting an already assembled traveler's hand - it will give you a gentle resistance up until the moment it is oriented the way it should be with the arm and then will "pop" into place.

Human adult urethras are Glyos compatible.

Mark Daughtry makes them under the name 'Odell Design'. They're fully compatible with Knights of the Slice's Fit Function system, which Jesse Moore invented and patented. They're around three feet tall and if you feed them after midnight they turn into sand tornadoes and shred your body while you sleep.

Most standard Glyos figs are around 2.5" tall or so.

Glyos is technically a building line, like Lego, and they come together with a peg-and-socket system. The creator, Matt Doughty, generally allows free use of this system, so there are dozens of sister companies that have sprung up and create Glyos-compatible figures with Matt's blessing.

Releases are done drop-style, you are given a time and date and you show up on time to buy stuff. Matt himself does drops about every 2 months, the sister companies at more random times.

It's a fun-ass line, and there is a lot of room to get creative with builds.

Pheyden had a lazer gun and a axe. Phanost and Pheyden fought a mighty battle. They battled all over the dimensions, and everything was destroyed. The Sarvos clones moved on to go battle other people. Then Govurom came too. And he helped Phanost with his evilness. It was all cool. Then the REAL Pheyden came. He was fighting pretty soon too. It was all a mess...

But this is not our story.

Grow up. Rereleasing all-star figures would be a net improvement for Glyos as a whole. Not necessarily right after a popular figure sells out, but over time, maybe drop the occasional Pyrotellica 2 or something. It'd force the aftermarket down a little too, which is something it might benefit from overall. People trying to sell desirable newer travelers for $60 apiece need to get knocked down a peg or two.

Several colorways are virtually guaranteed to come back around in the Glyos world. Black, white, and clear are three of those. Clear in particular because it is the most versatile base color for customs.
>>
>>7718245
I already built one or two if these right after it first came out, but I'm saving this in case I ever forget how. Thanks for taking the effort, friend. This is a nice comprehensive guide.
>>
I'm confused. What are these? Are they from a comic? They have a cool style, how do i learn more about them?
>>
>>7718803
It's an original toyline turned into a sort of mini franchise. A few companies use the system (with permission, not like Lego/Mega Bloks) so they each have their own thing going on.

Glyos.com is the original, and there are some short lore videos and comics under the Passcode comics, as well as a few simple games. Other companies are toyfinity and the Godbeast, which are 80s robots and bug people respectively. Glyos.wikia.com is a great source and has a good section for what's currently in stock.

>>

They exist in Matt's museum of one-off figures, but they don't and never did exist as things that can be bought, therefore they never existed as a product. You know what I meant.
>>

>>

>>

I'm not related to Venom Snake but I wish I was because he's a major fucking hottie. I'm a godbeast but my teeth are straight and white. I have pale white skin. I'm also a witch, and I go to a magic school called Hogwarts in Kansas where I'm in the seventh year (I'm forty-three). I'm a goth (in case you couldn't tell) and I wear mostly black. I love Hot Topic and I buy all my clothes from there.

>>
>>7721230
Look at them. They come to my storepage when they know they will not buy. Visitors use the Paypal, but they are mere trespassers. Only I, Marty, know the true power of the Mushi. I was cut in half, divorced, but through my motorcycle and sunglasses, the Void called to me. It brought me here and here I was reborn. We cannot blame these creatures. They are being led by a false prophet, an impostor who knows not the secrets of the Resin. Behold the eBay scalpers, come to scavenge and desecrate this sacred realm. My brothers, did I not tell of this day? Did I not prophesize this moment? Now, I will stop them. Now I am changed, reborn through the energy of divorce. Forever bound to the Mushi. Let it be known, if the builders want true salvation, they will lay down their arms, and wait for the baptism of my Mk II Mushi. It is time. I will teach these trespassers the redemptive power of my sculpts. They will learn its simple truth. The army builders are lost, and they will resist. But I, The Godbeast, will cleanse this place of their impurity.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01D9BUSI0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Renegade head anon here, I've been using this to make molds and cast. It's worth noting that I didn't spend much time looking for the cheapest option possible, so it might be more expensive. For mixing, I've been using cheap plastic cups, like the ones you'd use when brushing your teeth, as well as "snow cone" cup tips as makeshift funnels.

This stuff cures really fast though so it might not be ideal if you wanna use a vacuum chamber to get an ideal cast.

Neat, thanks
Have you had any issues with the neck pegs breaking, or showing any signs of stress?
>>
>>7728806
I haven't, but I've been casting from a metal master copy whose neck peg is basically just a straight stick with friction. It doesn't have the ring that locks Glyos parts into place, so pretty much every head I've made is just sitting there with a little bit of friction that holds it in. I've sanded down any peg I found too tight, since I don't want to ruin a piece by having this half-tight broken peg rattling around in a socket.
>>
>>7728811
Thanks man

>>7728825
No problem, and I still feel obligated to mention that selling any copies is bootlegging, which is not good.

Room cleaning, found my Outlander box. Forgot how much stuff I bought from him in the day...
>>
>>7735132
I'll suck yo fuck for some outlanders
>>
>>7735134
I find it funny how in the beginning it was fashionable for the more snobbish collectors to shit all over the Outlanders, and now that Ni’s “retired” to go to college, people are falling all over themselves for missing them
>>
>>7735139
What is there even to shit on about? I came in way after Outlanders weren't a thing anymore, but they look so awesome and have a distinct style that still fits in better with Onell stuff than most other third party glyos.

Was it the posture thing? Wasn't that fixed with the extra set?
>>
>>7735139
I was taking a hiatus from toys when the outlanders started coming full force. I remember getting a couple of the original colorways and building some bitching centaurs. Real shame they're gone.
>>
>>7735141
People were taking the piss out of Ni for “daring” to make what they considered a “Glyos interloper”. Up until then, he had mostly been painting customs and sculpting extra heads and non-articulated mini-figures, which I freaking loved.
People would typically find anything to bitch about, from the sculpting to the color choices. (Pointless, since everyone making figs chipped in for a share of whatever color plastic Matt was ordering for a release)
Where Ni went above and beyond was making extra heads, helmets, and accessories
>>
>>7735154
Would you be able to make an image that clearly shows how the extra parts actually change Outlander? I can kind of see it from the feet on those guys, but it's still hard to tell. The whole leg rotates around, or something?

Also, are the thigh parts just straight up Traveler parts?
>>
>>7735139
>>7735141
>>7735154
I was not the biggest fan of Outlanders back in the day. I though there were some sorta clumsy design choices in it, and to some extent I still feel that way. However, it did do some things that I thought were fantastic--I loved that you could flip the chest to give it a raised collar look, and the 45 degree angled feet were a very interesting choice that we don't see enough of in Glyos. Same for the bent elbows, really. But anyway, I don't think it's weird at all that people have softened on the Outlander over time. Absence really does make the heart grow fonder.

The thing I mainly miss is Ni's customs. He was always great at that, and I loved seeing his wacky builds. I even commissioned him once or twice.
>>
>>7735139
He’s not in college. He was in college when he started. He graduated before he went out of business.

>>7735141
Because they were sculpted on top of travelers and callgrim parts and the torso is an upside down traveler torso with a collar. All this was brought up years ago on the otf glyos section.
>>
>>7735367
I spoke to him after his web provider went tits-up. He said he was in the process of moving house and “going back to school” so getting the website back up wasn’t high on the priority list. His words. This was some time ago. Whether he went back, is still in, or graduated nowadays is just being pedantic for the sake of arguing.
And yes, they were sculpted “on top of Traveller parts” to get the proportions as close as possible to assist Glyos compatibility, all under Matt’s advice and guidance. ALSO covered long ago.
Doesn’t diminish his contributions or his original sculpts unless you just want to be pissy.
>>
>>7735189
I packed them back up, but there’s this: he had wedge-shaped ankle extenders to make it taller; yes, you had to flip the lower leg around, but the effect still worked. As for the thighs, some of tge early ones are close, but I have some with a more severely angled knee connection that made him look like he was squatting. He released some new resculpted hip pieces that straightened the leg out more.
>>
>>7735204
I hear ya. When he go his own table at NYCC, I bought a bunch of his customs and sone exclusives. The dyed metallic one on the left was an instant sale for me. I loved his custom heads, I just felt that clear colors made the sculpting less visible.
>>
>>7735398

>>
>>7737300

>>
>>7737300
>>7737306

>>
>>7737295
Generally long enough that they are dyed, and every kind you can buy doesn't work, I think they discontinued the real stuff and you can't get it easily anymore? But I have no idea don't ask me, I've never done it
>>
>>7737295

You want the pricy RIT now, not the basic stuff, unless you luck into some really old shit.
Keep the dye hot. Keep checking the pieces for saturation.
When your pieces are done, dunk them into 91% isopropyl alcohol.
>>
As for how to keep the dye hot, I mix a cap of dye with a cup of water and a pinch of salt. I nuke the mix for 30 seconds at a time. The hotter the dye, the more the pvc will absorb since warm pvc loosens up. Use tongs or something else (I use plastic forks or spoons) to get the pieces in and out of the dye solution.
>>
>>7738155
>the pricy RIT
Rit dyemore, their due for synthetic materials? Or something else?

>>7738160
And thanks for this, it’s a bit different from the method I was considering
>>
>>7738160
>>7738155
Also keep in mind that the higher the heat, the more the potential for warping. This typically isn't much of a worry with Glyos since a lot of the parts are very dense and stubby and the plastic relatively soft, but thought I should warn you all the same.
>>
>>7738155

are there any alternatives with the same dye effect to RIT? or we're just fucked for one formula?

KOTS and AFOTM hate literally retarded at this point. If you dont like the toys it just means you don't like basically any action figure from the early to mid 90s because that's the style they're going for and they nail it. Some of the figures are worked on extensively by Matt himself, Chakra was just made by James Groman, who at this point is just as prolific if as the 4H in the toy world. The original pizza guys might have turned people off due to them looking like cheap power ranger rip offs, but every figure since has had improvements, and stylistically they are exactly what they want to be.

Subject: Condolence Letter For Death of Toyline

Dear Sir/Madam,

It was most shocking to hear the sad demise of Glyos. Although this is Allah`s will ordained in his laws and indeed a sad reality of life. We accept it with a heavy heart as we all have to pass through this phase.

At Such tragic moments we are left with no alternative but to bow to Almighty`s will and seek his mercy and blessing for our dear departed souls. May Allah the most beneficent grant you and your collection endurance to bear this tragic loss and reward you for your patience that he has promised.

We are by your side in this time of grief.

With kind regards,

Does this confirm mold modularity for Villser/Mushi/Zullen?
>>
>>7747787
Toolings aren't modular. You can't take pieces from 3 different molds, throw them together, and run that.
>>
>>7747789
You can on some molds. Marty's made Mushi that use separate torso and limb colors, and no reverses ever came out of them.

Fun fact, the Robo Force figures are separated into like 5 or 6 different molds. The legs are separate from the arms are separate from the torso blocks are separate from the heads are separate from the gun parts. This is how that Devastator Biomass was a thing. If you can run portions of a figure separately, you can just tell the factory to build the figure from those parts.
>>
>>7747840
Yeah, and most molds have certain parts that can be blocked off, so it can be run without those parts. However, you cant take parts of 3 different toolings, slap them all together into one mold, adn run that.
>>
>>7747843
That is true, sorry if I misunderstood you. I thought you had meant that the figures are limited to one mold, which for some (like the Traveler, unfortunately) is true. However, thankfully it seems like over time producers have been a lot smarter about using mold space. The Zullen could even get an extra set, someday, with how the mold is laid out.

These are almost PERFECT, my only criticisms are that the Triceratops head is sitting a little too high to look good, and the T-Rex head is sitting a little too low, a built-up cone-like structure to give the impression of a thick, muscular neck would do wonders.

Great shit nonetheless though, these are really awesome.
