Fucking go to Walmart and Target now.

I snagged Cap and X-Force Logan. I have Kurt. Sinister, Storm, Thor and Iron Man are all in the mail from Pulse. Passing in Storm was tough but I'll get her this weekend. I already found Iceman a few weeks ago.

I can confirm that every Cap alt head out of the bunch had mis printed eyes. Really a bummer. Mine is the best I could find.

Finally saw the 80th figures at Walmart. Iron Man and Thor look pretty fantastic, and I'm probably gonna go back for them after work(didn't grab them when I was there because it's on the way anyway and I didn't want to leave them in my hot car during work)

Cap looks decent for an ML, but not amazing enough I feel the $5 price bump is justified. Especially for what's likely a placeholder figure, sonce I feel a classic Mafex is inevitable

He said my Thor and Iron Man order hadn't shipped yet but would this week.

My favorite Marvel hero is finally part of my collection. Kurt was well worth the wait. I got Storm in today as well, but can't decide whether or not to open her. She's in great shape, packaging-wise, and if I'm gonna open her, I may grab one in-store somewhere and save the nice one to trade to someone who's more OCD about box condition (I get it, I'm the same way with books).

I literally fucking forgot Magma, but maybe she's always been a weird case where both the writers and even New Mutants fans forget about her sometimes. >>
>>7691515
why are toys so damn expensive now?
>>
>>7692242
Time will tell if the 80th Anniversary figures are actually worth the extra money it took in terms of quality, or if they're just trying to casually see if they can raise the price of Legends in general.
>>
>>7692172
Do you really think they just sculpted a new scalemail Cap torso to never rerelease it?
>>
>>7692242
It’s called inflation.

>>
>>7692250

>>
>>7692242
The 80th Single figures are 90-100% all new sculpt that can't really be used for anything but those 3 figures. Gotta recoup the cost somewhere. And the 2 packs are just 2 packs. Though $50 for 2 $20 figures feels like a little much.
>>
>>7692242

>>
>>7692246
The Iron Man is legit great. It looks and feels like a more expensive figure for the most part.

I didn't even notice the two-packs were 50, I had just assumed they were 40, or possibly 45. I'm not sure if I buy a few extra head/hands and accessories being worth that extra entire ten dollars, but who knows.

I assumed Colossus/Juggernaut would have been an extra 10 or 20 bucks more easily, since those fuckers are huge and I know they weren't going to let Juggernaut go for anywhere near the price of a normal Legends.
>>
>>7691518
Every time I see this I just think of the gag from Reno 911 where Junior finally takes off his sunglasses because they're being audited by the police commission and he has insane crosseye, and they ask "And they let you carry a firearm?" and he says "I'm the best shot on the force, ma'am."
>>
>look up Hasbro Pulse return policy

>>
>>7691518
When I was at Walmart buying Iron Man and Thor, I looked at all the Caps to see if I might reconsider passing him up, and of the ones they had, only one had a good primary head, and not one of the alt heads was at all decent.

It makes no sense because Tony's unmasked head is probably one of the best Hasbro's ever done, and even the worst of the Thors I saw was still fine.

the only wolverines that can really look decent swapping masked heads for now are the vintage wave and apocalypse wave, the shade of yellow is almost the same on both.
>>
>>7692775
I might actually scavenge some of the extra parts for her armored arm from the actual 90's Illyana figure, since it might not take that much fiddling to make them fit and it's definitely a figure that I could bear to sacrifice. I might also consider giving her the sword from it, if I could figure out some way to repaint it to make it look less cheap.

I'm not sure e-tailers do that kind of discount all that quickly, since shelf-warming tends to be a phenomenom more for stores with real shelves where 'sellable real estate' is a much more tangible and finite thing where stuff that won't sell needs to be moved eventually to make room for what will. Online stores can sell literally everything they have at once without one item clogging the space needed for another, so there's not as much impetus to discount things as fast.

I was able to see tracking faster than them by looking at the FedEx app. They ship via FedEx and I'm signed up for their app. I recommend signing up and registering your name and address. It will automatically add any packages with your name and address as soon as they enter the system. I was able to get tracking immediately that way before Pulse updated. Granted I don't know what's what until they update the app I have the right amount of tracking numbers.

It’s not a good pic and my posing could be better, but the fact that it can pull a fastball special off unassisted has me damn near giggling with joy
>>
>>7693314
Just do it anon, not sure what else you collect but the fact that my 90s X-men team cost me the same as shipping for my imports really makes me think they're super worth it. I used to avoid legends out of some sense of "superiority" but they're a lot of fun.
>>
>>7693314
Jubes is just kinda ok, but beast is pretty amazing. Definitely grab one if you can find him.

>>
>>7692347
Not much to compare, the two pack you are buying 3 different head for hela that is pretty much it, and yeah hand accessorizes for break mewmew.
I thinking to take my chance for target to slash price during holidays.
>>
>>7692355
At this point you might as well buy the Mezco Hulk if you want that axe, given Hela's prices now.
>>
>>7693312
It literally does, dummy
>>
Slowpoke here, just realized that 80th anniversary cap is not on online retailer everywhere. Is he a walmart/walgreen/target exclusive?
>>
>>7693340
No, it doesn't. Buying a bunch of a desirable figure to sit on them until their value is increased by scarcity, *because people bought them up to sit on them and wait for their value to go up* is literally, LITERALLY what scalping is
>>
>>7693314
$100 for Jean? Fuck that, MLs should literally all be $20 because that's the level of quality the figures are. I really like ML but come on, i just can't rationalize spending a benjamin on Jean when I already have Cyke and Wolverine. I'm real proud of my Cyclops!

Nightcrawler is fucking awesome though. I watched a bunch of reviews and idk if it's just me but i swear noone said that it's a unique body mold. I couldn't even tell it has butterfly joints underneath the vest. 3 perfect head sculpts. Awesome figure.
>>
>>7693370
Walmart, so yeah we’re fucked
>>
>>7693387
He does have butterfly joints, but they don’t work as much because of the red costume overlay.
>>
Cannonball feels weird, man. Lack of legs aside, he still feels a little halfassed. I think if he'd had the new power rangers torso joints, or even just a diaphram instead of a hinge, I'd like him a lot better. I just keep trying to bend him to the side when I pose him

I love Doppelganger. Six-arm Spidey didn't turn out great, to be generous, but it works far better for the more alien, more creaturey Doppelganger. He's really expressive and fun to pose, and while a torso swivel would've been real nice, you can get by without it.

I hope they learn from these six-armed guys for the inevitable Spiral upgrade.
>>
>>7693438

Has anyone made a figure of Thor's pre-Sakaar look from Ragnarok? I've always found the design rather underrated, if you can ignore the lack of color variety. Disappointing that only statues seem available.
>>
>>7693610
Should be an easy head swap desu. Just get the 10 Years Thor and slap his head on Valkyrie 2 pack Thor.
>>
>>7693522
I'm not going to help you rationalize your behavior to soothe your conscience. Just decide for yourself whether you're OK with your behavior, you don't need to seek the validation of strangers on the internet. If a figure's value has increased in the aftermarket we aren't simply demanding you sell it at cost, but trying to gouge other anons is not cool, and the only reason someone would buy from another anon in the BST is if they sold at a better price than eBay or wherever. That isn't to say you need to give shit away for cheap prices. If other people's samaritanism is making you feel guilty for charging a high price... then either don't do that, or sell on an impartial marketplace like eBay. This is entirely a personal problem as far as I'm concerned. You simply won't find any sympathy here.
>>
>>7693522
I say just do what you want. It's simple supply and demand. You have the item and someone is willing to pay money for it so sell it at a high price. It's not a commodity anyway it's a luxury. Who cares what anyone thinks really.

Imagine being this angry by toys.
>>
>>7693568

Because a friend had me keep an eye out for it only for him to get one in his own. Not that matters, it's clearly not scalping if it's on clearance in the first place.

they really have no reason to give a shit though. the two Six Arm Spideys were just to cater to a minority of fans who wanted those figures for completionist reasons. There are like 5 characters tops with 4 or 6 arms and there is no reason to put that much effort into the molds if you don't really need it that much for the future. Not saying that it's not a fuck you to fans but from a business POV, there's just no incentive

>>
>>7694031
I think some people here and the guy in question are talking about entirely different things. the guy you quoted was merely saying that if you buy a figure with the intention of using it or whatever and, for some reason, don't unpack it, AND it increases in price over time, and he sells it for a higher price, it's not scalping in his opinion. Meanwhile, you're implying that he's saying that buying 20 figures and selling them for more isn't scalping which is bullshit considering that a person who's buying 20 figures usually has the intention of selling the figures anyway.

I agree that what he's referring to is scalping but just with no malicious intent. There's a clear difference whether a person is just lucking out because the figure they want to sell has become more expensive or someone who had the intention to make money from the get-go
>>
So who's worse? Scalpers? Or the retards that pay scalper prices?
>>
>>7694094
This. If fans are retarded enough to accept the high prices, so be it.
I bought Mysterio for 30 eurobucks a few month ago and sold him for 60 two weeks ago. Got Spider Punk for 20 bucks and after receiving two for free due to delivery bullshit, I sold the two remaining for 50 bucks each. People are willing to pay for it so why should I feel bad?
>>
>>7694111
objectively, it's the scalpers but FUCK people who pay those shitty prices. I can somehow understand paying double the price for ML figures but paying triple or five times the price? Fuck, you got to be dumb as fuck then
>>
>>7694121
If people are willing to pay those prices why shouldn't someone charge them? They're selling the figure to make money, not because they want to be a generous person.
>>
>>7694123
I totally agree. Me thinking that it's unethical doesn't mean that I think that it shouldn't be done because I've scalped numerous times. Capitalism is king and if people are wealthy enough to afford it, why not
>>
>>7694126
Why do you think it's unethical? If people are willing to pay the high price, that's on them.
>>
>>7694127
I think the issue comes from people trying to game the market and driving to a number of Walmart’s and stuff to buy up all the rare figures. This screws the actual customers.
That’s why people view it as unethical. Personally, I don’t have an issue, as I can be patient waiting for that one figure to pop up for cheap somewhere, so unless you’re looking for 90’s Rogue, Hobgoblin, Mysterio, or the Thing, just save a little, join a FB group, or wait for a rerelease. Nothing wrong with buying a new hard-to-find figure and trading for a rare one.
>>
>>7694111
The retards. Without them there are no scalpers.
>>
>>7691515

>>7694155

>>
>>7694155
What's the point of posting this?

The people who post these things don't get any joy out of the threads they enter, it's not a good way to spend ones time and the people who do so are incels.

Attention? If so why not just kill oneself?

>>
>>7694127
>If people are willing to pay the high price, that's on them
sure but that doesn't make it any less unethical. You're basically exploiting other people's "love" for a product by offering it to them for four times the amount that you paid yourself. Hardcore scalpers also deprive people from the ability to buy their favourite figures by buying the same figure a shitton of times just because they want to make money. You can say that hardcore scalpers are literally tampering with the market

I didn't buy a painted one. His paintjobs are not good enough to pay like 60 bucks for. But if he cast it in blue all you have to do is the eyes teeth and drybrush some black into his hair but Anthony is a retard. Or he's a greedy dick trying to do as much as he can to make people pay for his shit paintjob. which is still retarded because its just more work he has to do.

He's charging more for his time most likely, and getting into the buying custom figure parts is expensive for anything that's a uniquely casted part (in the west anyway). Anyone who considers themselves skilled labor in the US is going to want more than $15 an hour for their work and judging from how high end some of his setup is I have to imagine he can justify/routinely gets expensive commissions.
>>
>>7695585
The old Toy Biz one is still decent. There were tons released and rereleased for Spider-Man 2 as well, a lot of those were very good. Particularly the Super Poseable one and the magnetic ones (yes, there were a few).
There's a Revoltech but I wouldn't recommend it for its stupid proportions.
Also Hot Toys but that kind of just doesn't count.

Depends if anyone sees it. At my local store the manager actually tossed a guy out, like physically grabbed him by the collar and threw him into the parking lot for trying to snatch something out of the kids mits. >>
>>7695923

Okay, but I know they're new, they're just now shipping

"WELL WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR THEM TO BE PUT ON THE FLOOR WE JUST DON'T HAVE ANY OTHER WAY WE DON'T KNOW"

FFS. Retailers shouldn't have this much red tape over toys that'll just get mangled and refunded with swapped shit and Hasbro should make some more goddamn toys. Holy shit they have so many money printers, I don't understand why Mysterio, Storm, Rogue, all these ones getting scalped aren't just on Pulse made to order. Jesus Christ, Storm is a popular/iconic character, she's not Finn, she's not just some two-dimensional diversity checkmark, she's not gonna be a shelfwarmer. More brick and mortar sadness blog.
My local walmart has 20 units of 80th anniversary cap in stock this morning. After work I checked that only 8 are left, so I thought they finally reset the pegs and he'll be on the shelf. I went to the walmart and realized that the 80th anniversary stuff is only on pallet, out in the open not yet on the pegs. I can see the cardboard boxes labeled MARVEL 80TH ANNIVERSARY. They must be trying to set up the pegs for the weekend and a nice employee earlier in the day must have helped out some brickseek people to pull the captain america and other 80th anniversary stuff early. But then when I ask the employee, some 80 years old guy (must have been the night shift guy) he say NAH and come back tomorrow when shit is on the pegs.

Retail exclusive is a mistake. I don't blame the old guy, he's just a minimum wage worker. But at least let us order a pickup online rather than having this asinine distribution system

Well, it's a large part of why no one cares that they're being paid poverty wages and retail as a whole is dying, they don't want to do their jobs and with the time/gas money saved a $10-$15 scalper tax is pretty worth it.

But then I can afford it, I decided in my twenties that making a living on minimum wage sucked so I spent my time working hard and developing skills so I don't have to be some diseased uninsured cadaver just occupying a job that doesn't even get done.

There's literally two Legends Rogue figures in the line's nearly 20 years and both are impossible to get for under $100. They *just now* put out a Storm and repeated the same mistakes, one per case and then they'll only ship out one case of 8 figures to one store ever and call it a day. Stop defending them, they're objectively retarded.
>>
>>7697141
Where did you get your Dark Phoenix pls? She is overpriced now.
I want to bash my head against the wall. Why can't they deliver a decent Dark Phoenix in a single package available for everyone with no exclusive BS?

>>
>>7697213
>they'll only ship out one case of 8 figures to one store ever and call it a day.
They ship what's ordered.

You sound retarded. Hasbro does a lot of dumb shit, but flooding the block with Rogue figures for latecomers would be a terrible idea.
>>
>>7697226

You're right, they should put out a line that's entirely Wolverine themed two years after there's any Wolverine standalone movies. Not like retro/Jim Lee/retro-styled stuff has any kind of interest or market...
>>
>>7697226
>but flooding the block with Rogue figures for latecomers would be a terrible idea
Just reissue an 8pack full of rogues and ship it to hobby retailers like Gamestop, Dorkside, EE, BBTS, sell it on Pulse. Instant money. Hell even charge 25 bucks like the 80th anniversary figure
>>
>>7697233

That's another thing, they have Pulse. They have their own goddamn store. They don't need this "beholden to normies case arrangement" nonsense. Just make shit people want/make it available without having to waste the consumer's time trying to get retail slaves to do the bare minimum of their jobs.
>>
>>7697222
I actually got the 2 pack for 60 bucks on ebay back when it was released. I took a hit knowing how bad toysrus was and I never saw it in store anyways. I feel your pain though, I was collecting when hasbro only cared about marvel universe and every legend was overpriced on the aftermarket.
>>

>>
>>7697258

>He's popular but there's always some variant of him from two or three waves back that's still shelfwarming.
I'd like to visit this alternate reality. Other than Old Man Logan (and that whole wave once those later shipments popped up way later), I've yet to see a Wolverine hang around for long.
>>
>>7697240
My biggest issue with them has been the mcu stuff clogging the shelves and never going away. The 10 year stuff cluttered my walmart for over a year. I hate that I ever bought mcu shit knowing that they do redos now that are better and movie accurate.
>>
>>7697272
Yeah I havent seen him shelfwarm since the jubilee wave.
>>
>>7697272

Point is, if they can have 40+ variants of Logan, they can have a few reliable shots during the year to get a Jim Lee Storm/Rogue. Pretty sure those are more popular designs than Old Man Logan and there's been what, 3 ways to get that specific incarnation alone?
>>
>>7697060
This picture is actually kind of amazing. Especially in thumbnail form, it has just the right level of off-center vibration to where it gives a weird magic eye effect and reminds me of stuff like those bookmarks or watches with a picture where you'd look at it from different angles and get a 3D image.

>>7697165
Basically this. Walmart back rooms can vary on a day to day basis from orderly and empty, to basically a Mad Max insane future where new merch might have been buried under a bunch of fucking overstock on a random pallet and nobody has any time to tell anyone fucking anything or sort anything.

>>7697189

Now this I'll take issue with. You might be right for certain stores, or sometimes even during certain years or varying from month to month. Some stores legit might have a problem with just having too many employees on some shift because it's a sinking ship and they're basically trying to offset a laziness problem by throwing bodies at it, and then in other stores or shifts they have basically fucking nobody, and the only reason the entire operation hasn't burned down is because some actual hard workers are burning the candle at both ends, and managers or DMs can never seem to figure out how to strike a balance.

And in a general sense when it comes to customers asking someone for help, it's definitely possible that you'll run into lazy idiots, but you can't always tell, and even overnight sometimes you'll think there's no rush but the employee you're asking might be literally the only person trying to get a three-person task done, and sometimes they'll weigh trying to do customer support on a potential or actually obvious fool's errand vs. getting yelled at by a power-tripping soccer mom manager in the morning who just thinks they're lazy.
>>
>>7697272
Weirdly enough, I still see an Apocalypse wave Wolverine at one of my stores. There's also a few of them at scalper prices at a comic store across the city that have done the equivalent of shelfwarming.

>>7697222
>Why don't they do it now? It's the perfect timing with the new movie...

I don't think Marvel had any faith in that movie, nor did anyone else, and it just kind of came out to die. I thought it was okay, but that's looking at it through the optimistic lense that at least this time they did a Dark Pheonix event where Jean was even a fucking relevant character and Cyclops didn't die basically offscreen.

Hey now, keeping toys zoned correctly is a 8 hour job in itself sometimes. kids knock everything over and shuffle boxes around, and fucking lazy adult collectors take everything off the pegs, look at them, and leave them there on the shelf. they also fuck up the collector cars constantly, I've never seen a area get messed up faster than cars.
>>
Scalping is pretty much just an opportunity cost. You're already invested in the hobby. I bought 2 Cap on the pegs, pick the one with better paint, and sold one on ebay for 45 bucks. So essentially I got my Cap for 5 bucks. It is dumb to prowl your local store, but when the opportunity arises only dummies and moralfags don't scalp
>>
>>7697390
Fucking Hotwheels, I don't envy anyone who has to keep that area straight on a regular basis, toys is already a nightmare in general but those in particular look like the aftermath of post-apocalyptic looting half the time. And if you're not SUPER fucking familiar with all the lines and what goes where(and god knows eyeballing the UPCs won't help at all), then it can take forever to get things back into their actual places and pegs. And heaven help you if your manager doesn't get that at all.

The biggest problem with those guns is the grip and lack of trigger guard to help keep it in the hand. I cut off the grips of two I had, used the ones from the hairdryer gun Chameleon and Noir came with. Modified them a little more in order to try and make the guns Sable used in the PS4 game. Contemplating getting a cast of the TRU Jubilee coat and maybe the arms from the Retro Dazzler to give her a look similar to the PS4 version.

Comic captain marvel (from Odin wave) is on the Moonstone body, which includes Moonstone, Scream, 90’s Rogue, Comic Gamora, Comic Hela, Lady Thor, etc. Lots of people prefer this mold because it was before Hasbro decided every woman can be on the same mold.

Dunno who the most common mold started with, but I believe it was Silk/Spider Bitch in the Space Venom Wave. This is the mold used for Silver Sable here, as well as 80’s Dazzler, Boom Boom, Invisible Woman, Phoenix, parts of Psylocke, Mystique, and just about every other female character you can think of. It’s not awful but they’ve made good elbows and hips to modify it, like on Psylocke, but they refuse to use them often. So characters like Boom Boom has shitty “less than 90 degree” elbows while Psylocke has “greater than 120 degree” elbows.

I’m assuming you’re talking about the Walmart one on the Bucky body with the cape. Personally, the cape alone makes the figure. He has that, the traditional Batman type ears that make him look classic, a decent necklace, and a spear to boot. Plus his standard claw hands that are specific to him and King Cobra.

The Retro one is more accurately described as a non-pink modern one. It’s the same figure as the pink panther, but the shiny black plastic makes it look decent. It’s on the Spider UK body so he’s a little buffer too, and he has fists and Prowler claws, whereas the other one has claws and spear holding hands. The Retro one also has a (better) necklace, and white flame effects for fast punching I guess?

Overall, I’d get the one with the cape. His accessories push him into 1st place for me. The retro one isn’t bad but it wasn’t the classic look I was going for. He looks more similar to Donny Cates’ look from the comic.

>>7697278
The most popular Rogue or Storm is comparable to a lower-tier wolverine design in popularity unfortunately. I think they had a great opportunity to rerelease her in a vintage wave, but instead they released all-new characters or designs.

>>7698069
I’d get one if they fixed the paint on her face, or just made a new face entirely. Maybe fixed the hair.

>>7697570
I’d buy a PS4 Sable. Or a PS4 Cat. There’s hope, with more Gamerverse stuff coming out in the next wave. Kinda crazy to me that they decided to capitalize on the game more and just ignore the Spiderverse movie entirely.
>>
>>7698153
>Kinda crazy to me that they decided to capitalize on the game more and just ignore the Spiderverse movie entirely.
I think part of it is that the Spiderverse movie has very stylized character designs and the other is that they've made all the characters already in some form. Not the exact ones in the movie but still the same characters.
>>
>>7698122

>and just ignore the Spiderverse movie entirely.
They did a Miles and Gwen 2-pack for the movie.
And them doing a wave with Noir, Spider-Ham, and SP//DR as the BAF was not a coincidence.
Tombstone is also still a fairly common peg warmer. They did Prowler and Kingpin.
There's not much else they could do from the movie aside from female Ock, who has no cache at all, especially with that version.
>>
>>7698943
Spider-Ham was in the Venom wave.
>>
>>7698946
The point is, they made figures of half the characters in the movie within 12 months of the movie being out, which to me wouldn't seem like they ignored the film completely.
>>
>>7698556
I've got the Infinity Gauntlet, neat little thing.
>>
>>7698950
I would’ve appreciated some accurate figures for the movie though. Ham having a hammer, SPDR having a Peni of some kind considering it’s the comic version, Noir having a hat, some version of Peter Miles or Gwen with accurate head sculpts, etc. maybe “ignored completely” was incorrect but I would love more attention to the film in the future, similar to how the 10th anniversary sets remade early film characters.

Did anyone at SDCC ask any Hasbro people why they did Cannonball the way they did him? I still don't really get why they went with the effect piece instead of legs. It's a cool idea, I guess, but it's just such a weird choice
>>
>>7699225
I saw the entire wendigo wave on the pegs this morning at wally world. Already had nightcrawler, and that's all I wanted. Sinister looks okay, but he's 90s bs, so I don't care about him.
>>
>>7699264
>everyone says they want more effects pieces
>release a figure that half of his body is an effects piece
I'd mark it up to Hasbro just doing some dopey shit. I can't imagine anyone actually wanted Cannonball this way, especially since he's typically not depicted blasting vertically. I appreciate Jasbro trying new things but maybe don't try new things if they take away from what's traditionally good.
People complain about the recent Hydro Man too and that they wish he had regular arms, but at least that figure has both arms and legs. If they had wanted to they could have just molded that Cannonball effects piece in translucent blue for him and called it a day and I'm so glad they didn't.
>>
>>7699349
>Sinister looks okay, but he's 90s bs
Fuck off lil zoomie
>>
>>7699351
I feel like if they had cared just a bit more, he'd have been in a wave where they could have afforded to give him both legs and the effect piece instead of a BAF piece. Maybe make his legs detachable in BAF manner and then you just slide his butt into the blast effect if you want.

I'm still waiting to see if anyone else mods their Cannonball to have legs to see if it's something I might be able to try myself.

They’re trying to recreate the cover of X-Force #1, so when it came down to legs or blast, they picked blast.

>>7699351
>>7699384
If you watch Robo’s review on TheFwoosh, he removed the blast effect and there’s a peg in there instead of the normal kind that keeps the butt bolted to the abs. It looks like it’s designed to be removable and have legs to put on there, maybe in a future release, but it’s something. Wouldn’t be hard to mod, except all the legs you could put on him won’t have the right size peg hole in the hips. His video talks about it a little.
>>
>>7699393
>They’re trying to recreate the cover of X-Force #1, so when it came down to legs or blast, they picked blast.
What's so frustrating about it is that the effects piece could easily have been a clip together thing that goes around a set of regular legs, or a swap out piece.
But I guess they Liefelded it so they didn't have to make his feet.

This is one of the worst re-designs in Marvel history.
>>
>>7699468
It happened in Slott's run, so of course it was.
>>
>>7699468
There are infinitely worse redesigns in Marvel history than this one, although I can get that it's definitely not great. I actually think the new outfit is kind of neat, but definitely suffers from the problem of this era/MCU influence of just making outfits all-black for cool or "realism" reasons. Maybe Black Cat's almost the character that could get away with that because it's in her name and she's a catburglar, but it's still not great and the white gave it a nice iconic touch.

My main complaint here is still that the old head being obviously superior, and also from a time when they weren't desperately afraid to give characters bangs.
>>
>>7699508
There's obviously worse looking ones, like troglodyte Wolverine or when Wasp became an insectoid bug bitch, but it's more what it represents and the fact that the classic Black Cat costume was a timeless 10/10 from debut that requires no redesign whatsoever.

Even though she's a rip-off of Catwoman and a less interesting character overall, she always looked way cooler and this new version looks generic as fuck on top of being less sexy, which was always a significant thing for the character.
>>
>>7699510
You're actually right, and I think I take back some of my halfhearted defense of it.
>>
Stopped at Wally World on my way to work this morning. The rumors are true, I guess she is only just now being put out in droves. The one I stopped at had at least 18 available. I don't really collect movie figures outside of a few exceptions, but do i ever like the fire effects. I'll grab one if she sticks around long enough to be clearance, I'm always up for new effects I can use with my Human Torch and other fiery comic characters.
>>
>>7699468
>>7699510
The worst part is the figure didn’t even get the outfit right. With a decent headsculpt and more accuracy to the comic, it wouldn’t be awful.

That being said, black cat PS4 is a great example of how to cover up more without losing the sex appeal. A little less tech-y and it would be the perfect redesign imo.
