Monster toys....this is a thread for nondescript monster toys, aka not big names like Godzilla or Alien or things like that, but just general monsters

Monster In My Pocket is what I start with.
I also have an ulterior motive here, I remember a toy I had as a kid (circa early 90's) that I believe was part of a collection of various monsterous beasts, however the one I'm having foggy yet striking flashbacks too in particular was something of a demonic Unicorn, I faintly recall an angry horse face with one horn and an overall demonic looking visage, may have had bat wings as well.
>>
>>7656855
I remember having the mexican monstruos de bolsillo sonrics bigfoot.
I kinda want to start collecting generic monsters, kaiju keshi, and stuff like creature from the black lagoon.
>>
>>7656855
fucking monster in my pocket. back in the day, all the stores only had the packs low level shitters like the witch, the ghoul or the winged panther.
I wanted the Not-Godzilla figure so badly.

I didn't know about Monster in my Pocket till more recently. Were theey in stores around the 80s? I would have thought I'd see them in KB Toys or something as a kid.
In Japan they had a line called Neclos Fortress that is similar to Monster in my Pocket. Personally I was really into Mighty Max. I always keep my eyes peeled for cool monster minifigures in vending machines at stores.
>>
>>7657408
In America they were a KB Toys thing. We got series 1-2 and 4 but not 3. You could get a mail-in premium figure by saving up Spaghetti-O's labels and also a series 3 figure by buying the NES game.

This cartoon really annoyed me because the comic tie in was so much more fun. The only plus this piece of shit had was the cute daughter character who ran around with the monsters. Everything else was stupid, worst of all being that cock sucking werewolf.

>>

Holy FUCKING SHIT, OP.

I fucking love you right now.

I had a bunch of these when I was a kid that I got from boxes of Kelloggs Frosties. I remembered the designs and the colors, but I could not for the life of me remember the name. I've been experimenting with mold making and casting, and for quite a while I've been thinking 'Man, I wish I had those eye-searingly bright but really detailed little rubber monsters I had when I was a kid'.

Thanks big time, now I know exactly what to look for.

>>

My brother and I had a bunch of these. We tried to collect the entire collection, but never did. Weird toys like these often popped up in the 90's every few weeks it seemed, and then were gone.

I still have somewhere Fuminoid, Trasher, Stink Buzzard, and Junker from that photo.

>>
>>7657405
Thats cool.
The 80/90 it was hard to know what monsters exist, but today with internet, you could make nearly endless monster characters.
Cool someone expands the mimp mythos.

I remember i liked to army build it and draw boardgames on paper.

Seeing how trashbag monsters and bag collectibles still sell, i wonder that mimp never relaunched in thus format. The 2000s relaunch doesnt count, that was more action figures and too expensive.

Thoughts? It seems the creator of the line is trying to bring MIMP back.
>>
>>7700112
Sounds interesting. But would it be an reboot or repacking?
They should be kept easy and simple to attract kids and make armybuilds not that expensive. These >>7689674 >>7691796 proved that more complex mold and paint aps shouldnt be the main line. I think that even the original had some big figures that sold poorly.
If its a reboot, they should avoid the point creeps and thin really about minor, horde monsters should be low points.
>>
>>7700112
>>7700273

I think there are a ton of far east, african or wetsren monsters untapped too. But they need to look different and interesting enough. Many have snake or brntosaur like monsters. So it doesnt make sense to have the same monsters over and over again.
The pocket monsters, see pokemon, still is a thing that kids and adults like. If they are small and not too expensive should be a sure hit.

>>7701334
Considering that pocket figures exist, it should be at least for 2-3 waves profitable.

Nice idea. But arn`t Toys to life dead since 2 years?
I think if we would need a game first. If we get a game, do we really need toys for it and isnt digital microtransaction better than?
But we want physical little rubber monsters.
So i would try and sell McDonalds or other groccery company an options to coorporate with them and they can put some monsters into their Toybox-meal.
See how good grocery gang, lego minifugures or animal figures in blindbags go.

id say a bit of all of the above. the sculpts and being fully colored is fine but making them too big and action figure like with lots of accessories and sort of expensive just to buy a few of em just doesnt have the appeal of little collectable monster packs. Thats the draw here, that they are tiny little monsters you can have a ton of and collect.

Yeah, they were common prizes on fairs too.
Dont know if they still produced or if dinosaurs filled their place in small plastic monsters.

Thats a really cool line. So was it released before Monster in my pocket or after? Both series, besides color, fit really well.
>>
>>7662124
hey would you mind sharing where you got that shelf? it's perfect!
>>
>>7723030
really like the cultist and deep one
>>
>>7724676
Neclos Fortress is slightly smaller and more D&D style. They sculpting is more classic tabletop.
>>
There's several Etsy pages selling MIMP figures. Lets you choose your figure and the color from what's available. I just got a Tengu and some others.
>>
>>7725159
Based, i have two of the deep one
>>
>>7725650
A pity they're so expensive though. The whole point of toys like these is that you can get a bunch of them for a reasonable price.
>>
>>7725739
I saw them too. Are they recasted ones?

>>7725798
Yeah, guess because they had 320 sculpts and were japan exclusives made them rare on the average. I wonder if the molds for casting still exist.
And funny how popular D&D was in japan in the 80's.

Blessed and holobased anon, i have the burnheart one.
Found out about these after getting into motu and always loved the packaging and crazy themes. The batbopper is goat vehicledesign too.

Here's some burnheart fanart i drew, for you anon.

>>
>>7727130
And than the pig orcs came back to the west through rpgs and video games.
>>
>>7727266
>Mothman
He isnt directly connected with ufos.
>Men in Black
Arnt they humans and a anti-alien task force? Maybe i think too much of the movies?
>>
>>7727805
Sometimes they are described as government agents but there are also sightings where something is not quite right, or not quite human.
>>
>>7726895

i love the references you got going on, actual alien encounters and sci-fi movie stuff. is bodysnatcher suppose to be "the thing" cause that should be on here. also moth man is sometimes an "alien" so i'd add him and i'd say "men in black" would be good too.
>>
>>7727130
>buy those
Thx

>>7728056
Thx. Yes, the bodysnatcher is supposed the thing. I couldnt come up with a different name. But to avoid the real movie i used pod people for the bodysnatcher alien "plants".
After using him here >>7700273 , i thought i use the french version of him. The same reason i used roswell aliens than greys.

>>7727992
Ok, i only remember them to be goverment agents.
>>
>>7728167

I mean Mothman

Welp, my conjured cthulhu came today. Now i finally have all the figures from legends of cthulhu. Will take pics of the others if anyones interested.?

i have older ones too from japan, some are solid slightly bendy plastic and very heavy, both ultramen and kaiju
Some are hollow and can be used as fingerpuppets, i sadly can't find them anywhere now. But they were really great, my father had art connections in Japan and used to bring them with him and my mom bought them from a local import store in the 90s. Hell, i had a Pikachu figure before we even knew what it was here. (it was pcool for a four year old when your parents metaphoricaly worked for nintendo, i never bragged though)

>>7719141
Oh yeah, never got into them as i was a little older and didn't like the more modern shaping, but Gormitti was HUGE in Italy whenever i stopped by on yearly vacation for years.

>>7719809
What is the silver one? Looks neat.

Anyone got into O.M.F.G.?
The name is awful, but i got a rotofugi blue series two since Puke Knight was the cutest thing. I think the site Toybreak no longer exists and i only got into it thanks to this toyline wich I submitted an entry to (Wasn't Shirtle from a 4chan guy?). But looking back that truly was one of the coolest fan projects to just get together and actually make toys from different people.
I'll have to take some pics when it's daylight.

Looked cool, but i prefer based on myth and tales monster.
It seems they did 4 waves and the companie renamed itself? Or closed and the founder made a new one.
>>
>>7729394
George Gaspar used the contest scam to generate designs for him to profit from, then shut down the company when people started getting smart about it.
>>
>>7688227
Wow, thats a blast from the past. I had the mummy one. They are, to this day, some of the best holograms I've seen, they had excellent depth and detail for an otherwise fairly mediocre figure.
>>
>>7729412
But its easy to create monsters. Thats kinda sad that someone relied on others sculptures.
>>
>>7729132
I had one as a kid, no telling what happened to it but it was pretty great. I've seen some similar looking toys more recently but I don't know how well they stack up.
>>
>>7729412
huh, wasn't that the plan all along?
Or did he strike up with all the moneys that others didn't know off? Kinda shitty if based Puke Knight creator got scammed. Any links towards info on that?

I thought it died after wave 3 but it's been a long time ago. I think they also did a zombie one at one point.

Mothman is very much connected to ufo activity. And men in black are a paranormal entity that mimic the look of government agents. Source: The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel, the most sublime book of forteana ever written.

I remember reading it once, it's more of a novel of the author's investigations than a novel of the exact events. The author also provides his own theories and whatnot.

I guess it's like black and white line work vs. the colored drawing.

If you aren't really good at the painting, you end up losing details of the piece.

Also I never got those waves in my area.
