Old one has reached image limit, so lets get another one rolling! I'll start with some I took today.
>>7639422Can't decide which of these two is the better one. Thoughts?
>>7639220>Did you make that?Yeah. It started as this
>>7639488The foliage you made is wonderful. I'm guessing HO railroad scale for the couple and bench?
Don't know what to think of this.
>>7639568Focus could be better but over all I like it.
>>7639398Watch out OP or else someone might report you for posting a statue
>>7639398>to>>7639440These are all great.>>7639568The subject (Samus) doesn't draw the focus of the eye. That's probably what's throwing you off on it.But here's a similarly framed shot I've done cuz yours reminded me of it.
>>7639681>These are all greatThanks anon, I appreciate it. How would you improve the photos? I'm always looking to improve. On a side note, what is the figure holding the gun?
>>7639681>>7639754>what is the figure holding the gun?Whatever it is it reminds me of a cosplay mashup of a Mandalorian and Spawn
>>7639754>>7639759> How would you improve the photos? I'm always looking to improve.just light them up a bit. But really they're pretty good. You have a good eye for composition and framing. .. maybe use more figures in the photos, but then you'll be opening yourself up to proper blocking, which could make or break the shots.>On a side note, what is the figure holding the gun?Rohlan Dyre from the Entertainment Earth exclusive 2-pack. I ... don't have any other shots of him.
>>7639433Nice shot, has the feeling of a place that can be one hell of a battle, knee deep in water, ambushed by enemies, a deadly crossing
>>7639547Thank you. Yeah woodland scenics HO figures.
>>7640215Thanks anon, I'm glad my photo was able to evoke that kind of imagery.
>>7639904I appreciate the feedback, I'll bear it in mind when I take my next photos. Love your photo by the way, especially how well the scenery works with the figure. Apologies for bothering you again, but how did you create the glowing effect on the lightsaber?
>>7640997Yeah just something about it sparked my imagination, I imagined like an epic crossing, an ambush, soldiers desperate to fight back but also to get out of the water, chaos and confusion, mg fire from hidden positions on the tree roots raking the waterI got a similar feeling from this pic I saved from these threads too
>>7641015Theres just something about figures interacting so fully with the nature/scenery/water around them that I love, probably cause I will never and can never do any toy photography outdoors myself I guessBut oh man if I could..
>>7639575Thank you!>>7639681Guess you're right. The white hot background really takes away the attention
>>7641025This is great!
>>7641025Come on! We’re taking this position!
Any feedback on this one?
>>7641436FOR THE EMPIRE
>>7641436Normally dont care too much about starwars photos but these are great. I should be going out to take photos soon. My mother in law has a huge property with woods and I'm going there. I have not done photos there in years.
>>7641460Not much negative to say. Its just really good. I like the overall composition especially.
>>7641460I like it.
>>7639904This Vos photo is sick sick sick.
>>7641579>>7641680>>7641727Thanks guys. I wasn’t feeling it.
>>7641039You had a series of MG pics didn’t you? I like this one. Looks right out of the game.
>>7639681I had no idea they made this guy. They even made Yasmin Isard, Montrass, & Jaster Mereel?!I'm not even bothering seeing how much they are on ebay.
>>7641935Thanks man!And yup, half my library is Metal Gear basically.
Is this me?
>>7642329Are you sure this is me?
>>7639488Just for future creativity reasons does anyone know the name of these? I've gogul but I've only got glass display cases and smaller box displays
>>7641460Just that he doesn't look like he's looking at his target. Nudge his head a little to the right of the photo so he's looking at who he's sneaking up on.Unless I completely misread what he's doing.
Not too sure on this one. I like the way it turned out but I'm not sure if it conveys they idea I was going for.
>>7642341Pretty sure its this: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/glass-cloche-with-wooden-base-10cm-x-135cm/635595-1000>>7641460Pretty much what >>7642456 said. I couldn't tell straight away what was happening, it took me a few seconds for it to click. Maybe move him further back as well? I can't think why he would suddenly rush into the room and expose himself.
>>7642465TUrn the headphones to the right and add a little more light to him. The headphone he's listening to should be parallel nearly to the "ear" he's listening with and the shadow on his head doesn't let the eye draw right up to the real point of your photo. Also, I really like the concept of that photo. Maybe add a snack on a plate next to him.
>>7642470>I can't think why he would suddenly rush into the room and expose himself. He's sneaking in and can do so because the snipers are too engaged in spotting targets. The idea, I think, is he has walked in quietly so his proximity to his targets is appropriate.Looking at it again his gun should be angled down more.
>>7642550Looking at it some more I retract the lighting comment. I think just repositioning the headphones would be best.
>>7642248Do you have IG? I’d like to see more of your stuff.
>>7642602yeah i have. same name: Articulated.Snake. thanks m8
>>7642456>>7642470>>7642553Thanks anons. I agree with the head and gun angle being a bit off. These figs are so small I try to pay special attention to posing, but that one slipped.
Just watched Predator last night.
>>7642899Your snipers and set design were spot on. Not that you are ; but don't beat yourself up, you rarely ask for feedback but you did on this one because you knew something was off.>>7642923Criminey!Is that a real transformer? I just recently bought one form a news agent shop that looks incredibly similar.I know mine is Chinese junk but is there a legitimate one? He came with truck doors like yours and the wheels seem to be in the same place. Also, I really like that photo. The foliage is beautiful and your posing is nicely framed by the natural background.
>>7642992Just a few quick cell shots, this is interesting to me to see if they copied an actual Transformer.
>>7642992>Is that a real transformer?Yeah "Universe Prowl", he turns into a police car, he was released back in 2008, these 2 are customs tho, I changed their heads.
>>7643028Thank you, checking them out.You have a wonderful sense of composition and posing.
>>7643035Thanks, these characters got new figures this year, (thats where the head on the photo came), google them as "siege prowl" and "siege silverstreak", you can find them on amazon or your local retailers, they're a bit smaller but way easier to find.
>>7642923>>7642925Nice! Just saw your pics and they inspired me to do something Predator too. That would be a cool thread theme.(1/2)
>>7643310I'd imagine this is when they are walking to meditate by the fire and you can see the strain on Raph from thinking about his possibly fallen mentor.
>>7641460>>7642899>>7643086>>7643089am i right in thinking these are megablok figures? the articulation areas look similar
>>7643397You’re right. They’re call of duty mega construx figures.
Finally got some more outdoor shots.
>>7644034>laserbeak eject, operation kill good vibes.
>>7644038>cant kill my good vibes soundwave my man.
>>7641004No problem. It's a really old photo. I did the effect on photoshop by creating a glow effect. In hindsight, I'd make it look differently if I were to do it today.>>7642190yeah they were pretty presonably priced back in the day.>>7641753hey thanks!>>7641460I like it. Angle's good. Maybe it could use a bit more contrast in the lighting. It's a little flat. But it's a good shot over all.>>7642465what were you trying to convey. I like the shot, but the headphones definitely take the focus. Not sure if that's your intention.>>7642923>>7643086Predator is a good movie for some inspiration.>>7643310Really like this shot. ... I really need to take my turtles out of their box. Here's another older shot.
>>7642923One of Arnie’s top 3, easily
>>7645618I need a modern Spirit
>>7639398this is such a cool shot OP
I'll contribute another since I've been a bit more active on these threads lately.
>>7639433I love this one
Damn, this is such a good thread. Thanks OP.
Haven't dabbled in toy photos all that much but I did this today and thought it was alright
>>7642465I think the composition works but the problem is your lightsource is throwing shadow on your subject.put the lightsource from above and a bit north of your lens so you/your camera don't throw a shadow.
>>7647206also would recommend a lighter background than that dark wood to contrast with the black headphones: grey short-nap carpet, a light-colored towel, plain t-shirt, etc
>>7646606I'm big on set design and small detail. You put a lot of thought and love into this diorama as well as the love you put into the shot.I really like it.
>>7644822You got one with Connor Kenway?
>>7641436So simple and yet so amazing.
>>7648035 #Gotchu covered senpaiI'm not too sure about this shot though, i think the house in the background is too small to really sell the illusion.
>>7648100A bit bland but I'll take it.
>>7648100Well a good woodsy background works for the guy. Heck, snow on a rock would be perfect too.
Went to a ghost town trail in Washington. there was a mossy concrete structure thats good for photos.
Trying to improve so feedback is appreciated
>>7648534Do you have figma Red?How's he?
>>7649050Usually the only thing you need to worry about Photo threads is having a super sweet background and good camera focus. Try to let your imagination run free and see what kind of interesting poses you can conjure up with your toys.
>>7649057Yup, and i just realized i have barely any photos of him. He's great. But you wouldn't have much options anyway if you're not a nendoroid guy.
somthing of mine
>>7639398>>7639407>>7639410>>7639416>>7639422>>7639425>>7639433There's something about the simplicity of these that make them absolutely standout. Those plastic army figurines are great for sets.
>>7648113This is lovely
>>7649050The hard light works really well with that figure, I love the excessive shadowing. I think the posing could be a little bit better and the background could be improved. I recommend, once a figure has been set up, to take photos from a variety of different angles - you may catch a lovely angle that you never thought of.>>7650199Cheers mate, and I do find that army men are great for taking photos. They're easy to carry and set up, you don't have to worry about posing them, and their small size means even a small area can become a massive battlefield.
>>7649050is this the comeback of transformer-in-front-of-bland-background-Anon?
>>7649058>>7650457Thanks anons, here's another one I quite like, but the focus didn't like the Titan Masters
>>7651405You posted this a while ago
>>7648151files were too large so heres a imgur linkRest of them https://imgur.com/gallery/PUj915Q
I really liked the skeleton guy after picking him up at Walgreens, so I grabbed Wildcard. I've never played the game, but I love well articulated figures and even though the coat piece hinders articulation a little bit, he's really fun to pose still.
Good stuff. I really liked the Halo line and how well those posted too, so I'm glad this line is continuing that tradition. Plus, this is definitely one of the best articulated suited bodies in this scale.
>>7649123Simple, but i like it.
>>7655160>>7655161>>7655174Thanks for the posed pictures. Someone recommended in a thread a while back these guys would make a good bank robbing gang if you bought four since it has four different heads but I wasn't sure how articulated it was.I think I will pick a couple up.
>>7655174whats the figure on the right? Really love how he looks.
>>7656446not the anon who took the pics. But I think thats a WWE IRS figure with a Marvel cross bones head.
I wish hoihoi's got more love
Here's my contribution since the Guyver 1/12 thread is dead.
Alright I got some more.
>>7661913>you're an idot starscream.
>>7661904I dont know anything about transformers, but this is such a great wholesome shot. It really makes for a great wallpaper even. Great work.
PC monitors are fun as backdrops>>7642550>>7642555Thanks, I honestly didn't even consider the pose that much in this, I may have to reshoot this one. >Maybe add a snack on a plate next to himGood idea, I'll look into some accessories for him for future shenanigans >>7647206>put the lightsouce from above and a bit north of your lenseUnfortunately, it was just natural light on an overcast day coming through my window, is there any lighting options you can recommend?
>>7663789>PC monitors are fun as backdropsThey open up so many options for pics. I’m actually looking into getting a bigger monitor for better backgrounds.Nice shot by the way. I like the heavy shadows.
>>7663789>>7663799even though i like to use them as backdrops from time to time, i feel like its less of an art that way, since the backdrop is basically an art of and in itself.its like taking a selfie in front of the mona lisa and handling it as if its my work.
>>7664479I understand what you’re saying, using a preset backdrop is “cheating”.I disagree, though. The most important part to me is the end product, so using the necessary means within photography to reach it is fair game. Funnily enough, I feel like you do but with photoshop. A bit of editing is fine, but the moment you start adding and removing items (not stands, but other figures and backdrops) it looses it’s toy photography charm.
>>7664839What if i JUST take a Photo of a Painting? Is the Photo itself Art, or is the Drawing the Art?
>>7664891That’s appropriation art. It goes deeper, where you can take a picture of a picture, same frame and everything, where your picture is indistinguishable from the original picture and the picture of the picture will be considered art. It has happened before. If we start getting into definitions of what’s art and what isn’t we won’t reach a consensus. Anyway, here’s a couple soldiers crossing a puddle. The light came out weird, the whites too whites and the darks too darks. Any feedback?
>>7664982Couldn’t decide on one(2/3)
>>7665007I like this one more.
>>7664982All of them are great but this is my favorite
What are some of your instagrams? I'd love more to follow.
75182 on patrol in Naboo swamp lands hunting down clankers
Alternate build 75812 on patrol on the highway of death on MX-801 during the clone wars , note the reprogrammed B-1 battle driods
>>7639398>>7639407>>7639433Where's this figure from OP?
>>7667084Silver Samurai is looking fun. I kinda want him to go with my Mezco RoninI love the new Scorpion so much!
Just got this guy.
>>7669795Is he kinda big or kinda small? I am so unfamiliar with the new scale
Realized I haven't taken many pics of my Judge Dredd, so I snapped this earlier today
He is so so so good
>>7669795He looks really good. I cant wait to get one.
>>7673978What figure is that?
>>7673775I can't think of an appropriate insult.
>>7674310What figure is Hellboy holding?
>>7674398Thank you, anon
Took Siege Soundwave to the garden.
>>7674650We instaled a screen over it, so now sunlight gets filtered, taking photos got a lot easier.
>>7674018Action in Metal Casshern Sins + Friender by icarusToys
don't know if it has been mentioned, but Anna Faris's IG has been full of her Barbie photography
>>7670696Die, commie plebbitor.
>>7676808what did he mean by this?
>>7676808>plebbitorHave you seen my pictures while browsing Reddit?>>7676837This is fucking gorgeous! I want to see MORE.
>>7676837Excellent work, anon.
>>7667334Sorry to get back so late, anon. It's just a generic toy soldier, though I've no idea where from as I was given them OOP from a family friend years ago. If it helps, he is made of a flexible, rubbery material and seems to be roughly based off a WW2 German.
>>7676837Light and color wise it's good, but It lacks balance and It's too cluttered. This is an instance where I would say less is more. And the fact that they're all facing the camera makes it look like they're all going somewhere together or trying to pose for a picture.. I dunno maybe that's the intention. But also Gozilla's out of focus. Everyone else seems to like it, and I enjoy it in a "nice collection" sort of perspective.
>>7667084posing in this one is a big awkward. Might be coming from the fact that they're turned away from each other but heads turned looking at each other, and it's SS's back of sword that's facing Logan. ... almost looks like they're flirt fighting.>>7674481But this one is pretty gosh darn great.>>7673978this is pretty dope. too.>>7676845Crash landing?>>7681804>>7681811Nice perspectives>>7682321spooky.
>>7682375Would have worked better if it looked like he spit out his smoothie and that caused the explosions
Guys, has it happened to you that you're loosing interest or your pics aren't just good enough?I had a series of shots starring the FF with Namor, Doom, etc. but I kept sitting on them and decide to delete them all and just leave this one.
>>7682347Fair enough on Godzilla being out of focus, but the posing and clutteredness is intentional
>>7682493I wasn't aware. In that case it works and pretty dope.
>>7682375>>7682392That would be funny. >my lord, I am most loyal!
>>7682452yes. currently I've been in photographers block slump for a few years. I don't really have the inspoo/drive I used to.I still make it a point to force myself to shoot from time to time.
>>7682452whats the gun reed has
>>7682526>>7682587Not that guy but it's from a DOTM deluxe class sideswipe.
>>7682594Was playing with my lights.

>>7693416Just to be double-edgy
>>7693416Really nice. How did you create the smoke?
>>7693444Firecracker and some dirt on-site

>>7693419I think I like specials better
>>7693496You ever try the cherry ones? They're not bad
>>7693557No i only ever tried the blacks and specialsI quit smoking a few years ago tho. Probably shouldn't start up again.
>>7654447Get Caesium bro. Perfectly fine compression for web photography
>>7650629The angle could be better. A good rule of thumb for photography is to put the camera on eye height, this works for portraits, cars and toys with faces etc. Angling down like this enforces the idea of it being a small toy that a human looks down on.Look at this photo where the camera position and angle makes the toy the appropriate size:>>7649058
>>7663516How is your monitor that you can use 4:3 wallpapers?
>>7664982I like this first one. The obscured face (and front) paints him as a bad guy (or antihero about to do something bad)
>>7665030You think it's funny to play with my feelings like that?
>>7693824To big corporations you dont have feelings. You only have a way to increase their profits. Nothing more.
>>7694440DF head huh
>>7694440almost great shot. Only things putting it off are the camera angle and cropping.
>>7686311>>7686319>>7686324very creative. especially the Porygon one.>>7693408>>7693412>>7693416always like these types of shots. I would try them, but I'd be too afraid to ruin my toys or camera.>>7693574nice.>>7693604this is like some renaissance painting.Image limit reached btw.
New thread: >>7696175
>>7696162Thanks anon, I agree, the cropping is weird at the feet, I do like angle though but I accept your critique.
