I’m glad that Commander class Jetfire is getting slammed in reviews. For a little bit more you can get a far more superior and accurate jetfire from third parties. I hope this thing fucking rots on the shelves and hasbro makes it the first and the last of its size class. I hope they finally farm the transformers license out to other companies like Mattel did with MOTU and Super 7.
>>
>>7637050
I had it on preorder along with Omega Supreme, but I'm probably going to cancel the order for both since I can get a perfectly good Jetfire elsewhere and Mini Sentry does the job of being Omega without taking up half my house.
>>
>>7637050
>I hope they finally farm the transformers license out to other companies like Mattel did with MOTU and Super 7.
Like who? They are not going to license to third parties, and it's not like any company can even do transforming figures at even current Cyberverse quality.

>Jetfire is getting slammed in reviews
Really? What's so bad about it? I thought it looked great in all the photos, and an anon here said it was excellent. I'm tempted to buy it and I don't even care for Jetfire and I find his aesthetic to be rather bland, but it just looks like a good fuckin' toy.

This. I'm happy enough with my T30 jetfire that i dont need to spend $80+ on him. I got him for about 20 and got him custom articulated hands for about half that. When you include everything needed to make those mods he still costs less than Siege Jetfire.

Thats my issue with this line. Before 2012 it felt like you were paying $10 for a $15 toy, now it just feels like you're paying $20 for a $15 toy. It's just not worth the money especially since the line is probably getting scalped into oblivion and finding them in stores is impossible unless you live in the US

>>
>>7636800
I just hate the overwhelming amount of clear plastic on the chest, and it's even worse since most of it just ended up painted over, all for that stupid clear yellow window.

Something as simple as Siege Voyager Prime's window's would have been fine.
>>
>>7637063
I have him and he's great. Ignore the fags shitting on it. There are a few issues with certain things not tabbing in as strongly as they should be otherwise the toy itself is solid. Robot mode looks great and has good articulation, transformation is simple but fun, and the jet mode looks great. Plus all the little gimmicks show the thing had a lot of love put in it. My biggest gripe is that he feels pretty light for the size but other than that I love him.
>>
>>7637099
Why are people so triggered by clear plastic? I like it, it adds depth and visual variety. I don't like figures that look like they're just carved out of a single chunk of material.
>>
Local comic shop is selling Countdown and his rocket base for $100 bucks and it looks like it’s complete because it has a bag of black ramps and panels as well as the helipad right next to it.

I’m thinking of getting it because the base could be used for modern micromasters.

Is there any fragile plastic shit I should be aware of like gps or anything?
>>
>>7637112
Because it's weaker than typical ABS which means it's prone to breaking easily, especially when lots of friction is applied to it.
>>
>>7637112
Because it's pointless if it's not used efficiently. Having a whole chunk molded in clear plastic, then painted over completely makes the use of clear plastic a complete waste of time since you won't see it.

At least Trypticon's clear plastic was used well. Imagine if they painted green all the clear plastic bits, save the clear plastic door
>>
>>7637113
Age, plastic starts getting more brittle with time. You could buy it, but you have to be really careful with it since it's a set that's about 30 years old at this point.
>>
>>7637114
I have literally never had any clear plastic break on any toy I've owned since I stopped smashing them into each other when I was 10-years-old.

>>7637116
>being triggered about efficiency
It makes no difference in the final product, though. And chances are, it WAS used efficiently. It's often cheaper and easier to mold a single piece and paint it than it is to mold multiple pieces and join them together during the assembly line. You're literally getting mad over something that both a.) doesn't matter and b.) is wrong anyway
>>

>>
>>7637141
I have seriously never snapped a clear plastic peg in my life, and two of my favorite recent figures (LG Chromedome and Hot Rod) both use them. And those aren't even pegs, they're flat tabs, which should be even MORE fragile. You gotta be a major fuckin' hamhander to snap off a a round peg like that and then blame it on the plastic.

>>

I didn't realize they changed the hips. I knew something was off when I saw the color pics, but now it's so obvious.

I'm not really sure I want it now.
>>
>>7637213
The new hip moves differently compared to the prototype. Only the inside of hips move, not the outside, while the prototype it was the whole hip.

If the whole hip moving was an issue, they could have just redone the hip from the proto to move like the finished figure.

Finally got my order of Smashdown and Caliburst. Smashdown's nice, but turns out the handle doesn't do anything for Smashdown in robot mode (the wiki mentioned using an arm to store it, but it doesn't really work), the hands aren't big enough to grab the handle without stressing it out, and the peg holes end up on the legs in robot mode.

So just, leave it on his ass or not.

>>
>>7637389
It'll be easier to list the objectively bad things because they're not really subjective.
>Tolerances
Some things don't really peg or pin into place as tightly as I'd like. For example, you fold up his arms into his body for transformation, but the panel that holds the arms in place in robot mode does not peg in very tightly. The ratchets in the shoulders are so right that you can unpeg the arms a little too easily. Same for his wrists, they should've tabbed a bit more securely. But his ankle rockers are super tight when you peg them in for alt mode. You really have to apply a lot of force to unpeg them for robot mode.
>Plastic quality
It feels a little weak to me honestly. Not any worse than the rest of the line mind you, but I guess I expected a little more for and $80 toy. He's a little light because of this but it isn't awful, I'm not afraid of outright breaking anything on him.
>Ratchets
The ratchets honestly don't feel like the best quality. I'm curious to see if they'll last. The elbows and hips are my particular concerns. The rest of the ratchets feel fine.
>The colors
The colors on certain areas like his legs starts as a Stark white but slowly fades to a more off white color. I get what they were going for, trying to maybe simulate weathering from spaceflight. I don't mind it but others may dislike it.

>>
>>7637416
The good:
>The design
Ok it doesn't matter if you like Jetfire or Skyfire because they have both looks down. Skyfire looks nice and cartoon accurate which is awesome but his armor gimmick is totally the original Jetfire toy. And the way his mask stores and pegs onto his head is great.
>Gimmicks
Holy shit this guy's has so many cool little features. The armor up ability is one, the swappable faction symbol, the 5mm peg hole collapsing into his hand when it's opened up, the cockpit opening up, handle bars for his Bros to hang onto, and this blast effects. Those things are going to be so versitile in my displays. He just does so many cool things.
>Articulation
Goddamn this guy is impressive. Double jointed elbows, hand articulation, waste articulation, ankle rockers. They really gave this guy the treatment. He just works so well and poses like q champ.
>Size
Ok he's huge. So huge. Too huge? Not in my opinion. Especially since he is supposed to be the Autobot's transport. I personally think he's just right in size.
>Transformation
His transformation is pretty simple but it's very satisfying. Nothing overly complex but still fun to do. And his jet mode looks amazing.

I'm really having trouble deciding which mode to keep him in. I love his alt mode, his unarmored and armored looks. I don't know how I'm going to display him, plus he's too big for my current TF shelf.

Anyone remember the guy wanting a new clench, and there was discussion of turning Springer into one?
Well, here's an example of the cab portion's position if he's still around.
Shouldn't be super hard, it's mostly just needing panels on top of existing parts. Just glue on the clench "shell" if you will. The hard part will be the grill, which would need to split apart and fit onto the shoulders. Springer's shoulders do swing out for the transformation, so it might be doable.
Or wait for the next wfc line and try one of those. Who knows, if we get another sandstorm, that might work better.
Good luck

Clench is wierd though, his entire back half is a weapons platform. So the truck mode has to have legs that stick straight up behind the cab.

I'll be honest, I like the idea of the Decepticons refusing to adopt Earth modes. They're alien invaders, here to raze the planet to the ground, "disguises" aren't really necessary for that. (Besides, Soundwave, being the communications guy, would probably stay in orbit and launch his minions to the surface)

My headcanon says Autobots take Earth modes because they don't want the public to know they exist: humans can't tell the difference between giant transforming robots and assume they're all bad.

Godzilla and Optimus Prime
>>
>>7637919
That's pretty much how Megatron at least was in Prime and Bayverse at first.

And yeah, I do like that idea sometimes but it all depends on the story being told. A lot of times Decepticons are on Earth to do more schemey things, in which case it would benefit to fly around as an Earth based jet as opposed to some alien craft, but yeah I don't mind either....like Cybertron modes, like Earth modes...and as a Soundwave fanboy I've basically long come to grips with the fact that you can't give him an incredibly cool altmode without changing the way he looks too much. I liked the idea of both a drone and a stealth bomber Soundwave, but neither lended themselves to looking very much like the the G1 character if that's the intent

To me the major pluses of a Soundwave are if it resembles the original Soundwave more than less, and if it has the minion gimmick, more so than having a cool alt mode.

personally I think Animated made a good choice of Alt-Mode for Soundwave, but I also kinda like the idea of him being a Monoformer instead(and thus having no alt-mode at all), whether it be natural or from having consumed Nucleon

which actually ties into ideas I've had about Shockwave being a former Monoformer too(hence why pretty much every version of him outside of G1, Alternators, and Animated have had mediocre alt-modes), maybe use Scioli's idea about Soundwave and Shockwave being brothers

Action masters are a chance to make them hella posable. If you simplify the engineering of the actual body/make everyone retools, it could be a cheap and ezpz line to churn out loadsa dudes. I personally see them doing what the Legends class does. The vehicle mode has a lot of mass the robot doesn't really use, take advantage of that to just hide a set of wheels and then hide the treads in robot mode.
As for combined mode, the wheels will probably rotate to be Devastator's big grinder drum, since it's too much mass to just come from Mixmaster. I'm also half expecting Scavenger to include at least some of the combined head.
>>
So to those saying Rocket Base or Omega Sentinel would be the next commander class, you’re both right.

Warden merged the two into a single entity. Omega Drones become the rocket base.

>>
>>7638825
Yep this is what I heard across the Facebook group as well. I have to wonder what’s they’re going to do with the base and robot mode though. It’s supposed to resemble the G1 toy in vehicle mode, but rocket base was mostly hollow with the tower forming the main platform, the only way I can see a robot mode happening is extreme ingenious parts forming or they go Grandus or Tor and just have the vehicle mode sit up and stick a robot head with a parts formed arms on it and call it a day.

I totally expect a legends style Scavenger transformation since he's going to be leader class, and there's no way rubber treads could turn into wheels and support all that plastic mass without deforming, if at all. I also expect a stand like what came with Rampage, which would be easier to affix to a solid plastic wheel assembly than a rubber one. There's even a 3p fig that is doing exactly what the second anon suggested. Hell even SS Longhaul and Rampage are slightly legends inspired in their transformations, so why not more?

At the time, Action Masters (in theory) made since because toy engineering wasn't what it was now, so you could get a Megatron that was poseable and looked like his animation model. If you wanted a Megatron that could transform, you had one, but there was an alternative.

They kinda fucked up on the execution since the new figures weren't really that posable or even accurate. Plus, they made the mistake of making characters who had no previous transforming version so you felt the missing element.

>oh man they'd have to give Mainframe a transforming figure I mean Krok got one
>tfw realizing that Hasblow would follow their religious policy of including an Optimus and a Megatron in every single line
>realize that they might be super posable and nice
Hmm. I just want a nice Megatron whose robot looks like the front of MP Megs. Revoltech looked like a nice option back in the day, but they're expensive

Who took this picture, Hasbro?

The front of MP megs is not only fake but it's just a piece of plastic you clip on to his actual chest So if you want that, just fucking 3D print megatron's chest
>>
>>7639045
I mean his face/head and proportions/etc
I like Siege Megs but something looks off

I'm still waiting for someone reusing the mp faces on a voyager, it has been proven it can be done on a deluxe.

>those translucent arms
Whatever lightpipe gimmick they saddled you with, Megatron, it wasn't worth it.

You guys can't be serious right now. It's the same damn mold. It's not adjusted for perspective, so you're lining up two images that don't belong together.

Make the cgi prototype grayscale, it's the same mold as the render. lol

Omega should be about 700 feet tall unless he radically changes size when he transforms to base mode. After all, his rocket seats several average-sized Transformers.

...Which has some worrying implications about Devastator. I usually work from the assumption that a combiner team increases their volume by a factor 10 when they merge, so their limb mode is about twice as tall as their robot mode; but even if Devastar's components are those huge mining vehicle things he'd end up way too small.

Is that a euphemism?

I pray you are right.

where can you actually get Lancer? scalpers on ebay all want around 60 bucks for her and the only legit site I can find her listed is robot kingdom, where she already sold out. Is she set for a broader release later or something?

All the small toy dealers in Singapore suddenly had stock of it last week with no prior PO or announcement. Whoever stocked Generation Selects (Red Swoop/Ricochet/Combat Meg) in your country will have it, i suppose.
