So almost a month ago I received a Real Marking Ver. Sinanju, It’s the second of the “Real marking” subline in my collection; being the first one the Banshee.
Today I got it out of the box but to my deception I found that the white markings almost all along the body of the figure are scarping with an amazing ease, At first I thought it was a misprint from factory or a QC detail but then I smoothly apply some pressure over the marks and remove some of the appliances.
Yet I have the experience of the Real Marking banshee and a Metal Robot Ex-S Gundam, in which both the “markings” are pretty well fixed. My conclusion would be that in the RMV Sinanju the white “markings” were applied directly over the bare plastic unlike the other two that to the simple touch appears to be fixed to a coat of paint.
As much as it’s disappointing to have such a delicate figure I’m still interested in this line but I would like to share and ask for experience within other figures of the series. I was interested on those new real marking zaku and Rx78 but from the pictures those seems to have the same issue as the sinanju.

The 78 and Zaku seem to be fine, mostly because the tampos are old MSV style instead of writing like the Unicorn RDs. But they are really hard to come by, I haven't seen one on mandarake.

Maybe try the Uk ones. You can send an email to the sellers to be sure. Among those in Europe it is more likely that they ship to the rest of the world.

Last pic for it, just some all-out warfare. At some point I'll be getting the Hy-Gogg and some Cold District GMs, and probably the GM Sniper II as well. I'm less on making anime scenes, and more for making one big battle out of the series' figures. Probably gonna end up cramming 6-7 figures into one detolf shelf by the end of it, but for now just these three.

And unrelated, but I also got the XN Raiser/Seven Sword expansion pack for the Metal 00 Raiser. All in all spent around 200 bucks on the setup. Worth it? Probably not, but I don't regret it either. The only thing I regret is my inability to not use as much of what I paid for, so for at least the next year he'll be sitting here with the entire loadout on his back.

They are the Metal Robot Damashii. 00 Raiser I got for like 115 on Amazon last year, and I just picked up the XN/Seven Sword pack on Mandarake for like 9k, I think. I shipped it with a bunch of other stuff so I wouldn't have to spend so much for one thing. Probably a little over 200 in the end, maybe 210.

Ugh, that awful, especially since Sinanju's marking ver was a pricey web exclusive. Something definitely went wrong with Bandai's QC there, since many RDs have tampo detail applied directly to plastic and it stays on just fine. Doesn't the Real Marking Banshee have its tampos applied directly to plastic as well, though? I didn't think Real Marking Banshee was fully painted.

>I was interested on those new real marking zaku and Rx78 but from the pictures those seems to have the same issue as the sinanju.

I have two versions of the Real Marking Zaku. The tampo detail is indeed printed directly onto the plastic, but I have no issues with their tampos rubbing off on either one. I can understand if you'd be wary though, after that poor experience with Sinanju!

The Gundam Universe Unicorn brought back some MSIA feels, literally. The weight and usage of soft material and mediocre articulation, even the skirt armor, depite being actually articulated this time, can't move for worth a damn due to questionable engineering and very limited range of motion.
>>
>>7625199
I don't understand why they couldn't have the skirt armor plugged into the center crotch piece like most HG model kits and figures. Seems like a rather silly decision that's already been solved for years.

>>7625199
Neither the GU or the RD unicorns seem to have an official scale, but the GU is bigger in size and beefier in proportions. Some redesign here, some extra panel lines there, it's quite angular and stylized, ended up looking like a brawler as a result.
around $30 after tax.
>>
>>7625199
MSIA is nothing but nostalgia wank fuel that, incredibly, has devoted fans despite the soft sculpts and the overall poor articulation. I have no idea why it's still held by many as the gold standard in Gundam merch, and why Bandai felt that it's a worthy inspiration for this new line.
>>
>>7625274
The same reason you get retards claiming that Wing was a good show, babbies first Gendoom figures.
>>
>>7625207
I haven't seen any other GU, but all of the skirt armor on the unicorn can be removed, revealing a simple crotch frame. I am guessing the figures of this line will be sharing the same frame and joints, so they designed the armor to go on the frame directly instead of swiveling from the middle piece which does not have a fixed size among different mobile suits. If this is true, you might even be able to kit bash the GU line to some degree.
>>7625274
I do like the relatively cheap toyish feel to it and the fact it's hitting retail stores in the US. The stylization is a hit or miss and the articulation is nothing to write home about. The waist is on a ball joint with like 10 degrees of rotation due to the lower waist being molded as part of the frame, unbelievable.

Western toy collectors aren't automatically put off by that as long as the range of characters is deep enough and the toys themselves cheap enough, see the marvel legends line for an example, they're basically 90% gummy pvc painted up on the same half dozen bodies with different heads, and they still sell like crazy because they're an affordable 'good enough' for characters that will never get any better merchandise. MSIA was pretty much the same, there's a huge roster of suits we got in that line that will never see the light of day even as RDs because the engineering costs and high prices of the line will mean its never gonna be worth releasing them. I'd say Bandai's approach was fine with the universe, but I don't think gundam will ever be as popular in the west again as it was with wing and g so its probably a lost cause either way.
>>
>>7625274
Because its from a time when people didn't have that many options to choose from and internet shopping wasn't as big as it is today. Plus the fact they were easily available on store shelves at an affordable price that didn't put off parents looking to buy their kid a fun toy helped.

The GU line isn't perfect and I can see a lot of issues that need to be fixed (see: articulation) if they ever hope to complete with Hasbro, but the mindset here isn't wrong. RDs are increasingly overpricing their value.
>>
>>7625274
Under MSIA shit like >>7621842 would have been made no question asked. Even the fucking Big Zam was mass produced

Insanely cheap, insane variety of figures from tons of series, variants of different units to make them worth buying multiples of, lots of accessories, enough articulation to not be a brick, durable enough for even the most retarded kid to not break them easily and a lot of experimentation. Those are some of the reasons the line is held in high regard and why people want it back. RD have great articulation and sculpts sometimes but they are so expensive and so focused on UC that if you care about anything else you'll probably never get a figure.

Why does Nippon-Yasan sell two different RD Char's Zaku, one of which is labeled as a reissue? I assume it might be to fix the weak joints or whatever the problem with his Zaku was, but I've seen no other site list a reissue for sale.

They did reissue it

They are selling it because it was reissued in October 2016 and japan stores do like to list them correctly. Some store may not listed as reissue but will just show the different release date on the previous item page .
Reissue does not mean fix or upgrade.
>>

I'd take a reissue with just fixed hips and knees if that's all that was different. Would be more useful than that 'Char Gelgoog 2 but not really' that's coming out soon.

You can still get the RD Freedom and Shining for reasonable prices, but the rest could be painful (and expensive) to track down.

At this point your best bet might be the Gundam Universe line, since Bandai has shown no interest in revisiting AU suits with ANIME engineering.

Alternatively, if you have the cash, you can try the Metal Build line - but good luck finding anything released at retail price.

My haul from Anime Expo. Bluefin booth had the G-Fighter for 40, Z'Gok for 35, and the Rock and Explosion effects for 15 and 20. Random other booth had the SoC Gipsy for only 200! I know he's not rare but thats still a decent bit cheaper than I usually see him for. And then Gohan, but that's not robots. Still, 40, a good price.

Probably gonna get the brown rock effect and some white wave effects for the Dom's at home as well.

And one of the Type F.

They're both kind of fiddly because the entire top half is full of spiky bits like their v-fins or GN fin/stablizers, even the thrusters catch on my fingers a little. The Type-F is by far the worst with its shields. The Type F is probably the better of the two seeing as how it comes with a boatload of accessories including the multiple shield/boosters. The white one just comes with the basic loadout, GN sword, shield, rifle, cannon, and the new proto Throne Eins cannon. Personally though I think the normal white color scheme is by far the more gorgeous one

Katoki literally had to fix the Hi-Nu design with the Hi-Nu Ver. Ka because Izubuchi fucked up his original one angle design so bad when Izubuchi redesigned it fro the first Hi-Nu MG.

And if you put them against each other with their best Gundam designs:

Izubuchi- Nu Gundam and Alex
vs
Katoki- Ex-S and V2 Gundam

Katoki wins.

>>
>>7632789
Yes, it's a bit annoying. What's the point of the static frame, anyway?

I guess by getting the armour parts and a static frame together, you at least get a display piece while you can get the articulated frame if you want to pose it and not just display it.

I quite liked how they look on the static frame actually. It's nice to have the option of having both versions at the same time, but rather they just did a complete figure similar to the AK line.

Are you making sure to pull the foot downwards? Just from your picture, it looks like you may have missed that step or you haven't fully extended the feet.

In fighter mode, the feet are slightly retracted up into the leg, which does block the heel range of movement. For gerwalk, you're supposed to extend the feet by pulling them down (you'll feel the foot lock into place once you have them fully extended). Once extended, you should have full range for the heel for an aggressive gerwalk stance.

I like both lines, and the reasons you are hating on them for apply to none of the figures I have bought from the HCM-Pro line and GFF line. I agree with the earlier post about MSiA being too highly regarded, but the HCM-Pro line and GFF line are much more interesting to me. I understand the complaints over the years about GFF being to fragile to be considered an action figure. GFF are meant for displaying, not "playing with". I guess the higher price of the GFF compared to MSiAs made people think they were rugged action figures with better detailing. Like I said, I can somewhat understand that, but to say the GFF line is bad or covers its problems with excess detailing is ignorant. I have about 15 GFFs and none of them look cluttered with decals, they are some of my favorite display toys, but to each his own.

Gotta support me some gundam figures aimed for the American store shelves. I feel like they put the most effort into wing, it's got a better bend at the elbow and the wings are articulated. The fact that it's around the same large size as its peers rather than properly scaled also helps.
Among the three, the unicorn felt underwelming in my opinion. Maybe it's the color scheme and the material, but the unicorn feels like a white chunk of plastic with red lines painted all over.

Another thing I'd like to point out about the unicorn is its shield. It may be a slab of unpainted white plastic from the back, but it looks really good and sharp from the front.

In an earlier post I speculated the figures of this line share the same joints and frame, I appear to be somewhat correct. The ankle joints, shoulders, and the entire crotch frames are the same. Skirt and shoulder armor are interchangeable, and the shields share the same ball joint.

The Zock seems to have slightly more merchandise than the Xamel, but not by much. Only Xamel merch I could find was a resin kit, a 3rd party gunpla kit and the MISA figure. Zock at least has a HGUC kit.

Mostly I'm sad about the Zock not existing because it's my favorite of the OYW amphibious suits. And I think it's the only suit from 0079 that we haven't gotten in RD, which seems weird to me.
>>
>>7638707
After showing off the MB gn arms, that big zam that was at a show while back is a definite possibility as well.
>>
>>7639427
No, way less. The Zock has had much more exposure especially in SD form. I think the Xamel having no other representation but a kinda shoddy 20 year old MSIA probably factors into this release though. It needs an update more than the Zock.

Didn't one of the RD guys say in an interview that an RD Zock would cost too much and if they would put out a Zock it'd be a sofubi?
>>
>>7641273
They didn't say anything specifically about sofubi, just that they would explore other possible ways to release a Zock since they weren't sure a RD was feasible.

>もう1つ試算を行なっているのが「ゾック」だ。水陸両用のMSだがMAといって良いほどに大きく、前後が同じデザインで、非常に特異な存在だ。ゾックはマイナーなMSで、「機動戦士ガンダム」で印象的な活躍が少ない。足も曲がるようなデザインになっておらず、アクションフィギュアとしてもギミックが見えない部分がある。こちらには野口氏は「今のままでは商品化が難しいというハードルを感じている」とのことだ。「ver. A.N.I.M.E.」の規格とは異なる方法など、様々なプランを模索しているとのことだ。
Basically they said the Zock's problem is that it didn't have a strong impression in the TV show and has very few visible gimmicks especially with articulation as its legs do not bend. At the time they were seeking alternative merchandising plans that is different from the ANIME standard.

>>

I'm sure those will be the first two villains. I recall an interview where they said they wanted to focus only on suits iconic and popular worldwide, but that when they do start on villain suits Chars Zaku would likely be the first.

When's the next Tamashii event? I'm worried about the Hi-Metal R line they haven't announced anything new in months.
>>
>>7643472
Tamashii Nations will be present at SDCC this weekend, but whenever they're in the states it's mostly for Dragonball, Marvel, and Star Wars products as the focus. I wouldn't be surprised if we got nothing for mecha in general except showing off what's already announced and upcoming.
>>
>>7643472
I wouldn't worry about HMR. It's like the only line that survived name changing and brutal killing, so hard that the R literally stands for Revival. And they have everything up to 7/Plus/Zero already done.

I have the Metal Structure Nu Gundam pre-ordered at my local hobby shop. The guy there is normally really knowledgeable and helpful but for the life of me I can't figure out what the fuck he's trying to sell me upsell me on. It's some sort of protective case for the gundam? Like a hard travel case that may be a backpack, ostensibly only one transparent side and holds the gundam firmly in place. Apparently costs way too much money, even for someone who's willing to drop a grand on a toy. My Google game too weak to figure this shit out. He swears his importer has the gundam, fin funnels, and backpack listed separately but part of the same batch and that the backpack's item description specifically mentions the Metal Structure Nu Gundam. I've searched enough to feel confident it's not actually specifically for this, but I'd believe there's some special case for Perfect Grade gunpla or something and they're using this to push them. Anything sound even kinda similar to this?
>>
I'm trying to think of what suits are left from 0080, because it shouldn't be too many. All I can think of is the GM Command, Zgok-E, Guncannon Mass Prod, and the Rick Dom II.

I'm thinking the only one we might not get is the Zgok-E, since it honestly doesn't have much screen time, especially compared to the Hygogg. GM Command is almost guaranteed since it would be mostly a recolor of the upcoming space type, and the Dom appears in 0083 as well, so it will probably show up in there since it's more prominent. We get a lot of Cannon suits in general, so I think the mass prod version is likely as well.
>>
>>7646338
They would be stupid not to do the z’gok e. It’s the only other iconic suit left, the rest are background fodder.
>>
>>7646564
It's the only suit left from 0080 that'd grab my attention, at least

I was looking at some of the Universe figures but I'd really be a lot more interested in seeing some non "Gundam" figures. Some Zaku's, GMs, you know.
>>
>>7647803
Based on that interview with the GU guy, we probably won't be getting normal suits at all. I don't think they were sure we were even going to get stuff like Char's Zaku or the Tallgeese.
>>
>>7647803
>>7648941
We almost got them, but they decided against it because they wanted more good guy suits from other series, for some reason.
>>
>>7648945
It honestly makes this line kind of pointless for us RD fans. Though if they start showing up in places like Walmart and Target and it gets more Americans and other normies into Gundam, that would be nice. The only GU figures I'm going to get are the Wing ones because I don't feel like buying their RD figures right now.
>>
>>7649196
I'm interested if they make tallgeese, epyon, EW suits, Mercurius, Char's zakue, basically all suits that have limited merch or who I'd like better meatier versions of. Char's zeke because the rd has weird knees.

Instead we get....the gundam....again.
>>
>>7649200
It's gonna be years before we ever get some of those I think, like the Mercurius and Vayeate. Wave 2 isn't supposed to come out until December.
>>
>>7638685
THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING MADMEN
>>
>>7648941
They did hint at a Char Zaku II, not sure how likely it will be though. That said a nice chunky sharp sculpt Zaku II to go with the RX78-2 and I'd be golden. Maybe dip back in for the Ez8 but less bothered with anything else shown far as I don't want it, the style looks off or I prefer the RD.

>>7649196
GU isn't aimed at the audience that know and are already invested in RD. It's basically a more casual friendly Gundam line while the more "hardcore" Gundam fan will be into the RD line.
I don't mind that though, having a bigger desk friendly RX78-2 sounds right up my street while my ANIME ones fill my display needs. They won't replace the RD but they will make a nice complimentary figure, similar to how Assault Kingdom/G-Frame is if you want a smaller scale.
>>
>>7649200
No! Fuck you! I’ve been waiting decades for RD EW suits, and I’ll be damned if they end up being part of this shit line instead!
>>
>>7649363
It makes sense that they do the suits popular with Americans in a format that's popular there.
Genius Bandai move to be honest.

That lineart for Exia makes me nervous. The 00 suits mostly emphasise rounded surfaces. Making everything sharp would ruin the aesthetic imo.

The vanilla Gundam, maybe, but IBO is probably the most popular series in the West after Gundam Wing and maybe Unicorn. I know several people who love the Barbatos.

I'm not a fan of the art direction, but that's one hell of a line up. Maybe I'll grab Tallgeese to pair with my Wing.

That's Wing Zero EW bruh.

Also there's no way they will be better than the RDs, unless for you bigger means better. Sculpt/Paint seems on par, but articulation and accessories are gonna take a hit.

>For real? I heard a lot of people shitting on it
Are they /m/ type people by any chance?
I've seen more positive things said about it from more casual people while /m/ seemed more like the place that shits on it (and everything else)
Them making the follow up some mobile game did lead to a lot of people shitting on Bandai/IBO and rightly so cause fuck that mobile game shit.
>>
>>7653949
>Also there's no way they will be better than the RDs, unless for you bigger means better. Sculpt/Paint seems on par, but articulation and accessories are gonna take a hit.
Consider Tallgeese was lighter on articulation, I just hope the knee changes stay. Frankly I don't use half of the fancy modern articulation rd's use. If it's on par witht eh old rd Tallgeese then it's adequate. As for rd Zaku II I hope it loks and feels better than the rd, mine's loose as hell, the color looks off, and I don't like the slide out hips.
>>7653967
mostly here, and friends I had who were into gundam in the firstplace, they described it as bad seed or bad g gundam? I forget. I don't go to /m/.

I do have legitimate complaints about IBO (mostly the subpar execution of its characters and themes), but I think the concept itself is quite brilliant as are a lot of the mobile suit designs.
