Specialized pieces were never the problem, in Mega's case, they are great due to the detail that goes into making them cool pieces to incorporate into builds. Lego's cheap ass failing to pack a good balance of basic and specialized pieces is the problem. I swear all their design expertise goes into making sets with as few pieces as possible. Impressive in terms of efficiency sure but also makes for reduced free building possibilities and minimal value per set.

>>

Seems risky. Futurama is pretty fucking dead culturally, haven't even heard anyone mention it in ages. I was shocked we even got Fry and Bender at this point. That said, if they released a Planet Express, I'd buy day one, and I generally hate big sets since I have a small place. I'd definitely make an exception for this though.
>>
>>7563328
I think they could stand to make some money by making the planet express ship an exclusive to online stores like thinkgeek or entertainment earth. If they were to make the set, ideally it would include the classic trio of fry, leela, and bender.

The upside would be that they could eventually release leela by herself in a later heroes wave.
I doubt she would be that costly to make, the most expensive part would be creating new molds and sculpts for her head. They could just pop her head onto the new Cortana buck, add some destiny boots, and some extra piece that vaguely resembles her wrist communicator and she would be good as gold.
>>
>>7564177
>ideally it would include the classic trio of fry, leela, and bender.
That sounds nice, but I'd rather we use the power of the set to get the characters who will never be popular enough for a Heroes release, like Zoidberg or Hermes.

The only way we'd get those guys is if they made the Planet Express HQ. But as you said before, I doubt there's enough market demand for something like that. Hey Guys!!
New collector reporting in....
My "Blox Boys" are about 36 strong. There are mostly small units of 8 to 13 soldiers. I have a few Elites but certainly need more.

Really lacking in hand to hand fighters but I guess it's Halo mostly so lots of shooting. A few Terminators for Ai backup. Some Promethean Crawlers on order. My original plan to have them lead by Hellboy has fallen through since he is mostly naked and would get shot to shit.

Is there any chance they would release a unit of Sangheili with boobs, you know for the sake of...diversity?

I am done with buying anymore units unless they can offer new weapons or are completely badass looking.

Going to shoot for Promethean knights but will probably pass on vehicles since it would make the Cybertronians feel slighted.

Venom wasn't totally unenjoyable, mostly because I really like Tom Hardy, but it was very messy. I came away feeling vaguely disappointed and a little bored. He's not actually in the suit very much, and the final battle is two almost identical-looking goopy black creatures splatting against each other...at night. It was nearly visually incomprehensible.

tl;dr: ton of wasted potential, Venom and the Life Foundation storyline could have been so much more.

If you find them in store and have the codes, the blind bag series usually have a marine fig as one of the commons. There's some army builder sets like Yankee Squad that have come out, though that one is probably not so easy to find now. They've been pretty consistent in putting out new squad packs on the regular so we'll see what comes next. Larger sets with vehicles aren't great for marines, they like to pack them with various Spartan variants and maybe one or two token troopers.

I have a similar issue with the Covenant, in that their lowest rung (and usually most numerous) castes have been underrepresented. Again, blind bags have helped some, especially in acquiring Jackals and Skirmishers. It's harder to get more of these by other means though, the Shields of Requiem Lance for example gives you two Elites, and then one each of a Grunt and Jackal.

Yeah, really it's just about getting more parts. There have been some really good terrain resource sets. Probably not really available anywhere but ebay anymore. I'm not sure what's out now that might be good for it.

When new halo bags come out, I just buy one of every code, lol. No need to buy the case, just read the codes and pick out the different ones. If Im missing one, it tends to be easy enough to figure out where in the sequence it goes.

Do you have a 5 below near you? Check there for the terrain packs and bags.

Avoid the off brand baseplates, go with lego if you do. Only lego will fit the odd shaped mega plates. The off brand wont fit anything on it, and pop off builds if you can manage to snap it down. May break the bricks even.

There was a bigger shift to generics packs and creator sets a few years ago that caused this problem with modern lego sets.

Go to walmart, you'll find 20 "Creator" sets with generic pieces galore, but they're expensive and have weird colour pallettes that make them hard to use with other sets or custom builds.
That or the bulk boxes that have like 2.5k bricks for absurd prices.

Of course, mega has it's flaws too.
>lol what is distribution

Here's a few pics as promised on the Castlegrey Skull that I tried to put together today. There were ~480 steps intotal on 180 pages. The instructions do have numbered baggies however they still aren't as clear as Lego instructions. When starting a key step a small picture of the required baggies is present. You'll still need to hunt for specific pieces across 2-3 baggies.

Also wanted to that I like how the upper pincers can be moved and adjusted as desired. I also found a mistake in the instructions when building the golden throne on the back of the skull but I was able to fix it by using one of the excess pieces left over from one of the earlier steps. Speaking of excess pieces, there seems to be quite a lot left over from each of the baggies. It's unsettling have that much left over.

>To anyone who has- how do you pop He-Man's hair off without damaging the figure's head?
It's a regular T-connection, but it seems to have a dab of glue on it. I was able to semi-gently bend up the side of the hair enough to where I could get a small screwdriver in between the forehead and the hair and I applied a bit of pressure until it let go.

Keep in mind that I did this when He-Mans were plentiful on the shelves, so if it broke, it was $5 to replace it. It didn't break, it was fairly easy and I've repeated the process, but be somewhat careful, is all I'm saying. There might be more glue on some of them than others. If there's a way to neutralize the glue without stripping the paint, it might be worth a shot.

like most bootlegs, not great.
some pieces don't hold, others don't come apart; the plastic feels cheap; there are parts I can't figure out the use for. it took four bags to make a tree I was okay with, and it falls apart.
if you just need greenery for ground cover, its probably fine.

each comes with a big green palm frond, a small (hard plastic) fern, a couple flowers and stems, a green sapling and a couple brown saplings, a bunch of palm tree bases and not enough trunk sections, and a couple 3-leaved fronds.

I think that's what most of us would agree, since a ton of us buy franchises we give no shits about just for parts. But I have a feeling that logic is pretty isolated to us diehard Mega fans, and doesn't really hold up for most mainstream folks. Those kinds of people generally don't see any value in buying something that they don't know and love.

I want fantasy parts too, but if it would be a huge flop and maybe threaten the Mega line's ongoing health, well, I don't want it that bad.

"whaddya mean, "you people?!"
Love that movie only for RDjr
>>
>>7585082
shame the price is a ripoff. It costs as much as the MOTUC castle did. I easily see this going to clearance after a few months.
>>
>>7585248
Don't be a faggot.
>>
>>7585076
look at that golf fag
>>
>>7585248
>lol ripoff I'll just wait til this goes on clearance
>WTF WHY DID MEGA DIE
>>
>>7585248
You don't deserve Mega.
>>
>>7585251
>>7585261
>>7585275
They don't deserve my $250. Fuck off, you corporate dicksucker.
>>
>>7585319
Then you can never bitch again about not being able to find this shit at retail. You're "get it all on clearance because I shouldn't ever have to pay full price" mentality kills brands like this.
>>
>>7585328
Fine by me. If they want to charge so much I don't buy it at retail then I don't get it either way. Stop egging us to shell out piles of cash to "suhpert tha braynd". I'm not obligated to, you miserable shit.
>>
>>7585335
You're the one who sounds miserable you poor faggot. It's still cheaper than any lego set with comparable piece count and comes with a shitload of figures.
>>
>>7585335
must suck being as poor as you
>>
>>7585335
This is why Amazon and deep discount clearance retailers are a cancer on this hobby. Everyone feels like they're owed free, or dirt-cheap products.
>>
>>7585344
>>7585348
Cry moar, I can spend $250 on something better. It's less about "having money" and more "spending wisely" which I know none of you bitches on /toy/ can figure out. Next you'll call me poor because I pirate video games for free instead of filling my entire house with game carts & discs. Go right ahead, then lick my asshole. I don't buy things to impress miserable fucks like you.

>>7585353
Prices used to be much lower than current trends, only 5-10 years ago. Fuck you. Today's sales are yesterday's retail prices.
>>
>>7585397
Seems like you're very defensive about this, and desperate to try to convince us you're in the right, when there's clear guilt.

I don't give a fuck that you pirate games, or can't afford toys, but this lame, almost verbatim nonsense defense that always gets posted by poorfags in an attempt to persuade us that its actually the big evil meanies trying to take your money makes you look dumb. And 5-10 years ago was quite a while ago, and Mega has evolved a lot since then. They still had the shitty ball jointed figures back then with horrible aesthetics. Everything about Mega has improved since then.

Stop acting holier-than-thou, you bug.
>>
>>7585397
Oh, so you aren't poor. just a piece of shit. You weren't even spending your own money 5-10 years ago, kid. That much is obvious.
>>
good lord, all this over toys lol
>>
>>7585319
Lol so you want mega to die and have a truly corporate company like lego be the only block toy maker?
Mega bloks knows motu is a risky investment aimed at a shrinking niche of adult collectors but does it out of love for the fans. Just look at lego, nothing they do is risky and for niche target markets; all normie licenseshit and very kiddy oriented sets.

I think it would look even better with slightly marbled bricks, but I understand that wasn't in the cartoon aesthetic they were going for
>>
>>7585771
I'm not a fan of the marbled bricks, so I'm very glad they did it this way. I can put up with it on smaller sets, but for bigger sets I think it makes thinks unnecessarily visually complex.
>>
God dammit, Gamestop! When are you actually getting in Greyskull? It was supposed to be today until today came along and now it's the 21'st.
>>
It's amazing how I've gone from (stupidly) thinking that Mega Construx might be in trouble to now holding most of Heroes S5 in my hand, I picked up my Castle Grayskull from Walmart this morning, and I'm receiving a huge batch of new Mega product via Amazon at some point today. It's totally great.

That said: where the hell is our image of Heroes S6 Scully, so we know The X-Files duo will be complete?!? There's no possible way Mega would leave Scully out of S6 and drop her in Series 7, is there? I'm hoping we get all sorts of information at SDCC . . .

I'm miffed we still don't have a Leela. That's like the real "core" of the crew--Fry, Leela, and Bender. Granted, it was shocking we got Futurama at all, but still, I need my Leela. Preferably with knees this time.
>>
Uggggghhhh new threaaaad

Engineer Corp for my marine squad, kind of wanna take these guys in a Godzilla EDF direction, also like using these guys as modern/ near future military, any feedback always welcome

Get some Godzilla toys and take some outdoor shots, include some kind of theme or story line and more firepower like tanks and stuff!

How crazy would it be if the Dark Fate/GoW cross promotion prompted MEGA to pick up the Gears license? I'm at least hoping we get a modified endo out of all this, that design looks fucking intense.

oof, we need more mega terminator, period

dude at the back came with one of the Ass Creed sets, not sure which tho

Can't find Evil-Lyn anywhere. Is she shortpacked?
>>
>>7587718
I think she is. Like only one or two per case.

Also, Battlebones is SDCC exclusive.

I'm anticipating at least a 150% markup on Battle Bones, though seeing them hit ebay initially at $120 is probably not out of the question: F**K. The SDCC idiots who will try to get their ticket costs paid from off of one of these will be legion.
