should i buy a hypnos? why or why not? i don't give a shit about slam fire, and i also am capable enough to not have to worry about the short-stroke issue. this would be my first rival blaster, as i'm trying to get into rival stuff in preparation for the release of the perses.
>>
>>7547550
Honestly, I would recommend all the mainline nerf stuff except maybe the Atlas(for being shit), Zeus(for being fiddly and only good for mods) and Khaos(for being completely and utterly outclassed).

I'd say the Hades or Artemis are similar to what the Hypnos provides and you can find them pretty cheap, but they're a pain to reload so they're not great for long games.

>>
>>7562678
give or take: autism, incompatibility with a lot of blasters while long darts are pretty universal, pretty negligible improvements at common blaster fps (especially if you just use cut down normal darts like accufakes and not something like worker)
Like 150+ fps sure, from all I can tell halfies shit all over full length, but I guess I usually play at a more casul level
Again: autism, I probably should give them another shot some time
Tangential, but when I was double checking fps apparently bongland starts treating any toy guns as air weapons if their projectile is above above 1.3J/~170 fps for foam darts, and were even considering lowering that to 1J/~130 fps, with a lot of nerf meetups having super low restrictions, so no one there can really get the full potential out of stefans
Shit sounds like it sucks
>YOU GOT A LOICENSE FOR THAT CALIBURN
>>
>>7563001
wait, but if you cut them down to half that means less mass, which means less energy for the same velocity, so stefans would possibly increase the limit right?
shit nigga I flunked my physics classes I can't into this
>>
>>7563001
Those poor brits

We may have an absurdly low muzzle energy limit for retail blasters here in Aus (50fps for darts, 30fps for Rival balls if the line was sold here), but then actual weapons law says as long as they're firing foam darts it's fine, build a full-auto air-powered blaster running off a paintball tank and firing at 300fps and the worst they can charge you with is causing a public disturbance if you be a twat with it
>>
>>7563010
still, I highly doubt the bobbies will be roaming the parks with chronometers just in case ollie twist plugged his air restrictors and swapped springs, they have much bigger issues to worry about like butter knives or bike wheels
the real issue is the nerf groups voluntarily being pussies and enforcing low ass limits (down to like 100fps in some groups, possible to break with a stock rival blaster if you get a lucky shot)

>the real issue is the nerf groups voluntarily being pussies and enforcing low ass limits
All it would take is some ass hats who get into drama in the group and decide to punish everyone by figuring out a way to get the police to actually be motivated to go after them. Maybe make claims everyone is getting high and passing the drugs to minors while ramping up speeds of the projectiles far above the legal limit to potentially dangerous levels and shot at each other including said minors.

Police come, feel like time was wasted due to no drugs, but realize 'hey, there IS a law they are breaking, let's not feel like we are completely wasting our time here."

So I can't completely scoff at groups for being 'pussies' you never know when people decide to be asses and if they have the legal backing to their assholery, better to play it safe.

>>
>>7575099
personally I always had a soft spot for the Raider. Quite a fun slamfire gun IMO
>>
>>7578205
the jamming issues are from it being a banana making non fat head darts misaligned when feeding I think
I've heard of a lot of mods for other guns basically hacking out the internal magazine and gluing a regular 18 rd stick mag in its place, or more simply you might be able to make a slope to attach to the feed mechanism and/or mag follower(?) to straighten them out but I haven't seen any examples of that
>>
>>7578394
oh shit, i didnt think about the sloped thing on the follower. I think i may pick one up and just start fucking around with it to see what i can come up with. thanks for the idea, man! i wish nerf would make another springer that has the constant top-up feature.
>>

Jared posted a review of this with some close-ups of the internals at 5:15:
https://youtube.com/watch?v=LI5GkZ8uL5w
>>
>>7563008
Conservation of energy. The acceleration of the dart is a function of the spring/air force which never changes, thus as the dart's mass goes down the acceleration goes up, creating the same force. The energy of the dart is related to the length on which this force acts, which in a Nerf gun is fairly small since barrels which would trap pressure would also increase friction.

What I don't get is why everyone here uses feet per second rather than meters per second, especially >>7563001 when talking about the JOULES of energy that limit them.

>>
>>7581942
They may include it in a little parenthetical on the site but the bold box figures/commercials/selling point bullet lists always used fps and most of the big nerf communities/youtubers are also american ergo even more fps prevalence

>>
>>7590915
It has nothing to do with taking anything seriously, retard. Calling a dart a bullet is as stupid as calling an arrow a bullet.
>>
>>7590915
>>7588662
I do not take toy guns seriously, I do however take firearms in general seriously. A bullet is a the part that is fired from a rifle barrel, the rest of the cartridge is NOT a bullet. Only the tip of the cartridge, so stop referring to cartridges as bullets. Therefore it makes absolutely perfect sense why a foam dart, a BB, and a paint ball are not bullets.

I get triggered everytime I hear nerf officially call them 'clips' instead of magazines. But I deal with it because I know why they do so.

So no, it's not just the toy gun enthusiasts who get triggered and "taking toys too serious", the other side can't stand it either. It is perfectly understandable they will don't want misinformation as well.

I think that's more specific to the Mercury and the Jupiter since they come bundled with targets and from what I can tell so far rival rounds shot from they fly with really straight trajectory, but the others are just edge colored reskins.
