Anyone have any luck finding any of those Jakks Pacific KotM toys yet?

Found all of them. Got big Rodan. He is THE BEST. So much paint wash
>>

Been checking like 4 different Walmarts whenever I have a chance since release. 5 days ago I found the foot tall Godzilla at one but it was the last one and he wasn't even in the right area and they had nothing else besides that one Godzilla. It was around that time when I found out that you can order the 2 foot tall Godzilla from the Walmart website. Then last night at a different Walmart I finally found the big King Ghidorah and big Rodan, they was on the very top shelf of the toy area where you can't see them but I'm tall, they only had 2 of each and had nothing else, I put the remaining 2 items lower so some kid can find them. I'm pretty much done now cause the mini sets look like shit, however if I find a king Ghidorah mini set I'll probably grab it cause I like Ghidorah but for now I'm done searching.

but that's a good thing cus the figuarts line knocks it out of the park with showa era ultra kaiju

The releases for figurats ultraman kaiju have slowed down though... what gives?

Yeah, fucking Exclusive Showa Kaijus with little to no accessories.

I love getting vinyl toys, either for Ultraman or Godzilla

They lack of articulation sure and sometimes the paint isn't really good, but they're pretty fucking decent figures for the price

I'm already relieved that G2019 figure is better and bigger than the 2014 one, at least it'll be more in scale with some figures I have

If you talk about the anime trilogy, they're a good example of missed potential. I mean the crossmedia lore with Godzilla killing every kaiju on the planet and made the US President killing himself on TV is kino as fuck, too bad the movie aren't even 1% of this.

At least we got cosmic horror Ghidorah, executed poorly
>>
>>7491921
>and sometimes the paint isn't really good
You could say the same for SHMA, to be fair.
>>
>>7491930
I agree, but there's a difference between a 15 bucks top figure and one that can cost 100
>>
>>7491228
They both look good to me. Left looks more heisei, right looks more showa. but is the engineering on the left one poor?
>>
>>7491076
Does anyone own this? He is one of my favorite Kaiju so i am willing to pay the large latecomer fee, but I want to know it's actually a good figure.
>>
>>7491930
i really really really wanted that SHM Shin Godzilla but held back after seeing video reviews of it. Any anons who own it can chime in? The price isn't an issue at all but I'd just like to know if it's a good sculpt.
>>
>>7491946
Yep! He's good. I have a feeling he'll get SHF'd soon, though, but regardless considering he's older he's a nice one to have.
>>
>>7491946
wait it out, i doubt his price will jump that high. shf is on a roll with the ultraman kaijus, even when most of them have hit the bargain bins. They're good releases too, I own a couple except for that one you're asking and they've all been satisfying kaiju purchases.
>>
>>7491817
>You really should have known better then to post something like that here

What, a fucking link related to the upcoming Godzilla movie? Fuck off.
>>
>>7491948
Sculpt has always been top notch on the SHMA. It's the crappily applied paint apps that ruin it.

That's why I stick to more simple designs, less chance to fuck up.

Ultra kaiju are pretty great for the price point. And some of them are surprisingly detailed and a lot have interesting designs.

>>

In case you weren't aware: They have Deluxe (DX) versions of some that are almost as large as figures like Mecha-King Ghidorah. I have Zeppandon and he's pretty big.

>>
>>7491613

This is a reference sheet of a Kaiju plush toy I’m making for a project of mine. When the prototype arrives I’ll share what it looks like.
>>
>>7494595
That looks dope. Do you have a social media page to promote it?
>>
>>7494611
That’ll come later down the line. I got 9 other designs being worked on (1 other created by me, 8 created by other people allowing they’re characters to be part of this) so once those are in the prototype phase, I’ll start up the social front tactic.

I got a proof of concept toy (which is way bigger than it will be) of my character which I will share.
>>

I only got my personal Facebook page sharing this stuff until I get enough materials to share until the Kickstarter is close to being ready which won’t happen until later this year.

What's everyone's thoughts on SSSS Gridman?
>>
>>7495060
I thought it was a fun series overall. The kaiju designs were cool. I loved how they were designed to look like Showa era rubber costumes. And some of them had some really interesting abilities.

I also liked a lot of the ideas the show presented, I just wish it were longer so we could delve deeper into them.

Also, I found everyone except the main character interesting. But that was part of the story, so by the end it was understandable.

Also, also, Akane is best waifu!

It's based off the original tv show Gridman, which aired in Japan and also under Super Samurai Syber Squad for US and other english countries. It was a cool show and had a cool opening in Japan.

Atleast there's the revoltech. As someone who doesn't like revo joints, I'm glad to atleast have the daimajin.

Yeah, I'd like a figuarts of him but this is better than nothing. The character design doesn't really lend himself well with dynamic posing, but if you know how to work the revo joints you can get his legs spread far enough apart with his feet flat on the ground for a cool stance.

I've never gotten any godzilla merch but I love the look of the new american one. Should I preorder the king of the monsters monsterarts fig? Reading this thread it sounds like there might be some QC issues.
>>
>>7501501
He's pretty cheap right now and comes with a spare atomic breath effect so I say it's worth taking a chance if you really like the design.

As for the QC, the only iffy part's the eye paint but that's going to vary wildly from figure to figure. At leat sculpt wise he's pure Yuuji Sakai goodness.

These guys are essentially statues, but are perfectly in scale with the Ultra 500 vinyls and I really dig them. I got them together for $15 on Ebay, but it didn't specify what series the Taro is from. Mephilas is from the Ultimate Monster figure series apparently.
>>
>>7501770
the neca figure looks exactly the same as the previous release but with new spines, and I wasnt blown away by it. their new godzillas have improved a lot so it feels like a step backwards. I loved the monsterarts 2014 godzilla and the new one looks like a good upgrade and would be my personal recommendation, but if you wanna save a few bucks you'll probably be happy enough with the neca.
That said, I'm sure both will have a couple of repaints, so you may want to hold off until a newer version comes out too.

Already placed a pre-order cuz ~50 bucks for the monsterarts is a pretty damn good price to me. But what's the repaints usually entail?
>>
>>7500174
the colored ones are from the 50th Anniversary edition of figuarts Ultraman, and the grey buildings are from the S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla Effect set 2 and Toho Ultimate Weapons set 2. I think I also see some of the white buildings in there, which are from the Tamashii Option Act Building set. They're just white versions of the buildings from the 50th Anniversary set if you'd rather just have the buildings. There's also a damaged version of these sets if you want a little variety in your setup.
>>
>>7502857
Repaints are usually exclusives and can go anywhere between $75-120, unless you live in Japan or have access to their p-bandai store.

You should check out the Japan release, I think it personally is much better as someone that owns it and compared it to the Bandai Creations release. I hear you on the prices, but if you are debating between a $60 BC Hedorah or $80 BJ Hedorah, I'd go with the Japan one anytime. They shouldn't cost that much though. I got mine for $35 I think a few years back. Good deals show up on occasions, like I saw Orga for $40 a few weeks back (which is pretty reasonable considering).
To answer your question, so far I've seen the following Bandai Creation releases for the new movie:
>1954 Godzilla (wide version)
>2000 Godzilla
>King Caesar
>'74 MechaGodzilla
>GMK Ghidorah
>Rainbow Mothra
I think that's it. It's a shame they aren't re-releasing FW Gigan or Destroyah too.

I got NECA Shin Godzilla today, it's the first figure of theirs I've ever bought. I love the look of it, but it was a mess out of the box. The left shoulder was backwards and frozen in place with a glob of paint, and the left foot ended up on the other side of the box. It's pretty stiff in but I feel like the joints will loosen up with use. I'm mostly just happy to finally have a figure of this disgusting nightmare boy.

You see it in the 250-350 range occasionally, which is reasonable. At the time a lot of XPlus figures were getting Diamond reissues which I wrongly bet on in this case, plus already having the 89 XPlus I was hesitant. I've grown to appreciate the 91 suit more since then.

Figure this is the place to ask since I got some noob questions. I don't collect much but I really want a monsterarts godzilla 1964. Anywhere to get this except ebay? And what's a decent price for one? Are monsterarts kaijus mostly the same size ratio so I can collect other kaiju than godzilla and the collection will look nice?
Also I read about preorders and such, where do you guys preorder your stuff?

Sorry if there was a sticky somewhere I missed I'm just mostly into godzilla and dabble in ultraman.
>>
>>7515185
>Anywhere to get this except ebay?
I see them on Amazon (for a hefty markup). I think they sold for $60 MSRP.
>And what's a decent price for one?
Depends on how much you want to spend. I'm not a fan of Monsterarts (after owning one), but I know there are lots of fans on here that are. They've been getting higher in price lately, but usually Godzilla releases are usually ~$80 these days and other kaiju vary (~$60 to ~$200). I'd find out what the MSRP is and make decisions based off that too.
>Are monsterarts kaijus mostly the same size ratio so I can collect other kaiju than godzilla and the collection will look nice?
Yeah, they are in about the 6" range and I think scale pretty well to NECA and Bandai Movie Monster figures.
>Also I read about preorders and such, where do you guys preorder your stuff?
For me, it's AmiAmi or HobbyLink Japan. BBTS does pre-orders too but sometimes they have mark-ups for whatever reason.

I haven't had any issues with ebay. The figure itself is typically more expensive than you can find on mandarake but the shipping is usually free.
Of course, you have to be sure you're not buying from china but that's easily avoided.

2002 Godzilla. Mine had the eye issue like pic related.
For a $80 figure with minimal paint, you'd imagine they'd at least make sure the few paint they did apply was correct. Ah well, that particular figure had other issues too that I luckily didn't get. That's what turned me off of them honestly since for a higher price I expect a higher standard, and major things like making sure the eyes aren't derpy should be part of the process. Some figures are notorious for QC issues and others are relatively safe. I think the 1968 was pretty safe from what I remember.
>>
>>7515204
Boy those prices are not gentle. I wish they'd reissue this. Then again knowing how the line is now they'd probably fuck it up.
>>
>>7515256
Yeah I have a few monsterarts that I love, namely Mothra, original Destoroyah, and Final Wars Gigan, that are just fucking perfect. No sloppy paint apps or loose limbs. But my one Godzilla, the 1995 version, has a lazy eye and loves to fall apart at the waist and left foot. I really wish Bandai would start giving a fuck about the line again.
>>
>>7515256

>>7515185
Not sure on how you feel about NECA figures, but their Godzilla releases keep improving and they've basically confirmed on twitter their going to put out a 1964 Godzilla. It will definitely be bigger than the SHMA since the SHMA one is tiny as hell. I can't imagine the articulation would be that far off either. The SHMA will probably be better but not by a crazy amount I would imagine. Besides the weird split the SHMA can do, it didn't have that much range of motion compared to other SHMAs
>>
>>7515327
More like the only one.

>>7515430

Definately interested now because of the hight. Checked out other NECA godzilla and they look pretty good. Any idea how long it could take from Twitter confirmation to when it comes out? And are there lots of kaiju in the 12"range?

>>

>>
>>7516399
It's not worth it. The SHMA line is incredibly overpriced for the poor quality you're getting. They don't even bother to paint the claws sometimes.
>>

>>
>>7516526
>The SHMA line is incredibly overpriced for the poor quality you're getting.
It wasn't always this way. QC has gotten pretty bad, though. I don't know how hard the 1962 Godzilla was hit by QC problems but that's only because its high price point turned me off ahead of time.

It's strange considering that Figuarts and other higher-end Bandai figures don't suffer from these flubs the way Monsterarts do. I had always assumed there was a steep overlap in methodology and production between SHF and SHMA but perhaps not. At least NECA seems to be improving.
>>
>>7515748
We'll probably get a reveal on the 1964 Godzilla at comic con this summer with a release window
>>
>>7516399
Depending where you live, try checking your local hobby stores or anime retailers. That's how I got mine. Just don't overpay for him.

As for KOTM Godzilla, he's relatively cheap right now and seems like a good upgrade over the 2014 one if you like the design.
>>
>>7516881
I'd like to think they've taken some of the complaints to heart and are slowly improving. The biggest letdown of the line was their Shin which was almost universally criticised for its QC issues. The subsequent releases haven't as bad I think.
>>
>>
>>7516994
Shin's issue was paint. They fixed that in a second release. But since then we've gotten 2002 and King Kong Godzilla. 2002 has horrible head sculpt and bad eyes. King Kong Godzilla has unpainted claws.
>>
>>7515327

Went to my local Target for the first time in a while, and their NECA section was actuallu chock full of good shit for once.

Picked this guy up. Damn, he's hefty. Tail is heavier than the figure so you can't do any poses with his tail fully off the ground or it'll pull him backwards.

So is it just me or is this guy not articulated very well? I can barely move his thighs, but it could just be some joints that need to be loosened.

But overall I really like him.

Yeah, none of NECA's Godzillas are particularly super-posable. The hips in particular are pretty tough to move at first on this one, but once you free them up a bit you should be able to get some decent poses out of him. I should also note that the plastic around his elbows and knees is soft enough that you might be able to push them a bit further for a bit more range, but you'll have to be careful about damaging some of the details around the joints there if you do that.

I've only got their Shin figure and it had some similar issues. Nearly every joint needed to loosened up and some were twisted around and jammed in out of the box. The biggest issue I have with it is that the sculpt won't allow it to be posed standing straight, and the weird W shape of the tail sculpt means it can't pull off the creepy, snake-like S curve he's always pictured with.

>>
>>7521373
Look at Tomytec N scale buildings on Amiami, there are tons.
N Scale ranges between 1/148 to 1/160, I believe the Tomytec are listed at around 1/150.

They are prepainted kits that mostly slot together and hold by friction, a dab of superglue in some parts help hold parts better.
Really nice buildings, work well with HG/RD Gundam figures too.
>>
>>7521048
2002 is my favorite, bit they all have fucked up paint. Anyone saying otherwise is lying.
>>
>>7521373

I'm the one with the shin godzilla. I build mine with foam core and elmer's glue. I cut out walls then measure out a pattern for the windows and cut out the window shapes, and use pins to hold the pieces together while the glue dries when I assemble them, then I cut out a piece to glue to the top to make the roof.

Obviously if I want to make a damaged building, I just cut the walls at a jagged angle instead of doing a clean full wall, but then I have to cut pieces each individual floor too.

I think N-scale come in both preassembled and unassembled packs, but from my research, even preassembled pieces need some work to look exceptionally good.
>>
>>7517428
>>7518502
I've been wanting to do this too. but my issue is not having enough space and it taking a while to construct a deep cityscape as well as how much money I'd have to invest.

But I think it'd be fun for my few kaiju and also pretending my moe girls have gotten big.

They are not worth that high a price. Best to wait. They should restock. Honestly I like them but nothing to write home about. Mothra is especially underwhelming. No idea why they made her so, so tiny.

Biollante launched at 225 dollars, not including whatever shipping costs get thrown in. According to ebay she regularly sells at roughly 700 bucks, which all things considered means Amazon's price is not total rape-tier.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=monsterarts+biollante&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

So you could get her for as low as 500 but it's unlikely.

You have to take into account the guy is using some really harsh lighting on his video. It's just making the wash stand out more than it typically will in person.

Select Bandai Creations figures have been brought out of retirement for both Godzilla 2014 and King of the Monsters now. Most Walmarts and Targets have them. You're mostly gonna see everything in pic related as well as MireGoji and I think I've heard of stores getting King Caesar too.
