A lot of the bucks seem to have wonky eyes (forget pupil asymmetry, some of the yellow bits aren't aligned on the sculpt), but I grabbed a decent one yesterday. Looks leagues better in person than online and I dig the colors on the baby Rex as well.

Haven't seen any dual strikes yet. Some Targets take their sweet time cycling with the reset. Hopefully in a week or two we'll all be in the same spot.

My God you people couldn't have a more boring wish list. The crazier the better, this toyline has been quality so I can't wait until they branch out to the weirder stuff. Chaos Effect hybrids would be great, but really I'd love to see an updated take on Jurassic Series 2, with evil poachers with crazy bone trophies and Owen and some old army buddies leading up a protection unit against them.

A visitor center playset would be fantastic, given how much they've made skeletons so far I'm shocked it hasn't happened. Opening doors, break apart skeletons, some catwalks, and a couple side rooms of the kitchen, the raptor mural, and some computers would be fantastic.

The other things they tried to pass off as a playsets were just damn 2 packs and the D-saur copter (wether you consider it a playset or not is up to you more like a vechicle with Dinosaur and a human not a true playset in my opinion.)
Anyway we don't have very good odds of seeing more playsets if you look at it realistically.

You people are crazy. Wanting characters screen accurate from the movies in a toyline like this is bonkers. You're essentially asking for multiple "regular the person" as figures. This isnt a superhero movie, this isn't star wars, it's not even the matrix. Nearly everyone is in just random, every day clothing, and the only reason we even want characters like Grant are just because he is so well played for a non character on the page. You certainly don't see people requesting figures of the fucking Kirby's, or the kids from Jurassic World, or whatever. You want to spice things up. For fucks sake the figure of the Roland Tembo from TLW had a fucking dinosaur's face cut up and stiched across his chest. Now that's a toy.
>>
>>7333489
the frill is so awesome and the color scheme is amazing. we better get one, maybe in the 6-inch line or as a mega battle damage. maybe they’ll just slap a legacy logo on the packaging and put it in a bundle with another dino
>>
>>7333668
>wanting characters from the movies in a line based on the movies is bonkers!
Okay dude
>>
>>7333668
Here's the part you're not getting: the human figures aren't a big part of the line. Kids barely want them, they want the dinos. We're not going to get a lot of human figures as it is, and if we are we'd rather get characters we actually like rather than toyetic randos designed purely to sell in a sub-line that isn't really going to sell anyway.

Yes indeed it is, but they would never put it in the Legacy Line because its not from the first trilogy. The Legacy Collection is only for the original Jurassic Park movies not the Jurassic world rebrand of JW there is a full 14 years that separates the 2 Trilogies (soon to be Trilogy in 2020), the last Official Jurassic Park movie being JP/// wether people want to admit it or not.

>Kids barely want boring ass regular people wearing clothes they would go to the grocery store in
Oh you don't say? And I'm the one not getting it?
Here's what you aren't getting: Jurassic Park and Jurassic world are specifically ABOUT Dinosaurs interacting with people. People, vehicles, and playsets have been part of every single toyline Jurassic has had specifically to cater to the fact that this is a franchise about Dinosaurs fucking people up. The mattel toys have been great when it comes to the dinos, and they clearly have some decent ideas when it comes to expanding the line. They should focus the parts of the line that are not just dinosaurs on interesting, fun concepts and not some person in a t shirt that happened to be in the movie with the dinosaur. The lines in the past didn't die when they switched to chaos effect Dinos, they died when they switched to lines that were just repaints of dinosaurs with no humans around to fight and eat and break out from. This is a fact.
>>
>>7333885
>The lines in the past didn't die when they switched to chaos effect Dinos
Actually they did, Chaos Effect was a dud that's well-remembered by fans but sold very poorly.
>>
>>7333889
Which was replaced by the far more boring JP dinosaurs line which then sold even worse. Also way to ignore the entire rest of the posts which is the important part: lines of just dinosaurs and nothing else can only go so far. Is your memory that short that one of the biggest complaints among admittedly many about the first Jurassic World toyline was how having basically no humans made for a terrible line?
>>
>>7333885
And your idea is to try something that didn't help at all when it was last used, which is making Saturday morning cartoon villains. The only reason those are remembered at all is because of how out of place they were, not because people loved them.

Look, I get it. You want those guys. That's fine. But stop pretending that your opinion is the only valid one and that somehow that's this massive group of people who fully agrees with you and that, somehow, anyone who wants a handful of characters from the movie is insane and dumb and should not be listened to.
>>
>>7333896
Nobody said no humans. People here want humans, but for some reason people wanting characters from the movies pisses you off and you've been throwing this hours-long autistic shitfit about how that's dumb and you want supervillain characters. People have even suggested more merc or security dudes but you even took a shit on that.
>>
>>7333897
Remembered? Dude fuck remembered, LOOK at those toys. They are FANTASTIC. There were hunters using knives made out of a ceolphysis skulls with armor and clothes you could rip off to show mauled skin with chunks bit out of it. They had badass hatchling dinosaurs. Modular weapons. They are some of the best figures from the entire original line.

You're not crazy to want a Malcolm or an Owen or whatever, but recognize that this line and it's future will be better served by outlandish and adventurous ideas that work as TOYS and not movie replicas. For fucks sake the last movie we saw had criminals and terrorists buying dinosaurs and running off with them. THAT can be a fucking toyline.

>but recognize that this line and it's future will be better served by outlandish and adventurous ideas that work as TOYS and not movie replicas
Except all the previous times doing this did nothing to save the line.

Also you seem to keep treating your opinion as objective fact. You may have liked them, not everyone did. You tried coming at this from a business angle but that doesn't work because they didn't sell. Again, it's fine if you liked them but you need to stop acting like your opinion is universally shared.
>>
>>7333901
We've gotten more characters from the films than we should have at this point. I haven't taken a shit on the merc figures, I just don't think generic army guy is a good enough goal. I've only bought two figures from the fallen kingdom line, the merc with the dimorphodon and Owen with baby blue. I'd happily buy more figures that seem actually paired with dinosaurs/hatchlings that aren't weirdly scaled down big sculpts and ready to train/capture/fight them.
>>
>>7333908
>You're not crazy to want a Malcolm or an Owen
You literally said we were, man.
>>
>>7333917
But again, this is your personal opinion. You keep treating your opinion as fact. You keep assuming everyone agrees with you, and you've called anyone who doesn't crazy and dumb. You're behaving like an angry child because people are challenging you and saying they don't want Dr Snare type characters. These are also our opinions, but the difference here is we're not insulting you for wanting what you want. You are.
>>
>>7333916
Yeah I get it, I'm in a thread full of people that want more Franklin and Zia figures in their outfits from the movie. This is a bad opinion to have. There might be a lot of you, it just means there's a lot of idiots out there.
>>
>>7333923
Oh boo hoo go cry to mom that the mean kids don't agree with you.
>>
>>7333923
>I'm in a thread full of people that want more Franklin and Zia figures in their outfits from the movie
Nobody said this. Nobody even said we want solely regular people, again the idea of mercs has been floated and you either ignore it in favor of this weird "everyone just wants people in regular clothes!" strawman that you mad up or you decide that somehow that's also a dumb idea because you want outlandish characters. You've also decided, despite evidence to the contrary, that doing this is the only way to save the toyline, and that anyone who doesn't agree with you is an idiot.
>>
>>7333918
Hard to finish a sentence? You're not crazy to want them, but you shouldnt want them in movie accurate replica status because those figures are boring and are better when they're jazzed up a bit. The legacy figs from Target have compies eating them which is at least something, but where do you go from there? There's only a couple of other characters worth releasing period and then what? You need figures to interact with the dinosaurs and I don't think 7 versions of ALAN GRANT IN A SHIRT is a good idea.
>>
>>7333936
I've literally never ignored the mercs or shit on it. Learn to read you blind faggot. And since the majority of the figures so far ARE "regular the person" figures and NOT fun mercs, I'd say it's worth arguing about when the only thing I see people say they want thread after thread is fat old man in white shirt and young kid in blue shirt, etc. Terrible choices for figures in an all ages toyline. But please, continue.

Counter literally anything I have said.

Dinosaurs are the focus of the line but still need people and accessories to fill out the purpose of the property and the line. Fact.

If all you do is put out onscreen replicas of characters you will a) run out of figures very quickly and b) those figures will all be varying degrees of boring people in normal everyday clothes. Fact.

Creative concepts that encourage action and interaction with the dinosaurs will drive the line to be longer and more successful. Sure you CAN argue, against this, but that would make you a fucking moron.
>>
>>7334006
Let's compare photos

Which would you rather buy?
>>
>>7334010
See, that last part just makes me think you're looking to stir the pot, but yes you do have a point. Mattel could do that and maybe they should, but that don't mean they should also neglect doing characters from the films, given how they've already dipped their feet in the water with the Legacy collection. From the way things look, they're trying to play both fields in that they want to be both a line kids can dig as well as adult collectors, and to me they're managing alright. They could do JP series 2 esque raider figures and maybe it could be really successful, but I wouldn't pay them any mind because they're not my thing in regards to collection human figures.
>>
>>7334010
>If all you do is put out onscreen replicas of characters
Here's the thing: nobody has said this. Nobody says they want ONLY on-screen characters. You keep harping against this point despite literally nobody actually saying this.
>>
>>7334026
-collecting-
>>
>>7334026
I'm fine with a small amount of screen accurate characters, but theyve already done most of the ones worth doing. Any character they make directly from the movies has to be sold on the strength and popularity of the character alone, and there are only a few worthwhile ones left.
I'm not trying to stir any more shit, I just truly believe that original characters or at the very least current characters in more action oriented/fantasy esque situations is the best way forward for line growth with non dinosaurs.

>>7334028
Lots of people say this, in other threads, forums, and even here in this exact thread. We have requests for Lex and Tim and more or less Hammond just in this very conversation. And so far in the line it has been MOSTLY just figures like this. I'm saying that this needs to change and it would be good to put support behind ideas like this because lines of nothing BUT dinosaurs gets a little boring.
>>
>>7334038
>I'm saying that this needs to change and it would be good to put support behind ideas like this because lines of nothing BUT dinosaurs gets a little boring.
This would be fine but this isn't how you approached it. You saw people requesting Hammond and Tim and Lex, assumed these people wanted ONLY these characters, and threw a massive shitfit over it. You're seeing people saying they want certain characters and assuming that they want ONLY those characters. I can't speak for other forums but literally nobody in this thread has said this. You've been reminded of this, repeatedly, but you still act as if this is what people are saying.
>>
>>7334026
Oh and in regards to any release in a Jurassic line, EVERYONE should always come with a dinosaur. Hatchlings are one of the greatest toy invention pairings of all time. I just think things like this Claire >>7334015
Are terrible because that is an out of scale stego that looks wildly out of place and has no ties to the figure what so ever. Tim from the original JP line is a perfect figure, because it has a kid with a clearly baby Brachiosaurus along with a working snare to slide around the neck and lead him to his cat carrier sized cage. It's a figure with 3 accessories one of which is a dinosaur and everything interacts with each other and works perfectly. That way you buy the figure because you need the cool little dinosaur and are pleasantly surprised by the entire package.... And I don't remember Tim snaring any baby Dino's in the movie and carrying them around in a cage.
>>
>>7334045
Yeah I have to agree there, I'm not sure what the purpose of the scaled down dinos are. The dimorph with the merc has some value, but the mini stego and trike don't really make any sense.
>>
>>7334041
I said they were boring picks because they are, and generally speaking here in this very thread and in most other discussions all I see are requests for movie characters. No need rehashing our posts from 20 minutes ago more than that, but I will add that of course, I get it, I get WHY people would ask for the characters from the films, I just think you have to examine what you're actually asking for (plainclothes people) and realize we need to ask for more and more unique and yes toylike things.
>>
>>7334051
>I just think you have to examine what you're actually asking for (plainclothes people) and realize we need to ask for more and more unique and yes toylike things.
But again, you're operating on the assumption that people want ONLY those things. People have actually agreed with you that the line does need to expand beyond movie characters. You seem to think that because people don't want Evil Raiders level of outlandishness that it absolutely MUST mean we only want regular people with no accessories. You've spent this entire time making bizarre assumptions, then acting as if those assumptions are concrete fact, and then getting mad about it. Whenever someone has challenged you on any point, you've reacted as if it was a personal attack and started calling people retarded niggers. More people are on your side here than you seem to understand but you isolated yourself by attacking even the people who actually agreed with you.
>>
>>7334054
This. It's the same thing with hybrids, isn't it? Not that people don't want them at all, as far as I could gauge, people don't want them to be as cartoonish or "out-there" as Chaos Effect or they don't want that to be the focus at this point in the line.
>>
>>7334054
My point is that people really only ASK for those things though.

If I'm Mattel employees going through insta and forums and whatever else all I'm thinking is "man people really want a Hammond, maybe we can squeeze him out before the line dies and we aren't able to make humans anymore!"

As to making other things, I think unique and fun characters are important. Generic army guys or whatever are okay, but tossing in some quirks and character is important and makes all the difference. Generic army men already exist out there. Just buy marauder stuff. We should get stuff that has a focus on people that interact with dinosaurs.
>>
I trust Mattel won't do any stupid hybrids or chaos effect. May give some shout outs in paint schemes but there's a hundred interesting species in the Jurassic park universe you don't need this. Make the hunters part of InGen or work for the park. This is a DINOSAUR line so yes that's what we want. This line is just getting started, we haven't even gotten a sauropod or indominus yet. Haven't even seen toy fair yet.
>>
>>7334088
Hybrids have potential and have a better leg to stand on than Chaos Effect back in the day thanks to the Indominus, indoraptor, and various vidya game hybrids that have have appeared in the jw games ala Spinoraptor.
>>
>>7334088
if they do hybrids, they'll have to release them with new standard dinos as well as to not tank the line since their existence is polarizing with fans
>>
>>7334233
See I really don't think that hybrids are all that polarizing to the general fan base. There's a couple of faggots on here that constantly hate on hybrids , being a vocal minority, but that hardly represents the fans as a whole
>>
>>7334287

>>
>>7334392
You are delusional if you think hybrid dinosaurs won't come into play at some point in Mattel's tenure should the company and toyline survive more than another year.
>>
>>7334401
Hybrid dinosaurs are not needed. They still need to give us a proper T-Rex and Triceratops with feathers among many others, even Stegosaurus had them.
>>
>>7334443
>even Stegosaurus had them
It literally didn't. None at all, as in zero feathers. Trike and Rex MAYBE, and on both it was minimal, not like your pic. Also, if you think a Jurassic line is gonna have accurate versions of dinos that appear in the franchise as inaccurate, you're unironically the biggest fucking retard on this site, let alone this board.

Solid bait tho, 7/10 for annoying me so quickly.
>>
>>7334233
>they'll have to release them with new standard dinos
Seriously? Y'all faggots hate the Hasbro Hybrids line so fucking much, even putting the shitty molds aside, but your solution is to do almost exactly what they did?
>>
>>7334401
Please name all of the fake ass hybrid Dinos that will come into play. Many more opportunities with real sinoceratops, sauropods, other carnivores like troodon. That fake shit has nothing to do with the 3 "park" movies and won't appeal to the masses. Won't happen. You may think things are inevitable like hybrids but that doesn't make it so. They are nominated for toy of the year and all current waves are selling off the shelves. They have said they will stretch this until the next movie so sorry unless you see a couple from Jurassic world evolution like the spino raptor it isn't happening. The amargasaurus itself is unique enough not to need bullshit hybrids.
>>
>>7334443

>>
>>7334927
“Science doesn’t care about your feelings.”

You do realize that the theory of Tyrannosaurus being completely feathered was more or less shot down two years ago, right? The current understanding amongst the majority of paleontologists is that Tyrannosaurus (and other large bodied tyrannosaurids) were fully scaled, and that if feathers were present, were only located along the dorsal region of the animal.

Hell, it was enough to even make the developers of Saurian go back and change their Tyrannosaurus from feathered to scaly.

Go read my post again. Do not twist my words and claim I dismissed anyone just because they were not male. I only stated that I believe everyone on the internet, though I specifically mean 4chan, IS male; unless there is proof that such an assumption is not the case. We are on an anonymous board after all, so it's not like I am able to see women posting and thus cast them aside for simply being female. It is just far more easy to assume that everyone is one gender without second thought, than to waste time carefully analyzing every single mannerism and detail within text posts to determine who's a male and who's a female. And before you jump to yet another conclusion, I am not asking you to prove yourself. Once again, we have all chosen an anonymous board for a reason. On any other site you can have your identity, but here, to me, you're always Anon. Nothing more, nothing less.

And to conclude this post, I leave you with rule number 37 of the internet: There are no girls on the internet.

Yea it’s a lot on ebay still. I managed to trade a spino I got off target.com w 5% off and ship to Mexico for $33.50. So it was about $60 total in the end. Walmart retail would have been like $45 w tax so not a horrible markup for a now ultra rare set.

I’m still curious as to why exactly it got cancelled, especially after being shown off at comic con. I guess Walmart said “no thanks!” after so many SA indoraptors sat on shelves.
>>
>>7340330
In all fairness it was showcased as a cancelled product at Comic Con.
>>
>>7340330
I care more about that red dimetrodon! They need to release it. Don't know why it was cancelled. Toys r us have the rights?

Mattel: But anon we don't want you to care about what wasn't we have so many things coming in 2019 and even made you a pretty green Dimtrodon with a red sail just for you. Now don't worry your silly little head about it we are already giving one no forget about the Destruct-a-saurs.

It closes when you push the tail to side interestingly enough. Right or left I don't know, what I do know is thats a must have this year since we missed out on the D-saur on Damn shame that one too. Was so pretty.
>>
>>7340429
I know :( but that red one looks better. It's the savage strike action gimmick I'm not crazy about. Would like the red one in attack pack.
>>
I'm getting really sick of all the cancelations, and the not full releases of the line. Especially products they show off or talk about. I mean how can you be this bad at running a company, don't announce products if you don't know you are releasing them
>>
>>7340527
Tell me about it. You'd think they'd have distribution fixed for Dino rivals after being nominated toy of the year.
>>
>>7340527
Might be desperation to build hype. They don't need to work too hard to get people excited about JW stuff but overall Mattel in general is hurting so they have been jumping the gun on these reveals so that they could drum up as much excitement about one of their few currently successful lines as they can.

That or they just plain don't know what they're doing which, again given the overall state of Mattel, is just as likely.
>>
>>7340527
That’s what I’m saying. If you are nominated for toy of the year how do you not have this new Dino rivals line together?

>Battle damage raptor can rotate arms and neck.
Destruct raptor also can rotate neck, he doesn't have the shoulder hinge, which was kind of useless anyway unless you want your raptor to do crane stance kung fu kick. The lack of shoulder hinge also makes painting and customizing easier because it is less of a paint rub worry.

The red destructasaur dimetrodon is one of the biggest mysteries to me. One dude has it IN PACKAGE. There are two pics. Based on patterns, if it was just a prototype it would not be in package. My theory is they made 1,000 units and it’s sitting SOMEWHERE!

>>
>>7343470
Good thing. Star Wars has failed as a brand and won’t sell (the original trilogy are still the only good movies). Leads to opportunity for Jurassic line to keep going strong. They were nominated toy of the year. Star Wars? Not so much.
>>
>>7343476
>the original trilogy are still the only good movies
Not to start a shitwar, but Jurassic franchise had like 1 and a half good movie (JP1 and half of TLW). It's more about making quality designs and product, and Mattel JW deliver on those while Hasbro JW didn't and shelfwarmed. Star Wars also suffer from lacking character designs, say what you want about Clone Wars but their designs are cool first and make sense later. The Clone troopers were flying off shelves together with OT figures, while literal whos like Flynn, Rose, Guava Warrior, etc shelfwarm
>>
>>7343529
Wasn’t saying anything about the quality of the Jurassic movies just that Star Wars sucks now. Which is reflected in the toys and what kids like. Not a lack of character design for Star Wars more like lack of relatability in characters. They’re all just rehashes. Honestly I haven’t even seen fallen kingdom yet and I own every legacy item and all the real dinos. It’s the same with Jurassic world which is just a rehash of the originals. All these expanded movies just take the plot of whichever correlated movie from the original and tries to throw a progressive spin on them. Honestly all movies suck now.
>>
>>7343595
Yeah you can see (at least on my local stores) that meme characters like Zia just pegwarm as hard as Rose Tico and Flynn.

>Not a lack of character design for Star Wars more like lack of relatability in characters
I would disagree on this one. When the character is "cool" they'll sell. Captain Phasma was absolute jobber in the movie, but she looks cool and she still sell. The success of JW line was more that dinosaur figures are timeless, and the last time we had a decent mass produced dinosaur line was the TLW Kenner like 20 years ago
>>
>>7343600
>When the character is "cool" they'll sell. Captain Phasma was absolute jobber in the movie, but she looks cool and she still sell.
This. This is why Boba Fett who did basically nothing and died a humiliating death always sells, while a character like Han who everyone likes but makes a boring toy usually pegwarms.

Yes, you heard that right, Han Solo is historically a pegwarmer. Part of it is due to oversaturation and everyone who wants a Han already having one, but part of it is because visually he's not not very exciting. Kids have never gravitated towards Han the way they do to Vader, Yoda, Maul, Chewie, clone troopers, etc.
>>
>>7341985
Sauce on image please, have yet to see non promo pics of this how'd you get it?
>>
>>7343658
Right but poor “phasma” got no love at all and was the only decent one. I’m sorry but last Jedi was the worst movie I’ve seen in my life. I’d watch jar jar binks on repeat before watching that crap again. I’m sorry but those new cooler looking characters aren’t selling. The black series look cool but again that’s the original trilogy. I’d get the bounty hunters.

Back to Jurassic. Look at Roland Tembo vs Wheatley. Progressive bullshit has ruined all movies in this day and age.
>>

>>
>>7344033
Dipshit... Roland Tembo was treated with respect and was a relic from a different time. Wheatley was portrayed as an evil white man. Both were hunters. Wake the fuck up.
>>
>>7344038
Not obsessed, movies just suck now as they all have a SJW Message.. Think whatever you want but you just admitted to the existence. Pretty sure Wheatley calls zia a “nasty woman” right? That’s not a reference to #metoo and shit?

Roland Trembo was shown as a noble hunter who wanted the thrill of the hunt and the honor of bringing down a Bull T-rex but put his hunt a side to help everyone get off the island. juxtaposed with Vince's "Liberal" activist character who actively tries to kill the InGen employees even the scientists and caused most of the deaths on the island basically showed that both sides had good and evil aspects which during the time WAS subversion of the 90's narrative of Hunter bad Greenpeace type good.

Wheatley wasn't a hunter... he was a dick with a a pair of pliers he didn't want to hunt the dinos he just wanted to pull their teeth to show how much of a "badass" he was. and Ironically a subversion of the TLW.

TL;DR Roland = Noble, heroic, alpha male, Wheatly = omega male wannabe.

Speaking of which if you can't get the Destruct a saurs Dimetrodon, just paint the savage strike one once it gets released, its the same sculpt.

Canadian anon posting a heads up for anyone interested in Destruct-A-Saurs,

I was shopping in my local Toys R Us and found they had some of the Destruct-A-Saurs assortment with the Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus and Pteranodon. I'm not sure how widely available they are as they aren't listed on the website, but in store looked like they had had at least 1 or 2 cases worth put on the shelf as there were at least 2 of each dino.

I purchased them at $16.99 CDN each before taxes, if any Canadians or Americans who live close to the border happen to be shopping in Toys R Us in the near future you might want to take a look as I don't know how much stock is out there.
>>
>>7345641
Toys r us should reopen in the USA only the size of GameStops and only carry the best selling toys such as the Jurassic line.
