Exactly. Just because they stapled all the pieces into a big display box doesn't make it suddenly worth twice the price.

I don't expect much out of Mattel, so I'm sure they'll look ugly and end up on sale and then I can go buy the dolls, take the clothes, and give my friend the naked ones to make customs out of because she's good at that stuff. This has been my tradition with many of the recent ~collector~ dolls.

High heel mules on NYE...nope! Also gown styling needs something at the neck for that cut despite the bodice detail and huge statement earrings, I feel like the bodice area is lacking somehow.
Matching the eyeshadow screening to gown colors, and those shades of blush and lipstick don’t really suit a redhead best...oh Babs...

Looking for another Barbie x Pantone collab, this summer a Living Coral Mermaid would be good....
Vintage face with flowing hair and mermaid dress/tail.
But I like the gown cut, hairstyle, brow shape, lip shape, color scheme and the champagne glasses.

How many have jointed bodies? At $5 you could have saved the bodies and sold a pile of the heads and clothes on ebay. My nearest stores have dropped Barbie "collector" dolls, they only stocked about 3 each of the terrible holiday dolls.

>>7325915
At this point, I'm fine with them licensing the most unsalable likenesses they possibly can. The dolls will all be garbage quality. If they make anything people want to buy, that will be truly tragic.
>>
>>7326059
Garbage? Nah, Inspiring Women was solid. The clothing for the Inspiring Women was good--not perfect, but on par with some of the mid-level collector's dolls from the good collector years. Amelia, sans her weird eyebrow, was good. Frida was good. Katherine suffered from terrible hair, though I liked her clothes.

I don't believe that woman or girls need dolls or heros that look like them to be inspired. I don't think so little of woman or girls. I believe woman are made of something a little stronger, and don't need to be patronized in such an obvious way. It's insulting. This is about a greedy corporation (Mattel) trying to make a profit through the popular art of virtue signalling. No more, no less.

>The back of the bus is best spot,

The back of the bus/class is where the loud noisy ghetto kids like to sit so they can goof off, do bad things, and get away with their shit. The front of the bus is best. You are far away from them, and close to an adult who can tell them to fuck off if they try messing with you. As soon as you get to your stop you can walk right off the bus quickly without having to pass by them, and risking them touching you, slapping your ass, making fun of you for not wanting to join them, or catcalling you.

I'm not into capeshit dolls because of the molded clothes, and that super hero outfits sucks.
And I don't like live action dolls either because of their fugly square faces.

Those dolls combined the worst of both worlds.

I had her in an area where no sun hit her, and near a fan - and it still happened.. It's winter atm, and it was probs worse then i knew.

It's when glue leeks out of doll head and thus make it sticky and disgusting. Mattel use this cheapskate shit to root the dolls' hair from MH days until lately, if the doll head is hard and soft and squishy as vinyl should, than there's glue.

Just looked it up. Almost all Youtube videos related to the topic has to do with Monster High dolls. Considering that most of those dolls sold from $22.99 to sometimes $29.99 at TRU that's pretty fucked up. Oh, well about 70% of my MH collection is from thrift stores. Someone in my area donated a shit load of them with original outfits boots, and accessories. Up until than I only had a few of them. Mostly a lot of Frankie Steins. Shes my favorite. Last one lights up to show her skeleton.

Have anyone saw this? Toy Box Philosopher was the best doll reviewer, her reviews were well detailed and more than the typical "look at muh beautiful doll!". The fact she's leaving the hobby is a bad sign and I can't blame her, there's no interesting variety of dolls currently...many doll lines died and there's yet to come worthwhile replacements.

It's really sad. One of my favorite doll Youtubers mentioned that a lot of YouTube doll reviewers are leaving, due to YouTube hitting them hard. YouTube now deletes or demonetizes videos with "doll nudity" which is retarded because most thrift store dolls are found naked. This kills thrift store haul videos which I really enjoy. Some reviewers tried covering the dolls nude body up with socks or with their hands but I find this to be annoying since I sometimes want to see the body shape or the amount of articulation a doll has. Can't see that if they cover up everything but the head.

Some of them get demonetized because YouTube is now accusing them of selling things to children, which I guess is somewhat fair since most of the more popular dolly YouTubers get paid in free dolls by companies that send them all of their latest lines in exchange for promote them.
>>
>>7334384
I am not sure, youtube does promote the toy reviewing videos and channels, though it seems they would prefer the channels that actually aimed at kids and even better ones that the reviewers are kids, ughh.

P.S. The doll reviewers failed to leech out of Patreon like the action figure reviewers?!

A few different channels bring it up from time to time while doing 55min long thrift store haul videos. I don't have the time to rewatch every video they've made in the past year in hopes of finding the parts where they briefly go into it, but these are some examples I could find.

This channels goodbye to YouTube video touches on it. They've also talked about it during a bunch of their thrift haul videos for a year now. It's the reason they cover nude thrift store dolls with retarded socks.

These channels have also brought the subject up before during reviews. They've just never dedicated a whole video to the subject. There are about four more channels other than the ones I've shared that I know of that have talked about it as well.

Correct, most Tomy, Bandai and Daiso dolls have this body. Why? Because Japan’s leading brand doll, Tomy’s Licca has this body so it’s the Japanese norm. Likewise over here. 11.5 inch solid plastic bodies are the norm because they are modelled on Barbie.

I was upset, and considered returning the set because with the release of Anna, and Elsa pack my set was officially incomplete, and I had no desire of spending even more money on two dolls that honestly should have been included in the $100 set in the first place. I don't know. I've removed them from their outer box, but they are still strapped to their inner box. I like the way they were posed so I'm displaying them that way. The only loose dolls I have are Anna, and Elsa which I had to unbox so they could join the others. I honestly don't enjoy undressing dolls. Redressing them is a pain. Handling them too much creates fly away hairs, and I find it difficult to get their hands, and figures through long narrow sleeves. If I bump into any photos of the dolls without their outfits on I'll share them here for you.

I don't really care if they make a live action Esmeralda doll unless shes allowed to be as attractive as the cartoon version (which we all know it wouldn't be allowed to be in these soulless #Metoo times we are living through)
This is the same reason I'm not looking forward to seeing the new live action Jasmine doll. Shes most likely going to look boring, and soulless. I was hoping to get a live action Jasmine doll like the one in this image, but after getting a look at the horrid movie outfits I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping that at least her face wont look ugly.

This takes me back to what feels like just yesterday. I remember collecting the BK kids club puppets, and toys. There was one Esmeralda puppet that came close to being a doll. This was my first taste at owning a legit doll. She was part of a puppet collection, and they were only $1.99 each. Her head, neck, hands, legs, and feet were plastic just like a legit doll, but her upper body was stuffed. I recently found an Esmeralda doll with her original outfit in fair conditions, but would love to have a new one someday. I can never seem to find one at a fair price point.

And when those came out - i just felt so damn let down. I have that Hunchback, as my mother got me that one and i believe the gargoyle (he disappeared.) These were bad dolls, but great quality for BK toys.
>>
>>7339039
I have the doll-dolls in box but the boxes are really battered. Not sure why I don't just unbox them and put them on a stand. I used to love twirling this one around when I was little. And then the one in her regular outfit came with that white dress which my friends and I always assumed was her "going to be burnt at the stake outfit," though in retrospect it probably wasn't supposed to be.
>>
>>7339481
That's actually the one I found. She came with her original dress, but shes in rough shape. Her hair isn't matted but it in no way looks new. There's only one bell left on her dress, and while it's not dirty, ripped or fraying it does look worn. Worst part is that one of her hands is missing a thumb. It must have broken off since its the hand that the doll spins from.

If you do take your's out of the box be careful if you plan on spinning her around. The plastic gets brittle. I've had Mattel dolls from era that have crumbled apart in my hands while trying to remove shoes.

I collected the full set, and I still have them all. In fact I can see them from across the room as I'm typing this. I was really happy to have them at the time because they were the closest thing I had to legit dolls. I even tried making Esmeralda's dress a little fancier by sewing some purple studs onto the dress. I noticed the the gargoyle started getting wrinkled after playing with him in the pool so I bought an extra one for display. I also collected some of the kid meal toys. I still have the ones that are circled in red. I wish I could have had the actual doll-dolls as a kid.

No, there are a lot of internal, and external forces fucking up that movie, and its upcoming doll line. I can't wait for D23 this year
I can't wait to look at all The Little Mermaid dolls that I wont be able to buy because I wont even have access to them because they put them behind a Disney Parks D23 Pay wall event.

You have to pay to travel to Disney World.
Pay for a hotel, and food
Pay to get into the park
Pay to attend D23
And if you want first dibs at the D23 dolls you have to buy a sorcerer's pass.

Or you can pay a scalper $3000 for the doll on ebay

They don't even have to tell me what they are going to do with The Little Mermaid LE doll this year. I already know.

They'll release a very basic lacklustre 17" LE Ariel in a shitty variant dress (probably the pink or blue dress) for a higher price point like $160 because last years designer dolls proved to them that they can get away with it, and the dolls will still sell out.

They will make 17" LE King Triton, Ursula, and a 17" Ariel, and Eric Wedding set D23 exclusives.

Than they will release a really nice looking Mermaid Ariel doll EXCLUSIVELY at SAKS FIFTH AVENUE STORES for $700.

Just got the M2M Dancer at Target! I never knew how much underboob mileage you can get with her.

>and just release the actual doll in her iconic dress at SAKS FIFTH AVENUE STORES for $700.
She was $375

Wasn't the live action LE Cinderella doll $700? I must have confused their price points. Still you get my point.

I want to hate on her just for the heck of hatting on her, but she looks cute in that pic. I just wish that she had a more natural hair color, and that her skin was so dark so I could give her body to my curvy cowboy ginger doll. Shes the only curvy doll I own, and I hate how stiff she is.

I'm not getting on an air plain, and traveling alone just for a doll. Who does that ? I get it if you go with a group of friends or agree to meet up with someone you know while you're there, but to just walking around D23 alone? Getting on an airplane just to to buy a doll would be equally if not sadder than going to a Disney park alone. It sounds majorly depressing. I might as well just make it a one way trip because the depression wouldn't allow me to make it back home. They would find me on the floor in a hotel room next to a 17" LE Mermaid doll.

There's also a lighter skinned curvy doll. Don't know if she's the exact shade as your cowgirl, though.

can you stop shitting up the thread, jesus fucking christ. We get it, you're mad at D23 but refuse to budge in any way. Either you suck it up and pay the scalper price or you suck it up and go to the expo

Here's a photo of her from a different angle if it helps.
>>

She still looks wall eyed.

Well, I'm sorry that my personal opinions trigger you so much, but that's just how I, and many others that I've spoken to feel.
On side note, has it always been you're personal experience that you get what you want after speaking to someone in nasty tone? With me it's always had the opposite effect. Catch more flies with honey...

This is the set that angered a few anons in theses threads back when it was announced that it would be a D23 exclusive. I could care less about the set, but I still understood their frustration.

Yikes. Go cry on your tumblr blog.

Thanks, but my curvy ginger dolls skin tone is so light that it's almost pink. She has the same skin tone as this 1997 Mattel Ariel doll.

I don't really know what thumbler or what a blog is to be honest. I've been using this site, and only this site since 2008. The only other website were I post comments on is Youtube.

Saw this new Animator outfit at the Disney Store today. It's 'free' when you buy a full sized toddle outfit for a real child. I wish they would just sell it separately. It's really cute.

I don't think there's anything that out matches that perfectly but the MtM doll is compatible with the other pale fashionistas.
>>

I'd just buy the outfit for the freebie and return it later.

I love the SNL doll sketches.

This one's a lot better than the Barbie Instagram sketch.

So is Barbie, sweetheart.

She was, but no one in their right mind would buy an expensive live action version of a doll. Not with their hideous face sculpts and mump manjaws.

Wow that was painfully unfunny.
>>

Agreed. They basically took the designer Cinderella face mold, and elongated it a little. Personally, I had been hoping for a Geppetto/Pinocchio set, but I would have bought the Fairly/Pinocchio set just for the cute Pinocchio doll, and his accessories.

The Animator doll dress is attached to the child dress by a small hanger. If I were to get a new or careless cast member I would be fine, however if I get someone who's familiar with their merch they would request the small dress back. It's not worth the risk. I only try things like this when the people working the return desk are foreigners from Haiti, who can barely speak English, and have no concept or understanding of the merch they are selling aka all Walmarts.

Jesus, this was painful to watch. Before clicking I thought it was just going to be another SNL sketch written by a feminist where they shit on men/Ken, or something cruel like when they made fun of male American doll collectors, but I wasn't expecting this level of autism. I can't tell if this is what happens to a comedy show when it tries so hard to be PC that all the actual funny jokes get removed or if it was just written by a first grader that won a contest, where the prize was getting to write an SNL sketch.

I still remember their early 2000s Britney Spears Barbie sketch. It wasn't great, but at least it was trying. What happened?

hey do any of you guys collect Shopkins Shoppies dolls? would they be considered fashion dolls?.. I recently got into them when the first wave of lil' secrets dolls went on clearance at Walmart, I've been avoiding them for years but they've grown on me now. I kinda regret not getting them sooner as it seems the price gets pretty steep for older ones.
