I'm building Rayami because I like keyword soup and sultai without graveyards is interesting.

dockside extortionist is easy to abuse and has a lot going for it, but i don't think it is the best single. anje's ravager is such a boon to boros that doesn't happily slot into many blue decks. it is a good card that i think is being undervalued.

It's okay in a yard deck, but there are a lot of 2 mana rocks you should probably be playing instead. I only play it in Dimir Zombies and Rakdos Madness and even there it's kinda haphazard.

I've got a janky sultai deck with tasigur at the helm but it's more or less the mimeoplasm precon with a bit of the compatible Atraxa parts in too. What should I do to this deck to make it cedh viable. And yes, a complete overall is probably necessary, so
>>
>>67817924
That's not why it's greedy.
I actually don't play back to basics since it ass fucks decks like yours and while I love land hate, it's just not fun to play against decks that can't compete at all.
>>
>>67817901
What about spellslinger? Probe into grafstone doesn't sound too bad. What are the essential 2drop rocks? Signets, talismans, mind stone, feliwar stone, what else?
>>
>>67817947
>only need 2-3 mana to get rid of back to basics
it doesn't ass fuck that hard. people in my group play it, everyone but the derevi player look to remove it as soon as possible. it might stick around a turn cycle, but it is not backbreaking, and you know it.
>>
>>67817988
Being out of the game for 2-3 turns is backbreaking. I guess you guys durdle hard.
>>
>>67817998
>2-3 turns
but the player is usually lucky if it sticks around one turn. it is a piece that causes the whole table to find some sort of agreement to get rid of it. no one wants it around and rarely does someone not have some sort of removal. if the player can make it stick and evade removal then it can start doing damage, but it takes a lot to get it to stay. unless you are playing muldrotha
>>
>>67818134
>it is a piece that causes the whole table to find some sort of agreement to get rid of it
I will often let a B2B stick around. Locking a 3/4 color player out is 100% worth being down 1-2 mana on a cycle.

That said another one of the reasons I don't run it in my one blue deck is because I like tables to be able to correct themselves, so while I may not be too negatively affected by it, it might prevent one deck from presenting and getting an answer to a particular problem from idk some mono green player that I can't deal with or don't want to blow.
It's like Teferi and T3feri basically read target player wins unless you have the answer right now. Guaranteeing that one player only has to play through a single opponent's disruption instead of potentially 3 is not worth it.
>>
>>67806996
Build her like ghetto Memeoplasm, dont include any other silver bordered cards. If you try to go for „chaos” memes your playgroup may be no longer tolerating your general and I reckon you wanna avoid that.

>45 pictures of floating rocks
Nah. The border itself is terrible, and the landscapes can start looking a little samey because they all use zendikars fucking floating rocks. If they were able to draw these landscapes without all needing that it would have been much better.
If they actually made the cards textless full arts it would have been much better.
Thats 3 big misses.
>>
Thermo-alchemist, electrostatic field, guttersnipe and firebrand archer: which are worth it in a spellslinger deck? (jori en)
>>
>>67819022
While textless would be cool, it's not exactly practical for a wide variety of options. The border is meh, but I really like the floaty space rock Zendikar aesthetic. I feel they could be more visually distinct but I like the flavour of having a variety of lands on the same plane.

Eatherflux, Sentinel Tower, some copy cards for your Fireballs. Labman if you can draw your deck out. Slap a Curiosity on one of your pingers.
>>
>>67819399
It's between that or keranos, the deck will probably be about the same either way. I just like jori more. Most izzet commanders don't seem interesting to me
>>
>>67819399
I'd wager it's better if you can get her to trigger on other people's turns too
>>
>>67819418
That's the biggest problem with Izzet, the commanders are narrow and a lot of memefags love it. I ran keranos, it's usually a much better option unless you're value grinding.
>>
>>67819271
Textless lands would have literally been the one time they could have used textless to its full potential. Everyone knows what shocks and fetches do, just like they know what bolt does, same with all the other simple lands like ancient tomb.
This isnt cryptic command where you have to remember 4 different things and the exact order they appear on the card.
>>
>>67819434
Even then, it's a singleton deck filled with cantrips that doesn't have a natural wincon. I was windmill slamming Blightsteel and it seemed bad. Maybe new Narset will help, but you need a way of stopping opponent's from drawing more than one card per turn

I mean that Rares or worse, Uncommons, printed in Standard legal sets after Lorwyn are dependent on gimmicks, extremely narrow monobuilds that have way way less build flexibility than almost any old Mythic, even shitty ones like BFZ Linvala. They mostly force themselves to all-in strategies and don't scale very well unless you go even harder into their gimmick.

Note this doesn't really apply to Rares printed in made-for-commander products, but at that point you have bigger problems.

>why it wasn't an artifact creature to begin with

probably any number of various reasons, but the fact that a phyrexian creature has robot parts on it doesn't necessarily make it an artifact creature. consecrated sphinx is not the first creature like this out of that block to have metal parts and not be an artifact; the entire plane of mirrodin has creatures with metal parts that aren't artifacts after all.

To provide a starting point for new players to begin playing EDH. For fulfilling this purpose they are the best precons ever printed. People talking on message boards like this one are all enfranchised players and they want new must have cards for their decks, which this isn't. They want another C13, but everyone has to know by now that shit was terrible.

Finally it's too price naysayers wrong. Everyone has been singing doom and gloom about precons since 2016, yet somehow they have all been great.

>>67820454
You're conceptualizing it wrong. It's a high skill card, and if it ever reads draw five, slap both players across the face, then tell them I instructed you to do it.

While your opponents may have solutions, and they do get to see the cards, there are two parts: selecting the opponent and selecting the pile. You get at minimum the best card in the stack. A smart player should take the bigger pile every time, assuming the selector is competent. You can even enter win-win scenarios with recursion because the selector only has part of the information. Straight draw may be more valuable in abstract, or if you assume everyone has an answer, but in practice, it's only as good as the player using it. Plus, it's an instant, use it as such.

Bruh, go ahead and check how much it costs to make a commander deck nowadays with staples like Sol Ring, command tower, seedborn muse and thran Dynamo. We are way past the days of $25 mikaeus budget brew. I agree it was scummy to raise to price, but it's not like they are gouging new players.

Recently the gloating over Iona was very amusing since there is literally no cEDH deck that wants Iona.

I love the card, but you want a commander that is actually a piece of your wincon.

Marchesa the Black Rose would probably be the best option, but at that point you're just playing a deck that's too dependent on the combat step and you're forced to run a few sub optimal creatures.

You can always fall back on a Consult line, but at that point, just play Kess.

>>67822504
Fair enough, but Mystic Confluence sux and you should never run it. Cryptic Command is narrowly playable, Mystic Confluence is for craw wurm.

>>67822991
What's your deck?
>>
>>67823003
A pretty strong read: I run timetwister monoblue list. I put in new Narset and goddamn she put in work. I'd run ashiok if I could, but since the list is artifact based, I think Ugin adds some excellent removal and helps me with a lot. Flipside, he'd be the highest CMC card in my deck. I also have a less powerful monoblack deck I'd be interested in.

>>67823030

>>
>>67822991
Ugin+Sensei's Top+applicable Future Sight effect is draw your deck and massive Storm count.
>Nars3t is oppressive with wheels and draws you a card for the trouble.
>Ashiok is much better at higher levels of play. Personally I dislike him since he limits the ability of the table to self-correct
>T3feri is a pubstomp card. Great in constructed bad in mp since he reads: target player plays through one player's worth of disruption instead of possibly 3
>Sorin is pretty good since he isn't likely to eat removal and his loyalty gets really high easily.
>Gideon is surprisingly good in Enchantress type decks that can easily recur and recast enchantments for triggers. He's great with Rancor.
>Liliana is solid in aristocrats
>Jace is Labman pt. II
>Ajani is good in Superfriends
>Tamiyo is good against Aristocrats and is just easy value in UGx

Nothing else is worth running.

Is cheerios fun to play? Do you run any land destruction or just focus on storming off?
>>
>>67823130
I'd argue that Saheeli is good in any spellslinger or artifact based deck, hell even enchantress could get lods of value out of her.
>>
>>67822420
I run her a ton. She's pure control; counterspells, edicts, board wipes, instant-speed filters (Impulse clones) and wins through commander damage via cheap equipment (Jitte, Runechanter's, Blackblade Reforged maybe)
Flash + self-bounce makes her perfect for the strategy. Unless you play like an idiot, she never dies, and nobody even wants to try to remove her.
I've honestly found her to be the only commander that is actually capable of going the distance, consistently, with commander damage. So many Voltron-style commanders just get shit on by removal and wipes, but she sticks no matter what, and flash lets her skirt around almost everything that can take her out.
So yeah, pure control + just a touch of the best Voltron pieces to help her get to 21/63.
A few Manlands to carry your weapons in case you can't get her to stick also help; Inkmoth + Runechanter's is hilarious.
>>

>>
>>67822598
I'd disagree. Running Mystic as a 5CMC counterspell is bad, or a 5CMC draw-3 at instant speed is pretty poor, but the flexibility makes it viable, especially for that bounce 3. Cryptic, for example, usually is just "1UUU - Counter target spell, draw a card", which is terrible. It's the usability of the other modes, the bounce and the tap down, that make it usable and even good.

Most charms are over costed for their effects, but the sheer number of them makes them good as their card economy is higher than the number of other, cheaper cards that would accomplish the same effects.

I wouldn't run Mystic in a hyper-tuned meta, but it does very well in 75% from my experience.

man, wotc has really been riding the avengers thing hard, haven't they? war prerelease was opening weekend of endgame, has a card called "commence the endgame," super big bad with godlike powers associated with the colour purple, all the PW are like all the superheroes that show up in endgame, Teferi, Time (t)Raveler, and I'm sure there are a bunch more parallels. not to mention maro explicitly stating multiple times that jace is their "mickey mouse," and that they like follow disney where they can.

Sideboards or "wishboards" are not in the rules for EDH and are specifically mentioned as such.

that won't stop the argument from happening, and people are so commited they will bring up the "house rules" section next, and again claim that it is a "casual" format. people don't put up as much of a fight to keep playing wrong when it is the banlist they are going up against, at least in my experience.

This. I don't think of it as a counterspell as much as something you can use as a counterspell.

You know, I'll say if you're playing Melek, then Confluence could be a pretty wild draw spell, but even then.

1 set of krav/regna to play, 12 to sit on. t3ysa was good for me, but im gonna keep sitting. they aren't going to reprint anytime soon, unless they decide to put partner with commanders as reprints in a future commander set. i could see them doing that for reprints of will/rowan, krav/regna, and pir/toothy. other 3 partner with pairs are garbo, so i don't know who they'd pick for the last one.

Torn on trying mono-red out.
I have a list made, but can still be revised, for Varchild. I can probably put together a list for Pashalik Mons, which I could easily imagine as just Impact Tremors and sac outlets, and maybe new Krenko, which would functionally be pretty similar to Varchild.

Then as always there's the Big Red Neheb meme,
>>

I respect Zirilan, but dragons aren't my thing. Varchild and Pashalik aren't going to get any old-border cred, but they're unpopular enough and have some coherency that I can work with and enjoy myself.
Though my hesitation with Pashalik is being haunted by the Purphoros that I'm obligated to run alongside Impact Tremors. But that's a $20-30 card, could be worse

I take back Neheb. Pre-WAR Neheb is too popular. God, it's just mono-red dragons doesn't get my engine running.

Anybody got secret tech for my slimy mimey? I'm looking for ways to make her flip earlier and safer, as well as interesting ways to use the mana once I get it. My group has some players who run highly competitive decks, and some who run jank, so I want some of each in the deck.

SOme cards I could see being banned, but the problem is I don't agree with anyone else on exactly which cards should be banned.

>>
>>67828114
That is a REALLY hard card to flip, but it's got some real payoff. Most of the tech I can think of is outside of mono-green though.. oof. (Color-shifted Endless Horizons WHEN!?)
Abundance is a thing. Dryad Greenseeker.... Life from the Loam obviously, simple stuff like the Mulch clones (Winding Way, etc.), Realms Uncharted (with any graveyard recursion, it gets you 4)..
The Great Aurora for some serious jank?

Elder Pine of Jukai + Spirit tribal?

Yeah, I can't imagine Sasaya flipping very fast, considering you also want to play a land every turn. As for payoffs, holy shit you'd actually have enough mana to unironically with Helix Pinnacle, without doing any counter-doubling cheese... damn
