Anyone built Kykar?I've got the last 15 cards for mine in the post - it's definitely a 0.75 version of the deck but feel like it'll perform.
>>67209544>Teferi doesn't inherently make a deck strong, though. I'm not even running stasis or ChainveilIt's strong as fuck anon. Top tier commanders are there for a reason.
>you loved X legendary creature / and/or combo and many of your casual kitched table / modern / decks where built arround it>you start playing EDH because your friends are playing now>you build your deck arround said creature / combo using one of your casual decks as template>over time it somehow was discovered as "THAT ONE DECK" on some event and now it's netdecked by tryhards and is now despised by many>unaware of that you assist at an event>you are disqualified on game 1 because your deck is "that unfun deck"whats it's name guys for me it's Arcum Dagsson
>>67209669Thrasios is top tier because he's an infinite mana sink in 4 colors. Tymna is along for the ride in a cEDH build just for the colors.i'm doing basically the opposite, it's a Tymna deck with tons of weenies and Thrasios is there for colors and is also a weenie.
>the thread is either incels thirsting over big titty Teysa edits or sissys fantasising about being raped by Sheldon Menery
>>67209630I'd say in a meta where people are at least okay at Magic good threat assessment is removing them. They're cheap, efficient and insane value engines. They don't need to work with your deck to be good, but I'd also argue that unless you know what someone is running aggro based on commander choice is good decision making.
>>67209703To be clear, your justification is nice and all, but it literally doesn't matter if your group doesn't buy it. Just build solo Tymna if that's what your deck is and you'll have a better time!
>>67207440Well, he kills fast with Commander damage. I guess you could slap a Whispersilk Cloak and maybe something to boost his power a little, he doesn't even need thatm uch of a boost ot become a 2-hit kill. Give him Lifelink somehow too. He does well with Lifegain, you basically control the board and creatures live and die at your whimsy if you can gain sufficient life.
>>67209772i'm not really looking for advice, just complaining. i'm happy with the way the deck functions, just wish people didn't assume i was a cEDH dickshit and focus me down.
Probably either pic related, Whispersilk Cloak, or Panharmonicon. I like to put Collar of pimp daddy Purphuros, just shit out a couple goblin tokens and gain 40 life in one turn.

So having watch the recent Command Zone Podcast commander summit, what does /tg/ think about some of the proposed rule changes? (This doesn't mean they're being actively considered by the rules comittee, just ideas thrown out there by a few members)1. starting life being 30 instead of 402. Tracking commander damage collectively instead of individually, but increasing the amount needed to eliminate a player3. First person to assign combat damage becomes the monarch, introducing it to the format as a rule, not just if someone plays a card with monarch rules on it.
>>67210579>Tracking commander damage collectively instead of individually, but increasing the amount needed to eliminate a playerso it'd strictly exist as a counter to lifegain decks? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
>>67210579>1.Stupid. Who cares? 40 is enough life, get wizards to print more edh burn and aggro if that's the issue.>2.I buy that. The rule takes way too many dice. 30 commander damage would be about right for a 4 person game.>3.Fuck ya baby, now we're talking. I fucks with that, because you're encouraging interaction, eliminating the "I go first" advantage, and promoting more attacks. That is an excellent suggestion.I have a suggestion:>before you draw, you can skip that draw, and your ability to play any card or attack with any creature, to tutor one basic land of any colour tapped to the battlefield. Snowbasics do not count.
>>67210579I like starting at 30 instead of 40. Games tend to drag a little toward the end, this would help it a bit, I think. Tracking Commander damage collectively makes for easier bookkeeping, so I can see why they'd do that.
What are the best Draw Spells in Dimir at 2 cmc?
>>67210579>1. starting life being 30 instead of 40No>2. Tracking commander damage collectively instead of individually, but increasing the amount needed to eliminate a playerIt's EDH, not Table Highlander>3. First person to assign combat damage becomes the monarch, introducing it to the format as a rule, not just if someone plays a card with monarch rules on it.Good lord no. Literally the only things people will play would be pillowfort.Fuck durdlers.
>>67206827It's still paradox engine. A literal perpetual motion machine that perpetually casts spells. What's not to like about that?
>>67210697Bulk draw or pseudo draw? You're probably looking for lim-dul's vault, demonic consultation, tainted pact, nights whisper, brainstorm, sign in blood, preordain and some niche shit depending on a few factors. Not including just straight tutors.
>>67210579>new IPFuck off, shill.>>67210692>I fucks with that, because you're encouraging interactionNo sweetie. It only looks that way. What it actually does is increase the chance of player one getting the extra draw, and being able to hold onto it.
>>67210754>lim-dul's vaultPerfect. This is actually what I wanted, just blanked.
>>67210697You want CMC = 2 or CMC <=2?
>>67210033Well, you're playing THE best commanders in the format.
>>67210775Specifically 2, but it was >>67210754>Lim-Dul's Vault that I actually wanted.
>>67210762Nah man, you're going to have unlockable creatures and like dryad arbor to sneak in that first attack. Rouges passage goes in every deck. Even competitive lists would shift to be more creature oriented to take advantage of it. Red hastey creatures unironically get a huge power boost. You can't pillow fort hard enough to keep it until later turns, and if you do, you still need a creature to swing, which also makes trample way more valuable>t. sadistic Stax player
>>67210579How long until the community switches to "Classic Commander" and ignores the retarded rules committee's "rules changes" and their NuEDH EDH variant.
>>67210837>Rouges passageBased retard.
>>67210837>Rouges passage goes in every deck. Even competitive lists would shift to be more creature oriented to take advantage of it.this dude can't be serious
>>67210579>1. starting life being 30 instead of 40no, 40 life is a staple of commander and changing it makes no sense outside of cEDH which is a meme anyway>2. Tracking commander damage collectively instead of individually, but increasing the amount needed to eliminate a playerthis is an ok change, makes aggro commanders more viable i guess. not sure if its worth changing a core rule of commander though. it isnt exactly hard to bring 3 extra dice>3. First person to assign combat damage becomes the monarch, introducing it to the format as a rule, not just if someone plays a card with monarch rules on it.not a fan of this rule. i used to think it would be a good idea because it would help boros or mono white but in reality it would just make shit like edric even better
>>67210912I deserve that.>>67210986You're underestimating how strong monarch is. Tons of decks run shitty etbs for competitive strats, suddenly being able to steal monarch with one is a huge advantage.
>you get the monarch>I cast notion thiefgg ezThere are some stupid motherfuckers ITT.
>>67210692>>67210722I'll adress both of you guys at the same time if that's alright with you guys.>30 lifeIt reduces life as a resource, as well as shortening games. It's not a big change, but it would also help aggro decks whereas right now control and combo decks dominate the meta and aggro is considered UP.>combining commander damageI personally like this just from a bookkeeping standpoint. Tracking commander damage is a fucking nightmare right now, especially when you consider if someone is using partner commanders, or a blue player steals someone else's commander. It would also open up a little more in the way of politics, but is a welcome buff to voltron decks imo. >monarchdurdler decks *are* the meta right now. this forces you to interact with eachother, and would be a welcome helping hand to aggro, once again. (also, i hope you consider them one at a time, and not all at once)
Why the fuck are the tymna and ravos so fucking much? and why did i buy that precon?
>>67207792Sunder, Mana Vortex, Mana BreachCoral Atol + Amulet of Vigor
>>67210579Starting life must be 30 for white people only. That's the only way to make the game fair and balanced so we can have a more diverse and fun playerbase!
>>67210851You haven't? Magic is in the hands of child molesters and people who feel joy from cutting their dick off. There's no sticking with this sinking ship. it can only get worse from here on out. I can't imagine the insane bullshit we're going to be getting for the next year or so until wizards goes bankrupt.
>>67210579>Tracking commander damage collectively instead of individually, but increasing the amount needed to eliminate a playerThis seems very fiddly and is too dependant on playgroup. if the new number is too big then it will completely kill solo Voltron players in their playgroups. If it's too small then shit turns into sudden death with too many of them.
>>67211070>this forces you to interact with eachother>>67211064I don't want you to address me any further until you get out from silly craw wurm meta where you even dare to run so little removal that combo is even a problem for you.>control dominates a 4 player gamegit gud, only Kami has infinite counterspells

>>67208717Those aren’t muscles, are they? I hadn’t realized his tumors were that bad.
>>67211249>Dimir is the *minimum*Wow what a terrible thing, never seen a combo or a control deck running those.
Hello, Gamers. I have a question. If I have a creature with lifelink and [[Sunbond]] attached to it, would casting [[Arcbond]] upon it taking lethal damage save it from death by getting the counters from Sunbond?
>>67207191How you gonna get any of those cards into play when Chimera bro is blocking the way. Quite a perplexing situation.
>>67207383SCG has them up for like 50 cents. Over 200 of them.
>>67210579The first one just seems like something private tables should decide. I prefer 40, but like to switch to 30 sometimes for shorter games. The standard should remain 40.The second is pretty bad. Would make things needlessly complicated. It takes away the purpose of commander damage, which is to provide a win condition you have to strive for, to give aggro decks legs in the format. Communitizing it makes is far less of a challenge, and makes politics horrible. The last one is great.
>>67211070>Tracking commander damage is a fucking nightmare right nowNo it isn't.
>>67207440Isnt he just a worse yawgmoth?
>>67211298>[[card name]]Go back.
>>67211298It would die because Sunbond is a trigger. While that trigger is on the stack, the creature would die from taking lethal damage.
Ok so, all the Paradox Engine came with a large grunt from Sheldor complaining of getting cucked by dragged out combos in SCGCon. For me when playing cEDH Paradox was fine and fun. When playing casually I never got to see any Paradox being played. I know Sheldor doesn't play with cEDH players so I guess it was a casual build using it. How do you guys used or saw Paradox Engine used to end up pissing off Sheldor and ban it?
>>67210579>Make commander damage into basically poison counters>Give the person with the fastest start and advantage to deliver first blood the Monarch.
>>67207462Corpse Knight might be up your alley
>>67211210I never said whether or not I agree with any of those points. I just asked what you guys thought about them. If you think that even discussing the potential ramifications of these necessitates support for them, then you need to socialize with people more so you stop jumping to so many conclusions. Allow me to give you my personal opiions on them so you can stop making assumptions.1. I can take or leave 30 life. Don;t really care one way or the other. Personally, not a bad change. I think burn decks and aggro decks benefit, but I think they'll still fall short of control/combo.2. As someone else said, collective commander damage is finicky and would require very specific adjustment, but it almost never matters as it is now, so I'm open to change, I guess. Plus bookkeeping on seperate damage is annoying atm.3. i like monarch, but I think i'd prefer just introducing more monarch cards.
>>67207872You suck megacock Sheldon. Thanks for ruining the format. Primeval titan did nothing wrong.

>>67211353I was planning on taking it out of my deck that runs it, anyways, actually. I think the banning comes from "creates and unfun play environment", and honestly, when it went off, it went OFF in my deck. But that led to some really long turns where my group would have to wait too long for me to finish my turn for me to be comfortable with. I think it got banned just because it ended up with people just itting around waiting forever for one guy to sinally finish drawing and playing half his deck one card at time. >>67211360If you don't like the idea, cool, but mind explaining why?

Just here to post that it annoys me to no end that so many red cards have been errata'd from target creature or player to any target.
>>67210579>point number 3 combined with point number 1wow what order do they lose the game in first? The collective 30 commander damage or the 30 damage?
>>67211470There's nothing inherently wrong with that. It all depends on the reason why. Just copying someone else's decklist because you're bad at deckbuilding and not because you think that particular deck will give you a huge edge isn't really any different from buying a precon.
>>67211353It slowed down games too much, especially when it come down to combos. Considering that they didn't focus on cEDH but just regular EDH when deciding on the ban, I can see why the would want to ban it from casual environments, must be a fucking nightmare to have to sit there and watch someone that barely knows how to play the game fiddle around for 30 minutes trying to combo off with it.
>>67211747>2 things happen simultaneously that cause you to lose. Which happens first?Does it matter? Throw them on the stack in whatever order you want, I guess. You also fail to take life gain or non-commander damage into account in that scenario.
>>67211455yes, it's absolutely EPIC
>>67211819You dont know what a largely aggro meta looks like then anon. Collective commander damage means the weaker aggro decks will just team up and just try to use eachother to win. Ive seen turns where multiple players were doing 18+ damage on t4 with their commander, ignoring the damage their other creatures are doing. Fuck they would have to ban duelists heritage because I can just give the prossh or skullbriar player's commander doublestrike in exchange for teamups.
>>67210781not even truecompetitive decks are singleton vintage combo lists, the commanders are just there for colors and mana sinks. General Tazri is top tier competitive, but that doesn't mean she's at all powerful outside of the combo deck.
What's a funny commander that can cheese people hard and can be done on a relatively small budget?
>>67212038Just fun. Not funny.
>>67210579>First person to assign combat damage becomes the monarch, introducing it to the format as a rule, not just if someone plays a card with monarch rules on it.>play Rhys turn 1>swing into anyone and sit behind exponentially growing army of tokens with consistent free card advantage
>>67206827>TQEtched ChampionSpeaking of artifacts I’m building a 5c equipment list. Budget is around 200. How would you spend the money on the deck?
>>67212109buy a sliver queen :^)
>>67211956>Players team up and use each other to winWhat... Like... In a game of commander? You mean like what literally already happens in virtually every game, just not usually with aggro?(Also, bans usually don't happen when things are strong, just when they create "feel bads" in casual playgroups. Like why iona was banned)>>67211991That's literally part of why it was suggested. Combo decks and control decks take a bit of a hit because a rule like this would increase the effectiveness of voltron and aggro decks, which are largely considered subpar in the commander format.I'm not trying to sound like a dick, so I apologize if it comes off that way, but it sounds like most of your issue with the rules is something along the lines of "but I don't have enough creatures to stop that in my deck". Which is kind of the point. It makes the combat step more important.
>>67212140I don’t think slivers need equipment, Anon.
>>67212056There are ways to make creatures unblockable, as well as cards that just give you the monarch when you play them.
>>67212223sure, but an early head start is incredibly meaningful when you're a deck that scales really hard. besides, unblockable creatures aren't too common outside of Beckett Brass meme decks and tribal ninjas, neither of which shows up all too often.
>>67212109https://edhrec.com/themes/equipmentwhy go 5 colors? you can go jeskai and it'll be essentially the same build.
>>67211321I'll just have to buy for scg then I guess just made me hmmm when I saw they were gone.
>>67212259Now see that's a fair, reasoned, calm argument and I appreciate that. Now IMO, creatures with evasion such as flying, menace, intimidate, unblockable, etc. would become more relevant. There are tons of them, but they're not worth running if that's all they do with things currently as they are. However, if Monarch was a staple mechanic in the format, creatures like this would be more relevant (as would trample), as well as artifacts that give other creatures similar evasion. It would also benefit decks like the Odric that lets you decide blockers.
>>67212349i literally just built a deck running 22 1-drop creatures with evasion. if this rule was implemented i'd be hella down for it.
>>67212383>Of course I play UG, how could you tell?

So how worthwhile is Risen Reef in Maelstrom Wanderer? At the very worst it's a Coiling Oracle for 1 more, but my deck already runs a handful of other creatures that are incidentally Elementals (including Wanderer itself). Hell, cascading into it with Wanderer is pretty good too since you'd get 2 (or even possibly 3) triggers.

So the play group I'm part of has just agreed that we are no long going to be using Sol Ring or Mana Crypt. I'd originally posted this but as Mana Vault but that was just me fucking upAnyone interested in some follow up on how it goes?
>>67212349You're advocating changing deck building in order to win or to stop your opponent from winning/having fun (which is more important than actually winning).
>>67213427Only if you're running high power level decks that can go off crazy fast. Mid to weak decks without SR and MC are just eh whatever, but otherwise yes details please.

>>67213427i already don't play sol ring or mana cryptbut that's just because my deck is fast and mana intensive and they'd actually be bad in it
>>67213464I'm not advocating anything. I've already said that IMHO, the best thing to do isn't change the rules to make monarch default, but print more cards utilizing the mechanic. That way it's more accessible for playgroups that like it, but if your playgroup doesn't, then you can leave it out.I'm just discussing possible ramifications of a particular change to the rules.
Also, friendly reminder that the ban list is just a suggestion (it even says so in the official rules)
>>67213781It's not when events play by that liat
>>67213781...that most people agree to because it is human nature to pivot around a central authority.
>>67213348>greenUseless for my enchantress deck
>>67213660That's a Sorcery though? That won't break his lock, it'd have to be an instant. That way when he doesn't pay the upkeep cost, loses the Ritual of Subdual, and puts it back on top of his library you can float two white mana and cast your exile spell on his turn after it resolves. If it's just a Sorcery, you'd have to play it on your turn. you know, when all your lands only make colorless. You'd need a white mana rock to do this, which you might not have. Use Forsake the Worldly to break this lock.
>>67210579>monarchfuck gay uninteractable bullshit, monarch was a mistake as was every card with it printed on it
>>67213851I mean I guess if you go to events for commander? It's the most kitchen table format there is, but to each their own.>>67213886If you have a stable playgroup, you can always just talk to them to determine what cards from the banlist are or aren't okay in your group. (Just for example, my group is "anything but Vorinclex". We just agree to keep it around a stable power level.)
>>67214167i mean, that's the idea. it's very interactable if you're playing a creature deck, but not so much if you're playing straight combo. they're basically trying to encourage players to hit each other more instead of sitting around durdling until someone draws their combo.
>>67214167>Someone likes something I don't like RRREEEEEEEEE
>>67214167>uninteractableJust deal damage or kill them during your turn bro, it's not that hard.
>>67213781Instead of it being a suggestion, the RC should have an explicit differentiation for all the mouthbreathers, between Public and Playgroup. The banlist is for public play. I hate seeing all this discussion of a "social contract", when like, have you fuckers ever been stuck playing at an LCS? You take whoever comes to the table or you don't play. People already can comprehend different cards being accepted between different playgroups, how would a public banlist be any different than playing with a new playgroup that doesn't like what your old playgroup did? Also, what's rich in that dumb commander's quarters video: a playgroup deciding that certain cards or archetypes being unfun in the group IS telling people how to play the game. If he wants to be some free speech warrior about commander, no more social contract. If you're being absolutist about NEVER dictating how to play the game, then yeah sit down to hours of the same stax asshole until he finally bores of it, agreeing to disinvite him is oppressing his right to enjoy playing solitaire.
>TQTrading Post. My most wanted a commander is Mardu Commander that just has trading post as it's text back, probably modified with a hybrid mana to activate the abilities.

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/2083663#paperSo this is my Goblin Krenko deck. It uses tinstreet kingpin Krenko as a second commander sorta, where most of my cards dont help him out directly, moreso they help my main commander. Some cards have +1/+1 yes, but not a heap. Also, a blue/red player today got mad at me for not having spot removal for a black enchantment as mono red AND for having 1 of my 2 blue spot removals in my hand, so idk if I want them even tho I think they're neato burrito
