How does your character interact with others? What is your party dynamics?
>>66256582In my current party my character and another player's are adoptive siblings about the same age. My character is female, his is male. My character torments his endlessly because she knows she can get away with it, partially because of the bratty-sister karma shield, partially because the player is prone to stupid decisions which often cause him just as more or more grief on his own or justifies what my character does to his. The other guy in the party is pretty chill and she has a pretty standard professional coworker relationship with him.
>>66256582>emotional guy>strong in his own waynever seen this, they're always useless
>>66256735YMMV but Ron from Kim Possible could qualify. He's a badass, though he doesn't realize it himself because he's always comparing himself to Kim. More commonly they tend to be pretty smart and nigh endless fonts of plot relevant information that help keep the story moving.
>>66256582Protective + Shy with bonus size difference is best dynamic, and it works with either gender playing either role.

>>66257353Frodo was fucking useless and needed Sam to carry him.
>>66256735Honestly it's just the phrasing of "strong in his own way" that ruins it. There are lots of emotional guys but when they strong they are just strong. It's the classical hero type, when he's happy he laughs, when he's sad he cries and when there is a job to be done he throws himself into passionately. He celebrates his success and doesn't try to conceal his failure. I know a couple guys like this, some are your standard chad types with strange hint of something I guess you could call "extra humanity." The more meek seeming or effeminate types are actually kind of scary because they seem sort of mild at first glance until you realize they are crazy driven and capable of taking some really fucking bizarre actions. But once again once you know these people you stop saying they are "strong in their own way" because you realize they are just strong. I mean even >>66256809 >>66257353 as examples are just competent characters. One is basically teenage special ops and the other volunteers to care the locus of ancient evil into hell. Those are both objectively strong people, they just don't go about it with the usual stoicism or pretense of bravado.

>>66260875Anon, the Yakuza on principle considers itself to consist of societal outcasts. A large minority consists of Japanese-Koreans, who are also discriminated against.Even the name "Yakuza" literally comes from the name for the worst hand in a traditional Japanese Card Game, because the group is supposed to be made up of people who were "Dealt a bad hand" in life

Paladin (me): used to be stern but caring figure with a sad backstory. started with a redemption story and excitement but was told a secret of his past, afterwards was never the same. now caring and stern but with no respect for the world.Gunslinger: bro who was a goblin wrangler, which got him good at using a pistol. essentially a cowboy with a strong sense of justice and a height complex because was the tallest halfling in his home villageSorcerer: weird macguyver character. was a scientists who went crazy. makes some cringey decisions but overall ok.Wizard: hackerman? his backstory is just stole a book learned magic at a young age for some retarded reason. steals from shops and shit for no reason. kind of a cunt Ranger: was a monster hunter, and continues to stay monsters. has ridiculously good rolls because of insane modifiers. dm always gives him fucking terrain bonus. other Paladin: new guy, he just joined. his character is named fucking ya boi. pic related.

My retarded think of a Druid is the youngest and most enthusiastic member of the party. He idolizes the ranger and turns to her for protection, leadership, and support and usually she’s so busy being stoic she outright ignores him. He’s scared of our warlock but is nevertheless intrigued- which annoys her because she’s coy and withholding. We’ve got a crusty old rogue who’s a pragmatic scumbag and the Druid nags him about morality but they’ve also warmed up and become bros and mentor/mentee in a way.My character wants to be much closer with the others while they hold him at arms length more often than not.

My barbarian is loud, brash, and impatient but extremely idealistic and self-sacrificing. Our conquest paladin just kinda does whatever I want because my barb treat him like he's "wise" because he can breath fire (dragonborn) and the two are really good bros that push boulders together and stuff. The ranger girl in our group is always trying to make things complicated and overthink things, and I know she finds my barbarian annoying because if things are taking too long I just go Leeroy Jenkins on everything while she's comping up with "tactics" or trying to talk our way out of combat. The rogue in our group is either playing with his phone or plotting to "steal shit while everybody's asleep", so he's mostly just background to the rest.

>>66257915Uh, no? Did you even read the fucking book? Frodo was able to bear the ring virtually the whole way without being corrupted, something that takes an enormous amount of willpower. Sam, Pippin, Merry, hell probably Aragorn or Gimli wouldn't have been able to do it. Wouldn't it have made more sense to give it to one of them if they had?
>>66260889Reminder that divorce rates are skewed because of serial marriages who get divorced repeatedly, and most marriages actually last.
>>66256582Current character's relationship with another PC is a weird mix of top left and bottom right.Externally fits the "usually serious/stoic edgy guy/bad boy" niche, internally very emotionally-driven and sentimental, but represses expression of same because he's uncomfortable with his own vulnerability. She's externally more the Cinnamon Roll type, but has seemingly zero confidence issues and his true to herself on the regular, which he respects tremendously while also finding completely incomprehensible whenever he tries to think of how he could be more like that.
>>66269182But anon, he wanted to whine about how the feminists are evil bad people who are never good and women who aren't naturally submissive to subpar men are undesirable.
My current party is a bit of a shitshow, two beast races, one of which can't talk, and two exaggerated stereotypes, only one of which is endearing.
>>66256582My Wizard has become the voice of reason in party (the party dad for the most part)
>>66261349>The samurai aren't going to do their own butchering.Really unfortunate choice of words there.
>>66256582My character is a young cavalier who desperately wants to be like his idol adventurers and is often overly brash and hotheaded when dealing with action and strategy, and part of his fantasy is that he wants to be like those heroes who romance a hundred different princesses from all kinds of kingdoms, or manage to pull a different tavern wench into bed every night, but when it comes down to it he spills his spaghetti super hard and starts to make excuses.Basically think Brock from Pokemon but he's the one that pulls his own ear should a female actually reciprocate. I wanted to play it for laughs and as a possible chance for future character development, not to actually ERP anything with my DM.I don't think he'd fit into any of the roles in the OP. He would like to see himself as the top right blue guy but falls totally short.
>>66257353Book Frodo was a stone cold fucker until the stairs. Peter Jackson's Frodo was a wimp who relied to much on everyone else early on and had no spine. He becomes soft on only one other person besides Sam during the journy. He also accepts death as early as Lothlorian but carries on. Book Frodo is a reluctant hero, movie Frodo is a fuckboi with too much responsibility who has to be carried from the shire to mordor.
>>66256582Our party consists of:>Angus Tatzel, sharkman artificer and fighter with a hobby of sculpting and a noncombatant streak.>Teenage Genius King Blatney (self-titled, but is an actual king), artificer with a walker mech in the style of a throne and enough screws loose to fit into any mad scientist role.>Dovely, timid elven druid/berserker with a murderous and violent split personality disorder triggering when smelling freshly cut wood.>Sir Vaughnan, nondescript paladin-turned-blackguard.>Meks, the kender commoner at odds with her own nature. My character's interactions are thus:>Angus tends to ignore battle until it's absolutely clear his help is needed, and usually spends his time sculpting statues and murals out of the variety of stones he gathered on his way.>Holds up good-natured snarking and japery with Blatney - battle brothers-esque.>Finds Dovely annoying since he's the only one who can hold her back until her berserk rage subsides.>Has no opinion on Vaughnan - Vaughnan's player never played alignment, so really all that happened is that Vaughnan got blackguard powers for not being paladiny enough.>Approves of Meks and her attempts at resisting the kender's intrinsic kleptomania. Is the first to defend her when she very rarely slips up.As for party dynamics, we've sort of devolved into a bootleg Thousand Sunny crew with Blatney replacing Luffy. Which would make Angus a sort of composite Zoro/Usopp, I guess.

I hope to get a chance to change his worldview before the campaign ends, because it's not gonna end well otherwise>Mind Mage:often self-centered when shit goes down. otherwise bro-tier, has saved the party several times through creative use of game mechanics>Shadow Archer:Absolute bro, the sould of the party. Started by having fun, then went out of his way to make everything and everyone better. The GM handed him a little too much leniancy at some point but it's been better since then>Wind Seer:Kind of self-centered, the character itself is rather bland>Earth Knight:resident lorefag & party face, tries his hardest to strategise & wrangle the party in a somewhat competent direction. It was just Gandalf's lack of faith, not Aragon's inability. But it has been a long time.

>>66256582I try to pull off a Sorcerer Cleric that lives completely by his own Chaotic Good code, meaning he will do things against his god to promote whatever he truly believes is the right thing to do (and he has a strange relationship with his Lawful Good deity because of that). Most likely the strongest character in the party, and also the oldest in the multi-year campaign at this point, I feel like others feel overshadowed by what my character does. Because whenever my Sorcerer really wants to do something impactful (and this doesn't happen every session), I have to take center stage forcefully from everyone else, because otherwise the party won't give me the time/attention to allow it to be done. Essentially, I feel like too much of my character and his party's dynamic is hegemonic and awkward, because otherwise the other faggots won't let me do anything.Does anyone know what this feeling is? Does anyone else have experience living this character dynamic out in d&d?
>>66273427Yeah, our paladin of conquest is a beast. if he hits, it dies and this spawned a lot of meme and in-universe fawning. To the point where other characters who were not as "high achiving" of strong in personality sort of slipped to the sidelines.

>>66269294Anon, women are at their most miserable level in my nations history because traditionally powerful female roles have been vilified and instead they are advised to be more like men. They don't know why they are not happy because backwoods, home maker lifestyle, is definitely not an ideal that they actually desire because that is against every social advancement ever, so it must be that their relationship or marriage is bad, best to break it off or get a divorce and try again.
