Somebody should run a game where every PC is required to have the Collective psionic ability. It'd be great. Insane, but great.
How does Brigh feel about a follower controlling undead for short periods of time?
>>66249082If you aren't remodelling their shitholes to run on clockwork, Brigh is probably not a fan.
>>66249047Those characters look familiar...
>>66248907I absolutely love sci-fi in general, and I'm a big fan of science-fantasy, whether we're talking Warhammer 40k, Starjammer, or Jack Vance.I really, really, really *want* to like Starfinder, but no matter how I try I feel like it's not letting me love it.

Is this a Pathfinder / Starfinder pdf thread?
>>66249135Well I can only bring a group of corpses back for a few rounds per day and can never use the same corpse twice, so the only real situation I can imagine using it in is to turn some dead mooks against their boss. It's not technically evil as it specifically removes the evil descriptor of the animate dead spell it acts asI could probably make up some sort of gizmo I toss at the corpses for fluff. I'm definitely dabbling in construct crafting, the necromancy stuff is for minor backstory reasons and I'm just trying to judge on how pissed Brigh would get if that one in a million encounter happens where I get to use it, don't plan on messing with undead otherwise besides showing a shitty necromancer how much I appreciate him rotting my arm off and leaving me with a gem containing my brother's soul
>>66249248>Is this a Pathfinder/StarfinderYes>PDF-threadNo, what? What does that even mean? All of the available pdfs are in the trove(s), just follow the OP. If something isn't in there, mention it here and then go to the share thread.
Do you make your own starship layout maps? Where's a good source to find premade?
>>66249443If all you need is the layout and not the stats or functionality, fucking anywhere. Star Trek and Star Wars have a billion ship designs between them for those nerdy enough to care.
>>66249219I don't know. It feels like I can't do anything fun or realize any characters I feel like playing.Take the Mystic, for example. On the surface, it's what I'd use to make a priestly kind of character, which I normally love, and Connections are basically Domains, but the underlying assumption is that Connections are more a type of bond to some entity that grants you powers, and most of those connections don't interest me: Akashic, Empath, Minbreaker all feel like spiritual atheism/psionics, which isn't wrong in itself but not what I'd look for in this example, Healer is very specific and if I wanted to go the Sarenrae/Lathander/Shallya/etc. route, Steal Life stands out as a major wtf; Xenodruid and Star Shaman are pretty good if you want to do a druidic thing, though, but we're talking classic benign zealot here, which leaves us with Overlord, but at that point we're talking Asmodeus/Bane/etc., so I'm thinking battle-cleric, blackguard, etc., but no wait, Mystic only gets Light armor and basic weapons, so that doesn't feel right. And meanwhile, I can't help to think about my last character, which was a spontaneous caster cloistered cleric in 3.5, with a wealth of domains that I could stack to get radically different expressions of characters, which just makes me miss the domain system, because outside of the meta, in *actual* play, where you don't cherry-pick freely, a Cleric of one faith had different choices from a cleric of another (which became really pronunced when combined with spontaneous divine casting, which always made more thematic sense to me anyway)....(char.limit, cont.)
>>66249219>>66249744>(cont.)I keep twisting and bending, just like I always did in 3.5 and PF or other games like WH40kRP4/WFRP2 or Shadowrun, but I never feel like I'm landing in something I'd actually want to play.Maybe the Soldier will one day get a Paladin Fighting Style that it can pair with the Mercenary or Priest Theme and the Divine Champion Archetype, and pick some Lay on Hands feat(s), and maybe there will one day be a Sacred and a Profane Connection for the Mystic which could give access to a host of Domains or equivalent, but it's not there, and Paizo and its fanbase seems reluctant to even entertain the thought.
>>66249219Any setting/story instantly becomes unappealing as soon as you add phones and cars. This is an absolute rule. You can change phones to comm badges or whatever you have, or change cars to spaceships, but it's the same effect. As soon as you can get from A to B with no effort or conflict, a story loses all interest and weight. And as soon as you can just phone around there's no gap where action can occur. Think if they had actually ridden the eagles in LotR, or worse just taken a fuckin jeep the whol way there faster than anyone could chase. Think about Gandalf phoning up Aragorn on facetime to show him he was fine and not dead, or if Mery and Pippin had "let Frodo know my location" turned on. How fucking stupid is this story instantly? Every source of tension, conflict, and struggle is instantly gone. Fantasy is the way to go for actual storytelling.
>>66249604I assume he means usable floor plans. Also, I'm not sure if the Star Trek/Wars sci-fi aesthetic fits. It'd be funny to fit a spelljammer helm and control sphere to the Voyager, or add a domed landscape to a super star destroyer dreadnought.
>>66249826I dunno. It can be OK if it's limited in scope, allowing for localized adventure, as is the case with most Star Trek. That said, this is not the case in Starfinder. Absalom Station is always like 1d6 days away, and communications is solved by casual magic.Even if you can have urgency, that's not the same as adventure, though. Adventure is the unknown, and getting from A to B through an unknown number of Xs, Y's, and Z's.With instant communication and fast travel, that practically disappears. Hell, it's a good question how half of the would-be adventures even happen when people that are far more qualified to deal with things are but a phonecall away.
>>66250036>how half of the would-be adventures even happen when people that are far more qualified to deal with things are but a phonecall away>the evil Klingon beheads the barman, turning to the crowd to address any challlengers who disagree with his methods, what do you do?>"Call the fucking cops, holy shit Starfleet always has a warp-9 capable ship within minutes, and that's how most episodes of Star Trek start anyways. I'm outta here."Boring shit. You'll never catch me in modern/sci-fi games.
>>66248892How possible is something like this with mechanic?
>>66250221Well you could be Starfleet. Honestly, you're practically going to have to be either the enforcers or the criminals.
Would there be any interest if I worked on a magic-less healer archetype? Probably for Alchemist, but I could work something into Ranger too. I've wanted to for awhile but I haven't bothered because it seems too masturbatory to play a class I made myself.
>>66250351I don't know what that is.
Fuck, I am so irritated right now.I'm trying to build a Spheres of Power character and I just can't get what I want out of the system, you need to spend a talent on fucking everything and you get so few of them.>Right my character in his backstory disguised himself as someone else using magic>Lmao, that'll be alteration (Core), Perfect Imitation and the Transformation Feat to allow you to do it without concentration>But I want to be able to do other things occasionally rather than be 500% dedicated to just transforming. Fuck, I literally only want to be able to turn into human shapes, I don't even need the rest of the alteration shit.>Tough :3c
>>66250429A spell-less/formula-less alchemist focused on healing? I'd love to see it. I'm generally a fan of spell-less variants.
>>66250455I was thinking of replacing Insusions with Salves that an alchemist could slap onto himself or allies for healing or buffs. Thing is, Infusions are just spells with another name and salves are just infusions with another name, so I want to work around that. For the ranger I was thinking of making Triage replace favored enemy, so enemies at low HP trigger FE bonuses, and made allies who need help easy to spot. Then replace the limited spellcasting with some kind of naturalistic regen-granting tonics.
>>66250450That's what drawbacks and extra magic talent feat is for. Also just leveling up.
>>66250493Suggestion: As an archetype, modify Infusions as a class feature, with a "Salves" archetype class feature, in which you limit what "spells" can be used, have them require touching (or touch attacks, if applicable), and boost the number of uses or create a domain slot type of system. That might be a cool entry.
>>66250570I'd like something like that, silver dust in the hair granting Protection from Evil, or a glob of aloe that provides Mage Armor or Cure Light. That's the idea! But I don't want spellcasting with a new name again.
>>66250601Well when push comes to shove, it's either specific spellcasting with a spevific name/theme, or spell-like abilities. It's hard to be unique within the confines of the game.
If I underprep for session one am I an asshole? I've just been going over the thematic tone in my head over and over and taking notes on their backstories. I've drawn maps and have a direct objective for the first session, I basically railroaded them in character creation by saying "your characters have volunteered for this mission" but left everything else up to them within the setting pretty much. However I haven't populated the maps with anything, I don't have any encounters really planned. I don't have any NPCs planned beyond thinking up some character voices to copy and watching the source material for those voices.I'm not a very experienced DM but whenever I write out encounters they just feel dumb and non immersive.
So there;s just no way to satisfyingly play a tank in this game huh. The closest thing you can get is just being so untouchable that anything is encouraged to ignore you while it kills your party instead.
>>66250763>this gameAre you talking PF or SF? I am really fucking triggered by SF not having shields.
>>66250827Shields only defend you, tanks protect the party. But yeah, I meant PF.
>>66250763In PF, you can be a tank just fine, by positioning and Attacks of Opportunity, as well as using the environment to your advantage. If you GM is metagaming to avoid you when it makes no sense, stop playing with shitters. If anything, tanks are so good it becomes a problem for a GM *unless* they start metsgaming like a faggot.
>>66250859You can't stand next to everyone in an encounter, and melee attacking allies can't be protected this way for longer than maybe one round, plus enemies with range can just do the simple 5-foot step and attack that all players do.
>>66250948>>66250763If you take Sister-in-Arms Cavalier archetype you can get a psuedo 4e defender aura, since that seems like what you want. You have to give up your mount for it, though. But if you can get a mount elsewhere, and if you get a reach weapon and stay on your mount, then you can make that psuedo aura an effective 15ft radius, too.
>>66250948>I can't protect everyone at once equally well and defend them from all forms of damage and attacks at onceI don't see the issue with that at all. Omnidefensive sponge-tanking is MMO cancer with no place in any kind of RPG, really. Enemies are going to attack the ones that it makes the most sense for them to attack, especially from a situational and emotional perspective. If you want to have the enemy act like retards, intimidate or bluff them to take their attention, or have someone inflict them with rage.
>>66251286You clearly don't understand the issue.
>>66251335>You clearly don't understand the issue.I understand the issue just fine, in that I don't think there really is one. If I'm not, then please explain how I don't. Because it sounds like you're either inventing a theoretical "what if"-scenario without any basis in reality, or your GM is just bad, which no mechanics will ever help with.
>>66251391No.When your starting reaction is to insult and dismiss, you clearly aren't someone worth bothering to explain to. Try "I don't understand the question" instead of incredulously assuming the worst next time.
>>66251502>there is an issue>I can't explain it or impart upon others why there is an issue but I demand that you understand it>this is your fault not mineok retard
>>66251286Good thing Pathfinder has feats that basically force enemies to agro on them.
In Starfinder, is there any way to get this effect permanently or at-will, not just when fighting? I want my Holy Avenger to give off a soft light all the time, not just strobe like a motherrucker in combat.
>>66251867Derp, I forgot the fucking picture.

>>66251884>tfw nobody but me and someone suggesting Siater-in-Arms for a pseudo-aura replied, and that reply asserted no specific issue>tfw "you calling me retarded for not being able to present an issue proves I'm not retarded"ok retard
>>66250763>>66251335>>66251502>>66251884You seem really fucking triggered by someone not taking your "issue" at face value and actually wanting you to explain what problem you're having. Are you, by any chance, a SocJus leftard? It seems to be a regrettable pattern.
>>66251867>Holy AvengerIsn't that a pathfinder artifact?
Hey anons, a bit of a specific question here. My players are about to wrap up a story arc, and the fights coming up ahead are going to consist of:> 1 Normal fight against a miniboss I'll do my normal selection with> 1 somewhat regrettable but unavoidable fight against a sub-boss that, whether the players know it or not, is a bit of a tragedyand> 1 final boss against someone who's lost more than a few of her marblesThe latter two I wanted to get music for, but I'm coming up short. Anyone have any suggestions? The only requirements are that they be a decent tempo and lyricless.

How can I convert the construction from the lyre of building into BP for kingdom building?100 men's labor for 6 days per hour of playing...I don't think It should allow me to build things outright/free but it should allow for some form of discount. Playing that four times a month means you get equivalent work of 100 men working for 24+days, which is honestly a lot of labor force to play around with.
>>66252735BP is exclusively material for the construction as far as I've seen. Lyre would work better for downtime rules.
>>66252747It would, its an easy conversion. But Then how do I go about using the lyre to build things like roads, walls, ect.Things that (as far as I know, I'm new to PF) have no downtime equivalent? There really should be a way. I should be able to erect some buildings in only a few hours with little trouble. Even if those buildings are empty shells that ought to be able to reduce some BP costs, but there is no mechanic as far as I can find.
>>66252082Considering the themes, i suggest you pick something from Lisa The Painful's OSThttps://widdly2diddly.bandcamp.com/releasesFor reference, Exploding Hearts is the theme of the secret boss while The End Is Nigh is that of the final boss, but almost everything in there can be good for somethingAll Hail The Fishmen for absolute batshit crazy

>>66252284Charlotte’s popularity confuses me, considering her backstory’s derivative and design is about as standard as you can get.
>>66253131Charlotte's popularity comes from the fact people cant seem to let her have a happy ending. If they actually let get go and werent raging incels for once, then she would fade into obscurity.
>>66253131Most popular things are derivative and standard drivel. It's timing and marketing. Or in the case of Charlotte it was memes.Which was that she got a happy ending and then people started requesting lewds both to satisfy their needs for porn of some random ass character that got a happy ending and because it got them (you)s.
>>66253154>>66253165Happy endings are bad civilization, everyone must suffer their penance in the Material before seeking salvation in the spiritual realms beyond. Duh.
>>66249826I'm sorry, are you implying the system that lets you teleport freely around the world, nay, between various planes and multiverses, is somehow NOT taking all the interest and weight out the story?Teleport, Plane Shift and the laundry list of other such spells are the cars of PF, and basically everyone (that matters narratively, at least) has access to thems.
>>66250351Looks like a Mechanic with their Combat Drone. While I'm not sure if Drones can be Large-sized, I do know they can be Medium.
>>66249826>Star Trek is unappealing because of comm badges and transporters, and lacks any sources of tension, conflict, and struggleWere you born this stupid or did you have to practice?

Most APs and the Archives also show there’s numerous biological and political threats in the Vast, so it’s not some lazy pleasure cruise either.>Every source of tension, conflict, and struggle is instantly gone. Fantasy is the way to go for actual storytelling. Is this why Star Wars lacks any source of tension or conflict?
>>66252726No it doesn't. It doesn't get any actual shields until october, over two years after release, and what, three years or something since playtests, lmao.
Are there any good spells for a two weapon fighting ranger. The entire spell list seems like shit outside of instant enemy.
>>66254006>He doesn’t allow Operations Manual equipment at his tablelamo my hamo, I can dig waiting on allowing the classes on account of their likely revisions, but the shields are harmless and already available.

>>66254120>playtests are release materialNo. Also, the playtest shields were included just so the vanguard could use its shit, and are obviously subject to change. While I'd allow them myself, assuming that allowing playtest material is the default is just fucking stupid and you know it.

>>66254367How are Vanguards supposed to play, anyway? Their entropic strikes make them seem like sci-fi Monks, but they’re also encouraged to wear heavy armor and shields.
>>66254553On a more serious note, how does the azlanti feel about aasimar? I want to play one but I'm not sure if I could still be considered an azlanti pureblood. Either that or axani, but you thought I was going to say tieflijg, didn't you? Fuck those guys.
>>66254512>tfw no memegame to make a pale freckled cutie app with a big BACKSTORY
>>66254615Given that Aasimar aren't pureblood Azlanti, the Azlanti would view them as as much of a threat to their genetic purity as, say, elves or non-azlanti humans. Unless your Aasimar tries to pass as human, they'd probably kill on-sight.
>>66254664>ywn be a Scion of Humanity aasimar going around boning tight Azlanti girls and ruining the purity of their bloodline
>>66254603Honestly, I have no idea. I'm not even sure where the whole "Vanguard = shield user!" meme comes from. The vanguard are the ones at the front of a military formation, the chargers, the first guys into the blender. If anything, I'd expect something charge-y or rage-y, not "sci-fi monk woth a shield and heavy armor". And the whole entropy thing just seems forced, mechanically, like every single class just absolutely needs a gimmick, and conceptually like they have to force something sci-fi and tie the class down to it. It's weird.

>>66254664>they'd probably kill on-sight.The Azlanti Star Empire doesn't seem to be big on the whole "cleansing" business, Aasimar in the Empire would be treated the same as any other second-class citizen (though perhaps with a bit more sympathy if they're from proper Azlanti stock.)
>>66254664But that's just it, though, aasimar (or planetouched in general) doesn't have to have clear planar progenitors. It's not like angels come down and bone people and out plops an aasimar. On the other hand, maybe they wouldn't like to acknowledge that that was from Aboleth genetic tampering.>>66255504Yep. And then their corrupt, bureaucratic, authoritarian system of governance lost them access to an advanced FTL drive. An FTL drive whose specs are (likely) claimed by the pact worlds/Stewards at the end of that path, slightly closing the tiny gap their thousands-of-years head start in space travel managed to get them.
What is the most magical instrument a bard can employ in their stunning performances?
Wait, wait, wait, wait. There's no fucking Detect Evil or Detect Alignment or anything, no low-level sense corruption, no nothing? Because that's just fucking fantastic. Literally wonderful, I've always hated that shit like the plague, and genuinely thought that it creates massive narrative issues, since it is usually a low-level spell-like ability that can be run on anyone, ruining any chance for shenanigans since everyone in-universe could go "lmao no, you're team red, get out of this city, ha ha".
>>66255981>slightly closing the tiny gap their thousands-of-years head start in space travel managed to get them. They lost their gap after the Gap!
>>66256018Nondetection and Undetectable Alignmetn
>>66256018Not only do those spells no longer exist, there are examples of NPCs exploiting the absence of said spells to do great evil, like Salask in Dead Suns, who worked as a Devourer Cultist sleeper agent in the Stewards feeding them false information purely to get officers killed.
>>66256018A lot of alignment restrictions and bullshit were blurred out in Starfinder. For example, Animate Dead no longer has the Evil tag. Presumably the designers didn't need to artificially construct reasons why zombie workers should be performing all socially necessary manual labor, now that literal robots exist to do the same thing.>>66256074Look at how they ran their scientific pursuits in the 3rd book of the Aeon Throne adventure path. The Azlanti would have been outfitting their ships with Mass Effect FTL tech by the time the PCs got to the prison moon if they weren't slowing their research by compartmentalizing their science teams. Now imagine how much practices like those have probably held back their overall development. It's a miracle the Azlanti even have more than one star system under their command.
>>66255433>They're still fascists, and ethnic cleansing is built into fascism.I'm not sure if you're memeing, but if you genuinely believe either of those statements, you need to either educate yourself or kill yourself. There doesn't seem to be any species races/ethnicities/subraces in Starfinder at all, which I think is pretty sad. One of the best parts of Pathfinder, in my opinion. Sure, alternate racials tended to end up in cherry-pickong for individual characters, sadly, but it was very strong, thematically, but should've been conceptually tighter.
>>66256145I know they exist, but those are immediate tip-offs that something is dodgy, nevermind that it's only reasonably available to the the upper class.>>66256147Well Starfinder finally got something right. If two Aasimar get together they're going to have Aasimar, same with Tieflings or Sylphs or Genasi. While this is arguably how things would be for any race, it's also canon that Dhampir function as Humans for the purpose of genetics; Dhampir/Human will always be Human, and Dhampir/Dhampir will be Human. Not sure how Changelings work, though I think it's the same.

>>66257118Id still chop it up to extreme planar influence thats lasted forever but thats just me. Besides if they breed true, those fuckers would literally be everywhere. >>66258914Its not like Angels are immune to imbreeding. Granted it would be rare for such a thing to happen, but when your as isolationist as the good aligned planes are normally, you dont have alot of choices in mates, beyond bringing in mortals that you court in the material plane.
Alright, so, I need some spitballing help here, since I can't exactly playtest this myself. How reasonable would it be for a 1st-level Soldier Fighting Style ability (Smite) to spend 1 Resolve as part of any one attack, in order to add [Lvl × 1] damage vs. anyone with Evil alignment or with the Evil subtype, as well as adding [Cha.Mod.] to hit (taking into consideration that it's very unlikely that a soldier would have a lot of Charisma). If the attack misses, the Resolve is unspent, but if you hit something that happens to not be evil, you'll probably never know (obviously). Not sure if it should only be usable only a limited number of times per day.
>>66259034Angels making babies among each other already is kinda rare since most are born from a god ascending a mortal soul or simply shaping one out of the quintessence of the plane.
>>66258914Nah, it's just a classic aspect of the ((("elite"))), and I could see them holding on to it more and more as the bloodlines get thinner, and they start drowning the children unfortunate enough to be born too inbred or - even worse - with no indication of their aasimar heritage. It's a state secret and people have died for less. Many midwives have been made to disappear after witnessing such births.
>>66256453I like the Elemental Archetype, and I like taking a wolf, for tripping. It's not the greatest compared to an actual trip build, but it's low effort enough. Does starfinder support fighter jocks?
>>66259055Using Resolve is a start. It's basically the universal resource, and you'll want to conserve it naturally anyways. Rather than uses per day, you might consider a lower number of uses, but granted per 10 minute rest, as some other abilities work. The actual numbers might need a bit of tweaking, but I'm not sure by how much. The only thing I know of that uses your full level would be Weapon Specialization, and some more powerful, specialized versions of it reserved for non-scaling attacks, like Natural Attacks. Half level is used a little bit more often, like with Power Attack and the Solarion's Plasma Sheath.I thought Divine Champion gave a Smite equivalent, but it turns out it just bypasses Damage Reduction and Resistances.
>>66259418The whole system is designed to not have those things. You're not having badwrongfun, you're objectively trying to make a thing that was purposefully not included. There is a reason that everything was left FAR more low-powered than PF did, and it's to keep the various classes more in line with each other. You can run a starfighter, but it'll be pretty flimsy. Still, just putting skill ranks into Pilot and taking Ace Pilot will suffice if you're dead-set on it.
>>66259055It sounds good to me, but might become an issue at higher levels, I dunno, with a flat +15 vs.evil at level 15. But I haven't played at those levels. It's probably balanced by the fact that the bonus to hit will taper off. A +3 (assuming a high 16 Charisma) will be huge at lower levels, but not as relevant later. You might want to clarify what kind of bonus it is. I'm assuming Divine.I'd limit it a number of times per day equal to 1/2 level plus charisma bonus, that way you can't spam all your resolve into it from the get-go.

Hey, Mr. Atlas! Yes, you! The guy looking to build the STRONGEST man in Starfinder! I found something you need to know, it’s WHAT! YOU! NEED!Okay okay, get this; the trick to being the Hero of Hauling is to get nautical, you have to become a Copaxi - yes, the coral guys. Why? Oh because of their neat little trick called Gravity Adjustment, which allows them to treat themselves and everything they’re carrying as being within one step of the current gravity’s level. This means your coral, on a normal planet, can treat itself as being on a Light Gravity World, giving it a x3 to Bulk. Yes, x3! Ain’t that bananas?

Well, the game is coming to an end, but overall I had a really nice time with my sohei/enlightened paladin. From 5th level to 13th btw, maybe we can reach 14th.Hero's defiance, fey foundling and defensive strategist were mvp. Also not smite against any alignment was incredible useful taking into account how few actually evil creatures/monsters we faced
>>66259942>Star Wars and Star Trek have aesthetic differences, but how "action-oriented" it becomes in play is all a matter of artistic interpretation. I'd say that it's very much more Star Trek than Star Wars, but you can have the explosions and flu-bys of Star Wars just the same.Something to keep in mind is that up until ship modeling went full CGI in later DS9 much of the "normal" combat was one on one starting from face-off positions trying to negotiate before trading shots. A Starfinder battle would probably look more like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89WcIwjlQxAThan it would Star Wars' fighter swarms and bulky, standoff cruiser/battleship fights. Note how even the huge Galaxy class ships are fairly nimble.
It’s worth noting the firing arcs, crew order and size of ships lends itself much more to Star Wars-style “dogfighting in space” than Star Trek’s sleek and modern idea of 3D warfare. Many of the Piloting maneuvers are dashing ace pilot tricks, and most ships have their most powerful weapons in their forward arc, encouraging getting a frontal bead on your target (ideally behind them.)And, something we haven’t mentioned yet, maneuverability. Ships in Starfinder are CHUNKY, it can take an entire combat turn for some of the bigger ships just to turn around.
>>66261415Yeah, the combat in the Starfinder ship section says combats 2d. It doesnt lend itself to the idea of 3d well because it would bee too much to keep track of in larger battles. Left, Right, Forward and Back is alot simpler to keep track of and if you really need too, you can just fluff starfighters zipping around as they please.
>>66259348I think a dickhead vandalized it. On that topic, does anyone have a trove updated to the most recent books, since this issue's extant anyways?
>>66261415Reminder that normal fleet combat in Star Wars consists of capital ships in static positions trading turbolaser fire as swarms of fighters engage each other while attempting to break through to weaken the capital ships.
>>66261614No wonder they needed clones. Those fuckers couldnt plan a military strategy to save their own lives.
>>66261749Well, the Clones were more of a political strategy. The Republic, and the Separatist worlds as well, had the population numbers needed to easily sustain a campaign, but with regular people dying instead of manufactured proxy armies, Palpatine couldn't stretch his "make it look harsh, but nobody can actually win" strategy as long as he needed to to get enough "emergency" powers and destroy public faith in the Jedi.

When that's not possible, I still have a big two handed weapon from mountback and some other things to do to support the party when my niche isn't useful such as Antagonize mixed with Mounted Combat to frustrate the enemy.
>>66262992Forgot to add that Blossom has the Draconic archetype and medium armor proficiency.
I'm in a game of rise of the runelords and we're in the glass warehouse right now. Are we still supposed to be level 1?
>>66261614Which is kind of the preferred strategy in Starfinder as well. The anon you are quoting lied, it does not take "one" combat round for a Capital Ship to turn, it takes anywhere from 3/4 combat turns to turn 180 degrees. Large ships are incredibly cumbersome in the system, which heavily encourages tactics exactly as you said; the big ships stay back pummeling the other big ships, while the fighters and frigates are sent out to screen the enemy and make an opening for killing barrages.>Example: The Sovereign Vindicator (a Dreadnought) is Speed 6 and Clumsy (turn 4). This means the ship needs to move forward 4 hexes before it can turn to face one new heading. It can't even turn twice in one turn.
>>66263277Yes, dealing with the Glassworks should get you to level 2, assuming that your party hasn't gone out of their way to skip anything.
>>66263364So is the goal late game for Starfinder with ship combat to have a small fleet of ships or what? Cause I assume that would basically mean only simular threats would tangle with them, and getting suitable amount of docks for them would be a nightmare and a half.
>>66263839>So is the goal late game for Starfinder with ship combat to have a small fleet of ships or what? No, the goal of late-game Starfinder is to continue upgrading your starting ship (typically an Exploration Vessel) while adapting to the strengths and weaknesses of the opponents you face. There is only one point in Dead Suns where you're flying something larger than a Medium ship and that's at the very end of the campaign, more of a victory lap than a genuine battle.

>>66266466I've heard the Starfinder Society modules are solid, real quality stuff. That is all some pretty serious hearsay, though, so take it with a grain of salt.
>>66259055>>66259821Make it +1d2 per every other level. This randomizes the damage somewhat, but averages out as if you'd gained .5/level, which is reasonable.>>66259587>criticizes the incestous practices of historical and contemporary rulers>this means you want to fuck your sister ha hapicture related>>66260306I don't have a character right now, but my last one didn't have any feelsbad.jpg. My last character to have solid family ties promised his sister he'd be home for Christmas this year. He died shortly afterwards, his last call being to his sister, to apologize for not being able to make it. Q_Q
>>66266493I kinda want to play Star Sugar Heartlove!!! now, tho.
>>66266625It was recruiting here a couple months ago, and it sounds like people were having fun with it.
>Jinsuls are a violent, fanatical alien race from the Jinsul Hierocracy, who worship the ancient deity Kadrical and are led by priests commanding dangerous magic. How dangerous can the magic really be in a universe that only has lvl 6 magic?
>>66266700The kind of magic that comes from consuming the essence of a god's herald, apparently. These dorks are a lot cooler than I thought they would be, I'm really digging their starship designs.
>>66266620>historical and contemporary rulersDo you... think that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are related? Is Emperor Naruhito an incest babby? Give us the juicy secrets, anon!
>>66266789>Do you think that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are related?>Is Emperor Naruhito an incest babby?Doubtful. That's some crazy-ass conspiracy theories, Anon.
I hope Reaver's Run has fun tonight!
>>66266925I hope you don't gag too hard on your dad tonight.
In PF is there any decent way to make things fight for you BESIDES summons and necromancy? I'm thinking of like a Dancing Blade build, maybe something like Hand of the Apprentice. I'd like to figure out some way to like, "fire and forget" and never have to directly attack the enemy. This is for a noble build who refuses to dirty his hands in combat.
>>66264162https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQgMonk, never intended to be the comic relief but the class is shit
>>66267711I'm not really familiar with Count, but Mesmerist could work it's just I'd like to do it more regularly than that. Or at least be able to build up an arsenal.
>>66267606>summons and necromancyI know you said this but those really are the best way. An Undead Lord Cleric is really really well suited for the L/E noble character type. I think what you're looking for is kind of an armament of automatons, but I don't think there's a way to do that unless you want to talk to your DM about refluffing your summons as a Master Summoner Summoner.
>>66267745I meant it like, "does mesmerist meet the criteria", not "a mesmerist that is a count".
>>66267818That is kind of what I'm looking for. That or an army of ghosts maybe? Or like, a master of Unseen Servant who has it attack for him. Anything like that that allows him to direct attacks without dealing them.>>66267819Ah right, I thought you meant like an archetype called Count.
>>66248892What do you guys think about a summon focus Shaman?I was kicking around the idea of using the Envoy of Balance PRC and the Versatile Summon Natures Ally feat to apply the Counterimposed and an elemental simple template to all my summons. I am going to be playing my Shaman in a group where the only other spellcaster is a blaster sorcerer, so I am not sure I want to spend that many feats on one trick, and it would still be full round action summoning.
What’s a fun build for an archer?
what happened to the trove? it redirects to the pathfinder wiki now.
>>66268956I was asking this a few days ago to no help, and the best I could come up with was a Zen Archer Monk and an Eldritch Archer Magus. Zen Archer gets more attacks per round than any other build since you can burn a ki point to get one extra attack on a full attack at full BAB. Eldritch Archer is the most damage since you can Scorching Ray or on ranged attacks.I went with an Elf build, Eldritch Archer, and fluffed it as half Drow, taking the quick reloading Crossbow alternate racial. It's a magic stationary gunner build that plays with the Heavy Crossbow and magic. You could also go with a thrown weapon build and a diverse set of enchantments; the Startoss Style feat chain allows for some fun stuff with that.
>>66269001Oh, I never heard of that crossbow thing. That sounds kind of badass
>>66269316If you prepare Coin Shot as your 1st level spell at low level its very strong.>round one, cast Coin Shot, Spell Combat for one coin and one crossbow bolt, swift action +1 enhancement from magus arcana, and point blank shot>1d10+2plat coin +1d10+2bolt>round 2, reload move action, 1d10+2 2nd coin>round 3, 1d10+2last coin +1d10+2bolt spell combat againWho can seriously do damage like that at range at that level? No one I think. At higher level you have better scaling spells like Snowball or Scorching Ray, even Fireball. It gets kinda gross eventually. You can do this all with a bow too, but crossbows have a higher crit chance and the spells can also crit and you can see where that's going. This really is only viable with Elf though, since the slow reload makes it too slow on any other race.
>>66269626This sounds rad. I’m building this for something
>>66269679Word, glad my suffering trying to find the only two fun ranged damage builds in the entire system paid off for someone. Just remember there is one drawback to the build, if a spell requires multiple ranged touch attacks, you're only allowed as many as you get ranged attacks. Meaning you'll need Rapid Shot as your 7th level feat since at 8th level you start getting spells that attack faster than you can manage. Your magus arcana should be able to make up the difference for the attack roll penalties (-2 spell combat, another -2 rapid shot) so you'll even out there. You do need to get Rapid Reload so you can reload fast enough to take advantage of Rapid Shot too, but that's not so bad when you're getting critting ranged magic multiattacks as the tradeoff for a few feat taxes.
>>66268989Some asshole fucked it.
>>66269626well, but also, who has access to platinum coins at low levels?
>>66269984Anybody with 10g to their name.
>>66264162https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCXsRoyFRQEIt's a song about someone who appears to be a goody-goody who dreams of being a gangsta.
>>66264162https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6J5lT9kcrEBeing an oradin of Tsukiyo is suffering, but somebody has to do it.
>>66269752And it’s more fun than zen archer in play?
Say, any of you folks remember an old homebrew thing that got posted on here? It was a homebrew PoW discipline which did weird Street Fighter stuff, but I don't remember what it was called to search for it.
>>66264162>Yes, I'm a weebhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxvfieTkARI
With the trove being down, I have to ask: Does anyone have a link to the Dawn of Flame books released so far?
>>66271629The Lashunta sure do get a lot of action in the Starfinder APs, they feature prominently in all of them.
>>66272433Unsurprising since they are pretty much the poster race of Starfinder and probably the favorite race of somebody int he dev team.Plus Paizo seems to follow the philosophy of "If it ain't a cool thing make it a waifu/husbando".
>>66272433I’d like to get a lot of Lashunta action
>>66272433Yeah, it's weird, because they're by far the least interesting species. It always feels like Paizo's response to making something u interesting or stupid is not to try to revise it or try to work with it, but to double down and try to force it."You don't like our goblins? What do you mean you don't like our goblins?! They're silly and hilarious, just look at them! Have some more goblins in everything!"
>>66272511Play Signal of Screams, there's a Lashunta sports star you can hook up with at the luxury resort.
>>66272433I hope "Attack of the Swarm!" Is heavier on the AA/AA2 races, considering that AP is probably the first "major" release made after those two supplementals were in circulation.
>Get somebody who was asking for advice on character build, probably with PoW included since he doesnt know what class to take>Ask what is his concept>"Human swordsman using dual Bastard swords, clad in full plate armour who is meant to be a typical anime swordsman, a bit like the Weeb kirito but way cooler"I cant help but find alot of things wrong with that concept, mechanics wise and concept wise. I pointed him to PoW Warlord but still
>>66273358What level are you starting at? You should warn him *now* that your typical level 1 Chickenchaser isn't going to be the whirling dervish of blood and viscera he imagines (that comes later.) That also sounds more like the Warder (Dervish Defender,) though that emphasizes light armor over the heavy plate he seems keen on using. There's nothing technically wrong about dual-wielding bastard swords either, but that will require both significant monetary investment (in effortless laces and enchantments) and feat allocation, since you can't one-hand a bastard sword without the exotic proficiency. If I was in your shoes, I'd do exactly as you suggested; direct him to the Warlord (since he wants to play a Swordsman with Attitude) and remind him level 1 is not indicative of level 11, either mechanically or thematically. With luck, the months and years he'll spend with this more "toned down" concept will grow on him, and he'll look back at his insistence on "Cooler Kirito" and laugh.
Anyone ever roll a Mesmerist? I've been building one and I'm not sure if I should focus on enchantment spells or Painful Stare. Feels like you need to invest a lot of feats to make the stare worth it
>>66273469Not me, he's starting at level 1 yes. I think I will warn him, though I dont have much faith in this guy because he has not even tried to read what does PoW work or how does it work or how does each class work. He already is expecting to be OP compared to everyone else in the game, this is not a good attitude or approach to have when you are entering a game, just from my experience.
>>66269984Play coins are d10s but gold coins are still d8s so it's not really a huge damage dropoff.
>>66270849Zen archer full attacks every single round with 0 variation or thought, so yes.
>>66273622I like using the fey trickster archetype to get up to Flame Blade Dervish shenanigans and painful stare helps quite a bit with that. +Level +Xd6 when you damage someone is nice. Manifold Stare doesn't require feats to take, so you can just take compounded pain+a debuff if you really want to
