>>66230156>clones are paidNani? I was just saving them all to check later Even though I requested Clonebros...What image was that in? I mean it makes sense from TCW, but still, they could have just acquired it from civilian plebs through barter or...something.
>>66230169Here's a screenshot I sent to someone, I forget exactly where but it was one of the first images RotSanon posted.

>>66230303Probably like 15,000 credits a year. I imagine it's money just meant for leave, like when you see the clone bar in TCW, they must've paid for their drinks somehow, or when Fives was expected to pay the taxi fare somehow.>BILL IT TO THE REPUBLIC

>>66230417The unfortunate, probable reality is most of them were likely alcoholic, if 79's was any indication. That's just kinda true for soldiers in general.
>>66230511How many of them were fathers you think? Imagine trying to getting child support from a dead-beat clone.
>>66230534Well, we know for a fact that they're fertile, so there must be at least a hundred of half-clones running around out there. I suppose the mothers could petition the Republic for child support, and they'd likely perform a DNA test to avoid scams, then I imagine the state would further provide for the child and cut the father from the child completely.
>>66230534If it was in secret, though, and the father wanted to have this family, then he'd probably just give away all of his disposable income like a good man. Someone needs to make this into a story. Clone has a secret family and wife on Coruscant, and is constantly deploying to the Outer Rim.
>>66230417I'm being paid pretty damn well for it, since I'm an actual gasfitter and being paid that rate to do all the 'heavy' lifting because I'm that much bigger and stronger than everyone else at the company, and the chances of my name being on the paperwork for anything that explodes is nil, which is nice. Plus it's not actually that hard, compared to other work I've had.It will be nice to switch to ACs in a month or so, though.

>>66230417We see a few painted LAAT/i gunships, and painted armor, so the clones clearly have an artistic bend just like irl bored soldiers. And a bored soldier is arguably as dangerous as an enemy soldier, so if it painting a shark face on a laat makes them happy, let them paint it. I'm sure there are clones who have holo waifus they've never met, because their only real feminine relationship was with a silicone feeding nipple and a fem-sounding secretary droid and taun wei, but they see other people have girls so they just have this weird cargo-cult understanding of relationships where they go through the motions, have this warped perceived idea of what it SHOULD be like but don't understand it any more than some of the jedi. But they keep a hologram of some pinup girl anyway, because that's what they think they should do. Maybe trade them around when bored over a card game.

Can someone explain to me a bit more about the status of the '''neutral''' corporate factions (specifically the Trade Federation, the Intergalactic Banking Clan, and the Techno Union) within the Republic during the Clone Wars? I could kind of buy the explanation that they used combination of plausible deniability and leveraging their necessity to the galactic economy to remain '''neutral''' for a time and sell to both sides, but they were clearly in a state of open warfare with the Rebublic and not just supplying their enemies.I mean, the Republic was invading their worlds and fighting their personal forces, so even if the Trade Federation and Co was continuing to claim neutrality it's not like they were getting much out of it. It just doesn't make sense to me that their planets and armies would be considered openly Separatist (and treated as such by the Republic) but their leadership wouldn't be.
>>66233247Nylund made a lot of technical errors in The Fall of Reach from a military standpoint, but he'd still be a better choice than the rest of the EU alumni.

>>66230669>>66230687Yup, Jaster's invasions *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip* those were some good contracts.
ok, so a couple weeks ago, a guy made a couple models of ships based off of background ships seen but not yet expanded upon in the OT, and one of you guys was cool enough to post pictures of them. I decided to snag pic related and use it as a ship for my group (figured it'd make a decent freighter for a small party), but my 'tism and lack of in depth knowledge of the specific shipbuilding companies and their naming conventions for their model lines. Can one of you give me some help? Even if it's just a bullshit tag or model designation, it would help, especially when I present it to the party. Also, does anyone remember the designer's name? I want to be able to give the credit to him if anyone else asks
>>66233335I cannot remember the characters 100%, but I don't -think- it's her. It was the whole circus of Halsey being arrested(by ONI) and branded a war criminal(by ONI) over the S-II project and a few choices made during it, despite ONI APPROVING OF THESE THINGS. It was...a mix of Glasslands and Halo: The Forerunners Awaken IIRC. I try forget what she writes, but it sticks with you.
>>66233299>>66233412I guess I personally see it in the way NK's leader is tolerated at meetings with America's and others, they likely thought they could make peaceful negotiations with the protected leaders present directly and they seemed to pose all of their problems as the Republic's responsibility for oppressing them which would look bad in the vast eyes of many alien species if the Republic asserted that semi-lie brazenly.
Is there any mention of Republic Commandos in the new sourcebook, or is it all ARC Trooper wank? I've wanted to run a proper RC campaign for a while now, and havent picked up the sourcebook yet.
>>66233434The bite at the front looks plenty Rendili.
I have a confession:I really liked the clone commando books. I loved the characters. I loved her mandalorian worldbuilding and just how much effort she put into it with the culture and language. Few caveats:The Mando-wank became a bit much, especially by the end of the series. Her LotF books were not good. I loved the Boba plot, but it didn't belong in those books. She should never have been chosen to write them. Should have given her a separate Boba book and left it at that. I do think people tend to conflate some of her characters' worst opinions and viewpoints with with her own, when those weren't her actual opinions. She did go off the deep end by the end of it all though.
>>66233441ok wow, that's pretty stupid. I remember her getting questioned and everything, what with that being part of the opening cut scene for halo 4, but i didn't know that Travis spearheaded that idea. makes me even more irritated
>>66233546>liked her writingI'm going to have to ask you to kill yourself please, anon. Thank you. I'm sorry it turned out this way.
>>66233412As far as I can tell the concept arose in the (canon) Clone Wars cartoon and later media has adapted to it. But it seems silly and makes my head hurt.>>66233444None of the countries meeting with Kim are in open warfare with North Korea though. The Republic is invading worlds like Muunilist and the various Nemoidias during the Clone Wars and fighting with their people.I just don't get how that is able to coincide with a supposed neutral status or why anyone on either side would accept the discrepancy. It doesn't really benefit anyone; the megacorps can't sell product to the Republic if their worlds are being blockaded and their factories are being bombed. Plus, seeing as worlds aligned with those corporations make up most of the major CIS worlds, who do the Loyalists or the Separatists think the Republic is actually fighting with if all those systems are neutral? Is the whole galaxy pretending that the entire Galactic Republic is just fighting a war with Ando and the Quarren half of Mon Cala (the only two non-corporate entities that have a seat on the Separatist council)? The best explanation I can think of is that the Trade Federation and Co just influenced all the worlds under their control to join the Confederacy representing their local governments and not the corporations pulling their strings. So all the major worlds with Trade Federation/Banking Clan/etc holdings conveniently declared independence for their own citizens but not the megacorps that manage them. It's still weird though; it's like if every state in the US with a Republican majority declared secession from the federal government and said federal government started carpet bombing them, but their senators were still meeting in Washington.
>>66233559It's especially bad when it was the DIRECTOR of ONI who declared that Catherine Halsey is the next Josef Mengele for doing all the (admittedly very nasty)things that ONI signed off on during the program's lifetime. And also somehow didn't know that the project was using Flash Clones? The Director. Of ONI. It's like she wrote that there so she could have an excuse for the Military to be mad at the big bad scientist for harming her(Karen's) precious super warriors in any way. It's as retarded as if Palpatine got inexplicably mad at Tarkin/Krennic for building the DS-1 that -HE- ordered.
>>66233546Seconded, except for the last point. She was a cunt on the internet. That's basically all. Her writing was fine (in the RC books.) >>66233546Her actual views are pretty in line or more extreme anti-theist than the Mandos. >>66244490Yeah except Star Wars isn't the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert. Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.>a-at least the books were good though r-right "No!" The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs." I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

>>66245744Defense companies have frequently been too preoccupied with "big leap" inventions for publicity and govt bux over small, incremental, QOL improvements for soldiers. Just take the whole "caseless ammunition" fiasco. The G-11 was first designed 50 years ago. It STILL hasn't gotten out of the design stage and it never will, nor will any of the other half-assed attempts like the LSAT - we will have handheld railguns and lasers before we have caseless ammo. Instead, they could be designing conventional ammunition that's more weight- and space-efficient.
>>66245938The problem with that design, if I recall correctly, was that in order to get M855 performance out of a case that much smaller they needed to use some sort of high explosive as the propellant and the guns quickly beat themselves to death.

>>66246044>It was an objectively superior platformSo objectively superior that the objectively superior bolt mechanism instantly malfunctioned once an objectively superior 4.73x33 caseless round's propellant failed to completely ignite, which objectively superior German Heer infantry could be reasonably expected to clear in the field without taking apart his objectively superior weapon.Get a fucking grip. I'm going to be starting an Edge of the Empire campaign in a few weeks, flipping through the catalog of official published adventures I found them all to be pretty lackluster. With one big exception being Jewel of Yavin, but that one also doesn't seem fitting at all to be a starting adventure. Anyone know of good heist themed adventures from previous Star Wars RPG systems, or good homebrew stuff that I could use to build up in scope and stakes over time?
>>66245744>>66245938My impression was that the company probably should have gone all-in on the bigger bits of gear- mortars, point defence/anti shipping missile counters and portable artillery. I guess in the baby steps phase of R&D you can dick around with little pistols and stuff, but they are fairly useless fucking things for actual combat.Heck, even something the size of a anti tank missile launcher thats just a 4-shot mortar tube would have its uses and heck, anyone that's done maintenance on something like a Vulcan probably would see a sealed point defence gun with no moving parts as a vast improvement to their life quality! We've sort of hit a bit of complacency with personal weapons as they're sort of at the point they're at now, they're fairly much the peak of cost-quality-effectiveness for what they are. It took a damn long time to get there, but its kind of hard to improve them much more without drastically changing their materials.

>>66244945Jesus. I can't help you if you can't Google "Bob Iger +Upfronts"You're gonna die out there, anon.>>66245003I'm sorry you're not smart enough to to string together search terms based on the provided information. Good luck in life!
>>66246113Jeez. Chill. The point is that it wasn't cancelled because it was a "fiasco", it was cancelled because of outside pressures. The reunification of Germany, NATO standardization, and getting their hands on ten gorillion AKs. Not because the platform failed to perform.
>>66246197>I can't provide any evidence for my claims except "google it!">but everybody else is the stupid one, not me!
>>66246197Funny thing, I googled just that. That's where I found his exact quote. The one that reinforces my point while demolishing yours. If you can't provide a quote to support YOUR claims, your argument is demonstrably bullshit.
>>66246219Do you know how to refine a search? No?Have fun citing Wikipedia, lmao.
>>66246200It pretty much objectively failed to perform, and that was the given reason by the German government itself, which cancelled the contract for it.
>>66246192Hell the M4 is basically at an evolutionary dead end, it can't really get much better however much you dangle composite stocks, greebly sights and all the other gubbins off one. Plus cased ammo is a double engineering win, its a heat-sink for the propellent and it also protects it from the environment in one cheap little package.I mean, it was the 21st century and we're supposed to go fighting wars with hover tanks, personal jetpacks and laser guns.>they deploy you with a piece of shit 80's landrover, a 50 cal older than your grandfather and a Vietnam era derived personal weapon>fug
>>66246275>the Americans were almost imperial stormtroopers IRLat least we got the M16
>>66246294Something about the fact that the eyes are the only part of the face that can be seen clearly terrifies me
>>66246268I'm sorry no one believed you. It must be pretty embarrassing.
>>66246324>tfw no HECU bfto americans who say their country never committed war crimes: digicam, picatinny rails, and bicycle helmets have something to say to you
>>66246294Yeah in the grand scheme of things, your rifle will work 9999 x out of 10000 every time you pull the trigger, body armour that actually stops bullets, food that is a unpalatable mess but wont give you botulism and all the nice stuff like night vision, radios and not always having to walk all the time.Old timey warfare was a shit way to make a living!
>>66244891Sure.I ran a not quite serious list of Maarek Stele (FCS), Duchess (Elusive + Seismic Charges), Major Vynder (SLAM + Ptorps) and Major Rhymer (barrage Rockets)againstLando in the Falcon (Bistel as gunner plus the guy that makes all banks blue), Thane and Wedge.Things sarted out relatively well for me. He came down one board edge, and I caught him between Rhymer, Maarek and Duchess. He moved the Falcon a tiny bit too close to Vynder, whcih cost me the Torps shot.Only Rhymer took damage, but he was down to three hull and had eaten two crits. My return fire took the shields off the Falcon and Wedge. He flew his Falcon rihg tthrough my formation, with Thane close behind, falcon and Thane both boosting away. I blocked Wedge with Duchess, T-rolled maarek intio a chase position behind Thane.Rhymer went wide to fix his crits (Fuel Leak is no joke, and Wounded Pilot also sucks)I started the brain fart fiesta by SLAMing Vynder into a rock. I mean, I can fucking chose if I do a second move and even what move it is, so why not ram that fucikng gunboat into an asteroid in such a way that he will hump it again next turn.My shooting took the shields off ThaneNext turn, he 3-banks with Thane and Lando, both boost. They just outrun Maarek, but I can now focus Wedge with Duchess and Maarek. Vynder gets away from his rock, but is now completely out of position.Maarek shoots, Wedge eats a crit, I get to pick Loose Stabilizer. Duchess shoots, Wedge goes boom. Hooray, this game is pretty much won now.Cue some maneuvering, he is pretty much running along the board edge back to his side.I bump Vynder into Maarek's ass, becasue why would I want to use this SLAM action thingy to get my fucking torpedo boat back into range?
>>66246387Hey, not all MREs are bad. Most of them aren't that different from one of those Hormel Compleats, and those are pretty nice!I feel sorry for anybody who's ever had a vomelette though.
I want one
>>66246275Reminder that people are making excuses of getting "new SAWs" to get the M27. I don't get it.
>>66246342I don't need your approval.I'll get to enjoy your tears when I'm right.I bet you're a Daenerys widow too.
>>66246598>create a program to replace the main battle rifle>cancelled>try again>cancelled>try again>cancelled>ok i give up, let's pretend we're replacing the m249>approved and fundedladies and gentlemen, our defense procurement process at work
>>66246505In the end, I get Vynder almost back into range, Maarek and Duchess cut the corner, Rhymer is turning in. He uses Lando's ability to hand out an action to make Thane boost (closed S-fails), and when Thane activates he opens the S-foils, turn 2 plus barrel rolll and just plain kills Rhymer. That was a beautiful move. Lando takes one of Maarek's shields, but doesn't deal damage to Duchess.Vynder is one tiny fraction out of range. Duchess and Maarek leave Thane at 1 hull. This is the last turn. I'm ahead on points. So what do I do?I fucking park Maarek in a way that he can't shoot, S-loop Duchess to her doom (instad of using a K-turn and having her safe and shooting up the Falcon's ass) and into a position where she can't shoot, and I move Vynder in a way that lets's Tahne bump into him plus the Falcon is still out of range. That last turn was so fucking retarded that I cannot explain why I would ever do such an idiotic thing.Yeah, OK, Rhymer was essentially a test shot, I could've used something better instead. But Vynder was one continous study in how to fucking NOT maneuver with SLAM and torps, that last S-loop was so completely retarded that I cannot fathom my own stupidity, and I literally cannot explain how I managed to get maarek into a position where both enemies arc-dodge even though I moved after those enemies.I just feel like a complete idiot.
>>66246602>I don't need your approval.Yes you do. That's why you're trying so hard.
>>66246519Oh hell, if it comes down to a choice of>Modern MRE>Cold bully beef and hard biscuits>something you killed, skinned and cooked... just kidding, light security- you eat that shit rawThere's really no comparison>>66246598The M249 is a good gun, but when they're old as balls and looser than a 50 year old prostitute, there's gunna be some issuesTarted up assault rifles pretending to be a SAW... going with a no here personally! Its not even that the 416 or whatever the fuck they call it now is a bad gun either, but its not belt fed beastie
>>66246613Because a squad automatic weapon fed from a 30 round magazine is a great idea.I'm sure that's why everybody switched to belt fed. After seeing how the BAR, Bren and Degtyarev totally outperformed the MG-42. Or maybe I'm mixing things up and it was the other way round, but hey I'm not the Mahreen Curps what do I know.

Do we know when the PDF releases, if at all?
>>66246930>>66246931in a bit yeahalso droid phalanxes are my favorite rule

>>66246940>>66246960There's rumor floating around that the license EA holds creating issues for FFG is going to expire soon and that new renewals can allow for more detailed specification and free FFG from this curse, but I wouldn't expect licensed PDFs within the next year let alone few years if this happens.
Is any PDF-making anon gonna combine these pictures with >>66245107 's current pdf for something more complete?

So who wants to bet if we ever get a KOTOR era sourcebook, every game, ever, becomes "Uhm, yeah, so you're old republic jedi and sith on a strike team who got cryogenically frozen and just crashed into Coruscant as soon as the Empire falls."

>>66247538That's a weirdly specific idea
>>66247593No. It's a universal one designed to be tacked on to another career.
>>66247605>>66247593It gives Force Rating 1, so I guess not.
>>66247605oh, derp. I didn't realize it was the same for the other Universal force specs.
>>66247593>>66247635I also derped by saying Exile when I meant Outcast, but the answer's the same.

>>66240446the old star wars minitaures game had like a million figures. they easily filled it out with all the EU material. wizards of the coast went fucking nuts. it was so nuts that they managed to segway use of the minitaures into the SAGA edition of the starwars d20 rpg.even without digging into the more retarded eu, just scratching the EU like starwars x-wing has, you have plenty of material.you already have>basic infantry squads>a few specialist squads>technical equivilents>small walkersso now introduce more specialist squads (ARCs, Rebel Sabateurs, ect)elite or heavy infantry (SBDs, Phase 2 Clone troopers, Rebel Commandos, ect)more small ground vehicles, like T2-B hover tanks, tie maulers, ect)they can even try to eventually move up to larger models and larget scale games like 40k has been doing. imagine pod walkers, AT-ATs, AT-TEs, Juggernauts, and more.
