Explain the Gellar Field to someone who knows nothing about Warhammer.
>>66231871So, imagine all space travel goes directly through Hell. Demons can't follow you out (mostly), but while your ship is in there, demons can do whatever they want to you and your ship. The only thing keeping you safe is some guy that can use Hell powers with his mind. He's creating a bubble that keeps Hell out of your ship.If that guy stops focusing on this bubble for even a second, all Hell breaks loose. This includes him sleeping, or getting distracted, or deciding that Hell is offering a better deal than you are. This is how FTL works in 40K.On an unrelated note, the only reason anyone knows where anything is while they're in Hell is because there's a lighthouse on Earth built by God. If you lose sight of that, you are lost forever.
>>66232017How long does the travel through hell take before reaching the destination? What exactly do demons do to defenseless ships? Just kill?
>>66232017>If you lose sight of that, you are lost forever.I mean, you could just leave the warp right then and there, then just hop in and out until you end up within a few years sub-light speed of an inhabited system.
>>66232076It is random. To both. Often, it is the crew, maddened by the whisperings in their brain, that tear eachother apart.
>>66232076What the demons do, that is kinda what you have been seeing. A ship with weakened defenses might have a few little daemons that get all killy. Defenseless ships kinda have reality melt in the chaos of Hell.
>>66232076>How long does the travel through hell take before reaching the destination? I believe several weeks or moreWhat exactly do demons do to defenseless ships? Just kill?Either the try to possess you or kill you, demons feed on emotions and souls. Souls are like candle flames on a cold, dark street to orphans.
>>66232076Depends on how far you're traveling. To a nearby star system, it might be a few days, across a sector may be a few weeks, and crossing the galaxy would be a few months at the least. Time also tends to get...funky in Magic Super Hell so you sometimes get stuff like ships arriving before they even left or centuries after they were scheduled to arrive.
This is a good thread
Everything is okay. We're just being moved by the warp as normal, it's just a bit more obvious now is all.
>>66232017Not *quite* accurate, but fairly close. The "bubble" is generated by a machine, while a guy who has a third eye that lets him look into the Warp (a.k.a. Magic Super Hell) without immediately going batshit insane guides the ship through the Warp's currents using the Astronomican (basically a psychic lighthouse beacon, which is located on Terra) as a reference point. If the gellar field fails, it's extremely bad news, since there's now nothing keeping out the turbulent sea of emotion and corrosive unreality out, and any Warp predators that happen to be in the neighborhood are free to do all sorts of nasty things to you.
>>66232486>Slavic or Asian woman hits menopause (real time).gif
>>66233232>If the gellar field fails, it's extremely bad news, since there's now nothing keeping out the turbulent sea of emotion and corrosive unreality out, and any Warp predators that happen to be in the neighborhood are free to do all sorts of nasty things to you.I had a Black Crusade campaign where, due to some massively idiotic decisions by one particular PC, their ship's gellar field generator was left completely unattended and had, in fact, gone off-line for several hours while they were travelling the warp. They were lucky that all that came of it is that an unknown number of Lesser Daemons and at least one Greater Daemon decided to take up permanent residence in the ship's bilges.
>>66232253that's brilliant, thanks for posting this.
>>66233334in reality when gellar field fails, the ship is dead. The only fluff creatures that survive unshielded travel are Orks, due to their resistance to warp. They too, do succumb to demons. But imagine a human ship going to Warp and their gellar field fails, everyone of weaker mind (read, thousands) in the ship get gellerpox or just mutate, tearing the ship apart. Not to mention the machinery that go haywire. No anons, you cannot survive gellar field collapse.
>>66234739There is the Kill Team Rogue Trader, in that the Gellar field was just sabotaged or slightly fucked up, not completely off. And most of the crew got Gellerpox.

>>66228669>When you realize the moment you turn around that busty Daemonette will go ramming speed on your butthole with her duck-like barbed cock.NO. This is not going to be even a good pain. I'd rather if that muscled Bloodletter cut me down and took my skull as a paperweight.
>>66232017Gellar field functions both as a shield and as camoflage. The more psykers you have and more powerfull they are, the brighter they will shine in the warp, attracting warp predators. For particularly bright folks, some other forms of protection are recommended. Also nulls (folks who are practically anti-warp) are recommended to be kept around those folks.
>>66235202Image reminds me, if you strapped enough omega blanks to your hull would it have its own natural Gellar field?
>>66235314I think you would at that point create an anti-eye of terror.
>>66235207>he doesn't want a busy Daemonette to go ramming speed on his butthole with her duck-like barbed cocknow you're in for it
How about if we sacrifice some Eldar soulstones while the Geller field is down?
>>66229415Shit, man. Spoiler that shit and give us a warning. Some shit just goes too far. How the hell am I going to get to sleep at night?
>>66236183Then Slaanesh will only *gently* ravage all of your holes
>>66236267Does that mean everyone lives and is fine?
>>66236183>How about if we sacrifice some Eldar soulstones while the Geller field is down? You know? I fucking hate xenos for a whole lot of good reasons, but never would I condemn their souls to a hedonistic warp spawn.

>>66236183You would get some hot fresh broken promises, and then be raped, mouth and ass, by a syphilitic version of your primary school headmaster, all while friends and family look on and laughingly trade jokes about your deepest secrets. For eternity. You won't even have the luxury of losing your mind. If you sacrifice the stones, then you'll have to live with what a sucker you were. And how, having condemned others to the same thing, you deserve what you get. If you didn't, you'll suffer knowing that all this could have been avoided had you just made the deal.
>>66235314Yes. Probably. Though I'm not sure there ARE enough blanks in the galaxy to cover a ship. 8km by 1km dia cylinder... What's a blank's reach, anyway?
>>66232193I remember a porn video (brcc) where the girl was just finishing up. Now, the concept of that site is that he's conning them and they won't even get paid, and that was bullshit, but most of his girls were first timers getting paid a few thousand, many of whom would only do it that once.Anyway, this chick got banged in all her holes, covered in sperm, etc. Now it's all over. She had been tough and cool with it all along. Now it's over, and she's just standing there, nekkid, dripping cum, with the cameras still rolling. He's wiping himself off and getting his clothes back on. She suddenly got this look on her face, like a moment of clarity, where she realizes what she's done. She's surrounded by cameras and there's nowhere to hide, and that video will be Out There and there's nothing she will be able to do about it. All the tough, "wtf do I care" attitude drained out if her and she kind of wilted. She didn't even have anything to cover herself with, until he passed her the baby wipes and she had to clean herself up, cameras still rolling. She tried to put on a brave front that made it even worse somehow, because it was such a brittle façade. That oh shit moment, stretched into infinity, of nakedness and humiliation and despair, is what I imagine a human tossed into the Warp feels like. He's in a realm where thought and feeling are made manifest, so his innermost mind is laid bare for passers-by, but isn't mentally strong enough to do more than feebly writhe around. He's just mentally flopping around like a fish out of water, helplessly gasping for air, at the mercy of pretty much anything around him.
>>66236950You don't happen to have a link, do you? You know, so I can better understand your analogy
>>66235332>large zone of unsettlingly real space characterized by what can only be described as soullessness>nothing of note happens there, other than the fact that nothing of note happens there, ever>psykers get ill and die, ships traversing it are dumped back into realspace, chaos is repelled like a sheen of oil being repelled by soap>only blanks and those warped by unchaos live there (as well as applicable xenos), everyone else leaves immediately, fleeing in terror
>>66237072>large zone of unsettlingly real space characterized by what can only be described as soullessnessIs that where all the remakes come from?
>>66236997It's been ten years. Brcc, one of the early ones, first name started with an A, I think. Sorry that's the best I can do. She seemed totally cool with it. Like she didn't give a fuck and was In Charge. Right up until that moment, and even then she tried to keep it off her face and not show weakness. We stress the physical, but imo the horrors of the Warp are primarily psychological. Your brain is cracked wide open and its contents laid bare for all to see. It's got to be both painful, and painfully intimate. Whatever happens to your body is secondary.
>>66237118Well, off to a journey of knowledge I go
>>66237139You might miss the moment even if you find it. It's subtle. That's kind of what makes it so powerful, that it's genuine and she's trying to hide it.
>>66237184Well, I might just have to watch it a few times then
>>66236183Great idea, attract MORE daemons to the ship. Because that's what we need right now.
>>66234739Creatures can survive. The genestealers at least can definitely travel through the warp on spacehulks without trouble and far from the safety of the greater hive mind. Though that might just be their soulless hive mind nature at play: Nothing on the ship worth the effort, so to speak.
>>66237491The genestealers can just fuck up anything that tries to mess with them.
>>66237532Pretty sure they don’t have the literaly infinite numbers the deamons have on their home turf. To say nothing of greater deamons of Khorn that a bunch of skilled Xeno fighters dropping daemons left and right would attract the attention of.Plus there’s the “eldritch horror” aspect of the warp, but Genestealers probably don’t care about incomprehensible geometries or dark terrible secrets or any other such nonesense.
>>66237630Might be that genestealers are soulless and thus aren't even noticed by daemons. One more perk of being part of a hivemind.
>>66237630Real quick, even under ideal conditions (Big E is rezz'd, the stars align for xenos to cooperate for some fuckall reason) is it even possible for Chaos to lose? To me it seems like an infinite war of attrition.
>>66232211Is this one of those weird PS3 ads?
>>66238145I'm trying to figure out what's going on there. I can't.
>>66236336It'll be theirs *and* yours, you idiot.
>>66238259He's watching himself watching the Star Wars Holiday Special. Isn't it obvious?
>>66237667Might be possible for chaos to be isolated from real space somehow, but I'm pretty sure that there's no way to actually defeat chaos.
>>66234739>in reality when gellar field fails, the ship is dead.no, its not dead but probably damaged.Cato's fleet of ships had gellar failures and while Cato survived (as a small number of his manlets) almost all the rest of the crew were killed/possessed. it is possible to survive gellar failures, but its exceedingly rare for the crew to survive gellar failures.
>>66233232>Not *quite* accurate, but fairly close.you literally rephrased what he said. fuck off
>>66238940He did not, idiot. Learn to read. The one he quoted asserted that the Gellar field is projected by a dude, which it is not.
>>66238689Isn't that what the Necrons are trying to do? Also kinda related to >>66237491 >>66237630, is the shadow in the warp also related to this?
>>66237667Orks crons and nids are eliminatedEldar give dark eldar wraithboneEvery other faction meditates and lives in peace and harmony until daemons become aengels
>>66232411Would you imagine that both what you hold dear and what you dread can come from very same hand? Does [mado] ring any bells?
>>66239274Just because someone's a sick freak doesn't mean they can't produce quality vanilla
>>66238571Ah, the epitome of youtube idiocy
>>66239396It's an edit ya turkey.
>>66237118Can you describe the girl? Blonde? Brunette? Anything that might set her apart like glasses or something?
>>66228669>Thank you Slaanesh for giving me this wondrous opportunity.
>>66238940He didn't, though. I wonder if /tg/ will ever figure out how to reading comprehension.
>>66235338Let's see how you'd react when this happens and you get knocked up by a warp spawn like that. Also you know a duck cock not only is as long as the user itself, it's also corkscrewed, right? Yeah. Barbed corkscrewed cock with barbs.Saw what a Daemonette did with this with one of the White Shields...Horror does not describe it. Not to mention he had to be mercy-killed once the baby was about to get out via his asshole. There were a lot of tentacles.SO FUCKING NO!!
>>66240473It gets weirder
>>66240562And part 3>he did a 360 and took off his pants
>>66232143Hate how this gives me a boner and makes me sad at the same time.
>>66236793I'd go with this
>>66239619That daemonette looks like a trashy whore
>>66243542Do you know what a Daemonette is?
>>66244598I mean, he did just describe one.
>>66239347The best part of this is how the "ke" stays still but starts to resemble a skull and crossbones.
>>66237098>>66237072>the anti-eye of Terror is located at the former site of Walt Disney Studios>A day comes when Imperium, chaos, and xenos must unite in hopes of dealing with this horror>but it is too late>They have all been bought by Disney>Prepare for the Warhammer 40k Cinematic Universe.

>>66232411fucking shadman haha
I always wondering, do Chaos Marine also use Gellar Field? Or did they never use and just greet all Daemon they encounter?
>>66254087Generally yes, just because they are closer to the warp that loyalists doesn't mean everything out there is friendly. The exceptions is Word Bearers, who always go raw as a way to emphasize their devotion to chaos.
>>66254087They don't usually use them, because they have nothing to fear from Daemons seeing as their ships likely have sorcerous protections from weak and unintelligent ones.
