You know when you walk into a Dwarf hold and you see dozens of statues to Dwarfs that barely did anything in history but the Dwarfs talk about how great they are? That is the Americans, obsessed with people who where painfully mediocre.

Would a STR based psionic class work in 5e?
How would you go about homebrewing a class like this, would it work as a monk subclass or would "musclemancer" have to be its own thing?

Okay then, I'll probably be recognized from having talked about my brew here before:
>Class
Armoured Hero (Homebrew)
>LeveL
2
>Race
Greedalion (Homebrew)
>Backstory
Was created by a lonely young Alchemist to be his assistant, was taught basic herbalism, alchemy, and mundane medicine. Given that the race is functionally ageless (but can still be killed like any other shmuck) and her creator was a human, he aged and she did not. Eventually, he came down with a terrible illness that had hit his village and on his death bed made her promise to use her knowledge to help anyone within her reach, to which she agreed. It took a generation, but she managed to find a cure to the illness that claimed her master; his generation and their children might not all make it, but their children's children would not have to worry about the illness. She spent a few hundred years of peace, watching people grow old, die, and be effectively replaced as her patients by their kids and grandkids, until one day the village was attacked and though she helped many escape, she and some others were captured and sent off to be sold as slaves, which is where the campaign picks up. She's a softspoken individual who dislikes seeing people in distress or pain and will offer aid to whoever she reasonably can. She's also somewhat uppity about healing magic and wants to prove that mundane healing is just as useful.
>Any fun things
Managed to nail a crit and roll max damage (1d6+3) on BOTH damage rolls against a fuck huge spider that the DM described in graphic detail as me hacking some of its legs off.We almost died to those spiders.

DM is fucking insane, usually one of my players (my best roleplayer in my group), said "oh yeah you guys can play whatever and also if you want to play anything from the Monster Manual I'll make a statblock for it" so we have a half-elf (wood) druid with +2 WIS, a Nymph (I think?) bard, and myself with a 4th (another player from my group) joining this Saturday.
>>
>>64578261
With laughable damage compared to a fireball too!
>>
>>64578462
What does that have to do with anything? The fact of the matter is, you go to your DM and say "I WANT SHOOTY BANG BANG IT'S IN THE DMG" so he opens the DMG and looks for it in the index. Page 267. He turns to the page, and what does he see? On the page opposite he sees rules no one uses for horror campaigns, rules no one uses for healing, and on the same page as firearm rules, he sees rules no one uses for resting and rules no one uses for explosives. Then if he turns the page to see the stat blocks for firearms HE SEES FUCKING ALIEN TECHNOLOGY AND A STATBLOCK FOR ANTIMATTER RIFLES.
Unless the DM already had firearms in mind when he started thinking about the campaign, there's no way in hell he is going to allow you to use firearms.

Here are a few subtle alterations you could feasibly perform on a tiefling to make them a better sex slave without going into full feeblemind/amputation territory:
>blur their vision to make escape harder and make their life slightly more bearable if they're kept in places of squalor
>a little bell hung up to their tail so that anyone can hear them coming from a good distance

Should also note he literally just said "generate stats in any of the three main ways (rolling, point buy, array) and you can have starting gear or take the starting gold and buy your own". I'm pretty sure we all used point buy, and the Nymph player didn't buy a weapon and thus was forced to use Vicious Mockery for all of our fights and focus on using Bane and healing the party (Mainly me since I"m basically the closest thing to frontline we currently have) but the other two players still went down. Granted, we had fun and all, and the roleplaying parts were great, but goddamn combat is going to be painful if shit keeps going this way.

Regardless of the memes, very few people read rulebooks of any kind front to back, they mostly focus on reading the sections that are pertinent to what they're doing. What I don't like abut this musket is that its max damage isn't much more than a heavy crossbow, a weapon that can get the feat that ignores the loading rule, allowing you to attack a lot more.
I don't think the damage needs to be buffed for the weapon on its own, but a feat could make it viable. Something like sniper perhaps, but it should never ignore the loading property.
Also who the fuck decided the range on that weapon? The average shot you SHOULD take with a muzzleloader is 50 yards, and with rifling you could reach out and touch 200.

Who the fuck uses a crossbow.

Seriously.

If your group is 4 + GM, you're now basically 3 people fighting and one HEMA autist cranking a lever at the sidelines. While your party might not hate you, they don't feel any less functional or competent when you're away or dead.

You and your crossbow are dead weight and the first to be thrown in the metaphorical fire for warmth when shit hits the fan. You'd do everyone a favor in combat by closing your mouth shut and drawing a fucking sword instead of being an attention-whoring ranged combatant

Each one does something different, which lets you basically customize your land druid to fit what your party needs
Coast is good early but falls off
Grassland is nice, Invisibility and Haste

Sneak Attack is a feature that can "effectively" be used each turn. Its intentionally designed that way . If you've got a Rogue working together with a teammate in melee or a Rogue who stealths constantly that will give them the sneak attack which is fine.

The times when its not consistent is when disadvantage is applied or the Rogue does not have a way of Sneak Attacking that turn. So don't feel bad that they are sneak attacking pretty much each turn.

>Assassinate
This on the other hand might be a little off. Assassinate only activates on the first turn of a fight and only affects those who have not acted yet or are surprised. Surprised is a condition that is not very easy to get without stealthing ahead and beating the foes in initiative, but the "Advantage against those who have not acted yet" part is much easier to trigger. Both effects regardless are during the first turn of combat only.

What's the second Rogue's subclass? Inquisitive & Swashbuckler Rogues have features that give them new ways of scoring Sneak Attacks making them even more likely to perform them.

A Legendary spell scroll (9th level geas) goes for 50k GP or more, so let's say that your own Twi'lek fuckdoll costs 10k GP normally, 60k GP if you want them to come brainwashed to love you. It's kind of a high class thing (as personal sex slaves should be) unless you just rent them at a brothel for a while; everyone loves exotic hookers even in real life so paying to fuck a tiefling seems like a thing people would seek out.

Well, first you really want to have a concrete idea of a concept that does not already exist in the game. Then you want to make sure that concept is not just overtaken by a subclasses/subclasses, you want to have some open thematic and mechanical room to make something really good. Then you want to start making its flavor and progressively build out what mechanics does it work off of and its overall purpose in the game.

Class building is not easy, its something that can take a very long time to get right and imo requires a sizable knowledge to the game's mechanics and other classes roles and themes. If you have those go for it, if you don't take some time and read up through all of the existing classes and subclasses before jumping in to class making.

Oh and, don't give up.
If your idea is something really unique, but it comes out OP you can balance it through playtesting (which could be testing in one-offs using it in campaigns, testing it with NPCs, several mock. battles, having multiple other people play test it, etc.).

>Decide on Concept
>Does it overshadow one of the existing classes or do what they do?
>If no, continue. If yes,. just play that class.
>Write up flavor, decide on abilities and when they get them, using the existing classes for a general framework depending on if it's a Caster or Martial as to when you get ASIs etc
>Create subclasses
>Focus on fulfilling the design goal while also being a fun class without being too frontloaded or backloaded.
>Use Kobold Fight Club, run a whiteroom 1v1 combat for every subclass at every level 1-20. Compare to similar classes from the core game by doing the same with them. Drastically under-performs (Is curbstomped) means it needs to be improved (I'd recommend aiming for weak abilities and building them up), slightly worse or on-par with similar class(es) = balanced. Out-performs similar classes at what they do = too strong, reduce power.
>Play each subclass 1-20 in an actual game, this is the most difficult part and will require friends willing to allow it
>Adjust roleplaying-related or puzzle-related abilities accordingly, that's what the actual testing is for.
>Take note of if you overshadow another player with a similar role in that role or not; if so, refer to the KFC notes on how to sort that out
>????
>Profit
Your ideal should be "fills a niche that is not done by other classes or requires stupid amounts of multiclassing to even do it in a shitty way". If you CAN multiclass to do something but it takes a massive dip to get the concept (6+ levels in a second class/ multiple multiclasses) then a brew might fulfill the concept better. Avoid GISHes at all costs.

Too strong; this is the Crown paladin's level 7 feature except you teleport and reduce the damage done to you. The halved damage is strong both because it scales and also because it's halved and it's not "you gain resistance;" this means it stacks with damage resistance.
>Aura of Fraternity
Way too strong. If you change the reduction to a something closer to Ancestral Barbarian's aura that would work a bit better

Doesn't matter, you won't get there. True Wingman's effect lasts a bit too long.

Using the conversion rate of 1 Imperial galactic credit to USD is 1 IGC = .62 USD
And that 50 gp is 16 ounces of gold, or a pound of gold
A pound of gold goes for about 21072 dollars
So a gp is around 421.44 usd

In STAR WARS, a class 1 slave, (entertainment slave) can go between 14000 to 30000 galactic credits
So on the low end. 14000 -> 8680usd -> 21gp
On the high end. 30000 -> 18600usd -> 44gp

So a tiefling gladiator/dancer/concubine would run you somewhere In between 21-44 gp, but that still leaves out the cost of the anti magic collar

Spell memorization as a bard was pretty quick compared to a wizard but it's true that at level 10 you still needed 3 hours (and 10 minutes) to reset all your spell slots. It was also a thing that if you didn't use them they were still memorized and the 2e bard, esp with a good kit, didn't actually need to rely on them even though blur and sleep could be hella nice.

There should be a hard cap on how many times you can memorize spells. "The mind cannot take more than one session of memorization every 24 hours" improves the fluff of arcane casters as something outlandy and strange rather than "mundane man but with magic". >DM seems flabbergasted/annoyed that we might trick his precious monster into a cheap death
>We wait 15 minutes and Lil bro never shows
>We spot him at the keep and somehow hear him taunting us to come out
>Tell the DM we use this opportunity to take a short rest and he visibly gets annoyed
>End the session with us planning on sneaking back into the keep to grab our gear. DM laughs and tells us we might run into lil bro again

So /tg/ my question is: how should I go about building an Arcane Archer? I would like an interesting build for my next character next session

Just hit level 8 as an ancients paladin, but due to plot hooks I'm beginning to doubt my relationship with my patron diety. It seems he hates me for losing his daughter when I had nothing to do with it. As a result, I've been thinking about multiclassing. Is now a good time to pick up some fighter levels? Due to unrelated plot events I've befriended a unicorn, so I could consider talking a level in celestial warlock as a different option. Please advise.

And Sorcerer's only learn 15 spells through 20 levels of play and Bards get 22 spells AND can steal 6 spells from other classes spell list to make up for their sparse spell list.

I would honestly say Bards have a much stronger casting than Sorcerers do, sorcerer's have metamagic in an attempt to make up for it.

>At 1st level, you gain proficiency with shields, light armor, and medium armor.

>Metal Attunement
>At 1st level, you learn a ritual that creates a magical bond between yourself and one metal weapon. You perform the ritual over the course of 1 hour, which can be done during a short rest. The weapon must be within your reach throughout the ritual, at the conclusion of which you touch the weapon and forge the bond.
>Once you have bonded a weapon to yourself, you are proficient in it and can use it as a spellcasting focus for your Sorcerer spells. If it is on the same plane of existence, you can summon that weapon as a bonus action on your turn, causing it to teleport instantly to your hand.
>If you attempt to bond with a second weapon, you must break the bond with the first one.

>Extra Attack
>Starting at 6th level, you can attack twice, instead of once, whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.

>Battle Magic
>At 14th level, when you use your action to a cast a sorcerer spell, you can make one weapon attack as a bonus action.

Bam, 80% done. You could probably even give them an expanded spell list like the regular Stone Sorcerer or a free spell like Divine Soul & Shadow Sorcerer if you were so inclined. Capstone could be something powerful: Tenser's Transformation, but without spellcasting restriction maybe? High Sorcery point cost for it.

Party long rested in Leomund’s Hut while a Green Fey civil war ocurred in a massive hedge maze controlled by an archdryad. They burnst through all their spells way too fast and figured they could’t kill any “bosses” in their state. Long story short, the fungal usurper swallowed the archdryad and is currently corrupting the Mother Oak that holds the maze’s, and majority of Green Fey’s power. So now the hedge is exhuding poisonous gas, spore zombies and shambling blights roam the corridors, and they burnt through all their spells again.

They’re level 7 now and still don’t practice good stealth or scoutimg practices, they constantly run ahead of each other and get in over their heads. I think there’s a TPK on the horizon for them if not a one or two surviving in their party of 7.

Is this a decent lesson in “the Hut doesn’t always help” and will this help them work together more? Multiple party members have texted me, annoyed as hell, about how the team acts individually to much. None of them subscribe to anyone being the “leader” of the group per say and I think it’s really hurting them now that our combat is getting harder.

in general:

>Dark Vision
>Quick Healing - when you roll Hit Dice, you can reroll 1s but you have to keep the reroll
>Climb Speed 30
>Adv on Perception involving smell
>has to eat as much as a medium creature each day

>Pack Rat
>+1 Int
>Powerful Build (push/carry capacity as if Medium)
>Skill Proficiency Arcana
>Tinker, but with some (most likely) bullshit trinkets (for auto-sear keep in mind heavy crossbows are at disadvantage for ratfolk)

>Sewer Rat
>+1 Con
>Swim Speed 30 ft
>Poison Resilience
>Superior Darkvision

>Fancy Rat
>Additional Language of choice
>You can take the Help action as a bonus action

It need definite work, both in balance and how to fit with the theming, it feels both overpowered and underwhelming at the same time

It attempted to remedy the trap-filled approach of 3.5 by greatly increasing the number of feats characters get, but in turn increased the number of feat trees, forcing players to to take options that are both mechanically weak and thematically uninteresting in order to get strong feats and still leaving little room for interesting ones.

What's the theme you're going for, anon? As far as balance goes, they're ridiculously mobile (better climbers than tabaxi, better runners than every other small race, and equally skilled swimmers as tritons in the case of sewer rats), fancy rats are basically better kobolds, pack rats are less resilient rock gnomes that can get autocrossbows without burning a feat, and sewer rats are essentially stout hobbits with less courage, luck, and sneakiness, but better night vision and being more difficult to drown.

Paladins require a roll to land a hit then expending a spell slot for an additional 1d8 per spell level.
The Brand doesn't require a roll of any kind. Place a brand, detonate. Auto damage, no roll, no save. So the damage is less.

i'd like to say barbarians too but there's a very specific flavour to most subclasses and the one that should be unflavoured and general purpose as just an angry buff dude, the berserker, got fucked with that exhaustion mechanic. in general it's a great class that works how i'd like it to but you shouldn't have to have animal tokens to achieve a barebones, functional barbarian with minimal gimmicks

I'm trying to build the race around "pet rats" instead of "vermin rats". So basically how rats are, vs the 'expected tropes' about rats/scaven. Friendly, curious, resourceful, and mostly clean. So more Tales of the Riverbank than Warhammer Fantasy.

As far as the movement bonuses, I'll admit I don't exactly know what I'm doing with the Musicus guide with that stat. I find the whole "x ft swim/climb" speed to be hard to compute the way they put it. After reading the rules again it should be 10 or 15 climb and swim speed, because I meant for it to be "can move 30 feet in one round". The other stuff needs work as well. For Pack Rats, I wanted pew pew crossbows to get the Ratling Gunner feel, but there's probably a better way to do that. Along with making Fancy Rats the Bro Rat sub-race.

Jerk off i their ashes, it'll all mix together into a halfphoenix, half whatever, and eventually it'll be bred out so that physically you have no idea that the offspring are part phoenix

You did, anon, lovingly, and because you wanted to be true to your heart for just one night of your life.

I did jerk off in someone's ashes once. That guy I hated growing up has no idea that his grandmother has been one with my jizzum for most of his life now.

My heart is aching a little bit, now.

Gay.

Technically nobody in one's bloodline had to fuck the creature to be a sorcerer of it, with some of them mere exposure is enough to gift them with the power.
...But on the other hand, I'd prefer it if they fucked the birb.

Lolth is also technically a fiend, dummy, the distinction is meaningless at high enough levels of power
