>>63996621>Well don't feel forced. Play it if you enjoy it.I'm sorry I can't make a build for it but I did read through it and it and it is very well done.
>>63996676Yes, some of the witches do care if you have fooled around with other women prior to committing to them, but this mainly from the older witches (Amy, Oda, Wilfreida, Roma, Armana, Kira, etc; mainly the Witches who were born and are from the 19th century) as some of them have worth issues. The younger ones (Mora, Casca, Nara, Gracia, and etc) won't be as bothered as long as you don't bring up previous partners or compare them to a previous partner and just keep it to yourself, they won't ask and you won't tell.

Personal stats can effect kingdom stats.>Crisis DLC that gives bonuses if you can solve the crisis, but a malus if you fail
>>63996949All of these bonuses are so good that I'm afraid that my life will fall apart if I somehow lose my ring. Is this an irrational feel?
>>63999543No, I don't like those changes. I thought you wanted to make a small fan made DLC or something. But this induced large changes, messes with the core mechanics and identity of the CYOA. Instead of editing Princess, you should make your own kingdom builder CYOA.
>>63999543Anon, introducing scifi tech levels would probably be way more difficult than you think, and further subdividing tech into tiny increments would just be annoying.

>>64000314Yeah.......But could you not? I don't want to get off my comfy retirement plan and then go fight an evil dark lord. Also, you don't even have a sword, how can we duel with an epic soundtrack on if you don't have a sword?
Apparently fucktards think that if you get infinite points in Princess you can ignore your blackmailer. That is not the fucking case and it even says so in the fucking rules of that black mail section. My official ruling of what would happen if someone did that is that fate would make you them their kingdom, wealth and everything. They would become a fucking poor peasant and they would be enslaved and used as fucking work slaves (sex slaves are too good for retards like them). That is my official ruling and it cannot be overturned.
>>63999911That's what I thought. My apologies then. I do like what you've made though, so I won't be making my own attempt and basically cribbing off your work; I'd have too much in common. There's a point where it just becomes plagiarism.>>63999917I wasn't thinking sci-fi at all. In fact it'd end at steampunk. There'd just be more distinctions than currently exist. For example...>Bronze Age - Everything is peasant-power and most don't have great tools. Either very traditionalist or otherwise primitive and reactionary>Early Middle Ages - Iron tools for the peasants and a little better organisation. The first huskarls or knights. Usually pretty rustic by world standards>High Medieval/Late Roman - Basic machines like windmills and more central authority>Colonial Era/Enlightenment - Large-scale steel production, the beginning of automation and science. Muskets replace melee as standard. Early tech airships>Steampunk - Mechanised factories, steam power, cartridge rifles and occasional instances of mad scienceThe higher technology also means more central control, but also more free thinkers, potentially leading to unrest... Something like that.
>>64000407Fate is for the weak. And only the meek may be harmed by its machinations.
>>64000407Best part about that text is that you can still bring some comeuppance upon your blackmailer after being humiliated though. You can't cheat your blackmailer that way after all.
>>64000407Nobody cares about your official ruling and have told you to fix your game dozens of time. Just accept that it's broken instead of pitching a fit.
>>64000406>You don't even have a sword, how can we duel with an epic soundtrack on if you don't have a sword?Swords are for heroes i gotta have the meanest looking mace possible>Yeah.......But could you not?As a matter of fact no i can't not do that so i see you at dawn for our scheduled duel to decide the fate of the entire world
>>64000638>The Infinite points are by design as told by him multiple times>The text clearly states you can't bypass the blackmailer if you didn't spend your points in anti-secrets>Whine when there are rule patches for genuine loopholes>M-Muh broken systemI'm not even Tok.
>>64000666Urg, fine. are we still scheduled for the Bi-monthly ring bearers meeting: "How to fight for the balance of the world, safely and constructively" Because i really just want to skip it.Oh and i was cleaning out my wardrobe and i think you may like this.
>>64000678There aren't rules patches. There's just tok trying to fiat up a loss condition for no reason to punish you for beating the game. It has no grounding in logic.
>>64000699...We have a Bi-monthly meeting? Why did no one told me about it?
>>64000754Sorry man, i guess the carrier ravens got scared off. Nenya is the one who bugs me to go anyway, so i suppose its a shame you can't have telepathy or anything. But yeah, on the first Tuesday of the month and the third Wednesday of the month head down past the gates of the hell realm, take the second right on the path past the forest of goodness, up the mountain path and ignore the cute fluffy animals but watch out for their shits. Its the room just past the paladins, the cape racks and the seminars on "Princesses: do's and don'ts of kidnapping"
>>64000738The Real Win build will come up for Ver.2Tok explicitly stated that the lynchpin of it is completely legal too.
>>64000848I see how embarrassing for me to miss a couple of meetings like that though Should i bring something to the next meeting as apology?
>>64001017I normally just bring some sandwiches, so if you could get the drinks that would be great. and try not to get any dwarven stuff or shit that will knock you senseless, the paladins always try taking some and then you can practically hear the rain of falling Armour. It was funny the first time, but it gets old quick.
>>64000407Nope. By what's in the CYOA, you can't "cheat" the blackmailer. If you tell them to go fuck themselves, you aren't cheating them by any definition, as you're still taking all the normal penalties I.E. stat loss. You've just put yourself in a position to be able to take that stat loss without major incident. You're following all the rules as laid out, no cheating involved. An example of actual cheating would be "I just kill my blackmailer, now no one knows" like what's elaborated in that blurb. Something outside the rules of the CYOA.And your "official ruling" is still you throwing a fit outside the CYOA. Want to make this bullshit official? Update the CYOA, and say that. Either give specifics as to how the stat loss happens (for example "recalculate stats as if you had originally taken the stat penalties instead of the secrets", so that the penalties go into effect before the overflow kicks in) or just give an explicit "bad end" for this scenario (What you're saying here).
>>64001103Got it see you at the meeting
>>63998916This was good. I don't normally invest myself in CYOA that much these days, but it caught my eye and I had a pretty good time playing around with it today. Probably helps I'm exactly the right demographic for it. Took some doing, but I managed to get myself to a damn comfy state and 10+ in all stats. My compliments to the author.

>>64001392Retarded one>>64001381AND YOU STILL AIN'T FIXED IT.Because "try anything funny" is too fucking vague. Cheating isn't funny, yet if i cheat then fate does not conspire against me? but if i make him laugh, i am ruined?
>>64000419Then see >>63999917>further subdividing tech into tiny increments would just be annoying
>>63996453I was crafting a build last night but ran out of time - RPing from the perspective that the Exiles worship another aspect of my Trinity build from Divine Pretender. This is quite the undertaking to complete, would probably be easier if I wasn't playing this blind.
>>64001288I'm glad it's easy to play old versions of CYOA and you can't do shit
>>64001381Wow you actually failed to close that loophole. Tok, let me be clear: There is nothing "funny" about this exploit. It is not "cheating". It is a logical extension of the rules as written. We know that infinite stats are allowed and intended. We know that if you refuse your blackmail, you take stat penalties. When you put that together, this is what happens. You're calling people retarded for being able to understand your own rules apparently better than you. Like I said before, you need to add in something explicit if you want to close this loophole, a specific rule for this occurrence, because otherwise this is the logical result, not some weird twisting of words or cheating.
>>64000908It probably involves futa dicks or something else retarded.
>>64001472The only thing I did was to make the description clearer in the new version. You still can't cheat.
>>64001504Still not cheating.
>>64001446You say 'annoying', I say 'interesting'! I guess it's only a secondary interest for a princess-maker CYOA with a focus on lewd though.
>>63996453So when are we having a CYOA general dominions multiplayer game?
>>64001381>Thinking this is an actual fix The secret rules were just the logical interpretation of "making your secrets known"; the real problem was how the EXPLICITLY STATED infinite stats worked with the fundamental mathematical law that Infinity plus or minus any finite number is still infinity. You did literally nothing except make it less clear that it works exactly the same way as it did before.

>>64001857>ssSantera is for mating press by a grown man who will hold her close and treat her like the woman she is, you homo.
>>64001381As one of the people with an infinite stat build I did not feel it was cheating. The blackmail only has power because my secrets could be reveled. If I have infinite purity/approval then I am immune to scandal. In any case >>64001491 is right you still did not fix the "loophole". It still says "if you don't play along with your blackmailer they will make your secrets known". Ergo play along or suffer the stat penalty. So play along for a day get infinite stats , then tell the blackmailer to piss of and suffer infinity minus whatever stat penalty's you would incur. If you want to fix it you need to say that the stat penalty's will be calculated before the bonus points are calculated.
>>64001494The main concept doesn't involve that, oh no no no.I have something far more devious in mind.

>>64000699... if I have three rings, does my voice count as three votes?
If anyone's just tuning in to the Princess tripe, here's a five-point breakdown of the facts:1) The blackmail section states, in effect, "Play along or get the Secrets converted to stat penalties"2) Builds can say "I choose the stat penalties" and subtract Purity and Appeal from their stats while removing their Secrets3) According to Tok's standards, builds with finite stats (which are explicitly allowed by his CYOA) can make use of this strategy just fine and it 4) Also according to Tok's standards, builds with infinite stats (also explicitly allowed by both the CYOA and his personal statements) may NOT make use of this strategy, as it is "cheating" and "something funny"5) No rules in Tok's CYOA even hint at this distinction between finite and infinite stats, only his personal and un-explained insistence
>>64002327>fuck you Tok >I want to cheat
>>64001288My, my.Tok listened to feedback? This is a first. There may be hope for him yet.
>>64002380Nah, that update was just his aspie REEE now that he can't ignore the people criticizing him.The actual FEEDBACK (about how the update fixes literally nothing and only makes the cyoa worse) is getting promptly ignored and shat on, just like always.
>>64001795It has something to do with spirit weapons, you get to choose one as a waifus, and the one we've seen secretly wants to escape with you
>>64002327Isn't it a matter of order of operation, like you have to take the stat penalties before you tally up the final scores and are able to go infinite?
>>64002369Listen Tok, even if your cyoa had consistent, well thought and explained rules they wouldn't be able to stop someone who wanted to cheat in a game of pretend.
>>64002470Yeah, but people are dumb
>>64002470But you can go along with the kidnappers temporarily, thus gaining the infinite stats, and THEN allow your secrets to be revealed, taking the stat penalties out of your infinite stats. It's Order of Operations, but the player has been given explicit control of the Order.
>>64002550That's stupid, since your stats don't, and can't change once you've completed the CYOA. That's how CYOAs work.
>>64002577It explicitly states that, whenever you stop going along with your kidnappers, your secrets change. That's allowing your stats to change at any time, even after you've "finished" your build.
>>64002231Can someone help me with this? I want to make a build but this can severely change my decision.
>>64002231I'm pretty sure resources are limited to each page, so any source of resources (highest stat, affinity, bonuses) don't carry over to next page.
>>64002593Right, but you're looking at it like it subtracts from your stats, rather than it recalculating your stats from scratch, which would be the more logical approach. Not that you shouldn't enjoy it however you want, I'm just saying that's how I sort of interpreted it when I was looking at if I could afford to drop the secret after seeing my final totals.
Hey, this was fun last thread! Here's Anon's (Veronic's?) Sleight of Hand CYOA.Crime time, boys. Get ready to make stacks.
>>64002782The blackmailer is part of the build, though. Refusing it is an active decision that has to be made after the build has been compiled. That's how character creation works.
>>64002801Ah FUCK I got them in the wrong order. Also, why is one a .png while the other is a .jpg?
>>64002782I can see why you'd interpret it that way, but it doesn't make sense to me. The secrets being revealed after I've established myself as infinitely popular, wealthy, pure, and approved-of doesn't retroactively change people's opinions, it affects them as they currently are.
>>64002577>That's stupid, since your stats don't, and can't change once you've completed the CYOA.So you can go slut around the literal entire country, and so long as it's by choice and not mandated by a curse or drawback, it won't bring you down from regular old 10 to regular old 9?Actually, with the current status of the CYOA, that might actually be possible - it doesn't explicitly state that your secrets getting out loses you points anymore, so the only explicit post-build stat alteration is gone.
>>64001362Tok, people are saying "once I've made my build, everything that happens afterwards is just narrative." So they can start their new life with their build as described, and then go back later to change elements of their build once the narrative has started. If you disapprove of this and want to 'fix' it, then you need to bind them to their decisions, remove infinite stats, or enforce some sort of order of operations for stat recalculation. You also have the option of saying "that's not what I intended, but I'm not the imagination police so do what you want." I'm pretty sure you've done that before.
>>64002830>regular old 10 to regular old 9*Precisely 10 purity to so much as 9?In any case, your actions can 100% affect the CYOA in ways that aren't explicitly modeled by a build - otherwise, literally everyone would have to gain a sugar addiction the moment their parents died.

So they can start their new life with their build as described, and then go back later to change elements of their build once the narrative has started.Except "if you go against your blackmailer, your secrets will be let out" is a choice explicitly offered in the CYOA that can (by definition) only be done after your build is "completed". Heck, now it doesn't even explicitly state you lose stats from it at all!

The dramatic moniker; the hoarding of your trophies; the smugposting showing your loot off... You've even got a romance with one of your crew!Admit it; you were born for this life. It's such a dis-service to hide in the shadows! In faaact, why don't we make this interesting? You know The Silent Pledge? 24-karat white gold, set with three paragon blue diamonds, once described by Aldalio Giovetti as 'the most exquisite wedding band in history'? It's being sold at auction soon, for what is expected to be a frankly disgusting sum of money. Add to that, one Tak-Sin Prem is especially interested in buying it for his bride-to-be... A girl of just 13. I won't go into the details of Tak-Sin's 'professional' life but suffice it to say, he is a thoroughly repulsive character.I propose a small contest: Whoever steals the band first, the other owes them a small token of their appreciation from their collection. In anticipation of your acceptance, I have already taken the liberty of sending a calling card to China Guardian's Hong Kong auction house, signed with both our names. I do look forward to seeing you there, or not as the case may be.P.S.: Do be sure to put on a show, as Tak-Sin Prem will be in personal attendance at the auction.

You don't even go for the big money in bonds or the like!Face it: we could be rich and legal, but we flaunt the law for a reason; we WANT to. It's the thrill of it, the surge of adrenaline that's common to us as humans, whether we're pilfering priceless works of art, or children with our hands in the cookie jar. The sooner you realise the ridiculousness of our nature and embrace it, the sooner you can learn to smile at your life. And that smile, my friend, is the second-most precious thing in my collection, after the knowledge of the good I've helped do....Third is that Oscar for Best Actor. I still can't believe we managed to pull that off; what the fuck was I ON when I planned that?!Anyway, want to join in our little contest? >>64004007 I know it's not your typical fare, but come on, live a little!
>>63997158Alchemist is the best girl!
>>64004007Such a treasure would deserve a place of prominence in my hoard, indeed! But your approach to such a challenge shows the naivety of dramatic personas such as yourself. Steal the ring during the auction? True, such a feat would be more challenging, but all the more entertaining would be to make sure the ring never reaches the auction at all. The ring will be examined countless times, as each potential buyer has an expert that they can trust to ensure The Silent Pledge is the genuine article. How foolish will they all look if I can make a replica that passes all of their inspections? Naturally, it would be nearly impossible to do... but that's why myself and Rasha will be personally in attendance, to mingle with the experts and grease the wheels a bit. After all, none of them have ever seen the ring in person before, so they don't know quite what to expect. Certain planted doubts from another expert in the field of gems and jewelry will call their own skills into question, engineering them into agreeing with the status quo, assuring their patrons that it is the real McCoy.Further, I plan to bid on the ring at auction. I want to make this Tak-Sim Prem spend his entire fortune on this bit of shiny that so captivates minds. Such a large payment can only be handled through direct transfer, which means I have a certain contact who, for, say, 20% of the take, can re-rout the funds directly into my coffers. I have to make some profit off this job, after all, and I'm certainly not parting with any of the auction items I've stolen. But you know, just to add insult to injury, I will, in fact, steal the ring, my fake ring, at the auction, after the bidding has ended and the ring is on its way back to the vaults. Tak-Sin is going to get a box that contains nothing but a polaroid of my hand, holding that of my dear Rasha, on whose slender fingers will sparkle The Silent Pledge.

I fear your chances to examine the ring will be limited however, as my calling card is bound to have stirred up the hornet's nest. I hear the Hong Kong police have received special instructions direct from Zhao Kezhi himself - the CCP's Minister of Public Security. The theft of The Silent Pledge, it seems, will not only be a direct insult to Tak-Sin Prem, but the Communist Party itself!I'm positive I've scared my poor systems expert with my excited giggling at least once already.I will confess, your plan indeed had me somewhat breathless, so I hope you won't object to a little friendly sabotage? Nothing so crass as to sell you out of course, but merely some mingling of my own and the occasional bit of flattery to the esteemed experts present.I especially like your idea of intercepting that ogre's finances. If you can pull that off, my hat (were I ever to wear one) will be well and truly off to you. I have my own designs for Mister Prem's fortunes, but those involve my lockpicks and the safe he thinks secure in his private mansion in Phuket. As for my own plans... Well you'll just have to wait and see, I'm afraid. If I were to spoil my intentions now, there would simply be no drama to the reveal after all! >>64004902They’re probably asleep. It’s late in Burgertonia. >>63996453Anyway, thinking over it, I’ve got some thoughts for when they do wake up. First, as discussed, power is absolutely the way to go. At least, on image one - but due to how resources work, specializing in one of the three is your best bet, since you get more resources with 3-3-6 than you do with 4-4-4. That means you end up getting pushed towards power as a speciality unless you try and break the mold. The first issue could be fixed with a bit of rearrangement - namely, giving the 4+ in one PPP the free +1, and giving 3 Power the way to negate Starvation. The second could be fixed if more affinities were available, and were cross-stat. E.g., Dhampirs have an affinity for the Heavenly Kingdom, and Mechanica for the Alterian Empire. Third, it’s kind of frustrating to try and guess what’s going to be relevant in the future or not. E.g., you get two choices of animal, and only one of them matters in the same image. You also pick from four different types of art, and can potentially spend all your resources on them... and the only relevance is whether you bought one or not. Cultural Features doesn’t even have that. On the other hand, there’s a lot of interesting interactions with the God you pick throughout the entire CYOA. I’d say find opportunities for more interconnectedness. It’s still a great CYOA, don’t get me wrong. I just think there’s room for improvement.

>>63996453This took me a few hours. I hope you enjoy-*The Ogres*Page 1: Prologue>Race: Half Giants (+2 Pow)We call ourselves the Ogres. Rejected and faced with extreme prejudice, our ancestors struck out to our ancestral homelands where we could live in peace.>Origin: Alterian Empire (+1 Pow)We didn't choose where we came from. Our villages were scattered across the land, but the sprawl of the Alterian Empire continued to grow, continued to claim more of the land we called home. Within a few generations, we were vassals of a foreign power, gradually displaced and subjugated. For every road, there was a village that now had corrupt tax collectors stealing from their larders. For every guard post built, our carts were seized without reason. For every missionary, a pointless war by leaders who viewed us as living pawns.>Divinity: The Triumvirate (+1 Pow, +1 Res)Many of our kind found solace in worshipping the faith of the Empire's merchants. Perhaps they truly believed. Perhaps they thought it would allow them a foothold in the society that continually rejected us.
>>64005298>>63996453>TraditionsIntrinsic Magic: We have no need for foreign armies. Each Ogre bears the spark of the divine within. What greater power could one seek?Natural Rights: No longer shall we have the boot of an uncaring Empire on our necks. To be an Ogre is to be free.Horizontal Society: We care little for lords and empires. We come together to face outside foes, but we seek to be left alone.Dynamism: Our society is not rigid. An ogre may be a fungi farmer, a warrior and a respected elder over the course of his life. Each Ogre carves his own path in his own piece of the swamp.Applied Arts: The Empire always seemed to find an additional tax or levy that we had to pay, until we had nothing. Despite the loss of our art objects, we did not lose our love of beauty. Look closely at my leather cloak. It seems ordinary, but put it beside Grom's and Soola's, and you have a tapestry that tells the story of our people.>BoonsPromised Land: The swamps. Rejected by elves and men, who saw them as ugly and unworthy. This is where we would make our home.Unexpected Allies: Kobolds. They understood what we sought to build in the swamps across the sea. Some of them live among us to this day, though Ogres and Kobolds have a mutual understanding to keep their affairs seperate. (+1 Pros)A Mysterious Island: Some chose to stop there after their vessels were marooned by the great squall. We pray that the war never found them.>Banes:Storm: We gave much of what we had to those who could not continue with us. Our brothers and sisters across the sea. >>64004850The funniest part is that he somehow FAILED to "change it so you can't". Not that he gave up, not that he said "who cares", no he tried to fix the loophole and failed. If anything he made the problem worse.
>>64005308>>63996481Page 2: The Colony (4 Resources)>Leader: The Sage (+1 Pow)Though they mocked us all as unintelligent brutes, they were wrong. The wisest of the Ogres, Yorut of the Bog, guided us to our new land. It is he who received the visions of the swamps across the sea, our true ancestral land. It is he who guided us there, and led us in carving our paths.>Location: Primordial Marshlands (+1 Pros)We were welcomed by the great swamp. It welcomed us, and in turn we showed it the utmost reverence.>Animals: Tree Monnes, Zarasets (+1 Res)We became familiar with these creatures. Ogres did not come to destroy. Some would follow, but their arrogance would lead them to be spat out by the swamp.>Natives: Bullywugs (Pop:5, Pro:3+1, Pow:4)Small, amphibian creatures. They attempted to raid us at first, but quickly retreated back to their spawning pools after they realized that they underestimated their strength. If you see a group of them, stand tall and grip your cudgel. They will flee without a second thought.>First Stone: Town Hall (+1 Pop)A great hall, where the wise elders would convene when it was necessary. Ogres care little for laws and stratified structure, but they respect the word of the moot.>Land Distribution: Communal (+1 Res)This is the land of the Ogres. What good is it if one of us claims a rich swath of land if their neighbour has no where to forage and seed their giant puffballs? No, Ogres own the land they use. And greedy Ogres will pay the price of attrition as other Ogres seize the lands they leave fallow.
>>64005315>>63996481>Policies>Harbor Built (+1 Pros)More Ogres followed after the first wave. Rudimentary harbor settlements on the margins of the great swamp began to form, providing a flow of goods to the majority population inland.>Founding the Militia (+1 Pow)An Ogre must always be ready to fight for his freedom, lest another empire put us under their heel. Though we may have our squabbles over territory and faith, we know that foreigners must be met with a unified response.>HospitalWe had immunity to the diseases of the swamp, as the sage foretold.>CleansingThere were some among us who did not share our idea of peaceful isolationism. They wanted to subjugate the bullywugs, but the moot would have none of it. They departed, away from our territory to parts unknown.>Pacific Isolation (-1 Strain, +1 Bullywug Pros.)Foreigners do not understand. We wish to be left alone. And the only way for this to be is to keep Ogre business amongst the Ogres. The bullywugs would continue to attempt their pathetic raids, and most would be repelled.>Boons>A Miraculous Return (+1 pop)Many years would pass before we would hear from our brothers and sisters who were marooned on the island so long ago. The war had reached them, and many had turned to piracy and belligerence. Some still held onto the dream of our people, sailed southward, and joined us.>Servants Presence (+1 Pow)While we left the Alterian Empire behind, their Gods followed.>An Unexpected Pupil (+1 Pros)The bullywugs fiefs that did not view us as monsters endeavoured to learn more about us. We showed little interest, but apparently it was enough to earn the respect of a small few.>Botanic Riches, Successful Domestication (+1 Pop, +1 Pros)The Sage was correct. We thrived. This truly was our destiny.
>>64005336>>63996481>BanesDivision (-1 Pros, +1 Strain)The kobolds did not seek to stay, and we did not want them with us anyway. Some ogres, however, sought to make themselves Kings over the Bullywugs. Their departure created some social upheaval.>Vampiric Threat (-1 pop, +1 strain)Some of those who settled deep into the swamps never returned. It would only be later that the conquering Ogres corrupted themselves in exchange for power. Peace was impossible, and we would lose lives to this threat for many years.Subtotal: 1 Pop, 2 Pros, 8 Power, 1 Strain
>>64005344>>63996500Page 3: The City (7 Resources)>Dominant Faction: Anarchy (+1 Pow)>Political Structure: Anarchy (+1 Pop)There is little in the way of social class. Some ogres are more respected than others, but Ogres it is only a mutual understanding that binds them to the ideals of their forefathers.>Chronocracy: It is the oldest and wisest whose words have the most sway. The hotblooded young Ogres who fails to listen to their elders will spend their years weaving mishappen trails.>Regional Supremacy: Subjugation (+1 pros)Despite the idealistic pacifism of the original exiles, those who departed from the colony were wildly successful in their battles with the Bullywugs. The raids would diminish, and eventually bullywugs would retreat further into the barren bog. They would not bother us again, save for some sheepish traders and daring thieves.>Rival: Imperial Colony (Pop:5,Pro:4,Pow:6-1)The imperial subjugators would not leave us to our devices. This caused great upheaval amongst the Ogres, leaving many Ogres to wonder if the isolationism could really be relied upon to safeguard our people's freedom.NOTE: if anyone wants to rival the Ogres, be my guest.>Magic: Unregulated (-1 Strain)Ogre shamans are respected for their power.>Free Militia (+1 pop)The militia formed in the colony's inception would grow from a simple mob to a complex people's army. Leaders were chosen based on ability and experience, and soon a number of regional defense forces would form. While a necessity in light of hostile forces, many Ogres were suspicious of these military leaders, with good reason.
>>64005358>>63996500>Policies>A New Faith: Ancestral PaganismThe support for the old faith waned as tensions flared with the Alterian presence in the new world. Many Ogres had little interest in erecting grand temples, preferring to preserve the swamp as their protector and provider.>Regional InfrastructureThe great distances between Ogrish settlements was compounded by our low population. Steps had to be taken to keep communication and defense alive.>Explorer's Guild (+1 Pros)In that age, Ogres did not live well in close proximity to one another. Increasing social organization led many to strike out on their own. Soon, Ogres would occupy every mile of the great swamp, each controlling a sizeable swath of territory.>Opening the mines (+1 pow)>Undermine Efforts (-1 Pow, -1 Alterian Pow)If we were to fight the Alterians once more, we would need to seek out new resources. Religious sensibilites prohibited draining the swamp, so many of the militia leaders raided the new imperial mining settlements- partly for resources, partly out of fear. Much blood was shed, and many prominent Ogrish elders were furious. The cries of the elders had fallen on deaf ears for a long time, and now the militias had begun to organize further. Vrekor From Across the Sea, the greatest of the free generals, carved his name into history. The swamp was no longer big enough for each Ogre to have his own large plot of land. Vrekor led numerous strong warriors into the Alterian lands, forcing them off the shores. Kobold settlements, our former peaceful neighbours, were subjugated and forced to pay tribute. It was in this age that we became the empire we hated.>Education: Uncommon (+1 Pros)>Divine Presence: Widespread (+1Pros)>Maintained NeutralityThe divine swamp, it expanded into our new lands. The glistening farmlands gradually moistened into swamp and bog- a land we tamed well. Many ogres would send their children to be educated under the shamans, explorers, or warriors such that our cycle of growth and dominance could continue. The Swamp God had been born, and he would claim the new world while the others squabbled over the old.

Many chose to remain in chains, and now were looking to us to help free them. We would teach them the new ways and guide them to their destiny.>A Monument to the PastOur isolationist roots were given lip-service. Our conquest was praised as self-defense- that our people were merely expanding so they could be left alone. Deep down, we knew the truth.>The Arsenal>Manufactories (+1 pop)Suddenly, all the ports from the old world were at our disposal. We would weave our ships from magic. We would use this fleet to prevent further intrusions onto the new continent.>Wonders>The Divine Gate (+2 Pow)The energy of the Swamp God began to pour through the gate opened at its centre. The former colonies of the Alterians became unrecognizeable. Even the uncolonized lands began to feel the influence of the Swamp God.>The Flying Fortress (+2 Pow)Vrekor arrived in a flying warmachine from across the sea, built by our distant cousins who ruled the seas, though he claimed he was given it by the divine. It bore no mark of the swamp, but by the end of his campaigns, woody vines began to climb up onto it, forming a great, stationary fortress from which the strongest Ogrish general would reign. It would change hands numerous times after Vrekor's death.
>>64005387>>63996524>Boons>Archeological Discovery (+1 Pros, +1 Pow)>Magic School of Psionics (+1 Pros)>The Lost General>Golden Age (+1 pros, +1 pop)Vrekor transformed our loose federation of militias and hermits into a vast empire where each Ogre was his own King. The shamans, empowered by the growth of divine swamp magic, developed new theories based off of ancient bullywug affinities, now credited to the Ogrish people. The Ogrish people had reached its zenith.>Banes>The Strix Conspiracy (-2 Pros, -1 Pow)The vampiric Ogres of old had not all been defeated- They had merely learned to disguise amongst the others as military leaders and enthusiastic firefrands. Perhaps intentionally or unknowingly Vrekor's conquests had allowed them to multiply their power exponentially. While the Ogrish people were enjoying the fruits of their expandsion in relative stability, the seeds had been sown for the destruction of our people.Total: 5 Pop, 10 Pros, 17 Pow, 0 strain
>>64005394>>63996621Page 5: EpilogueThe Ogre Kingdoms had made their mark- the conquest of the new world. Some referred to them as the hermit kingdoms, as the desire to spread out and hold territory left them only united in times of war, when the discontented children of the previous generation would set out to carve out new realms through colonization or subjugation. Many an enterprising crusader, conqueror or pretender would attempt to set foot on the land of the Swamp God, and for many centuries, they were repelled. The Ogrish Kings, manipulated by the vampires and supported by their pirate cousins, launched numerous raids against the old world- military conflicts which continue to splill blood this day.The Ogres will suffer for turning from their peaceful roots. I tell you this as a warning, my child. The time is coming. Soon, the violence and destruction we have brought about will consume us. We will transform into beasts in Ogrish form- cannibals who seek only to conquer, claim and destroy. We will turn our anger to one another, and the Ogrish kings will kill each other until we our greatness is no more. Please, follow me, young one. We are going to sail off- further south. Away from the fetid Swamp God and his bloodthirsty servants. We will leave in the night, and maybe- just maybe- we will survive in peace.
>>64005370Hmm.Just look up any of 3_tankista's works. That guy's renowned for overdesigning his cyoa.
>>64005311The whole thing is implicit in itself. The worst a blackmailer can do is ultimately use the black mail against you. Lots of people IRL have said DO IT and come out better than if they gave in. I might add the stat penalties are not that bad since you get about 10 points for each penalty while getting a stat is 5 points most of the time. Not to mention that purity is a dump stat and approval only needs to be 4 or higher.
>>64005370What >>64005409 said. 3_tankista makes the finest CYOAs I've ever seen. They're beautiful, well-written and fun to play. I've spend tens of hours writing builds for his stuff and run an RPG campaign based off of one of them- he's that good.
>>64005435He seems like a reasonable guy too.
>>64005370Look no farther my friend, for I bring you a mere sliver of _v's light.May it guide you to the path of righteousness.
>>64005370How do YOU define polish?
>>64005567Are there multiple definitions?Make sure the writing is clear and concise, that the CYOA looks great aesthetically, and that the choices are balanced and work well together.
>>64005582Oh, in that case you might not want to get into 3_tankista's work. Kinda overcomplicated, with many choices not granting the stats expected. Here's this, by Imaginos. Balance isn't an issue here, it's a e s t h e t i c, and it's great overall.Do you value writing, or aesthetics more?
>>64005648>Thinking balance is only about stats
>>64005648>>64005668Are stats not a part of balance?Or are you saying that this particular cyoa has balance issues? I didn't mean to imply that it didn't have them BECAUSE it had no stats.
>>64005685Nah, it's more so that there's a common sentiment that I see around here. That when a CYOA adds numbered stats, suddenly the fluff and text doesn't matter and anons just look at the numbers to decide whether an option is good or not.
stats are bad. don't do stats.
>>64005689>>64005712To be fair, if the cyoa's ending depends on the numbers, it's kinda justified. If all options cost the same, but I choose the flavor (ice, nuclear, slicing...), then yeah. But if my choice for some reason doesn't grant nearly enough stats as it should in comparison to other options, then that's a balance issue.
fucking finally, took me an hour to get caught up from last Friday. Not checking the threads every day is a pain.On the plus side, Exiles is fucking released. HELL YES
I like this one because it's a joke but three of them are legitimately useful options.
>>64005854cheff excellence is the only choice
>>64005829>fucking finally, took me an hour to get caught up from last FridayAll you missed out on was Tok until you got to this thread anyway.
>>64005298It's too long to read, but I respect you for finishing what I never could.
>>64005743The numbers should only serve as a ballpark. Imagine that you have a fantasy CYOA, and you pick an option that gives you a dragon mount that doesn't have any numbers listed. Does that mean that a warrior with 10 combat points will beat a warrior with 9 combat points and a dragon mount? Of course not! Imagination is a necessity!
>>64005854Mystery box didn't show upSo I guess I'll go with Chef Excellence.
>>64006059Like you said, if endings or such are going to be tied to stats, then everything should be mentioned, given a number, and balanced sufficiently (unless it actually has no bearing).
>>64006056I appreciate it, anon. I hope the author reads it an enjoys it though. Maybe I'll toss the Ogre Kings into an RPG game I'm running so the memory stays alive.
>>64005712>when a CYOA adds numbered stats, suddenly the fluff and text doesn't matter >anons just look at the numbers to decide whether an option is good or not.>>64005743>if the cyoa's ending depends on the numbers, it's kinda justified.Wholeheartedly agree with >>64006059. Numbers are best used as a ballpark, and especially not the sole determinate for endings. Like Last City had good fluff, but anons' imaginative combinations or personal stories could not effect the ending at all.
>>64001424>Because "try anything funny" is too fucking vague.Do you have autism?
>>64005854I, Cato Sicarius, find this cyoa highly amusing.
>>64006205I mean, he is playing AN 8-page CYOA about being a raped royal
>>64005854The "I can't permanently be killed" option is pretty sweet. I choose that, because eh, once a week ain't bad.
>>64006299I'm sure you'll get used to bleeding out through the lacerated mound of tissue formally known as your ballsack enough times to make it worth it, anon
Will post Coronation next

>>64006304I mean it'd only take a couple of times for you to get used to it desu, what was once horrifying and painful quickly becomes a mundane experience.
>>63996453Big ups to the creator of this. We need more good kingdom builders. And this actually feels like I'm playing, rather than reading.
>>64006299>>64006338>It's monday. You're at work>"It could happen at any time", you think to yourself>Drive extra carefully during commute>"Phew, no car accident where I have a rebar piercing through my eyeball and I have to endure the excruciating pain for a half hour before expiring">Go up the stairs to your office>"Phew, didn't fall to the bottom and shatter everything in my body except for my central nervous system, so I can experience the agonizing pain while EMTs pick me up from the ground, contort me into a position that fits on the stretcher before dying of cerebrospinal fluid leakage while in the ambulance">Get to your desk, open drawer>Snakes leap out of the drawer and lunge for your crotch, inducing searing pain causing you to fall backward into a filing cabinet that cuts you and falls over. Hundreds of millipedes scatter out from behind the filing cabinet, crawling into your orifices and biting you. Your coworkers rush to see the cause behind the screams of agony as your roll on the floor with your face burried in filth, squashed bugs and snakesB-but hey, at least you live forever, right?
>>64006379Forever's a long damn time to get used to things.
>>64006436Fun fact: chronic pain gets harder to deal with over time, not easier. Most kinds of hardship in fact work like that. Your will is slowly worn down until you are a husk of a human.
What's this I hear about an infinite stats exploit?
>>64006507People would try to get infinite points in Princess by getting like 11 Purity and 11 Approval so they feed off each other. 11 Purity gives +1 Approval. Which makes it 12 Approval. Then 12 Approval gives +2 Purity. Which puts you up to 13. Which then adds to approval and so on and so forth. Now this was a feature not a bug.People then thought that the penalties for fighting against the Blackmail when applied to this would be infinity-penalty. Which is still infinity. So they would load up on blackmail and then try and negate it by just saying no and they would still have infinite points.Tok being an idiot tried to fix it in a dumb way by instead just saying if you ignore your Blackmailer your nation is doomed.
>>64006436What do you mean by "get used to it?"The CYOA states you will die painfullyIf choking on tiny spiders that are biting you with venom that magnifies the activity of your pain receptors while giving you a raging erection that spews blood just isn't that painful to you anymore, then you will get something even more painful until you feel it.Basically, you are essentially increasing the amount of pain and torture you will undergo every week you live. You're essentially signing yourself up for an eternity of torture. Might as well go to hell and meet a succubus and get to meet your friends and family.
>>64006308Nice. Creative and nightmarish.
>>64006309But your consciousness will persist forever anyway due to being imbued with an imperishable soul. All that is uncertain is whether you are going to exist in eternal contentment or eternal torment, and this choice seems to preclude one of the two.

>>64006712Wow, that is a lot bigger than I remember.

>>63996819>The younger ones (Mora, Casca, Nara, Gracia, and etc) won't be as botheredUnless you simply mean "they will be bothered but can be convinced to put up with it" (rather than "they don't value it themselves"), that's absolutely degenerate. You should make the hedonists use Sartre, not those who value morality. It's fitting for them, the hedonist bottomfeeders, to need the work of a literal commie cuck to fulfill their vile fantasies, don't you think?
>>64001288>1.9 to 2.0, very minor change. what is version control.
>>64006910First, its Tok. Pic related.Second, don't expect Tok to update anymore anyway. I am frankly surprised he did at all but again see above.

If an affinity option refers to a previous choice, you receive the resource point only for the chapter you are currently playing.Sorry for the late response, but I was sleeping.>>64005149Actually I'm from Italy, and sorry but I had a busy morningAbout the pixies, well they are not naturally stretchy, but they are fey, which means they are powerful natural mages. I'm sure with the right spell and some alchemy the problem can be solved. You make some very good points on the balance of the first page. I'll have to change things around. The original idea was that you'd want to specialize, but not too much otherwise you'd get punished by too many banes firing, but in the meantime the triggers shifted towards more about the choices you've made (and the build in general) and less about the stats themselves, which leaves more freedom to develop the build as you want without having to take stuff you don't want in order not to get screwed. On the frustration... well the not knowing exactly what will be useful is actually kind of by design, after all you would not know what you'll find in the future. Also traditions in origin had no influence outside the first chapter, they were there as pure flavor, but in time I tried to integrate them more. I agree that the CYOA puts a lot more importance on the chosen god, but that is because religion is a matter of life and death (you are escaping from a fantasy WW1 after all). The setting is pretty much Dominions the CYOA, after all.Still It would be nice to have more interactivity, I'll se what I can do.>>64005308Always nice to read some narration in the builds.>>64006319Pretty good final stats. Well, I've balanced it better than I expected it seems, though there are still some quirks (like the imbalance in favor of power).>>64006361Thanks, anon.
>>64001537Soon anon.>>64001452Well the nice thing about the chapter structure is that it allows you to stagger your progress. And/or to conclude the build early if you don't care for later stages.
