>>
>>63402068
Well she still has the personality of a child, but I guess you're right.
>>
>>63402096
This is true of more adults than would admit it.
>>
>>63402145
It will be for so long as we can't agree on a definition of "adult." Does it mean "responsibility?" A wise old hermit is not a child, but he has no real responsibilities. Does it mean "maturity?" How do you define "maturity?" Some say that aggression is juvenile, but others find an aversion to it to be childishly naive. Who can say who's right? Is it "agency?" Does anyone really have agency? Wouldn't that make only absolute monarchs adults, because only they have no outside impositions on their choices or the consequences of such?

Is a cohesive, universal definition of "adult" even possible, and if so, who could possibly have the authority to enforce and dictate such a definition?

Exactly. Sure the Warp has malevolent gods and evil space sorcerers (A.k.a. psykers). However the benevolence of The Force is already questionable at best, and Star Wars already had evil space sorcerers (a.k.a. the sith). So that's not much of a change.

Meanwhile Star Wars already has faster than light travel. So that aspect of the Warp is unlikely to be an issue. So the only real change I can think of that would be relevant is that the Warp is better at being an afterlife than the Force is.

Less living like Diogenes and more speaking frankly instead of the circlejerk that Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle did where they were part of a massive circlejerk, even by ancient Greek standards. Most tragedies that happen in Star Wars happens from moral-grandstanding and giant speeches instead of just sitting down at a table with a drink and hearing out what the other has to say. Diogenes may not be the perfect example, but what I mean is that I avoided a teaching style/culture that was as snooty as a high-elf, and to remind my students that while yes they have power and that brings responsibility, you're still a person.

Terraria has lots of special bows&arrows.
I imagine lots of fantasy jumps with elves have perks/items relating to archery/hitting things.
Elder Scrolls has a "summon bow" spell thats great.
Souleater weapons could be a bow form.
Dark Souls and Monster hunter have Greatbows.
In Anima you could be a really good ranger. it has a pretty high skill level.
On that note DnD obviously has ranger and its various prestige classes.
Overlord would make you pretty good at it i imagine.

Oh and one of the scenario challenges in Waltraute is about archery

Ryoko Asakura from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya hasn't done anything like that, but crafting and healing should be within her capabilities. Could probably work if you got the Sidereals perk to get prayer from stuff that normally wouldn't give anything, since you normally need a souled creature (preferably human, since they're designed for maximum prayer efficiency, but other things work) to get effective prayer.
>>
>>63403149
You better have a really damned good argument, but I imagine it's not out of the realm of possibility.
>>
>>63402934
Joy.
Normally, I'm more a fan of your school of jumpmaking than the ones looking for any excuse to throw in an unrepresentative level of power, buuuut...

You're making an incredible case for why in-depth scenarios for Jumpchain are something of a dead-end idea. It forces you into a scenario where you can either preserve the premise that the jumper actually has agency and their actions and power have meaning, or you can preserve the element of choice and economizing on rewards. If you do the former, you preserve the narrative authenticity of the 'chain and allow the jumper to actually apply their expertise to the situation, but in doing so have to give up control over the reward economy to the jumper. If you do the latter, meanwhile, you can control the reward economy, but the result is that the jumper might as well literally be playing a prewritten choose your own adventure book Jumpchan handed to them, because their actions are all forced into the framework of actions you crafted to preserve said economy of rewards.

It's an inherently broken system.
>>
>>63403048
The flippant answer is "because they're poorly written and really broken as a result". But if we're talking about how Sidereal Martial Arts are supposed to work, they're the most sophisticated and advanced form of kung fu in Exalted, with many abstract and powerful effects. Let's look at Kaleidoscopic Border of Logic Style. It starts with punching someone so hard he forgets he's not a figment of your imagination. It moves on through various other mind-editing techniques, removing language from someone's mind or causing amnesia or the like. Then it goes into directly warping logic, things like making you a non-entity so that effects that target you find nothing to target and don't work, or ascending past physicality to temporarily become a reality warper, or converting the entire fight into an extended metaphor where people have to engage you in entirely separate forms of conflict to be able to damage you. SMA do weird things, and often very powerful ones. If you just care about biggatons go elsewhere, but if you're looking for hax, Sidereal Martial Arts are some of the best you'll find in Exalted.

I've always seen and been under the impression scenarios are just meant to be guidelines for telling a story, desu. Like sure you may be unqualified for the reward, but...nothing's stopping you from just stripping the place bare on your way out either. Hmmm. Would the Looted Armor be useable for the Felinids?

The space marine stuff probably isn't, since they'd require a black carapace (and I've got space marines to give it to anyway). But would the Vratine stuff be useable by them? I mean, they /are/ 8-feet tall amazons, the armor might be a bit small.

Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where there's no real way to solve it beyond trashing the entire thing.

There has to be some kind of balance, but in order to achieve the balance of narrative and economy there's going to be something that's cannibalized from either side. As you pointed out, one can either go for flexibility and have little to no ability to attain a form of cohesion or instead can try to lock down a framework and end up locking out some potential outcomes in the process for the sake of organization. No side is perfect, and they both have their flaws. But that's the nature of the beast. At the least, I am trying to keep the narrative side vague enough where you can fiddle around and have any number of things occur in between Point A and Point B, in hopes of making sure there's some kind of freedom. It feels a bit janky to me at times, but at least this way one can surmise their own reasons for obtaining or doing what they wish.

>>63403370

Not actually what I'm protesting. If the setup of it was 'only the 15 rewards you pick existed to begin with', that'd be fine. If you were literally dealing with jumpchan, who has given you a CP budget with which to seed the path in front of you with rewards that you have to secure for yourself anyways, that'd be fine.

The issue is that trying to write a scenario where everything you get is a result of your in-jump actions AND adding in hard limits that overcome even out-of-jump shit is inherently incoherent.

HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA.

I suppose settings (such as Mass Effect) where you have undeniable prove of aliens and humans working together and both being better off would shake their beliefs a bit, and forcing them to interact with normal people without using bolters would deifntly help ground them with human interaction. This approach would work a lot better if the chapter was a split off from the Salamanders or from the same vein as the Lamenaters. Compassion for the common man is always a good start.

One of the problems is that they were literally indoctrinated/Mind raped to be hateful and antagonistic so if you removed the whole hypnotherapy from the recruits it would be a lot more successful.

Red, that anon was talking about Babylon there. They were listing the LoT flaws they don't think this'll have.

Honestly, though, I don't think there's a way to do justice to traveling and exploration in a fixed set of canned encounters in the jumpdoc, especially when the writing of the jump itself gives the broad-strokes of what needs to be done to solve all the problems. The lazy route of making the jumper write their own story from scratch, like is done with standard jumps, works better for that, despite highlighting everything dumb about this hobby in and of itself.

>>63403575
I have plenty of choices to get everything I actually want and then also six random pieces of trash, as is. I'm protesting the decision to crib structural philosophy from one of the worst jumps of the early years, which already proved it to be a nonsensical, dead-end structure in context of the wider field of jumpchain.

Which kinda just highlights how we all need to get better hobbies, but whatever.

Thong is used to refer to a type of underwear now, but its older meaning is basically 'a strip of fabric between something' and thus it once had a much wider usage. This is probably why, in your backwards country, they refer to those shoes as thongs, because they are kept in place by a piece of fabric between the toes. In the US, they are of course sometimes called flip flops as you know, which is often reserved for the cheap, poorly secured, plastic or rubber based variety used disposably around water or in the summer. They are also, especially if they are more expensive/made of better materials, referred to simply as sandals.

I had a thought for potentially justifying the limit besides the implied time issue. It could be a limit on how much you can take without risking annoying your employer(s) over how your wasting capabilities that 'should' (from their pov) be used serving their interests on collecting 'unneeded' trivial trinkets.

After all you are technically on the job, and unfortunately not a free agent.

>>

>>63403579
Since you're talking about the scenario based structure of the jump, what kind of power-level were you thinking/intending a jumper to be at when they took these scenarios? I know you've written everything vaguely enough that you could theoretically go through these scenarios whether Black Crusade was your first or last jump, but I'm curious to know what you think would be a good time in your chain to do the scenarios and how powerful a jumper should be in order to be able to beat the scenarios and also still find them challenging.

>>63403915
I'm not going to dictate that, because I want it to be open ended enough that you could be at any point in your chain. Going "Well you should be X powerful to do this" just stifles creative thinking and reduces it all to the Scion discussions. If you have a smart way to do something, I don't want to stifle that.

>>63403967
>This wouldn't allow me to make actual Men of Iron, right?
No, it'd allow your troops to get wicked-ass cybernetics that were intended to give the strengths of Men of Iron though, so close enough. You could always grab the 500 MoI and try to get their designs too.

>I'm wondering why taking him requires you to destroy Kyrios?
Because convincing Kyrios means UM-307 doesn't have to do jack shit anymore. It can go off and do its own thing or find oil margaritas or whatever. Actively destroying Kyrios means it knows there's no going back and throws its lot in with you.

Made sure Nomi Sunrider didn't end up as a single parent. Don't know much else about this place so I took that drawback to fighter every Sith and had a nice war. I also may or may not have hopped into my meditation chamber to demoralize them several times by cursing them and insulting their intelligence. Blowing up Sith on a Basilisk War Droid was also quite addicting.

Started at the beginning of the prequels and raised Anakin as if he were my son. Used my abilities as a Force Conduit to start Shmi at a similar level of power as him so they could both learn together and have some family time. Taught them both sides of The Force and how to use them without falling into their usual trappings. Had Palpy die in an 'accident' while this was occurring. By accident I mean blown up by my Basilisk. Eventually got to form my own group of Force users. They even use Sith Lightning as a non-lethal method to stop others.

In KotOR I ran to Alek and Revan during the Mandalorian wars and was able to befriend them. Stopped them from being turned to the dark side by The Emperor. Decided we should go kick his arse together. Still have no idea how Revan ended up with a harem.

>>
>>63404621
>Hrm. Well, let me go look over the rewards for route 4 and add ways for those numbers to increase if you took vessels as rewards. Help staff the ships you found.
What about giving us a proper expedition for this project instead of just a single ship? No grand battle fleet but some proper logistics to actually get this stuff done; extracting the resource rewards, restoring/installing ship parts, and crewing the ships we retrieve.

All stuff that someone blatantly favored by the Dark Gods or Emperor could get just by demanding it from the relevant parties, but have said things supported by the Jump so we don't lose them post jump and leaving us with useless space ornaments.

>When I was her age I was barely catching Pokemon in a game.
To be fair, there weren’t many Pokemon near where you lived when you were her age.

>Zoroark jumps a bit at their sudden appearance, but just a bit. I've already pulled this trick one too many times.
Zoroark: Forget who’s that Pokemon, who’s that trainer?

Why is it that the company of space marines start in an escort instead of the ship specifically designed to carry and support a company of space marines?

At first I thought it was due to not wanting the starter ship to overshadow the stuff in the scenarios but the scenarios offers things like a light Cruiser that can fight battleships, an Inquisitorial Black Ship, and an archeotech psi-cruiser. A strike cruiser would look paltry compared to that.

Why? Why did they feel the need to do this? Does someone there hate Revan as much as others seem to hate Jar-Jar? This makes me sad, Revan is my favorite Star Wars character and knowing this happened to him feels terrible.

As an Inquisitorial Black Ship, it’s jet black in color and travels with no running lights in order to hide itself among the darkness of the Void, all while equipped with the armaments of a Strike Cruiser. It also carries specialized cells to contain Psykers, so that you may transport or use them for whatever nefarious purpose you desire for them. Deliver the fear of the dark to them.
Inquisitorial Black Ships are completely different from the League of Black Ships, they aren't used to gather up psykers but are instead bigger strike cruisers (full cruiser size instead of being smaller than a light cruiser) with better tech and no lights.

They might be referring to how Nero is committed to Hakuno even in GO (but might also be trying to expand her harem?), while Tamamo knows someone like that exists but not their actual identity. Summer Tamamo is actual Tamamo just with a class modification but is still gunning for your dick though, yes. So the complaint is that someone at Type Moon made her NTRbait in both directions? They pretty much have, it's someone doing it as a joke probably, since of the other kitsune girls in Type Moon, one of them is also NTR bait so bad that she has, like, zero fans. >The Chaos Folk don't always have the big toys and the Astartes sometimes have to make do with what's available.

Chaos has way more shit than you might think, a lot of the really cool stuff has been lost to them due to tech loss but ships aren't really one of those fields and they can produce truly heretical amounts of what they do have the know how to build.

As for the loyalists. . .

Loyalist chapters generally have more ships than they can fill with marines. The lower end of average for an Astartes chapter has 2 Battle Barges, a good half dozen Strike cruisers, and lots of escorts to protect the more important ships.

A single strike cruiser with no escorts would be a fairly conservative showing from them, for the Red Hunters who have the Inquisiton backing one strike cruiser would be what they give you only because there isn't a practical reason to take a small fleet.

It would be a bit unlikely and some bad luck that our new group was in such a situation when we got them but that is a thing that could happen.

The Red Hunters however would have ships, there is no way in hell that they'd be in such poor shape unless the entire chapter was collapsing and had lost the support of the Inquisition. The situation where they'd send a full company of marines in just an escort ship would require fiat and bullshit. It just wouldn't happen.

>>63406360
Okay, but waifu-Atilla did that in sequential order, right? The issue isn't respect for history, it's the time travel that would be required for Tamamo-no-Mae to be both a recently-created avatar of Amaterasu (or so I've gathered from discussion about her here) and Empress Daji. Daji was the wife of Emperor Zhou of Shang, in 1047 BC, while Tamamo-no-Mae was a courtesan of Emperor Konoe of Japan, in 1142 AD. In the real myth, they can be the same fox, Daji just having escaped and done mischief across history. But if Tamamo is supposed to be young at the time of her legend, that means she would have to be a time traveler.

>>

She has sisters that are all variations of her split off from the same source. Could be that Daji was just a different sister, though I don't know enough about what's being referenced here to know if this is supposed to be normal Tamamo or not.
>>
>>63406452
The problem is that the Zone Fighter TV show is dubiously canon to the movie series. As in, not really at all.
>>
>>63406455
Tamamo is the bunrei of Amaterasu, who herself is the sadistic aspect of a world destroying evil of humanity that can reach beyond time and space from her own mausoleum.

I repeat: Fate is fucking bullshit. Tiamat for example lives in the sea of imaginary numbers, which I imagine makes doing advanced math hard in the Nasuverse.
>>
>>63406477
Okay, but can Tamamo? Otherwise it's not Tamamo and Daji being the same person, it's Tamamo and Daji both being separate avatars of Amaterasu (though I suppose that actually wouldn't require time travel). Fate treats the avatars as separate people, yes? Like, there's supposed to be nine different Tamamos or something?

>>63406195
It sounds to me like you're aiming pretty high there. It's hard to plot out a narrative that accurately follows someone's evolution over a hundred years/ten jumps, let alone trying to plot out a thousand years or a hundred jumps. I appreciate when Heavens, Wanderer, or Yoro write something like that, but it honestly seems pretty hard for just trying to have some in the moment fun.

If you really just want to write something, I'd honestly suggest trying to make a genuine SI chain. Where the "you" ten jumps later really is just "you, but with superpowers/tech/skills/whatever". Part of the inherent appeal of the concept after all, is seeing what you would do in X setting with Y powers, after all, so just put a few hundred words down for every build, and then move on to the next one. Have a few themes but don't stress the details, except when you want to.
>>
>>63406508
Yea but the Tamamos are all the original Tamamo's tails. Except when they're not. And they might all actually be Amaterasu's avatars. Who can ignore linear time when it's convenient.

>>
>>63406538
Sounds like it would be more convenient to acknowledge linear time here, though. Eh, doesn't really matter all that much. I think we've established a plausible connection between Tamamo and Daji that doesn't require too much twisting of the timeline, just individual entities within it. I'm satisfied with this explanation. Thank you for taking the time to clear these things up for me, anons, I appreciate your patience.
>>
>>63406035

>I find it more worrying that according to the datamines, Alter Ego Kiara will eventually become aware of the Tamamo 9 and think about trying to copy the idea

If you think that's scary there is something that might make it even scarier. Remember how in Extra CCC Kiara had that cult?

The entity worshiped by that cult is the same existence of Amaterasu and Viarocana Buddha, and thus Tamamo is technically an aspect of it. Meaning in theory Kiara could decide to attempt to recruit them to help with her plan to 'save' everyone.

>>63406193
>>63406322

There is a potential solution for if that Tamamo is Daji idea ends up being true. Amaterasu can mess with time. So while the Daji stuff occurred earlier in lhe timeline it could have been later in Tamamo's personal timeline, or the personal timeline of a tail.

Alternatively Amaterasu could have tried the whole incarnating thing multiple times with Daji as an earlier attempt. Which would technically make Tamamo and Daji the same by proxy.

You should make sure the plasma weapons don't overheat.
Also, the proper term for the shield in a rosarius or iron halo is a conversion field.
Small melta bombs aren't a great thrown weapon, because meltabombs are shaped charges that only explode in one direction.

Make it so their terminator armor is all tartaros pattern, the pattern no less agile than standard power armor.

Swap out the frag grenades for plasma grenades. Or, if you want to go fucking dumbass route by opening up a bunch of warp rifts, vortex grenades.

Attach underbarrel meltaguns to the plasmaweapons or somesuch, for the really heavy armor.

Aldia was way too pissed off at Gwyn to be lying, but he very well could be crazy or just not clear on the situation. Given everything we know about Gwyn, Aldia most likely has it spot on.

Not really. The only people we know who are explicitly threatened by the fire going out are the gods, who even at the point in the first game are mostly dead anyway. So there might be some struggles with Miracles after it goes out but beyond that everyone should be pretty alright so long as they don't go super hard on getting that Dark Party started and accidentally Abyss everything.

No, life can exist within the Dark. Humans actually thrive in the Dark, it was their original state of nature before the gods took them as servants. Everyone will be fine, we'll hang out in the Abyss with all the weird monsters and have a grand old time. Sure, there will be a period of adjustment that is bound to have its problems, but nothing that can't be survived. We may get uglier, though. I can't remember if the human appearance being the result of Gwyn wanting his servants to look more appealing is fanon or not.

>There's a lot of things that could have happened, and strange things have occurred.
All of them absurdly unlikely, what is the problem with starting with an appropriate ship?
>>
>>63406766
It's hinted at being some seasonal thing. The zombie bullshit is because of a curse from the lord of the gods. We've never been able to see a full cycle since The lord of gods pulling a fast one on the world to keep the flame reignited whenever it would go out means the world is just slowly burning to ash.

The best analogy I have for how it seems like the world works is like a forest fire burning overgrowth. It's not really bad since it clears away the old growth for the new growth and provides nutrients for the soil and stuff, and then the new growth goes, and it eventually all gets set on fire again and so on and so forth. Dark Souls 1-3 is kinda like someone was scared about the forest fire going out and just rigged it so it would keep burning until even the dirt has been pulverized by heat.
>>
>>63406507

>I repeat: Fate is fucking bullshit. Tiamat for example lives in the sea of imaginary numbers, which I imagine makes doing advanced math hard in the Nasuverse.

This reminded me of something. If I understood things correctly the imaginary numbers element term while silly might not be as dumb as it seems at first. From what I can tell imaginary numbers are mostly abstract. Meanwhile complete material 3 defines the imaginary numbers element as 'that which exists but not on the physical plane'.
>>
>>63406766
More the former, though it'd be quite a bit longer than a year or two.

Just punch anyone trying to link the flame /again/ in the schnozz, and you'd do the whole world a favor.
>>
>>63406837
He pretty much explicitly says that everything is Gwyn's fault. The Fire was meant to go out for good and humanity would have become the dominant power. Gwyn didn't like this so at some point, probably when he linked the flame, he tied the Fire to the souls of humanity. This started the endless cycle of shit.

>>
>>63406871

Not if you're using polar coordinates. Then imaginary numbers become something very real. Given that polar coordinates are common in electrical engineering, it makes me wonder if that's the secret to magitech in Fate.

Tamamo is just the name for an incarnation of Amaterasu, same with Daji. As Tamamo is Amaterasu so is Daji Amaterasu. We just use the more familiar name of Tamamo because that is how she characterizes herself, not liking to remember her power as a goddess, but she is still Amaterasu.
>>
>>63406817
Gwyn was truly an asshole of mythological origins. He banished his one son because maybe keeping one dragon alive was just too much, treated his other son like a girl and gave him huge daddy issues, and more or less enslaved humanity despite the fact that humanity had helped out just as much in the war against the dragons as anyone.

Him going hollow was a goddamn mercy compared to what my jumper would do to him.
>>
>>63406895
Everything I've heard here suggests that she's at least partially separate. Like, well, an avatar. Krishna is Vishnu, but Krishna is also Krishna. He's not just the Lord Preserver painting himself blue.
>>
>>63406891
The best solution we've seen so far is usurping the Flame. Which may and or may not be the best solution near the beginning of it all. As for how to undo it? I dunno. Soul magic fuckery.
>>
>>63406733
So doing something with jumper fuckery to give the system a massive boost doesn't actually make anything better? It just makes it last longer?
>>
>>63406841
It is...probably fanon. Probably. I say this because we got a look at the Pygmy Lords in the Ringed City-primordial humans that fought at Gwyn's side before he made them anonymous-and their knights have the build of light soul Lords, while their actual rulers look Lord-y only withered and dry from sheer age. The only one that looks like a hollow is a mad king that is explicitly a corpse by human standards impaled on a spear for who knows how long, and the Londor hollows claiming to push the true face of humanity are a twisted death cult whose representative tasks you with killing other characters for no good reason (no I'm not talking about Anri and the sigils which was premediated, I'm talking about the assassin guy who wanted to become a mage).

No clue, if you have a way to break world spanning curses then that's probably the best start you can get since he fucked humanity as a race to get them to keep doing this shit. No it wasn't, I remember what argument was used for that and it was regarding the original ship being a dedicated scouting ship with only one gun and absolutely no chance in a fight.

The fact that space marines should and in all likelihood would have a more powerful ship was ignored.

>An appropriate ship was already put in.
A space marine escort is more appropriate than the old ship but that doesn't make it a good one. It's just that the old one was absolutely terrible.

Unless you mean the Star Galleon which is appropriate for the mission and situation but does nothing to make a full company of space marines in an escort any less ridiculous.

The thing about dark is that in the current setting, it's pretty bad but only because the human soul is too degraded to properly control it like other healthy Lords can theirs a la 40K psykers compared to Elda farseers. We've never really seen a "healthy" Dark user, I don't even think Manus' kids count when they're technically spawned from another Abyssal aberration.

It might be good, it's definitely a natural part of the world, but we've never seen it used for anything really good. Best I can think of is the arms and armor of the Ringed Knights, which are apparently alive.
>>
>>63407036
Probably not, though I don't really care too much if you have it work as such. It's kind of a subjective thing rather than something that can see linear growth.

Dark Souls 3 offered a tone of weird and interesting imagery. The Pus of Man enemies resemble dragons or serpents made of darkness. The Grue, a mutated form of humanity, have horns and fur reminiscent of the dragon that the Nameless King rides. At low and mid range it's crappier because Fate magic doesn't have per-day cast times, more spells with no material components and more rapid fire, higher power output. At epic levels, it doesn't have the arbitrary tier/planet level limiter shit Fate magic does so I'd say it's better, although proper AoG-tier Fate magic can emulate epic D&D feats on a smaller scale. Instead of straight up casting Miracle or becoming a god for example, a shitty caster backed by a crapton of mana from a degraded demon god was about to invert fantasy and reality destroying the Throne of Heroes. A Medea-level Fate mage can also create pocket dimensions, although those are subordinate to the preexisting physics of the Fate planet (which emanates it's own physics to be fair), and with the right ingredients an infinite pancake.

I already changed it, and you're saying that it's not good enough and that it needs to be better. The Destroyer works fine enough as is.

When she swears you into the covenant she calls Gwyn 'father' and she consistently refers to Gwyndolin as her brother, which is the basis of calling her Gwyn's. This isn't definite of course since she could just be copying the covenant oath and Gwyndolin could simply be a surrogate brother, but there's nothing disproving it.

Priscilla having a child would be really weird unless the Chosen Undead decided to go marry her post-game, which is what I would do so.

Yeah, because all we see in the game is Abyss. We never actually see untainted Dark, so there's all of jack shit to know about it except what can be inferred from Abyss.

Also, Abyss may have existed before the reign of the gods given the Ringed Knights' weapons were forged in one apparently before they cast the seal of fire. Nyer nyer.

Implications are that she turned into slug chick. I'd count the Ancient Dragon in DS1 as being a good guy too because everyone says turning into a dragon is a higher form of immortality than what modern pygmies struggle with

>The Destroyer works fine enough as is
The destroyer can't support or properly deploy a company of space marines. None the scenarios where they would be helpful aren't all that conducive to slowly moving troops in landers meant for hauling supplies in non combat situations. You can't fire boarding torpedoes at a planet.

>The majority of people at the time accepted a Hunter-class destroyer was good, and if my memory is faulty on that then please show me that thread.
Well it's technically correct on that front, one person (the same person who suggested it I believe) was the only one to respond and they did respond favorably to the change.
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/62995863/#63000260
Though favorably in this context just means that the ship can in theory be used to capture a viable ship with enough luck and boarding torpedoes. The destroyer still isn't one.

The suggestion for a strike cruiser and the fact that one would be the appropriate ship for such a group of Astartes was completely dismissed, along with any other complaint/suggestion/request regarding the starting ship until you decided to offer a more combat capable escort.

That doesn't make the escort good, it just makes it better than a raider that's worse in a fight than random pirate number four.

Once again I'd like to ask, what's the problem with the Strike Cruiser? I'd really like to know the answer to this. It's not all that powerful, requires a scenario to get, is worse than any of the ships obtained throughout the rest of the scenario, and would actually make sense.

I responded to your post, and from the way it looks there was nothing else brought up on it again, just that other anon who I talked to and brought up the points to convince me to upgrade the starting vessel into a destroyer.

It's an adequate starting ship, it can ferry people around, and it has the firepower to fend off other ships enough to board or get out of there. Each time you keep saying "No it's not enough" and at this point it feels like we're just at an impasse here.

>The suggestion for a strike cruiser and the fact that one would be the appropriate ship for such a group of Astartes was completely dismissed, along with any other complaint/suggestion/request regarding the starting ship until you decided to offer a more combat capable escort.

You might want to have something that can fill the role of a squad support weapon like the heavy bolter. You could probably tune plasma cannons to have a less powerful secondary rapid fire mode. Boarding/Storm Shields for another layer of frontal defense might not be a bad idea to have in reserve for the heaviest of fighting either. Keep some Mastercrafted Bolters and speciality shells around incase you ever need to go flashy/silent or the enemy has a way of negating all your plasma. Like the other anon said plasma grenades instead of melta bombs for general use. The Deathwatch has cool shit try and get some of it, highlights include Fragcannons and the Corvus Blackstar.

>>63407877
The idea of sane, civilized humans summoning an abyss in their weapons using their inborn powers is vastly different than how the Abyss is treated elsewhere, or by people using it as an argument against the Dark. "Hey, Konata, what did you do in Psychonauts?"
"Everything I could to get out of teaching."

Like, holy fuck, I have no idea how I got this job. Given my perk choices, I think it's fair to say I just fucking lied my way into a job, and possibly impressed some people with my technical knowledge and showmanship, even though I actually have jack shit for experience.

Anyway, I mostly watched TV.
That's not some commentary on getting my brain sucked out or anything, no, I actually avoided that by virtue of being able to sense when someone was trying to sneak up on me and then just not being there.

... not that it stopped those two kids from tailing me everywhere I went! But it wasn't so bad! Because it meant I always had someone around to tell my stories to...
Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we... oh yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...

probably around 900.M41 (Give or take a few decades). However, the Space Marines have
been defenders of the Imperium for over ten thousand years at this point, Jumper, not just the
41st Millennium. In what era are you going to make your mark on history? You may either
choose a time to start freely (Doesn’t need to be on the list below), stick with the general
‘Closing of the 41st Millennium’ time period, or you can allow the Emperor’s hand to
guide you to a time by rolling 1d10."

You can start in the Great Crusade in Astartes.

>I really have to question then why you didn't bring it up further

We don't actually know that, or even that the Hunter can fit a Company.
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/62995863/#q62998890
To continue on from there but referring more specifically to the Hunter it wouldn't really have enough space. Sure the marines could probably fit somewhere, it would take a bit of creativity since space marine ships normally carry tiny (relatively speaking) crews of mostly chapter serfs whose beds the marines won't fit into. Even the larger escorts normally only get a single squad on board if any actual Astartes are there.

Then there is the fact that a battle company carries with it a mess of shit; APCs, tanks, speeders, bikes, and a pair of dreadnoughts. There won't be any cargo space for all that stuff on the Hunter, what little (relatively speaking) cargo space on an escort is filled to the brim with ammo and other supplies the ship needs.

>No it's not enough
That's not the point of what I'm saying, the problem I have with it isn't that "it's not enough". It's that it doesn't make sense.

A strike cruiser or an escort doesn't actually matter in terms of practicality, put the marines where they'll fit and either make their gear fit somewhere somehow or leave it safe and sound on an imperial world till we get back. We don't really NEED the Astartes in top fighting form for most of the scenarios and by the time we need them at all we'll have the Star Galleon and all the cargo space we could ever dream of.

With the Viper there were some practical problems but the Hunter can put up at least a decent fight against anything that could catch up to it.

From a practical/power gaming point of view it doesn't matter, it just creates a large unnecessary mess to put them in a ship too small for them.

Back to the question, what's wrong with a strike cruiser?

>>
>>63408416
Since the marines done have tanks, dreadnaughts, speeders, and what not to worry about, there would be no issue with them being aboard a smaller ship. Once you cut out all that extra baggage, the men and their guns could fit quite easily.

You responded to another anon there. You can't expect me to follow every single post of every single thread, man. On top of that, the person you replied to also brought up the point that being efficient with your space drastically reduces the amount of space you really need.

On top of that, the jump already points out that yes, you do need a bigger vessel for what you plan to do. It also makes clear that you could have grabbed another vessel in the time between Part 1 and Part 2. You could just as easily say "I grab a Strike Cruiser from someone" and call it a day, but the Hunter works because it's quick and it's a good starter vessel with decent firepower that would allow you to aggressively liberate a vessel. You even admit as much here.

By this point, it's pretty clear that the Hunter does the job all well. A Strike Cruiser isn't really needed. Otherwise I might as well delete the entire bit about the Star Galleon and rewrite the beginning to just have you raid a star chart somewhere.

I agree. I'm not accusing you of anything, just referring to the post.
>On top of that, the person you replied to also brought up the point that being efficient with your space drastically reduces the amount of space you really need.
True but escorts are already very efficient and economical with their space. That's one of the reasons why there's so little cargo room.

>On top of that, the jump already points out that yes, you do need a bigger vessel for what you plan to do.
We're fighting with or against a Black Crusade. We need a full on battle fleet, lots of space marines, and a few dozen regiments worth of normal military.

>You could just as easily say "I grab a Strike Cruiser from someone"
Sure, but we won't be able to keep it and there's no real reason not to start with that ship.

That's really unclear. Rovagug (Who's essentially just a sperging qlippoth of LIFE GET OUT REEEEEE) is imprisoned by a number of good gods working with the literal devil. Speaking of, Asmodeus supposedly killed his CG brother due to opposing methods for governing the multiverse, but how isn't stated, or even if his brother existed. Aroden is dead but nobody's really sure why. I think Lissala's still around despite the fact that very few people worship her, and I don't recall whether she's less powerful because of it.

I'd say fanwank it. Paizo's lore isn't really fleshed out in a lot of places, probably so you're able to fanwank in the canon setting.

>We're fighting with or against a Black Crusade. We need a full on battle fleet, lots of space marines, and a few dozen regiments worth of normal military.
Depends on what kind of Crusade you're running. Not everyone has to run with Abaddon's kind, and there have been multiple Black Crusades that have been done with less and succeeded admirably. No one said you couldn't recruit other people outside of what you find in the Chasm either.

Why there would be a problem with a strike cruiser hasn't been answered, at all.

>A Hunter fulfills the requirements nicely.
That's not the question, I disagree completely, but that's not the question.

The question is what about a strike cruiser makes it a unsuited for the starting ship. Not why this other thing is a workable one, why isn't a strike cruiser?

Is it too powerful for a starting ship? Too big? Is there some way it doesn't fit the scenarios?

I've given multiple reasons why the Hunter works fine. Reasons you pointed out in >>63408355 were valid. There's no need to throw in a bigger ship when, as stated repeatedly, the Hunter is a fine ship for its intended purpose.

>That's not the question, I disagree completely, but that's not the question.
Again, see >>63408355.

>The question is what about a strike cruiser makes it a unsuited for the starting ship. Not why this other thing is a workable one, why isn't a strike cruiser?
The question has been answered repeatedly. There is no need for a Strike Cruiser when a Hunter works out fine. If you want bigger ships, you have the opportunity to get bigger ships. Multiple opportunities, in fact. I even made it clear you could have acquired something in the fluff:

>All that’s missing is for you to obtain a bigger ship than the relatively small Hunter-class Destroyer your allies picked you up in, if you haven’t already acquired a larger vessel already through bartering or bloodshed when you arrived in this galaxy

If you don't want to take those answers as answers, then I'm not sure what to say.

It's not even about the power, Black Crusade isn't the place for that. There might be an argument on rarity I could have used, I wasn't thinking on that. The Hunter is not good, it's a bare minimum when it makes no sense for the bare minimum to be used. There is no great shortage of the ships that are specifically designed for the role of carrying the exact number of marines we get.

The Hunter doesn't make sense as the ship a company or company sized warband would use or have. It barely fits the marines, it doesn't fit their equipment, and it can't support their operations.

You keep saying the Hunter is fine but by what metric? That it can in theory with many caveats satisfy the bare minimum requirements of the very specific situation if no other factors are introduced and you completely ignore better and more realistic options?

The Hunter goes after a strike cruiser, jumper and a fair few space marines get into boarding torpedoes. Two volleys are fired before the Hunter gets destroyed and all the remaining personnel are killed. A few torpedoes are blown up and a few miss, those marines are lost but a few marines and jumper manage to get onto the enemy ship. After a long and bloody battle that takes several years Jumper's group emerges victorious.

Jumper and what few marines survive now need to pacify the crew and take control of the new ship with less than a dozen fighters who have no idea how to run a ship, except perhaps jumper.

This isn't an exaggeration or worst case scenario, this is an extreme success that would require some serious luck and power to pull off and relies entirely on Jumper being in one of the successful torpedoes and carrying the fight.

A strike cruiser isn't the biggest thing, it's one step up from an escort and designed for ground assault support rather than void combat.

Strike cruisers aren't real cruisers, they're smaller than even dauntless class light cruisers which are unusually small and quick even for light cruisers.

This is an optimal target and outcome.

> Me: "Oh! You see the hand, too?"
> Raz: "Yes! Oh my god, no one ever believes me! Do you know anything about it? How to stop it?"
> Me: "Oh, it's most likely a manifest form of hydrophobia brought on by deep childhood memories and internalized trauma, further augmented by your budding psychokinetic wavelength, creating an unconscious realization of your own belief that water will hurt you."
> Raz: "Uhuh. And how do I stop it."
> Me: "Well, first you'll have to determine exactly where the original trauma occured. Then locate it within your mind and begin handling it in a controlled manner, smoothing out the waves as it t'were. Hah! Waves, I made a joke. Because of water, see? Anyway, the process is complicated, since it's an aspect of your own will combating itself, told through the lens of your own emotions, which are a heavy influencer of psychic ability! You know, it's part of why Agent Sasha locks his off so completely, whereas Milla is so in tune with hers. To become a mastermind, you must first master your mind, see? Anyway, the process could take years, and... and... Raz? Where'd he go?"

That's part of what makes a strike cruiser an optimal target, they have all the ammo our boarding party needs on their ship. The initial main goal for the boarding to be meet the imperial minimum level of "success" is to capture a supply of ammo and Astartes grade high calorie food to get ready for the long "siege".

Terrible situation but technically viable if we're willing to sacrifice our ship, crew, most of our marines, . .

Yeah this is less than good.

I believe it starts a few hours before Seras gets ganked and converted into a vampire. If a jumper is quick they could save her, and the rest of her police buddies as well. Anon you have to do BC1 before you can do BC2. If you don't already have a fucking big ass ship at your disposal you very clearly are doing something wrong. Getting butthurt over the size of the free ship in BC2 is stupid because unless you're an idiot you're going to have that /in addition/ to whatever ship(s) you had from BC1 to support it.

We can't get into a maneuver war, our only viable weapon is the torpedoes. Even if we avoid nearly all their shots they'll hit us with something and the shields of an escort won't last long. We need to land boarders, which means firing torpedoes, which can only be fired from the front, from close enough range they can't avoid them.

If your plan is literally just going in a head-on battle and not taking advantage of your ship's maneuverability or speed, or not picking an appropriate time to ambush or disable a target? Then I'm not entirely sure what to tell you. The Hunter is fine, you can take full advantage of the vessel's strengths to engage in a strategy or work your way up from other ships.

If you can't just literally get a fucking ship during your time in BC1 then you are a moron of such an astounding caliber that words cannot properly describe it. You can't even use the argument of it being different jumps and your ships from BC1 not showing up in BC2 because it's literally a continuation of the same setting.

So, to reply to you in kind, stop being a retard.

>If your plan is literally just going in a head-on battle and not taking advantage of your ship's maneuverability or speed, or not picking an appropriate time to ambush or disable a target?
The Hunter has two weapons, a weak macro canon turret only meant for defense against other small ships and torpedo tubes at the front which need to be fired from close range. Any ship it can take on is similarly small and fast.

Cannot waste marines on failed torpedo launches, need to go straight for a real ship that can upgrade our forces significantly.

Best target is a strike cruiser, go after lone vanguard cruiser as it has even less combat ability than a normal strike cruiser and will be alone.

Cannot waste marines on sub optimal torpedo launches, must fire from close range to get the most out of them. Enemy ship will crush us at close range.

>The Hunter is fine, you can take full advantage of the vessel's strengths to engage in a strategy or work your way up from other ships.

There is no strategy, there is only one option and costs us most of our marines on the best day.

What authority do you think we have? In chaos we're an unknown with great favor from the gods, standard procedure is to keep throwing shit at the new guy until he dies (freeing up his loot) or he beats them into submission.

In Loyalist that Emperor's favor thing will go a long way with the Custodes and the peasantry but most people of importance will be rather skeptical. Especially the Inquisition.

I exploited my terrible storytelling to motivate my students. The kids would be like, "Hey Mr. Aaron there's a giant catfish so we can't go on our field trip" and I'd tell them "What a story, Raz. Did I ever tell you the time I audited a lungfish harm in Tan-Zah-Nia..." and they'd regret everything. Then I'd find out there actually WAS a lungfish, and tell it an incredibly bad story. A mind numblingly bad story so bad the air cringed, the water bubbled and the mind control on the lungfish broke.

I also spared some time to go track down the gypsy that put a curse on my family, see if there was a counter curse. When it turns out there wasn't, I just blessed water near me to turn into wine instead. This led to hobos drinking out of the public toilets.

When I wasn't teaching, I was doing pushing the boundaries of psychonautics by trying to use them on alien minds. I spent a lot of time pushing around comatose True Ancestors and cabbits and some of my companions on gurneys around the campus just to portal in and out of their mindscapes.

The one thing all of them agreed was that my stories were terrible.
