So we all love memeing to various degrees about Stormcast, but which Stormhost do you actually like?

I'm a fan of Hallowed Knights. It's such a simple step to make them silver instead of gold but it just makes the design look that much better.

Astral Templars are neat too, though I'm less a fan of the colour scheme, but I always like monster hunting specialists.
>>
Didn't see a new topic, I ask again:
If I use GA Chaos what units are battleline?
Chaos warriors and...?
>>
>>63400345
Celestial Warbringers were cooler before the retcon. I liked the idea of a glorious boisterous crusade marching in the name of their golden god.

I hated the Celestial Vindicators at first because they seem like an edgelord faction but I like the way the new battletome fleshed them out.
>>
>>63400345
Anvils of Heldenhammer win for me. Simple scheme, stormhost made of actual undead, good rules.

Hallowed Knights I like but recently listened to realmgate audiobook in with their relictor chases Manlet. Guy was kinda holier than thou asshole.
>>
>>63400345

Hallowed, Astrals and tempest lords in that order.
>>
>>63400276
>>63400309
Ah just found it, not even a proper mention of Chaos Dwarves, just Dwarves experimenting with death magic, so at best an implication of them.
>>
>>63400358
Gors, Ungors, Blood Warriors, Bloodletters, Bloodreavers, Chaos Marauders, Chaos warriors and like 15 more units at least.
>>
>>63400358
I think some of the beastmen, skaven and chaos marauders are indeed generic battleline.
>>
>>63400345

Mine are painted as Hallowed Knights, but Celestial Vindicators are a close second
>>
>>63400345
I like the characters lore from hammers of sigmar, but celestial vindicators scheme is my favorite
>>
>>63400406
>stormhost made of actual undead
Wrong. They are Stormcast made from human souls that were in Shyish rather than any other realm.
When humans die their souls go to Shyish and slowly "dissolve" over centuries. Sigmar plucked the souls that were "dissolving" before Nagash could eat them, and turned them into the Anvils stormhost.
>>
>>63400510
I worded it wrong. Still they are forged from people who were dead for long long time(unlike moste stormcast that are fresh)
>>
>>63399795
not sure about the gunhaulers but they get pushed as extra in the sets. i guess they're suppose to be like land speeders, but they're not cheap enough to be cast away units. as for the ironclad, it's supportive and has the most guns. the ships feel like a trap since the infantry can outshoot them but the ships can be faster for capturing objectives.

>>63399980
in defense of dorfs the magmadroth looks great and i am starting KO. shame about the other dorfs but you can't save them all
>>
>>63400345
I'm a basic bitch so I like hammers of sigmar. It helps that I accidentally bought a bottle of Reikland Fleshshade Gloss instead of normal reikland fleshshade so now i can make my Hammer Bros. shiny. This is good, because I only pay attention to shiny things.
>>
>>63400613

anyone found any good alternatives to stormcast shoulder pads?

I cant find any good images of them building-in-progress without so its hard to make a judgement on whether they'd look good without any shoulder pads at all. regardless, the regular ones put me off buying stormcast because of how dumb they look.

>I cant find any good images of them building-in-progress without so its hard to make a judgement on whether they'd look good without any shoulder pads at all

>TQ
Because they took the beloved classic Dwarfs from WHFB and threw them into NPC status and tried to make a bigger better army using slayers but forgot to actually include the fluff that made slayers interesting. They did “Ok” with KO but preceded to nerf them into near uselessness.
>>
>>63400663
Too many to list
Which factions are you interested in?
What kind of playstyle do you want?
>>
>>63400593
>>63399795

All KO airships are extremely mediocre. They are absurdly pilowfisted, almost as fragile as the units they carry, and have to disembark before they move (IE-worthless). If they are killed in close combat, there is a very good chance the embarked unit is instantly killed and even without, they kill 1/6.
Awful, awful units.

Gunhaulers are the worst because they just accomplish nothing at all. Their sole purpose is to shoot people and they cannot even do that.
Ironclads are the least-bad because you can do gimmicks like Zilfin Deep Strike, but even then you can do much better for *420* points.
KO are far better used as a gunline, hiding behind allied or GA meatshields rather than zipping about in boats.
Optimal ratio is therefore 0:1

Continuing the rants, Skywardens are pretty much 100% obsolete because Endrinriggers deal more damage in every situation against every target. They also synergise much better with Khemists.
Skywardens either need to be made cheaper or better relative to Riggers, because they perform the same role except literally worse in all instances.
>>
>>63400415
And all those god related units are generic battleline? wtf
>>
>>63400745
They also forgot to give Fyreslayers over 1 design
>>
>>63400810
Come on Anon - you are better than this. Just check the warscroll builder by yourself and see which units are just "battleline"
>>
>>63400648
gloss or not, i consider the reikland shade step necessary since if you just raw gold and highlight it does indeed look very bland. With the gloss, it makes even the small shadows catch the light, so if you're looking for Gleaming Paragons Who Step Out Of Legend yeah go for the gloss.
Admittedly, I'm pretty much exclusively collecting Sacrosanct Chamber stuff so everyone has nice robes to paint dark blue to provide contrast. (and yeah I know I'll want a stardrake at some point, that can wait until I have an army that functions)
>>
>>63400745
>Because they took the beloved classic Dwarfs from WHFB and threw them into NPC status and tried to make a bigger better army using slayers but forgot to actually include the fluff that made slayers interesting.
Every fucking thread.
>>
>>63400827
I have no idea how you would differentiate Fyreslayer units during an endgame blob
>>
>>63400877
Hopefully the player would have the sense to paint them differently according to their role, maybe even a different tone of flesh just to tell them apart.

realistically it'll just be a tide of orange mohawks.
>>
>>63400793
I have no idea how he wants to play which is why I was hoping for a generalized list. I can try to find out from him
>>
>>63400956
He should pick 3-4 best looking factions and then check if any of them fits his desired playstyle.
>>
Two questions, what size base does a Chaos Sorcerer on Steed use and does using Mark of the All Favored give all of bonuses of Immortal Champion if I give it to a Daemon Prince
>>
>>63400808
Gunhaulers should have a 4+ save minimum and anything bigger should have a 3+

Also yes, boats(actually everything ko) need to be completely reworked so they aren't unusable trash
>>
>>63400877

easy. Add a small stripe of color to the base rim to designate units.

For example, one unit of 30 could have a few red stripes around their base, another could have blue, another green, etc.

Or you could paint mohawks as different colors
>>
>>63401074
Fatemaster gets a neat rule where in the combat phase it gets a 2+ to its save rolls unless the thing attacking it can fly. Frigate could keep its 4+ save if it got a similar rule imo.

freeguild general's trait indomitable give +1 to saves.

do saves granted by spells get buffed by this or do spells 6+ saves not count as saves?
>>
>>63400956
pick by aesthetics
>>
How to fix KO:

Arkanauts get a max unit size cost of 400
Gunhaulers battleline in KO army
Gunhauler -20pt
Thunderers -20pt
Frigate -20pt
Ironclad -60pt

They need new battalions and their heroes need new abilities that actually buff their units, but until they get new warscrolls this would be enough to make them good enough for tournament play
>>
>>63400191
At tournaments.
>>
>>63401170
save is only against weapon attacks

ignoring wounds on a roll of a 6+ is not a save
>>
>>63401291
Honestly I think the biggest issue with their boats is that they just don't ever DO anything, GW needs to stop pussyfooting around consistent damage And throw some armies a bone

Honestly I think if they changed the gunhaulers cannon to a 3+/2+/-2/3 flat it would see a lot more play, same with the ironclad if they buffed up it's ranged capabilities
>>
>>63401313
yeah just curious. thanks for the answer.

guess it would be too nuts if that was the case.

do those 6+ (not)saves stack too? like the one from the high aelf elemental shield as well as the one from the luminark of hysh?
>>
>>63401373
they all "stack" in the sense that you can use them all

if you have 3 abilities that ignore wounds on a 6+ you can roll for all 3 of them
>>
>>63401362
It wouldnt be a problem if their heroes actually buffed their units. If the admiral gave nearby units +1 hit it would be a great faction.
The only hero worth using is the Khemist because he actually buffs your dudes.
>>
>>63401291

Arkanauts trading 1 Pistol shot for 1 Cutter attack redefines their role a little.
Thunderers weapons; Mortar gets a range increase, all bumped to 2/5 allowance.
Skywardens get cheaper and/or a charge buff/retreat and charge.
Personally prefer Endrinriggers getting nerfed melee in exchange for better repairs and the ability to overclock Skyvessels somehow.

All Skyvessels get boosted firepower; more shots, more accurate and long/short profiles.
Khemist being rejigged into 'Unit rerolls 1s to Wound' or something would be easier to work with.
Admiral going to A3 on the Hammer.
General book-keeping like making the Transport rules common, or putting the Navigator buff on his own Warscroll.

Trouble with price cuts is that the Skyvessels are still very expensive £-wise. Ideally you don't want them to drop below 120/200/280pts respectively, so just make them worthwhile at those values.
>>
>>63401646
i would prefer new warscrolls too
maybe when they get a faction update in 3 years
>>
>>63401686
They gave Thunderers a new warscroll. Nerfing the shit out of them.
>>
>>63401761
yeah theyre shit now, but they did that so the warscroll matched the contents of the box

arkanauts have the same problem with their special weapons, but thunderers were a really egregious case

>>
>>63402336
Chorfs are in a weird spot, narratively (like a lot in AoS). Azgorh was definitely the old fortress, and the legion of Azgorh itself was a penal legion not really representative of the wider chorf military. It's too bad the hongoblins never got updated, too. Forgeworld did do a pretty good job with the keyword update. Zharr Gorroth (chorfs) and Ba'Hal (bull centaurs) sound like actual things, as opposed to Ogors, Aelves, Orruks, and Shaerks.

Hilariously, yes.

Not terribly since the only actual spell buff worth using in sacrosanct is Empower and you can try to cast that multiple times if you somehow fuck it up. It makes relying on Arcanum/invocator buffs tricky though, but you can always just not run the Hallowed Knights battalion if you're running heavy spell buff lists even if you're <Hallowed Knights>. You'll have an ass ton of unbind attempts anyway.

Birdmen but mostly the on disc variants, LoC is rock solid as well. Tzeentch tends to be a character heavy army with a lot of seemingly counter intuitive tricks. Dispossessed belongs in Hoard
>>
>>63402432
This.

I hate when people ask for every faction in AoS to all have access to the same types of units.

No, dispossessed don't need a quick unit or more flyers. No, Kharadron don't need tanks or better ground units. No, not every faction needs to be on a level playing field.

Homogenizing the factions is the quickest way to kill the game and for some reason people don't get that
>>
>>63404397
>a lot of seemingly counter intuitive tricks. Things like killing your own pink horrors with endless spells - then using a '1' fate dice to replenish the unit and summon a unit of blues at the same time.

AoS 2.0 core book does quite a bit to ground the setting. But yes, the "maps" or all infinitely expanding flatlands that are stable in the "middle," and begin to meme harder and harder for whatever realm of magic they represent. The realm of death is the opposite, with death memeing happening the hardest at its apex, which was the result of Nagash's dickery. The maps have tiny areas jutted out with random fortresses or lands, and the stable portions of each realm are explained to be about the square mileage of a super earth. So the setting's cosmology and grounding is there, but yes it is still all asspull choose your own adventures. Anything goes so long as it's prefaced with whereabouts in what realm, which is a vast, effectively infinite amount of space.
>>
>>63406732

All yeah, and there's an "allpoints" mashup zone that has a central nexus of portals to all realms in pretty close proximity. It is hotly contested. Its worth noting that the setting removes itself from WFB with a few epochs. At one point chaos was at its zenith and essentially reigned in all, or most realms, for example. There was a "Sigmar's 'Great Crusade'" era, and I think it then progresses into what we have now, which is a comfy standoff with all cosmological powers relatively equal in territory and influence as a setting for a battles game.

>In the chapel of the Order of the Ardent Star, Sir Aenea prays to the warrior goddess Myrmidia for guidance. And with an army of rampaging Khornate warriors outside, she has never needed her deity's guidance more. Her master is dead at the hands of the Chaos warleader, her comrades brought low by the seemingly unstoppable champion of the Blood God. With fewer than a hundred of their number left, the only hope for survival lies in a desperate sally forth from their fortress, seeking the indomitable redoubt of the distant Drakenount.

Myrmidia? Another of WHFB's things in AoS? This getting tiresome. What's the point of blowing up a world if plenty of its things get to exist in the new world? Next they are going bring back the fucking Tomb Kings.

In no way is applying PSA glue and then dumping the miniature in a bowl of Static Grass more troublesome that sculpting it, the problem might simply com when you base and the grass wasn't well glued. In that case, just repeat the same in the bald spots.
Pic related is the miniature after a layer of Rakarth Flesh (or Debed Stone).
The Washes will comb the fur in place.
>>
>>63411027
Just because there are people that worship Myrmidia, doesn't mean she survived. There could be any number of explanations why some humans found evidence of an ancient goddess and began worshiping her. AoS lore can be neat because it's self-referential to it's own reboot. The world that was didn't completely disappear, so from time to time there are things that will resurface.

Half the fun of the new Gotrek stuff is him reacting to AoS shit like a stereotypical /tg/ grognard.

They are a completely fine army. Midtier.

They are getting a lot of success because Slaanesh is a major army in terms of rules but have a player base as a minor one. People just never face them and are completely unprepared for the tools they have.

The only downside is that you need a KoS, and the model still need to be replace.

Daemonettes are one of the best infantry in the game, Hellstriders are a fantastic support. Everything else is average.

You can totally start collecting it, just don't expect to completely crush your enemies before the KoS.

Doesn't bother me, just adds to the new setting. I like that Order has more than one god.

Anyone know good places to get cheap minis in Australia? Best way I've found so far is ordering from UK or Poland via ebay
>>
GW have caved to SJW outrage and renamed a battle scenario to Ghast Harvest from Spook Harvest.

Why does GW give in to them? What benefit is there?

Stop caring for tournament results, basically all the army arevery playable and you will have good results with them

UK ebay has generally been the best for me as well.

Trying to build myself a rotbringers army but even from the UK it's like $150 for 3 boxes of blightkings and it goes up to 180 once you factor in GST (fuck this GST on overseas imports shit) and postage

What's a better starting hero for a blightking-heavy list? Lord of plagues or blights?

Why are people so mad about anything WFB here? The hatred of WFB some anons have here is bordering obsession.
>>
>>63412959
You can thank the grogs for that who made any discussion of AoS impossible outside of this general, and often inside it, too.
>>
>>63409522
There is still more happening model wise next year. Probably around April. GW staggers releases to do well each quarter. Slaanesh for AoS is probably next after the new goblins.
>>
>>63412985
Or maybe AoS players are just a little thin skinned and get defensive so quickly they are easily baited.
You see plenty of AoS guys shitting on WHFB too, which is funny since it's the foundation that AoS is built on.
>>
>>63412959
>Not liking fantasy characters and locations getting shoehorned into every AoS book is obsession
It would be fine if it was an occasional lore point or Easter egg, but ast this point it feels like they're trying to appeal to a nonexistent audience

>>63411027
>Next they're going to bring back the fucking Tomb Kings
Oh how I can wish

>Frenchmen are cunts.
>Occitanes are nice.

>>
>>63413006
This is nothing but a defensive reaction on their part, people get tired of being perpetually shit on with impunity and go on the offensive.
>>
>>63412757
Awesome, where does this say anything about spooks, shitposter-kun?
>>
>>63413006
>Fantasy is the foundation AoS was built on
Fantasy could have ever existed and AoS lore wouldn't have to change much if, at all, the only major change would be character origins and those could easily be moved to the age of myth
>>
How do you feel about the increase in the use of 'scenery units'; wyldwoods, gnarlmaws etc?
>>
>>63411465
Yeah I was checking the army and it does look decent. I was considering it since I have some stuff from the old days like said Keeper of Secrets (metal), metal Daemonettes (though I'd buy the plastic ones to play), the Masque and some plastic Seekers and a pack of plastic Daemonettes I was going to convert into WFB harpies for Dark Elves long ago.
I however need it to be viable for tournaments and I have no idea how well it works. It's not easy getting all of their rules since they are pretty scattered.

>>63412761
Tournaments is a major way people play where I live. They are very often bringing lots of people together. It's like that since WFB and back then the lists even for normal casual play were very nasty.
I recently checked out a tournament and same nasty lists appear. I've been also told not to pick anything outside of the meta as I'll get destroyed. That's exactly how I remember my WFB times.
Then again if I REALLY cared for the meta I wouldn't consider Slaanesh as he is not part of it. I just wanted to know if it's a viable army tournament wise.
>>
>>63413047
>Fantasy could have ever existed and AoS lore wouldn't have to change much if, at all,
That's a ridiculously naive statement.
The factions within the setting were clearly written around the available miniatures range existing in GW's catalog.

If Fantasy hadn't existed AoS wouldn't even be called Age of Sigmar.

I don’t really mind, it’s not like they are super expensive either l. Besides you only need 2-3 of them in a standard game anyway

I really want to believe that but somehow I can't shake off the feeling that those couple of new models in the new boxset is just bait and that no new Slaanesh releases will happen anytime soon.
From the rumored road map of releases it seems like they are focusing on 40k next year and releasing Slaanesh would mean that they'd have to release Malerion and/or Tyrion Aelves next as that's where Slaanesh would hit next. I doubt we are gonna have that many aelven releases next year.
>>
>>63413055
I'd feel a lot better about them if, like Endless Spells, using them would cost points. Because getting them from just the Allegiance Abilities essentially means you waste potential if you don't include them.
>>
>>63413094
Actually the classical menorah has 7 candles, so who's the retard?
>>
>>63413055
I feel bad about this one in particular because it's so ugly.
>>
>>63413114
I think the new elves come after Slaanesh breaks free as a response. Can’t trust the release leaks, most of them are guesses that are mostly wrong with one thing sort of correct. 40k will get Slaanesh first, but next year will see new models.
>>
>>63413114
We had two this year and it wasn't even the return of Slaanesh.

No that's just tourists, homeless and drunkards. It's almost like our city is the most visited place in the world. Oh wait, it is.
>>
>>63413497
Yes.
Then take that money and treat yourself to a nice lunch, a pint, or a box of minis. Even if you get pounded into the ground, you're still advertising, got in free, got a free T-shirt, and hopefully had a decent time.
>>
>>63413546

I'd say it's kinda like band t-shirts. If you go to a concert and wear a t-shirt of the band you're currently seeing, you look like a lickspittle.
>>
>>63413572
Not if you're getting paid to do it. It's sponsorship, just like wearing any clothing with a logo on it. Like the Dallas Cowboys and wear their T-shirt? Your sponsoring them (very loose interpretation of the definition, I'll give you that.) Wearing that AC/DC shirt? same thing. Don't worry about it, Anon. It's just a T-shirt.

Agreed. You're not a shill. You're wearing a T-shirt that just so happens to have another store's logo on it. So what? That store may see it and may put their T-shirt on you or another player and send them to that store for their tournament. Anything to give somebody an edge over competition.

I'm shocked that London is so high. I bet a half of the visitors are clueless amerimutts who think that it's all Big Bens and Westminster Abbeys, but end up facing eye-poppingly ugly 60's garbage and neglected mass-produced Victorian houses.
