Got a feeling this will be a pretty forgettable WC lads. Predictable results in the pool stages, very little media interest over here compared to 2015, SA/NZ final. I can see it happening.

I'm not paying too many attention for english team and the preparation tests for WC don't help because the teams are keeping strategies and preventing injuries. On players, who I'm realizing shall be pillars of team are basicly the same than in 2015 like Farell, B. Vunipola and Youngs, but there are some young hopes like Francis and Cokasinaga. Hansen may not be the ideal messenger, but this statement address a persistent problem.

Is there a realistic process of events for the Pacific nations to reliably field competitive teams? I imagine if they have a mature set of clubs, they'll be able to sustainably nurture and hold on to home grown talents. That said I don't know how they'll assemble the building blocks to support it

>All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has laid blame for the plight of Pacific Island rugby on the unwillingness of World Rugby to stand up to the Six Nations and institute a global season

This is fake/blatant lie news, the corporations/World Rugby who couldn't get their way in creating this globalist competition which would have wrecked Countries League Seasons and the World Cup itself are still at it in trying to force their scam competition on Players and Fans who didn't even want it and they'll use any excuse other than the truth to why it failed.

The PI's problems are down to the fact that Aus/NZ for years have been for years draining those islands of their best players and the Presidents and officials of the Unions of those Islands are corrupt as fuck and dont put the money where its needed.

Fuck em, glad that globalist scam crashed and burned
>>
>>95335680
Basically this and they don't have any money to do anything with anyway. I remember watching Fiji in the Hong Kong sevens without boots because they either couldn't afford them or had no opportunity to buy some.
>>
>>95335478
This. They’ve shifted to seething jealousy of based England now.
>>
>>95334522
We need to guarantee the T2 sides more games against T1 teams. Hansen maligns the failure of the Nation’s Championship but it locked most of T2 rugby out of games with T1 sides. Georgia and the Pacific islands were against the competition from the outset. The 6N absolutely acted out of self interest, but that self interest just so happened to align with the correct course of action.
I would restructure the Summer and Winter tours to increase the number of games T2 sides get against T1 sides. I’ve thought about this a bit and I’d create a pool format for at least 2 tours in each window. I’ll give an example of what I’m talking about.
Let’s say Scotland tours South Africa. Instead of a 3 game series, we create a pool with 2 T2 teams, preferably 1 NH and 1 SH side. For argument’s sake, let’s say Canada and Uruguay. For the next 3 weeks they play each other in double-header’s across the traditional South African stadiums. Maybe there’s a 4th week where Scotland and South Africa play each other again, just to maintain the structure of a tour.
This would at least guarantee the T2 nation’s games against T1 opposition and would cut down on travel costs for the poorer unions.
>>
>>95335895
I'm thinking going to a double-header at Lansdowne to see Georgia v Japan followed by Ireland v Australia sounds like a pretty good evening of entertainment.

Like I said, I'm not endorsing the messenger, just fascinated by the problem underlying the message. And I'm not going to argue player drain isn't a problem. It is. As it stands, if not Oz/NZ, the PI players will just be drawn to the Top14 or Pro14 clubs. Which will probably displace the Oz/NZ players there from their cozy salaries, but that's another story.

If an ideal world where the PI players can enjoy the convenience of comfortable employment in their own countries, then I'll make do with the current world. Because frankly, them going to other leagues is a waste of their potential.

>Like I said, I'm not endorsing the messenger, just fascinated by the problem underlying the message.

I have my doubts Hansen even said anything on the subject, The PI Countries have been in this financial situation for the last 100 years when it comes to funding their sports teams

Why now is it all of a sudden an issue with the "media"? Because the media are part of a globalist mafia looking to ring fence and monetize all major world sports at the detriment of Countries own domestic Leagues.

Its no coincidence that they only just brought in a "League of Nations" into Football last year which has resulted in half empty stadiums which the fans have no interest in watching and they were trying to pull the same corporate scam with Rugby.

The PI do have problems but they have always been there, people need to wake up to the manipulation that the media keep pulling day after day, theres nothing to be fascinated about, its quite obvious what they're up to and what its about.

On that thought I think it would be good to have one of the double-headers in another part of the country where rugby is popular. The Italians and French do this already to an extent, with Padova and Marseille respectively. So Ireland could have one of the weekends where both T1s are taking on T2s in Limerick, using either Thomond Park or Páirc na nGeal if the GAA are up for it. The English could use the Ricoh in Coventry or try and use a big Football Stadium around Leicester or something. The Welsh could use the Liberty Stadium in Swansea. The Scots would have to use a football stadium probably.

I'm simply happy with more test matches and this is a fine idea. If say for example Ireland or France tours NZ/Oz and the Fijian team get to play them in Suva, or the Japanese gets a match - that will be great. The Japanese always fill their stadiums as well - so it's money to be made.

This but in Salthill so I can stay the weekend somewhere nicer than Limerick. It's a comfy train ride too.
>>
So here's what I'm thinking in terms of a full cycle of these alternate tours. 2 tours between T1 and T2 sides in both windows, and a 3rd tour where minnows play each other in a nation we'd like to see the sport grow in (so giving the host nation a shot at winning might be more appealing than watching them stomped by world cup contenders).
This all still leaves room for the nations not involved in those tours to run conventional tours with other non participating nations. But limited team availability would force T1 sides to tour T2 sides at home more frequently. So for example in the 2020 SH window, England might tour Argentina and France tour Australia, leaving Ireland and Italy to tour Japan and the pacific islands. In the NH window of the same year, the Saffer and Kiwis would probably play the British teams, leaving 1 slot for a T2 side to play each of the British sides.

It's a rating system based on actual performance and the ratings equal the likely margin of a game between the 2 sides
It's not a rating system where if you win 7 games vs the same opponent then lose 3 that you opponent will be higher than you on ranking points.
If you want to make a decent prediction use this ranking system

Have been thinking about something there today, for 10 straight years NZ have been untouchable at the top of the rankings which is a fucking amazing record in a Professional Sport, I mean you'd expect at some stage the top team in the world would drop a few places, We're all only Human and all that. Was thinking what could cause a loss of dominance like that.

Then it occurred to me to me that in the last few years theres been a few stories about players in New Zealand being caught for doping.

https://www.the42.ie/new-zealand-players-banned-doping-4144308-Jul2018/

https://www.bbc.com/sport/rugby-union/42630419

For 111 years we couldn't beat the fucks once then we go beat them twice in 2 years, they barely managed to beat Scotland (who should have won) the last time they played, South Africa (who are still doped up to the tits) have been knocking them over in the last few games and Argentina could have and should have had their first win over them in the last RC game between them.

It looks to me like NZ players have had to change the "supplements" they take in the last few years leading to that untouchability they used to have disappearing and leading to other Countries like Ireland and Wales who never were ranked 1st having a go at being at the top, If NZ dont win the WC i could see England or South Africa topping the rankings after it.

Its just interesting to me that after seeing those doping stories in the last few years suddenly the top ranking Countries seem a lot more even and open.
>>
>>95341957
But how much does doping boost pure skill? ABs are rarely the biggest or fastest but when it comes to pure talent they dominate. Wales have been huge over the last few years but our players are/have been donkeys in comparison.
>>
>>95341710
The points in the world ranking system are won and lost, that means that during the regular season they swap around in isolated pools until a tour or tournament let's the different hemispheres mix, the larger the tour or tournament the more accurate the ranking system is at the end of it. That is why its doubled for the world cup, to try get it to be relevant. Argies for example are hardly ever above all tier 2 nations but they are well and truly tier 1, because they are constantly beat down in the rugby championship they can never accumulate points to get to where they realistically should be on the rankings.
This means that the points for most the time the ranking dont actually mean anything and dont actually represent who is stronger in the world, just who is strongest in each hemisphere yearly comps. For the first match of a NH tour down here the points dont mean a thing at all, the two teams could be on identical points but the bookies and everyone witha brain would know one team is a larger favourite.
>>
>>95342023
>But how much does doping boost pure skill?

It doesn't, but when mixed with "speed" and "Aggressiveness" it makes you untouchable, theres no doubt they have the skill, but how much more "skilled" can you be than the average pro player from another Country??
>>
>>95342189
didn’t read lmao

NZ play the game at a faster pace, but honestly they approach and understand the game differently. It's no coincidence Wales & Ireland have improved so much under Kiwi coaches.

>In a bid to boost live and television audiences, night matches in Australia will kick off at 7.15pm, which is about 25 minutes earlier than in recent seasons. Games in New Zealand will also kick off earlier, at 5.05pm (AEDT).

One of the doormen did tell me I was on my own if they kicked off outside haha. Once the game was over everyone was friends again, just a game lad.

>Coach has the stupidity to criticize other Countries attacking

Fuck Off

Id rather lose games/tournaments attacking and scoring try's than winning it by defending and playing Gatland ball, Fucking despicable way to play the game

So fucking hype for the RWC desu. Really just hoping a bullshit accidental red doesn't ruin it.

I had a father and my mum wasn't alcoholic until he left well after I was an adult. Any "edge" is just a result of being on this site for 13 years, though unlike poltato I do my best not to drag shit from other boards in here.

Gotta be Scottish, only team that bitter towards us are Scotland. England and Ireland can be bitter but at least they win things. Scotland lose everything and still act entitled.

They're dark horses, stand a good chance against any NH side. But could also get blown out.

It will be close, I reckon the refs will be the deciders tttt

France kicking England out in the pool stage (AGAIN) would be epic. They should be awarded two world cups if they manage to do it.
>>
>>95387400
To be honest if there's any country that really should have won the world cup by now it's France. Absolute giant-killers.
>>
>>95387429
Most lost finals than any other country - not to mention 1995 semi Benazzi try and other semifinal losses. It's all very... French. You know.
>>
>>95387400
France winning the Cup would be neat. Imagine the seethe from poms if they won FIFA then RWC back-to-back

Last football WC wasn't France but their African mercenaries that won it, the one in 98 (i think it was) they pulled a South Africa and spiked Brazils food/water, remember reading about it at the time about Ronaldo being seriously sick the night before the Final and all the other team members being badly affected by it

I have my worries about this Rugby WC and the dirty shit that will get pulled behind the scenes, poisoning tactics and far more covert now than they were 20 years ago

I honestly don't see how he fits in anymore. He is reserve first five while Barrett is over seas I guess? He doesn't perform how our outside backs do atm and he doesn't do as well as richie in control of the back line.
That experiment failed and he doesn't perform well enough in a single niche to command a non utility spot.
>>
>>95394667
BENCH IMPACT PLAYER
>>
>>95394667
Jordie outplays him easily back 3, he's not reliable at first-five. Onto the trash heap he goes.
>>
>>95394667
>>95394449
That's probably how he'll be most effective anyway. Play him in the second half off the bench against slowed opposition
>>
>>95394715
Not currently, but likely in the future. Jordie's still far from a finished product.
>>
>>95394691
Jordie and/or Bridge Reece depending on how the starting line up looks like.
>>95394744
That's the only situation he was good from. When he started tests he kicked the ball put on the full and was tackled so hard we lost possession and then threw wild hospital passes to not get heemed
We have better players that can come off the bench earlier if needed and not be liabilities.
>>
Who's the next best first five in NZ after BB and Richie? If that's Dmac that's the only way he gets into a black jersey again 2bh

Josh Ioane is not ready to replace Beauden Barrett when the ABs want to play dual playmakers. McKenzie may still be the first choice fullback in those circumstances.
