>A skull unearthed in Greece has been dated to 210,000 years ago, at a time when Europe was occupied by the Neanderthals.>The sensational discovery adds to evidence of an earlier migration of people from Africa that left no trace in the DNA of people alive today.>The findings are published in the journal Nature.>Researchers uncovered two significant fossils in Apidima Cave in Greece in the 1970s.>One was very distorted and the other incomplete, however, and it took computed tomography scanning and uranium-series dating to unravel their secrets.>The more complete skull appears to be a Neanderthal. But the other shows clear characteristics, such as a rounded back to the skull, diagnostic of modern humans.
>>10797689>What's more, the Neanderthal skull was younger.>"Now our scenario was that there was an early modern group in Greece by 210,000 years ago, perhaps related to comparable populations in the Levant, but it was subsequently replaced by a Neanderthal population (represented by Apidima 2) by about 170,000 years ago," said co-author Prof Chris Stringer, from London's Natural History Museum.>People living outside Africa today trace their ancestry to a migration that left the continent 60,000 years ago.As these modern humans expanded across Eurasia, they largely replaced other species they encountered, such as the Neanderthals and Denisovans.>But this wasn't the first migration of modern humans (Homo sapiens) from Africa.>Homo sapiens fossils from Skhul and Qafzeh in Israel were dated in the 1990s to between 90,000 and 125,000 years ago.>These were viewed as anomalies - a brief foray outside our African homeland that came to very little.>However, in recent years, we've come to understand that our species ranged outside Africa even earlier and further than we'd previously believed.>In the last few years, palaeontologists have discovered modern human fossils from Daoxian and Zhirendong in China dating to between 80,000 and 120,000 years ago.>DNA studies have turned up signs of early interbreeding between African humans and Neanderthals. Evidence from German Neanderthals shows that mixing occurred between 219,000 and 460,000 years ago, although it's not clear if Homo sapiens was involved, or another early African group.https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-48913307
Interestingso is it possible there have been amh going in and out of northern africa for hundreds of millenia but only the 60k migration left a traceable genetic fingerprint?
>>10798891Yes. https://www.livescience.com/65906-oldest-modern-human-skull-eurasia.html>The skull, found in Eurasia and dating back 210,000 years, is the oldest modern human bone that anthropologists have discovered outside Africa, the researchers said.>This skull, however, had an unusual neighbor: a 170,000-year-old, possibly Neanderthal skull that was found resting next to it, in a cave in southern Greece. Given that the Neanderthal skull is a solid 40,000 years younger than the modern human skull, it appears that this particular human's early dispersal out of Africa failed. There are no living descendants of this enigmatic human alive today, and this person's group was replaced by Neanderthals, who later lived in that very same cave, the researchers said.>"We know from the genetic evidence that all humans that are alive today outside of Africa can trace their ancestry to the major dispersal out of Africa that happened between 70[,000] and 50,000 years before present," study lead researcher Katerina Harvati, a professor of paleoanthropology at the University of Tübingen in Germany, told reporters at a news conference.>Other earlier modern-human dispersals out of Africa have been documented at sites in Israel, including one based on the discovery of a 194,000- to 177,000-year-old modern human jaw from Misliya Cave and others tied to early human fossils dated to about 130,000 to 90,000 years ago at the Skhul and Qafzeh caves. But "we think that these early migrants did not actually contribute to modern humans living outside of Africa today, but rather died out and were probably locally replaced by Neanderthals," Harvati said. "We hypothesize this is a similar situation with the Apidima 1 [the newly dated modern human skull] population."
>>10798891the "out of africa theory" has to hold otherwise the better development of the other ethnic groups becomes difficult to explain. the people that went out of africa became subject to difficult conditions that force them to evolve, adapt and develope better skills to survive..
hold on for just a minute.are you saying we used to be kings and such?
Based on the OP image, I thought this thread was about the backside of that really fast polar bear.
>one neandarthal and one modern humanoh no no nohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hceWiu5QbUHE WAS RIGHT
>>10800454non sub-saharans are closest in relation to the Hadza people than other african groups.
>>10800527we been sovereigns and whatnot yes
>>10797689Pretty sure 300,000 year old artifacts were found in australasia and that took over for the origin of modern humans.
>>10803149>Early whitesNo such thing as early whites. >>10803153Source? I know the oldest Homo Sapien fossils found were from Jebel Irhoud.
I didn't believe in the out of Africa theory but now I do
>>10804549Why now? What made you change your mind?
>>10803512Just google for australasia origins rewrites human history or something
Lol at brainlets who can't observe the fact that Africa was likely the birth of humanity, and is also the current home of the lowest IQ humans.
>>10806799What does Africa currently being home to the supposed lowest IQ humans have to do with it likely being the birth of humanity?
>>10806816Purity spiralists can't wrap their head around the fact that these two seemingly true facts can exist mutually. Let's not even bring up the fact the left doesn't even want to talk about race and IQ.
WE WAS HOMO SAIPENS N SHIEET
>>10800533fugg cant unsee it now
>>10797689Do we know much about its morphology?
>>10797689>A skull unearthed in GREECE>Lol no it's from Africa!!!Fuck jews, fuck niggers, fuck zoomers. Shall they burn in hell with Muhammad.

>>10806826>The Bell Curve
>>10808448Not as of right now.
>>10809583nice twitter meme faggot
>>10797689Israel is going to be pissed. Expect them to fund a lot more archaeology now.
>>10811174Why would Israel be pissed exactly?
>>10811189Israel has a hard on for ignoring the whole "left no genetic trace/has no descendants" thing (as do a lot of other countries in other ways tbf) and was using the oldest human fossil thing as evidence of them being like the birthplace of civilization/modern man. This is important to a conservative minority that like to take the Bible/Talmud real literally. What's likely to happen now is funding for more digs until they find an even older fossil, considering how old the above fossil is though I doubt one is going to legitimately be found.
>>10797689So how long have humans been outside of Africa? We need to revise our migration theories but it seems as though blacks never left Africa.
>>10811259couple of million if we're counting erectus and other humans
>>10811281By humans I mean homo sapiens.
People outside of Africa didn't turn white until they started widespread farming (fairly recently, maybe 10,000 years). Evolutionary adaptation to reduced vitamin D diets. The first whites spread into Europe even more recently, from the Northern Caucasus region and maybe what's now Turkey and Iran. Slavs, Celts, and Germanics are all their descendents. "Iran" is a form of the word "aryan". That modern human skull found in Greece was probably dark-skinned, as were other proto-Europeans up until a few thousand years ago (maybe 7,000 to 4,000).
>>10811259There's evidence of a return to Africa as well.
Multiregionalism theories just keep on getting vindicated
>>10811290obviously, I was being facetious.
>These fags have wasted 100k years that could have been technological advancement by being cucked by Neanderthals.
>>10811541maybe it took them that long to grow smarter than the neanderthals?
>>10811547There could be more to that than you might think. Neanderthals' hand bone structure was suited for fine, detailed work. The hand structure of the modern humans of that era was more suited to coarse work, things like using spears.
>>10811556interesting, got a source?
>>10811202>tfw nationalist trick themselves into funding more sciencePretty nice actually.

>>10811532...No, not really.
>>10811709Yes reallyOut of Africa is bullshit
>>10811706>arbitrarilyNice buzzword. When did you learn it?
>>10797689Maybe the Aborigines are the original homosapiens?
>>10813363This is one of the oldest Homo Sapien skulls found.
>>10806816The hypothesis that hybridisation with Neanderthals caused a leap in intelligence might explain things but will be so politically incorrect few will talk about it publicly. Most of humans today are not h. Sapiens but hybrids with them and at least 3 other branches of homo.
>>10797689Neanderthals killed them all the first time?
>>10815072That's one possible alternative.
>>10815064what about the hadza and san
>>10815209If the hypothesis is true and that there was minimal Neanderthal genes flowing back into Africa (a rather strange idea, really), everyone native to south of Sahara would not have benefited from Neanderthal genes.
