>Once upon a time, in a faraway land...You're a dragon! The great beast of legends, a fire-breathing monster bringing terror and death to the land!Or so the legends say, at least. In truth you're just a fledgling dragon on the cusp of adulthood, so you haven't had a chance to do anything yet. But that's bound to change now that you've left the seclusion of mother's lair, out into the world to seek your own destiny! And so it is Riona, red dragoness, young and smaller than a horse... as you emerge from a mountainous cave and look down upon the lands before you. Green foothills, ranges of forests and expanses of grasslands and fields, broken by rivers and roads. All reaching to the horizon and awaiting your will.>What do you do?
>>3639213Explore the forest
>>3639213Eat. You need to grow larger
>>3639232SupportingAnd if we come across something delicious, then all the better.
>>3639232>>3639236>>3639251Hmmm... I could do with something to eat...Indeed you are not that big, not remotely as big as mother at least. You wouldn't want to be outdone by your siblings (having similarly emerged into the world around this same time) so eating and growing is important. The best place to start based on your draconic wisdom then, the nearest expanse of forest you can see many, many miles down the mountain range in the distance. Partly because you expect prey to dwell in the forest, partly because you've seen trees up close before so are curious. And thus you stretch your wings, and take flight! After a few attempts that is, you've never truly flown before beyond some minor practice within mother's lair... so you crash land a few times. Let that be left out of your legend, of course. But before long you're soaring through the air, a red dash of color against the blue descending from the mountains. Feeling the wind, the openness of the sky... so much more freedom than the dark caverns of mother's lair. Over the rocky rises, over the foothills, and down into the verdant green of thick forest."Ah! Too fast!"In your... completely justified and deserving draconic hubris, you were so elated to properly take flight for the first time that you hadn't bothered to learn how to land! Thankfully in your infinite wisdom, you chose the forest of course in order to have trees to break your landing. Thus you smash through several smaller trees on the way to a solid once which you collide with and painfully halts your path. You shake your head, stretch your wings, try to work out the soreness of the impact but otherwise you're fine. And for the first time in your life, among trees! Strange things, all this green is a bit much for you coming from caves, and their size as some of them to make you feel small seems like an insult! Apparently they ignite easily? But then what doesn't... the important thing is you can't eat them, you don't think. Listening to the sounds of wildlife in the forest, your mighty stomach growls in anticipation. Though, along the way you had noticed some sort of artificial structure... a house, you think it's called?>What do you do? If you want to go hunting through the forest you can make a roll of a d100 for the effort, to see what you find.
Rolled 87 (1d100)>>3639317Munch munch
Rolled 24 (1d100)>>3639317
Rolled 26 (1d100)>>3639317let's hunt some animals!
>>3639331>>3639335>>3639388>87Your size and your color doesn't help the process of hunting, especially in a forest it seems as you end up scaring away most sizeable prey. Fortunately it seems your reputation precedes you, for after awhile of traipsing through the trees, you catch a different scent on approach and happen upon a humanoid in fact. A human probably, it looks like a human, and they've killed some large woodland creature with antlers for you! A fine offering from this lowly biped, as you stomp out of the trees to grace the person with your presence. It's only natural that your glory would be too much for their feeble form to handle at first, as they scream and run away upon witnessing you. You humbly accept the offering though and hungrily tear into the freshly killed animal. Quite different from the goats and sheep you were used to when dwelling with mother, but a hearty meal all the same. More in fact than you can actually stomach, as you end up eating your fill, perhaps too much but there's still a whole portion or so left of the carcass. You consider maybe taking it with you, but you can always find more later you suppose, and who wouldn't bend over backwards to give you more offerings upon witnessing your majesty?Well the important thing is you're fed now, as the sun rises further in the sky visible through the treetops. With that out of the way, you can focus on pursuing your destiny once again... or simply satisfying your curiosities towards this brand new world of yours.>What do you do?
>>3639405Let's soar high in the skies and look for a suitable cave, or ruin to serve as our lair, are we far away from mother that we won't trespass on her hunting grounds?
>>3639405Look for an abandoned fortress. We can get a lair AND additions to our treasure stash
>>3639422>>3639431In theory, the way dragons operate would mean that the whole world is mother's domain, only to be contested by other dragons. But she's old enough and big enough (too big to fly anymore, even) that she doesn't venture out of her lair anymore, she is brought tribute instead. So even if you were to found your own lair right nearby her mountain she would probably never even know unless you impacted her tribute.Though of course you want to move free from beneath mother's wings, so you're not going to settle near to her, but you also don't need to worry about where you settle... at least from her. The real threat you know, would be roaming dragons like what father was, ones that aren't powerful enough or don't care enough to get tribute so they have to travel around in search of food or whatnot, and because of this never grow big. Currently what you are in this case, a roaming dragon now that you've left mother's protection, but of course there are dragons around not as powerful as mother but still greater than you.In any case, your ambition like any dragon worth respect, is to end up like mother; having a lair and tribute so that you don't have to lift a talon to do anything! Just centuries or even millennia of lazing about atop mounds of riches and being waited on and fed. So with that in mind, sufficiently fed for the time being you leave the forest behind the same way you entered and seek enough room to take flight, in search of a place you can call home for the time being. You don't expect it will become your permanent lair but it's something to start with. Why, by now you expect your siblings have their own similar dwellings already!>In search of a place to call home, for now, have you a preference about the surrounding territory? Like if it's inhabited or not? And of course, for the effort go ahead and make a roll to see what you can find.
Rolled 25 (1d100)>>3639481seek somewhere secluded but not too far away from a human settlement, we will need their riches and tributes too
Rolled 76 (1d100)>>3639481Lets leave our mother's influence, then find suitable lodging, like an abandoned fort or castle.
Rolled 82 (1d100)>>3639481Yeah, away but still close enough to others that we can have minions
Rolled 54 (1d100)>>3639481Ok, we need to be more powerful, but eating and waiting is boring. So, what if...wait...just hear me out...what if we found a town, and a bunch of those adventurers that sometimes came to bother mother? They often go to places where we can find powerful stuff and being a majestic and powerful dragon they cannot deny us from coming along, then we can demand the lions share of whatever pit they choose to sack and we can even take the place as our own after they help us clean it.I'm such an enterprising dragon!
>>3639528I like this more than I should
>>3639528>>3639572Certainly you're not limited in what you can do, you're a dragon after all! And not all dragons just snooze in caves all day. Some even interact with the lesser races, the thought!Though, if you were to do such things, there's no telling how you would be received...
>>3639528We should be wary though. Humans and potentially other kinds of people would definitely not think at first sight of a dragon “oh look an ally”. It’s probably going to be pretty hard to do. Maybe for now we try and find something simple where we can hunt and grow strong in our own before risking too much
>>3639522>>3639511>>3639498>>3639528>82You've lived under mother's wings for so long, that you want a chance to spread your own! This is your first true experience of freedom, and you want to embrace it! So you will travel far and wide in search of a place you can call your own, out of mother's shadow so that you can cast your own. Maybe in time you decide that dwelling in a lair isn't the sort of life for you, but at the very least you can first establish your own lair to begin with.So you spend the better part of a day soaring the skies, reminding the dwellers of the ground of your majesty, and searching for a new home. The more you do though, the more you come to truly realize the extent of your freedom and why you don't even need to remain around this region. So feeling bold, you simply pick a direction on a lark and start flying till the sun starts to set and you begin to feel tired, and hungry. Choosing some arbitrary point on the ground far below, you do a little more aerial exploring till night sets in. Finally settling on a target, you begin to descend.---A nice little valley that is roughly half-split between forested highlands then giving way to expansive farmlands the farther down you go and eventually extending out far enough... the sea. You've never seen the ocean before, the blue mirror to the sky stretching beyond the horizon. There's a decently sized settlement bordering the approximate "halfway" of the transition from higher forested land and lower cleared land. A nice little river running down through as well which goes all the way to the coast, at which point there's another similarly sized town. And all in between, a collection of smaller hamlets and outlying homesteads, and points of interest. By a passing glimpse, some sort of mountainous dwelling at the height of the valley. But your focus, was what appears to be some sort of constructed fortification nestled in the higher portion of the valley where the forest is dense. Almost overgrown to a point, but it seems like a lovely little spot for you to look out over what you could claim to be your domain. Just out of curiosity you do a passing sweep of the small castle and while it looks to be in good condition (apart from the encroaching wilds), it seems eerily uninhabited. You know little of the outside world, but you wouldn't expect the lesser races to build something like this and then just abandon it.Fortunately you can choose to explore at your leisure if you wish! It's just a choice of where you land, because not too far away from the castle farther down the valley and on the other side of the river, is some sort of encampment. No significant constructions beyond everything crudely made of wood from the surrounding forest, but it looks like a bustling little community as you do one sweep overhead...>With this little valley then, and a nice-looking little castle, where do you land and how do you proceed?
>>3639628>>3639628Risk? What risk can a bunch of flashbags pose to a magnificent lizard like us? We are using them as guides! To point us to where trasure and magic items lie!>>3639612I'm certain we would be recieved with reverence and offerings like those hunters did.Let's be cautious after we learn things the hard way is what I'm saying.
>>3639647>castleWe Dragon Queen now
>>3639647Visit one of the hamlets nearby, demand information to one of the lesser humans about the castle.
>>3639647Scout the place, look for signs of activity around it or nearby. If that thing is abandoned maybe something is already living inside.
>>3639647Build a lair. Every dragon needs a cool lair.
>>3639705>>3639689>>3639669>>3639734While making your presence known to your new subjects seems sensible, before anything else you would at least like to know you have a place to live. Maybe you could ask the dwellers down in the valley what they know, and the thought crosses your mind but you're here now so why not see for yourself."No no no bad angle!"Still getting the hang of landing, you try to make a precise drop between the trees near to the little castle but instead just crash straight into the river. Emerging from the waters with a gasp, you struggle to stay afloat as you paddle over to the shore and clamor onto the bank. Something... else, that will be left out of your legend! In any case you can shake yourself off before glimpsing around the area, a dense forest at night with the little castle just visible further upriver. Immediately though you feel... not afraid, dragons are never afraid! But unease, as besides the water of the river you hear nothing. No sounds of the forest, no wildlife. The more you look around and your eyes adjust, you think you might know why. A canopy of webs, a white network through the trees and choking the forest of life, many dead... things seen hanging from the trees and webs between them. This extends as far up as the castle, leading to concerns about what might dwell in these woods let alone the fortification itself......no, you're not afraid. Not at all! But perhaps... there are more pressing matters that demand your attention? Then again, the castle is right there.>What do you do?
>>3639765Breathe fire on the webs
>>3639765fly over it to the castle, leave the webbed area first, don't burn the webs, it will cause a forest fire
>>3639765Skip the forest. Don't need to fight giants spiders yet
>>3639765Lets find those adventurers to clear our castleWe are not afraid, nope, we just want to give the lessers a chance to prove themselves!
>>3639765Fuck spiders. Go back to our castle.
>>3639824But whatever we do, do not set fire to the webs and trees
>>3639765Go directly to the castle
>>3639831>>3639808The castle is only like a couple hundred yards away or so, it's not really that far to warrant flying unless you really want to.>>3639831>>3639824>>3639814>>3639778>>3639850Your first instinct is to set the webs alight. You know what spiders are, they were present in mother's lair. But tiny little things, just bugs. If there's some nasty big crawler around here, why not just burn away all it's influence? Channeling in your chest then, you spit some flames at a hanging webbed up... something, which causes it to ignite. Not as well as you would have thought though, whether it's the river or something else, the webs are actually pretty moist so they don't just go up like a torch. Feeling insulted, you consider really breathing fire on it all, but your infinite wisdom causes you to remember that you're in the middle of a forest. While fire is no danger to you... it would be a shame if you burned down your potential new home.So you resolve to just proceed onward, following the river the short distance to the castle overlooking it on the bank. The closer you get though to the castle, the more you start to encounter the webs. Forcing your way through at first easily enough but you start to accumulate webbing along and between your scales which starts to get caught on ever more webbing. Pretty soon it's starting to hurt to pull your wings free, and not much longer still you're having trouble moving! Naturally you thrash about to try and free yourself, but all that shaking causes you to get more stuck and also vibrate through all the webs in the area. You'd think nothing of it... until you start to feel vibrations coming back through the webs."Argh! This... this damnable forest!"No... no threat to you! Of course not! But your castle is so close now, it's only just there some hundred feet away stand the walls! It calls you enough that you don't care... well, care less, about the looming shapes moving through the trees in the moonlight.>What do you do?
>>3639884Set ourself on fire and run!
>>3639884the logic of flying there was avoiding the webs and getting on top of the castle, burn ourselves free with a small fire and go there from the air
>>3639911For as much as it was overgrown in your sweep overhead, it seems a certainty that landing from above, you'll just land among the thickest portion of webs.
>>3639920Ok, lets start cleasing then, free ourselves and lets start kicking some spider but with teeth and claw.
>>3639884Burn them all
>there's probably some spider queen living in OUR castle
>>3639926>>3639941Do you not care about spreading fire around? Because in order to free yourself/fight back you can start breathing fire every which way, but as said it's probably going to cause a forest fire.
>>3640005Fire can't hurt us. We're a dragon!
>>3640005Well it seems like we either free ourself with fire or get eaten and I have to admit that I'm a bit biased against getting eating by spiders
>>3640018I meant in the capacity to fight back, which some people seemed keen on. Freeing yourself is one thing, staying and fighting and breathing fire everywhere is another.
>>3640005do we have anyway of putting that fire off?anyway, we should at least free ourselves, and maybe try to fight the spiders using our body to limit the damage we are doing, but if survival is at stake, fire it is
>>3640020That's fair. Personally, I'm against setting forest on fire. Better to just get out and make some adventures clear it out for us
>>3640005We can't have giant spiders living in our future home. Do it.

>>3640106>97, 52Exercising as much restraint as you can afford then, you start spitting fire enough to be able to move your head around. After that, simple enough to just coat yourself in flames to burn away the webbing but without setting the whole forest ablaze. While you're freed thankfully, the fires do illuminate the area to something quite horrible. Fanning your wings and rearing up to make quite the fearsome display, you give a draconic roar to face down come what may but it's not just one spider...Infernal depths... there's too many!A horde of arachnids the size of dogs issue forth from the castle, skittering through the webs and trees and hissing, shrieking all the way. It's more disgusting to you than it is particularly scary, and you prepare to fight but your stomach turns as the wave of legs and sickening bodies stampedes over you. A moment of worry, panic as you feel overwhelmed and are completely covered in the nasty things. But you feel little nudges all over, feel them probing at you with their fangs and have to hold back laughter."Pa... Pathetic! You can't even pass my scales!"Indeed, your draconic hide is simply too tough for the spiders to even have a hope of biting through. Your underside is your weakest, you know the tales of humanoid knights on horseback skewering lesser dragons through the heart with a lance. But these spiders are nowhere near that amount of force, so as long as you keep your eyes and mouth closed, there's... nothing at all really that they can do. Which is perfect for you! As you simply just roll around on the ground a few times and crush a great many of the spiders crawling over you. Those that aren't killed in that manner, you simply pound into the dirt with the fists of your forelimbs, your tail, and even your head and horns. It's quite a ghastly display for sure but the triviality of it doesn't even stir your rage, it just feels like a chore to you.And in the end, you're left glistening blue from so much spider blood in the moonlight. Ironically you probably didn't kill even half of the total number but they seem to recognize a losing fight when they get one and the rest flee. Nothing to stop you now from approaching the castle... at least nothing you know of. But these spiders had to come from somewhere...>What do you do?
>>3640165March on to the castle! Kill the mother and burn their nest!
>>3640165You can't start forest fire by burning things inside of castle!
>>3640211Sure but you don't want to burn your new home down right?>>3640197Pushing onward then and feeling emboldened by your success so far, you approach the castle and enter through the gatehouse into the courtyard. It's not a big place so you probably couldn't make it your permanent lair if you intended to grow much bigger than you are. But for the time being at least, and your current size, it's quite nice for sure.If only you had more time to appreciate it though, but movement through the webs everywhere alerts you to the one remaining threat."Fire-maker... trespasser... killer..."The hissing words of the common language creep from the darkness, as legs begin to emerge and a grotesque, hulking form crawls through the webs and out of the castle interior to the courtyard. Afraid? No, of course not! But you are startled by the sheer size; you're not used to things being bigger than you apart from mother. And this spider is as big as an elephant at least, perhaps more if you consider as far as the legs can reach. And this one, you feel probably could bite you and break through your scales, given the size... the spider is all that stands between you and your castle, but is it worth risking your life?>What do you do?
>>3640364NOPE, I vote we GTFO leave this cursed place to the spiders.
>>3640399I agree, we should leave. We barely know how to fly. I doubt we can fight very well besides breathing fire if we’ve been with our mother up until this point. We need to get stronger first before we start fighting dangerous enemies.
>>3640364Fuck that. Burn it down. Even if we do not acquire this castle it'll be service to the world.

>>3640451>>3640446>>3640413>>3640409>>3640399As much as you'd like to burn this monstrosity alive and possibly the castle down on it, you're not sure what it's capable of and it's not worth risking your life. Not when you've learned pretty much everything you want to know already and could return later, prepared. Though, you're not afraid, never! You're just exercising your wisdom here, not showing an ounce of fear."In this common tongue, I am called Riona. What is your name?"Proudly you introduce yourself, and bravely challenge the great monster to an introduction. While you don't detect a hint of civilization from the creature, your response is so... odd, so direct that it almost seems to confuse the spider. Long enough at least that it hesitates to immediately attack."...Tryxalan... name... die no-""Well Trickalick, it was an honor to meet you but if you'll excuse me, I need to wash off the blood of all your children!"The most blood-curdling shriek of rage as the spider's many eyes seem to turn red, in her immediate charge towards you. Expecting as much though and with an excited smile, you jump back out of the way and rush for the gatehouse. You're fast for your small size but the spider in short distances seems faster still... yet just barely in time are you able to leap through the gatehouse as the giant arachnid crashes into it and can't fit out that way. You look back with a laugh of ridicule before continuing down to the river to take flight and escape, before the monster can climb over the castle walls and chase you. An attempt is made to ensnare you by hurling great strands of spider silk skyward at you, but they simply fall short as you beat your wings and soar off into the night with a roar of triumph and laughter.Maybe it's not total victory, you don't have the castle... but you will, you feel infinitely confident of that now, knowing what you're up against. Just a matter of returning with the right preparations and finishing the job. In the meantime though, without the castle you'll need someplace to stay, to rest after that fight. And the forest below... you'd prefer not to take your chances after that little exchange with the spider.>What do you do?

Let the lesser races squabble about things like laws and morality, the world is yours for the taking... it's just how you do it, is up to you.So then, you'll have shelter from one of the isolated farms. And given that it's night, you can approach without anyone aware. Just checking then, are you going out of your way to be brutal, or are you just not taking any shit from anyone in getting what you want?...or, as it were, being nice and friendly and asking/letting them know?>Whether or not you're setting the bar for yourself for your life going forward, specifically in regards to this valley you may end up claiming, you might want to decide in what manner you intend to act towards the occupants.

Although not as blunt as her fellow black dragon brother, she was the crueler of the two.>Ymirro, brother - Intelligent and curious, and the closest to "good" but punished for it and always the black sheep of the lot. He always sought cooperation and understanding with the lesser races and thought they had something to offer, but was clever enough to maintain the upper hand. And your father, you never knew. Just that he was a young black dragon, hence two of your siblings being black dragons themselves while you and Ymirro are red.Just something to think about, as you achieve your legend in the world. You and your siblings all left mother's care around the same time, so they too are off in the lands seeking their own destinies.

>>3640680>>3640704>>3640684>>3640728>>3640688>>3640689Having crash landed among a crop field, you consider what sort of action you will take against these lesser race occupants of the farmstead. It's a bit of a dilemma actually because you'd not considered it this seriously before, and you get caught up in the pros and cons of many things. In the end though you decide the worst thing would be to get caught up with indecision like that, so you'll just act. The shelter is yours to take, and while you won't butcher everyone automatically, if they bother you at all you'll give them fire.So without hesitation then you approach the little farmstead of a house, barn, and a couple other buildings. You can see lights inside the house but that doesn't concern you much, you want a place for yourself and you'll choose the biggest one of course! The barn, as you near the doors and curiously investigate what sort of mechanism the occupants have of closing the place off. Growing impatient, you just force the door inward enough to break it with your head."Oh, the animals sleep here? Wait... the lesser races make homes for their animals?"It seems you're not alone, as there's some cows and horses in here which are obviously spooked by a dragon forcing entry and start to panic. Well, you are hungry, but these animals are a bit big, killing them would go to waste when you only eat some. Perhaps you could find a sheep or a goat? While you further investigate the interior of the barn, having never seen the structures of lesser races before, you hear some calling in the common language from outside. You pay it no mind till you hear a scream and see some human standing at the broken door in shock. Must have heard the animals or your forced entry.Seized in fear, they fall to the ground in disbelief at the sight of you... yes, you like that.>Your first encounter with the occupants here... not really bothering you but you ponder killing them anyway, this one at least. They're smaller than the big animals here, less would go to waste.
>>3640794yes good. very good. we're hungry from the fight and we could use a cow or two.
>>3640794get right up in there face loom very menacingly and say "ah, man my bad didn't mean to scare you. I'm just going to sleep in your barn for the night. I'm also going to eat one of your goats."I yearn to see the fear mixed with confusion.
>>3640810Nah man that would wast meat, let's go with a goat. waste not want not.
>>3640794Eat a goat and sleep.

>>3640810>>3640815>>3640819>>3640833>>3640841>>3640847>>3640860The horses and cows are bigger than you, how insulting! But to kill them for sure would be a waste of meat. A goat is the going rate, at your current size. So you menacingly approach the human who cries and whimpers and crawls away from the barn as you emerge, feeling so big, so proud. Your heart is delighted at their deference to your glory."I am taking this barn... where are the goats?""AAAAAHHHHH!!"It seems your speaking is the final straw, as the human panics and flees in fear to the house. Shortly after there's yelling and screaming, and clattering inside."Did I say something wrong?"You know the common language, you learned it from Ymirro however you've never had an actual conversation with a lesser race before so you wonder if maybe you spoke wrongly? Well whatever the case, the occupants all share in the same panic and shortly after flee for their lives out the back of the house and off towards the hills, humorously dragging some few belongings with them. "I suppose that makes things easier..."It's not difficult then to find where the goats are, a little pen around the side of the house, and to drag one out to eat your fill. Feeling satisfied, you give another look to the little lantern of the humans, still fleeing as it gets farther away. Very funny to you, you can't help laughing to yourself a little on your way back to the barn......although, their house is empty now.>What do you do?
>>3640905make sure the animals in the barn can't escape by blocking the entrance and sleep in the house for the night.
>>3640905Welp, that's on them. Sleep in the biggest bed you find and block the barn so the animals don't run off
>>3640905>"I am taking this barn... where are the goats?"I like this line, also holy shit look at that goat!

>>3641016...I want to know what quest you were in.
>>3641016What the fuck. Sweden as a world super power? That's just not realistic.>>3640931this
>>3640919>>3640920>>3640931You check the barn then and to make sure the animals can't escape, you drag the broken door back into place. After that though, you curiously approach the house and after looking around inside for a bit you finally enter. What a strange but interesting place these lesser races dwell in, with all sorts of... things, all over the place! You just know Ymirro would love it here, if you yourself are already curious at what everything is and does, and part of you kind of wishes you'd grabbed one of the humans before they all fled just so you could get them to tell you what everything was and to give you a tour of the place. So cute, so quaint. Not really appealing to you since none of it is a display of power, but it's delightfully interesting to see how the other side lives and devotes their lives to. Like wearing clothes, it's something that is so very curious to you. Well, one thing that does appeal to you, the humans know a thing or two about comfort. While exploring the place you can find a bed, you know what beds are, and you can climb onto it and slump down as the wood creaks. But so used to sleeping on stone, furs or leather, to have an actual bed is an incredible feeling. Something amazing indeed, as you stretch out against the softness and lift up the covers in curiosity about what they're for. Eventually though you can find a comfortable position and rest your head on some pillows, taking off the tension of a long, busy and tiresome day. You don't much like the smell of the humans on the bed, the sheets and pillows, but it's a small price to pay for this comfort."Ahhh... now this I could get used to..."So much too, most of the day spent flying, only to soon after get into a fight for your life! It's amazing to think that only days prior you'd been living under mother's wings as you ever had. Such a strange and expansive new world, and if it's all to be as enjoyable as your first day in it was, then you're looking forward to experiencing it all.---"-I say, come out dragon!"You startle awake, having had a long and deep sleep it seems and finding yourself drooling on the pillow. Dreary-eyed you look around and are startled at first as you fall out of the bed with a slam, confused as to where you are. "Your reign of terror has met its end!"The yelling voice outside though gradually reminds you of where you are. It wasn't all just a dream, you aren't still living with mother, you did indeed set off into the world to find your destiny. And struggling to right yourself on all fours and knocking things over, making a mess of the bedroom, you can move to the window (displeased by the bright morning light) and see that there is indeed a mounted knight with a lance waiting outside the farmstead yelling for you. Him and a few others father back and watching."...I hate Morndays.">What do you do?

>>3641144>>3641121>>3641114>>3641113>>3641112>89Maybe the best sleep you've had in a long time, you're a little annoyed to have had it cut short as you trundle through the farmhouse and knock things over as you go. Fitting out of the door, you shy to the morning light at first but step fully outside and stretch a little now that you have the room. Like watching a cat stretch, except a big fire breathing lizard, there's some hesitation from the knight over such a strange sight."Why can a dragon not get some beauty sleep around here?""...hold on, it can talk?"You notice the few gathered humans at the back murmuring among themselves, as if they're all a bit taken aback, the knight included that... well you seem sapient to them at least. Probably expecting some animalistic monster, hearing you speak what you assume to be decent common, has confused them."Well... you had best find someplace else to sleep! What say you?""The humans who live here left on their own, I had nothing to do with it. I fail to see how this is not my farm now."Your own farm, that has a nice ring to it. In any case the knight is wholly unprepared for this exchange, perhaps even would withdraw for a time to consider the situation, till those at the rear goad him on.
"Just kill it!""Why are you even talking with the thing?"Consternation perhaps, for a short while till the jeering spurs the knight onward. He gives you an order to retreat and follows by hefting the lance and urging his horse on. Of course you instantly take that as hostility then, and draw in a deep breath, heaving your chest and channeling your throat to spew a torrent of flame at the knight when he draws close enough. To your surprise though he just holds up his shield which the stream of fire collides with and sets ablaze, but otherwise doesn't burn much else and merely spooks the horse. Compared to mother who can melt stone or anything else she pleases, you feel a little humbled and figure you've got some growing to do.Before you have much a chance to react though the knight charges onward and close enough to deliver a blow with his lance! Fortunately he hits your shoulder, not your underside which would have been bad, so while you feel the pain of the blow it doesn't cause you any actual harm as the weapon splinters against you. Angered, you wince from the attack but follow up with a pounce right for the knight now that he's so close, colliding with and knocking him and the horse to the ground with you. While the horse rights itself and flees in a panic though, you've got the knight pinned to the ground and are trying to bite him but again have trouble getting through his shield, the only thing between him and your bashing head and teeth. "Good Sir! I'll save yo-"Seeing this unfold, most of the other humans are quite shocked but one foolishly runs towards you to help the downed knight, though you just swat them away with your tail. Given the chance the knight, with great difficulty since you're more or less perched on top of him, reaches down to try and draw another weapon. Seeing this though you just step down on his arm, producing a yelp of pain from the metal-clad warrior. You've got him at your mercy now, your anger over the attack mixed with an intense pride... and even some humor, at your peerless triumph over the best sort of warrior the humans have to offer. If this is the best they can throw at you... well, you can't imagine how the legends speak of knights slaying dragons.>What do you do?
>>3642463"well now that all that unpleasantness is done with I am going to have to ask you to tell your militia to stand down, you are beaten."
>>3642463I'm recruiting people for something, can you point me to stronger humans than this one?
>>3642463"You tried to kill me, now i return the favor"breath fire
>>3642481also"Your shield, how does it do that?"I want magical items for our dragon, it's the fastest way to get powerful while we wait to grow up
>>3642491>>3642489>>3642483>>3642481>>3642474For his impudence you would very much like to roast the knight alive, channeling the fire in your throat as smoke billows from your mouth and nostrils. Before you vomit burning death all over him though, you wisely recall your relatives in this moment, and how they would act..."...well... now that all that... unpleasantness is done with... I am going to have to ask you to tell your militia to stand down, you are beaten."You could just burn and kill everything and everyone, and part of you very much wants to. But you recall your feeble red brother Ymirro, and his strange belief that dragons could use cleverness, charisma and charm as weapons just as effective as fire, teeth and claws. Normally you'd snort at such ridiculousness, but when else might you get the chance to try as you have in this moment, and what have you got to lose now that you're victorious? Besides, you do fancy yourself as charming and charismatic. In any case you swipe away the sword from the knight, and step off him, much to his disbelief."I... uh... st-stand down... men?""You coward! I'll see it done! Hotulemec!"In defiance, another fool from the small group of onlookers rushes closer. A very strange manner of dress you think, not armored but robed in rich colors and patterns of the cloth, he opens a book and utters some strange incantation from which violet streaks of energy coalesce to his hands and then at his direction bolt towards you in a magical blast! Which... dissipates in an almost comical puff of smoke when it hits you. The fool must not realize that magic doesn't work against dragons, but seeing it for himself he immediately raises his hands up and drops to the ground."I surrender!"It seems seeing a knight and a wizard ineffective against the beast they'd set out to slay, the rest of the small gathered group about six humans in total, all similarly set down their arms nervously and raise their hands in surrender. Well, almost all of them. The only other human with a horse, and well-dressed at that, sees this and insults all of them before hastily retreating. Of course doing so is an insult to you as well, and you consider pursuing him... but standing victorious, you also have these defeated humans to consider. You cannot imagine their loyalty or servitude so easily, if you were to leave them be. And to be fair you are more than a little curious about how the knight withstood your fiery breath.>What do you do?
>>3642538"If you want me to move out that much I could consider it if you remove certain spider nest for me, that or I could just eat you all"
>>3642538make Who was your former lord, what can you tell me about the local land, and finally what is up with the spider castle?
>>3642557ThisAnd ask about the shield and if they have any other magical device.
>>3642557>>3642573>>3642583Let the fool run, you've got all the humans you need right here. Taking the knight hostage then in a sense, in as far as that you drag him with you and don't immolate him as long as there's cooperation, you give the others a deathly glare and... encourage them to draw near.---Probably the last thing you expected when waking up was to have yourself a little audience of lesser beings, but there's a first time for everything. With the threat against their lives, you command them to bring a bed outside for you to sit on through these... negotiations, as well as a goat for your breakfast. You feel quite regal then, sitting proudly atop the bed while the humans all stand or kneel humbly about you. You can recall the rare occasions when lesser races would seek diplomacy with mother, sending groups of fearful people to sing her praises and bring many gifts, just for a chance to beg her for something. Even if this can't really compare to that, you still feel special for it as you peruse over the magic items gathered from among them and placed at the foot of the bed for your viewing. Though oddly, the shield isn't there, apparently it's not magical?"Who is your mothe- your ruler, what can you tell me about this land, and finally what is that castle in the... highlands? I believe is the word."To show off you try to speak more dominantly over these worms, your voice rumbling in your chest, but it seems you may have overdone it as they're too afraid to speak. Impatiently you look at them with hostile intent till they stumble over each other to answer."Ah, we... have no ruler... your-""-eminence.""Y-Yes, your eminence. We simply serve the landlord."Eminence. You like that."There had once been a baron many years ago, but he vanished in the upper forests along with his castle... your eminence."Hmm, why does that sound familiar... you continue to look to each of the humans as they give stammer to offer up their answers to you."N-Now we pay tribute to the Duke of Seward... these aren't his lands truly, but the duchy keeps things running and defends the land from... enemies, your eminence."Bah, such complicated politics of these lesser beings. It's so tiresome and aggravating, they'd do so much better with a dragon to pay tribute to... or even a dragon queen to rule them."If you want me to leave that much I could consider it, if you remove a certain spider nest for me... that, or I could just eat you all.">If you like you can try to convince them, with a roll. Otherwise you can simply rely on threats and fear, and see which of them remain to do your bidding.
>>3642671Also I'm going to duck out for a little while to get dinner but we'll continue here when I return. Another thing, if you want to actually keep the items they offer up to you, you can make a separate roll as well for what items there actually are.

As payment for their lives perhaps. You also make your ultimatum to them, and when they realize you aren't just speaking rhetorically, they show their submission."Y-Yes your eminence!""Whatever you say!""So you'll be giving back the farm?"This is pleasing to you. Maybe it would be more fun to have just burned them all alive and left a smoking ruin in your wake, to prove your dominance through might. But there's something rewarding you find about them admitting your dominance, in a way that a charred corpse cannot."I can be kind, as I can be cruel. Do this service and you shall see benevolence instead of death."It seems you're able to convince most of them into helping you, if not serving you. Not all of them, and not all of them you'd want to it seems; a few are just some local farmers who'd showed up to witness what they expected to be a dragon slaying. Those you can dismiss since they're of no use to you. But the remainder, the knight, the wizard, the local sheriff, and a wandering bard, you can press into temporary alliance for one reason or another. Some out of fear, some out of respect, or even promise of reward."I want others, like yourselves. Capable humans-""-actually I'm an elf- uagh!" the wizard speaks up to correct you, for which you smack him off his feet with your tail."...those capable of combating spiders. Giant spiders."You give your decree though they look nervously to each other."Ah... your eminence, we're... about the best the landlord has to offer. If you want others, you... or, we would have to go to town.""Also, the high forests, that's orc territory. The brutes have an encampment up there, it won't be easy to travel through the area."While they have been forced into service for the time being, and are willing to do your bidding or lead you where you want, there is a bit of a difficulty in the way of collecting potential others like them. You wonder if you could complete the task with just these humans, but the alternative would be... well, in some way or other, risking approach and exposure to more people.>What do you do?
>>3642893You will have to do then, and about those orcs, no need to fear, if they opose me they'll burnI think with these guys plus ourselves we can take the spider. While we are going there discretely ask the wizard to explain us the usefulness of the items
>>3642966>>3642955>>3642948>>3642941Well you had considered taking your chances with the spider before, so even just this little extra help should be enough right? There's talk of orcs as well but you can't imagine them to be worse than a giant spider. So then after making preparations you can depart. The humans had wanted to go to town to get some but you're smarter than that, to let them out of your sight. You've a ripe farmstead here so tell them to take what they need from here. Something they don't seem to happy about, some of them, but if it means getting you out then they're willing to follow through with it. So! After ransacking the farm a little bit, the rather odd little group follows the road from the farm towards the forested highlands of the valley."Well I don't know their names, some items have names but this one... ah, it purifies water-""Bah, I have no need of that!""...c-can I have it?"Along the way with the knight at the head of the strange procession, you tell the wizard to assess what he can of the magic items. Some are completely worthless to you, and some are simply the wrong size for you to use. But some might appeal to you. Dragons are such naturally magical creatures that magic itself doesn't work on them, nor can they use magic themselves. But magic items are totally fine to make use of, if you know how;>A water skin which duplicates whatever liquid is stored inside to limitless potential>A small lens which can allow for clear vision up to many miles away>An amulet of warning which vibrates when ill-intent towards the wearer is detected>A flask of vanishing oil which renders something coated in it invisible for a time>An acorn which if eaten will cure any poison, disease, curse or otherwise ailmentNone of these things are fantastically wonderful, compared to the things mother had in her treasure lair they're not even worth notice. But for things collected from just an assortment of humans, it's not a bad start.>Go ahead and make a roll for your travel up to and through the forest, and on to the castle.

>>3643092>>3643088>>3643075>>3643074>78Well it wasn't actually the wizard asking for the rock but you can give it away anyway. Normally you'd never give anything away, mother never did. But you don't yet have a lair you can deposit treasure nor something like a bag to carry it in, so it could hardly be considered a loss if you were just going to discard it. In any case the lot of you can reach the forests by about midday, and begin the difficult trek through the wooded highlands on towards the castle. For the rest of the day things are fine, you encounter no trouble and are even able to help hunt a boar that the the group will be dining upon come dinnertime. As night settles in though, you start to get deep enough into the forest where there's signs of spiders and gradually increasing amounts of webs. "...I'd prefer if we camped for the night.""No, either we go deeper or go back but we're not far enough where the orcs wouldn't attack us."Your wish of course is to just push onward as much as you can, not stopping till you reach the castle and engage in the fight to reclaim it. However, some of the group doesn't want to be venturing into spider-infested forest at night, and so would want to camp till morning and continue in the day. Others though, express concern about the orcs if you should camp since you're within the range of their territory.Of course, naturally your decision will be the deciding factor.>What do you do?
>>3643143Let's camp and rest, obviously not because we are afraid of the spiders at night, no way
>>3643143So we are in range of the Orc's territory while in Spider territory? Is it possible that the orcs have figured out some way to deal with the spiders? Do the peons have any ideas? If not I would say to camp and rest, but make sure to gather extra fire wood to keep a fire lit. The spiders don't seem to like fires.
>>3643161They don't know about the orcs in regards to the spiders. In fact, none of the group were even aware that giant spiders lurked up here (or existed), they were just following and listening to you because of your dominance over them. But seeing the webs everywhere, now they're starting to believe the old stories... though they still don't actually believe there's a castle somewhere up here, lost to the forest and time.

Rolled 1 (1d2)Coin toss for fire since it seems an even split for preference.
>>3643266>>3643228>>3643175>>3643161>>3643152Camping for the night seems like a good idea. You wonder if the amulet will work while asleep, well only one way to find out. There's also some discussion about the fire, which you make the decision to keep it lit; for one thing before going to sleep you're not just going to all be sitting in the dark together, but for another thing you'd rather keep the spiders away than the orcs.So you find a relaxing position to recline in while the others busy themselves with gathering things for the camp, and you can breathe to start a fire. After that, it's a pleasant enough evening together, enough to take your minds off the spooky surroundings. You can tell after awhile that the others are measured in their enjoyment, more than anything they're still nervous towards you and not wanting to offend or upset you with anything. But there's still some fun to be had, between chowing down on the boar and them swapping stories, and the bard playing her music and singing her songs. The most enjoyment is probably yours, observing them quietly and learning about the lesser beings from up close and personal experience."What is that noise?""What noi- the music? It's music.""And where did you see a three-legged dove?""I-I didn't, I heard it from someone else. It's just a song."Interesting, you'd never really heard music or songs before. Noise that isn't random, and stories to go along with it in the same tune. It's enjoyable enough that you don't roast the bard for annoying you. Another thing you learn as well, these humans have males and females as well... you can't really tell the difference, just that apparently most of them are males and the bard isn't. Does she lay eggs? What do human eggs look like? What do they taste like?Things to ponder, while you eventually drift off to sleep.---"...mmmhh?"Who knows when, later, but you're awakened by some suspicious sounds. You decide not to jolt awake yet, just keep your eyes mostly closed while pretending to be asleep, and look around. By the look of things, the sheriff who was on watch has fallen asleep. Which would explain the presence of others... little humanoid things, quite small and greenish in color. Several of them, probably about five that you can notice, sneaking around the periphery of the camp and seeming to investigate what they can, probe for what they can steal as you see one lifting away the bard's shoes left beside her.Interestingly, the amulet you notice doesn't start to vibrate until a goblin you hadn't noticed actually takes action specifically against you; cautiously, slowly, trying to pry free one of the scales on your tail with a small knife.>What do you do?
>>3643332eat the fucker!he is goat sized, nice breakfastand not we like music! good thing we have a minion for thatkill the little thieves with claw and teeth, how dare them steal from us?
>>3643359Having pretended to be asleep, it's easy enough for you to suddenly bring your tail up and slam it down on the little creature, crushing it with a shriek. Screams from the others as your servants awaken with a start and scramble to defend themselves. While you're crunching the impish little thing between your teeth though, there isn't much a fight as the others just get scared off for the most part. "Damn goblins, lucky they didn't try to kill any of us.""Goblin? Is that what they are?"Some other lesser race, and they don't taste too good either. Well in any case, this time you can keep watch since you're probably not going to get back to sleep. You just watch and wait till morning, a couple more times seeing goblins in the dark forest just waiting for you to go to sleep but you never do, and come the light they're gone. You just wait impatiently then while the humans prepare to go, and you're off together once more, venturing into the deepest parts of the forest. Perhaps they were right to wait till daytime because you encounter hardly any spiders and though the humans are very scared by them at first, the oversized arachnids don't pose much a threat against the group so you all can kill the few foolish enough to attack. Till finally, once again you find the river and follow it the way till you see the castle through the forest in the near distance."Oh... so the old stories were true?""Well who would ever come up here anyway? People hardly even bother to trade with the dwarves anymore."A small temporary camp is made, as the humans consider what they have to work with and plan some sort of strategy. Lesser beings and their planning, always their planning. How many similar adventurers came trying to slay or steal from mother? You lost count, over the years, and their plans never made a difference. Since you told them of a giant spider bigger than you though, after having come all this way and seeing everything you said so far to be true... now they're a little worried about how to actually fight a giant spider...>What do you do?

>>3643976>>3643964>>3643924>>3643922>>3643507>60You observe these humans and their planning, scheming for the sake of victory. Your victory of course, they think they're doing a service to the land. No service that doesn't benefit you of course. In the end though, it seems like a decent method to follow and together you should manage to be stronger than on your own. "Alright then, sounds good to me!""Let's kill some giant spiders!"---
---"AHHH! I'M BEING KILLED BY GIANT SPIDERS!"Well it's a good thing you brought some help, to say the least. Following after the odd assembled group, the lot of you once more enter into the castle courtyard and keep eyes out amid the eerie silence. After disturbing enough webs though, before long a familiar face emerges from the keep, many long legs dragging the grotesque form. The humans of course panic at the sight, but with you behind them and ready to burn them alive, they don't have much a chance to retreat. The first to act then is the wizard who casts a blinding spell, causing the monster to shriek aimlessly charge for him, and by her size she's too large to avoid so suddenly so the wizard is crushed against the interior walls. Now that the enemy is close, the rest of you make your attack on the spider but her injured cries summon many of her young. As the farthest apart and trying to attack the rear, the sheriff gets overwhelmed by many smaller (though still giant) spiders. Meanwhile the spider can catch the knight from feeling attacks by his sword, and attempts to bite him after picking him up. It takes three times though for her to penetrate his armor and she ends up breaking either her fangs or her jaw in the process. Unfortunate for the knight, discarded to die to the venom but perfect for you since the only thing the spider had to harm you, has been disabled. After that it's just a matter of time till your clawing and biting harms the spider enough to bring her down, particularly biting and shaking at her legs so that she can't even support her own body. You might have fared badly on your own, but again after her maw being disabled by the knight she simply can't fight back against you in any way as you harm you.Panting for breath then, your mouth dripping with rancid blue spider blood, the monster finally lays dying. To show your dominance, you stand up against the fallen horror and give a mighty draconic roar skyward that echoes about the castle and carries through the surrounding forest. At this the many other spiders finally retreat, and you can remove the surest sign of their taint by igniting the great grotesque mother herself, the carcass of the giant spider writhing and contorting inward against the flames... but eventually nothing more than crackling, sputtering and hissing as it burns."Victory! Of course it is victory... and something you can make music about!"Your rage from the fight subsides as you catch your breath once more, settle down. A wide-fanged grin to the bard, the only survivor of your group. She appears too traumatized from all that transpired to respond much though, shaking and feebly trying to load her crossbow out of habit rather than thought, despite the combat having more or less concluded. Well no matter, if she is the only survivor you could just eat her and be done with it all. Something to consider, as you look over your new castle.
Lot of webs though... might need some cleaning up here and there...>What do you do?
>>3644706Give her some time, she has a song to write about our victory, while she recovers we can start cleaning these webs with controled fire, maybe see if the spider left any eggs, eggs should be good, if they are not just burn them

You keep the bard close because while you've killed the spider queen herself, there's still plenty of giant spiders skittering about the area and you wouldn't want the bard to get killed just because you left her behind... probably some time before you can kill all the remaining spiders, or they get the idea to move on from this land.Same thing with the webs, you can clear out the worst parts, but if your goal is to avoid fire (and thus burning down place down) then you'll probably end up needing some servants to clear the place. Since of course, you wouldn't demean yourself to such tasks.

>>3644909>>3644988>>3644993>>3645068>83While searching through the castle then, you uncover various interesting things, somewhat like exploring that farmhouse. Lots of items, decorations, belongings and whatnot of human make and high quality; the castle is well and fully furnished and since none of these things are of any interest to spiders, a little cleaning up and they'd mostly be in excellent condition. Not that these things are of particular value to you either beyond making the place look nicer, though the bard... having had a chance to recollect herself after the fight, reacts quite amazed at the things you find and according to her they're valuable. You'd prefer plain treasure but maybe these things could fetch a price if you cared to part with them? The best thing you find though to your personal preference, is a nice little crown on a long dead and web-covered skeleton in a fancy chair. You're not that familiar with clothes of lesser races, but crowns you do know about, some having been in mother's lair. Your dominance of the castle is obvious, but picking up the crown with a claw and setting it on your head feels right... and you're even small enough in size where it's not such a terrible fit! Though, your horns don't help. In any case, you imagine obtaining other servants. You could release the bard but she could make a good first one. Same as others, though you don't imagine to part with even a single coin if you had such. Why bother paying for servants when you can just take them? Sure as you convinced those dead humans to serve you, you could do the same with others. Or even just go down to where they live and physically kidnap them. If a measure of draconic success is royalty of lesser races kidnapped, then what's some commoners to you? Not like they could stop you, anyway.>What do you do?

>>3645184Mother had a host of servants, from willing ones like worshiping cultists, to intimidated ones like those who brought tribute, or even forced ones like slaves. Keeping herself fed was the bigger issue, but the amount of tribute she received was enough food for all to go around. As for contentedness, at most mother only ever had servants for which it didn't really matter if they were content and she didn't care. Subjects is something different, for which it would make sense to care if they were content, but mother never tried her hand at ruling anyone or anything. At least not in your life. Rulership, was more Illyrie's interest, but that doesn't mean you couldn't try yourself if you wanted. It's just a choice, if you want to be a tyrant or a queen, when it comes to dominance.
>>3645174>>3645178>>3645184>>3645191>>3645192>>3645215>38"So, tell me my little bard..." having found the courtly room and surveying your new domain from the windows, you wrap your tail around the bard and drag her to your side, "...have you already a song in mind? A song about my victory!" Your fanged grin and hungry gaze startle her, as she stammers a reply. You've spent time with these humans now, to know the smell of fear on her. Not that you intend to scare her though, but it does remind you of your majesty and dominance. Hopefully in time she can become used to your presence, if you are to keep her."A-A-Ahh... w-well your... y-your eminence, I was th-thinking of something, yes! I call it, the Dragon Caught in the Spider's Web!""...well? Go on!"With a gulp from not expecting to have to actually play anything, shakily the bard strums out a tune and tries her best to feebly sing some words past a throat choked by fear. Sadly she's not the wittiest musician around so the song isn't great, pretty bad in fact... but considering your complete lack of experience in things musical, you couldn't tell the difference."Delightful! Now, let us find a place to rest while you tell me, where I could find some servants to clean my new home?"You drag her along with you while she stutters something about one of the settlements bordering the forest or farther down the valley. Of course she couldn't imagine that one of your considered options is to just fly down there and snatch people up to kidnap here. On the other hand maybe it would be better, or easier to use the bard to gather you help? Either dressing her up in some of these fancy human clothes and acting as your herald, or perhaps having her to con people into coming with her up here?Who knows, things to consider as you explore the place some more and find what you assume to be the main bedchamber... that is, has the biggest and comfiest bed. You have the bard clear off the webs while you explore the room some and find what she calls a "fireplace" which you light, then fwump down on the fantastically comfortable bed."Aaahhh... so much better than that farmer's bed!""Sh-Should I...""Rub my wings! They are still a little sore after flying all day... two days passed now. Then you can sleep there, on the floor. Best not to leave, there could still be spiders around.""Y-Yes your eminence."Defeated, dominated, the bard clamors onto the bed and tries to find a position without sitting on you where she can rub your wings on command. A chance for you to relax after the fight, and consider your options now that she's told you some possibilities.>What do you do?

>>3645350>>3645360>>3645496>>3645532>>3645551Laying on the bed getting your wings massaged, this is a lot nicer than you expected. You can see now why mother always had servants to do the same for her, though because of her size she had many more to do it. But with your own castle now to show for your efforts, you're feeling quite accomplished, and deserving of such treatment. Why shouldn't you be right to rule, when your might is obvious? And at your young size no less, just imagine what it could be like if you grow bigger."Is that your name, Bard?""Ah, no your eminence.""I do not think you ever gave me your name then, what is it?""Lila... is my first name."It takes some explaining to you that some of the lesser races have two names or more, sometimes. In her case, one name for herself and one to show what family she comes from. It all seems terribly complex and foolish to you, when you only have one name. However to be fair, it seems human names at least are quite short and so even though she has two names they are still shorter together than your full name."Lila... what is it like to be a lesser... a non-dragon?""Ah... forgive me for saying, but are we so different? I thought dragons were giant mons- well, very big and did things differently. You aren't very much bigger than I am, you talk like people do, and right now you're in a bed in a home. I can't fly or breathe fire, but..."The sheer insult! You want to incinerate her this instant for even suggesting such a thing! That is... if she wasn't massaging your wings. But for her to suggest that the two of you could be at all similar, is a revoltingly offensive thought. Why, you couldn't be more different! Though... she might not be... entirely, completely wrong. For as superior, glorious, majestic, grand, beautiful a creature as you are compared to these lowly worms, you have been consorting with them as of late. Not to mention living as they live and benefiting from their efforts and works. Sure, you fancy yourself as their ruler. But a queen, for which there are human queens.Well, it's all nonsense you're sure. You're a dragon, you're superior, and that's that. Who is anyone but your own kind to judge you, and you see no other dragons around here. ---
---After simmering at Lila's suggestion but tempered with a nice wing massage, you take a nap for awhile then in your new bed, fairly tired after that fight. When you awaken, you can look out the window and guess it to be afternoon, so just a few hours asleep but you feel much better for it. Especially your wings! Caring not to wake the human sleeping on the floor for now then, you try to climb out of bed and leave the room without making so much noise or knocking things over. You can find your way to the courtyard again, noticing the dead humans you'd recruited scattered about. Doing something about the bodies seems like a good idea but while you're doing so you notice beyond the gatehouse some figures."Hmm... green-ish humans? Bigger too."If you had to guess, perhaps those orcs that live in the forest? Because you see goblins with them. It looks like about ten of them plus as many goblins, and they're all armed but seem hesitant about actually entering the castle.>What do you do?

Seeing you running towards them and spitting up flames, they all stumble over each other to try and flee. You manage to catch the unlucky fool who had been at the back though, pinning him to the ground and spewing flames at the rest as they retreat. The one you caught yells something after his comrades in another language, but they only stop for a moment to yell back before disappearing into the trees from whence they came. Well you caught yourself... you think it's an orc. You're prepared to just bite his head to kill him, and have yourself a hearty lunch. Seeing the other orcs though, maybe it would be best to hang his body up for any to see? As a warning. As he struggles beneath you though, you hear some panicked muttering."Knew the goblins were right... a damn dragon!""...you know the common language? What is your purpose here, speak quickly."Well if dragons have their own language then maybe orcs do as well, but you know more than one language so why shouldn't others? You just hadn't expected the orc to speak it, but keeping him pinned to the ground you demand an answer."Uh, what? Can talk? We saw the crawlers leaving around here... wanted to see what caused it. Figure maybe the big spider up and died... look like a dragon done and kill her."It seems then that they weren't even aware of you at all, they just noticed that spiders through the forest were withdrawing (probably through the orc's territory) so came to check on the obvious source, having killed some more spiders on the way that you saw them with. Not an offering or even hostility though, they were simply investigating when you happened to notice them. Well that's a bit of a letdown. Neither positive nor really negative, just a natural occurrence of some folks checking on their neighbors... whom they probably were at odds with. With that in mind, do you still have any use for the orc then, or just be done with it? Not like he has any greater message or offering to give you.>What do you do?

In exchange I will allow your kind to continue to live in my domain. Should your kind fail to do so... well let us just say I do not enjoy the taste of spider all that much."This is your first attempt at negotiation. In truth you don't really care for these orcs all that much, in fact supposing you were to be able to exert your will over this valley and claim rulership, you feel like you'd want the forest empty and all to yourself while your subjects live beyond it. Having your own forest all to yourself, a nice little jab at the gods and a sure statement to lesser beings of your supremacy here. For the time being though, if you want to someday end up like mother then tribute is the easiest way to that so this is a chance to work something out along those lines. And then later when you grow tired of the arrangement, you can just kill them all as planned."Do you understand little one?" you try to fiercely look him in the eye but seem to notice only confusion."What's tribute?"Great, you caught yourself a stupid one. Well, what sort of tribute are you wanting from them by the month... you said, the month.>???

>>3646143>>3646146>>3646154>>3646162The urge to clamp down is strong as your patience wears thin! But you spell it out for the orc who affirms that he understands the deal then, so you step off him and let him stumble to his feet and awkwardly thank you for sparing his life before running off then. You've no idea what will actually become of him and the others, but it's worth a try you suppose. Again, if it works you've got a source of tribute. If it doesn't, then you can just go and kill them.In the meantime, you return inside the castle then, and decide not to let the bodies go to waste. You start with the knight, answering a curiosity you'd had since first meeting him about the metal armor. Dragging the body and propping it up against a corner, you breathe in deep and spew fire at the corpse. Only for some seconds but a consistent stream, when you let off and the flames clear, as you'd suspected the body isn't all that burned. It seems you can't yet just reduce an armored knight to ashes in one breath, and that a metal shield can "block" your flames in as far as dispersing the heat and not catching fire. You can't imagine there's a whole lot of knights around for you to worry about, but it's something to keep mind of until you're older and bigger, like mother capable of melting even stone with her breath.Spending a long while trying to understand the armor then as much as you need to in order to take it off, you make a decent lunch of a portion of the knight, chomping on his body till you're full. There's still enough left of him for another meal or so, and with the other bodies that could be food for another day or so before you need something new to eat. Less if you consider Lila, another mouth to feed though considerably less."So that's what a knight tastes like..."In any case, you run your tongue along your mouth several times to clean off the blood, as you look around and marvel at your own castle. It's also only mid afternoon you think as well, so still a good few hours till nightfall.>What do you do now? You'd had the idea of seeking out servants, as well as possibly laying claim to the nearest town. But when you actually go about doing that is your call. For now, it's not like there's any more dangers left to you and your new home. At least not, it seems, when even the orc neighbors weren't aware of your presence here.

Rolled 31 (1d100)>>3646310>>3646303>>3646302Rolling for how competent Lila is...
>>3646410poor girl, she really isn't
>>3646422well, to be fair we are very distracting with our greatness.
>>3646431Hopefully when she gets used to our presence she will stop rolling and just be competent on what she does for a living.
>>3646410>>3646310>>3646303>>3646302>71, 31"Bar- Lila, wake.""Bwah! Webs, legs everywhere! Wh-Whuat?"Returning to master bedroom up in the castle again, you nudge against Lila with your head till she fitfully struggles awake from some bad dream perhaps."Dress yourself in the nicest clothes you can find here, I want you to speak for me in town.""A-Alright... I'll do my best."She's still out of sorts from being woken up in such a way, but your insistence gets her to her feet and looking around the rooms here for fancy clothes. There's some tangling with webs here and there, and for some reason she doesn't want you looking at her when changing clothes, but eventually she has on a fancy ball gown and other clothes that you can tell she finds awkward to wear."...d-does it look good?""I do not understand the way you humans dress at all, so it will have to do. Come now."---
Rolled 59 (1d100)---You might not have thought this plan through so well because Lila has to walk some miles through the forest dressed like she is. You'd have flown her instead but after stuffing yourself trying to eat the whole night, your distended belly weighs you down too much to fly not to mention that after awhile Lila ends up being the faster of the two of you as you have to drag yourself along. Eventually though when it seems like you might get lost in the forest when it gets dark, not too much farther and you can start to see signs of habitation as the forest thins out."I'm... not so sure about this...""Go, now! And make sure you sing! How mighty and glorious I am!"With that in mind then, you find a spot on the edge of town you can wait and watch as your herald awkwardly makes her way into town dressed like royalty (after you force her onward by pushing with your head). You can only watch from afar, not hear that well but she seems to draw attention enough on her approach and finding an elevated area to speak from in a square. It doesn't look like it takes long though before her attention-grabbing is met with... a less positive response. You're not too familiar with humans but you recognize laughter when you see it, they're not supposed to be laughing! That seems as good as any a chance to make yourself known, make sure you're not thought of as a joke."Get off the stage!""You look like a city whore!""Please, please! I'm not making this up!" the closer you get you can hear, Lila desperately trying to convince people of what she says. Well, she did her job at least of gathering many people. "It's a real, a real-""A real dragon!"When you get close enough, some people start to notice you, confusion and some panic, but when you actually rush up onto the higher stone speaking area there's none who could miss you now as you spread your wings and rear up on your hind legs some for an impressive display. Accompanied by a little burst of fire in the air, not more than a sneeze for you but how would they ever know? Lila cowers at first expecting you to eat her for a poor job, but when she sees you're more busy showing off to the crowd, she too strikes a pose with her hands extended as to present you on display.>Rolling for crowd reception!
Rolled 21 (1d100)>>3646718> strike an awe-inspiring pose.
>>3646738GOD! what are these rolls!
>>3646718>59"...that's a dragon?""A course it is, lookit breathing fire!""Eh nah my cousin, he seen guys from the big city, they breathe fire.""Ok it's a dragon but... I mean look it's small."There's a good hundred or more people gathered at least but their response is... well, you wanted them all to be bowing down but you expected them all to run screaming... but this is a bit disappointing. For sure there's an initial alarm, fear, awe, interest, a wide range of emotions among the gathered people at the sight of such a creature. But after a minute or two of witnessing you, they seem more intent on bickering among themselves about what they're seeing. Probably because you didn't just swoop in and start burning their homes."So what'dya want? Is this a show?"They also speak to Lila rather than you since... well that seems to weird for them apparently. They think the bard doing her little song and dance to gather people around, and then some magical beast showing up, at prime time of the evening when people are off work and either going out for the night or headed home... they seem to think it's some sort of entertainment show and start chucking coins up on the stone area.>What do you do?
>>3646743Well, the coins are a nice first tribute! The spider mother is dead and I rule the castle nearby, who is your so called leader? I'm here to replace him.Tell Lila to gather servants to clean our castle now that the spider mother died.
>>3646743we can work with this, carefully make your way over to the stage and explain "we are quite serious the forest castle has been cleared of the giant spider queen and you have already secured the orcs as a tributary. over the coming days, they will find that the giant spiders will be gone from the forest. you are here to take control of the local government as you now own the castle meaning I own the valley." tilt head to show off our wonderful crown.
>>3646743[i'm trying to get a mental image of our size just how big are we?]
>>3646787Bit smaller than a horse. Obviously your wings add a lot to your profile.
>>3646847oh my god, I love this fact.
>>3646765>>3646779As much as they're confused at you, you're confused at them. For all your infinite dragon wisdom you wouldn't expect to be dumbfounded by some peasants, but the situation is so odd that you're not sure how to act at first. Probably all to do with your size and behavior, again if you were bigger and smashed into town breathing fire, they would respect you or fear you. As you are though, there's some doubt that you're a dragon at all and overall they think you're some trained animal curiosity that belongs to Lila trying to show off for entertainment and money.Well, that will simply not do!"We are quite serious, the castle in the forest has been cleared of the giant spider.""Ha! I told you there were giant spiders in the forest, I KNEW it! You owe me a silver!"Apart from a rumormonger, it seems people weren't even aware of any spiders beyond old stories, much less a castle."What castle? The dwarf town?""It said in the forest, it's obviously not the dwarves."As much as you'd like to ignite all of them, you know that would just make things worse... though, what does that say if these dullards are your future subjects? Even so, your patience wears thin."Ugh, who is your ruler? I want to see your ruler.""Huh? The Lord Mayor?""Someone get the- oh, Laura already went?"Well you know they don't have a king, anything like that since you learned from the late knight and late wizard you had to help you fight the spider. But it seems they do have a leader, so you can mind your anger some short time more. And all the while, Lila is at a loss for words, practically cowering and expecting you to explode in fiery rage at the impudence of these peasants. She knows, of course. That's why she serves you, she knows better.---"Wait, it can talk?""Ah, yes Sir. Someone said a barking iguana, from the tropics, something they can do.""Well ma'am, I am the Lord Mayor and I must say your... creature is most delightful, I'm sure everyone will agree!"Murmurs of agreement and amusement among the crowd, as a refined and mannered older gent speaks for the crowd to Lila while observing you with curiosity. So this is their ruler."How long will you be staying in our fair town, would you like a street permit for your animal show? Or will you be taking it to the theater?"Though he exercises visibly more caution towards you like he knows you could be dangerous, it seems his advisors did him a disservice by feeding him rumors spreading through the crowd, before he even arrived on the scene.>What do you do?
>>3646975With failing calmness explain that you are in fact a dragon your name is Riona. With the help of this bard Lila and some others, we slew the giant spider queen of the castle, drove out the arachnids from the forest, have made the orcs tributaries to yourself, and finally have come to this town to calm it for your ever-expanding realm. As you are by the right of conquering the castle having the crown of the long-dead former leader.
>>3646999>>3646975This, bonus points if we have heavy smoke coming out of our nostrils and mouth and our eyes glowed like a dying star.Because dumb fuck civie monkeys got one more chance before we end motherfuckers HARD.
>>3647006just realized that we should thank the gossipmonger for being the only person in town to know about the very real and very deadly spider monsters.
>>3647011Yes, he shall live for now. As a matter of fact let's say that he was right and that he should get the fuck out if he wants to keep his ass unfried.
>>3647015yeah, I'm close to agreeing with you on frying these guys.
>>3646975A heads up that this will probably be my last post of the night, but I think it's a neat place to stop so more players have the chance till we resume tomorrow to give their input for how to proceed here at this important point. In the meantime, thanks all for playing! And by next time can answer any questions or confusion you might have about anything.
>>3647021have a good night QM thanks for running.
>>3646999I think we will end up bur ing the mayor
>>3647021OP you still alive?
>>3648445I am, start time is not usually till about an hour still.
>>3648475ah gotcha until 5 then
>>3646999>>3647006You want to give them your short common name? You must really be angry! Well you can make your claim at them in a fierce manner and notice a degree of more seriousness towards you."A-ha... is this part of your act still, bard? I don't see the entertainment of it.""No, it's serious, she's... deadly serious."It seems things have gone from amusement to awkwardness, as the mayor tries to reevaluate the situation. You could sense the initial fear in him when you glared at him, but that's subsided now to the usual human scheming, you can tell as his mind works away at this."A dragon then, not an iguana... I suppose those are real wings? Well, forgive the... lack of decorum, there hasn't been a dragon in these parts in living memory. As our... visiting guest, if you have matters to discuss I'm sure it would be better suited for some privacy?"You can't tell exactly how serious he takes you, but enough at least that he suggests moving this conversation elsewhere. Anywhere that isn't just in front of a gathering crowd of curious people. You could see some merit in his words, as Lila panics in her attempt to shoo tiny humans away from touching you and pulling on your tail. If this matter could be handled delicately it wouldn't be done so in public as it were. Then again, maybe you want an audience to your demands and your claim of power? You can't hold as... detailed a conversation just out in the open on the street, but whatever is said is heard by all. Assuming, you have any interest in a conversation, or negotiation with this human ruler.>What do you do?
>>3648585>agree with him "yes, we do have things to discuss lead on."
>>3648585Well sureKeep the bard around fornthe negotiation, there may be human things we are not familiar with since they are so insignificant.Demand gold, food montly and some servants to clean the castle, that should suffice for now.And when I say food I mean goats!...mhh..goats...
>>3648684smart plays right here I agree
Rolled 89 (1d100)>>3648684>>3648598>>3648689Rolling for the mayor!
>>3648700>89well if he is going to trap us I think he just succeed
>>3648700>89You didn't get the red carpet when you first showed up, but maybe that's a sign of how you did... or maybe there's something wrong with your bard. Is she not as capable as you thought perhaps?"Oh, you do not have to-""Hey! Nevermind her, you have to finish the tankard first!"You sure get the red carpet now though, as you find yourself sat in an overly-cushioned booth pulled aside specifically for you in the town drinking hall. Seems the mayor cleared the place out for you, the guest of honor, and you're privy to quite the reception. A band up on stage for your entertainment, and a number of humans doting on you and showering you with attention and praise. You'd expected to make your demands to the mayor in what you thought was his home, but now you awkwardly find yourself with an elf rubbing down your tail with some oil good for the scales apparently, a human seeing to your hand resting on a table (specifically your claws and cleaning them), a second human sitting on your lap and feeding you and offering you something they call "drinks", and a third human leaning against your back and trying to adorn your head and shoulders with different decorations and articles of fancy clothing. And of course, all the while singing your praises."I love your color red! This oil will really bring it out in your skin- err, scales!""Have you ever kidnapped a princess before?""Such big claws! I bet you could kill any monster with these, I'd love to see your teeth!"And Lila just sits in a nearby chair nursing a drink nervously, just glad to see you're not burning people. To be fair you're a little baffled how you ended up in this situation, you'd have never permitted it normally but overtime while waiting for the mayor to prepare for the talks, one after the other you kept getting offers of attention till now you find yourself waited on hand and foot by adoring humans. It's awkward to say the least, you feel awkward... feel wrong with the situation, but if you were to refuse it all it feels like you should have done before rather than now."See if you can down the whole thing in one gulp! Oh, and wait till you try the roast, chef specialty!""Ah, give her a chance girls! We have to get something done tonight, after all!" the mayor had a table and some papers brought to the side while some assistants stand nearby to oversee. Finally though he seems ready and seated to discuss things with you... though he doesn't urge the humans attending you to stop all that seriously. "So then, Miss Riona... am I right to call you that? What were your designs towards our humble town? It's not every day we have such an illustrious guest!">What do you do?
>>3648856Take a moment to compose yourself, we want to be calm and clear with the mayor. what do we want out of this town? well, we need servants to help us upkeep the castle, we also what a small monthly tribute to grow our hoard, finally we can them to recognize our legitimacy a ruler over this town.thoughts?
>>3648856WellAfter recently departing from my mothers lair I graciously decided to take the nearby castle as my own, as your town is locaded in my domain I will gladly accept your tribute in gold and goats, as well as some servants to keep the castle clean.A little bit down on the tail dear, near the tip, yup, right there. Now this is how you treat a dragon! Pampered and waited on!

And by cheesy I mean a dragon.>>3648983>>3648978>>3648957>>3648945>>3648942>71, 89Maybe not as tipsy as you could be, but you have drunk an awful lot you realize now, that human doing her job well of tipping mugs in your mouth constantly. Not that you despise it, these humans make a charming drink compared to just water. But maybe now was not the best time... thankfully you have Lila there for you!"Well... ahah, after recent some leaveparting from mom's lair... ahah you see should how gotten she's fat!" you laugh to yourself remembering mother and getting lost in thought till you come to notice the mayor staring intently at you, and you try to recall the conversation, "Spiders! I uh... kill some spider! Other some too but no more, so sad! So no spider more any, my town... my land now! Give presents, and I yeauhhhh... I want my clean house!""...what she means is," Lila speaks up as you laugh yourself giddy and try to feel around for your crown on your head but instead receive a hug and stroking along your horns from the human on your back, "she wants tribute, she claims this town as her own. Monthly taxes, food... probably just goats, and some servants to clean the castle... it's a mess, there's a lot of webs."Counting off on her fingers and trying not to miss anything, Lila tries her best but the mayor is more controlling in the negotiations."Come now, let Miss Riona speak for herself! A mighty dragon doesn't need an interpreter!""-mmmmyeah! What I said Lila! Big dragon, big gifts!"All things said though, it seems your demands aren't too far fetched for them. Some taxes, food is more than easy enough for them to supply as an agrarian land, and some volunteers to clean and possibly even fix up your castle. As long as you can make some assurances, then the mayor can have a contract drafted for you to sign... or Lila he offers, if you're too comfortable to bother with it, or more obviously your hands are too big nor are you used to writing. While you're on the topic, he also offers that they could make more official your rule. You already know humans have all sorts of annoying rules, laws, customs and all that nonsense... a lot of paperwork. But that's how humans operate, so going through with it would make them more amenable to your reign if you did so in respect to their customs and by way of their avenues. Also a slight concern of when you want all this done since they seem willing to host you as their guest for longer than just these dealings if you wish. But whether you want for example, a complement of servants at your castle tomorrow, or if you'd like to stay and survey your new town for some days or longer would be up to you.>What do you do?
>>3649079> you'd like to stay and survey your new town for some days or longerWe need to have them use to the idea of a dragon leader
>>3649079Well, we can deal with the annoying paperwork tomorrow, bring us that roast they mentioned and drink until we sleep, this is quite confortable.P.S. good thing Lila was around.
>>3649079burn the papers! that will be fun!we can stay until tomorrow, but then we better go back before the orcs rob everything on the castle
>>3649140> no bro we have worked hard to set this up.
>>3649140I agree in returning with the servants tomorrow, but don't need to burn the papers, its their tradition ans its not like they mean shit for a dragon
>>3649147>>3649174>>3649140>>3649109It all sounds good to you! Now enough of this boring negotiating, more food and drink! Lila appears disappointed, but what does she know? You're the infinitely wise dragon here not her, she's not even a decent bard at all you're starting to think so she wouldn't know a good deal if it bit her!For the rest of the evening then you can enjoy yourself as their guest of honor, listening to some actually decent bards for once and being served what they claim to be the best food and drink in the land. And of course all these dutiful, doting little humans to answer your whims and lavish you with comfort. Yes, this must be what it's like for mother, this is the life. Your siblings would have their own methods towards power in the outside world, like your brother to burn and kill all who might oppose him. But a charred corpse can't rub your tail, can't fix you up a feast, can't play music for you. Let your brothers and sisters do as they see fit; you'll follow the example of success, mother. You were always her favorite anyway."Enlyth? The Fall of Velnar? I thought those were just legends... wasn't that hundreds of years ago even? Well, I knew we were hosting magnificence, but I had no idea we were hosting such a lineage!""Ahaha! If mom instead here, you she like!"You're not in the best sorts obviously, as you further distend your scaly belly with all the food and drink they dish up for you. But the mayor sits opposite you also enjoying this little feast of sorts and keeping you company, humoring your talk and seeing that your needs are met. It's nice to be able to talk to someone with a brain for once, even if they are just a human. If you wanted to you could try for any particular topic on your mind. Otherwise you can just eat and drink and relax yourself into a stupor for the night, and proceed tomorrow.>What do you do?
>>3649268>just EAT and drink and relax yourself into a stupor for the night, and proceed tomorrow. I N D U L G E
>>3649268It's time to sleep, send them all away, if the bard was making a face its because something weird is happening, we brought her here preciselly because she knows how humans act better than us, after we send them away we finish our drinks and food and sleep, tomorrow we can discuss things better.Best not loose sight of what we are after.
>>3649417Agreed, we acted like mother enough, it's time to take a page from our sister.Keep the bard here and ask her impressions after the others left.
>>3649424>>3649417>>3649279>>3649448>>3649459Lila's reaction to all this was sobering in all senses of the word, and though you're enjoying yourself and not sure why there may be a problem, you trust her judgement. So with what little grace you can muster, you seek an end to the festivities for tonight. Of course the mayor and other humans try to convince to stay but your relatively polite insistence convinces them. "Very well then, we have a room for you already if you are to stay. I'll see you there myself."The mayor is ever accommodating, and thanks everyone for their effort and support, before he and some others guide you out of the drinking hall. You do your best to keep pace with them though, staggering drunkenly through the street but thankfully it isn't far, seems the lord mayor has cleared out his servant house for you. Still in town but a nicer place and more private than the local inn Lila assures you. With that then you can stumble through the door after her, and simply seek out the first bed big enough that you can find. "Oooph... not so feel good.""That's what happens when you eat too much."Having eaten the knight earlier today, and then stuffed yourself at the feast, your belly is too big to sleep on without pain so you end up sprawled out uncomfortably on your back on a pair of beds Lila drags together for you. Well, you have to get big and grow somehow, right? Mother didn't get to her size at her age, without stuffing herself constantly. If you were a roaming dragon and eating what you could hunt or find, you'd be expending just as much energy with your draconic body that you'd never grow any larger, or end up smaller even! You tell yourself, this was just a test run for when you have your castle all set up and you're queen of this land, and you can feast every night and grow in size in no time!"Mmmmurgh... what some think them... humans?""I think... it went better than if you'd just attacked and set fire to people. Maybe they'd... ah, nevermind. They probably don't want trouble so they'll do all this. But if it were a bigger town, or more warlike... I don't think they would just bend for you."Well you didn't think it was that small... this town is the largest settlement of any lesser race you've ever been to. You know of course there are grand cities with countless people and sprawling size, but... as proud and superior as you are, something like that seems a little beyond your reach, for now. A town like this though, Lila seems to think it's small but already it's overwhelming for you in terms of size and how many people there are... perhaps you'd need to expand your world view, after living in a cave your whole life till now.---"Your eminence? They are offering some things this morning, food, more attention and a... uh, a bath?"You wake from a long slumber the next day you assume, by Lila speaking softly about others outside.>What do you do?
>>3649521A bath and some food, but none of that drink they gave us last night, tell them we will be taking the servants today to clean out castle.
>>3649521Stay quiet and listen to their conversation the more we learn about the Lesser races the better
>>3649550>>3649551I recommended that we do what I suggested and would you suggested make sure to eat a hearty breakfast
>>3649521Lets go easy on the pampering today, tell Lila to read all those papers and give us the tl;dr
>>3649575Supporting this in addition to my own post
>>3649550>>3649561>>3649575>>3649583Getting spoiled rotten was fun, and you'd look forward to a life of it, but when it's the right time. For now you've still got many things to take care of and you don't want distractions......though a bath would be nice.---"You can just sign here, this will keep track of things so nobody forgets-""Why would I forget anything?""...as a reminder then, and so other people can know of the agreement.""Very well then, sign it Lila."They took some effort to find a wooden tub big enough for you, from a blacksmith in fact and they brought it over here to the yard of the servant house and filled it up with hot water. You try to make sure you're clean of course and have been in water before, but you can't recall ever getting a proper sort of "bath" that these lesser beings engage in. It's a nice experience as you lay in the tub resting your chin on the edge to see and hear what's going on with the dealings (the mayor has bench with the papers laid out), while some serving girls with their dresses rolled up wade about the tub and scrub you down with washcloths and some delightful creation called "soap". You get to be clean, and smell good, how lovely! Though, for as pleasant as it is... you can't help but notice the circumstances. All you'd need now is to wear some clothes, and you'd practically fit in with these humans like one of them, you're already dealing with them in such an immersed way."Very good, I'll have this sealed and be about your... ah, you called it tribute, right? A pleasure to have you, Miss Riona!"Visibly glad to have resolved this matter in such a peaceful and beneficial way, the mayor gathers up all the paperwork and hands them to his assistant as the two of them depart to make your desired arrangements."...what did they say Lila, the papers?""I can't read, I thought you knew!"Well that's a bit of a conundrum, neither you nor your servant can read. Well, how often are you going to need to do reading anyway? You continue to soak in the hot soapy waters for a time and be fed breakfast by a serving girl, but whenever you care to you can get up and go about your day. >What do you do? Obviously you'll be returning to the castle at some point with your demands, but have you any interest in being about the town, or just depart sooner than later?
>>3649687we need to discretely find someone that can read to work for us loyally and find out exactly those papers say. we should also get ourself acquainted with the town. then head home to the castle.
>>3649687Lets get going, if we don't like what the papers say we just burn the mayor and his papers, get the goats and the servants to travel...and maybe arrange for this tub to be delivered
>>3649699>>3649736Oh dear, see town or leave? Also we'll take a break for awhile then, might continue later but will let know if that's the case. Otherwise it will be tomorrow as usual. In the meantime you can figure out what your next plan is, now that you've more or less subjugated the nearest town after getting yourself a castle.Oh, and if you do decide to stay around town, if there's anything particular you want to check out (or ask Lila about to see) you can. If not, you'll just be on your way back to the castle.
>>3649743How about we see the town until noon and then depart?Ask Lila to show whatever interest things there are around
>>3649687before we leave tell the mayorThe stay was adequateand askwho would be in charge if I'm displeased with our dealing and decide to eat you in the future?
>>3649743well if this is goodnight then goodnight.
>>3649736Proper transport of goods won't really be possible until there's a road between the castle and the town. Which itself doesn't seem like a bad idea, for reaching influence beyond the town even. It will take some time though if you want it, to have a way through the forest cleared and then paved with stones.
>>3649736>>3649699>>3649753>>3649770>>3649783You can linger around a little then, familiarize yourself some with your new town and the people you own. Accompanied by Lila then in less fancy clothes, you proceed about the town and examine all that the humans have built and what there is to offer, quite curious and learning a good deal in the process about this lesser race. From what you witness, their lives don't seem all that complicated and they are easygoing and devoted to their tasks enough that ruling them seems like it would be easy enough. You do notice however that compared to last night, people now regard you with some caution and avoidance. Perhaps because the word is out now that you are in fact a dragon, just a young one, or perhaps instead people just don't feel comfortable with you walking the streets as commonly as any of them when last night you were merely showing off on a stage basically. Obviously quite different when you see such a creature walking the streets like any other citizen, but knowing of the stories of death and destruction wrought by dragon kind. "Ooh, look here I think you'll like this... well maybe just look inside only.""Be quick about it then, I do not want to wait for you."While going about town then, on one of the few, small market streets Lila notices an alchemist store which she thinks for some reason would be good. By the look of the place though filled up with shelves of bottles and fragile things, she advises against your entry since you are clumsy in small spaces, so you just stand outside and lean your head in to look around a little. While Lila quickly tries to look over what's available though, you catch someone else's attention."Don't leave the door ope- AGH! Dragon! Someone call the guards!"The owner of the store if you had to guess, an elven man dressed in normal enough clothes but covered in accessories dedicated to his craft, panics and dives behind the counter when he sees you. When you proceed to not burn down his store though, his caution quickly fades to immense interest."You're not... not hostile?""I can be.""My word, and you know the common language!" he rises from behind the counter and cautiously approaches you, not out of fear seemingly though, but out of not wanting to offend you, "Dear me, I've never encountered a dragon in person! Would you... say, would you be able to... chew something for me?""Why?""Dragon spit, worth it's weight in gold! Well, dragon anything really!"He rummages about behind a shelf and draws forth a sponge and a bucket. You're not sure how to think of that though, is he playing some sort of game with you? Why would he pay for your spit?>What do you do?
>>3650178>I'll do it but I want a cut of the profit split t 60 to 40 my favor do we have a deal? have Lila act as a witness
>>3650182If he is indeed serious, why not try to make an offer of it? Not as though you've dealt with shops or shopkeepers before but you do know a thing or two about haggling and value."Very well, but I want the majority of the value.""How about splitting it half, and I let you have any one item in my shop for free? And... is she your friend?" he nods to Lila who by now has noticed something taking place between the two of you."She is mine but not my friend.""Well, I'll also throw in whatever she was going to buy. How does that sound?"The elf looks eagerly to you, and unless he's a good liar this isn't a ruse. But strange nonetheless to you... why would he want your spit? Is it actually valuable? It's just waste to you, you'd never even think of it but he's making such an offer and so willingly. And if that wasn't enough..."...and while you're here, if I have your interest, anything else you'd be willing to part with I'd gladly take... or pay for, trade for. A tooth, a claw, a scale? Anything really, I may never get another chance like this long as I live!"Now it's starting to get a little creepy, the interest he has in you. You're reminded for some reason, of that goblin trying to pry one of your scales off with a knife. You'd thought it to be taking a trophy or something from you but maybe it was motivated by value? Unless you're wrong and this elf is insane... how valuable are you?>What do you do?
>>3650334we take the deal let Lila pick our free Item for us since we are too big for the store. Elf at this moment I can't part with anything else of my person, but I live in the castle in the forest. meet with me there in three days time bring your best business proposal and we will be what kind of deal we can work out. my name is Riona by the way
>>3650357I like this, dont forget we have that mug that can replicate any liquid so don't let Lila use whatever we buy until we can duplicate it at the castle
>>3650439man if we can work out a deal with this guy we are going to be making made money.
>>3650334>I want half of what you are paying me up front or We'll put it all in a contract in accordance to the cities' laws. I cannot trust such value to mortals without insurance.>Also you are not worthy of anything other than my spit, dont overstep your boundaries or ill fry you to a crisp, no one will think twice about the suzerain of this town protecting themselves from unruly subjects.
>>3650357>>3650439>>3651847>>3651890You're willing to accept his deal, after all if he rips you off you can just take from him what you're owed. Though you'd prefer the payment up front but he makes a fair case that he doesn't know what kind of value he can get until he actually makes something out of the saliva and sells it. A contract then, based on your dealings with the mayor it seems these lesser beings like their papers, need them as reminders so you'll do the same here and have Lila sort all that out."Only spit, however. You are not worthy of anything else. Do not overstep your boundaries or I will burn your store and you along with it. See if anyone questions the new ruler of this town for such.""O-Of course, I wouldn't dream of it... I just thought to ask, you never know!" he's a little startled by your sudden fierce reminder and feigns a bow in submission, "I'm not so fortunate as big city alchemists, I know a guild master once got an egg to work with!"Nicely done, you feel quite proud to prove that size isn't everything when it comes to exerting your draconic will and demanding respect. Unfortunately Lila is quite... limited in her ambitions so she simply chooses an elixir of love as the free item, after signing the contract and while you chew on the sponge for awhile before spitting it in the bucket. Still, the potential value here is not what she might choose but instead the possible enterprise with this elf."Why did you come here to begin with? This store and not another?""Well I... wanted to buy you this..."She holds up the item she'd sought to purchase in the first place, a big bottle of snake oil. Like the kind the elf used on your tail last night, it seems Lila was paying attention that you liked it so bought a whole bottle that could be used on your whole body. A nice thought, you'd thank her if anyone was ever deserving of your thanks for anything. Instead, perhaps you'll refrain from eating her so soon for her incompetence.---In any case then you have awhile more to your tour about the forest town, examining your new belongings including the inhabitants, before you decide to take your leave and return home. It's easy enough to find the mayor again, with the servants you'd asked for. Four strapping young men to help clean the castle as laborers, and look for any need of repairs. No gold or goats though, the mayor claims that they need some time to work out a reliable supply the town can manage. In the case of the latter for example, what farmers they can go to in order to figure out a schedule of goat-donation so to speak, so that the town doesn't mismanage or turn up short on the tribute once it gets underway.>Anything left to do here, or on the way home? Or just return to your castle?
>>3652029>head home, let's get to know our new servants on the way with a pleasant conversation[also stealthily inquire if any of them know how to read.]
>>3652029Oh, what a nice thought, Lila is acgually thinking of long term servitute and not running away, nice.Lets put these worms to work on the castle, call them worm 1 to 4.Also, the no goats was annoying I was hoping for a bite before we went home
>>3652131we have the corpses at the castle. so it's not the worsed I also am actually curious to learn why they volunteered to work for us.finally, worm 1-4 is a little unoriginal and I am not for it.
>>3652144lackey 1 to 4 then! Fitting, and sure, we can see why they volunteered but its quite obvious it's because of our greatness and absolute authorithy, I sure hope they don't expect to get paid, at least not from us.
>>3652160All right, how about we use lackey as their titles. for example, lackey [name here] do as I ask or be eaten
>>3652178But then we would have to learn their names! Bah! We'll see, if we ever remember it.
>>3652178if you give them names you might get attached then it's harder to eat them kek
>>3652196>>3652200I can understand your points of view. but I personally am interested in learning two things:how they ended up in out employ and two what the mayor told them. since I still have some lingering doubts about the mayors' loyalty to us.
>>3652213I agree with the things you want to learn, I was being playfully draconic.
>>3652218I had a suspicion you might, glad to see we are on the same page
>>3652084>>3652131You depart from town then with your new servants following behind through the forest, as you try to get a sense of them. Just four local men who volunteered for this work when it was made known by the mayor, they claim. Though it's a bit disappointing you find, that they aren't really your "servants", they're just laborers. For them this is just a job and they actually only plan to be working for you for a few days before they depart, to be replaced by another labor team. It seems your help will come in the form of these rotations so that there's always a fresh and eager team to work but it's never the same people for long. You suppose there's some benefits to that but you were kind of hoping for more slaves like Lila, and considering this now maybe you don't actually care to learn their names? Though of course there's nothing stopping you from physically kidnapping and keeping the men as your servants, not like they could ever hope to stop you. But that's just the way it stands, the agreement that seems to have been arranged. Incidentally though, one of them does actually know how to read and has construction skill (otherwise they wouldn't be much good in making any potential repairs) so you could request that of these labor teams there's always at least one with similar skills. And no, you're not expected to pay them but you are expected to feed them at least."Augh! What's that?!" Lila screams, turning away in revulsion. You spent the rest of the day traveling through the forest without trouble because who's going to bother you now, that the spiders are on the decline? But upon reaching the castle, you find at the end of the bridge before the gatehouse, a dead orc strung up and mutilated. On closer inspection it's the same orc you had caught and given your demands to. Whatever that means you're not sure, but it seems your workers have something to clean up right away... or food to eat.Something to ponder now that you're home again, free to do as you please here onward.>What do you do?
>>3652232Eat the dead orc, then we need to clear the castle making sure that is it really secure. looks like we are going to be eating Orc for the foreseeable future. have the labors secure the entrance to the castle as the top priority. then after we have cleared the castle we need to go hunting for wild game to keep our workers feed.
>>3652251>>3652232I agree with this, the orcs seem to not have accepted our demandsbefore we go, try to replicate our new oil with the>A water skin which duplicates whatever liquid is stored inside to limitless potential
>>3652272while we are out hunting, fly up and try to see signs of an orc camp
>>3652272>>3652276also supporting this as well as my own
All of the aboveTell Lila she can push some cushions to sleep at the floor tonight and we expect another song when we are back, or at least an old one that she knows is good
>>3652251>>3652272>>3652292The whole orc? At your size you can't stomach an entire person in one sitting without being waylaid for it, particularly flying of course.Either way, make a roll for your hunting effort to rustle up some din dins for your workers for tonight. As for the orcs, you do know of their encampment since you had sighted it when you first flew over the upper half of the valley in looking for a new place to settle after leaving mother's lair.
Rolled 50 (1d100)>>3652325ok thenonly eat enough to fly, we eat the rest when we get back, how does that sound?
Rolled 93 (1d100)>>3652325we will hunt first then! we will return and eat the whole orc. we will deal with the orc village in the morning
Rolled 20 (1d100)>>3652325
Here is my plan for dealing with the Orcs, we gave them a choice, to give us tribute or to suffer. they have chosen to suffer. we will attack in the dead of night set fire to most of the structures in the settlement destroy their gate and kill the Orc leader. after this, we give them one more choice to give us tribute or to all die. how do this sound to my fellow anons
>>3652374while I like your plan, I believe that an orc tribe may have enough arrows to fuck a dragon our size, attacking at night sounds good, killing as many as we can too, but staying and making demands will all depend on how many are left
>>3652383you make a good point, so the revised plan is to *attack at night trying to inflict maximum damage then GTFO before they can fuck us up with arrows.
>>3652330That's fine, just pointing out that you're not a size big enough where you can so simply eat a whole person, not yet at least without side effects.>>3652383It would take a charge with a lance to penetrate your underside, anything less won't harm you. That's not to say that the orcs might not have some similar weapons of their own, but for the most part something like arrows are no threat to you. Apart from your eyes of course.>>3652336>>3652342>>3652330>93Along with the laborers you can do a check of the castle, and they need some help with the occasional remaining spider, but otherwise it doesn't seem like the castle was broken into or anything. The orcs probably just left the dead one as a message or something and didn't go any further. In any case it's already nightfall and your workers will be hungry! So you bid them to set up a room for eating and you'll be back in no time with some dinner for the lot of you. Or, them. You can just continue to eat bodies for another couple days at least. As for the hunting, well flying through the forest isn't really possible at your size, but you do have sufficient night sight to prowl the forests nearby. Interestingly you eventually happen across what appears to be a human... or are the elves? A little hunting band having brought down a deer. In your forest no less! Whether you want to take action against them though is up to you, otherwise you can quite easily just find some alternative game.
>>3652437approach and thank them for the quary, we will accept it as apology and tribute for invading our territoryif/when they start to run, grab one and interrogate to see where they are from and what they do in our domain, don't they realize it's full of spiders?
>>3652437Don't show ourselvesAsk them who they are and what are they doing in our forest, besides hunting.Where are they from? From the town nearby?
>>3652474I like the part of talking while hidden at first
>>3652486>>3652474>>3652448>>3652496From the darkness you observe their efforts, waiting for what you feel is the perfect opportunity to speak and make yourself known, but not reveal yourself!"Who are you? What are you doing in my- argh!"You're cut short when an arrow flies true and hits you right in the face, causing you to flinch. If you were unlucky it would have got you in the eye! Angered by this point to want to remain hidden any longer, you burst through the trees and bushes, roaring and chasing after them."Dragon!""Sound the horn, dragon!"The elves deftly manage to avoid your initial charge, but you perform a tail sweep that catches a couple of them off guard and knocks them to their feet. Continually you're peppered with arrows with many aimed for your head, it seems they know your only weakness at this age. Notably though, they aren't running away, withdrawing but attacking and covering their slow retreat while doing so.>How hostile do you want to be to them? How lethal, that is.
>>3652519grab one that we triped and fly away, don't want to risk the eyes, we can interrogate it then
>>3652519>they attacked first if they die as we defend ourself that isn't our problem.
>>3652531This, grab one and flee, do not engage the others, they know how to hurt us so let's not stay around.Try not to kill any of them yet, we may still use them for something.
also, a 93 was hostile elves? what the fuck?
>>3652531Oh that's clever! Bonus to your next roll.>>3652536>>3652544>>3652556With quick thinking, and a monumental effort to keep your rage in check, instead of burning everything you instead pounce upon one of the elves you knocked down and with your grip on them you jump up and spread your wings to take flight. Carrying them off screaming, you can hear a horn from behind, the group but in short order your far enough away that it's no longer a problem. Carefully you fly low then, when you sight an area open enough to do so and drop the elf, then come back around to land and catch them by pouncing once more when they try to run from you.Looks like you've caught yourself an elf then, pinning them to the ground and looking over their form with strange clothes unlike the humans you're familiar with. Very green and suitable for the forest you suppose, in the way of camouflage. Thanks be for that, because otherwise you're not really sure how to tell them apart from humans besides the ears... all these lesser races look so damn similar to you!Well in any case they're seized with fear, too much to struggle and resist and instead uttering some elven language of theirs... prayers perhaps.>How do you want to deal with them?
>>3652567start explaining, what were you doing in my forest? how dare your friends attack me while I was merely talking and more importantly where do you come from?
>>3652577ThisAnd the elf if they are in league with the cursed orcs! We are going to burn them so bad!If they are alliesbthat would explain why they attacked.
Rolled 33 (1d100)>>3652577>>3652617>>3652626How does the elf fare?
>>3652630good, the elf shakes!the elf rolling low is good for us right?
>>3652630>33The elf is quite terrified! Not so much that they're a gibbering mess and useless to you, but definitely afraid enough to speak as trace your claws along their face and grip their head to get a good look at them."To attack me in my forest, you forfeit your life... unless you tell me what you were doing? And where do you come from?""W-W-We were j-just hunting! W-We didn't know there was a d-d-dragon! O-Our home is not far, w-we've always lived here, in the f-forest!"The elf speaks freely through fear, though only too late do they realize they spoke too much and gave away something they shouldn't have. So, there's elves living in the forest too? They must be very secretive, very well hidden for you to have not noticed them... even more for them to have not noticed you. It's a wonder how long you might have gone without realizing their existence, if you hadn't gotten lucky with your hunting >>3652546"And what of the orcs? Are you in league with them?""Th-The orcs? Gods no! They are a b-blight upon this forest, even the h-humans are hostile to them!"Well at least you cleared that up, they're not some allies united against you. By the sound of things, just a legitimate other settlement of a different race, dwelling in the same forest. It is quite big after all, as you know.>What do you do?
>>3652674On phone can't plan. But we should try to make them a tributary. After we deal with the orcs. Also let her live she did as we asked.
>>3652674well, I claimed my throne here after killing the spider, the orcs, I will deal with them since they offended me, so I offer you the same thing I offered them, pay me tribute and live, be it by way of food, gold or dead orcs, you can find me at the castle, and if your people come to talk, they better bring gifts to apologize for their insultyour name elf?now go, and I expect an answer from YOU, soon, I'm more patient than my mother but not by much.
>>3652697also mention that the humans already bowed, they are currently fixing our home, that may give the elves additional incentive to not cross us
>>3652697Support, follow him from a distance until we loose him, because we probably will, just so we have a general idea where their camp is.
On a semi-related note, I made a little map out of the land you're in. With;>The valley you are in clear to see, by your castle at the head of it>Cestion, a country to the east and where Lila hails from (this is her map she'd shown you)>Petrar, is the duchy which also governs the valley but as you know doesn't technically own it>Ypren, a country to the west of which Petrar belongs to>The little points are the settlements that you are aware of, have witnessed yourself (mostly when flying over or seen while flying), with the larger points being towns and the smaller points being villages, and the star being the exception which is the capital of Petrar that you haven't seen but Lila has told you where it is
>>3652726Very nice, thanks qm, what did you use to make this?
>>3652726I love the map
>>3652738Some online map generator thing, I just googled it lol>>3652693>>3652697>>3652713The orcs have proven to be... difficult, but perhaps these elves have more sense? Humans you like as subjects, they know their place and seem willing enough to serve you. You haven't dealt with elves beyond individuals, but they could make good subjects as well."I killed the spider queen, I took the throne. This land is mind, this forest is mine... you, are mine. As you seem to have not known, I will show mercy... once. Your people will bring me tribute each crossing of the moons, for this you will live. If these terms are not clear to you, seek me in the castle... I expect gifts to remedy your insult upon me."You accompany your piece with a fanged smile, before getting off of the elf and letting them to their feet. Nodding for them to go, they hastily make a run for it, not even bothering to gather their few dropped belongings. As a farewell though, you call after them."Your people would do well to find their place in my world, elf. The humans already have, and for it have been spared the flames."Hesitantly the elf looks back with a fearful nod, then proceeds off again. Giving it a little distance then, you try to prowl after them but find that you can't keep up, the elf is simply too fast and too familiar with the forest for you to track on foot. You go as far as where the hunt had taken place but those elves are gone by now, probably having met up with the one you caught and fleeing to their homes. You have the deer they killed though to yourself now, or rather to take back to the castle for your workers if you wish. There's also still the matter of the orcs, and it is night time, but maybe a stop at home first?>What do you do?
>>3652805Go home to drop the deer, ask Lila everything she knows about the elves here or elves in general, the fuckers were quite bold, bolder than the humans and the orcs, if we don't have to kill them they will make good lackeys. Then we can find some orcs to roast.
>>3652805go back to bring the foodwhat a lovely night!do the orcs only have one encampment? or more than one?we deserve a good oil rubbing for today, get that oil to good use!
>>3652845From what you saw there's just one main encampment.>>3652840>>3652829You can pick up the deer then and fly home, landing in the courtyard with it. Not the best landing but you're getting better, and good practice with something already dead. The workers are glad for the food even if it is just meat, and you can see they've already taken to cleaning the place of webs and vestiges of the spiders. It's not a massive castle relatively speaking, but it's big enough that it could take some time to fully restore however you've at least started it. Specifically, they cleared out and set up the old dining hall which apparently is where the humans have their feasts and interact... but separate from where they have normal, smaller meals? Strange creatures."What do you know about elves?""I don't like them. They think they're better than everyone... well, some of them. The ones that live together in their villages or whatever they're called. Some single elves are nice enough, like the alchemist we met. As a race though..."Lila isn't from around here so she doesn't know about those in the forest. You can ask the workers though over dinner, they are aware since they're locals. Apparently there's a small elven village in the forest that has been here for many years, and they keep uneasy relations with the humans; willing to trade but otherwise reclusive and hostile to trespassers. It's not known where this village is but all the workers are at least aware of it existing.Based on this alone you're not sure if they would make good subjects... and again, you prefer the idea of having the forest entirely to yourself. But a little elven enclave could have its uses, and if the elves themselves prove to be tolerable servants... better than the orcs at least, then you might spare them.>Do you want to go after the orcs then tonight, or settle in instead?
>>3652936we can deal with the orcs tomorrow, let's stuff ourselves with the orc and then get Lila to rub that new oil so we can sleep, life is good.

>>3652982Do this>>3652977Then this
>>3652977>>3652982>>3652998With your humans take care of for now then, you can go out for awhile longer tonight, specifically to scout out the orc encampment. You know where it is already so easy enough to fly over and examine it better. Pretty sizeable place, lot of orcs and goblins, but nothing you feel like you couldn't handle even on your own.So then you can return home and eat as much of the dead orc as you possibly can till you're feeling sick, and sleep it off after a good rub down with the snake oil that makes your scales all nice and clean and shiny and vibrantly red. Not to mention you also check, and see that indeed the magic waterskin can duplicate the snake oil. You're not sure if it would work on magical liquids but for anything like this which is mundane it seems to work!---You're awakened the next day by the sound of work in the castle, as you make your way down and locate the throne room where you see the laborers surveying the place and some of them up high by the rafters. As you know, apart from just cleaning the castle of and removing signs that spiders were ever here, the humans also offered to repair the castle of any damages. You'd not really cared about that you just didn't want webs everywhere, but it's a nice bonus thrown in when imagining the future. If you can have the castle restored to new as well as cleaned up for not much extra effort, then why not? Something to pass on to any valued servants, or your own progeny, if your goal remains the same in the future such that you grow simply too huge for the castle itself. In any case, the workers will be fine for breakfast since there's still plenty of deer left over from last night, though they do request something other than just meat whenever you might be able to manage. If you don't need them for anything then they'll just continue with cleaning the place up all through the day, and the next for as long as they remain before their replacements come.>What do you do?

They're busy working for you all day cleaning up your castle, when can the afford to go hunting, if they even have the skills to do so? And naturally they would bring enough food with them, if they could. But as you know there's no working road between the castle and town. Until that point, you can't really expect any workers to come with much in the way of supplies. In any case, you oversee some of the work being done and are pleased that it's coming along well; the more webs get cleared away the more you can see the great quality the castle more or less remained in after all these years. You suppose being infested with spiders only interested in food, will do that to a place. But a little after midday Lila comes running looking for you, a basket full of greens under one arm as she says someone is here to see you? Sure enough as you move outside to the gatehouse, there at the end of the bridge are a complement of elves... rather nervous looking elves having brought some things with them too."We seek audience with the spider slayer!"They do their best though and you can kind of see what Lila meant about their arrogance. As fearful as they are, they remain calm and composed and hold their heads high, keep their dignity. Dealing with humans you know already, they'd be groveling and praising you and trying to charm and appease you. But what can be done about it? Different races have their different ways. It's been awhile since you eaten elf before though, as you look to the little envoy group with a fanged grin.>What do you do?

Have you come to pay tribute as penance for your" you can see the impotent rage simmering just under the surface of the lead elf, "cruel and unprovoked attack?""...we have... brought tribute, yes."He gestures for some of the ones behind him, and a few elves bring forth various gifts for you. Another deer and some baskets of various mixed foods, a golden apple, a bird with magnificent plumage, and some elven craft work trinkets and articles of elven clothing. It's nice, definitely a "gift" in the fanciest sense of the word... but again you kind of feel like the human way is more suited to your draconic tastes by serving up a taste feast, liquoring you up and getting some serving girls to lavish you with attention. If neither race are giving you gold which is best of all, of course, then you'd take the enjoyable gluttony the humans offer up than the fancy pretty trinkets of these elves. But really, what does it matter? You don't have to choose! Both local races are subservient to you it seems now, only those wretched orcs resist. In any case the elves want to negotiate terms, though would prefer not to just out in the open on a bridge. If you even bother to entertain them, and what terms you seek with them, is your choice to make.>What do you do?
>>3653720[good, good our domain grows!]Of course, we will entertain our "guests", once we are in the feasting hall talk about our terms. "I offer you the same terms that I gave the humans. I want tributes, to claim your town as part of my territory. Monthly taxes, and a supply of food, and some servants to clean my castle. these are the same terms that I and the humans came to an agreed upon. aren't I so generous and reasonable" smug dragon tooth smile intensifies. of course, we have Lila by our side to help us not be fucked over by these tricky elves.
>>3653752You can invite the elves into your new home, to show off your power and position over them. And all the while you can plainly tell of their utter disdain for you, barely contained just beneath the surface. The idea that you could show up and in a matter of days claim dominion over them who have lived here for generations, that you're doing so in such a flagrant manner, and worst of all that you're clearly so young as to seem like a child to them. It goes against everything that is in their nature and culture, and you can tell that if mentally and even spiritually aggravates them.Good, all will know their place in your domain. From the highest elf to the lowliest goblin, all are your possessions to do with as you see fit. Let them pray you choose to take good care of your belongings.Hmm... I sound like Illyrie...A funny thought, comparing yourself to your black-scaled sister. You wonder how she would have done things in your place..."I offer you the same terms that I gave the humans. I want tribute, to claim your town as part of my territory. Monthly taxes, a supply of food, and some servants to clean my castle. The humans agreed upon these terms, and I think... so should you. Am I not reasonable and generous?"The only room suitable for the meeting is the dining hall, as the elves are seated in chairs at one end and you sit on the floor but of course are of a size to match them seated, at the other end of the table while Lila stands quietly and dutifully. At this point you're just showing off, flaunting your superiority, power and might and really rubbing it in the elves faces. As much upset as it causes them brings you immense delight, something so arrogant and refined brought low to groveling. Still, they can only take so much and one elf has an outburst and pounds on the table at your demands... but is quickly silenced by the lead elf."Reasonable that you are, surely you can understand that we cannot match the same terms the humans did. They populate this entire valley, we are but a small village of some families. We... are willing to accept your rule, but for this we pray to your... generosity, in allowing us terms that are befitting our smaller nature."Well, he's not wrong. Of course you'd like to wring these elves out for everything they're worth just for the pleasure of it. But some things you want, they can't actually manage. Like taxes for example, when they don't use or keep gold. Or servants, when they are few in number so can't easily just spare people for you. On the other hand, some things like food they can very well manage, and if you would take tribute in other forms...>What do you do?
>>3653826If what you say is true then I suppose it can't be helped. [toning down the smug] All right then please do enlighten me to what your people are able to handle? I am willing to forget about taxes and servants in exchange tho, your people will act as my eyes and ears patroling my forest keeping watch over it and reporting back any happenings or noteworthy news. [turn the smug back up] do you think that might be something your kind can handle?
>>3653907this seems reasonable.
>>3653907Sounds good, we don't want any unwanted things in our forest and they seem to want to protect it too.Do they do magic? Can they assist with magic since dragons can't do it?As the humans have done, maybe they should send and emissary to be here like Lila or to visit regularly so we can check on them.
>>3653907This.The leader elf actually makes a surprisingly good point. It would appear that we need to accommodate the different races in order to extract maximum tribute that they can actually handle.
>>3654251>>3654242what do you guys think of the smug?
>>3654255I think we can drop the smug for now, we already established and I don't want them to something that will force us to kill them, that would be cpunter productive.
>>3654242>>3653907I like it, they probably already know about most threats in the forest. So, aside from the orcs what other things could pose a threat to us around here?
>>3653826Eat the hand of that the elf that pounded on the table. The orcs are already going to fight, let's not have a war on two fronts. Push their buttons but ultimately make the demands reasonable. "What you're saying is that you're not capable of providing the same tribute that humans can? I don't see how it's my concern you cannot meet my demands because of your own weakness...Very well, I suppose i will acknowledge your inherent limitations. I expect a grand amount of food to compensate for lack of gold and servants." been lurking this for awhile now. Enjoying it throughly
>>3654821I'm against eating and keep pushing buttons, we did enough...for now.if they resist we will be forced to kill them out of pride and that would make us fight in two fronts
>>3654821I am strongly against this as it can only weaken the position of strength we have over the elves. we have what we want. it's time to chill
>>3654821>Eat the handEat the elf!
>>3654953No! Bad QM!
>>3654953no don't do it, we don't want a guerilla war from the elves. they are bending the knee that enough
>>3654983A lesser race? Being a threat to you in any conceivable way? What utter nonsense! Nothing could ever threaten such majesty as a dragon!
>>3654948>>3654879Adding my voice to this, they keep watch for now and seem to be willing to bend the knee, probably only because the humans did and they know they can't take us both.Se had some fun, now just treat it like a normal deal. After it's done ask Lila if she paid attention to the meetings, sooner than later we will be too busy to deal with these things and she will have to handle our subjects.
>>3655018true very true
>>3655018I think we should also build a better relationship with Lila. She’s going to be our main servant right now, and honestly she can be useful but we don’t want her to turn on us somehow later. She came from a small village(I think) and doesn’t even know how to read, so she must not have had the best life where she was. If we treat her well for doing good things and rewarding her with trinkets that we don’t need or want, perhaps it will make our relationship better. She’ll probably work harder/better through trust rather than fear. Also since we have the elves where we want them, that’s good enough no need to push any buttons. We may be a majestic dragon, but we are inexperienced at everything. From flying to combat, we have nearly none. Best not to provoke everyone we come across unnecessarily. Until we grow and get stronger to the point where we truly don’t fear anyone or anything. Keep in mind we couldn’t beat that spider queen without the help of humans.
>>3655163I though about delegating stuff to her because I feel she is somewhat loyal, be it fear or a chance to have a better life she is taking our interests in mind.As for reading, my plan was to get that elf alchemist to teach her in exchange of some more spit, and then, im private and without anyone knowing we can learn with her.
>>3655176these are what we call in the industry progamer moves
>>3655182>>3655176>>3655163All deez plans for the long term and you go rolling a 1
>>3655191Oh yeah, I alnost forgot we rolled a 1 for attacking the orcs and will probably die or be crippled real soon
>>3655191Please have mercy on us
>>3655195>die or be crippled real soonSomething like that...
>>3655191we it's like this Either we survive the Orcaning or we don't. as such, I chose to plan for the future..
>>3655228I feel like the orcs will end up killing Lila
>>3655260we agreed on a solo night raid, so the pain is coming to us.
>>3655303Unless they attack the castle before we go, then everyone is doomed.I'm really sorry for that 1 guys, I was enjoying the quest so far.
>>3655319Well my guess is that we piss them off and they already know where our castle is so they come after us instead
>>3655319ah yes that is a possibility
>>3655319Don't be sorry, nothing ever ends! It just gets more... interesting.
>>3653907>>3654821Though it annoys you to admit, these elves aren't wrong."What you are saying is that you are not capable of providing the same tribute that humans can? I do not see how it is my concern you cannot meet my demands because of your own weakness... very well, I suppose I will acknowledge your inherent limitations. I expect a grand amount of food to compensate, what else can you do?"Being compared in a lesser way to humans looks like it causes them physical pain, and after some uneasiness among them the leader asks if a couple of their number could be excused outside for a bit."By your wisdom, hopefully not too grand lest the forest be exhausted of wildlife. As you will find though if you care to accept our offer, we are craftsmen of excellence, far superior to any humans I am sure you will agree.""See what I mean?" Lila leans in and whispers to you in response."As well, I pray that it is not to your displeasure to point out your... age. Elves enjoy long lives as I am sure you are aware, and the skills, the wisdom, the experience that comes with it. I would not presume you to be lacking in any regards, but perhaps you would value elven counsel however it may benefit you."Now that does sound like a veiled insult, like he's calling you a child. In truth you are very young by dragon standards though, and your experience until very recently was limited entirely to living under mother's wings in the same caves your whole life. You observed and learned from her, but unlike Illyrie or Ymirro, who took the care to learn of the outside world in their own ways. You don't want or need a teacher, life is the best teacher but perhaps these elves in their centuries of life could prove to be useful little birds to have on your shoulder and at your ear, at times?"I will... consider the offer of your advise. In the meantime however I will accept your tribute of crafts if I may peruse them and they are to my liking, along with food of course. And one other, that you continue your stewardship and patrol of the forest as you always have, but for me. I want my forest to thrive just as I want my domain, my people to thrive, and like those things I also want to know what is happening. If so much as a leaf is turned, I expect you to know of it, and I want to hear of it."Around this point those elves that left before out of disgust or anger return, but hardly make it into the room when others similarly need to excuse themselves over your claims of dominance, particularly over the forest."On these terms, I will gift your people their lives... and the privilege to live under my wings."Again, though your words and manner visibly pain the elves, what choice do they have? Hesitate though they may, there is only one outcome for them."...so be it then. On behalf of our governing Lady, I am bidden to accept your terms."
>Is this suitable to you? Anything else you might want, or want to do while the elves are here?
>>3655374nah, that is it, we pushed far more than I thought it would be good, let's not take things further
>>3655374We're good. Let's proceed.
>>3655398>>3655408Well it's only about midday. Assuming you're attacking the orcs at night, anything else you want to do till then?
>>3655411Aside from discussing with Lila about the meeting, and warning her to start learning I say we get on with it to the attack at night, I'm too scared about it to do anything else lol
>>3655425support, but I want to look around the castle for some kind of eye protection that encounter with the elves should serve as a warning while we are hard to hurt it is still possible
>>3655425>>3655457The thought of getting shot in the eye is not an appealing one. Really it's one of the few physical weaknesses a dragon or any other creature would always have. Though you do have a second set of eyelids thanks to your physiology, as far as you know for the rare situation you may ever need to go underwater, you're not old enough where said eyelids could stop arrows. With this in mind, some sort of... lens or something, like you've seen the lesser races have on their faces sometimes, might be in order. To have something like that made, but it's not something you could find around the castle on short notice. Just something to keep in mind then, maybe ask the elves to make it for you later. So then after the elves depart you check over your workers doing their cleaning and repairs as usual, before giving all the elven gifts to Lila to sort out and the time to discuss with her the meeting."I thought you wanted the forest to yourself. Well these elves will be living under your nose, what if they decide to help enemies? They'll know everything about your defenses.""Ymi- I have heard that they live in trees? Why should I ever fear anything which dwells in something so flammable. Besides, they seem stoic types enough to not want to cause trouble if they do not receive it. I was... having some fun with them, but like you humans, as long as they prove to be good servants then I will do my best to see them live well. I think... they may recognize that."It's nice to have Lila watching out for you but you feel her worries are ungrounded. Give it time, the elves will either fall into place or go the way of the orcs but let them play their hand, it's their game to lose. You're starting to understand the interest, and the joy your sister got out of her dealings with the lesser races while living with mother; it's like they're all players at your table gambling with their lives, and you're the house. It's simply delightful.Well then, eventually come nightfall you bid Lila mind things while you're gone as you prepare for the attack upon the orcs. To finally set things straight with them, as much as making an example of them to anyone (including the elves) of what happens when displeasing you.>How do you want to make the attack?
>>3655536fly over their camp and burn the most orcs we can from the sky
>>3655536The original plan was to try to kill the most orcs in the shortest amount of time, find the biggest group and burn them then maybe kill some that flee while we were at it, so I guess it would be unfair to change tactics just because we know the dice result, time for the pain.
>>3655536we will approach using the clouds as cover once we are over the village we will start Strafing runs setting fire to as much of it as we can once the town is a raging inferno we live no words no taunting.
>>3655553>>3655536sounds good, solid tactic (even if we know it will fail spectacularly) (also its just an encampment, town isn't really the right word)
>>3655536Take some time to observe the camp once the sun sets. Look for any collections of flammable buildings/ things. Pay attention to their guards/watches/patrols and start picking orcs off quietly. After we've whittled them down or are spotted light everything up.
>>3655558no, bro, we are going for shock and awe. we have to hit them hard and for maximum damage. we also have the advantage in the air. getting in close is just asking for trouble
>>3655562>let's make ourselves a large and well-lit target over an entire encampment of orcs without even trying to take out some archers first>after rolling a nat 1 on the attack and the QM repeatedly pointing out our eyes as our only weak spot
>>3655573no metagaming, we play by the dice, we die by the dice
>>3655576Either way I'd like to try and take out some guards first. It'd give us more time to set things on fire before they can get organized, and make sure we definitely get some kills in
>>3655573Fuck you to yuh meta-gaming faggot
>>3655585but yeah we can try and take down the lookouts before we set off the fireworks
>>3655586Language!>>3655543>>3655552>>3655557>>3655558>>3655562>>3655553A stealthy night approach might be smart but honestly, at your size and relative clumsiness, it's hard to do something like picking people off. Easier for this to be a shock and awe attack as it were, you're just planning on showing up and setting the place alight quickly, then leaving. Leave them to their fires and to rethink their decisions as they burn. It's a good plan and for all you know it should work, as you leave your castle and jump off of the bridge to take flight, soaring off into the night on beating wings. And easily enough you can find the orc encampment after some time flying, clear to pick out by the lit clearing in the forest and smoke rising in places. Ha, you'll see more smoke rising before you're done, as you fly on high to descend in a swooping dive approach. What you hadn't planned on though, are two important problems. The first, that you would be able to fly without the use of your wings and second, that you would be the strongest being there. With surprise on your side it's easy enough to swoop in and make a few passes while vomiting a stream of flames on everything you soar over. In no time at all the encampment is a burning scene of chaos! But at your size and age you can't actually breathe fire particularly far, you have to get somewhat close to the target, close enough that on your third pass your wings are clipped by a sizable launched set of bolas through the air. Struggle as you might, the reduced movement of your wings brings you crashing to the ground among the camp, as you roar in pain and desperately try to untangle yourself. Right off the bat you're rushed by a number of orcs who see this as perhaps their only chance to defeat you, battering you with many attacks from clubs, spears, axes and you name it. As strong as these tusked brutes are though, you certainly feel the impact and pain from their blows but no lasting harm is caused as they simply cannot damage through your scales... and by the time you claw, bite, and burn them back they don't seem aware they can't hurt you.
You can't really multitask in this situation then, and seeing as your wings are tangled up too badly to simply untangle them, you resort to fighting your way out. A bit of a missed step getting caught and grounded by them, but honestly if this is the best opposition they can manage then you could just kill them all yourself and you're raging enough to do so. Roaring and breathing fire every which way, you're almost glad to be down with them like this to really feel the visceral experience of slaughtering them all... until you're met with a roar back. Through the smoke and the flames comes... some monstrous humanoid creature, easily twice as big as any of the orcs and beating its chest, roaring right back at you... and dragging half a tree. One of the cases here where a relatively sheltered life under mother has done you no favors because you have no idea what this thing is. First reaction simply, to breathe fire right at it and though the monster's clothes set alight and its skin burns, as you watch before your eyes it begins to heal back the harm you'd caused to it! Your fire breath dropped it to one knee, but when you have to breathe in and channel more flames again, the monster stands up once more and with another roar rushes for you."Wretch! Let go of me!"Screaming in draconic at the beast, you fight and struggle, bite and claw against it but the thing is simply too big and strong and it manages to grab its arms around your head to stop you from even opening your mouth to breathe fire. Screaming in your throat in panic as you find yourself lifted up in the air and slammed back down, you stagger in the dirt till finally it's lights out when the monster wallops you over the head with the tree.~~~Dreams, strange distorted memories. You recall a time you protected your feeble brother Ymirro from outsiders, adventurers. Mother crippled him so he couldn't defend himself well enough and would have died had you not come to his rescue. In the end you did triumph together, but in this dream, this... nightmare you're witnessing it all from the perspective of one of the adventurers... the fear, the despair at being bore down upon by a ferocious dragon... is this what it's like for your victims, how the lesser races see you?~~~"Always wanted a dragon... too small to ride though. Give it time."The dull, distant pain but it grows enough to wake you up as you feel something sharp jabbing at your tail. Deja vu? A goblin, trying to pry one of your scales off with a knife. Your reaction of course is to rear up and kill the thing, but you find yourself tied up and tied down, inside some big tent or hut. And speaking over you is that big monster from before, that probably put you in a state like this. You're alive, and by the feel of things (apart from an aching head) you're more or less unharmed... but the strange feeling, a fear you've never felt before of being a prisoner.>What do you do?
Have to duck out for a bit but we'll continue here when I get back, in the meantime you can figure out what to do!
>>3655661Well first things first, swear to kill each and every orc and things like this beast we ever encounter due to this shit, the guy is tellimg that he owns us, the entire species will burn for this.Do not speak, time to be smart, test our bindings, see if we can claw us free with time but do not make it while he is looking, see how much we can open our mouth and try to loosen up the bindings there slowly, when we can we shall burn the tent down along with what's holding us and try to escape, we will have to study a way to kill this thing
>>3655661TIme for some self-reflection and plotting we need to figure out what they have us bounded with and what they are planning. then when night false we break out and escape.
>>3655692>>3655661this, put the rage away for later, nurtur it until we can actually unleash our full mightnow tho, is time for smarts, these filthy creatures will pay until even their ancestors will feel it when it is time!

>>3655692>>3655697>>3655698>>3655709Genocide! You know the common language decently well though some finer vocabulary eludes you, but the idea is simple enough; death to all these worms that would dare to treat you this way, let alone resist your will! You'll rip them apart, you'll hear their misery before they die, you'll burn their race and grow fat off the dead! On father Bahamut and mother Tiamat, you swear that-"Good health, strong red. Make for good pet," the monster slaps your hide marveling at your form, coming to notice the goblin prying at your tail and kicking it away in anger, "wish it was male, could have bred it out. Shame."Don't these brutes have their own language? Why is it speaking common if-"Well I suppose you could use her as bait, and lure any males in. But in the meantime I tell you, those scales if you were careful about removing them, could make for fantastic armor!"What in the hells is this? A human? Fancy dressed and taking notes, answering questions and giving advice it sounds like. What manner of betrayal, and after you'd already negotiated for the humans to be your subjects! The sheer upset and anger as you try with all your might to get at this scum and break free to bring ruin to them all. As you find though, you are quite well secured to the ground and even your mouth is tied shut... only your tail it seems they didn't bother to secure as it thrashes around, but the monstrous humanoid grabs ahold of you to keep you from struggling further and when you can't resist anymore he pats your face like you're some worthless kobold or whatever pets these wretches keep."Good girl, get used to it with time."After assigning some lackeys to watch over you then he takes leave with the human to continue about their business and talk elsewhere, leaving you in the tent unbothered but endlessly humiliated.>What do you do?
>>3655964So, we have nothing to do then? Quest end gg?Is our tail sharp by any means? Use it to cut our mouth ropes and start burning the tent and our other ropes
>>3655964work on loosening the bindings over the course of the day some that we can make our escape in the night. moreover, feel around with our tail for anything we can possibly use. try to breathe a small amount of fire out of our nose to see if we can.
>>3655988Also>breed themDoes he have a female already? Maybe our sister? What difference would it make if it was a male or a female if he hadn't had the other tipe?
>>3655988it's not over until we are dead
>>3655992Fire from the nose seems good, getting something sharp with our tail seems good too, we should do that as soon as we can
>>3655988Are you giving up so? It's only over if you want it to be!Your tail isn't sharp but you have good control over it, enough to wrap around things even.>>3655992You can make a roll then if you want to try to loosen your bindings. Less a roll for actually do it and more a roll for doing so without being noticed. As for fire, you can actually vent some flame puffs out of your nose (it hurts) but not really far enough or strong enough to say, set the tent on fire.

>>3656008>>3656032>>3656041>>3656054>>3656220>91Clever notice, that the goblin had a dagger trying to take your scales and when it was kicked, the dagger was dropped. You don't have the kind of dexterity with your tail that you do your forelimbs, but you can discretely swipe your tail around till you can wrap around the dagger with your tail tip. No good for gripping and trying to cut at something but enough to extend your tail as far as you can with the dagger and basically lean against it back and forth with your side where there are bindings. Of course all of this, over the course of a couple of hours since there's orcs and goblins in and out of the tent either specifically to watch you or merely passing through. But eventually you manage to cut one rope after the other and since they shoved you to one side of the tent, the way you're laying obscures the ropes cut on that side so without moving too much it looks like you're still tied up! By the look outside it's about late afternoon now, and the only thing left are the binds keeping your limbs to the ground, and your head and wings obviously but everything else you're freed. If you could wiggle and rend with your claws just enough you'd be able to stand up so it's just a matter of time now. As you try to figure out the best way to do this though, back comes the monster with a couple orcs and the human in tow."-fire won't work, she's a dragon. Need different kind of burn.""And that's... acid? You're sure it will work?""Can try and find out."For the sake of not being discovered you lie still and play the part of a captive. They have a sloshing bucket with them though as they approach you. There's an exchange in their language that takes place before you hear some pained yelling and feel a hand push against your hide. Remaining "tied-up" you can't really see what's going on back there without turning your head, till they eventually pull back and you can see one of the orcs with his hand badly burned and immediately getting medicinal attention. And worryingly enough, you feel something on your hide. Just a tingling at first but eventually a growing pain which you can't just ignore and you howl through your closed mouth and writhe."Look good for me, look at that. Good, yeah?""I suppose that's one way to brand an animal with your name... or, mark."The lot of them leave long before the pain subsides, but you think the damage has been done... dreading to actually look and see how bad it may be. But, now seems your chance then and another agonizingly slow hour or so, you're able to scratch your forelimbs free. From this it wouldn't be much harder to totally free yourself, except your wings, so it's just a matter of how you proceed once you begin to fully free yourself... because there's no way it will go unnoticed.>What do you do?
>>3656254Free and then bathe ourselves in flames to free our wings and fly away, before we go back to the castle stop in the forests and rip out the scales they branded, we are of no one.

>>3656363The thing is, if the scale will she and be replaced as we grow up, since we will grow up, what stopping us from simply taking it out and waiting for the next one to come over the place where that one would be?
>>3656375straight from OP>>3656348>Ripping them out sure will remove the brand but you know that won't grow back.let them fall out natuerally
Rolled 33 (1d100)>>3656348
>>3656388But my question is what is thenfucking difference? For exemple, if you rip out a nail another one will grow, if you leave it marked, the growth will push the mark out eventually. My question is, if a new one will eventually grow to replace that one why wouldn't it grow if we removed the one it's already thereAnywayI can meet you halfway, instead of ripping the scale off, we can just cut it in half and take part of it off while we wait for the new one to grow, hopefully getting rid of the mark or at least most of it.
>>3656410Ask Scales, all I am saying is if pulling them out Right now will mean that they will never grow back then don't fucking do it. our scales are our armor we lose those we are fucked. To be clear I am against taking any action on our scales that will cause then to not grow back.
>>3656420Well, how about not ripping them and just cutting part of it to remlve the brand so it will grow back, if that is possible?
>>3656359You've no way of knowing at this time.>>3656388Though, it may also never fade.>>3656359>>3656361>>3656363>>3656369>>3656389>73You've never felt as insulted and burning with rage as you are in this moment, your desire to visit agonizing death upon this race heavy in your chest as much as your heart. But you were caught once and consider yourself lucky to be alive, you can't afford another risk like that again. So doing your best to try and calm yourself down as to not do anything irrational, and focus on the task at hand, you prepare yourself. And stand up."Ay... ay ay ay! Dragon's moving!""What?! What happened to the ropes?!"As soon as you start to move freely does the opposition start to act, an orc rushing in to try and wrestle you under control while the goblins start screaming and running outside for help. Let the orc try and get your head under control though, you're busy using your forelimbs to free your hindlimbs, after which you can rear back and headbutt him off you with your horns. Quickly clawing at your face you get the ropes off there, and without a moment to lose cover yourself in scorching flames with your breath. The only remaining ropes on your wings ignite so rather than trying to struggle to reach them you charge on out of the tent now that you can use your legs."Dragon!""Dragon loose!"Quickly surveying the relocated camp, you search for the best way out and charge straight for the nearest portion of forest as the camp becomes aware of your escape in the night and mobilize to chase after and try and catch you again. By the time you reach the trees though the ropes have burned enough that you can flex your wings and break free of them! There's nothing stopping you now from leaping to the air and taking flight, soaring off into the night sky amid a shower of arrows. Free, but feeling chained by humiliation and defeat...---You want to get home of course but take the chance to land some distance away, to at least inspect yourself. Looking back with dread, you can see by the light of the moons that you now bear a painfully visible white hand print on your rear, your red scales bleached white from the acid and dead. It doesn't hurt, not physically at least, but the shame is worse than if they had just sliced into you....and, while looking back at yourself, you notice a mortified goblin hanging onto your back. Must have tried to catch you in the retreat but never got the chance to let go once you took flight.>What do you do?
>>3656431If scales will allow it and they will grow back than yeah I can live with that.
>>3656441>your red scales bleached white from the acid and deadIf they're dead couldn't we just burn away the dead scales and let the new ones have room to grow?
>>3656441Catch him before he can flee take him into the castle then inform him if he wishes to live that he will tell us EVERYTHING about the monster that dared to brand us. also check on Lila and co
>>3656441Interrogate the goblin, how do we hurt the big one, who is the human and where is he from, do they have other dragons? No matter what he sais we eat him afterwards, his kind will have no mercyCut the mark out, but do not rip the scales off, hope that they will grow to cover the parts affected as we grow, but better a battle scar then a mark from our enemies
>>3656420>>3656410All you know is that if you tear your scales out by force, essentially ripping away the skin with it, you'll be left with a bloody wound and eventually a scar without scales to regrow there. Kind of like those humans, tearing their hair out badly and deep enough that it doesn't regrow. A pretty dire measure but it would remove the brand here and now.Instead, if you more carefully pull out the scales by loosening them and constant stress, you can do so without damaging your skin and new scales will regrow eventually though obviously for a time you'll have a bare patch pretty much like a scar. The last conventional option would be to just leave it and see if the brand fades with time, or simply when new scales come through to shed the old. The significant question here is how bad the brand is to you, it clearly marked your scales but did it burn your skin as well? The skin damage is the real concern here, but unfortunately you can't tell that by looking.Incidentally for what it's worth, some dragons you heard from mother, do actually rip their scales off. Mostly so they can feel better since scales are not a good sensory surface. So aquatic dragons for example, who do much better feeling delicately across their entire body, they'll actually de-scale themselves on purpose. Whether you have any interest in this seems unlikely, but it's just to show that it's not something unheard of or without benefit. Though naturally it seems you're more interested in protection than feeling.
>>3656466Before we start a riping out scale lets have Lila help us remove them with care so that they will grow back will that work?
>>3656467Carefully remove them witjout damaging the skin then.
>>3656484That will work for me
>>3656454Could be, or you could risk harming the skin as with >>3656467>>3656491You can do this but it will take a long time. Not as long as them falling out and regrowing naturally, but still.>>3656466>>3656457Your instinct is to just kill the creature immediately, but your thirst for revenge is great enough to stay your anger. Quite easily you shake the goblin off, and grab him securely with just one dragon-hand, pinning him to the ground simply by stepping on him lightly. If need be you can just put more weight on it."Eeep!""Can you understand me?""Y-Y-Ye!"Abject fear, the likes you haven't seen in any lesser race so far, not even those you attacked and killed."If you wish to live, you will answer every question I ask. What was that...the big one?""B-Bedo!" unsatisfied you push down, "T-T-Troll!"A troll? Well you've heard of that at least, never encountered one before though and you're glad for it."How do I kill it?""K-Kill troll? Can't! Eeep!" you press yet harder, "T-T-Take off h-head... only way I know how!""And that human? Who was he?""Grey! Know only one name, he comes to trade for things. Bring tribe things hard to get in forest and give good idea sometime!"By now after your pressing, the goblin knows to answer as best as it possibly can even if the answers are incomplete, lest you push any further and crush the creature."Your... tribe, are there any other dragons?""N-No! You see, no other!"Well that's strange then, you're satisfied to know most everything but this last point leaves you confused as to why the troll wanted a male. You don't get a good answer but you're not sure how to ask better than that. Oh well, you "interrogated" the goblin pretty well, you're not sure how much more good it will be now screaming and crying and begging for mercy for it and its people.>What do you do?
>>3656527>his life now belongs to us ask him what skills he has that can justify his continued existence. if he is useless then eat him whole. if he has skills we can use then impress upon him that he belongs to us now. Go find Lila in the castle for help with our scales and comfort about what has happened. also, tell her about our strange dream.
>>3656527Eat himAnd then go back to Lila to deal with the scales and see how thibgs are.Ask her what she knows about trolls
>>3656543>>3656592Oh dear, to eat or not to eat?He stutters and cries and says he knows how to mind and raise birds (chickens mostly) and knows how to cook, at least by goblin standards... whether or not his life has any value to you, is your call to make.
>>3656668Eat him, he can't be trusted
>>3656668a livestock keeper does sound useful intimidate him into servitude
>>3656668if we don't have a Tiebreaker then roll a d2
>>3656668Too little value for a potential security risk, eat the dude, if he could do something out of the ordinary I could consider but we can easely find a human that is more agreeable than the cursed goblinoids to do the same thing
>>3656698>>3656693>>3656689>>3656684You consider keeping him partly for his skills, partly to have one of this race to study and learn about it. But in the end, your anger, and hunger are too great and in a sudden effort you go for a killing bite and end the screaming goblin's life. Chucking his clothes off then, it's actually quite easy to eat the little being and roughly the same food capacity as a goat. If he didn't taste worse you'd consider goblins as an alternate food source, one which could also be made to labor. But goats just taste better and for eating that's your main focus!Rubbing your face with his clothes to get the blood off then, you take a deep breath and a sad look at your rear before running to a jump and taking flight once more to go home.---"Hah! It looks like someone spanked you!"Lila bursts out laughing when she first sees you upon returning home, not familiar enough with you to see the upset and despair on your draconic face... that's what you tell yourself at least, to steady your anger and desire to kill and eat her this instant for her insult. Surely if you were human she'd sympathize immediately rather than ridicule you.All things said though there's been no problems here at the castle. Seems the orcs didn't try to attack or anything while you were their prisoner. Probably, if you had to guess, you simply killed too many of them when you first attacked for them to muster enough force for a counterattack.>What do you do?
>>3656668Eh he might have use let him live.
>>3656783>have Lila help with carefully removing our scales that are branded while we talk about what happened, hoping that she will comfort us about it. also, tell her about our strange dream.
>>3656783Make her help us get the scale loose, can we cover it somehow? I want to gonto the human settlement and ask te mayor about that Grey dude, but only if we can cover it, if we don't wait for the rotation of the workers and requeat an audience.
>>3656841You suppose some coloring might cover it if you obtained some, or perhaps even clothes like the lesser races wear. Otherwise, your idea is as good as any on how to cover a hand print.>>3656806>>3656914Staying your claws from her throat, you instead lament to Lila about what happened in the privacy of your bedroom while she tries to help you remove your scales. "-and the way they treated me, no respect at all, like an animal! Look what they did, do you humans not do the same with your animals? I have never been so angry before!""I don't know what I would do, if someone did that to me. I think I'd feel the same way, I'd want them to pay..."It's more experience than a real science, removing your scales. You've done it a few times before, but it revolves around putting enough stress on the scales till they loosen and then fall out on their own. As long as they're not forcefully ripped out, then they can regrow in time and you just hope the new ones will come in red. The more you look at it the more upsetting and shameful it is however, you're not used to such feelings of humiliation, inadequacy, and just plain sadness. Thankfully when you make as much clear to Lila she sympathizes and helps you however she can, without judging. Though she's only a servant and her life is trifling to you, in some small way... you're glad to have her by your side. You've never had someone you could confide in like this before, it's a strange but nice feeling."I also had... a strange dream you know, when I was unconscious. I was remembering a time when I saved my brother-""Your brother? A dragon, needed saving?""Often, and I was the only one who did. Mother bit his wings off, he was always a runt, always feeble. I remember seeing, in the dream, from the eyes of someone I had killed though... it was..."Feeling a strange pang of empathy, you turn to grab Lila and pull her to you so you can look at her directly. She panics a little by the suddenness and how forceful you are, but your worry is enough that you aren't really paying much mind to delicacy with her."Lila... are you afraid of me?""M-Me? Afraid?! Nnnnnooooooo, of course not!"Well that's a relief, you like fear and awe of yourself but you'd like to imagine there could be people like Lila who wouldn't be afraid or could get over it. Not too many people. Actually just only Lila, everyone else can be afraid.>Anything else to do for tonight?
>>3656965>make an effort to sincerely thank Lila for her help and for just listening. then Gorge on some corpses for comfort food and call it a night.
>>3656985 seconded, yet again.Lila voted most valuable servant
>>3656965ask her what does she know about trolls
>>3656985>>3657025>>3657055You can ask about trolls but she doesn't seem to know much just that they're nasty monsters that live under bridges. In any case you can thank her for her help and for being a shoulder to cry on so to speak... after which you can stuff yourself with the remaining body and fume yourself to sleep in bed.---Come the next day you're awakened by Lila as usual, though this time she's brought some special in the way of breakfast, her mother's recipe for honey porridge since she knew you were upset. It's not filling for your size but quite delicious and there's no doubt you like sweet things. She was actually able to do so because the shift of laborers left this morning to be replaced by the new one and this new lot brought some bags of tools, supplies and foodstuffs. She instructed them to work, handled all that for you and also organized the things they bought alongside what she's now and then had the chance to forage a little around the castle, all being stocked in the kitchen larder."Oh, and try this... I think you'll like it!"She also has a fancy old goblet that must have belonged to the prior owners, filled with some purple-red liquid. The cup is too small, or at least too delicate for your clawed hands so she offers to tip some of it into your mouth as the cup contents roll over your tongue and prickle your sense of taste playfully."-no wait don't swallow so quick!""Why, what is it? Heavens, it is... it is good!""It's something called wine, the older the better and you're supposed to... like, I think rich people keep it in their mouth to taste for a long time? Well while looking for more places to clean, down beneath the castle there's a big store room with barrels and bottles of the stuff! Very old, I think best to save it for special occasions... but I thought you would like it."She empties the rest of the cup, it's not much, into your mouth. But for so little, it really is quite an interesting taste that you've never experienced before and is truly quite delightful, enough to brighten your day and start off on a good foot. After all that misery of last night, you really needed this.>What to do then for today, or moving forward?
>>3657102We should check up on the alchemist see if he knows anything about dragon scale growth, also we can trade him more of our spit and our branded scales for a profit. with the profits, we have made from tributes and sailing our spit and scales we should look into hiring some guards
>>3657102make a visit to the town, bring her along, the objective is to see if they know who that Grey dude is, and if he came from there, the mayor would probably know about someone who deals with orcsif we manage to pry that scale without damaging the skin we can work a deal with the alchemist for itand finally, we should see if he knows how to hurt a troll, since fire didn't work, and if he doesn't who would know.
>>3657144>>3657142Are you good to combine our posts?
>>3657144Fire did work, you just didn't maintain a constant stream on the thing. You set it on fire and then got caught off guard when it charged through the smoke (while on fire) to grapple you. Also a 1.>>3657142As said, it would take several more days at least up to week to loosen all the scales safe enough to pull off.---In any case this will probably be my last post of the night. Thanks all for playing! We may continue tomorrow but it might be at a later time depending on an engagement. On a related note, I notice now the thread is in autosage so I think a good time to check player enjoyment, if you guys like the quest, have any comments or critique, and if you would like to see it continue to a next thread at some point.
>>3657174hell yeah as long as you are having fun to man keep going. I know I'm going to be keeping an eye out for the next thread. anyway, thanks for running man its been a lot of fun.
>>3657174also forget selling the scales for now
>>3657174it can continue for me too>>3657192agreedeither way, we should see if anyone from the humans know that Grey dude, if we get him we can get closer to our murderous objective
>>3657829We should probably kidnap a better bard or a practiced speaker. We need a designated ambassador, it is not befitting of one of our status to be doing so much legwork
>>3657174The renovators, do they have paint with them? We could use some red paint to cover that mark while we take our time getting that scale out, if they don't we can cover it with some manner of clothes.
>>3657877Lila is fine she just needs more practice. Besides she has become our confidant.
>>3658478I agree, Lila is fine just needs some practice. Although I feel that she’s probably still scared of us, when we came back to the castle she did poke fun at us so perhaps she has become more comfortable around us, which is nice.
>>3658337They don't have red paint but Lila has some red stuff that humans put on their face to make them more attractive for some reason, so you can apply that and it does a... decent enough job of hiding the mark. However, you still feel it there even if you can't see it, like badge of shame that can't be hidden.>>3657185>>3657877>>3657829Lila is great and all but for what she's supposed to do, she's not particularly good at it seems. This is something which has taken you some time to figure out of course, unfamiliar as you are with the dealings and behavior of lesser races. But you can't well afford to not have the best, isn't that right? In any case you can depart for the day with her to town to clear up some business, in particular seeking out the mayor. Who, busy as he is, when a dragon comes calling he's not stupid enough to make you wait for him... you feel he's aggravated by it even if he hides it well."Ah, our gracious leader! What brings you to-""Grey, a human. Do you know him? I... saw him with the orcs, in their forest camp, it seems he has business with them?"Straight to the point which catches the mayor off guard as he'd been in the middle of his routine to charm you. But your interest is straightforward enough that he takes it seriously as you do."Well I don't know any names but yes there are people that trade with the orcs and elves of the forest, the dwarves too up in the mountains. It's nothing to do with us though, there's a route that follows the far side of the valley and they come and go as they need.""So it is no bother to you if I... have business with them?"It's a difficult concept for you to grasp, that individuals of a race don't represent the entire race in their actions. An orc encampment made trouble for you so you want all orcs in the world dead, a human was helping those orcs so you thought there some conspiracy and came here half a mind to kill the mayor for this betrayal. But it seems... that different peoples act in their own ways and this Grey fellow was part of a group of humans that have their own way towards the orcs.Either way the mayor can indicate the route these traders take, but he can't say for sure when they'll pass through. It's help at least, and on the topic of help he asks how the laborers are doing, if you're pleased with their work and if you would be at all interested in a road through the forest between town and the castle?>What do you do? And as already said, you can visit the alchemist after this.
>>3658530The road seems niceLets see the alchemist and see if he has a more effective way of getting out that scale without damaging the skin and what kind of treasure he would part with for the scale. After that I say e pay that trade route a visit and see if we can find our "friend" Grey, he is going to scream beuatifully when we are done since he had the idea for the mark and was advising the troll on how to treat us like an animal.
>>3658530Nah, Lila is fine, her best asset is not her bard skill but the fact that she seems loyal.Make Lila pick up some food too while we are here, and whatever other supplies would be needed at the castle.
>>3658565>>3658565Support but add we are please with the workers progress.
>>3658863Just thought of this but we should look into hiring some standing guards for the castle.
Hey, ready to continue now but would you guys like a next thread now instead of just continuing here? It's in auto sage so a new thread could be made.
>>3659060your call OP starting a new thread may draw new anons to the thread.
>>3659065If I do, would you guys be ok with a timeskip of like a few days to a week? And considering so, what would your general goals be for some coming days to a week? Apart from of course the orc situation, which could be dealt with in a next thread if we do one.
>>3659139get to know our domain, maybe set some boundaries and know what threats and opportunities it hashe mentioned dwarves, dwarves like to mine, mining means gold, I want to make them an offer they can't refuseget that damn scale out of us and sell to the elf for the most magical things we can. like healing, or acids to torture orcs withget goats!
>>3659139I don't mind a timeskipDuring that time get Lila to start learning how to read, get that elf alchemist to teach her.>>3659139This things seem good.We should also stalk that trade route to get Grey and interogate and kill him very very slowly.
>>3659139I on't want a time skip but if it happens here are my goals during the time skipgain goldgain a personal militiatake educational classes have Lila sit with us continue to trade our spit and other dragon related stuff with the alchemist.Indulge in a Excess of Food followed by belly rubs with the snake oil.
I think what we'll do then, is continue for the rest of today, and then tomorrow or day after, make the thread.>>3658883>>3658863>>3658668>>3658565You're pleased with the effort of these humans and let the mayor know as much. You'd wanted full time servants, but there's no denying that humans at least, work better in shifts when it comes to this sort of labor. You also express an interest in guards for the castle, though they don't have anything available besides a town watch but if you would like the mayor can spare some once the road is complete. Or perhaps even, if it's more known that this town is owned by a dragon they wouldn't even need a town watch. So with that business taken care of, you go next to the alchemist's story."Why did you not come to see me? I had told you to.""R-Right, I know you did... but I couldn't find where you lived! You said to come meet you at the castle in the forest, I don't know where that is even though I tried looking."Oh, well you don't suppose you can remain angry at him for that, a mistake on your part (though you'd never admit it). More and more this road idea is sounding appealing. Regardless, you want to know about the spit and the matter of the scales after having sent Lila to get some more varied foodstuffs and other goods for the castle while you're in town. "Removing dragon scales? So you have considered my offer!""If I were to, not that I am going to.""Well I've never dealt with a dragon before. I do have a tonic which helps with scale health for kobolds though, and I've heard tell it works on half-dragons. Maybe for you too?"Supposing he's not scamming you, while the alchemist doesn't have anything which might help with actually removing the scales, he does have just a natural remedy for helping scales to grow. Normally you would not want to use this in case it has adverse affects on your body, your scales, but perhaps this time for when your scales are removed it may be worth it to use and make new scales grow quick? Something to consider, while hashing out the details over the scales. He'll take them for sure and would be happy to do the same profit split with you as with the spit, half and half, and something like scales he could get a much higher value for.>Anything else you want to do in town while here? It seems you want to try after the trading group, looking for the Grey fellow, if so you can make a roll to try and wait for or seek him.
>>3659282Confirm to the mayor that you support the road being built to the Castle, let him know that if any elves in the forest give his men trouble tell them you personally approved the project. then have a quick lunch before flying to the trading group to inquire about gray.
Rolled 11 (1d100)>>3659304
>>3659304Well correction, there isn't just some established group you can simply go to. It would be more, you waiting maybe a couple days on the trade route for them to pass, or following it till you find them. So it will take either some time, or some travel, which is what you're rolling for. Assumedly you'll be sending Lila back to the castle in the meantime.
>>3659311Ah in that case after the lunch tell the mayor to put the word out to passing trader that someone is looking for gray and has a reward for any information on him.[do i need to reroll or no]
>>3659315If you'd like to you can reroll, since that is technically a different action.
