As you traverse the terrain the ground becomes softer as whispers haunt from the shadows.
The cultists come stronger and faster slowing you pace to a deadend halt as you are forced to draw blades as you power sword cuts spines in two as you fell multiple cultists with single blows in a lethal dance of death.
But the cultists are too many as the chaplain realises.
"THEY ARE BOGGING US DOWN BROTHERS THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO SUMMON THEIR CHAMPIONS CUT THEM DOWN."
The announcement causes the cultists to fight with more fervour as you discover their ruse and they push hard halting your charge.
No matter how many you and your brothers kill it is too late.....

The horrid screams of the daemon spur the hordes of cultists ever closer as the symbols of khorne on their flesh alight with burning bloodlust in the presence of one of his heralds. They charge closer with brittle axes and stub weaponry wielded in a battle fury that turns the weak armament into a deadly dance of death that no man can stand against,
The chaplain makes his stand and cries out.
"BROTHERS WE SHALL STAND FOR DORN THIS DAY AND DRIVE THIS MONSTER FROM THE MALEFICARUM BACK!"
You shoulder your cannon and burn a mighty path through the cultist horde with the solar fury of your plasma cannon.
Your shot sears through countless cultists melting symbols and combusting flesh until it reaches its target.
Your burning white stream of wrathful plasma smashes into the herald of khorne burning his torso and sending it smashing back into a building.
But it rises again wounded and lacking a horn as it screams.
"FETID WEAKLINGS YOU WILL DIE IN THE NAME OF KHORNE THIS DAY HE SHALL HAVE YOUR SKULLS!".

You roar your cry to match the daemonic foe.
"NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR!"
You smash pitiful cultists apart as you draw your power blade screaming litanies to the emperor as you face this daemonic herald and prepare to strike him down with the fury of a son of dorn.
"COME THEN WEAKLING FACE A WARRIOR OF THE TRUE GOD"
Your charge against the daemon is assisted by not only your brothers fire purging a path for your charge but also the daemon slicing through his own cultists to get closer to your defeat.
Battle is met as your sword smashes against his hellblade as underneath a warp tainted sky an heir of sigismund strikes a servant of the dark gods.
Your blows are parried expertly as the bloodletter counters the disintegrating might of the power field with his own warp forged blade as you spar on even ground with this monster.
But then your skill begins to show itself as you smash and crack the daemonic pommel with a mighty strike as you hit with the fury of man.
"A WORTHY FOE" the beast cries in its eightfold tongue as it too is spurred to greater skill by the eldrich fury of its lord.
Your blows begin to connect further as you hit low looking for the legs and forcing the beast to dodge before straining your armor to surge high catching the daemon off guard and badly wounding its face.
"NO I WILL NOT DIE HERE I WILL CLAIM YOUR SKULL FOR THE SKULL THRONE!"
Its next strike smashes into your pauldron cracking the ceramite and nearly spearing your flesh.
But in its haste your rear your sword once more to exploit to opening and rip your sword from its head to its knees as you split the daemon in two.
"FOR THE EMPEROR"
You cry as your brothers are reinvigorated by the daemons death as cultists flee at the sight of their dead saviour.
The battle afterwards is a slaughter as cultists are culled and the land is purified.
"You have shown strength brother.Dorn looks upon you this day"
Chaplain amadeus shouts.
You have done your duty to the crusade.
But you once more yearn for the next battle.
It is in your nature.
You are astartes.
You are the emperors fury.

The black templars have stood fast on many more fronts this day as while the breaches were made into the chaos fortresses the foe launched a bloody assault.
Thousand sons sorcerers summoned a great horde of daemons to fight alongside their mortal allies.
The imperial guard was hard pressed as across the line thousands died to the wailed screeching of cultists as lasfire was drowned under a tide of brutalised flesh and heavy weapons teams were fried in their dugouts by great streams of immaterial flame coming from the bolters of the 15th and the hands of the damned librarians.
The templars were victorious as bolt shell and chainsword shattered ragged carapace and ripped apart flesh of cultist and daemon alike.
Even though the astartes proved their worth as blood soaked the field and heroes made individual feats of valour many guardsmen died to the unstoppable horde of the warp and the unassailable hulls of ashen rubricae which lasfire could not pierce.
The basilisks did their duty and the bastions are breached but a heavy toll has been taken by the mortal men of the imperium.

10 templars dead.
16 regiments badly bloodied and reorganised into lesser remnants.

"brother you have done well this day."
"thank you captain"
"we have made a breach and the eternal crusade demands our wrath sword brethren."
"i will do what needs to be done"

SELECT MISSION.

>RESIST AND BITE
"brother the administratum has brought to our awareness the nature of this world as it was a fortress world when it fell to the predations of chaos. The head techmarine has been in communication with the mechanicus elements alongside the guard and they have marked possible caches to reclaim. We could use you brother to either assess what the foe may have or reclaim what was lost."

>DORNS FURY.
"brother the enemy bastion identified as the traitors storeroom has been cracked open and needs to be reclaimed. The enemy seems to be mostly maddened cultists and ragged pyskers but be warned they have dug up outdated but still effective gear. The men of krieg are prepared to give their lives in the breach.Be the hammer to their punch brother."

>HATRED OF SIGISMUND.
"brother the thousand sons have ranged from their main stronghold identified as the Light of the corvidae to a lesser bastion the Heart of truth. We have breached the walls of the lesser bastion and the proud troops of cadia will be the shock force that breaches.
We could use your aid brother in cracking the bastion and opening the road to the stronghold so that we can drive the filthy wytches off this world and reclaim it in the name of the crusade.

"i will see the foul scions of the fifteenth defeated captain."
"good sword brethren. strike hard and fast and show that dorns blood does not falter from the fight"

The frontline is hectic as cadians run about in drilled lines as supplies are handed out and armored companies roll to assault positions as demolisher captains scream for their screening troops to get in position and the scream of countless mortal throats deafens lesser senses under the drone of the pre battle preparations.
As the highest rank templar amongst your squad you enter the militarum command tent.
as you enter salutes go out as the cadian general stops his talk and silences his subordinates to greet you.
"lord astartes it is good to see you with us with your might we should see these traitors off.We are conducting a 3 pronged assault on the bastion with an armored spearhead into the main gate to smash it open and allow the assault to begin in earnest alongside a smaller wave that will swarm through the holes in the wall to disrupt the defenders and prevent them from attacking our tanks. The final assault of the operation is a sabotage operation of karskin squads using a hellbore drill to smash into their basements to potentially disrupt whatever ritual they are planning or failing that hit the defenders from the rear.
Your aid would be appreciated in any of these sectors my lord."

"FOR THE EMPEROR!"
A rallied cry screams across the battlefield as thousands of men charge through stubfire and warpbolts with faith in their hearts and the emperors fury in their voice.
The men of cadia have fought against chaos for thousands of years and this is their element.
You are currently using your superhuman agility to keep up with the charging column of armour as the speartip begins firing at the great walls of the bastion.
You shoulder and shoot a few bursts of your own as you melt stone and fry whatever pitiful scum was hiding behind their combusted cover as you yourself shrug off the hail of gunfire and dodge the bolters of the 15th.

the vox screams with priority targets as you shoulder your cannon and fire.

your shot beams across the battlefield melting durasteel and rending ceramite as you obliterate one of the thousand sons sorcerers as plasma melts through warp forged armour and his comrades look in rage at the death of their brother to the hands of a mindless weakling.Your brothers surge forward reaping their own rewards as boltshells rip apart cultists and rubricae are stalled as they reposition from the ground sundering beneath their feet from the shots of the vengeance launcher.
The guard push forward as battle cannons fire their own barrage as ordinance smashes chaos fortifications and shots hit the rubricae on the walls sending them flying off of it forcing them back.
Demolisher shots pound at the gate as ceramite and durasteel bend under the barrage until the gate gives and a hole is formed for the guard to push.
The men of cadia give their all as they push through the gaps in the line as flamers and lasfire incinerate cultists and the foul worshippers of the dark gods are sent back to the warp to be consumed in their failure before the might of the militarum and the valour of the defenders of the Kasrs.

The scorching fire of lasfire is now met with the hoarse screams of the cultists as they utter heretical oaths in the name of the chaos gods.
as guardsmen sell their lives in the breaches they begin to falter as bayonets are met with crude axes and salvaged knives and lasfire is met with stub rounds as carapace breaks and blood surges.
But for every guardsman that dies 10 more take his place as the breaches are stormed by flamer troops as the cultist hordes are driven back by holy promethium and guardsmen spill into the inner bastion as cultists are driven towards hastily dug lines before the citadel and grenadiers spill from the imperial lines to dig them out.
The russ company moves as well as they smash through the gate and turn their cannons on the mass of cultists in their barracks as ammo stores are exploded from battle cannon rounds and makeshift bunkers are shattered by demolisher fire.
You charge with your brothers as well but are lagged behind as you are forced into cover from entering the gate as streams of warpfire erupt from the sons lines and you begin trench fighting of your own as patreus shoots and smashes a rubricae limb just to catch an errant warpbolt that hits through his armour and penetrates the carapace leaving him wounded and you are forced to provide cover with your cannon and drive off the foe while the guardsmen push unsupported.

As the battle continues screaming bolts of lasfire erupt across skies stained with eldrich warpfire as the imperial guard makes their breakthrough as cadian blood shines through and the cultists begin to break and splinter as pinpoint strikes from the russ company devastate fighting positions and shock troops smash into the trench line and begin a bloody bayonet duel.
You call for evac and Patreus limps off the battlefield in a chimera as your brothers raise an apothecary to aid him.
Your duty to your brothers done you raise you fury and fire full force into the rubricae lines as you shrug off stub fire as you smelt pauldrons with righteous plasma as you prove the decisive attack as the sight of imperial demigods smashing through their own astartes breaks the cultist line as they either retreat into disgusting holes and crevices or the more stalwart pull back to the safety of the inner citadel or fight to the death against the men of cadia.
The rubricae and the aspiring sorcerers use the cultists as a distraction to funnel into the citadel and save what is left of their forces.
The courtyard is won and the men are assembling.
It is time to breach the inner citadel and face whatever foul concotion the thousand sons have made.

81-crit-52-62.

As you prepare to strike the citadel and guard teams ready melta charges to breach the walls the crews are blasted into smithereens by great streams of warpfire as the citadel alights with eldrich energy spearing into the sky and alighting the vortex of the void.
The orders are screamed.
"PULL BACK GUARDSMEN"
A great withdrawal is marked with thousands of men redeployed in minutes as men huddle with lasguns under the shadow of the breached walls as they desperately entrench themselves against this terror.
The spire of warpfire shimmers and fades and all sound silences,
But then an eldrich screech forms that shatters ears and disrupts communication.
Suddenly vox systems alight.
"This..this is sergeant cassie of the 186th karskin we have failed in our duty the the..traitors have summoned something and its instoppable!"
the vox dies as the sounds from the tower cease.
A great rumbling then appears as guardsmen steady themselves and you of the astartes ready for battle in the name of sigismund.
At last the great doors of the tower smash open flying meters away as they crash with a thunderous sound on the floor.
Lasfire hits the opening and the concentration takes down the initial push as squads of rubricae fall to the burning wrath of man.
But then a great push of flesh streams towards the lines as you fire your cannon to stem the tide as a screaming horde of horrors stream forth in an unending tide forever reincarnating themselves in an unstoppable unchanging horde.
And then alongside the horrors comes a squad of terrors that would break mortal men.
5 exalted sorcerers come forth striding as titanic demigod mage warriors to bring death to the imperium and those who would dare defy them followed by lesser but no less deadly amounts of aspiring sorcerer understudies.

As the sorcerers join the fight great tendrils of eldrich fire erupt from their bodies as countless guardsmen and horrors are fried before their physic might.
You meet this push of fire with your own as the plasma emitted from your cannon strikes down the battlefield frying all in its path as the endless spawning horrors are annihilated as they clone straight back into the path of lasfire until your plasma finally hits its target as one of the sorcerers is stricken by your blast and erupts like a physic bomb frying one of his subordinate sorcerers in the blast zone.
The sons of prospero react to this with wrath and begin to switch targets and prepare to bring death to you however their laxity proves their downfall as like its namesake a leman russ demolisher brings ruin to the sorcerers and impacts in the center of their coven as pauldrons are shattered and ceramite cracks.
Opportunistic sharpshooters take their chances as the sorcerers lose limbs and bodily functions as their carapace is tested against the wrath of cadia and more of the aspiring sorcerers are cut off from the shields of the exalted and left to the lethal mercies of the guard sharpshooters as the sons ranks falter and rubricae fall back to being barely moving automata without a leader.
The vox screams over your helmet.

The daemonic horde smashes into the lines of the guard as horrors rip apart limbs and devour necks as an endless swarm of change melts all before it.
The reorganised sons of prospero make their stand as the russ tanks of the guard are telekinetically thrown across the trench line evaporating what poor souls stand in its path as emplacements are smashed and the line falters.
But it does not break as you move to do the will of dorn as you fire your cannon forcing the sorcerous sons into psy shields to dissapate a round of plasma and boltfire and vengeance grenades are thrown off course and instead detonating horrors and throwing limbs sky ward.
The guard fights further as bayonet trades with claw and rubricae warpbolt is reconciled with the wrathful fire of militarum bolter teams.
But salvation is at hand in this dark hour.

A great bolt of immaterial fire erupts as air pressure erupts and a purple cloud shrouds the area...

the appearance of the blood ravens reinvigorates the imperial forces as guardsmen surge forth and bayonets sever the many limbed monstrosities of chaos and the remaining russes of the armour fire a deadly barrage into the thousand sons as the last of the rubricae die as they fall to ashen remnants as dust seeps out of what remains of their blasted hulks.
The blood ravens continue their charge as terminators rip and tear through the daemonic forces and librarians scorch the sorcerer line.
But the hero of the hour is the black templars as you stride forth with the purpose of dorn and the wrath of sigismund and fire your cannon and eviserate countless horrors before turning your desperate wrath upon the thousand sons as they desperately try to defend in vain as your shot scorches ceramite and you reduce the amount of sorcerers to one exalted and his beaten lackeys as the sons line erupts in deathly warpfire that scatters around and the sky lights up with baleful purple as the sons use their last energies to blacken the skies.
As the skies fill with warpfire the wrath of the blood ravens is blunted as thunderhawks are pulled off course to avoid the physic backlash and keep their company safe.
The daemons spend what they can and surge once more in a final assault to batten down the imperial forces in a last stand as the last of the sons prepare a profane ritual.

The warriors of the militarum are smashed by the last charge of the abominations as guardsmen sell their lives dearly and the men of cadia pay the blood price for victory as the horrors push forth.
The blood ravens are bogged down as the storm continues and the thunderhawks fail to breach and are left impotent in the atmosphere but the terminators push forward as the line is held as horrors are fisted aside and hammered into the ground.
But once more you prove the decisive blow as you hit the horrors with your brothers and leave them decimated and broken as the purple horrors dissapate and the blue horrors are crushed underfoot.
but no matter the valour of the templars the push of the horrors has served its purpose as the last of the sons complete their scorceries and exit through a tear in space from the battlefield as librarians desperately try to track them.

The day is won.
the blood ravens have landed in force and the bastion is secure.
the men of cadia have paid dearly but have proved their might.
Victory for dorn.
Glory to sigismund.
For the emperor.

The traitor bastion was taken expertly by the superior siege tactics of the death korps as the cultists were decimated by expertly planned barrages blowing up ammo stockpiles causing catastrophic chain reactions that bloodied the cultists so much so that it was less a battle and more a clean up operation.

Tldr;black templar devastator kicks ork ass on armageddon and burns thraka and becomes a sword brethren because of it.now going on a crusade to liberate some worlds in the screaming vortex ending in a forge world of the dark mechanicus.
the quest premise is that you are a normalish marine.
but it is on fluff for everyone so while you can and have killed a herald of khorne that is also a small fry in the daemon hierarchy so we are a marine training to be the best in our weight class it seems.
you can rank up and do better things but this is it for now.
combat range is you can fight lesser daemons comfortably and also some less skilled chaos marines but veterans of the HH and anything higher than lesser daemon level will fuck you up.
And in xenos terms you can beat a tau warrior but will probably lose against a battlesuit.
and you are terribly equipped for fighting against eldar so i suppose you could take out what armour they have if their farseer is an absolute failure.

Chaplaincy will make sure you are seen as pure and cant be called chaotic and can also physically check that you havent picked up any memetic chaos bullshit.
to expand into a skill path like going and becoming a techmarine or choosing the path of the chaplain or studying to become a captain yourself will require you to speak to the veterans on the strike cruiser as discussions on ethos and promotion paths are difficult to set up in a battlefield situation.
but yes speaking to the chaplains will help you with the upgrade path as you cant do it if you stink of chaos bullshit and have no idea what chaplains are.

As you traverse the battlefields and range through the bombed out husks of habs you feel a growing sense of unease as the chaos presence is more deeply rooted as the now slavering cultists rush you with religious fury and do not stop even when wounded and push further in a blood fury driven more by their growing injuries.
As techpriests chant their words and burn incense your feeling of unease is alleviated somewhat as it looks however impossible it may be that the chaos corruption is retreating from the holy smoke as the symbols seem to lose their luster and eagles shine brighter in what remains of the solar light.
Before long however you enter the long halls of a mechanicus enclave and smash your way past whatever rabid servitors and ragged turrets operate until the priests make their way to the inner bastion and begin preparing the rite of operation.

The doors open with a mighty groan as chains and machinery shrugs off century old rust as the enclave reveals its prize.

You beg over the techpriest and they deactivate and allow you to check it over.
It seems expertly crafted and possesses perfect balance a fine tool for any swordsman.
the techpriests are uninterested in the sword which is more suited for a man of your stature and the blood ravens seem more entranced by the gene records of the mechanicus and the experiments done on what appears to be geneseed.

7 turns means that you get 7 rolls with the bonus before it runs out.
In short this means it reverts to a +5 after it runs out compared to a chainswords constant +10.
This means that if you end up in a protracted boarding operation or a large scale battle or otherwise get cut off-(faulty drop pod)
It wont end that well.

"Azikiel take my blade"
"Hm brother?"
"i am as the mortals say 'trading up'"
"ah thank you then brother"

You trade off your trusty blade and equip the perfectly aligned blade and exit the chamber as you feel a new drive towards the eternal crusade.
Your hearts strum with valour and hope for many glories to bring by the strength of your blade and the wrath of your cannon.
You have been vaunted as impressive for a marine but you feel you need to do more.
After all that would dishonour you and the chapter of course.

With your new thoughts contemplated you stride forth with purpose.

as the enclave is sealed once more and marked for excavation the blood ravens exit slouched and morose it seems.
But nevertheless you and your brothers are ready azikiel especially with your old blade as he shows the proper drive of a son of sigismund.
But even though the ravens are late the sons of dorn shall pull through.
You banish the thoughts from your mind as you move with purpose.
As you and the team navigate the wreck of this imperial world the cultists grow bolder with a great push that slows you down as they begin to find purchase and break the instruments of the techpriests.
You manage to make it to the final vault as you purify the hive scum that occupy the entrance to this area.
But soon auspex readings show ill as the techpriests perform their rites.
A great screaming noise smashes forward as the cultists have organised themselves into a mob of chaotic malcontents and malformed mutants.
Bolters are cocked by the ravens and you hum your cannon as you prepare to send this scum back to the grasp of the gods.

An example would be in a general battle it is rolling lets say.

Fighting against chaos with guard and blood raven allies.
1st roll-you and your squad.
2nd roll-guard roll.
3rd roll-ravens.
your current guard bonus is +10
so if you rolled 40 and the DC was 45 itd come out as 50 and be a minor pass.

In a melee fight it would be like this.

>roll 1d100-you.
current bonus with blade is +30 thanks to the blood angel bonus.

so if you rolled 40 and the DC is 60 you would pass at 70.

Also while the bonuses seem ludicrously good this is all off fluff terms and power swords are literally monomolecular reality scythes.
But a DC against lets say.
A lord of change in melee would be 95.
So yeah.
The bonuses are proportional to what the enemy get.
And yes you will curbstomp minor greenskins and mortals.
But they are mortals and not usually what marines are sent against.
Tyranids and ork warbosses will still be a fucking pain and trying to kill a greater daemon will have you dead as a doornail and resting with the emperor alongside the souls of those who said "whatre ya gonna do stab me?" to an eversor.

Your brothers fight with no fear as azikiel uses your old blade to sever a dozenfold cultists with a single divine strike.
You not to be outmatched perform perfectly as well as your cannon fires with the wrath of dorn and Patreus calls out priority mutants to which you see dead fast.
Amadiel uses his launcher to great effect as blobs of the chaos horde splits up in the urban fight.
The valour of the templars is cast to nought however as the blood ravens are smashed by the cultists as many crude weapons find purchase within their armour and crack ceramite as the warriors do their best to hold even through wounds and blood.

Expanding on that you can lower the greater daemon DC from the 90s and 100s to the 70s and 80s through time spent in the cages and speaking with the veterans in the chapter on the cruiser.
Speaking to the other sword brethren will allow for advances in your CQC and ranged equally.
Speaking to the techmarines will allow you to go mechanicus route and eventually play with servoskull scouts and craft and maintain your own shite.
Chaplaincy path would allow you to go chaplain and be full fuck the chaos and xenos and provide minor assist to CQC skills. but mostly maintain purity.

Speaking to captain oberon will allow you to potentially eventually go into the captain route and if we run for long enough and interest doesnt fade lead your own company and kill shit in the name of the emprah across the galaxy.

As you lay down fire the corrupted men of the imperium push harder as blood and bones fly.
The blood ravens.the sons of auerila take their first casualty as the mass of the cultists is too much to hold against and the ceramite of a marine falls as the sheer mass of cultists leaves him alone in the melee and his armour falls from so many targets.Even the most stalwart warrior will fall to a million blades is a lesson the blood ravens learn well as soon their pauldrons are stripped and the remaining squad even has their internal black carapace tested by lucky strikes.
But due to you and the templars the rest of the squad survives and amadiels vengeance launcher lives up to its title as bloody retribution strikes the mass of the cultists as plasma blasts funnel the cultists for grenades to strike and decimate their tight positions.
Eventually either through cowardice or terror the cultists break into a bloody rout retreating back into the urban mass with burning wrath on their heels.
The blood ravens are shown now out of the heat of battle as they sit and break out emergency stopgaps for healing as their sergeant stands with what looks like thousands of cracks in his plate some seeping with his own blood as he loads his bolter and stands vigil over his fallen brothers.
The muttered yell over their helmet vox for an apothecary would be inaudible to a mortal but with your enhanced hearing and the loss of helmet you hear just fine.

The techpriests look rather nonchalant about the affair as the door starts opening.
"I thought better of astartes than to fall to rabble wielding equipment even the most inexperienced adept would fail to fall to."
the speech of the techpriest enrages both the ravens in wrath of their fallen brother but you also of the insult laid upon the adeptus astartes and the disrespect shown to the fallen.

The assault towards the stronghold went off without a hitch as the great blow of the armored guard and predator tanks of the templars smashed through the light ranks of chaos as traps were crushed underneath mechanical might and infantry hunter killer teams were smashed by aerial domination provided by the wrath of the Valkyries and the power of the emperors thunderhawks.

The terminators of the blood ravens suffered deeply however as the thousand sons laid deadly traps in their wake and marines fell to warpfire runes that burned astartes alive in their own armour.
Due to the strength of the traps the blood ravens soon found themselves besieged by daemonic horrors that had been summoned and caged ready for the poor saps that would find them.
Unfortunately gabriel angelos rather than risk his brothers called a retreat and set up a line to hold what is in there back.

no but veterans or emperor champions could use it in a better way than us.

moreover it is a good gesture of humility towards the most experienced warriors. or at least that's what I think.

people can still change vote and decide to keep it, plus it would stay in the armory.

I assume that the vets already have better gear and all, and especially the EC; since don't Crusades already have a relic blade for when a Champion appears?

just to say that if you shove your sword away it will be in your personal storage.
i know where you are going with the whole help the company business but everyone else who is a sword brethren is rocking termie armour or that artificer plate and have their own power blades.
Oberon got his own sword from inheriting it from the previous captain as its his badge.
The templars dont begrudge marines for going finders keepers.
Hell that how a lot of templars get a kick ass sword to begin with.
and honestly having a good sword probably will just get you a pat on the back from your brothers.

You are a sword brethren remember.
You are a veteran.
if you want to utilize your blade more just spend time in the cages improving your cqc strength.
And while your company lacks a champion well other than the captain that is the strike cruiser holds a relic blade in preparation for that.

"this should be easy eh lads."
"can it guardsman you dont want the traitors spotting us and shoving a axe in your frakking face."
"aight sarge."
"silence men we will be upon them soon."

The banter of the guardsmen is sparse as you approach the walls of the dread bastion with your brothers as you move as silent as possible alongside what forces were found.
You and your brothers are moving alongside the elite survivors of the cadians of the previous battles and one unlucky commissar a squad of the blood ravens is along as well to bring the wrath of the litany of fury if things escalate that badly.

You stalk towards the dread walls of plasteel as once imperial fortifications are strewn with the symbols of the dark gods and disgustingly the bodies of guardsmen and civilians as skulls are hung on poles in eightfold patterns and still alive guardsmen murmur incoherently with objects in their bodily entrances and patterns of purple covering them in a grotesque display of what can be called chaos art.
The sights sicken many and fill others with bloodlust or fear.
But it is inconsequential to you as a astartes as you know no fear and suffer no taint as you move with renewed purpose to bring wrath upon the traitors as a lightly defended part of the wall is spotted and the guard prepares to open a silent breach in the lines.

The rubricae feel this death down the line and slow their shots which allow your brothers to blissfully pass unhindered to cover and begin firing into the cultist line.

As the blood ravens fire in the rubricae line you gain a breather and respond to the sons of prospero with your sanctified plasma shattering ceramite and burning through the rubricae line.
The sorcerers of prospero care naught for your fire but instead turn their wrath on the ravens as their sergeant is ripped from his armour and crushed by telekinetic might to the despair of his squad.
The attack of the sorcerers while powerful was ill advised as now you have a critical opening and you take it firing your wrath in the form of a burning stream of plasma that erases the TS sorcerers from existence as their ritual fails from the lack of power.

You have defeated the TS but the enemy must know of your location.

From the swirling firestorm that now engulfs part of the enemy stronghold come a force of men incomprehensible from foe to mortal eyes but due to your nature you see the markings of cadia and the wrathful abandon of gleeful cadians as they charge towards the breach point with a horde of cultists and mutants on their tails.

The retreat of the cadians is no less impressive as their experience shines through as sprinting men transform from a ferocious pace to a dive for cover to engage a overextending mutant or cultist squad and push back to a retreat in a instant as the elite of cadia manage to make it to the breach and begin digging in to weather the storm of chaos which will come at the imperium will eldrich might.

A thousand voices cry out foul oaths and chants.
"SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE."
"FEEL THE PLEASURE.
"CHANGE WITHOUT END"
"THE ROT LOVES YOU"
As the followers of the dark gods come shambling in their droves as misshapen mutants of many limbs and tentacles shout with gargled throats and mutated bodies.
Lasfire meets these chants before being followed by your own voice.
"NO PITY! NO REMORSE! NO FEAR!"
As you light your plasma cannon to march and fire into the chaos horde erasing flesh and bone in milliseconds alongside burning bolts of lasfire that shear off limbs and whistling bolters that slam into the largest mutants as they fall before its wrath.
The blood ravens sing their own response
"KNOWLEDGE IS POWER"
As they fire bolt shells into the mass of cultists as the eightfold paths of khorne fall before the holy might of the astartes and the changing flesh of tzeench falls before chainswords and physical might.
The guard opens up with the wrath of ten million as the cadians stand to hold the breach like they have done since legends walked the imperium.
Long las shots blow the skulls open of the slavering cultists of the dark prince and flamers purify the rot of the lord of disease as pus is burned and bacterium incinerated.
But no matter the amount of fire the cultists drive on not concerned with loyalties and duty like heretics or traitors but the sheer madness of broken men being tortured by the whims of the dark gods.

The battlefield is covered in blood and hues of purple and blue as the chaos advance is halted by the might of the imperium.
Bolt shells meet stub guns and the vengeance launcher hits its targets with wrathful fury.
The bolters of the blood ravens scream with fury as the gyrojets burn through the air to their targets as ribcages explode from within and many shells go straight through the ragged scraps of armour and penetrate the unlucky foe behind.
The fury of the cadians is not far behind as rapacious lasfire rings as their own sergeant screams over the vox while parrying an axe before severing spines and bones with his wrath.
Your own fury is staunched as the mass of the mutants slow your burning plasma and take multiple bolt shells to put down as the push rewards a sublime kill with nothing but more damned souls to send back to the warp.
The force seems overwhelming as cultists swarm over your lines slicing ceramite and shocking you back as azikiel takes a stub shot to the arm knocking his strike off course and allowing a mutant to close as the battlefield desends into hatred and CQC fury.
Cresting the field however unassialed comes the vengeful fury of the corrupted as before you and your brothers lumber beasts beyond mortal realities.

As the beast charges you parry its charge with the heart of a son of dorn and every one of its strikes fail to pierce your indomitable will.
Your sword shears through flesh and erases the tentacles of the spawn.
But then you see your chance.
You charge towards it screaming a furious battlecry.

Your sword impacts into the chest wound you opened with your wrath and rips through flesh and bone as you tax your power field as your sword splits the foe from spine to bottom as you blow hits soil and you duck back just to see the horrible abomination fall into a pile of flesh.
The loss of their shock troops breaks the back of the cultists and they in pained shrieks pull back to their lines as they continue to trade stub fire with the wrath of the militarum.

The spearhead of the attack smashes through the minimal defences chaos has set outside the wall as the mighty baneblade restored by the mechanicus unleashes 11 barrels of hell upon the foe as chaos is left de fanged before the might of the militarum armour.
The thousand sons attempt a counterattack with eldrich might and warpfire strikes before their positions are detonated as sudden thunderhawk bombardment forces them into cover.
You jump with your brothers out of the thunderhawk at low altitude and begin firing against the walls as you erase defending scum with contemptuous ease as the rest of your templar battle brothers land and unleash bolter fire of their own as the company of the heirs of sigismund fight and prepare to give their lives in the service of the eternal crusade as the rabble of chaos is smashed before their might.
Following on the heels of this attack the blood ravens storm onto the battlefield with predator and rhino as sword and shield alongside the pentient men of krieg.
Bolter fire sunders mutants and the librarius of the blood ravens flay flesh from bone in a storm of mental might.
The men of krieg never to be found wanting charge vehemently at the chaos lines as they smash through pitiful defences without pause and in the blink of an eye go from a bloody bayonet fight to setting up mortars and trenches for the prolonged fight.

The men of cadia are not found wanting either as they charge into the foe eliminating priority targets and erasing the foes on the field.

As the battle rages the templars make their attack as dozens of black armoured demigods launch a assault upon the defenders on the walls as bolt shells fly and chainswords hunger.
But the templars have their assault blunted as covens of the sons of prospero use eldrich knowledge to erect great shields that dissipates bolt fire and staunches the wrath of the imperium.
However while the shields are strong the templars turn their wrath onto the walls as great barrages of boltfire strike into the main gate as the defenders are knocked off and fall to their death.
But the true punch rolls forth as the mighty baneblade fires its cannon into a psy shield breaking the focus and shortening the shield on the wall. The opening is exploited by the men of the guard as lasfire rackets into cultists as blood and bones are erased in solar fire.
But the true decisive blow comes from your own hands as you spot your opening and sight the gate.
As you fire decades old plasteel is melted before your might as you breach the gate with your cannon and erase the pitiful phalanx behind it as the baneblade takes its own chance and rolls through with thunderous might and unleashes 11 barrels of death into the foe as the guard storm the breach in its wake and templars draw swords to turn the tide.

The baneblade storms into the breach as cultists are evaporated before the demolisher and erased by multilazers as thousands of guardsmen follow it to glory as cultists fall to bayonets and lasfire perforates through chaos spawns as the mutated abominations fall before the wrath of the militarum.
The thousand sons turn about to deliver death upon the guard when suddenly their rubricae are engaged as the templars make a wrathful push and warpfire bolters are shattered as chainswords begin their deadly dance as the sons of dorn face the scions of magnus and individual duels erupt across the field as initiates sink their fangs into a rubricae pauldron just to have to dodge as it returns its own wrath with grasping ashen hands.
You yourself sprint through your breach firing wildly into the chaos ranks as you bloodily decimate the foe and abuse your auspex to the full force of its abilities as you triangulate vox dispatches to deliver superheated plasma to decisive targets as a counterattack headed by a chaos spawn is blunted or a makeshift ritual is blown off course as your shots erase skin and flesh or melt symbols and oaths before the might of the imperium

On the left front the men of krieg have smashed through the walls with the might of ordinance and spirit as they sink their bayonets into faces as they push as an iron advance batting aside all those in the name of their pentience.
The blood ravens provide the punch to the tide however as daemonic counterattacks are splashed aside by librarian intervention and chapter master gabriel strides forward at the head of his ravens as the blood of aurelia smashes all in its path as cultists and the forsaken sons of prospero fall before godsplitter.
On the right the men of cadia push in a rapid assault as their depleted regiments are wounded but no less potent as the defenders of the imperium stride in lascarbines firing as the mortals of chaos are banished back to the dark gods.
But all this is naught but background vox to you as you push forwards smashing through the cultists and harassing chaos spawn as you act in conjunction with your brother devastators to put down the beasts before they can reap their fatal toll.
The intitates of the templars are led by the rest of the valiant sword brethren as chainswords smash into plate and sorcerers are distracted by the stalwart souls of sigismund.
But now the battle turns as from the main citadel comes more reinforcements as cultists swarm in droves showing worse mutations as arms are replaced by tentacles and daemonhosts charge with meter long tongues and eldrich might.
Hot on the heels of this push comes the exalted sorcerers of the thousand sons being led by a blue clad sorcerer bedecked in powerful plate and brimming with warpfire.
"Ah.... the sonnnsss of the imperrium come to disssturb meee Comee theennn Mortalllss feelll the wrattthh of the lorrrd of channgee."
Great spouts of warpfire emanate from the lords hands and an entire regiments worth of men are decimated in an instant.

As the lord strides forth his blows are forced into psy shields as he retreats behind his power as the guard fire with all their might against his position as the enemy reinforcements and his cult fall around him as his shield fails to cover the mutants and cultists in their entirety or a wayward sorcerer takes his luck with a doombolt before being punished by solar fire to the face.

The black templars continue to perform the emperors work as the traitorous psykers fall before the might of the imperium as the last of the rubricae fall but not before using their automated strength to crack helmets and fell the intitates with unholy might.
But the true blow comes from the last of the sorcerers as they use a counterattack from chaos spawn to smash past the guard and reunite with their stronger comrades as the ranks of the sons bolster.

You yourself turn your shot onto the psy shield as you ready to penetrate the guard of the sons.
You spot an opening and fire into the shield blasting the energies of the immaterium with the burning strength of the mechanicus.
But your shot connects and pierces as an exalted sorcerer falls before your shot breaking the prosperan phalanx as lasfire strikes into the breach and many cultists die to your aid.
However the new sorcerers arrive into the phalanx and quickly close it as rubricae stride forth and ready bolters to spit death to the emperor.

The rubricae fire hell into the ranks of the imperium as the charge of the templars is halted and initiates stow blades for bolters as the fight devolves into furious carnage.
You attempt to turn the tide once more but your shots are blown off as you and your brothers take cover against a furious counterattack of eldrich might as lightning spews from the sons fingers and great storms decimate the ground.
However the storms may be fierce and decimate astartes but the mortal men of the guard are ready to smash through any opposition as the sorcerers divert their barrage as the mighty baneblade breaks onto the front as 11 barrels of hell decimate the rubricae line as the automata of the sons break and shatter to ash before such heavy ordinance.
The mortal man does not waver either as they reload and aim before firing in ranks as the lines of the cultists devolve into a ranged charnelhouse as the drilled ranks of the guard prove their superiority over mere chaos rabble and their mutated allies.

great lines of fire erupt into the baneblade as it strides forth like a true champion of the field as sorcerers desperately attempt to redirect the fire of the rubricae into the lines of the templars but the rate of fire from the guard makes this effort futile as the ranks of initiates manage to close and slam like the fist of god into the rubricae as limbs fly before chainswords and dust disintegrates before power fields.
Not to be outdone the guard continues its rapacious rate of fire as the cultists fail to make any headway as the sheer amount of lasers creates a wall of guns that chaos cannot penetrate.

but the sorcerers have their own plans as they begin mass ritualistic signals to bolster their forces however they are foiled as you stand tall and erase their concentration with rapid fire plasma shots that distract the sorcerers from their profane rituals and halt the machinations of chaos only as they only manage to summon lesser horrors rather than what they wished as they now turn their wrath once more upon the might of mankind to reap a millennia lost vengeance.

The sorcerers stride onto the field unleashing great streams of warpfire that smelts flesh and erases blood as guardsmen die from their blood boiling under their skin to templars faltering in the face of this rapacious assault.
but no matter how tough the sons are they are too few to save all as the templars rip their blades through faces and slice marrow as the cultists are torn though with righteous fury.
The guard not to be outshone fire barrages into the rubricae line forcing them back under sheer weight of numbers as the commissariat shouts orders and officers rally and the baneblade drives forth crushing a chaos spawn under its mighty treads.
You and your own squad aim for a shot but your righteous fury is halted as a bolt of warpfire strikes your chest and you are hurled back dropping your cannon as you quickly draw steel and bat aside cultists before repositioning with your cannon as amadiel lays down his own barrage with his launcher.

The sorcerers of the thousand sons make their presence known as the wrath of prospero incinerates the templars as initiates fall before warp fire and the blackened plate of the templar is sundered before the ashen might of tzeenches tricked.
But the sorcerers have made a fatal error in their arrogance as the imperial guard have made their decisive blow as the baneblade smashes into the flank of the rubricae firing its cannons as the demolisher hits the center of the coven butchering all in its path.
The remaining sorcerers scatter but you stand for dorn in their path as their retreat halts their psy shield allowing your plasma and bolt fire to connect as they are boiled in their own armour.
The last of the sorcerers willingly sacrifice the last of the mutants and more cultists as they retreat and seal the gate of the inner citadel with eldrich power as the guard move forth and the baneblade moves forth.
You prime your cannon and help what brothers you can as the men of the guard organise themselves into drilled lines as from the back the might of the militarum is brought forth as chimerae storm in unloading lascannon teams.

The assault of the imperium has been a success.
Gabriel angelos was a storm on the battlefield as he smashed through cultists and sundered mutants with mighty blows.
The push of his advance succeeded in defeating the foe at a blistering pace as the losses were lower than expected with only half of the regiments of kreig decimated a new record for low casualties amongst the death corps.
The blood ravens lost 9 of their own however as unlucky brothers fell to the grasping hands of mutation or the bloody hands of the corrupted.

The men of cadia had a harder time however as their push turned into a ferocious battle as mortar shell and lasfire shot across the field and the men of cadia prove their worth in blood as even outnumbered and outmatched they survive with heads held high and lasrifles heated.

The battle for the stronghold has been won.
you can see thousands of men burning the dead and the taint of corruption away as the librarius of the blood ravens purify the land.
You are currently dug in facing the mighty psy shield of the thousand sons as the commanders debate how to breach and secure victory.

>80-55.

As guardsmen sprint into position and firing lines are assembled you stand with your brothers hand on cannon ready to see what remains of the chaos presence on this world annihilated and victory assured for the imperium.

The sky lights up as a great beam of light screams from the heavens to purify what remains of chaos on this world.

The spire of the citadel wracks with power as eldrich lightning covers it and a great pulse activates as nearby mortal psykers begin to scream and claw out their eyes and the librarius of the ravens drop to their knees and begin screaming litanies and taxing their hoods to the utmost.

The lance hits the spire as burning fire impacts your breast as the spattering of molten metal showers the battlefield burning helmets and searing unlucky eyes.

But the tower is destroyed as the lance dissipates to view a massive crater and no trace of the thousand sons or their vile servants.

>80-dc 50 passed.

A great cheer comes from the line as guardsmen lift up hands at the victory for the imperium and the salvation of their fallen comrades and initiates ease their battle tension and begin sighting the battlefield once more for attacks.

>dc 10 passed-Summon Kairos.
>dc 50 passed -summon greater LOC
>dc 60 failed.-summon lesser LOC
>dc 70 failed.-summon Herald of T
>dc 80 failed.-summon some horrors
>Oh boy.

Suddenly a great scream strikes the air as warpfire emits from the crater in a horrible plume as celebrating guardsmen are knocked back by the force and templars quickly ready bolters as the ravens jump into combat stances.

Out of the warpfire comes striding a monster.
A horror beyond sight and comprehension.
"YOUUU MORRRTALLLS DARREEE TO FOILLL TTTHEE CHANNGER OFF WAYS!!"
A great avian skull screeches in a billion mouths as a great staff erupts from its grasp and the first line of guardsmen is boiled in their own flesh as one of the chosen of tzeench makes its foul way onto the field.

As the lord goes down a thunderous noise erupts as hundreds of bolters fire in unison smashing into the daemon and perforating its wings as it screetches in agony as gyrojets explode covering the beast in its own blood.
You jump back with your brothers and join the barrage using auspex and vox systems to the max to smash the daemon into the ground as you fire your cannon with wild abandon and managing to hit with 1 shot of 7 as you pockmark its staff and burn its legs as the monster rises using eldrich knowledge to divert shells into the line of the imperium and causing warp madness across the line as the men of the guard panic in the face of a true champion of the gods.

You spy your target as the stress of the war gets to the daemon and the sustained lasfire picks away at its shield long enough that you fire directly at it and your shot connects.

You and gabriel charge in unision as you barrel it as it attempts to rise and smash blade and hammer into it.
You blade slices through its neck shearing energies and shielding as godsplitter smashes into its head as the skull of the creature breaks and its head shatters as it screams its last in a drone that shakes the field.
As the monster dies it alights with warpfire and gabriel grabs and pulls you back as it explodes with a mighty pulse that shakes the field and bursts the skulls of hundreds in a final death cry.

Your brothers run over.
"WELL DONE BROTHER"
"WELL FOUGHT BRETHREN"

The day is won and the sons departed.

Ive got my notes down as training 10 times with melee for a +3 bonus but that can be doubled by training another 10 times.
same with ranged in principle.
also the more time you spend in cages the more general damage you do.
Like fighting the LOC you were slashing at its feet and wings with crits but even though you rolled well you were doing the best possible with devastator melee training and fucking good sword.
so the progression will probably do this.
>devastator melee-you-+0
>initiate-+3
>assault+6
>sword brethren+9
>Specialist+12
>captain+15.

And so on so forth for ranged but with ranged you already start with a +5 bonus that gives you a +10 with your cannon and then we add on the other bonuses and it works to a +17.

Hey QM, since we trained under a intiate who made us learn the Codex Astartes shouldn't we already have some knowledge of it? Or am I just dumb and not read that we already have it?
>>
>>3279592
You know that we had the choice of sticking to range like the Devastator we are?

Well getting rid of the ennemy supplies seems pretty important. I thought of going there after we learning some basic lore on Slaanesh to help us slay some heretic futas.
>>
It is possible for us to change basic class or role? Like devastator-tactical-assault
>>
For those who can't or don't want to look at the pastebin, here's all our bonuses:

Ranged = +27 (Origin, Mentor, Armaments and Skills and Talents {SnT}) possibly more due to Devastator specialty(?)

Melee = +32 [+10 after 7 turns] (Armaments and chat with Bangles and talk with Brothers)

Situational rolls:
IG: +10, IF with Steel Legion = +12

Vs Chaos and associates: +5 to combat

Vs mutants, greenskins and mechanical monstrosities: +5 to combat

Detecting corruption: +5

Black Templar: +3

Dire situations: +3

>>3279749
There was a result that QM confirmed that all chances of us staying a traditional Devastator are gone, in practice we're more of a Tactical Sargeant now
>>
>>3279765
i wish we can lead another squad like tactical or assault for change of pace if QM and the other players agree ofc

Just to say it is fully possible if you ask to change into a more traditional tac marine.
Right now you lead.
Patreus,azikiel,ferron.-bolter and chainswords.Exc azikiel as he has your old sword
Amadiel-vengeance launcher.

You lead your brothers as due to the BT rules of squadding up based on friendships rather than doctrine means that they stick by you because they view you as a good leader and comrade.
As was done earlier you can give them new equipment such as you giving your shit to amadiel and azikiel but it is fully possible to switch things up so you can grab a plasma gun or bolter and run.
4 tacs and 1 mobile dev.
or keep things as.
2 mobile devs and 3 tacs.
or go off the deep end and smoke weed and run.
4 assaults and 1 dev.
if you wish to get all your brothers killed in a really silly formation.

quick clarification
amadiel and you are mobile devs as you carry easy to fire and life weapons like the launcher which from the THQ space marine could be used by tacs and was smaller but still packed a blow.
you carry a plasma which is also running off the more mobile rules.
if you switch to a lascannon or a heavy bolter you will lose mobility in exchange for that anti armour or infantry power.

>>3279765
Thanks for the compilation but to clarify.
the full ranged bonus is taken into account when you go into those critical fights like vs the LOC otherwise its counted as a plus 17 right now due to the base skills and + your chaos purge bonus.

This is to reflect that in the templar way of war in these major battles your squad has to switch between melee and ranged frequently especially vs the horde enemies so the full ranged and melee bonus isnt taken in.
>>
ill give 2 hours to settle the mission before i start a new thread so get your votes in.
>>
Vote for 3 tacs 2 devs
Wulfrik plasma gun and mastercrafted power sword
Azikiel plasma gun and old sword
Amadiel vengeance launcher
Old plasma cannon to Patreus or Ferron depend on who has better ranged skills

You are one squad in a 100-150 strong company with only 5 apothecaries in it.
They are being used to shuttle around the front and care for the recovered gene seed as well as heal wounded marines.
there simply isnt enough apothecaries for your standard codex deployment.
>>
