How do you affix your patches on your bags? What do you do if there’s no velcro?
Pic related, ordered on April 17th, only arrived in Canada yesterday. Likely getting a new daypack this weekend.
>>
>>1509692
>How do you affix your patches on your bags?
velcro

>What do you do if there’s no velcro?
if your bag doesn't have velcro it's shit
>>
Just sew on some velcro.

>>1509693
Not everyone plays airsoft and larps
>>
>>1509695
No, it's true, if your bag doesn't have velcro and MOLLE webbing, it's shit.
>>
>>1509698
PALS webbing shure. Velcro no unless you're larping. There's a lot of great molle gear. There's little with velcro that isn't something specifically made for the military or retarded larpers like airsofters and people that buy 5.11 gear.
>>
>>1509702
Camping and backpacking are inherently larp.
>>
>>1509703
Maybe for you. It's a hobby without role playing and lifestyle for others.
>>
>>1509692
Just sew them on with needle and thread. Seam seal them afterwards.
>>
>>1509704
You don't live out in the woods or mountains. You don't have to do any of this shit to survive. You are literally going out of your way to make your life more difficult because you enjoy the experience. It's LARP.

There's nothing wrong with that but you're a mental child if you need to delude yourself into believe that it's actually super serious and you're a REAL MAN or some shit.
>>
>>1509702
5.11 not so much. The best quality backpack I have was made by them.
>>
>>1509708
There's literally nothing wrong with them. They're extremely solid bags. Maybe a bit overpriced, and you could argue they're too heavy for backpacking (if you're a weakling). Anon doesn't like them because he has a mental caricature of who he thinks buys their bags. He can't enjoy things if he doesn't like the other people who also enjoy those things because he has yet to grow up.
>>
>>1509707
I like nature and it's great excersize you fat larper.
>>1509708
That's a shame because there's way better packs.
>>
>>1509710
And? You don't need to go out into the elements to exercise. Buy some weights, go for a jog. Why would you go out into the woods where you lack the abundance and easy survival of modern society?

>I like nature
Exactly. It's fucking LARP. Grow up and lose the self-importance.
>>
>>1509709
I agree, I have the rush72, and actually just grabbed the rush24 because its on sale on amazon, they are expensive but worth it for sure.
>>
>>1509692
Is there anyone making an /out/ patch right now?
>>
>>1509709
Defending a chink made peice of shit pack by calling me kid. K, buddy.
>>1509717
You can like something on your own. Crazy idea for the tablet generation.
>>
>>1509723
go wash that vag out, your all pissy
>>
>>1509723
>Defending a chink made peice of shit pack by calling me kid. K, buddy.
Try actually pointing out a flaw. You won't though. You'll probably just make up some dumb shit in response to this.

>You can like something on your own
Yeah, I am capable of liking things no matter who else enjoys it. Unlike you apparently. You should consider taking your own advice

>uuuuuuuh no thing is bad because only """larpers""" like thing
riveting argument
>>
>>1509719
I have the Rush 72. The only real complaint I have about it, is that it's heavy as fuck.
>>
>>1509726
>Try actually pointing out a flaw
It's made in China. At least get something milspec if you want that kind of gear. Tactical Tailor, FP, Mystery Ranch, etc.

In this case you can say something is bad because a certain group like it. The one thing airshitters are good for is a gear filter.
>>
>>1509729
>It's made in China
Why does it matter where it's made if it's made well? Seriously, show me a flaw in the quality of the equipment. You won't because you can't.

>B-but china always bad
Not an argument.
>>
>>1509730
China IS always bad... No exception.
>>
>>1509733
If I was enough of a faggot to save brainlet wojak pictures, this is when I'd post one.
>>
>>1509733
Why?
>>
>>1509735
That's the typical response from chicom supporters. Support communism or you're dumb. If you're critical of chicom trash you're just dumb too. Funny hivemind.
>>
i dont have any patches, but i guess needle and thread will do if you dont have velcro
>>
>>1509736
Why would a pack made of materials from unknown origin by child labors be bad? Gee I don't anon?
>>
>>1509737
If you don't want to buy a bag from China, that's fine. There are legitimate economic and moral concerns. But pretending that the bag itself is worse quality solely because it was made in China is complete and utter brainlet shit.

Deflecting by claiming someone calling you out is a communist is also brainlet shit.
>>
>>1509740
Unless its machine sewing with cnc its going to be worse.
>>
>>1509739
All chinese manufacturers do that shit, right?
>>
>>1509742
Considering they're all owned by the government yes.
>>
>>1509745
I suggest you read up on it. Because you couldn't be more wrong.
>>
>>1509741
Show me the proof, brainlet. Seriously, point out the flaw in a 5.11 bag's quality. No vague "it's probably worse", "there's probably something wrong", "it's technically worse because", or "I found this one bag on Reddit that slipped through QA, therefore". I want actual fucking evidence you utter cuck. But you won't supply it. Because you can't.
>>

>>
>>1509764

for sure it is, Im lightweight backpacker so I noticed that shit right away, but for throwing around and fishing and whatnot I've been very pleased, cant wait for the 24 to get here actually, Im wondering how my big ass laptop is gonna fit
>>
>>1509774
Let's see, looking at the one-star reviews for the RUSH12 (if which there are 19 out of a total over 1000 reviews), I see some people complaint they don't like the design of a bag they for some reason decided to buy (one person complaining that it has too many straps, why the fuck did you buy it then?), a few counterfeits (which has nothing to do with 5.11 and everything to do with the Amazon seller), a few people getting used bags that were damaged and had stuff inside (again, nothing to do with the quality of the bag itself, but the amazon seller), some dumbass who broke one of the buckles and blames the bag, and one dipshits who broke one of his zippers.

You'll have to excuse me for not being impressed by this evidence.

I mean I generally buy American when I can for obvious reasons. Hell, I go beyond that and buy local when I can. But it's just dumb to pretend that American companies are somehow qualitatively better than others. I've gotten PLENTY of "MADE IN AMERICA!" stuff that was complete garbage. God damn.

Actually... I wonder if there’s a day pack I could get in Canada that either already has Velcro or is suitable for doing so. Fine with around $100, probably buy through MEC or some other local shop around Halifax.
>>
>>1509692
Got mine about a week ago. Been thinking of making some pins of this. Was also thinking of making some pins of the 4chan clover for st. patricks day. Unfortunately, every place I've looked into won't do one-offs and only does batches.

Before velcro was common, patches were sewn in a spiral pattern along the edge. Alternately you can do a couple of single stitches around, like 6-7 equally spaced should do it.

Iron on velcro is a bitch to sew. If you use outdoor thread there's no need to use any adhesive. It's just a patch, this doesn't require very high level skills.

Now, any good civilian folding shovels? No?

Literally anything meant for snow is light years better than millshit. Otherwise it's useless larp shit.
>>
>>1514900

I have a lot of experience with those brands minus the last one. Mystery Ranch and TAD both makes non mill gear with pals webbing. All HPG makes is civilian gear...

Why would I ever have a need for milspec folding shovel? I'm not digging trenches to have a fantasy battle. The only need I have had for a shovel is for snow.

Yes. These idiots have never handled something made by 5.11 simply because their products (At least my own Rush 72) are made in VIETNAM, not China. It is by far the best backpack I've ever owned, not only because of the build quality, but also because of how the internal pockets and PALS webbing are laid out. The only complaint I have about it, is that the front flap tends to sag of the main compartment isn't filled with something.

They are almost always brand new companies or companies just starting to make the type of shit you are buying also a ton of rebranding of other generic shit. Really bad quality control.

>>
Swapped out the blue pack for the dark grey one. Bought a sewing kit (I need one anyway) and sealer. I just need the actual Velcro strips now.
>>
>>1523508
For actually sewing them on, should I do full strips and sew them in 3–5 places or the full width + sealant, or should I only do about 1 or 2 strips depending on size per patch location?
Top of the bag also seems more visible than the lower middle.
>>
>>1520325
Dont listen to him, anon. I really appreciate you doing this. I like our little community here.
>>
>>1523997
Also I should try to keep the bag as stretchy as it can be so probably having small velcro squares for patches would be better. The main material is 220-denier nylon.

I have a 72 as well, awesome pack just got the 24 when it was on sale, great for everyday shit, laptop etc, I wish it had better compression straps but they are added easily. 511 makes some great packs.
>>
>>1519933
Do you have any more anon? I love it!
>>
>>1528942
I love the 72, man. I've also considered getting the Rush 12, although I'll have to nigger rig an extra set of compression straps. Aside from that, it's perfect for short fishing trips and the like. You really can't go wrong with 5.11.
>>
>>1528948
The 12 was just a little too small for my needs I think, if you do grab one post some pics, have you fucked with any of their other gear? The pack was so nice I started looking at their pant offerings.
>>
>>1528952
At the moment, I only own the Rush 72, which I haven't had to fuck with in any way because it's perfect for the kind of things I usually do.
That basically being dicking around in the woods identifying plants and fungi, picking them, fishing at fairly obscure locations, wild camping, etc.
>>
Another eagle has landed, thank you very much patch Santa anon.
>>
>>1528953
I use the 72 for fishing mainly, I can fit everything - folding chair and two collapsible rods and the rest of the bullshit all inside, for some reason I've always hated lashing shit to the outside of packs.
>>
>>1528965
I'm not a huge fan of lashing shit to the outside either, but when it comes to fishing poles, even the telescopic ones, I have a fucking autistic tick that makes me strap them to the outside every time. That, and sleeping pads or sleeping bags. Depends on the situation.

Patch Santa here. Once you have a design, a couple of emails and $50-90 later they show up at your house in a plastic bag. Money depends on how many, what kind of backing and how many different colours. The toughest part is the initial design/finished file.
>>
We need a patch of pushing a jannie off a cliff.

>>1529096

That's the point, Ted wasn't wacky to begin with, just some normal dude with strong ideals that had some fuckery done to his brain by spooks.

I was originally intending mine for backpack, but was having difficulty envisioning where I would most enjoy it being placed on the Osprey. But after a couple of days what I think to be the perfect place for it came to me. It's a tight fit, but works better when the front is fully filled out. I think I can successfully squeeze it in.
>>
>tfw going camping/hiking this weekend and still haven't put the outclub patch on my pack
Shit. I need proper velcro strips that can be sewn on and not the stick-on stuff that is much tougher.
>>
>>1532333
Shit, why not just sew the patch on and then seam seal? If you ever need to transfer it to something else, you get to cut it off, and it's a heavy act of ritual because you are taking that bit of all the adventures you had with it on that old pack, and bring it along with your new, so it's like a movie scene, you carefully cutting that patch on, and then hand sewing it onto the new, while contemplating the potentials of the many adventures to come.
