How do you affix your patches on your bags? What do you do if there’s no velcro?Pic related, ordered on April 17th, only arrived in Canada yesterday. Likely getting a new daypack this weekend.
>>1509692>How do you affix your patches on your bags?velcro>What do you do if there’s no velcro?if your bag doesn't have velcro it's shit
Just sew on some velcro.>>1509693Not everyone plays airsoft and larps
>>1509695No, it's true, if your bag doesn't have velcro and MOLLE webbing, it's shit.
>>1509698PALS webbing shure. Velcro no unless you're larping. There's a lot of great molle gear. There's little with velcro that isn't something specifically made for the military or retarded larpers like airsofters and people that buy 5.11 gear.
>>1509702Camping and backpacking are inherently larp.
>>1509703Maybe for you. It's a hobby without role playing and lifestyle for others.
>>1509692Just sew them on with needle and thread. Seam seal them afterwards.
>>1509704You don't live out in the woods or mountains. You don't have to do any of this shit to survive. You are literally going out of your way to make your life more difficult because you enjoy the experience. It's LARP.There's nothing wrong with that but you're a mental child if you need to delude yourself into believe that it's actually super serious and you're a REAL MAN or some shit.
>>15097025.11 not so much. The best quality backpack I have was made by them.
>>1509708There's literally nothing wrong with them. They're extremely solid bags. Maybe a bit overpriced, and you could argue they're too heavy for backpacking (if you're a weakling). Anon doesn't like them because he has a mental caricature of who he thinks buys their bags. He can't enjoy things if he doesn't like the other people who also enjoy those things because he has yet to grow up.
>>1509707I like nature and it's great excersize you fat larper.>>1509708That's a shame because there's way better packs.
>>1509710And? You don't need to go out into the elements to exercise. Buy some weights, go for a jog. Why would you go out into the woods where you lack the abundance and easy survival of modern society?>I like natureExactly. It's fucking LARP. Grow up and lose the self-importance.
>>1509709I agree, I have the rush72, and actually just grabbed the rush24 because its on sale on amazon, they are expensive but worth it for sure.
>>1509692Is there anyone making an /out/ patch right now?
>>1509709Defending a chink made peice of shit pack by calling me kid. K, buddy.>>1509717You can like something on your own. Crazy idea for the tablet generation.
>>1509723go wash that vag out, your all pissy
>>1509723>Defending a chink made peice of shit pack by calling me kid. K, buddy.Try actually pointing out a flaw. You won't though. You'll probably just make up some dumb shit in response to this.>You can like something on your ownYeah, I am capable of liking things no matter who else enjoys it. Unlike you apparently. You should consider taking your own advice>uuuuuuuh no thing is bad because only """larpers""" like thingriveting argument
>>1509719I have the Rush 72. The only real complaint I have about it, is that it's heavy as fuck.
>>1509726>Try actually pointing out a flawIt's made in China. At least get something milspec if you want that kind of gear. Tactical Tailor, FP, Mystery Ranch, etc.In this case you can say something is bad because a certain group like it. The one thing airshitters are good for is a gear filter.
>>1509729>It's made in ChinaWhy does it matter where it's made if it's made well? Seriously, show me a flaw in the quality of the equipment. You won't because you can't.>B-but china always badNot an argument.
>>1509730China IS always bad... No exception.
>>1509733If I was enough of a faggot to save brainlet wojak pictures, this is when I'd post one.
>>1509735That's the typical response from chicom supporters. Support communism or you're dumb. If you're critical of chicom trash you're just dumb too. Funny hivemind.
i dont have any patches, but i guess needle and thread will do if you dont have velcro
>>1509736Why would a pack made of materials from unknown origin by child labors be bad? Gee I don't anon?
>>1509737If you don't want to buy a bag from China, that's fine. There are legitimate economic and moral concerns. But pretending that the bag itself is worse quality solely because it was made in China is complete and utter brainlet shit.Deflecting by claiming someone calling you out is a communist is also brainlet shit.
>>1509740Unless its machine sewing with cnc its going to be worse.
>>1509739All chinese manufacturers do that shit, right?
>>1509742Considering they're all owned by the government yes.
>>1509745I suggest you read up on it. Because you couldn't be more wrong.
>>1509741Show me the proof, brainlet. Seriously, point out the flaw in a 5.11 bag's quality. No vague "it's probably worse", "there's probably something wrong", "it's technically worse because", or "I found this one bag on Reddit that slipped through QA, therefore". I want actual fucking evidence you utter cuck. But you won't supply it. Because you can't.
>>1509748ask your school teacher to help youseriously, patches? it was embarrassing seeing them in high school let alone as an adult
>>1509749Wow, you must have a huge dick.
>>1509749Yeah that's what I thought, faggot. Absolutely nothing to back up your completely baseless claims.
>>1509747>no human right violations here!Chicom shill>>1509748How about nothing milspec? 5.11 has nsn numbers so they do make some milspec shit.
>>1509752Come on, anon. Surely if they're so shitty you can give me at least a couple examples of the terrible quality. Why is this so difficult?>inb4 it's not my job to do research for you!!!!!cuck
>>1509751>>1509749whoops wrong quote, meant for the OP>>1509750average sized Id say
>>1509758Oh, sorry for calling you a faggot then. Feel free to continue berating OP.
>>1509755The thing isn't just going to dry rot and rip apart. I assume 5.11 isn't that bad. Compared to a quality American company it's shit.
>>1509762Where the evidence though. "China" is not an argument, no matter how convenient that would be for you.
>>15097625.11 IS an American company.
>>1509764Just go read any of the multiple 1 star reviews on Amazon some even have pictures of the ripped stitching.
>>1509773Sounds and looks like a load of bullshit to me. Ripped stitching is what happens when you use it for something it wasn't intended for. That can happen to anything.
>>1509727for sure it is, Im lightweight backpacker so I noticed that shit right away, but for throwing around and fishing and whatnot I've been very pleased, cant wait for the 24 to get here actually, Im wondering how my big ass laptop is gonna fit
>>1509774Let's see, looking at the one-star reviews for the RUSH12 (if which there are 19 out of a total over 1000 reviews), I see some people complaint they don't like the design of a bag they for some reason decided to buy (one person complaining that it has too many straps, why the fuck did you buy it then?), a few counterfeits (which has nothing to do with 5.11 and everything to do with the Amazon seller), a few people getting used bags that were damaged and had stuff inside (again, nothing to do with the quality of the bag itself, but the amazon seller), some dumbass who broke one of the buckles and blames the bag, and one dipshits who broke one of his zippers. You'll have to excuse me for not being impressed by this evidence.
>>1509778Fuck, meant to quote >>1509773
>>1509778>>1509779There's no use trying to argue your point here. It's clear that we're dealing with one of these "It's not made in America, so it's shit" assholes.
>>1509783I mean I generally buy American when I can for obvious reasons. Hell, I go beyond that and buy local when I can. But it's just dumb to pretend that American companies are somehow qualitatively better than others. I've gotten PLENTY of "MADE IN AMERICA!" stuff that was complete garbage. God damn.
>>1509785Yeah, I'm the same way. Sadly, none of the local manufacturers in my country are worth a shit.
>>1509749>bitches don't know about my morale patches
>>1509733You probably wrote that on a PC with parts made in China sitting on a chair made in China in a room that is at least 50% made in China.
>>1509703>doesn't live in the wilderness>has a home>does temporary larps as an actual man
>>1509735There are much better places for one even just in the comments of this thread preceding that one.
Post patches that you would put on your bags for day hikes with friends.
>>1509923>>1509692Actually used that one on my last /out/ing
>>1509923I have both Outdoor Activities Club and Patient Bear patches on my bag. They both get compliments from normies.
>>1509944Do you know where can i get patches with the /out/ bear now? can't seem to find them anywhere since that /out/ patch website closed down
I just use velcro. If there's no place that has velrcro I get velcro strips for my molle gear.
>>1510009Patch is retardedfoot is pictured prior to heel strike, yet there is already a print on the groundplus it looks like a furry costume

>>1510141>tfw mine is almost here>tfw I still need a bag to at least modify so then I can stick it on or something
>>1510160Actually... I wonder if there’s a day pack I could get in Canada that either already has Velcro or is suitable for doing so. Fine with around $100, probably buy through MEC or some other local shop around Halifax.
>>1509692Got mine about a week ago. Been thinking of making some pins of this. Was also thinking of making some pins of the 4chan clover for st. patricks day. Unfortunately, every place I've looked into won't do one-offs and only does batches.
>>1509698Wow the larpers are really out in their numbers today
>>1510261>doesn't know what molle is for, let alone how to use it
>>1509692>mfw all my packs are rei-style internal frame toploaders>no velcro or good place to sew on velcroFeels bad man
>>1510349If they have any molle you can get some velcro strips that attach to the molle.
If you don’t have molle, what’s the best way again to put Velcro on bags?
>>1510545Hook and loop. Happy?
>>1510596Get a good bag.
>>1510349Is the material any good for some kind of adhesive velcro or similar thing? I've never used it, I'm just suggesting it.
>>1510596buy the iron on sticky velcro squares and sew around the edges after you stick it
>>1510349put them on the straps like a boyscout merit badge sash
>>1510305I do, and I do. Its unnecessary and makes you a larper. Unless you’re hunting or in a combat zone, there is literally no need.
>>1510637>unless you're hunting or in a combat zone there is literally no need to reconfigure your bag or conveniently attach things to the exterior?
>>1509692Before velcro was common, patches were sewn in a spiral pattern along the edge. Alternately you can do a couple of single stitches around, like 6-7 equally spaced should do it.
>>1510603“Good”As in surplus military bags?>>1510615Plus something to seal the stitches for rain?
>>1510750>>1510615Iron on velcro is a bitch to sew. If you use outdoor thread there's no need to use any adhesive. It's just a patch, this doesn't require very high level skills.
>>1509695Wouldn’t that void any warranty?
>>1510073>should we tell him?
>>1510349There is always a place for a patch. Post pic of pack, I will show at least 4 good places.

>>1512915Also the bag was cheaper but just as good as the other “modern” gear that was there.
>>1512915>Fuck me, this is why I don't use "civilian" gearThe amount of un ironic larping ITT is something.
>>1512910not that guy, but everything sport related is fucking brightly colored these days because the designers are all faggots. It's fucked up.

I could always get the pack swapped for the grey/yellow one. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>1512906I guess maybe on either side of the logo on the back, or right over the logo.

>>1514805>The mere presence of military equipment =/= LARP.It almost always means larpshit.
>>1514819With a velcro back?
>>1514825Yeah, almost. A lot of military equipment just works better than their civilian counterparts.
>>1514869>A lot of military equipment just works better than their civilian counterparts.Like?

And that bottle is basically exactly the same as the old military ones, which is why I include that in my thinking. Now, any good civilian folding shovels? No?
>>1514889>I've never seen "civilian" gear that has it.You joking? Mystery ranch, HPG, TAD, Eberlestock. You must have no idea what you're talking about.>folding shovelsLiterally anything meant for snow is light years better than millshit. Otherwise it's useless larp shit.

All HPG makes is civilian gear...>You've never used a shovel before, have you?Why would I ever have a need for milspec folding shovel? I'm not digging trenches to have a fantasy battle. The only need I have had for a shovel is for snow.
>>1514908>The only need I have had for a shovel is for snow.Yeah, sure, whatever. There's no such thing as a Dakota fire pit or anything. I bet you're the one shitting up all the streams, too.
>>1514913>larp shitI just use a small aluminum shovel for shit pits.
Would just superglue work for sticking Velcro onto nylon with polyurethane coating? Sewing would probably ruin it, especially if the fabric ends up tearing I think. Maybe? Fuck.
Does anyone ever try to get patches from local trail associations?
>>15097485.11 is notorious for selling cheap, poor quality products. I have been disappointed with the past 4-5 things I have purchased from them and I will not be buying from them again.Save up and buy something nicer.

>>1519933LOL too good.
>>1519730You're the first service member I've come across who actually uses them. But yes, they are very good. And fairly cheap. It's the most rugged backpack I've ever owned, despite it being made in Vietnam. It seems that where something is made does not matter, contrary to the beliefs of these morons.>>1519732Yes. These idiots have never handled something made by 5.11 simply because their products (At least my own Rush 72) are made in VIETNAM, not China. It is by far the best backpack I've ever owned, not only because of the build quality, but also because of how the internal pockets and PALS webbing are laid out. The only complaint I have about it, is that the front flap tends to sag of the main compartment isn't filled with something.

>>1523508For actually sewing them on, should I do full strips and sew them in 3–5 places or the full width + sealant, or should I only do about 1 or 2 strips depending on size per patch location? Top of the bag also seems more visible than the lower middle.

I should design a patch... Can't think of a concept to zero in on though.
>>1526771Uncle Ted. Maybe his shed?
>>1526830inb4 some wojak bullshit dressed up as the unamemer.
>>1526838My thought was something a little more slick, like "Outdoor Activities Club" style. More his shack less a person with a hoodie and glasses but I am no graphic designer.
>>1524676NS anon here, just got it today! Thanks!
>>1526838Brilliant idea, I would definitely be interested.
>>1526830>>1526838Wojak in Unamemer hood standing in front of Ted's cabin.
>>1526771>>1526830>>1526838>>1526886>>1526887>>1526964>>1526984Any /gd/ on /out/ ?
>>1527000I am. (NS anon/OP)Not too sure about the Unabomber Cabin/Wojak bit but Yurucamp△/Outdoor Activities Club style patch sounds awesome.
>>1527009Or what about the /out/ bear in a canoe for canoefags? /out/bear with rin chan?
>>1527012Sounds cute.I made a crappy sketch for an idea earlier.
>>1527129I love it.
>>1527129I'd buy that
Does anyone know where I can get the *original* /out/ patch? I want one so bad but cant find it anywhere.Pic related
>>1527250Just need the original file and we can just get them made.
>>1527270>Just need the original fileDoes anyone here have it?
>>1527286Could get a /gd/ anon to doctor up this one.
>>1527154>>1527246>>1527248I’ll try to do something up over the next while. Can’t say when exactly since I have work to be done and also going out hiking tomorrow and camping next weekend.
please give me ideas on what piece of gear i should put the patch on. Just got a new expensive pack and don't want to risk damaging it.
>>1527515Jackets, MOLLE pouches, MOLLE backpacks. I do believe some civilian clothing comes with velcro fields now.
I would really pay for some sort of patch with uncle ted on it
Anyanon had experience with patches4less? Looking for a decent small-batch patchmaker.
>>1526325got my patch.many thanks anon
>>1528259I'm not that anon, anon. Patch-kun is >>1520052 (and he delivars).
>>1527250I want one too...
>>1520288is it? I think it's cool...
>>1520150you can dye gear with RIT anon.
>>1519946I have a 72 as well, awesome pack just got the 24 when it was on sale, great for everyday shit, laptop etc, I wish it had better compression straps but they are added easily. 511 makes some great packs.
>>1519933Do you have any more anon? I love it!
>>1528942I love the 72, man. I've also considered getting the Rush 12, although I'll have to nigger rig an extra set of compression straps. Aside from that, it's perfect for short fishing trips and the like. You really can't go wrong with 5.11.
>>1528948The 12 was just a little too small for my needs I think, if you do grab one post some pics, have you fucked with any of their other gear? The pack was so nice I started looking at their pant offerings.
>>1528952At the moment, I only own the Rush 72, which I haven't had to fuck with in any way because it's perfect for the kind of things I usually do.That basically being dicking around in the woods identifying plants and fungi, picking them, fishing at fairly obscure locations, wild camping, etc.
Another eagle has landed, thank you very much patch Santa anon.
>>1528953I use the 72 for fishing mainly, I can fit everything - folding chair and two collapsible rods and the rest of the bullshit all inside, for some reason I've always hated lashing shit to the outside of packs.
>>1528965I'm not a huge fan of lashing shit to the outside either, but when it comes to fishing poles, even the telescopic ones, I have a fucking autistic tick that makes me strap them to the outside every time. That, and sleeping pads or sleeping bags. Depends on the situation.
>>1528098>>1528259You’re welcome anons>>1528943I do, send me you address.
>>1527565This Give uncle Ted some love
>>1529091I feel that this picture isn't 'wacky' enough. And without the beard and shit, he looks like he could be anyway, to be honest. He is a very plain Jane-looking motherfucker without the beard.
>>1529096Kinda good that way though.
>>1529233True enough. I guess you wouldn't want to be caught with a patch featuring a known terrorist.
>>1529238An obvious depiction of one, I mean.
>>1519933Mine came in the mail! Thanks anon, I’ll cherish it and put it on my favorite pack.
>>1529352Shit wrong thread
>>1527565Maybe this will work for yahttps://wolfslair.bigcartel.com/product/uncle-ted-and-his-wood-cabin
>>1529666>eternal anglo patch>mcveigh delivery van patch>ted patchholy fucking basedthe ted patch is out of stock tho
>>1529096what about this then?
>>1529700Something as fucked up as that could work, yeah.
>>1529699The McVeigh delivery patch is bang on.
>>1529714so how does one make a patch?
>>1529960With hard work and dedication.
>>1529960Patch Santa here. Once you have a design, a couple of emails and $50-90 later they show up at your house in a plastic bag. Money depends on how many, what kind of backing and how many different colours. The toughest part is the initial design/finished file.
We need a patch of pushing a jannie off a cliff.
>>1529096>I feel that this picture isn't 'wackyThat's the point, Ted wasn't wacky to begin with, just some normal dude with strong ideals that had some fuckery done to his brain by spooks.>>1529666>That link>Them digitsFucking intelligence agencies funding their black ops with anons money and personal info.
>>1530075That would be neat, more so with /a/ printed on jannies back.
Y’all weird with obsessing over a guy who wanted (and did) kill people just because he had a comfy shack and was a nut.
>>1530462>Y’allhow to spot a numale
>>1530083I know, he isn't wacky, but I feel that a patch, or well, at least a morale patch, should have some comedic value. Also, no, he was anything but normal. Don't forget that he has a higher IQ than everyone on this board combined.
>>1530022Just received mine. Thanks, patch santa.
I was originally intending mine for backpack, but was having difficulty envisioning where I would most enjoy it being placed on the Osprey. But after a couple of days what I think to be the perfect place for it came to me. It's a tight fit, but works better when the front is fully filled out. I think I can successfully squeeze it in.
>tfw going camping/hiking this weekend and still haven't put the outclub patch on my packShit. I need proper velcro strips that can be sewn on and not the stick-on stuff that is much tougher.
>>1532333Shit, why not just sew the patch on and then seam seal? If you ever need to transfer it to something else, you get to cut it off, and it's a heavy act of ritual because you are taking that bit of all the adventures you had with it on that old pack, and bring it along with your new, so it's like a movie scene, you carefully cutting that patch on, and then hand sewing it onto the new, while contemplating the potentials of the many adventures to come.
>>1532462>>1532642That's what I'm here for boys, to be the fathers that you never had.
>>1532462>>1532642Also look, y'all were 462 and 642
>>1533325You're fucking retarded.
>>1533349Yes, your fathers did set a rather low bar, I will give you that! It's a sick sad shame that I'm your last hopes!
>>1529960you can make a printed one with a trip to joann fabrics and the library color printer
'Tis a good thread.
Velcro, if no valcro a pin, sew it or even small amount of superglue.
>>15273135 min of powerpoint
Well look at this here potential patch... I like it.
>>1535865Shit well done Anon,!
thank you for the patch anon
>>1536663>tfw been almost two weeks and mine still isn't hereI think USPS ate it and it hurts.
