Honestly that sounds great
>>
Cripplechan has an /out/ board. It's slow to the point of being inactive but if just a handful of us moved over there we could breathe some real life into it probably.
Of course if 4chan goes down it's pretty likely that a lot of other chans would've already been nuked by then so whatevs.

4chan will never die. Just like "dead" forums like something awful and sites like ytmnd, 4chan will always stay up. It'll just stick around, accumulating replies slower and slower until the only ones keeping it alive are the final group of oldfags and a small number of internet historians.
The internet will never forget 4chan.

some dipshit from 8gag /pol/ shot 49 muslims in a mosque in New Zealand and referenced a ton of memes etc, now 4chan is being blamed for radicalizing him and 4chan /pol/ is praising him which isn't helping at all.
/pol/ is killing this site
>>
What's a 4chan??
>>
>>1473656
/pol/ isn't praising him. At least they have been showing a great deal of restraint in that regard but there are the usual trolls. Most just seem to apreciate the new source of gore.

Now I will tell you why the chans won't be shut down. The rapid response of police was entirely due to the live stream and the ease with which authorities were able to locate it. This stream, found by police, makes the court proceedings easy mode for them.

And who do the police have to thank for that?
Anonymous and the chans. The reality of chaos is oportunity.

I vote Yellowstone. That way we can all die together once the volcano erupts.

It's not a volcano anon, it's a caldera. Potentially much more destructive and unpredictable. It's like the difference between a pimple and pancreatic cancer.

ackshually: a caldera is a volcano, just one so large that rather than blowing a crater at the top, enough magma is ejected in an eruption that a large area of land collapses/subsides to fill the void underneath
>>
>>1474010
a caldera is a gigantic festering pocket of ash and magma that's sealed under the crust as a result of a previous catastrophic volcanic eruption. it's not a rupture the way a volcano is, it's like a big infected sore under the surface that continues to boil and shift and build pressure and we have no reference in the human historical record of what it can do, only that several hundred or thousand square miles of earth may cave in or blow out and melt and burn. if it "erupts" they think it'll be as devastating as a large asteroid but at the very least the ash cloud even from a cave-in could suffocate earth for hundreds of years. with any luck we'll all grow old and die of mesothelioma and gun violence long long before we need to find out what jellystone is planning
>>
>>1473510
I prefer to be called Grand hacker 4channel
>>
>>1474013
what you've described is literally just what you get when you scale up a volcano, its still a volcano, just a very big one. The differences in characteristic are just the result of the difference in scale. The mechanisms at play are all presumed to be the same
>>
>>1474025
true. but they do call it something different because it's not just a pimple in the earth, it's more like an abscess

>what jellystone is planning
To get an idea, we can look at the ash deposits from its most recent eruption (a little over 600,000 years ago), also known as the Lava Creek ash bed. This layer of tuff (a.k.a. solidified volcanic ash) covers about half the continental U.S., and is over 200 meters thick in some places. What does that mean in terms of an eruption? Well, if you live west of the Mississippi, you're going to die, and you'll be buried underneath up to 600 feet of molten ash. Don't worry though, current estimates suggest another eruption would only deposit a few feet of ash. On the bright side, a yellowstone eruption might be a good way to address climate change; if it goes off, it'll cool the planet drastically for years, likely decades!

Last time something similar happened there was a mini ice age during the dark ages which lasted maybe a decade or so. Civilisations collapsed.

My understanding is eruptions have grown weaker as the moon gets further away.
