This is what the bottom of a boot made for humans looks like, maybe better with some tread

Honestly, I never realized how useful heels are for climbing ladders until I happened to be wearing a flat shoe on a wet ladder.

I actually do ride horses
There is little reason to wear heeled boots for anything other than riding a horse unless you’re a lazy fuck and don’t like laces
Cowboy LARPing makes me sick desu
>>
>>1431936
Why do these boots have heels?
>>
>>1431937
Idk but they look pretty faggy
>>
>>1431884
This is true, however you can get zero drop shoes with a little groove for ladders - the point of OP’s post is that raising your heels constantly with a wedge is unnatural and fucks your posture, knees and walking pattern in the long term. Heeled shoes are only a few hundred years old and one of those strange fashion ideals that bleeds into practical outdoors wear, with the crossover of military use that requires things like ankle support, ladder-climbing ability and super thick soles, alongside the “smart” appearance aspect of a uniform (collars, pleated clothing, heels, regulation haircuts, etc)
>>
>>1432007
For 9/10 outdoorsmen, you will never need raised heels (unless you constantly climb ladders). Zero drop is both lighter, comfier and better for your body.

I dunno imho heeled boots give much better grip in soft muddy ground, the tread pattern does bugger all to stop you sliding once it gets clogged up
>>
>>1432008
The front edge of the heel provides about 90% of the traction in a boot sole on any non hard surface.

It's also pretty common for modern boots to be damn close to 0 degrees even with a heel because the front sole is that thick.

Best cowboy boots for outdoors? I wanna larp

Ariat workboot line has treated me pretty well.

Yeah these were what I was looking at because of the rubber sole. Too bad they are chinese made.

Yep.

They're still damn nice boots at reasonable prices that last very well. This pair is about 2 years old, I wear them 4-5 days a week in an outdoor garden center and they still look fairly new.

It's there so you don't have to rely on your calves as much during the when moving from midstance to the terminal stance. This is helpful when you have a heavy pack on your back. It also helps when walking up hill since the ankle support limits dorsiflexion
>>
>>1432254
>helps up hill
surely it must then penalise you going downhill?
>>
>>1432267
Not really because it's harder to trip over your heels than it is to trip over your toes if that makes sense

That's like getting into a vehicle and not adjusting the seat or steering wheel.

It's not tho. Have you never worn boots with a heel?
>>

You can get bigger stirrups
You don’t even need stirrups if you’re not a pussy
You could also change your boots if you’re not a retard

I've worn military-style boots for the past quarter of a fucking century, and my posture is flawless. Yeah, anecdotal, nice sample size there bro, yeah I know, but still... I can't help but suspect that whatever influence, if any, heeled footwear might have is likely dwarfed by that of a culture in which most "work" is performed whilst hunched over a computer screen in a cramped cubicle, and which is generally sedentary in the extreme.
>>
>>1432528
*permanently stands on a slope*
Your posture is not perfect. It is the best it can be with the handicap you’ve given yourself simply because you are a victim of fashion crossing into practical gear. Still, if they work for you, you do you anon and I’m happy you’re healthy :)

>For 9/10 outdoorsmen, you will never need raised heels
Obviously has never snowshoed up a mountain with televators

grip, you're able to wedge it in crevices and depressions easier

not my tack
You don’t even need stirrups if you’re not a pussy
im not going to take a strangers saddle off when asked to ride
You could also change your boots if you’re not a retard
im not packing multiple boots like a fag

Haha, I love this. Someone actually made a hiking boot look like chinese foot binding shoes
>>
>>1431937
It works as a brake, improves grip, and helps keep the instep strap on a gaiter on place.
