This is fine. Put it back in and ship it.

Had to do that with the main bearings on my bronco. Had the trans and oil pan off already. Fuck it, why not do the rear main seal while I'm there. Pull rear main bearing cap. Scored to shit. Deep thick grooves that would catch a fine screw driver on. On jacks in driveway. Decide that I'm not up for emery clothing the crankshaft back smooth. Rod bearings are probably just as bad. Do seal. Glob assembly lube onto bearing, torque it back down. Add 15w40 oil and lucas. Still working fine 2 years later.

A full rebuild is definitely in this engine's future, but not today.

running turbo once sucked in a mates screwdriver, bottom first. at first it sounded like a mixer when it chewed through the rubber, then turbo bits went through the engine and out the open exhaust. He had about half a second until misfires and pops and a completely fucked engine, took him too long to get to the key. That's what you get for playing with an unfinished project lel
I learned my lesson when my ratchet fell into the running engines timing chain and ate it. never play around, it's always worth waiting.

1. That's not a main or conecting rod bearing but a camshaft bearing
2. It doesn't have a bearing to insert, the cap itself is the bearing
3. The engine is running fine somehow.

It's a know fault, carbon deposits build up on the valves, once you hit the highway they start burning off, the valve gets too hot and burns off.

You know it. I should have said no, should have known. First start didn't seem quite right, something felt wrong. I changed the oil and filter, and started it on a dry filter. Tons of knocking till it built pressure. Picked up a quick three taps on sudden acceleration.
Later dropped the pan and found this.

>>
>>21223491
If you don't hate your car, you should always disconnect ignition power and the fuel pump fuse and rotate the engine with the starter in 10-15 second bursts until the oil pressure light goes out. That way, it doesn't matter if you put the filter on dry. The filter that doesn't have a coat of orange paint on the canister.
>>
>>21223538
I should clarify, the engine came from the tip to replace my blown engine. $350 for a claimed good engine. After it was fitted in the car was when it made it known it was damaged. I started it with a dry filter to confirm my suspicions.

Somender Singh realized that the higher compression ratios you can do with direct injection obviously imply that port fuel injection's ability to mix an intake charge has big room for improvement

So, he milled a little rounded groove in the squish pad, so when the piston comes up on the compression stroke, it creates a high-pressure jet in the combustion chamber, better mixing the intake charge, which seems to allow you to bump up compression without knock

Retards have done it while leaving sharp edges, creating hot spots, which are not a good idea to have from a knock perspective

>CN 2699 experienced what is known in the trade as a "catastrophic uncontained engine failure". The train was passing the town of Independence , LA, at the time. The first picture below shows that the engine exploded and one of the 16 cylinder-packs that form the engine was ejected through the engine bay body side and thrown clear of the locomotive. In addition to this the piston from that cylinder was thrown free by the force of the failure. It was ejected so violently that it traveled through the air and crashed through the roof of a nearby home where it imbedded itself in an interior wall.

Part of an engine bloc lands in your living room. Do you give it back?
do you mount it?
>>
>>21233963
Did coolant get into the intake ports when you removed the intake manifold? That could have caused the engine to become hydrolocked.

Most likely a timing belt/chain failure or retard replaced said belt/chain without having camshaft and crankshaft in correct sequence. Possibly, but unlikely, the valve shaft snapped.

This is why it's important to rotate your crankshaft a full rotation after doing your timing maintenance.

this is genuis, you can use it as a motorcycle tire after you're done using it as a car tire
obligatory chinese knock-off of those 2-part rear sprockets. They're almost 50% lighter than solid steel ones. Supersprox has a patent on it and uses an aluminium carrier with a steel toothed ring(?) and some chinese places copy them.
>>
>>21236748
>aluminium carrier with a steel toothed ring
That`s decades old technology, even my 1983 Simson S51 features a steel sprocket ring on an aluminium carrier.
>>
>>21236759
I'm not sure what their patent specifically entails as I haven't bothered looking into it exactly but theirs was granted in 2003 or so
https://www.supersprox.com/about/
>Supersprox-stealth is a world-wide patented product and registered trademark. For details, please visit www.patft.uspto.gov <http://www.patft.uspto.gov/>and search for Patent Number 7481729 or www.epoline.org <http://www.epoline.org/> and search for Patent Number EP1573234.
https://patents.google.com/patent/EP1573234B1/
I suppose it's mainly because of the thickness. Regardless, there are some chinese knock-offs going about that are an accident waiting to happen
>>
>>21236796
Sure, the Simson design works differently and chinese knock-offs in your drivetrain are a bad idea.
The great thing about the Simson design is that it dampens shock loads and allows for easy and fast removal of the rear wheel.
Since front and rear wheel are identical on most Simson vehicles, you can swap front and rear wheel to even out tire wear in just a minute or two.
Also the fully enclosed chain means the sprocket as well as the non-sealed chain last almost forever as they are always properly lubricated and clean.
