ITT: Bad advice only.
>>20940322Flushing an auto trans is only gonna cause problems!
>>20940322Buy a Miata
>>20940336M IXI TA GAINT ONYA
>>20940322Except this is a good advice if you have wheels with holes in them, retard. Obviously you've never parked your car in grass.
>>20940322Listen to BMW's advice, only change your oil every 15000 miles.
>>20940322/o/ is smart you should listen to them
>>20940322Listen to /o/ for advice
>>20940322It appears my wheel ants have evolved and became “everywhere in the car” metropolitan ants. How do I deal with this problem?
>>20940330This is true if your auto trans is already on the brink of death. Because the sediment becomes your friction material. Flush it out and your shit won't work
>>20940543Leave two open cans of soda in your car, and set the car out in the sun. Give it about 3 hours and then immediately throw away the cans. Your ant problem will be solved.t. Cleared out my family's cars with cans of precious Cheerwine
You should finance that 15 year oldBMW you’ve been looking at
>>20940508Besides the city finding out and fineing you whats the worst that could happen
>>20940322This dealership cares about its reputation.
>>20940598You could poison your own well.
>>20940598It gets into the city water, the city finds out, the epa or state conservation department comes in and tests it and they follow it back up the aquafer to your neck of the woods, get permission or use easements and find out you've been burying your oil for years. Get hit with a massive 5 digit fine lucky if it's not 6
You don't need a tune for those bolt on parts. Just add the new cold air intake and let it rip!
Turn off overdrive on your car to save gas. Turn it on to go faster!
Make sure you put it in 2nd gear when starting from a stop. This will save your synchros from 1st to 2nd
>>20940322>Every car makes weird sounds every once in a while, that new ticking/clicking/tapping/clunking noise is probably perfectly normal!
>>20940834>not doing it at night in black neighbourhoods
>>20940322When driving a car with a manual transmission, don't bother with turning off your car when you get into the spot, just let the car stall itself.
>>20940903>being in a black neighborhood at night
>>20940872some dumb ass unironically told me starting in 5th gear didn't hurt your car
>>20940915Hey it is the bad advice thread
>>20940439Lifetime trans fluid lmaooooo
>>20940903at that point it's more of a hassle than disposing of it properly
>>20940872If you have enough torque and it doesn't lug is this actually bad advice?t. autobrainlet
>>20940322Buy a BMW
>>20942044Bitch whatIf you don’t have enough torque in 1st how is starting from 2nd gonna help
>>20940554Can verifyT. Transmission shop mechanic
>>20942182No I mean, if you have a lot of torque, is there a reason not to start in 2nd?
>>20940564What a waste of Cheerwine
Don't run only coolant and anti freeze in your car. The engine pump needs to be lubricated so add about a quart of motor oil to the system so the pump has a longer life
>>20942302My Merc-O-Matic trans from 1964 starts in 2nd by default. No there's not really a downside to starting in 2nd in a manual, but very few cars will be geared in such a way where it's useful.
>>20942578>not straining the Cheerwine and the 6 gorillion ants through a cheesecloth to have a delicious Cheerwine and ant body fluids drink.
>>20942048B IXM GAINW ONY
>>20942578Would probably work with just sugar water
>>20940322Buy a K&N oil filter. Its lifetime just like the air filters! Never have to change it. Just rinse with water and reinstall
>>20940598local water table gets fucked, and you poison your entire region.
>>20940508Putting the dinosaurs back where they came from.
>>20940322>nah, changing the oil every 3000 miles is a scam, I do mine every ten thousand and she still runs ok for a five year old car
Use parking brake.
I know actual people who have put 305 chevy heads on 350s to increase compression ratio. They have identical part numbers.
>>20940322Push the button when you pull the parking brake!!11! It makes ratchet sound, that'll wear it out!
>>20944167Why is this bad advice?
>>20940598>fine/o/ anon in California got jail time, like 3 years. He was dumping it into the storm drain.
>>20942302Ram 2500 diesel with the manual trans owner's manual says it's OK to start in 2nd but will accelerate clutch wear. Then some trucks like the older Fords had a "granny" first gear where you were supposed to start in 2nd unless towing a big load. It depends on your gearing really.
>>20940598>>20940834>living in a city
>>20944201It's not bad, it's just redundant.
>>20945003If you have well water you’ll just poison yourself
>>20945116not if the well is higher up in the terrain
>>20945196Do you have an above ground well, you fucking genius?
>>20940554also, your seals deteriorate to the point where gunk becomes the seals, then when you add new fluid with detergents and shit that eats away the gunk, you've also eaten away the sealing action and shit starts to leak
To prevent rusting rotors, make sure to lube them with molybdenum grease.
>>20942302Depends on the car and whatnot, but sure. Try it first. If the car struggles to take off it probably should be started on fist.
>>20945330>tfw unironicly had to lubricate brakes recently
>>20945330Nah you want this stuff. Get the big one because you need to be generous with it.
>>20945330What terrible advice; every/o/ne knows you have to use krylon.
>>20945305sort ofthe water's being forced up from the hill naturallyalso, the water's source is above the oil disposing location in question
>>20945330it'll also reduce friction making your pads last much longerreally this is basic maintainance
>>20945585No its not. Water comes from wells deep underground. The pressure is what brings it to the surface. You pour oil into a shallow hole on your property there is no question it'll leach into your well.
>>20945780the water's source is probably from higher up the mountain. so unless if the oil would find its way up the hill inside of the soil I see no danger
Buy a Nissan 300ZX
>>20945006That's not how you spell retarded.
>>20940322When driving a manual accelerate up to speed, then shift into neutral and coast to your stop. Coasting prevents wear and tear on the engine, clutch and transmission, saves on gas, and makes steering easier.
>>20945886>higher in the mountainThat assumes you get it from a resevoir and somehow the aquafer is above ground. Oil still will leach into it. Wells for New England residential homes can vary between 100 and 500 feet deep.
>Heavier cars can corner faster. The GTR is super heavy and it uses that weight plus its crazy awd system to throw itself around corners. F1 cars generate thousands of pounds of downforce by design. More weight on the wheels = better traction.
>>20947082this so much, anything to do with babying the clutch is just pointless boomer lore
>>20944224My 94 350 3/4 silverado had a granny gear. GM did it too.
>the epa hates him>find out how one man disposed of his sump oil with one simple trick
>>20940322European cars are reliable man! I sourced the parts at a discount from ebay to get it running perfectly. It will keep running smooth for a long time! :)
>>20940564>Leave two open cans of soda in your car, and set the car out in the sun. Give it about 3 hours and then immediately throw away the cans. Your ant problem will be solved.Ok I tried this, and it appears the ants have tripled in number and now the entire center console of my car is covered in hundreds of antsthanks man
>>20940834>they follow it back up the aquafer to your neck of the woods,Maybe if you dump a thousand gallons. Back in the 60s we lived about a half mile from a service station that was beside a creek that also ran behind our house. Once or twice a year the creek would turn black. Those were the days, man.
>>20940322Buy a Ford
>>20948887>tfw when no petroleum river running in your backyardwhy live
Remove your air filter for moar hp gains. You only need an air filter if you live somewhere dusty like the outback
>>20948887The Water station does testing literally every day, they'll know when the amount you're putting into the river hits the ppb level. They follow it up stream, take soil and water samples until they stop seeing it then use the area where it stopped as the ground where it must have been dumped.EPA/ State Environmental Agency doesn't fuck around.
People afraid of "The man" itt. He's a lazy fuck like the rest of them.
>>20950177oil is considered a nonpoint pollution source. yeah if they see a big jump in the amount of oil in the watershed they will investigate but I wouldn’t call one /o/tard dumping his oil change a big jump.
>>20947100it's from a spring (hydrology)
