Hey friends, I'm the owner of the 97 Integra, I cleaned the throttle body last night and reattached the hoses and such. Tried starting it this to do the Idle learning procedure, left it running for 5 minutes, it shut off. I went to work and came back but now the car doesn't turn over anymore. Now what?

Can I get redpilled on a 2012 Accord?

My parents want to buy one. So far they found an SE with 58k for $11k.

Not sure about that price
What should I know, or model, engine types to avoid?
>>
>>20807861
58K is a nice example of a 2012 car, but 11K is alot of money, you can get a 2016-2017 sport model for 16-18K.

Doesnt turn over meaning the starter doesn't even go or it just won't run?

If it doesnt run the idle could be too low. Adjust the idle screw on the throttle body counter clockwise (loosen) and it may resolve your issue
You can run into this problem when setting the idle if you set it too low

>>20807536

It rotates inside of the bushing. If you take it apart you'll see. I'm actually working on some bronze replacement ones coincidentally
>>
>>20808141
It just won't run, I would turn over and it would keep starting but won't turn over.
>Adjust the screw
Why would my screw tighten if I never adjusted it.
But okay, I will try.
>>
>>20808149
its not that it tightened
If you had the ECU learn the idle incorrectly, the ECU could be trying to idle at a really low RPM.

Backing the screw out will manually aid air and will raise the idle up -- overriding the ECU

You can also try pulling the fuse for the ECU in the underhood fuse box. Unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in, start car. Itll reset the idle again

Noob here with no idea what to do
My 88 CRX DX idles at around 3000 rpm, only decreases once engine gets hotter, but it's gotten unpredictable over the past few days.
I have a DPFI throttle body so I do not have an FITV. Apparently a common solution to this problem is to clean the FITV but I dont have one so yeah.
Theres almost no information online about the DPFI throttle body in my car and I have no idea what to check or clean or replace to fix this idle issue. Can anyone help?
>>
>>20815378
we begin with basic essentials
have you replace air element filter?
have you done cleaning of throttle body?
check injector, is clean with no fluid on body?
i believe there is screw near throttle, make adjustment to screw if maybe becomes better

I've been looking at the 2019 CTR, but I still see people posting about 1->2 grinds and 5->4 lockouts in low/no mileage CTRs.

Have they really not solved this problem yet?

I've seen some people fix it by changing trans fluid (does this void warranty?) as well as replacing the clutch master cylinder with a honda OEM part but with the damper removed - seems like a lot of annoyance for the price.

If they haven't fixed it by 2020 and the new WRX looks awful I might just have to give up and buy an early 90's miata with pop up headlights so I can wink at people alone instead of going fast with 3 passengers.

I don't want or need a mid or full size car. I've always preferred small cars. I'm out of town something like 25 days a month for work so it's not like I'll be spending much time in it. Currently I "daily" a E36 M3, I'm guessing if I fit in that I will fit in a Fit. I want something that is cheap, easy to work on, doesn't take up a lot of space, and has more room and less painful to park in the dirt parking lot at work for weeks at a time than a 20 year old BMW.
>>
>>20818637
E36 isn't that small, get a used Accord coupe, with either a 4 cyl or a V6, it's the dailyest of dailys but you won't hate life driving it because there is a hint of sportyness and feedback that makes you not want to stop driving it.

Update to this. I think I might be retarded. My gas pedal seems to be sticking down because I tried hooking my foot under it and pulling it up, and it returned to normal idle.
Does this mean that something is sticky and needs to be cleaned? How can I fix this. Cause every time I accelerate my throttle sticks down, I guess.

Lube up the joints on the pedal assembly. Also check the throttle body end of the cable. See if it's sticking there.

3-4k budget, what is best option for commuter to work? Must be manual the older civics tend to get stolen so maybe 1996+
>>
>>20822264
Late 90s Accord 4 cylinder should be a pretty good manual commuter and keep the thieves away.
>>
>>20822277
Early 90's accords are sexy, I may take my chances if I find a clean one. Thoughts on civics from 96-2003 or so?
>>
>>20822284
96-00 Civics are basically the same as 92-95 underneath. Same D series 1.6 engine. 2001 onward they changed the suspension from double wishbone to McPherson and the general consensus is that they became less fun to drive. A D series 92-00 Civic will run forever with a manual transmission attached to it. I've done a little over 100,000 miles on mine personally in under four years.

As for the Accords, the F series four cylinder is also a beast. They're capable of at least 300k miles if taken care of.

https://www.wctv.tv/content/news/509900232.html

This article is a little misleading but he did have the engine replaced twice I think. First replacement was at least at 350k though.

Maybe it was just his car then. It's the only Prelude I've driven so far.

Found out a lot of my oil pan bolts and nuts were quite loose so I gave them just enough torque to get the gasket to squeeze just a little. Maybe it'll stop losing oil now. Also I lose two bolts from that clutch replacement. One on the rear mount and one on the transmission to the engine. I was so exhausted I forgot to get them all. This is why I'm not doing this for money. Kek

And i wanted something that was fun to drive but reliable, after driving nothing but boring ugly ass cars up till now.

Heres the link

2007 Honda Civic ,

Price: $3,700

the link you sent seems fine but id think it was more in the 2000s range considering my area has 1k civics of same gen
all you have to check really are obd warnings and any strange noises and feelings when driving
>>
>>20834467
Cad is more inflated than Usd, so its probably around the same price between the 2

In my area for 1,600. Would it be a good deal with all this rice?

De-ricing a crx will be very very expensive
Everything is discontinued and people use that as an excuse to charge out the ass for used parts
You would be better off spending an extra couple grand for a nice one
>>
>>20834485
I think you mean the euro.

>>20835114
This. Plus save yourself the hassle
>>
>>20810550
Yo fellow leaf, I have an '06. It's literally just a Civic, the parts don't really break and everything, down to the Headlights and tied rods, are just Civic parts. It's actually great because it means you'll never have some retarded bill unless you total the thing.

How do you even reverse a stanced car?
>>
>>20835599
Depends on how far they went with it. Most extreme cases will have modified knuckles. Some others will just need a basic suspension adjustment. My Ground Controls at the lowest setting will be within half an inch of dragging my exhaust.

It still won't start.
I made a recording of it not starting.
Fuel pump sounds good, I checked the spark plugs they seemed good but I replaced them anyways just to be sure.
Is it the air? Or is it something else?

Sup boys, 2017 Honda Civic EX-L owner here. Just giving her a bath. Got a nice Takeda exhaust and intake added; also reflashed the engine (just did a preset, still new to it).

Drives like a dream.

I would open the throttle plate and spray a little starting fluid in there and see if it starts and runs for a few seconds

>>20835623
Did you hear anything about that harness?

I have this now

Nope, the automatic prelude should be avoided. Those transmissions are not terribly reliable. Even for a manual that price is pretty high.
>>
>>20836987
This, it's kind of a glass translike 98-2002 Accord, 98-03 TL, especially an Odyssey from 99-04, Honda transmissions from the late 90s to early 2000s were shit.

Check the basics. Fuel, spark, air, timing
Also this
>>20836949

And if everything checks out, if the engine sat for a long while, you can throw a teaspoon of oil in the cylinders

Yeah they got back to me. Should hopefully have it soon.

If it starts the issue will be fuel related. Check to see if your fuel pump works. If so check injectors next.
>>
>>20837638
Ok thanks friends.
>>
>>20837568
Oh i see the confusion, yeah what del said.
You know how to check the other stuff too right?
>>
>>20837686
Yeah, thanks for the help.
If starts, it's fuel.
If no start, it's my spark or air.
Hopefully it's my spark, that's easier to replace/ fix.
If it's fuel I will hate this.

I need advice. I own a stock 1992 honda civic vx hatch. I'm trying to increase the hp ad much ad possible without touching the engine. I've put coilovers on, a cold air intake. I have a much wider exhaust pipe with a resonator and performance muffler. 10 decibels under the limit so its quiet. I still have the stock headers with the cat in it. I want to put after market headers on but I'm getting mixed opens about it. Some say that I'll get more hp with stock headers on. Others say more hp with after market. Do I have to get it dyno'ed to know for sure?
>>
>>20837708
The VX has the VTEC-E so it's built for fuel economy. You won't notice much with just bolt ons. Even getting a VTEC head from an EX or Si will see maybe a 20hp increase. The top end will be better though.

will decrease the back pressure net me any gains?
>>
>>20837806
1320Performance says their header is a proven 9-14hp gain in all D series engines. It's up to you if it's worth it though.

who cares about paint? It's an 19 year old POS crapbox sedan. Worry about keeping it maintained, and drive the piss out of it.
>>
>>20838169
This, Hondas having clearcoat and looking good makes the value of the car go way up, it works anyway.
>>
Fucking kek this is accurate as fuck.

>tfw my short ass legs can fit in a pre 2016 civic but body is too thicc
>>
>>20838194
The FA5 seats were built for my skeleton body. I had a big guy in my passenger seat before and it wasn't working out because the bolsters are so firm. I don't even have the rails all the way back because I have to stretch too much to reach the pedals at 6'2".
>>
>>20838192
when will they learn
>>
>>20838172
yeah the basic things any non POS shitbox has as just a normal thing makes the price of shitbox with good clearcoat value go up.

no.

Hi /hg/, how's this Civic look? They want 8k for a 2013 LX manual with 89k miles.
Also, I don't really have experience with manuals. I just drove my friend's 2016 Fiesta and I managed to get it around without stalling. But, it seemed like there was some sort of anti-stall assist going on or something. A while ago I drove my brother's 2007 VW Rabbit and I kept stalling the shit outta it. Do you think I'll embarrass myself at the dealer if I test drive it?
