Let me tell you no-bike fags lurking the thread benchingracing all the time.
You're all worthless, really worthless. Look at me, I'm 23 and in my prime all because of my sportsbike. Girls wanna fuck me all the time, I always have guys on their 300's stuttering about how my bike is too fast or I'm gonna kill myself on it.
I laugh at them and revbomb them after I pick up their girlfriend for the night.

Fact of the matter is, if you have a bike you're gonna get laid. But you're probably a faggot so maybe stick to your Prius or something while the real men ride and die.

Second day of riding outside of a parking lot + trying to do a u-turn on a narrow street in second gear = stalled with the wheel turned and dropped like a rock.

Up side is that the previous/original owner dropped it on both sides. All that happened is that the left crankcase cover has a few more scratches than it already had. You can see how it was already scratched in this pic.

I've heard the rule of thumb is 30 to 100 bike miles to car miles, but desu I think it's just because people don't maintain their bikes as well, and ride them harder than most drive.
>>
>>20685741
So that matches what I've heard for about 1000 miles a year being about the regular total. So a 2003 honda with 30k miles for 3k$ (it's real purdy) is about right?

not all full exhaust systems are loud as shit. For the dorsoduro 750 for example the silmotor exhaust is barely louder (2 dB) and unironically quiter than stock at highway 130kph-ish, probably due to reduced droning.

Original plan was to get a Guzzi V7 and to get a CB1100 down the line. Ended up getting a good deal on the CB1100 so went for that instead.

The acceleration is very linear and so far I haven't had any more difficulty than on the MSF bikes. It is definitely heavier, though.

When a headgasket blows or coolant somehow gets in the oil, basically does the shit in coolant destroy a carbon kevlar clutch?

It's not the miles, it's the crashes. Modern water-cooled bikes go 100K miles on the regular, unless totaled.

I consider jeans sufficient for surface streets unless you're a speed demon, but I won't do any significant SS distance without full-body abrasion protection, which ordinary street clothes obviously do not provide. Ultimately, it's your blood, and therefore your call, but I would encourage you to take a look at some road rash photos and do a little light reading on the potential sequelae of such injuries before deciding.

I've kinda toyed with doing the same for deliveroo but I'd need to get a new bike because of London's new emissions regulations. Plus my current bike is overkill for the job and gets like 45mpg while a 125 gets something like 120.

Perhaps I could have been a little clearer about that. When I said that I consider it sufficient, what I meant was that I find the risk of serious abrasive injury acceptably low, not that 65 kph is some sort of magical barrier beneath which road rash cannot occur, which it obviously isn't -- as anyone who's ever skinned his knee after tripping can readily attest.

I'm sure it can vary pretty wildly depending on what brand jeans you wear and what kind of surface you hit, but I might as well have been wearing tissue paper

Most importantly though, the injury wasn't severe at all. It bled a bit and the ER nurses dressed it, but what was infinitely more annoying were the thick scabs that formed on my knees that took about a month to fall off, and the annoyance of cleaning and re-bandaging my side with one functioning arm.
>>

Yeah, this is kinda what I'm wagering on when I ride in street clothes on surface streets in warm weather. Getting a little fucked up if I crash at 40~50 kph is an acceptable risk in my estimation; it's having my weedy ass cheese-grated across fifty meters of tarmac and ending up with a multidrug-resistant HAI that I'd really rather avoid.

Carb'd so I don't think it does run rich with low velocity intake due to back pressure.

There was an 87' cbr250rr posted on my local kijiji. I think it's an mc17?
Pics are kind of shit, but would that be one of those "revs like a mad cunt" 4 cylinder 250's everybody fawns over because the redline is approaching 20k rpm?
Listing says it might need a clutch, no idea if parts are easy to get for something that's older than me
>>
>>20686886
Looks even more obscure than a normal MC19/22.

Good luck finding anything for it.
>>
>>20686886
Clutch shouldn't be an issue at all, prolly only like $50 for an aftermarket supplier but if it's an MC19 it has a fuel pump. Be wary.
Yeah they rev out but 4 carbs, lazy litre v-twins make more power at 3krpm than a 250 will at peak. It always sounds nice revving up to 18k but the novelty wears off, trust me.
How many km?
Have you ridden before?
>>
>>20686198
Depends on the state, many states have provisions to make dirtbikes legal provided you attach turn signals and appropriate headlights to them.
>>
>>20686898
I've got a gen 1 sv and a cbr600f4, so it'd just be a pipe dream
I asked a similar question before and /dbt/ said "it's slower than your sv, you're not limited to displacement so don't bother"
>>
>>20686905
I've got a ZXR250, but also a TLs and an XR400. The 250 is just notorque but the gears feel twice as long as they should be.
I suppose it's something you'll always want till you try it and get it out of your system, but IMO an MC17/19 is just a little too old for a pipe dream.
>>

Is it bad to do an oil change without a torque wrench? I am an extreme poorfag that can't just buy a £100 one.

you could have the bolt baaaarely touching after tightening it and not get a leak, then have it vibrate loose 3 rides later. buying a bolt with a safety wire hole and rigging it up with that will be more peace of mind, and less chance of stripping the threads or being too loose. both the drain bolt and filter only need hand tightening til they're snug -> additional half turn with a wrench as leverage
>>
>>20687167
I don't.
They're romanticized way too much. They have poor tire options, heavy, SHIT suspension and brakes, bad fuel economy, unsafe geometry, unreliable, high maintenance, and hard to find parts for.
They're not even good options if you're poor, you save like $500 over buying a decent used bike and then it always needs more and more parts replaced/fixed.
